PURE Fitness At Suntec – Mega-Large Space & Sauna Rooms

Gyms in Singapore

WFH life has turned many of us into a potato – metabolism drops, laziness kicks in and before you know it, exercise becomes extra fries.

Many of us have tried home workouts, but having given them a shot myself, I know first hand how much resilience it takes to keep up with the routine, especially after the first couple of weeks. For fellow procrastinators out there who need an extra reason to stay fired up, PURE Fitness’ newest facility might do just the trick with its mega-huge space and variety of unique classes.

P.S. Read till the end to find out about their free three-day gym trial! Images were taken prior to the Circuit Breaker.

1. Mega-sized gym with high ceilings

Gymming is a sweaty affair and when that happens, you’ll want plenty of space between you and the gymrat next to you. And at 30,000 square foot, PURE Fitness Suntec City assures you plenty of space so there’ll be no accidental rubbing of sweaty shoulders – especially important during this era of safe distancing.

Functional training zone

Walk in and it’ll be hard to miss the ginormous entrance with high industrial farmhouse ceilings and 2-storey high gym-inspired artwork that transports you into gym wonderland –  a stark opposite to the cramp and tight gyms most of us are used to.

Training using a tank

Typically space-restricted activities like sprinting up and down a track or tank lower-body workouts can also be done here on their indoor 30M sprint track.

Boxing arena

Whatever stress you might be facing at work, beat it out with a cathartic punching session over at the boxing and kickboxing arena. Grab a friend for a good bout of roundhouse kicks and uppercuts for perhaps the most stress-relieving way to burn calories and get rid of flabby arms.

Alternatively, PURE Fitness members can take things up a notch and hire a trainer for a 1-on-1 kickboxing session.

Cardio zone

More than 14 treadmills, seven cross trainers, four WattBikes, two upright bikes and four PowerMill Climbers lie in wait just in the cardio zone, eliminating the biggest gym peeve of all time: having to wait for your machine to be free.

These are also equipped with a nifty Apple GymKit so those tracking their physical activities with their Apple Watch can easily sync everything up.

2. Get in shape with FUZE classes

As effective as pumping irons or hopping on the treadmill is, it’s a gym routine that does get repetitive. For those who want to spice things up a little, make sure to check out one of the boutique training experiences at the FUZE studio, the brand’s newest feature.

Mundane will be the least of your worries with BLAZE, a targeted strength and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout that’ll whip you into shape.

Some of the muscle building, fat burning and core strength exercises involved include cycling, slam balls, rowing machines, pull-ups and core exercises, all wrapped up in a thrilling 50-minute sesh. Exhausting? Yes, but your body will thank you for it later, and so will those poppin’ abs.

BLAZE isn’t for the faint of heart and if you’d prefer something a tad more beginner friendly, there’s also FUEL, a 45-minute long group cardio workout that focuses on paced stamina to build up your endurance.

Les Mills CONQUER

As for those who prefer trying out new moves, be sure to join in on the Les Mills CONQUER and CEREMONY classes. Unlike your usual gym classes, these incorporate a variety of exercises like boxing, sprinting and functional training exercises – a serving of workout so dynamic, you might even forget the burn in your muscles.

Group Fitness studio with a giant TV screen

There are plenty of classes in the Group Fitness studio, from strength and conditioning Barre classes to dance fitness and mat Pilates, that you can sign up for.

But even if you’re the sort who has trouble making fixed class timings, they’ve also got recorded workouts that you can stream in your own time. Simply head to the studio when it’s not in use, select your favourite workout from their variety of lessons and play it on their giant screen for a digital-guided workout.

Supplement your routine with online live stream workouts

On days when there’s simply not enough time to fit a workout in at the gym, there’s also the nifty alternative that is PURECAST – the gym’s online arsenal of over 220 livestream classes weekly, with a 72 hour playback window. Classes include everything from yoga to dance fitness, so there’s room even for some fat burning at home on your busiest of days.

3. Cycle in a Tron Legacy-esque studio

Their Cycling studio is something not to be missed, especially for spin class addicts. Revel in the flood of endorphins that’ll hit you as you cycle in the studio lined with colourful neon strips and doused in EDM soundtracks.

4. Unlock the exclusive Private Training Studio

Serious gym junkies or professional athletes might want to unlock the Private Training Studio for access to more unique and high-tech equipment.

You’ll need a PURE Fitness personal trainer with you when you enter to access intricate machines like the Kaiser A300 Belt Squat that uses compressed air in place of clunky weighted plates, for a balanced squat workout.

Pilates reformer machine for injury recovery

Hidden in this area is also the gym’s Private Stretch and Pilates room where you can get trigger point therapy treatments, sports massages and guidance on various recovery stretch techniques when you hire one of their qualified trainers.

5. Enjoy next-level facilities like complimentary workout gear

Brightly lit vanity counters equipped with hairdryers

The bathroom in a gym is always paramount to the decision making process of whether or not the gym is worth your monthly membership fee, as fellow ladies might agree. This XXL sized washroom is equipped with everything you can dream of from vanity counters with personal seats to steam and dry sauna* rooms, that’ll make you feel like a VIP – a fit VIP, given all that workout.

Unwind after a tough workout in the dry sauna

*Steam and dry sauna rooms are temporarily closed for safe distancing, until further notice.

Even socks are provided!

With basic gym necessities such as towels and dri-fit workout apparel provided, there’s zero need to worry about lugging your sweat-soaked gym clothes back home or forgoing gym day because you forgot your exercise clothes… again. For your bulky shoes, there are also personal lockers available for rent so all in all, you can go to and from your work out completely hassle free.

Mobile charging station

For those with a perpetually dying battery, leave your phone at the mobile charging station, equipped with several different types of cables for both iPhones and Android phones, secured with a number lock.

6. Grab a bite at the integrated cafe

Grab a healthy snack at the integrated nood food cafe at the entrance of the gym to refuel and help those sore muscles recover. Apart from handy snack bars, they’ve also got tasty options like salad grain bowls, protein-packed wraps and freshly blended superfood smoothies in flavours such as Chocolate Peanut Butter Supreme and Acai Storm.

Morning gymmers can also look forward to caffeinated boosts with freshly brewed coffee made with beans from Common Man Coffee Roasters.

There’s strong WiFi here, in case anyone needs to deal with urgent work.

P.S. To complement your journey towards getting your dream body, the PURE Group lifestyle brand also has a PURE Yoga outlet located in the same building with vinyasa, wall rope yoga and meditation classes available. Also check out PURE Nutrition and PURE Apparel for everything else you might need en route to a fitter version of yourself!

9 Singapore Gym Membership Comparisons (2020)

So you’ve set a goal to be fitter, healthier and stronger for the new year and you want to sign up for a Singapore gym membership.

But there are so many gym membership options to compare and choose from in Singapore. So which Singapore Gym Membership is best for your needs?

To make it easy for you, we analyse and compare the Singapore Gym Memberships by membership fees, number of gym locations, opening hours and facilities so that you can make a more informed decision.

Read on to find your ideal gym membership and crush your fitness goals!

1. True Fitness

Membership Prices

True Fitness advertises itself as having low membership prices, with rates reaching as low as S$55 per month. Given the amount of gym equipment and facilities that True Fitness has, doesn’t True Fitness’ Prices sound a bit too good to be true?

Well, there is actually an upfront “start-up fee” of S$900 that you need to pay for this two-year True Fitness membership plan. Therefore, if you actually average out the total costs you incur, you would effectively be paying approximately S$92.50 per month for a two year period.

However, one good thing about this plan from True Fitness is that you’ll get to use all the branches of True Fitness and not just one particular one.

If you instead opt for the one-year gym membership with True Fitness, you would either pay S$118 per month (for access to one gym location) or S$133 per month (for all fitness centres). As you can see, the prices for the True Fitness Membership seem quite reasonable.

Nonetheless, please be aware of the hidden costs.

True Fitness, like other gyms, have fees such as joining fees and processing fees that may amount up to a few hundred dollars. Thus, it is important to clarify what all the costs are before deciding to purchase the gym membership.

In most cases, these fees can be waived with some negotiation with the sales staff.

Locations

True Fitness has eight locations nationwide, located in Chevron House, Harbourfront Centre, Suntec City Mall, Tampines Junction, Novena Square, Djitsun [email protected], Viva Business Park and Great World City Mall.

Opening Hours

Generally, True Fitness outlets are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. from Mondays to Thursdays and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays.

Additionally, they are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays and Public Holidays in general.

Range of Facilities and Perks

At some locations such as Viva Business Park and Harbourfront Centre, you would be able to enjoy fitness amenities such as Aerobics Studio, Hot Yoga Studio and Spinning Studio.

There is also a stretch area equipped with stretch trainers to enhance your flexibility, coordination and overall athletic performance. This is ideal for use before or after your workouts.

2. Pure Fitness

Membership Prices

The pricing for the plans for Pure Fitness gym memberships ranges from S$150 to S$200, depending on the length of contract you sign up for. While it seems relatively costly, they do have very good benefits and amenities which makes it well worth the price.

Locations

Pure Fitness currently has three locations, two in the CBD area (Asia Square and Ocean Financial Centre) and one in the Orchard Road area (Ngee Ann City).

Opening Hours

On Mondays to Saturdays, Pure Fitness outlets are open from 6 a.m. to 12 midnight. On Sundays and Public Holidays, they are open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

As you can see, Pure Fitness is open for relatively long hours and thus would be ideal for both early risers and those who wish to work out a bit later in the night.

Range of Facilities and Perks

Pure Fitness is furnished with gym equipment from reputable industry names such as LifeFitness and Technogym. In addition, it has specialty facilities catered for kickboxing, gymnastics and power plate equipment

You can inject more fun into your workouts with Pure Fitness’ cardio equipment, which are fitted with personalised entertainment systems. Further, you can also benefit from the free workout gear, bath towels and shower toiletries that you can use for your gym session.

3. Fitness First

Membership Prices

Fitness First‘s gym membership fees range from S$175 to S$245, depending on the type of plan you subscribe for.

If you go for the 18-month membership, then you’ll get to enjoy the lowest rate of S$175 per month. You also get to enjoy a reduced rate of S$185 if you sign up for the 12-month gym contract.

On the other hand, if you decide to subscribe for the more flexible 1-month membership plan, you would have to pay S$245 a month.

In any case, all the gym membership plans entitle you to access to all the Fitness First clubs across Singapore. Thus, you can workout almost wherever you want, especially if there are Fitness First outlets near your house and your workplace.

Locations

As Fitness First is a huge gym chain, it has many locations in Singapore.

In fact, Fitness First currently has a total of 20 clubs, located in areas including Clementi, Mapletree Business City, Bugis Junction, One Raffles Quay, Paya Lebar and Westgate.

Opening Hours

On weekdays, Fitness First gyms generally open as early as 6 a.m. in the morning and close as late as 11 p.m.

While the hours are a little shorter on weekends (from 7 a.m. to 9.pm.), you should still be able to find a convenient slot for you to work out.

On public holidays, the opening hours of the Fitness First Gym are generally from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

However, you should check the exact opening hours with the gym branch you wish to go to as there may be differences to the opening hours between outlets.

Range of Facilities and Perks

Not only do they have a wide range of gym equipment, some Fitness First gyms also have boxing areas and swimming pools to allow for a more diverse workout session. Furthermore, some of the branches have steam rooms for you to relax in after your intense workout.

You are provided with workout attire, a bath towel and complimentary toiletries. This means that you can simply walk in any attire wearing your running shoes and you can begin your workout.

This is especially convenient for working adults who wish to squeeze in a workout on a workday but don’t want the hassle of bringing their sports attire and showering necessities.

4. Anytime Fitness

Membership Prices

The prices of the membership package at Anytime Fitness ranges from S$78 to S$98 for a 12-month membership.

According to Anytime Fitness, the pricing of their packages varies based on location of the club and current promotions or offers. For example, if you are a student or an emergency responder from Civil Defence or Singapore Police Force, you would be entitled to preferential rates and discounts.

You can check out here all the locations of Anytime Fitness’ outlets.

Opening Hours

As the name suggests, “Anytime Fitness” is open 24 hours a day.

As a gym member, that’s a huge advantage. You can literally work out anytime.

If you’re a night owl or a night shift worker who sleeps in the day and is only active at night, then Anytime Fitness would be a good choice for you.

Range of Facilities and Perks

At Anytime Fitness, you get to enjoy a decent range of facilities, with strength training and functional training equipment. What’s more, you may also get to benefit from personal training and free classes as well.

Anytime Fitness membership comes with worldwide access. This means that you can work out at the 4,000 and growing gym locations worldwide, particularly if you’re traveling and wish to hit the gym.

5. Virgin Active Fitness

Membership Prices

For Virgin Active gyms, their membership plans cost from S$232 to S$260 per month, making it one of the most expensive gyms in Singapore.

Locations

At the moment, Virgin Active has five locations in Singapore. They are currently located in Raffles Place, Tanjong Pagar, Holland Village, Marina One and Duo [email protected]

Opening Hours

The opening hours of the Virgin Active Facilities are from 6.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.m. on Mondays to Fridays. On weekends and Public Holidays, they operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

6. ActiveSG

Membership Prices

The membership prices for ActiveSG gyms are by far the lowest.

It costs a mere S$300 per annum, amounting to approximately S$25 per month. Another good thing about ActiveSG gyms is that you can pay for one-time uses at S$2.50 for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents.

Given that all Singaporeans were provided with S$100 of free ActiveSG credits, you can use this amount to help offset some of your ActiveSG gym membership costs as well.

Locations

While there are no ActiveSG gyms located in the CBD area, ActiveSG has close to 20 gym branches in Singapore.

Some of these locations include Yishun, Ang Mo Kio, Clementi, Serangoon and Bishan.

Opening Hours

ActiveSG gyms can open as early as 7 a.m. and close as late as 10 p.m. However, the opening hours differ from outlet to outlet. You can find here a list of the ActiveSG gyms and their opening hours.

Range of Facilities and Perks

The axiom ‘you get what you pay for’ applies.

The nature of ActiveSG gyms is that they are equipped with the basic machines and equipment for you to carry out your exercises. You shouldn’t expect to see the most cutting-edge machines or the latest gym apparatus.

Having said that, you can at least be assured that the gyms will be furnished with free weights, cardiovascular machines, shower facilities and lockers. It will be more than adequate for your exercise needs, regardless of your fitness level.

7. GymmBoxx

Membership Prices

GymmBoxx is another gym that offers very competitive gym membership rates in Singapore.

For adults above 21, the GymmBoxx membership prices span from S$65 to S$85 per month for island-wide access. Like most other gyms, the membership costs vary according to the term of your membership subscription.

While GymmBoxx also charges a joining fee, this is a minimal fee of only S$30 for new members and shouldn’t be a cause for concern.

Another unique benefit of GymmBoxx is that it allows for the per entry use of its gym facilities at S$8, but limited to 3 hours in the gym. In any case, most people wouldn’t need that many hours in the gym, even considering showering time.

Locations

GymmBoxx is also conveniently located in areas such as Bedok Point, Bishan, Jurong East, Century [email protected], Choa Chu Kang and Ang Mo Kio.

If you live nearby one of these areas, then you’re in luck. An inexpensive and well-equipped gym is just a stone throw’s away.

Opening Hours

Another benefit of using GymmBoxx is that it is open 24/7.

Hence, you never have to worry about rushing to finish your workout before closing time. You can gym as and when you wish to.

Range of Facilities and Perks

The facilities at GymmBoxx are quite comprehensive, complete with cardiovascular equipment, power racks and personal training. This is ideal for the gym buff who wishes to do strength training and even powerlifting.

8. SAFRA EnergyOne

Membership Prices

To purchase the SAFRA EnergyOne gym membership, you have to pay a one-time fee of S$374.50. Thereafter, there is a quarterly subscription fee of $128.40. There’s also a small gym admin fee of S$21.40.

If we average out the total costs for a SAFRA EnergyOne gym membership over a 12 month period, the cost of membership per month would be about S$76.

This isn’t too expensive but would undoubtedly be pricier than options such as ActiveSG or GymmBoxx.

Locations

SAFRA EnergyOne gyms presently have six locations, which include SAFRA Mount Faber, SAFRA Yishun, SAFRA Tampines, SAFRA Jurong, SAFRA Toa Payoh and SAFRA Punggol.

Opening Hours

The operating hours of SAFRA EnergyOne gyms are from 6.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.m. from Mondays to Fridays. On Saturdays, they are from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and they open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Range of Facilities and Perks

SAFRA EnergyOne has a wide array of gym amenities, which range from resistance training equipment, free weights, bath towels and saunas.

9. Gold’s Gym

Membership Prices

There are no fixed membership fees. This is because for Gold’s Gym, prices vary according to the training regime that one chooses to enrol into.

Locations

Gold’s Gym has a total of 11 locations in Singapore.

Currently, it is located at Joo Chiat, Novena, Buona Vista, Raffles Place, River Valley, Bugis, Bukit Timah, East Coast, Tanjong Pagar, Farrer Park and Upper Thomson.

Opening Hours

Gold Gym doesn’t have fixed opening hours. In fact, they operate strictly on an appointment-only basis.

Therefore, if you wish to work with the more popular personal trainers, you would have to make bookings further in advance.

Range of Facilities and Perks

Gold’s Gym has equipment that can cater to different body types and physical goals. It has programs that aid with fat loss for its members and on the other hand, have training regimes for individuals who want to bulk up.

Therefore, it appears that Gold’s Gym may be able to help you achieve your fitness targets, no matter what they are.

Conclusion

As seen above, there are various factors that you can use to compare the different gym memberships in Singapore. In terms of gym membership prices, Virgin Active Fitness, Fitness First and Pure Fitness Prices are somewhat on the high side for Singapore gyms. True Fitness Prices while seemingly low, actually have some upfront costs. As for those who are more cost-conscious, ActiveSG, GymmBoxx or Anytime Fitness may appeal to you. However, apart from membership fees, it’s also important to consider the locations, opening hours and range of facilities and perks of these gyms. Only then can you make an informed decision and find the best gym to crush your fitness goals!

Here are additional money tips for you to better manage your finances and become more successful.

Start slow and with low repetitions, and slowly increase as your confidence and stamina grows with repetitions of 8, 12 or 15 counts.

Wall Baby Seater – Great to tone the thighs, tummy and arms

  • Lean back against the wall with feet shoulder width apart and a comfortable distance away from the wall (your knees should be bent)
  • Carry your baby in front of you maintaining 90 degrees at your elbows and knees, hold for 8 counts
  • Repeat 3 sets

Baby Hip Bridge – Excellent to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and tightening your glute muscles

  • Lie flat on your back with your knees bent, feet remaining on the floor
  • Place your baby on your tummy (ensuring that he/she is strong enough to sit up), hold your child steady and proceed to raise your pelvis up slowly
  • With your head, neck and feet still on the floor, stop when your thighs, hips and torso are in one straight line at an angle to the floor.
  • Remain in this position for 8 counts and slowly release
  • Repeat 3 sets

Plank – *This is a must-do for mothers who are keen to see a trim tummy again

  • Lie chest-down on the floor or a fitness mat
  • Lift your body up to form a straight plank with elbows, forearms and toes on the floor (imagine your neck, back hips and legs being placed against a plank)
  • Remain in that position (be careful not to drop your hips or to lift it too high) for at least 30 seconds to start with, slowly increasing your time to one minute per cycle
  • Repeat 3 sets

Pure Fitness at Ngee Ann City visited 10 times by Covid-19 cases while infectious, Singapore News & Top Stories

SINGAPORE – Pure Fitness gym at Ngee Ann City was visited a total of 10 times by Covid-19 cases while they were infectious between March 18 and March 29, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Thursday (April 1).

Two restaurants in Orchard Road – Akashi at Paragon and Paul at Ngee Ann City – and Cherry Discotheque at Keck Seng Tower in Cecil Street were also added to the list of locations visited by Covid-19 cases while they were infectious.

Anyone who had been at these locations during the specified timings should monitor their health closely for two weeks from their date of visit, MOH said.

They should see a doctor promptly if they develop symptoms like a sore throat, fever, or loss of taste or smell, and inform the doctor of their exposure history.

There were also 26 new coronavirus cases confirmed on Thursday – all imported and placed on stay-home notice upon arrival in Singapore.

The caseload included 23 who were asymptomatic and were detected from screening and surveillance, while three were symptomatic.

The cases include three Singaporeans and one permanent resident, who returned from Belgium, India, Indonesia and Yemen.

Another two cases are student’s pass holders who arrived from India. There is also a work pass holder who travelled from Japan.

Seventeen cases are work permit holders who arrived from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates, of which three are foreign domestic workers.

The remaining two cases are short-term visit pass holders who travelled from Indonesia and India to visit family members here.

There were no new community cases reported on Thursday and none from migrant workers’ dormitories.

The new case numbers brought Singapore’s total to 60,407.

The Ministry of Health said the number of new cases in the community had increased from none last week, to three in the past week.

The number of unlinked cases in the community had also increased from zero to three in the same period.

With 12 cases discharged on Thursday, 60,146 people have fully recovered from Covid-19.

There are 38 patients in hospital, including one in critical condition in the intensive care unit, while 178 are recuperating in community facilities.

Singapore has had 30 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died of other causes.

a supersized gym with a new HIIT studio

You’ll find everything you need to get your body moving at the new, supersized Pure Fitness outlet at Suntec City. Here, the spacious 30,000 square feet space stocks machines from stair masters and ellipticals at the cardio area, to a kickboxing arena to punch and kick all your frustrations away. A perk of working out at Pure Fitness is that you can slip into the gym’s complementary workout attire – right down to socks – and sweat away without worrying about bringing dirty laundry home.

Hate the crowd? Try the offerings at the newly launched FUZE studio that’s exclusive to the Suntec outlet, with three different small-group classes (45-50 minutes) that will leave you panting for more. There’s the Les Mills-backed CEREMONY and CONQUER – a functional HIIT and aqua-boxing class respectively. But for a full-body workout sesh, hop into a BLAZE class. It’s a dynamic program developed in-house by Pure, and combines an equal mix of cardio elements and strength-building moves to push your body to its limit.

A typical BLAZE class which we dropped by for had us begin with controlled, but intense exercises to help develop power: think pull-ups, dumbbells lunges, weighted squats and the likes that you perform together with a workout partner. You’d notice that functional moves are favoured over technical, complicated exercises to help develop practical stamina and strength. In the second half of the class, the pace picks up. The emphasis shifts to cardio, performed in short sets with minimal rest time to keep your heart rate pumping in overdrive. Between sprints on the treadmill and floor movements with a medicine ball, there was hardly any time catch our breath.

Of course, classic gym facilities and the more-familiar group training programs are also available. And when you’re done with a day of sweating, fuel up with a recovery shake from the gym’s own healthy eatery, Nood Food.

Overall Bodybuilding Benefits

In addition to building and developing muscles to achieve a good shape and proportional body shape, bodybuilding also offers many health benefits. It is a great way to improve fitness, bone health, and cholesterol levels. Exercise stimulates the production of endorphins, also known as well-being chemicals, which can help improve your overall psychological health.

There are various benefits of bodybuilding, here are some of them:

Improving overall strength and endurance

Bodybuilding includes several workouts and programs to develop different parts of the body. This often includes both strength training and muscle building, such as lifting weights to increase muscle size. Larger muscles also increase your muscle strength and metabolic rate over time, allowing your body to burn more fat more easily.

Build muscle to support joints and bones

Muscle plays an important role in supporting our bones and protecting our skeletal system from external influences. Numerous exercises used in bodybuilding, such as deadlifts, bench presses, and resistance training, which can help build your muscles and overall core strength. This improves your balance and coordination skills, which not only aids the absorption of more challenging workouts, but also reduces the risk of fractures and sprains in the long term.

Reduce the risk of disease

Regular physical activity can improve your fitness and strengthen your heart muscles. Various studies have shown that people who exercise regularly have a lower risk of health problems such as heart problems, diabetes, and cognitive disease.Regular exercise can also slow aging and play a role in extending your life span.

Improves mental health

Stress is an integral part of our lives and can help us grow, but it becomes harmful when it leads to acute or chronic stress. In addition to improving your physical condition, bodybuilding provides various mental health benefits. Bodybuilding is also a form of exercise, allowing your body to release natural pain relievers and happy chemicals like adrenaline and endorphins. It helps reduce stress and fatigue, increase concentration, and improve overall cognitive performance.

Gain Self-Discipline

In addition to the physical and mental benefits, bodybuilding often involves adhering to a rigorous training and diet regimen. In our world, there are countless temptations, it is not always easy to adhere to a strict routine. The process of overcoming challenging workouts and striving to control your diet and lifestyle helps develop self-discipline and thinking.

Pre and Post Workout Food

Providing your body with essential nutrients before and after training can help your body perform better and recover more efficiently. A good meal plan and exercise regimen can help improve your body’s performance and prevent possible injury.

Pre-Workout Nutrition

Getting the right mix of nutrients before your workout is critical to providing your body with enough energy to prepare your muscles for growth and repetitions.Protein is one of the main components of bodybuilding as it helps prevent muscle damage and breakdown. Another essential nutrient is carbohydrates, which provide the body with glucose to fuel your working muscles. They can be obtained from foods such as egg whites, oatmeal, and chicken.

Post-Workout Nutrition

Post-Workout Nutrients are vital for muscle building and recovery. By not eating the right foods at the right time, you risk affecting your overall performance and increasing muscle soreness after exercise.Bodybuilders are encouraged to consume high protein foods for 30 minutes to an hour after training. Including foods such as sweet potatoes, chicken, and beans in your post-workout meal can help ensure a balanced diet.

What To Look For Before Signing Up For A Bodybuilding Program

There Are A Few Factors To Consider Before Signing Up For A Bodybuilding Program:

Lifestyle & Commitment

1 month to a year. However, this is a long-term commitment and may not always pay off if you don’t have the time to travel to the gym frequently. Some gyms offer online workouts or home fitness equipment that may be more appropriate for your lifestyle. Before registering, be sure to attend a trial lesson before purchasing. Most gyms offer free trial sessions at discounted prices or even free!

Availability and location of clubs and gyms

Bodybuilding often requires regular exercise, so it is important to consider the availability and location of a club or gym.Whether you plan on exercising after school, at work, or at lunchtime, a convenient gym can help you save time on the road. It also provides a lot of flexibility when you’re looking for a quick workout in between your busy schedule.

Overall Quality of Trainers

Trainers will provide you with a training regimen and help you hone your skills based on your current ability. They have the know-how and training methods to educate and keep you informed throughout your fitness journey.Hence, it is important not only to find a qualified instructor, but also to find one that you are comfortable working with so that you do not feel intimidated or insecure.

  • Outdoor sports: how clean is the air in Moscow’s parks and squares | VOGUE

We select three points for measurements – Patriarch’s Ponds, Chistoprudny Boulevard and Gorky Park.We start on the Patriarchs with the very playground where my training took place. It is located closest to the Garden Ring – that is, we proceed from the worst-case scenario. The examination lasts three minutes. Each substance is measured by its own device. We look at the indicators – there is really a minimum amount of harmful substances on Patrick. With a carbon monoxide rate of 5 mg / m³, there is only 0.2 mg / m³. “Today is not the best day from an environmental point of view,” says Bondarenko. “We call it NMU, that is, unfavorable meteorological conditions, – there is no wind.”

Did you know that London, which is often cited as an example as a standard – they say, there are parks at every step where everyone plays cricket and does yoga, much dirtier than Moscow? There is high humidity, smog, and because of this, harmful substances are poorly dispersed. Today it is calm in Moscow, and this is not very good from the point of view of ecology.

The second ecologist’s advice is not to play sports along the road. Move back at least a hundred meters: then the emissions from the engines of the cars will simply not reach you.It is also advisable that buildings and trees protect you from the highway – this is a serious barrier to the spread of nitrogen and carbon oxides. And finally, in no case do not work where repair work is underway. Sand and other suspended solids that are released as dust are not good for breathing. And if asphalt is laid, then harmful derivatives of petroleum products will also spread.

The main thing in this business is common sense: of course, if it is forty-degree heat outside, windless and peat bogs are burning, it is better to go on vacation somewhere in the mountains.

The next checkpoint is Chistoprudny Boulevard. On the way, we sweep past the cafe, which stands right on the roadway. I ask Natalia Bondarenko whether she would sit on the veranda or go inside. “It doesn’t matter in this case. Indoors, if it is located on the road, the air is approximately the same as outside. This also applies to restaurants, fitness clubs, and apartments. ” Conditioners will help if they are of the latest generation and are cleaned regularly. But usually they make the air dry, like other electronic devices, and upset the balance of air ions in the air – gas ions formed in the atmosphere under the influence of cosmic radiation, electrical discharges and other factors. This is one of the physical indicators of air, no less important than the chemical ones that we measured on the street. Denis Semenikhin about sports drinks

Before starting the funniest thing, let us remind you that fitness is not only sweating on the treadmill, but also cycling, playing tennis, swimming in the pool and, in general, any physical activity that helps you to be in shape. That is, one way or another, the topic of sports drinks concerns everyone. And you, too, even if you have never bought a gym membership. Or I bought it but didn’t use it.

Powerade is one of the most popular sports drinks in the world

    A breath of history

The idea of sports drinks came into everyday life from professional sports. Marathon runners, triathletes and representatives of other sports, where superloading is a common thing, often suffered from seizures, disorientation and other troubles.

    – The fact that during prolonged physical exertion a person needs something more than just water, people realized a long time ago, – says Denis. – It is clear that 100 years ago there was no brand that would produce sports drinks in colorful bottles and sell them in regular grocery stores. But the fact that an athlete running a marathon needs not just water, but a drink with a certain salt and sugar content, was guessed.

A revolution in this direction began at the end of the 19th century, when the Olympic Games resumed in the world, and big sport began to gain popularity again.Doctors began to think: is it possible to somehow improve the well-being of athletes during the passage of difficult distances? Scientists began to conduct research en masse in order to find out what happens to the body during prolonged physical exertion. At this time, the following theory was officially confirmed: during sports activity, the body releases moisture (sweat) in order to maintain body temperature within the “normal” 36.6. And dehydration and subsequent heat strokes occur precisely because the body’s water supply is not replenished in time.

Scientists began to think about what substances and in what concentration should be added to water in order to obtain an elixir, in one sip of which there would be everything necessary to support the athlete’s strength.

“We experimented a lot in the 1950s – 1960s,” says Denis. – For example, we tried to give the runners syrups to drink. But syrup is food, and after drinking it, the athletes did not exactly stop, but noticeably slowed down – instead of adding speed.

    Eureka!

In the early 1980s, scientists finally abandoned experiments with syrups, decided to concentrate on drinks in the usual sense and came to the conclusion that the drink should be made moderately sweet and moderately salty: the concentration of sugar should be 3-4 g per 100 ml of water. They decided to “season” the liquid with sodium, magnesium and potassium. New drinks began to be called isotonic because of their ability to nourish blood plasma with the necessary moisture no worse than saline.Since then, isotonics, which include Powerade, have been an important part of any workout.

Coaches from big sports, taking into account the subjective parameters of their students, began to perform almost alchemical mysteries, mixing different ingredients and getting the optimal isotonic, formally suitable for only one person in the world. So, tennis player Andre Agassi in his interviews liked to talk about his coach Gil Reis and about isotonic, which Gil mixed for him before each match.Agassi himself called this drink Gil water, and did not share the recipe with anyone, even with his wife Steffi Graf, by the way, also a tennis player.

Denis Semenikhin knows everything about sports drinks. And even more

    Not only for sports

To maintain endurance while exercising, it is enough to drink sports drinks, which are sold in regular stores. What is there! Isotonic helps to stay in shape and tone, even when you are sitting still.

“Excess carbohydrates are everywhere – in rolls, pasta, sugar and its substitutes,” explains Semenikhin. – Sports drinks help solve this problem.

How? At the airport, waiting for an invitation to board, or at work, where you want to eat almost constantly, Denis advises you to always keep a bottle of isotonic with you.

“This is simple arithmetic,” he teaches. – You drink a cup of coffee, where you put 10 g of sugar. Powerade bottle contains 8 times lower sugar concentration.
