Great oil cleanser – a must have!
A great cleanser! It melts away makeup and adds moisture but what I really like to do with this is use it as my last step in my double cleanse method. It clears my skin and keeps it feeling nourished. All you need is a 1-2 pumps to massage in your skin in a warm/hot shower (massaging helps the circulation and gets the facial facia unstuck). This cleansing oil disolves and leaves behind a clean, fresh feeling face. The product has helped me clear up some spots in a more gentle way when compared to other more harsh soap brands. I want to preserve the moisture on my skin not strip it and this product does that! Just make sure not to get it in your eyes!

It’s okay
I’m new to oil based cleansers and had found a wonderful product but at $45 a bottle, I was looking for a cheaper alternative.
I’ve tested this Neutrogena version and I was underwhelmed.
Firstly, the smell wasn’t what I was expecting and smelled ‘chemically’.
Secondly, you can’t rub it into your eyes, unlike the other brand. How are you expected to remove eye make up without it touching your eyes?
I need a cleanser to be the complete package… i.e. not having to wash my eyes separately with a different product.
I hope they can tweak the formula and make this a great product.

As good, if not better than Korean/Japan high ends
Excellent and removes even water proof make up. I compared one eye with this and the other with a well reviewed Korean brand and this was a tad better. Everything came off. Use it daily at night as a first cleanse to remove sunscreen, etc. followed by the Neutrogena extra gentle cleanser.

Great Cleanser but Hurts My Eyes!!
I actually really like this cleanser! Does a great job of removing my makeup and love the texture of the oil dissolving into a milky texture and rinsing clean.
BUT it stings my eyes badly! And what is the point of using a makeup removing cleanser if you can’t use it on your eyes!! Now one of my eyes is actually sore and I believe is getting a sty near my lashes!!
Love sooo many other Neutrogena products disappointed this doesn’t work for me!!

Excellent make up remover
I wear Double wear foundation- so it tough makeup to get it all off at the end of the day. I find this cleansing oil the best to remove my makeup – I swapped to this when I could no longer get another major (top range) brands cleansing oil. This is product is as good, if not better because of the price. I have been using it for 2 years.
I masage the oil all over my face, then wet my hands and massage again to activate it. Wipe off with a soft facial cloth. I find it gets it all off, leaving my skin soft and dewy ready for my night skin routine.

Review on Neutrogena Cleansing Oil
First of all, I am surprise to see this particular product is made in korea! being a Korean skincare addict, i am happy and excited to try on it.
First try last night, impressive! and smells quite good , cleansing power is strong enough for me as i don’t normally wear heavy makeup, just purely BB cream and sunscreen.
Overall, i would recommend people to try this

Am I doing something wrong?
I was so excited to try this product as I have been looking for a gentle cleanser to remove my makeup in the shower at night. Well I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong but this product does not remove make up, like at all.
I followed all steps perfectly (applying to dry face in the shower = very hard!), double cleansed though the second cleanse I have a wet face and even after that I get out of the shower with mascara smeared everywhere. When I then run a cotton pad with micellar water over my face there is so much foundation left it’s like I didn’t wash my face! And I don’t wear a lot of foundation so it’s like little to none has been removed.
Cleansing wise – I don’t feel like my face has been cleansed at all. It doesn’t leave a greasy feel, so I suppose that’s a good thing.
I have pretty normal skin. So I’m sure there’s someone out there that this would be suited to, but it’s not me.
tl;dr doesn’t cleanse or remove makeup, might work for skin types other than normal

Neutrogena – Deep Clean Cleansing Oil Reviews

I’m not a fan of this cleansing oil. I like how the consistency of the oil feels light and non-greasy. I also liked how you could add water to further emulsify it, which felt very interesting and fun.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that I don’t like about it.

Firstly, the packaging. I absolutely hate the neck of the pump bottle. I always have to line up the barrels of the pump mechanism thing in order to pump the product out. When I don’t line them up properly, either nothing comes out or it messily half pumps the product out. Here, I thought a pump bottle is suppose to dispense the product in a clean and neat way, but that was not the case with the Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleansing Oil.

Secondly, the fragrance. When I used it for the very first time, the scent was quite pleasant. It was like a berry, fruity smell. However, after that initial use, the scent became so intense that it made me feel a little sick. Therefore, I couldn’t use this product on a daily basis. I had to keep switching between the Neutrogena and another cleansing oil that I already owned. I just simply can’t stand that overpowering fragrance.

Lastly, the fact that it doesn’t cleanse your skin properly. I massaged the oil onto my skin for about 1-2 minutes, then I tried emulsifying the product with water and massaging it in circular motions as directed in the instructions (for another 1-2 minutes). After rinsing it off, I used a makeup remover wipe to test if it really did clean my face. I still had some foundation and mascara residues. I have also tested it against a baby oil, and the baby oil worked so much better. That being said, the Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleansing Oil did feel a little more nourishing than the baby oil and as mentioned before, it’s not greasy.

Overall, I’m just not impressed with this cleansing oil at all, which is a shame because it really tarnished the brand, and Neutrogena is usually a good brand. I hope they will further improve it and release another version of it.

Neutrogena At-A-Glance

Strengths: Inexpensive; several recommended cleansers; retinol options, in stable packaging; vast selection of sunscreens, most of which offer excellent UVA protection; several fragrance-free options; many of the Healthy Skin products are state-of-the-art; the foundations with sunscreen provide sufficient UVA protection; some praiseworthy makeup items.

Weaknesses: An overabundance of overlapping anti-aging products that is perennially confusing for consumers; irritating bar soaps; lackluster to downright bad toners; a handful of bland moisturizers and eye creams; some sunscreens too much alcohol or problematic preservatives; most of the Deep Clean products are terrible; mostly disappointing concealers; the lip balms with sunscreen provide inadequate UVA protection.

Johnson & Johnsonowned Neutrogena has been around for over 50 years, and they’ve come a long way since they launched their first transparent, bronze, detergent-based bar soap (it also contains tallow). The bars are still sold, and while we still don’t recommend them (they are too drying for all skin types), the good news is that Neutrogena has come a very long way from where they started. In fact, several of their products represent truly state-of-the-art options.

Strolling the skin-care aisles of any drugstore or mass-market store reveals that Neutrogena vies for shelf space and prominence with only one other brand, Procter & Gamble’s Olay. For the most part, both companies offer a similar assortment of products, with Olay being slightly more focused on anti-aging products and Neutrogena going for broader appeal, offering a nearly equal amount of antiwrinkle and anti-acne products. Regrettably the latter category presents few viable options.

Where Neutrogena really excels (and has for years) is with water-soluble cleansers, AHAs, retinol, and sunscreen products. Their Healthy Skin lineup offers some beautifully formulated moisturizers with glycolic acid, and the sunscreens offer something for everyone, including some ingenious options for those with oily skin (or anyone who finds the texture of high-SPF products as unappealing as slathering your skin with Crisco).

A recent self-proclaimed advance in sun protection came with Neutrogena’s Helioplex complex. It is not the superior breakthrough Neutrogena makes it out to be. It’s a good system to keep avobenzone stable for longer, but Helioplex isn’t the only way to get the most out of this important UVA sunscreen. If it were, why didn’t Neutrogena scrap all of their other sunscreens that don’t use Helioplex technology? And why do they still offer a handful of SPF-rated products that leave skin vulnerable to UVA damage? Although they offer a proportionately greater number of sunscreens that provide excellent UVA protection, it’s hard to unequivocally deem them a sun-care leader when they still sell inadequate sunscreens.

It’s common to see commercials and magazine ads for Neutrogena’s plethora of products designed to combat breakouts and blackheads. It’s nothing short of amazing that, after all these years, the majority of these products, while well intentioned, still don’t get it right. Far too many of them contain irritating ingredients such as alcohol, witch hazel, and menthol, none of which are the least bit helpful for someone struggling with breakouts. If your dermatologist recommends these products for acne without reservation, definitely consider a second opinion! Even Neutrogena’s on-the-spot benzoyl peroxide product contains some potentially problematic thickening agents. Despite this, if you choose carefully, there are some great products (including a BHA lotion) that can make a positive difference.

What’s most frustrating and, frankly, surprising, is that Neutrogena’s enormous assortment of products represents both the best and the worst the cosmetics industry has to offer. Given their worldwide distribution and research capabilities, they really should be offering a consistent range of effective, irritant-free products to address a variety of skin types and conditions. As things stand now, healthy, protected skin is only assured if you know which Neutrogena products to look for and which ones to never put in your shopping cart.

Neutrogena Makeup

Neutrogena’s “beautiful and beneficial” pronouncement is a great tag line, but most of their makeup doesn’t live up to that assertion. This line was lacking in several key areas when it first hit store shelves in 1999, and although some things have improved, the number of problematic products is a bit startling. (We are not aware of any cosmetic line that uses menthol or its derivatives as often as Neutrogena.) Each product carries on about the vitamins it contains, yet compared to the leading roles played by cosmetic staples like silicones and thickening agents, the vitamins have mere cameo roles, and as such have little to no impact.

There are a few key items to seek out, especially if you’re looking for makeup with excellent sun protection. We also found their lip gloss to be one of the best at any price, and a few of their foundations successfully bridge the gap between skin care and makeup.

The most frustrating aspect of this line is that almost all of it is packaged so you cannot see the color. Even worse, the color swatch on the box is a poor representation, not only of how the color looks in the compact, but also how it looks on your skin. What would truly be beneficial is for Neutrogena to offer more revealing packaging or provide testers or offer trial sizes. Their overall collection and in-store displays aren’t nearly as tempting as most other drugstore makeup lines, so in most cases they’re relying on their constant magazine and television ads to drive shoppers to explore the world of Neutrogena makeup, or they’re relying solely on those who don’t mind guessing what color they are really buying. It’s obviously working, because despite the problematic elements, this is a line that has survived and is very well distributed.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Hydrating Cleansing Oil ingredients (Explained)

The famous or maybe rather infamous mineral oil. The clear oily liquid that is the “cheap by-product” of refining crude oil and the one that gets a lot of heat for its poor provenance. It is a very controversial ingredient with pros and cons and plenty of myths around it. So let us see them:

The pros of mineral oil

Trust us, if something is used for more than 100 years in cosmetic products, it has advantages. Chemically speaking, cosmetic grade mineral oil is a complex mixture of highly refined saturated hydrocarbons with C15-50 chain length. It is not merely a “by-product” but rather a specifically isolated part of petroleum that is very pure and inert.

It is a great emollient and moisturizer working mainly by occlusivity. Occlusivity is one of the basic mechanisms of how moisturizers work and it means that mineral oil sits on top of the skin and hinders so-called trans-epidermal water loss, i.e water evaporating out of your skin. When compared to heavy-duty plant oil, extra virgin coconut oil, the two of them were equally efficient and safe as moisturizers in treating xerosis, a skin condition connected to very dry skin.

The other thing that mineral oil is really good at is being non-irritating to the skin. The chemical composition of plant oils is more complex with many more possible allergens or irritating components, while mineral oil is simple, pure and sensitivity to it is extremely rare. If you check out the classic French pharmacy brands and their moisturizers for the most sensitive, allergy prone skin, they usually contain mineral oil. This is no coincidence.

The cons of mineral oil

The pros of mineral oil can be interpreted as cons if we look at them from another perspective. Not penetrating the skin but mostly just sitting on top of it and not containing biologically active components, like nice fatty acids and vitamins mean that mineral oil does not “nourish” the skin in the way plant oils do. Mineral oil does not give the skin any extra goodness, it is simply a non-irritating moisturizer working mainly by occlusivity.

The myths around mineral oil

Badmouthing mineral oil is a favorite sport of many, it is a cheap material and being connected to petrolatum makes it fairly easy to demonize.

While it is true that industrial grade mineral oil contains carcinogenic components (so-called polycyclic compounds), these are completely removed from cosmetic and food grade mineral oil and there is no scientific data showing that the pure, cosmetic grade version is carcinogenic.

What is more, in terms of the general health effects of mineral oils used in cosmetics, a 2017 study reviewed the data on their skin penetration and concluded that “the cosmetic use of mineral oils and waxes does not present a risk to consumers due to a lack of systemic exposure.”

Another super common myth surrounding mineral oil is that it is comedogenic. A 2005 study titled “Is mineral oil comedogenic?” examined this very question and guess what happened? The study concluded that  “based on the animal and human data reported, along with the AAD recommendation, it would appear reasonable to conclude that mineral oil is noncomedogenic in humans. ”

Overall, we feel that the scaremongering around mineral oil is not justified. For dry and super-sensitive skin types it is a great option. However, if you do not like its origin or its heavy feeling or anything else about it, avoiding it has never been easier. Mineral oil has such a bad reputation nowadays that cosmetic companies hardly dare to use it anymore.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Oil to Foam Cleanser – Oh My Gloss Blog

Hey guys! This post is going to be about a new cleanser I purchased. I love checking out new cleaners because I wear makeup all day and most everyday. I need to keep my skin healthy by cleaning it everyday! If you’re like me, cleansing is the best way to keep your skin glowy and ready for another days worth of makeup.

I will start by saying that I haven’t bought a Neutrogena brand cleanser in like 5 years. I was always a fan of their Deep Clean foaming and cream cleansers. However I always did feel like it dried out my skin too much, so I stopped and never bought one again. Now fast forward 5 years, I decided to try out their new Deep Clean Oil to Foam cleanser. I recently reviewed a milk to foam cleanser and I’ve reviewed a cleansing water to foam cleanser a long time ago. I think it is time to review a oil to foam cleanser 😉

There are three different oil to foam cleansers to choose from, original, brightening, and hydrating. I bought the brightening one because I’ve been getting exposed to more sun and dirt these days my skin has been looking a bit dull. The brightening one has mulberry extract which is rich in vitamin C and B3 that helps with dark and dull looking skin. The packaging comes in clear air pump case. You press the nozzle on the top to pump up the product. The oil is in a clear gel form so its not as runny as ordinary oil cleansers.

The one I got smells really good, like berries…. duh Sarah hahaha. You have to apply directly on dry skin and rub it around a bit. Then add a bit of water to create the foam. After couple minutes of massaging and bubbling, rinse it off with warm water. It does have a silky feel as you rinse it off and not a squeakiness of a usual foam cleanser. When I looked at the water when I was rinsing I could tell it was doing it’s job.

How did it perform? I had a full face of makeup and I had it on all day and it removed everything except a little bit of mascara underneath the eyes. I would still have to use a lip and eye makeup remover to get my waterproof mascara off, but with everything else it did a really good job. I didn’t feel that it dried out my skin like their foam cleansers did back in the day. But even so, I did feel a bit of tightness after a few minutes. I didn’t really see a huge brightening effect, just the usual brightness after washing my face. I wasn’t really expecting an amazing difference, so that’s that. Also it didn’t sting my eyes as much like the other ‘_____ to foam’ cleansers I’ve reviewed.

I think these cleansers are great for those who don’t wear much makeup or any makeup at all. Also for the busy, lazy, and tired hahaha. This is a great 2-in-1 cleanser that will give you a squeaky good clean and you don’t have to worry about doing a second round of cleansing. Each cleanser costs 35,000KRW.

25 Best Cleansing Oils of 2020 – Dermatologist, Editor Reviews

Here’s the lowdown on how to subscribe to Allure’s print edition for more beauty routines, recommendations, and features.

If you have oily skin, the concept of putting any oil-based products on your face probably doesn’t make much sense, whether it comes in the form of face oils, cleansing oils — you name it. But that’s simply not true. Thanks to a little thing called double cleansing, the concept of starting your routine with a gets-it-all-off oil has gone from a niche Korean skin-care step to full-on mainstream practice. And yes, it’s something that anyone, regardless of skin type, can get into.

“Since oil dissolves oil, they are ideally suited to be used as cleansers,” Joshua Zeichner, director of cosmetic and clinical research at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, tells Allure. “Cleansing oils usually contain an oil base, along with a traditional skin-cleansing ingredient called a surfactant, which helps bind to dirt on the skin and remove it without disrupting the skin barrier.” Just make sure you work them onto dry skin so it breaks down makeup, sunscreen, and dirt — before rinsing off with lukewarm water or gently wiping it away with a soft muslin cloth.

And unlike traditional makeup-removing wipes (or even micellar waters), cleansing oils are some of the gentlest products that will still ensure every last trace of waterproof mascara and foundation is removed. No tugging required. In fact, you can give yourself a nice, relaxing massage with a cleansing oil — which is a perfect way to end a long, hard day.

Many are also packed with good-for-you ingredients, like jojoba seed oil, apricot kernel oil, and centella asiatica extract, which actively nourish skin while giving it a deep clean. Here, check out 25 of our favorite cleansing oils.

90,000 3 Great Hair Products from Neutrogena | Customer Reviews

Hello dear cosmetic brushes!
I want to tell you about three great Neutrogena hair products that I have been using for several years – a deep cleanse shampoo, a deep moisturizing mask, and a leave-in balm for dry hair.I have thin, wavy hair just below my shoulders. Normal on roots and dry along the entire length. I constantly struggle with hair loss and dryness. I used to constantly paint them and burn them with a hairdryer and an iron, but since they began to fall out strongly, I stopped and now I am taking good care of them.

A little about the company:
All Neutrogena products are recommended by dermatologists and are formulated with years of experience and research from Johnson & Johnson Corporation.Hypoallergenic cosmetics recommended by dermatologists, non-clogging pores, alcohol-free and odorless.
I respect and trust this firm. Their products are not enough stars from the sky, but they always fulfill everything that the manufacturer promised. I have tried many of their products (face, body, hair) and none of them disappointed me. Everything is cheap and cheerful with them.

Now let’s move on to the culprits of this post.
Neutrogena Anti-Residue formula-Weekly Deep Cleansing Shampoo: Bottle in a cardboard box.The manufacturer promises to wash 90% of various residues from styling products, conditioners, etc. Suitable for all hair types, I use this shampoo once a week after oil masks. Perfectly rinses the hair the first time and cleans it clearly to the point of squeakiness. In consistency, it is a transparent viscous gel, very economical. This bottle is enough for me for half a year somewhere. Smells like a mixture of Christmas tree and menthol Ingredients: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Citric Acid, DMDM Hydantoin, Fragrance.
He dries my hair and after that I always make a mask. I have no complaints about him and I don’t even want to try something new.
