1. How do FriXion products work?

Our FriXion products’ ink “erases” due to PILOT’s exclusive thermo-sensitive ink technology. When you want to make corrections on your page, simply turn around your FriXion pen and rub with the FriXion eraser tip as if using a regular pencil eraser. While rubbing, the ink heats up to over 60°C and becomes invisible. Conversely, the ink reappears at temperatures of under -10°C.

2. Help! I use FriXion pens and my notebook / page is now empty without a trace of my work! What should I do?

Leaving items such as notebooks, homework or paper near heaters, in a car on a hot day or even putting pages through repeated photocopying, can heat the paper sufficiently to make FriXion ink invisible. If you find your page to be empty, simply put it in the freezer for a short period of time. Our thermo-sensitive ink reappears at around -10°C, so your work should reappear once more when the pages sufficiently cool.

3. Help! I left my FriXion pens outside in the heat and now they no longer work!

Just as the ink disappears when pages are left in the heat, so can the ink inside the FriXion pens. If your pen doesn’t seem to be writing, try to remember whether the pen may have been over-exposed to heat. If so, try putting your pen in the freezer until it sufficiently cools. After taking your pen out of the freezer and letting it readjust to room temperature, it should write again like new.

4. Where can I find a Pilot reseller?

Our products are sold by all the leading supermarkets and hypermarkets and by the majority of news agencies and office suppliers. Nevertheless, if you are having difficulties finding one of our products in particular, please do not hesitate to contact us. Wherever possible, we will give you the name of your closest reseller.

Using a centralised order process, we make frequent deliveries to our sellers via a central warehouse. So, we do not always know what is delivered to which store.

5. Is there a risk when using a Pilot product on an airplane?

Only liquid ink products from our V-System range require your attention on an airplane. They are easily identifiable by their name which starts with a V: V5, V-Ball, V-Pen, etc….

If you are taking a V-System product with you on a flight, remove the cap with the pen pointing upwards. This avoids potential leaks caused by cabin pressure during the flight.

Only the liquid ink models V5/7 RT and V-Ball 5/7 RT are guaranteed completely leak free on airplanes without any special handling.

6. Are Pilot products safe for children?

All of the inks and barrels used in our products have been designed for maximum safety, particularly with regards to children. For example, our markers do not contain toxic solvents such as Xylene or Toluene.

Furthermore, the caps on our non-retractable models satisfy the ISO 11540 standard. They are equipped with a ventilation system which allows breathing in case the cap is ingested.

Finally, our internal services have all our product components available immediately on digital media in order to assist the medical profession in the event of serious accidents.

7. How do I start the ink in some of the markers?

Before the first use of our Gold or Silver type markers, we recommend you follow these instructions:

  • Phase 1: Gently shake the marker with the cap on.
  • Phase 2: Once the cap is removed, gently press the nib on the paper, so that it is pushed into the body of the product. The valve is activated and frees the ink.
  • Phase 3: The marker is ready, you can write.

In order to retain all the technical qualities of our markers, we recommend that you ensure the cap is replaced firmly after use and they are stored horizontally.

8. How do I remove ink from clothing?

Firstly, avoid washing the soiled clothing before removing the stain, which risks permanently setting the ink.

There are several tips for removing ink from clothing:

  • Spray hair spray on the stain, blot away the surplus spray using a clean cloth or absorbent paper, then wash normally.
  • Soak your clothing in hot milk for several hours, rinse in plenty of water then wash normally.
  • Place the article on a clean white cloth and dab the stain with another white cloth soaked in white vinegar or 90% proof alcohol. Wash normally.

9. Where can I find refills, cartridges or even leads or eraser refills?

Our objective is to be able to offer a wide range of writing instruments, but also that your writing pleasure with your Pilot pen does not stop when it needs refilling. In addition to being economical, refilling your pens is environmentally friendly.

That’s why we want to offer this type of service in specialist news agencies or even department stores.

The 9 Best Journaling Pens of 2021

We are committed to researching, testing, and recommending the best products. We may receive commissions from purchases made after visiting links within our content. Learn more about our review process.

The right pens can completely transform your journaling experience. Some pens are perfect for creating precise lines or writing in small spaces, while others are ideal for adding colorful details to your pages. If you like to add a bit of calligraphy to your journal pages, then brush pens are essential. And of course, you always need basic pens for your everyday journaling.

Here, you’ll find the best journaling pens for various styles, creating exciting page spreads, as well as adding decorative elements to each of your journal pages. The pens have a variety of nib sizes (the part of the pen that comes in contact with the paper) to allow you to create lines and embellishments of different thicknesses. No matter your journaling style or preference, you’ll find the best pens for your needs on this list.

Final Verdict

Choosing a set of pens with an array of nib sizes is a great way to experiment with your journaling. The affordable Sakura Micron Pen Set (view on Amazon) is a durable and bleed-free choice that will last for years. If you’d like to brighten up your pages with pops of color and illustrations, add on a set of colored pens, too. You can’t go wrong with the Papermate Inkjoy Gel Pens (view on Amazon) thanks to their comfortable grip and lovely hues.

What to Look for in Journaling Pens

Smooth Lines

There’s nothing worse than ending up with smears of ink across the page while writing. When you journal, you’ll want to look for pens that are smooth and controlled, don’t bleed, and allow you to clearly sketch even the smallest details.

Pen Type

Rollerball pens, colored gel pens, fountain pens, brush pens, and markers—these can all be used when journaling, but it really is a matter of preference. Most people who love to journal use a variety of pens and switch between them depending on if they’re extensively writing, doodling, or want to use lots of colors for illustrations.

Nib Size

Ranging from 0.2mm to 1mm, the nib size of your pen is another matter of preference. Generally, if you write small or want to sketch something detailed, you’ll want to go for a finer tip. (To give you an idea, the most common ballpoint pens are usually 1mm. ) Whereas for coloring or if you’re illustrating large headers, a higher point size will serve you well.

Grip

A journaling pen needs to be comfortable in your hand, so think about the thickness that feels best for you. Some pens also have ergonomic or comfort grips, which can help prevent hand soreness from long writing sessions.

The Only Guide You’ll Ever Need

Adding foil elements to paper projects is something that continues to excite and simultaneously mystify crafters across the globe.

  • What is the best way to add foil to a handmade card or layout?
  • Do I need a machine? Wait, do I need 2 machines?
  • Which foil works with what and. ..I think I need heat…or was it glue? I’m sure I read that somewhere?

All these questions (and more!) will be answered in this ultimate guide to crafting with foil. You’ll not only understand the ins and outs of picking the right foil to buy, but you’ll be able to make an informed decision on which type of foil technique is going to work best for you

You want to foil all the things. What next? Not all foil is created equally. It’s important to know about the different types of foil and how they work, especially so you don’t end up buying a foil that is incompatible with how you intend to use it.

  • Heat Foil: Turn up the heat to work with this style of foil! A significant heat source is required to transfer the shiny foil onto your project. These include Papercraft Foil Rolls by Crafter’s Companion, Glimmer Hot Foil Rolls by Spellbinders, and Foil Quill Rolls and Sheets by We R Memory Keepers.
  • Reactive Transfer Foil: Using heat with the addition of a reactive agent such as specialized transfer gel, transfer paint, or ink toner, you can transfer foil onto your project. This type of foil is generally used with a heat laminator or MINC machine and includes Heidi Swapp MINC Reactive Foil, Therm O Web iCraft Deco Foil Transfer Sheets, and Gina K Therm O Web Fancy Foils.
  • Adhesive Foil: With the use of liquid or sheet adhesive, the foil transfers onto the tacky surface in the shape or design of the adhesive. These types of foils include Prima’s Rub On Foil Sheets, Ranger Ink Foil Sheets, and Re-Design Decor Foil Sheets.

No! Not at all! Foiling is not what it used to be. Nowadays, there are a variety of methods and helpful products to ensure you get the exact type and design of foiling you want. And the best part might be the glimmering rainbow of foil options available!

There are also some crafting hacks for using foil in ways it wasn’t even intended to be used. More on that later! But first, let’s talk about some of the ways to get foil on your projects.

The Foil Quill Freestyle Pens by We R

Foil Compatibility: Heat Foil

The newest foiling device on the market, the Freestyle Pen, allows for you to foil anywhere with no machine required! Just plug and play – literally!

Reminiscent of the original Heatwave Pen, but with some key upgrades, the Freestyle Pen is a specialized heat pen that allows you to put tip to foil and add shining designs to almost anywhere. Available in four tip width options – standard, fine, bold, and calligraphy – you can foil on a wealth of various surfaces including acetate, plastic, wood, leather, and more.

If you can write or draw it, now you can foil it!

  • Plug the pen’s power cord into a battery back, computer USB port, or other USB power source. The light at the end of the pen will turn on when it’s connected to a power source and your pen will begin heating up.
  • Choose your material or the surface you want to foil on and pick a brilliant color of foil.
  • Place your foil on top of the material you’re foiling and pull it taught, securing with low-tack tape or magnets (if applicable).
  • After a few minutes, your pen is ready to create magic. Touch the pen tip to the foil and start writing or drawing to transfer the foil onto your surface.
  • When you’re done, peel the foil away to see your amazing foiled creation!

This is truly the foiling device for the artist or writer. If you’re passionate about freehand drawing, this gives you the ability to freehand foil. If calligraphy or hand lettering is what you love to do, then you will be positively obsessed with these pens.

Not an artist or hand lettering wiz? You can pair the Freestyle Pen with stencils to guide your designs, or even stamp directly on the foil with StazOn ink and trace the lines to transfer a perfectly foiled design.

Of all the foiling options, this one is certainly the most portable. Anywhere you can bring a USB battery pack, you can plug in your Freestyle Pen and be foiling within minutes!

And while you can’t use the Freestyle Pen in conjunction with an electronic die cutting machine, the next product was designed specifically with that in mind!

The Glimmer Hot Foil System from Spellbinders

Foil Compatibility: Heat Foil

If you’re more of a manual die cutter, then the Glimmer Hot Foil System is the foiling option for you! This electricity-powered heat platform sits in a handy docking station where it gets hot, hot, hot for rolling through your die cutting machine for foiling your projects.

Contrary to popular belief, there are a bunch of die cutting machines that work with the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System.

Manual Die Cutting Machine Compatibility:

  • Spellbinders Platinum
  • Spellbinders Platinum 6
  • Spellbinders Artomology Platinum 6 Deep Sea Die Cutter by Jane Davenport
  • Sizzix Big Shot
  • Sizzix Big Shot Plus
  • Sizzix Big Shot Express
  • Sizzix Big Kick
  • Sizzix Vagabond
  • Sizzix Vagabond 2
  • We R Evolution
  • Other steel rule die compatible die cutting machines with a platform length of at least 6″
  • Plug in your machine and place the Glimmer Hot Foil Platform into the charging base. Also get your die cutting machine ready by removing any adapters or cutting pads.
  • Turn on the system and wait for it to fully heat up; the three handy system lights will help you know when it’s ready.
  • Take your Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil Plate and place it on the rubber portion of the platform face up. Press the timer button. This measures the appropriate amount of time to fully heat your plate. When it’s ready, the timer button turns solid green.
  • Place your foil shiny side down on top of the Glimmer Plate. Then add your desired material on top of it. If using cardstock, make sure you use a smooth texture for the best coverage. Also, be careful – the platform and the plate will be very hot.
  • Add the included shim and spacer plate next. Carefully remove the platform from the system and place on your die cutting machine platform.
  • Slowly run the Glimmer Hot Foil platform through your die cutting machine. Once it’s done, remove the shims and your material. Slowly peel the foil away to reveal your amazing foiled design!
  • Too much foil? Try cutting down your foil to just slightly over the size of your Glimmer Plate and rounding the edges as well. If you end up with foil where you don’t want it, simply use an eraser to gently remove excess foil from edges.
  • Not enough foil or coverage is uneven? Each Glimmer Plate and die cutting machine is different. Try playing around with shims like cardstock to apply more pressure.
  • Place the Glimmer Hot Foil platform back in the charging base to begin heating up again for another foiled masterpiece!

For manual die cutters looking to add some sparkle or shine in amazing designs, this is the foiling system for you! It’s an amazing way to extend the possibilities of your die cutting machine while creating brilliant projects. It’s also super simple to use and operate with just one button to control the heat!

In addition to foiling with the Glimmer Hot Foil Plates, you can also use them to emboss unbelievable impressions into paper or cardstock, and even use them with faux letterpress techniques.

You can also try out some of the wafer-thin metal dies in your collection to see what unique designs you can achieve when you “foil” with those! Picket Fence Studios also has a collection of foil dies that would work with this system.

Let this be the die cutting accessory of your shiny dreams!

See the video below for 10 super helpful tips for using this machine:

Gemini FoilPress Machine from Crafter’s Companion

Foil Compatibility: Heat Foil

If foiling is on your mind but safety is paramount to you enjoying some crafting with foils then the Gemini FoilPress is the way to go! Crafter’s Companion prides itself on the safety of their unit, as its the only foiling machine to have a temperature control feature that guarantees the FoilPress will not overheat.

It also has helpful cool down and auto-shutoff features, nice audible beeps to alert you of readiness, and a detailed instruction manual so you are always informed of the settings needed for every project.

Very similar to the previous machine from Spellbinders, this accessory for your Gemini Jr. or Gemini die cutting machines uses a charging base and heated platform along with specialized metal Stamp ‘n’ Cut Dies to add foil to your projects.

Manual Die Cutting Machine Compatibility:

  • Plug your machine in and insert the FoilPress Plate into the FoilPress Base. Switch it on. Also get your Gemini or Gemini Jr. machine ready!
  • Using your included instruction manual, refer to the helpful table detailing times and settings depending on the type and size of Foil Stamp Die or Foil Stamp ‘n’ Cut Die you’re using. Select the appropriate heat level and time using the handy LCD screen on the FoilPress Base.
  • Place your die onto the FoilPress Plate and press the start button. Allow the timer to count down; when it beeps, you’re ready for your foil.
  • Place your foil shiny side down on top of the die. Then add your desired material on top of it. Be careful – the platform and the plate will be very hot.
  • If you’re using a Stamp ‘n’ Cut Die that foils and die cuts a shape, place your metal shim on next. For just foiling, you would skip this step.
  • Next, add your heat plate. Carefully remove the platform from the system using the silicone finger grips to avoid burning your fingers. Feed the platform into your Gemini die cutting machine, grabbing it from the other side when it’s done.
  • Once it’s done, remove the shims and your material. Slowly peel the foil away to reveal your amazing foiled design!
  • Place the platform back in the charging base to begin heating up again for another foiled masterpiece!

For dedicated Gemini and Gemini Jr. die cutters who are yearning for some foiled accents, this is the system for you!

This system is also a wonder for controlling the times and temperatures needed for various sizes of dies and the thickness of the material you’re foiling onto! It may take a little more effort to control, but those settings are there to ensure the absolute most perfect foiled impression for your project!

You can also use this system with some of the wafer-thin metal dies and Picket Fence Foil Dies (instructions for this are in the helpful guide) to create unique designs!

Do you want to foil on the go with your Gemini Jr. and your FoilPress? This system has a handy carrying case to get you ready for foiling at a crop, class or friend’s house!

The MINC by Heidi Swapp

Foil Compatibility: Reactive Transfer Foil

The MINC by Heidi Swapp is a fan favorite that’s been around for several years. Available in a gorgeous 12″ scrapbook page size, and a handy, portable 6″ size, the MINC Foil Applicator is a heat laminator style of foiling system.

Even though this system uses heat, it’s very different from all the other foiling options on our list. To achieve beautiful foiled results, this system requires a reactive agent to transfer foil from a sheet to your project.

In most cases, that reactive agent is toner ink but you can also purchase specialized transfer gel, transfer paint, and even transfer toner ink pens!

Therm O Web even released a specialized Transfer Gel DUO that allows you to transfer foil or flock using a heat laminator or a die cutting machine’s pressure. Transfer foil without heat? Yes, please!

  • Plug your MINC machine in and turn it into the “on” position using the switch on the back.
  • Ensure that the machine is in the “forward” direction using the other switch on the back of the machine. This ensures your project easily feeds through the machine.
  • Hit the gold button on the top to activate the machine. The 0 light will turn on indicating zero heat. Hitting the gold button again selects a heat setting from 0 to 5. Thin materials need the least amount of heat and thick materials the most heat.
  • Once you’ve selected a heat setting, allow the indicator light to turn green and beep, letting you know it’s ready for use.
  • A transfer sheet or folder is needed to run your project through the MINC. Place your project with an appropriate reactive agent (toner ink, transfer gel, or transfer paint) on it into the folder, face up.
  • Place the reactive transfer foil on top of your project, shiny side up, covering all the reactive agent areas.
  • Close your transfer sheet and smooth it out before feeding it into your MINC. The machine’s rollers will grab the sheet and roll it through.
  • Open your transfer sheet to see the gorgeous foil transferred onto your project in the exact design you wanted!

The MINC Collection is not just a scrapbooker or cardmaker’s dream foil system, it’s also great for planner lovers, home decor gurus, and DIYers who love making party favors and decorations.

Heidi Swapp’s extensive collection of ephemera, pages, kits, and prints with reactive agent toner ink already on them makes it easier than ever to get amazing foiled designs for your projects.

Also, if you have an ink toner laser printer at home, whatever you can print out, you can turn into foiled brilliance!

Adding Foil with Adhesive

Foil Compatibility: Adhesive Foil

If you want to be a fab foiler but don’t want to mess around with heat, power, machines, reactive agents, and all that, you can still get your shine on with good old fashioned adhesive.

There are a few options for foiling with adhesive. Both Prima and Re-Design offer transfer image sheets that are filled with sticky designs meant to be covered with foil. Just lay down the transfer image on your material of choice and place the foil sheet on top to get it to stick down in the exact pattern of the sticky images.

But what about using ordinary double-sided adhesive and foils? Can it be done? Of course it can!

  • Take your cardstock or material and decide what pattern you want to make with foil. You can do stripes, random pieces, or a whole circle or square.
  • Add your clear double-sided adhesive onto your material by peeling one side of the backing away and placing it on your project. Trim off any excess.
  • Smooth the adhesive down firmly, and then remove the top layer of the adhesive backing to expose the sticky part facing up.
  • Place the foil down on top of your adhesive, shiny side up, making sure all the sticky areas are covered entirely. Gently press down. This will transfer the thin foil layer onto your adhesive.
  • Lift the foil sheet to reveal the shininess that has been stuck to the adhesive!
  • NOTE: Adhesive foil and reactive transfer foil can be used for this technique (not heat foil)!

While this foiling technique seems too good to be true, it’s important to note that the visual aesthetic for this type of foiling is a tad grungier than most. It’s also easy for the foil to get scratched so being careful with your finished foiled project is a must.

Your best bet is to use super sticky adhesive to get the best transfer of the foil onto your project.

You can even use this same technique with a liquid glue pen. Just add a thin layer of details or words with your glue pen, allow it to dry to tacky, and then press the transfer foil on top to get the shiny layer to stick to the tacky glue – brilliant!

As a creative crafter, we know you will find endless possibilities for working with foil not outlined in this helpful how-to. Remember that you can write your own rules when it comes to foil and use all the shiny things however you please.

If you’re new to foiling, and maybe want to see how it looks on your projects before investing in a system or machine, remember that all types of foil can be cut to size and glued to your project with a little liquid adhesive, or an adhesive sheet and smoothed out.

Try experimenting with die cutting pieces of adhesive-foiled cardstock into shapes and sentiments. Or place a piece of perfectly-sized foil behind a die cut window on your layout or card.

Play around with all the shiny possibilities and have fun!

We hope this comprehensive article has been helpful in eliminating a lot of the shiny grey area when it comes to foiling. Share helpful veteran foiling techniques and tips in the comments to help your fellow foiling friends so their crafting future can shine!

5 Common Fountain Pen Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them!

So, you just started out in your new hobby. Who knew that there was an entire world and community based solely around pens? As you are perusing Pen Chalet, you start wondering to yourself, “These fountain pens are an investment. Are there any fountain pen pitfalls that I need to look out for?” Fortunately for you, we have just what you’re looking for! Here are 5 common fountain pen pitfalls and how to avoid them!

Fountain Pen Pitfalls: #1 Not Cleaning your Fountain Pen

Fountain Pen Pitfalls: #1

Unlike most ballpoint pens, fountain pens, require a little maintenance. One of the most common maintenance requirements is a simple cleaning. Not cleaning your fountain pen can lead to the ink drying in the feed and causing clogs. Although this may seem rather serious, it is simple to fix and simple to prevent. If you’ve not cleaned out your fountain pen, simply take a bulb syringe and flush water through it until the water comes out clear. If you’re unsure how to clean out your fountain pen, check out our How to Clean a Cartridge/Converter Fountain Pen video.

Fountain Pen Pitfalls: #2 Writing With Too Much Pressure

Fountain Pen Pitfalls: #2

One of the great benefits of using a fountain pen, is that they require little to no pressure to write. In fact, writing with too much pressure can cause a nib to look like this poor fellow pictured to our right. If you write with too much pressure, you can bend the tines out of position, or even “spring” the nib. A “sprung” nib is one that has been lifted off of the feed due to a bend in the main body of the nib. Do note, however, that it requires a decent amount of force to cause this amount of damage to a nib. If you are concerned that you may be writing with too much pressure, practice writing with a mechanical pencil with .4 (or smaller) lead until you are confident that you won’t break the lead.

Fountain Pen Pitfalls: #3 Using the Wrong Inks

Fountain Pen Pitfalls: #3

Likely the most intriguing part of the fountain pen hobby is not the pen, but instead the hundreds of inks that you can use. You may be tempted while you are at your local craft or hobby store, to pick up a bottle of some cheap ink. Make sure that you read the labels as there are many inks which are not intended for fountain pens. Some inks, including India Inks, Calligraphy Inks, and others, are made solely to be used by dip pens. These inks are very harmful for fountain pens, and are not designed to flow through a feed. We have seen far too many clogged, melted, and permanently stained fountain pens. Always read the label, and stay with inks specifically designed for use in fountain pens.

Fountain Pen Pitfalls: #4 Using the Wrong Cleaning Solution

Fountain Pen Pitfalls: #4

Sometimes you have to use something a little stronger than water to get your pens clean. It is very important to know what cleaning solution to use, and when to use it. Never use rubbing alcohol to clean any part of your fountain pens. Rubbing alcohol is a harsh chemical that can eat at, and ruin, your delicate fountain pens. If you need to clean out some tough stains use a small amount of Pen Flush. You can soak your pens, feeds, and nibs in pen flush, however we do not advise to do so for very long. If you want to soak your pens overnight, it is best to soak them in water overnight, or water with a few drops of dish soap. Beware of ammonia with aluminium pens. Ammonia reacts chemically with aluminium, and will cause damage to your aluminium pens. Most pen flush uses ammonia as a main ingredient, so be sure to read the ingredients carefully. For aluminium pens, we advise to remove the nib and feed for cleaning. Otherwise, use only water with a few drops of dish soap while cleaning your aluminium pens.

Fountain Pen Pitfalls: #5 Not Using Your Fountain Pens

Fountain Pen Pitfalls: #5

All fountain pens are functioning works of art. They are the extension of your thoughts to the page. It is a great tragedy to see these works of art sit unused in a desk, on a shelf, or in a box. If you leave ink in your fountain pen and don’t use your it for awhile, it will likely have issues with hard starting. Ink will dry up on the nib or in the feed, and will have trouble flowing. There are many great methods you can use to keep your pens in use and flowing. One such method, is to create a daily rotation of pens. Each day use a different pen, or set of pens, then the day before. Another method is to take up a hobby such as keeping a journal, that encourages more fountain pen use. Also, it’s always a good idea to never have more pens inked than you can keep in a regular rotation.

Fountain pens are great writing instruments that allow writers to use a variety of inks as well as writing tip sizes that cannot be accomplished with other types of pens. Once you understand a few simple things to care for them, they will last a lifetime and bring hours of enjoyment to the writer.

Solutions: Straws and Pens

Q1: When you first pull the straw out of the paper there is a static electric charge present. Where do you think this charge originated from?

One conclusion is that friction between the paper and straw caused a separation of charge leaving one item positively charged and the other negatively charged.

Q2: The Coulomb force (attractive or repulsive force between charged objects) between the paper and the straw allows you to initially attract the paper and “lift” it off of the table. What must be true of the relative sizes of Coulomb force  and force due to Gravity for the paper to be lifted by static electricity?

The Coulomb force must be greater than the force due to gravity in order to lift the paper.

Q3: Why won’t the straw pick up the paper after you wipe the straw through your bare hand a few times?

The straw has an electric charge because of an excess or lack of electrons. As you wipe the straw with your hand electrons are transferred between the your hand and the straw, leaving the straw electrically neutral.

Q4: What does rubbing the plastic pen or the straw over fabric do to the pen and straw?

The friction created by rubbing the pen against another surface causes electrons to be transferred, leaving the pen or straw electrically charged.

Q5: Why does the straw “spin” when you hold the end of the pen near it? What would happen if you rubbed the pen over a different material, like rubber or leather and then brought the pen near the straw? See the table of triboelectronegativities.

Depending on the kind of charge gained by the pen, the end of the straw will either be attracted or repelled by the end of the pen causing the straw to spin. Depending on the relative triboelectronegativities of the two materials the pen will either gain or lose electrons. The straw was most likely negatively charged. Rubbing the pen on fabric most likely left it with a negative charge. Under these conditions the straw and pen would repel each other. Rubbing the pen on rubber would most likely leave it with a positive charge. Under this condition the straw and pen would attract each other.

Q6: Draw a free-body diagram of the paper while it is being lifted by the straw. Label the Coulomb force and force due to gravity and indicate their relative sizes

Fc = Fg  for lift at a constant velocity

Fc > Fg  for acceleration

Advanced Question: What must be the minimum electric force present for you to lift the paper if you know its mass is 0. 15 grams?

The paper is accelerated upward therefore there must be a net force acting on it. The Coulomb force must be greater then the force due to gravity.

Fc >Fg

Fg = mg = (.15 g)(1 kg / 1000 g)(9.8 m/s2) = 1.47 x 10-3 N

Fc must be greater than 1.47 x 10-3 N

Tips and Tricks to Become an Expert— Ink Factory

Most people only use dry erase markers to scribble a few words here or there on a whiteboard. At Ink Factory, the whiteboard is a huge part of our day-to-day. In fact, we have over 500 square feet of whiteboards in our studio that we can cover with dry erase drawings!

We’ve talked about ways to maximize your office’s whiteboard, but how about becoming an expert at dry erase drawings? Here are some helpful tips and tricks to help boost your dry-erase drawing abilities.

Supplies

First off, check your markers to make sure they are not dried up. When markers are dry, it they become very hard to use and the ink is harder to see. We recommend stocking up on lots of fresh markers. Black is the most often used, so make sure to double or triple up on your black marker inventory. We also like to reduce waste by using refillable dry-erase markers.

There are different types of marker tips for dry-erase markers. They are typically chisel-tip markers, but some also come as bullet tips. Here is the difference between the two:

Chisel tips are great to use because they are actually two tips in one! The fatter side lets you draw a thicker line, while the thinner side gives you a skinnier line. Your writing will look cleanest if you chose one side and stick with it as you write. That makes your letters more consistent.

Bullet tips only have one line width, so you do not have to worry about the angle you are holding a bullet tip at. They are less common for dry erase markers, but provide a very even line and are great to take advantage of if you have some! Generally, bullet tips are better to use for writing or outlining instead of coloring because of the width of the tip.

Handwriting Practice for Dry Erase Drawings

It helps to practice your handwriting using dry erase markers. The markers themselves feel different writing with a pen or pencil. The surface you are writing on is also very different since it will be vertical instead of on a table or other horizontal writing surface.

It also helps to practice because most of the time other people are going to be reading what you write down. It’s okay to give yourself a little bit of extra time as you write to make sure that your handwriting is legible. You will also be writing a bit larger than you are used to, so we recommend practicing writing letters about 1-inch tall or more.

If you are writing down notes during a meeting on a whiteboard, try to focus on writing down only the main points and not necessarily every word. As you filter out information in your head, it gives you more time to focus on making a few words really easy to read instead of quickly scribbling down as many words as possible. You can also find some tips on note-taking here.

Erasing Dry Erase Marker Ink

One of the best features of dry-erase markers is the erasing! Once dry, the ink wipes off very cleanly. You can use this to your advantage. Some great erasing tools include your finger, a pencil eraser, or a microfiber cloth. Once you have let the ink dry on the drawing surface, use one of these tools to help straighten a line, clean up edges on a shape, or even write on top of a solid color. Just make sure to let the ink dry– wet ink smudges if you wipe it too early. To help the ink dry, simply blow air onto it – it should dry almost instantly!

This also means that the ink can be easily erased on accident. Someone leaning up against the board or your hand resting on a drawn image may wipe off part of your hard work. One way to avoid this is by using your pinky to stabilize your hand while drawing on the board instead of using your whole hand. That will make the amount of board you need to touch while drawing much smaller and help prevent wiping off your other content.

Coloring Tips

Dry erase markers feel different than normal markers when you are trying to cover a larger surface. Have you ever tried to color with a dry-erase marker and it just ends up erasing itself as you go? That can get pretty frustrating. Here are some tips to get the most out of your marker as you cover a larger area:

  • Take it slow. If you try to cover a large area really quickly, the marker’s ink can’t keep up. Go a little slower and more deliberate than usual. This will help you get a fuller color.
  • Go smaller with lines. While you’re coloring in slowly, you can also cover more space if you work smaller than usual. It may seem counter-intuitive, but smaller lines also help use the dry-erase ink to the fullest.

Another helpful trick is to start off with the color and finish with the outline of shape as opposed to the other way around. This is especially true if it’s a light color with a black outline. Even if the ink dries, it still is very easy to erase or mix in if lighter colors touch it.

If you need to draw your image first before starting to color, you can do this with pencil. Yes, you can draw right on the board! Pencil will erase easily with the same spray that takes off the marker. Draw very lightly with pencil, color in with your chosen color, and then draw over your outline with black, and there is a clean, colored image!

These are a few ways to make you a dry erase marker expert! If you want to learn more about making the most out of the whiteboards in your office, attend one of our visual note-taking workshops!

What’s the difference between ink feathering, bleeding and ghosting?

You may have heard the terms “feathering”, “bleeding”, and “ghosting” before and wondered what they meant. They all refer to how ink interacts with paper. Of course, you’ll probably remember that with fountain pens there are three things that matter: the pen you use, the ink you use, and the paper you use. So while feathering, bleeding, and ghosting all have to do with paper and ink, does the pen you use matter at all? In this article I’ll talk about the difference between ink feathering, bleeding and ghosting and how you can minimize each one.

Fountain Pen Ink and Paper

At the heart of writing with a fountain pen, you’re going to have the pen, some ink and a piece of paper. Every pen will have a different nib, which will allow a certain amount of ink to flow onto the paper. All inks are formulated differently, which means some are more saturated or take longer to dry than others. Paper also has a variety of variables, with the main differences being paper thickness and fiber size.

All of these factor into how an ink and paper interact. Ideally, ink will go onto paper without any feathering, bleeding or ghosting. Of course, this isn’t always the case. To see why, let’s go into a bit more detail about what each of these problems are and what causes them.

What Is Ink Feathering?

You may have experienced ink feathering if you’ve ever used your fountain pen on low-quality paper such as newspaper or cheap copy paper. Feathering occurs when paper has fibers that are highly absorbent, which means they more readily pull ink from your pen via capillary action. Here is an example of what feathering looks like:

Here you can see heavy feathering While paper is the main culprit in feathering, it is not the only factor. The nib you use can also play a big role in ink feathering. A juicy, wet nib that lays down a lot of ink has a higher chance of feathering than a dry, fine nib. The ink also factors into feathering. Some inks are wetter than others, which causes them to feather more readily than other inks. The Noodlers ink feathered on this paper, while the Diamine did not. To avoid ink feathering, the main thing you’ll want to do is use fountain-pen friendly paper. Of course, you’ll still want to make sure to pay attention to the pens and inks that you use. You may find that certain combinations are more likely to feather than others. By realizing which combinations are potentially troublesome, you can either stop using them or only use them with particular papers that you know they work on.

Low Feathering Notebook Recommendation: Midori MD Notebook

One thing you should know about feathering is that it can sometimes happen in unexpected places on paper that doesn’t normally feather. We’ve probably all experienced random feathering on paper that has never feathered before. If this has happened to you, chances are it was caused by oils from your skin on the paper. If you want to see for yourself how this happens, try this little experiment. Rub your finger across your nose, forehead or other part of your body with a bit of oil on it. Now touch your finger to a piece of paper. When you write across the bit of paper you touched, there is a good chance the ink will feather in that particular spot! To prevent this from happening while you’re writing, you can put another piece of paper between your hand and the paper you’re writing on, which should protect it from the oils on your skin.

You can see the feathering at the beginning of this word, which is where my skin oil was.

What Is Ink Bleeding?

Bleeding occurs when ink soaks through a piece of paper to the other side. This is a problem because you might not be able to write on both sides of a piece of paper if it bleeds too much. It also means that ink might soak through onto the next piece of paper or even the surface you’re writing on!

You can see the ink actually bled through this page to the other side. As with feathering, the pen, ink and paper you use can all influence whether your writing will bleed or not. While using a high quality paper will decrease the chances of it happening, the pen and ink that you use will also affect bleeding. In my personal ink journal (which uses Tomoe River paper), I don’t see any ink bleeding through to the other side with normal writing, but do notice it with many highly-saturated inks when I do an ink splat. While this is more ink than any pen will ever put down onto paper, it should demonstrate that even papers that don’t typically bleed are not 100% bleed-proof. The red on the left page is ink that has actually soaked through from the other side.

Low Bleeding Notebook Recommendation: Life Noble Note Notebook

What Is Ink Ghosting?

Even if you’re familiar with ink feathering and bleeding, ink ghosting might be a term you haven’t heard before. Ghosting occurs when you can see the writing on one side of the paper from the other side. It doesn’t mean that the ink has actually bled through to the other side. It simply means you can see it. Ghosting can be an issue if you like writing on both sides of a piece of paper. Excessive ghosting can make writing hard to read, since the writing on one side of a piece of paper can interfere with the writing on the other side.

This paper has very light ghosting. The writing on the other side does not interfere with the writing you see. This paper has very heavy ghosting (and even a bit of bleeding). The writing on the other side does interfere with the writing you see. As you’ve probably guessed by now, the combination of pen, ink and paper all influence whether or not ghosting will occur. While paper quality has a big impact on whether or not an ink will feather or bleed, paper thickness plays a big role in ghosting. Tomoe River 52gsm paper is a very high quality paper that rarely feathers or bleeds, but it is more prone to ghosting simply because it is so thin.

Low Ghosting Notebook Recommendation: Black n’ Red Spiral Notebook

Of course, paper thickness is not the only factor that influences ghosting. Take a look at these pages from my notebook where I write my daily to-do lists. While it’s all the same paper, you can see that different pen and ink combinations all interact with it differently and have different amounts of ghosting. This is also the same paper that you can see the back of in the bleeding section.

This ink/pen combination tends to have medium ghosting in my journal. This ink/pen combination tends to have light ghosting in my journal.

Keep Experimenting

The good news is that there are many different pen, ink, and paper combinations out there that will allow you to write without any feathering, bleeding, or ghosting. The bad news is that finding the combinations that work for you might take a little experimenting. But is it really bad news? Most of us enjoy using fountain pens as more than just utilitarian writing instruments. Finding combinations of pen, ink, and paper that not only don’t write poorly but also work exceptionally well is part of the fun!

If you’ve experienced feathering with a particular ink, try it with a new pen and see what happens. If you find one pen and ink combination tends to bleed through one type of paper, try another type of paper. If you get heavy ghosting while writing to your pen pals, the solution might be as simple as using a different ink.

How to remove ink stains and ballpoint pen

March 5, 2020

A person is not born with skills. You have to learn to walk, write, speak. And mistakes are inevitable. So, when a child learns to write, hands and face in highly artistic symbols are the norm. And if very young children fall into the hands of a pen, then there is only an eye and an eye behind it! Walls, furniture, clothes – everything will be in the kid’s art.

Adults most often encounter this type of stain when refilling cartridges. In general, information on how to remove ink stains will not be superfluous.

Method one – dry cleaning

The most efficient and cost-effective way. But it doesn’t always make sense.

Jackets, coats, trousers, and other types of expensive outerwear should no doubt be cleaned. Professional cleaning of T-shirts, shirts, home jersey does not make sense, it can be more expensive than buying a new thing. Just like you can’t carry furniture, wallpaper, plastic panels to the dry-cleaner …

Method two – stain remover

There is no one-size-fits-all stain remover. Some products are suitable for white fabrics, some for carpets. If you have the means to buy everything at once and a place where the battery of bottles can be stored, you can use household chemicals. But in fact, stains can be removed with improvised means.

Home remedies

Here’s what we may need to remove ballpoint pen stains:

  • Alcohol;
  • Salt;
  • Milk;
  • Starch;
  • Ammonia;
  • Hydrogen peroxide;
  • Citric acid;
  • Laundry soap;
  • Vinegar.

Quite unexpected remedies, such as hairspray, can also be used.

One of the most effective ballpoint pen remedies is rubbing alcohol. It is suitable for ink stains and scribbles with ballpoint and gel pens. The process of removing ink stains is standard, we have already talked about it here.

What is the difference between cleaning stains of different origins on different surfaces

We sort all kinds of stains from writing utensils:

  • Ink;
  • Ballpoint pen;
  • Gel pen.

If ink stains are spilled on clothing, remove the dirt first. For this, salt, talcum powder, chalk are perfect. Sprinkle the powder over the stain and let it sit for 2-3 hours. After that, you can remove the stain and wash the item in the washing machine.

As we already wrote above, one of the most effective remedies against ink is ordinary medical alcohol, you can use ammonia, and if not, use vodka to scrub the stains.

Wine vinegar and regular milk are effective against gel pen stains. You need to soak the thing in it overnight, then check. If the stain has not gone away, remove it in another way. Wasted away – wash in a washing machine.

How to cleanse your skin

If ink stains are on your hands, wash them thoroughly with soap and then wipe with a soft cloth dampened with alcohol. After that, you need to wash your hands again so that there is no pungent smell.

For spots on your face where the skin is more delicate, you can use a hydrophilic oil.It washes away the most persistent makeup, and will work against ink.

If ink gets on the mucous membrane, it is important not to panic. Most often the eyes suffer, but in no case should they be rubbed, it will only get worse. What should be done:

  • Rinse eyes;
  • Call an ambulance or get to the emergency room on your own;
  • Strictly and scrupulously follow all the advice of doctors.

It is much easier to remove ink stains from artificial leather than from fabrics, since the leather does not absorb dirt. This can be done in the same way as from the body, that is, with the help of alcohol or laundry soap.

To remove ink stains from suede, in addition to stain removers, you will have to use a special brush or sandpaper.

Important! Do not use products on colored items that, in addition to destroying stains, also have a whitening effect. One such remedy is lemon juice (or acid).

90,000 How to wipe the ink off the pen?

The pen is a simple and familiar object, we use it regularly. And for schoolchildren and students, this subject is simply necessary every day.

But sometimes it happens that the ink leaks and leaves stains on different things. Even more incidents occur if this item falls into the hands of small children. And if ink from your fingers can, albeit not immediately, be washed off with soap in warm water, then it can be quite difficult to remove them from things.

So that there are no traces of ink left, and things are not damaged, stains must be washed correctly.

How to wash ink correctly?

Almost everyone has encountered stains from a ballpoint or gel pen. But not everyone knows if there are effective and safe means for things.

Fortunately, there are means and ways to wipe the pen, and there are quite a few of them. But they cannot be used indiscriminately – must be taken into account what material the soiled thing was made of.

Ballpoint and gel pens dissolve well alcohols and alcohol-containing liquids, acetone, gasoline, various solvents and even hairspray and face cream. But they can wash away paint from the surface of the material to be cleaned, leave unsightly streaks and even dissolve some materials.

There are also many folk remedies that we always have at hand. They act on various surfaces much softer, but they cope with the task just as well. However, they are not effective on all surfaces.

It should also be remembered that fresh stains are much easier to handle and remove.

Before using the product, it is always advisable to try how it will act on an inconspicuous area of the product.

How can a stain be removed from different surfaces?

In the process of work, a leaking handle can leave a stain on any object: on furniture, on the floor, on clothes and a bag.And children can even put a stain in the most incredible places.

From furniture

Most often stains appear on the table.

If the table is covered with plastic, try cleaning the ink with regular soap, dishwashing detergent, or other detergent. Wet wipes will do.

For large pen marks, you can use nail polish remover. It dissolves ink effectively, so be careful not to smudge it on a clean surface. Then wipe the table with a swab with the same liquid until the traces disappear completely. Finish cleaning with a damp cloth.

A fresh stain on the table can be removed with an eraser.

The tools that are at hand in the kitchen are also suitable.

If you have lemon , squeeze a few drops onto the ink.Leave it on for a couple of minutes to let the sour lemon juice dissolve the dirt and dry the table.

Schoolchildren often paint desks. It is best to try chalk-coated or oil-painted desks and wash them with regular detergent.

For a chair with a leatherette seat, use salt or baking soda .

Apply soap solution to the dirt, sprinkle with salt on top and wait 2-3 hours. Then remove the compound and wash the surface. Alternatively, make a gruel with baking soda and water and leave it on the stain until it dries. After drying, remove it from the surface, and wipe the chair with a soft, damp sponge.

Doors painted by a child are also washed. Do not rush with harsh chemicals – they will wash away the ink, but together with the ink can remove the paint layer from the door. Try to treat the stained area with grease – any will do, for example, vegetable oil available in every home .

It is possible to wipe ink stains from wood surfaces with a dishwashing detergent.

5 grams of this liquid (teaspoon) is mixed with a third glass of water. The solution must be mixed well to obtain a rich foam. Be sure to do a safety test for your furniture solution. If everything is in order, take some foam with a cotton swab or soft cloth and rub the stain. Then use a clean, damp swab to remove the remaining solution and dry the surface.

If the ink is deeply embedded in the wood, scrub the area with steel wool. Be very careful not to remove too much wood from the sponge.

Less aggressive wood agent – soda . Leave the gruel from it on the spot for a quarter of an hour, and then remove it with a clean, damp cloth.Dry the surface.

A well-proven product, White Spirit , is available in hardware stores. A safety test is mandatory. Apply white spirit to a rag and clean the stain. For stubborn stubborn stains, apply to a metal washcloth.

Then wipe the surface thoroughly.

Occasionally ink gets onto the lampshade of a table lamp.If it is glass, it is best to use soap solution or alcohol-based liquids. In this case, you need to ensure that the liquid does not wash off the paint from the lampshade, if it is colored. From a cloth or plastic lampshade, wash off the ink with soda gruel or soapy water.

There are even more ways to rinse the paste off linoleum. This is a very unpretentious material, so you can safely use both chemical liquids and much of what you have in your kitchen.

Wash off fresh stains with a soap solution or dishwashing liquid, hairspray or even an eraser.

Mix salt with citric acid and soak on the spot for a quarter of an hour, or apply mustard or soda gruel and wait longer. Warm vinegar, glycerin, hydrogen peroxide, and sulfur from matches can also help.

For linoleum, you can use gasoline or turpentine , nail polish remover. The liquid with which the machine is purified from bitumen is very effective.

From things

A dirty bag brings a lot of grief to a woman.

To remove handle marks on a leather or leatherette bag, it is best to use ready-made special preparations from the store. They will clean the product without spoiling it.

If this drug is not available, it does not matter. Every woman has face or hand cream, hairspray . They will do a great job with the problem. In addition, the cream will bring additional benefits to the leather bag.

The stain can also be washed off with soap, alcohol, cologne, soda gruel.

Today’s children go to school with backpacks, and mothers periodically have to clean them of ink.

Lightly moisten a fresh stain and sprinkle with salt.Leave the salt for a few hours, then gently remove.

To remove a stain from a backpack, you can use alcohol, vodka, any alcohol-containing liquid.

The only condition is that the liquid must be colorless, otherwise streaks may remain, which will then have to be disposed of.

Using a cotton swab moistened with liquid, gently blot the stain without rubbing it, so as not to increase the area of contamination. The dissolving ink will remain on the cotton. You will need to change your tampons frequently as it is a long and time-consuming procedure.

Items that have gotten inked will have to be washed. Washing with powder is usually good at removing pen marks, especially on fabrics made from man-made fibers. However, it is best to try to remove the stain before washing.

Use salt, soda. Do not experiment with corrosive liquids, some of which may damage the fabric.

An unconventional effective method. Pour kefir into a small vessel, and lower the stained place into it. Leave it for half an hour, and then wash the thing.

C leatherette

If you or your children get dirty on a sofa or chair upholstered with leatherette, then do not panic – there are many products that allow you to clean the surface.

Try washing off a fresh stain with soap.

Effective will be the use of ethyl or ammonia, glycerin, cologne.

Special stain removers made from natural or artificial leather are available for sale. When developing them, the features of the material are taken into account. Your job is to follow the instructions.

When it is not possible to visit a store, use the means that you probably have at home.

Prepare a mixture of soapy water and salt. Apply it on the stain, rub it a little and leave it on for a couple of hours. Then rinse and dry the area thoroughly.

Also baking soda, vinegar, lemon or citric acid will work. Lemon juice can be mixed with milk.

C plastic

There are many plastic parts and coatings in our domestic environment.

Since the plastic coating is quite resistant to various substances, you can use alcohol, vodka, lotion, eau de toilette and other alcohol-containing liquids available. To clean, apply liquid to a cotton swab and gently scrub the stain. Tampons are changed as they become dirty.

You can use an improvised tool – ordinary household matches. Their heads are moistened with water and the stains are rubbed on them until they disappear.

Silicone is a modern material; it is often used to make cases for phones and other items. Unfortunately, they also get ink, as we put them on the table, in the pocket of our clothes, or in the pocket of the bag along with the pens. You can remove the ink from the fountain pen from the silicone case with nail polish remover. You should take liquid without acetone.

The refrigerator can also come to the attention of young artists. Chemicals may not always help remove their designs from the refrigerator. In addition, chemicals can damage the surface.

Use an unconventional product: hairspray. Spray the design from a short distance until a small puddle forms. Then, wash the surface with a damp cloth.

With paper

Students, office workers and people of other professions who need to write a lot or fill out forms periodically face a problem – the document is damaged.

Small marks on some types of paper can be removed without the aid of any means.

Use a sharp blade to carefully cut or scrape off the ink stain. Then sand the area with a smooth object.

Be very careful not to remove too much of the paper. Never use the blade on thin paper.

There are also correction fluids. These are sold in the office supply departments. They are convenient to use, as they are equipped with a thin brush, dry quickly and you can write on top of them. True, it sometimes happens that they do not match the tone of the paper.

With the Corrector, you can remove the stain from the textbook and touch up the wallpaper on the white areas.

But you cannot use a corrector on some types of paper and on colored wallpaper.

If your child has painted the wallpaper, one of the common ways to remove his art from the wall is to use vinegar and potassium permanganate.

Dissolve the potassium permanganate crystals in vinegar. The color of the solution should be deep purple. Then, gently remove the ink lines with a thin brush or cotton swab.

From potassium permanganate on paper, stains may appear. After the paper is dry, remove any streaks using hydrogen peroxide.

peroxide itself can cope with a not very large mark from the handle.

Another way is to use lemon juice or as part of a mixture:

  • citric acid – 10 grams;
  • oxalic acid – 10 grams;
  • water – 0.5 cups.

In the same way – with a brush or cotton swab – remove the marks from the handle.

With rubber

There may be objects made of rubber in the house. If ink gets on them, you can clean it with solutions containing chlorine, or with bleach.

But these products can only be used for shoes, covers and other things that do not have contact with food and which small children do not have access to.

Stains from rubber are remarkably washed off by alcohol.

It is better to wash off the ink from a baby doll or from a ball with soap or soda gruel. It is also safe and effective to rub the baby doll with a lemon wedge.

Helpful hints

If possible, try to rinse the stain off while it is fresh and stuck into the surface:

  • Do not grab the first remedy that comes to hand – seek advice from familiar relatives, look for information in books and the Internet.
  • Use products suitable for the material.
  • Before use, be sure to test the product on an inconspicuous area of the product.
  • If you are going to use a chemical, use gloves, try not to inhale its vapors, and work with the window open.
  • Be patient, if necessary, repeat the procedure several times until the ink traces disappear completely.

What to do if the gel pen does not write well

What if the pen won’t write? Of course, this stationery is inexpensive and you can always buy a new one. But sometimes with each new acquisition we get another problematic pen – they either do not write at all, or they stop leaving traces on paper after a while.

And many people are worried about whether it is possible to somehow revive them. So, here you can find out what to do if the pen doesn’t write.

Types of faults

What could be wrong with your pen? There are quite a few faults, we will list the most common ones:

  1. The new pen writes intermittently, with strokes, and a creak is heard.
  2. Pen does not write after not using it for a while.
  3. The paste is dry.
  4. A ballpoint pen is missing a ball.
  5. Paste has leaked out of the core.

In order to determine why the pen does not write and what to do, if there is no way to immediately buy a new one, you need to carefully examine it. Most often, the cause of the malfunction is determined quickly enough, after which it is necessary to decide whether it is possible to somehow revive it and bring it into working condition.

What to do if the pen does not write

  1. If a ball falls off a ballpoint pen, it cannot be saved. You won’t be able to insert the ball, but you can get dirty with the paste from head to toe. Accept the loss.
  2. If the paste of a gel or ballpoint pen has leaked out of the refill, then the easiest way is to throw it away, since there is a great chance of staining yourself and the environment during cleaning and subsequent work. But if there is no choice, then disassemble the mechanism on sheets of paper and wipe every part with wet wipes. Then estimate the level of the paste in the rod, blow it out and reassemble the handle.
  3. A new pen often writes poorly due to poor ball rolling. That is why a new nib needs to be painted and in some cases a little more effort than usual.
  4. If the pen does not write after not using it for a couple of months, it usually means that the paste is very thick. And if you do not use it even longer, then the paint inside the rod will completely dry out. To solve this problem, experts advise using one of two methods. The first is to warm up the metal tip with a lighter to soften the ink. It is not recommended to use it due to the fact that open fire is unsafe.Plus, you will most likely just melt the plastic rod. The second way is to hold the rod under hot water. This technique is safer. If it is not possible to use hot water, then you can simply rub the rod in your palms.

But sometimes malfunctions occur not with a cheap ballpoint or gel pen, but with a more expensive and prestigious fountain pen.

Fountain pen

What if the fountain pen won’t write? Usually, inexpensive copies suffer from this problem, while exclusive hand-built models are less prone to such malfunctions. But occasionally they also have problems.

If a new pen writes intermittently and with a slight creak, this is a run-in problem, absolutely the same as with a ballpoint equivalent. The pen needs to be painted, and it takes time and patience.

But what if the problem persists over time? Most likely, the matter is in the factory grease, which clogged the feeder channels. Occasionally, tiny metal shavings can also get there. In case of this problem, it is recommended to rinse the pen:

  1. Disassemble the mechanism.
  2. Rinse under running water to remove ink. Use only cold water, as hot water can deform some parts.
  3. Soak the feather for 1-2 hours in clean water.
  4. Dry the handle. The procedure will take 12 to 24 hours.
  5. Assemble the mechanism.

Also wash the fountain pen if it has not been used for a long time and there is a risk that the ink has dried. If the pen malfunction cannot be cleared by flushing, contact service.

Correction pen

Proofreader pen is an indispensable attribute of any pupil or student. She is in any office and often helps out when you need to quickly and quietly fix a mistake. But what if the proofreading pen doesn’t write?

In fact, they dry out rather quickly, and also often start to leak, which complicates the work.

If a new correction pen is not writing, shake it well for a few minutes. Then remove the leaked marks on the tip.And you can get to work.

If that doesn’t work, try pressing harder while correcting errors – this will make more corrective agent stand out. In cases where the corrector is water-based, if it dries, you can soak the tip and the pen will work again.

I rarely use the pen. There is a smartphone for notes, reminders. Sometimes you have to sign contracts, postcards, make some notes. But not so often. Sometimes I don’t use it for a month or two. I like gel pens because they write beautifully, richly. But there is a problem – they quickly stop writing. It is especially offensive when a completely new pen, I used it twice. Why is this happening? What to look for when buying, so as not to fall into such situations again?

Thank you for your questions, Roman. Let’s sort them out in order.

Why did the almost new gel pen stop writing?

As the name suggests, the core of the gel pen fills a viscous substance. It is this thick consistency that we should be grateful for for a beautiful rich and glossy trace on paper. This property is especially appreciated by artists who create amazing illustrations using gel pens.

For the same reason, the writing substance in the rod ends quickly. Faster than any other type of pen. Therefore, it is extremely irrational to use them for abstracts. Also, the gel can dry out if the handle is near the heater. Or when it is stored without a cap.

But most modern manufacturers add special substances to the gel that retain the viscosity of the substance longer. On average, the shelf life of a gel rod is from 2 to 3 years.

Sometimes, with rare use, the gel dries up on the ball. And – yes, in such cases, the pen also stops writing. In such cases, you need to paint the pen well. If that doesn’t work, wipe the ball with nail polish remover.

Most importantly, never place your gel pen with the writing side up.During the time that you will not use, the contents of the rod will slide down. The pen will stop writing. It can only be thrown away.

These tips will extend the life of any pen that has a ballpoint pen – gel, roller, ballpoint.

What to look for when buying a pen for rare use?

Let’s take a look at the pen options that meet the requirements – they write beautifully and don’t dry out for a long time.

Immediately sweep aside liners and capillaries.Undoubtedly, they write beautifully, gracefully and even suitable for calligraphy. But there is a significant drawback – they dry quickly. Because in fact they are felt-tip pens, but made using the technology of pens.

Ballpoint pens will last the longest because the paste contains oil and not a water-based substance. The shelf life of such pens is from 2 to 5 years. But not all of them write beautifully. Cheap ones can smear, skip, leave an unevenly saturated mark. From inexpensive models it is worth taking a closer look at the Uni and Pilot brands. They write richly and accurately.

With rollers, you don’t have to worry that the ball will deteriorate or the content of the rod will slide down. Simply because the ball rotates 360 degrees and the writing is water based. The shelf life is generally 2-3 years. But for some manufacturers, for example Pentel, it can reach 5 years. Rollers are written beautifully, pleasant to use.

Gel pens shouldn’t be swept aside either. Plus, no other pen leaves such a beautiful glossy mark.Their shelf life is from 2 to 3 years. If stored properly. In addition, some manufacturers, such as Zebra, add viscosity-increasing pigments to the writing agent. Such rods do not need to be painted and there are no problems with the ball.

And how do you know the expiration date of the pen?

This information cannot be found on a separate handle. It is on the set, box. If this is important, check with the seller.

First-priority actions

If an ink stain is found, wash the item immediately. A fresh stain can be removed with soap or detergent. The main thing is not to use hot water.

If there are no suitable conditions for instant washing, use available tools, including:

  1. Wet alcohol wipe . It is blotted with ink several times without rubbing the stain.
  2. Dry paper towel . It removes excess ink and prevents it from spilling onto clean areas.
  3. Salt. Sprinkle the stain with it for a few minutes, then shake it off with a napkin. This method will help if the handle is leaking heavily.Instead of salt, you can use starch or crushed chalk.
  4. Nail polish remover or alcohol hand sanitizer. A small amount of the product is applied to a napkin and wipe the contaminated area with it.

You need to act quickly. The longer the ink is on the surface, the deeper it will be absorbed into it.

How to remove the paste from the ballpoint?

Ballpoint pens use a heavy, oily ink. They are made by mixing the dye with alcohol and fatty acids. They dry quickly and are highly resistant to water.

Based on this, you need to take into account the rules for removing traces from a ballpoint pen:

  • you need to start removing the stain immediately, remove excess ink with a clean paper napkin, gently blotting the stain with it;
  • rubbing a fresh trail with a wet rag does not make sense, it will only be absorbed more strongly into the fabric;
  • when removing ink, you need to take into account the characteristics of the material from which the product is made;
  • if it was decided to use aggressive compounds, you need to study the instructions for their use;
  • The new agent must be tested in advance on an inconspicuous area, if it does not harm the product, you can continue processing;
  • Do not use too hot water, it should be at room temperature, boiling water helps to seal the ink in the fibers of the fabric;
  • as the cotton pad or sponge becomes dirty, it is changed, if this rule is not followed, the area of the spot will increase;
  • Rub the stain from the edge to the center.

Old traces are removed in several approaches; it will not be possible to cope with an impressive stain at one time.

How to remove ink from gel?

How to fix a slipping ballpoint pen?

How to fix a slipping ballpoint pen? If you are reading this article, then you are worried about the same problem – missing a ballpoint pen.

Although most writing is nowadays done with computers and gadgets, some writing tasks still require a traditional writing tool. You can make a grocery list, a daily diary entry, sign an important document, sign a credit card, etc.

Anyone can say that there is probably nothing more disturbing than a pen that is missing or no longer working. In most cases, pens stop working, not because they run out of ink, but because something is preventing them from doing their job.

In our experience, we constantly notice two things that cause pen gaps. The first is the air inside the ink cartridge, and the second is dried ink that is blocking the passage of ink.

These problems most often occur when pens are not used for a significant period of time. The ink on the tip or rollerball can dry out, which can subsequently block the ink or the rollerball itself, rendering it unable to move freely.

Unfortunately, either of these two problems with your pen will certainly give you a headache, especially if you don’t have a spare.

So how can you fix a slipping ballpoint pen?

The purpose of this article is to help you solve your problem. Here we share with you some tips that will hopefully bring your pen back to life.

What you need are a few things or tools that you usually find in your home. And, of course, some of your time. Yes, it will take a couple of minutes to successfully bring the pen back to life.

The first thing you need to do when your ballpoint pen pops off is to pay attention to the bubbles inside the ink cartridge. Bubbles prevent ink from dripping to the nib. As a result, the ballpoint pen stops working.

In this case, the best thing you can do is remove the pinout from the cartridge tip, then poke or hit the tip of the cartridge on any hard surface to move the ink down.

However, this procedure takes time and special care. Ink may spill from the cartridge if you hit the cartridge hard. Always pay attention to the movement of the ink. Once the bubble disappears, you can reinsert the pen tip into the ink cartridge.

Another reason most ballpoint pens are skipped is when the ink dries right at the tip of the pen. This prevents the ink from flowing smoothly, in which case you need supplies. The following items may be required:

  • Lighter
  • Match
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Cardboard
  • Paper

First 1

Dip the tip of the pen in rubbing alcohol. This process helps dissolve the hardened ink. If the problem is with the tip of the pen, it should work right after you complete this step. If not, then you should probably move on to the second strategy.

Step 2

Slowly heat the tip of the pen with a match or lighter. Sufficient heat should melt dried ink. Repeat this process until the ink flows freely. But be careful, because too much heat can melt the entire pen.

This process may require continuous temperature checks. Touch the tip of the pen with your fingers from time to time. If it’s hotter than you expect, temporarily remove the tip of the pen from the flame. Then repeat the process periodically.

Step 3

After the second step, carefully tap the edge of the table or any hard surface with the pen to remove any obstructions that prevent the roller ball from moving freely. Again, don’t put too much effort into doing this. This can completely ruin your pen.

Step 4

Now try writing on rough paper or cardboard. This will help the jammed ink escape from the roller. At this point, your pen should be working.

Whatever problems you face with a pen, you always need one thing – patience. That’s right, patience. Performing any of the techniques mentioned above will require your peace of mind. If you allow your anger and frustration to manifest, you will not be able to fix your pen.

Well, getting into a situation where your pen stops working during the emergency writing process will certainly raise your blood pressure.

In this situation, you need to maintain peace of mind.Nothing good will happen if you react harshly to it. Concentrate and conduct a simple inspection of the pen.

Check ink. If there is a lot of ink, the problem is either the air inside the cartridge, which prevents the ink from flowing down the tip. Or dried ink blocking the free movement of the roller ball.

Once you have identified the source of the problem, decide which of the strategies discussed above is more appropriate.

However, depending on the damage, the strategies we share with you may not work in extreme cases. When this happens, your best bet is to buy another one.

However, we hope this simple article on how to fix a leaky ballpoint pen can help you solve your problem. For more tips and discussion of ballpoint pens, see additional articles here.

How to fix a slipping gel pen?

One of the most common problems with gel pens is skipping. When this happens, it will be difficult to draw a clear line on the paper. As a result, your letter as well as your attention will be spoiled. So how to fix a slipping gel pen?

There are many ways to make your gel pen work again. But before we move on to recovery strategies, let’s first talk about the reasons for missing gel pens.

A common cause of missing gel pens when writing is the presence of water inside the nib structure, usually when a gel pen is soaked in water.

Gel pens are usually carried in a pocket.Unfortunately, during washing, the user sometimes forgets to pull the pen out of his pocket. As a result, the gel pen remained soaked in water.

Another reason for missing is long time of non-use. Since gel pens are water based, they can dry out, resulting in uneven ink flow. In some cases, gel pens no longer work at all.

These are just some of the reasons the gel pen is missed. There are other circumstances that can ruin your gel pen that are not covered in this post. The good news is that you can repair your gel pen and make it work again.

In this post, we will share with you some quick tricks you can use to fix a leaky gel pen. We hope this helps you.

Tips on how to fix a gel pen that is leaking

1. Dissolve blocking dried ink with hot water.

One of the reasons the gel pen tends to skip work is because the ink has dried and is blocking ink flow down to the nib.The result is an inconsistent mark on paper.

One way to solve this problem is to soak the tip of a gel pen in hot water. Let the tip of the gel pen soak for 20-30 seconds. This should remove the hardened ink.

We have tried this technique several times. If hardened ink is indeed the cause of the skipping, your gel pen should work after that. If not, there must be other reasons.

2. Tap the ink cartridge against the edge of the table

Sometimes the gel pen will skip because of the air gap inside the ink tube.Air inside the cartridge prevents ink from escaping. As a result, the gel pen slips.

If you notice an air gap inside the cartridge, pull the cartridge out of the housing. Grasp the opposite end (not the nib), then tap the cartridge lightly against the edge of the table or something. Make sure the tip is pointing down.

But do not hit the cartridge with force, as the pen may explode and the ink may explode. Do this until you see some progress.Pay attention to the air gap. Stop when the gap disappears.

Attempt to write on note paper. Make sure the ink flows smoothly as it should.

3. Pull tip out of cartridge

If the gel pen slips without air bubbles in the cartridge, the problem causing the skips is not the air gap. It should be at the tip.

The best solution in this case is to unscrew the tip and rinse it with water. Make sure you clear it.Then wipe it off with a clean cloth to remove any water and any remaining dried ink.

After everything was set up, I reconnected the tip and cartridge. Use technique number two to get the ink flowing to the tip. Or shake the cartridge to push the ink down.

Once the ink reaches the tip, it should write on paper. He must be able to write without gaps.

Optional Nibs

Gel pens are known for their fluid writing. This characteristic makes people fall in love with gel pens, including The Ballpoint Pens.

However, gel pens are fragile and fragile and can easily stop working if you do not secure them. If you are using it, our helpful tip is to keep the gel pen upside down, tip down.

Storing the gel pen in this way prevents the ink from drying out, which in turn leads to gaps.

Second, do not drop the gel pens on the ground.Impact can severely affect the performance of the gel pen. This can cause air gaps and blockages that can cause skips.

Finally, do not tap the tip of the gel pen on a hard surface. Doing so may clog the nib with ink. The second step above might be a good choice.

That’s all. You have our tips on how to fix a slipping gel pen. Hope these simple tips help you take care of your gel pens.

Like physical health, prevention is better than cure. However, the precautions in this post can also help prevent common gel pens problems.

How do I fix a gel pen clogged?

Technological advances have changed almost every aspect of our lives. Gone are the days when people did things by hand. Computers and the Internet affect the way we deal with our daily activities.

For example, in terms of communication, computers and the Internet are complementary media that make the world smaller. Now we can call a loved one from the opposite part of the world, we can have a corporate conference or do a quick online research.

These things are just a few of the things we enjoy right now. But there are still things that have retained their classic character. Primarily because they are not easy to replace, no matter how advanced the technology is.

There are many more things to do manually. Writing with pen and paper is a good example of this.It is scientifically proven that long handwriting is more beneficial than typing. It activates the brain, making it more active and sharp. In other words, handwriting is in many ways more beneficial than using a computer.

However, like computers and other gadgets, pens can cause some problems. Some pens, especially gel pens, got clogged making them sometimes useless.

Gel pens, like other pens, rely on the flow of ink to make the desired mark on the paper. But what if the ink doesn’t flow smoothly? Can you finish your important writing assignment?

Absolutely yes. You just need to know a few tips on how to deal with the problems. The key here is understanding how a gel pen works.

In this post, we will share with you some tips on how to deal with the situation when the gel pen is not working. Following these tips will give you the confidence and confidence that you will complete the long handwriting task.

How to fix gel pen clogged?

As mentioned, if you know how a gel pen works, you can easily spot the problem and fix it. As with any type of pen, the ink itself can sometimes become clogged; if the ink hardens directly on the nib tip, it is more likely to cause the blockage.

Here are the steps you can use to prevent a blockage or fix a problem whenever it occurs.

1.When the gel pen stops working, there must be something wrong with the tip. So, the first thing you can do is clean the tip with a cloth or paper. Soft fabric is best. But if you don’t find one, a wooden surface will do. Gently rub the tip of the pen onto the wood surface. But don’t overdo it, it can also damage the nib and the entire ink mechanism.

2. If the first step does not work, it means that the problem is not at the end. Hardened ink inside the nib must have been causing the problem. This problem is not easy to solve by rubbing the tip of the pen.

One of the best things you can do is heat the nib a little. If you have a lighter, you can use it to warm up the pen. This will help the clogged ink to melt and clear the ink channel, but do not overheat. Too much heat can damage the pen itself.

3. If you are in a classroom or office where you do not have access to a fire or any heating appliances, rubbing the tip of the pen against note paper or cardboard is a better option.Apply enough force to the pen so that the pen touches the paper, but does not leave holes in the surface of the paper. The constant friction creates friction between the surface and the nib, which in turn heats the nib. This process will help liquefy the hardened ink.

4. If you do not have a heating device, paper, or other surface to rub the tip of the gel pen over, you can use a shoe sole. The result will be the same.

5. If the previous tips did not work, you may need another remedy. You can try nail polish remover this time. This chemical will help melt clogged ink inside the nib.

Using the dropper, apply enough nail polish remover to melt hardened ink. However, this method can be messy depending on how carefully you use it.

6. If the five techniques don’t work, as a last resort you can rip off the metal tip of the pen and use a needle or guitar string to insert it into the ink mechanism of the pen. This will eventually clear the ink blockage. But make sure you tilt the nib to the opposite side, allowing the ink to drain off the tip you are working with.

After you have removed the hardened ink or anything that is causing the blockage, you can reattach the metal tip and push it back into the ink reservoir. You just need to be extra careful throughout the entire procedure. Ink can easily spill onto your hand or any surface.

How to prevent gel pens from clogging?

There are things that can cause clogging. In most cases, problems with gel pens can be caused by two things. One is the temperature at which you store the pen. And the second is the way it is stored.

Before you start having wrinkles on your forehead looking for ways to fix a clogged gel pen, you need to fix it all.

First, make sure you do not leave the pen in a hot place.High room temperature is more likely to thin the ink, causing it to escape from the reservoir.

Second, store the gel pen flat. This will prevent the ink from concentrating on one side, which is likely to result in clogging.

We hope these gel pen clogging tips can help you solve your problem. These tips have proven to be effective. These methods have helped us a lot when we faced the same problem. We hope these tips help you too.

How to care for a ballpoint pen

Like any type of pen, ballpoint pens require some care and attention to prolong their life. Storing them correctly is important to ensure that ink can drain smoothly when writing. Cheaper ballpoint pens, or biros, can also take some persistence to get them to work. We’ve put together a care guide so you know how to care for your pen, and we’ve also included some tips on how to get your pen to work again if it’s seemingly dry.

How to store Biros

One of the most common problems ballpoint pens face when drying out is exposure to air. When air gets inside the cartridge, the ink dries up, and for ball-point ink, which is already thick enough, this usually completely clogs the cartridge. To prevent air from entering the cartridge, be sure to retract the nib or close the end when storing the pen. You can also store them in a case to help you avoid losing or damaging your pen.Luxury pens with a metal body are especially worth keeping in a bag or case to avoid scratching.

For pen position, gel ballpoint pens should be installed vertically. This will prevent them from leaking. Traditional ballpoint pens that use oil-based inks should be stored upright to allow the finer ink to travel downward, ready for writing. This should make the ink flow smoother when it comes to writing.

Can ballpoint pens dry / Why ballpoint pens stop working

Ballpoint pens and rollerballs keep air out of the ink cartridge. The ball in the nib is designed to keep air out. However, air can still get inside the handle, especially if the handle is not closed. More often, however, people assume ballpoint pens are dry because they stop writing. The best explanation would be that the thick ink inside the cartridge cannot flow as freely as necessary. In addition, ballpoint pens may stop working because the ink remaining in the ball when not in use is exposed to air and clogs as a result. However, both problems can be fixed fairly easily, so you can get the pen working again.

How to fix ballpoint pens

Many people ask us how to make ballpoint pens work and how to get them to write. The flow of ink in ballpoint pens can be inconsistent, so if people might think they are dry or out of ink, this is not necessarily the case.Ballpoint pens release ink by gravity, they don’t write upside down, so you may have to hold them face down to get the ink moving. Likewise, if your new pen doesn’t work, try shaking the pen. Air bubbles can get trapped inside the cartridge, but shaking them will push the ink towards the nib, ready to write.

If your ballpoint pen no longer writes, the solution is not necessary – change the ink. There are a few things you can try to restart your dry pen first.First, try sketching something on a piece of paper. This can cause the ink to move, and sometimes a scribble is all the pen needs. Similarly, try applying extra pressure while writing and see if that helps restart the pen. It is also a good idea to press the pen firmly into the paper and draw a clear vertical line; this can also help the movement of the ink. Remember that ballpoint pens use thicker ink, so you may need some persistence when trying to bleed ink. However, these problems arise mainly with cheaper biros.

Other pen restart methods may include:

  • An easier method. This requires care and attention, but if you hold the lighter near the nib tip, any ink clogging the ballpoint pen may melt. Boiling water should work too. Be careful when opening the handle and make sure you are only showing the end of the metal tip to the flame or water; if you go too far, you will damage the handle.
  • Blow into the open ink cartridge. If the ink does not have a cap at the end, blow on the opposite end of the nib.
  • Draw dots on a piece of paper. When you notice ink escaping, draw a swirl pattern until the pen starts to write smoothly to make sure the ink is working properly
  • Tap with the pen on the surface under which the sheet of paper lies. As with shaking, this should improve ink movement, although make sure you have some paper in case the cartridge starts to leak.
  • Write on a rubber or rubber surface such as the sole of a shoe. This will help clear the ball in the tip.
  • Similarly, or rubbing with the tip of a ballpoint pen on rubber. Rub it against an emery board or piece of cloth. Both items can also help clean the tip.

If none of the above solutions worked, or if you have used the pen frequently, it might be time to replace the cartridge.

Why are ballpoint pens leaking?

Ballpoint pens often leak when the temperature rises. When people carry them in a shirt pocket, the temperature of the human body increases the heat of the ink cartridge, causing the ink to flow. If the handle is not covered or positioned vertically, it may leak. Fabric and paper are also materials that tend to bleed ink, so they can also cause the pen to leak.

How to Clean Ballpoint Pens

You have read some of the tips above for removing the ball at the tip of the pen. If there is dried ink on the nib, you can release it using heat or by tracing on a piece of paper.

If your cartridge is leaking inside the barrel, you must soak the handle after removing the cartridge in a cup of water. This should gradually remove any remaining ink, but you can also try holding the cylinder under a tap for a more intense rinse. If ink still won’t run, try inserting a damp cotton swab into the pen to remove it by hand. It is best to avoid household cleaners and detergents to avoid damaging the metal.

Removing Ballpoint Pen Ink

Ballpoint Ink is generally more difficult to remove, but if your pen is leaking or you’ve managed to get ink on items around your home, here are some tips on how you can remove the stain.

Leather

If the leather remains stained by a ballpoint pen, proceed with caution. The skin is easy to ruin and unfortunately the decision will depend on the subject. It is best to try the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning solution. If that doesn’t work, we recommend that you selectively test different solutions on a small, inconspicuous area of the skin. Spray hairspray on this area and leave it on for a minute, but don’t let it dry. Then wipe with a damp cloth and try your regular cleaning solution.Alternatively, you can try rubbing the affected area with rubbing alcohol. However, always test the solution first and remember to be careful as different fabrics will react differently.

Cloth

If you have ink on clothes or furniture, the best way to remove stains is to rub the stain with alcohol or nail polish remover. Blot the stain with a clean cloth until it disappears, then apply regular detergent to the area. Wash the fabric in hot water after 5 minutes. If the fabric is as delicate as silk or wool, you can seek advice from a cleaning professional.

Leather

If ink from a ballpoint pen remains on the leather, remove it with regular laundry soap. However, this may require pressure and a scrubber. The key to removing ink is persistence, but it will fade over time.

If regular soap doesn’t work with the ink from a ballpoint pen, you can try rubbing it lightly with a toothbrush. This will help erase the stains on your body pretty quickly. If a child gets dirty with ink, then this method cannot be used – hard bristles can injure the baby’s delicate skin.In this situation, a regular baby cream will help. The product must be applied to the mark from the pen and left for a few minutes. After that, the paste can be easily wiped off with a paper towel or cotton pad.

Perfectly removes ink stains and glycerin. It is also applied to the stained area and left for a while, then washed off and wiped off the skin with a napkin. Glycerin will help get rid of not only marks on your own skin, but also stains on leather furniture, bags or clothes. However, you need to be careful with dark products – glycerin can leave white spots, so this method is suitable mainly for light materials.

If the paste turns out to be very corrosive, a mixture of baking soda and lemon juice will help. Citric acid itself has strong whitening properties. First, a little soda is applied to the stain, then a few drops of lemon juice are dripped. After such a “mask”, you need to apply a nourishing cream to the skin, as soda in combination with lemon juice dries it out.

It does not pose a serious danger, but it can cause discomfort. It is easy to recognize a callus from a pen. It occurs at the site of the greatest pressure from writing instruments – the lower part of the middle finger, closer to the first phalanx. The skin coarsens, the color changes, a build-up appears. Often during holidays or vacations, when the workload is significantly reduced, the callus becomes less.

You cannot cut off the corn yourself with scissors or a blade. At other times, you should try to minimize the contact of the pen with the middle finger.

To reduce mechanical stress, you can use the following methods: To soften calluses, soap and soda baths are used. A liter of water is heated to a comfortable, but not hot temperature, grated baby soap or liquid soap, a tablespoon of soda are added. If the corn hurts, add sea salt to the water. Stir everything well and put your hands in the resulting solution for 15 minutes.

Then the skin is wiped thoroughly and the horny debris is gently scraped off with a small piece of pumice. After that, a nourishing hand cream containing chamomile and calendula extract is applied. Daily treatments are sufficient to improve skin condition and remove small calluses from the pen.

In the future, such baths are recommended to be done twice a week for prophylaxis. With old calluses on the middle finger, baths alone are not enough. Then medical supplies come to the rescue.

Use preparations containing salicylic, lactic, benzoic acid, urea. Keratolytic substances soften rough skin. It’s just that everyone has calluses on their feet, and only people of certain professions have problems with their hands.

Means with salicylic acid cannot be used for open skin defects, wounds, cracks. After improving the condition of the skin, you can use any recipe you like for prevention twice a week.Calluses occur more often with a lack of vitamins A and E in the body, therefore, to improve the condition of the skin, it is recommended to take multivitamin complexes.

You can get rid of calluses in different ways. They are all available at home. Compliance with simple rules contributes to the speedy healing of the callus and prevents its re-formation.

If a person continues to write, ignoring the unpleasant sensations, the place of wear will soon coarsen and turn into a full-fledged corn. It is important! The reasons why a callus appears on the middle finger can be eliminated quickly enough. The second recommendation will be much more difficult to fulfill, since each person writes according to a long-term habit. However, it is worth trying, especially during the period when the callus is being removed with a rubbed pen.

Corn, formed at the site of rubbing the skin with a pen, looks unpleasant, and besides, it can cause a curvature of the finger.

You can deal with the problem both with the help of folk remedies and using medications. Photo 2. Without eliminating the cause, the callus on the finger will reappear. Source: Flickr Ingrid Douglas Photography. The first two types of medicines perform one function: thanks to salicylic, less often – lactic acid, they basically soften the structure of the corn before removal. After their application, the skin on the finger will become soft, so the pathological growth can be easily cleaned off with a pumice stone.

Having figured out how to remove a callus on a finger from a pen, it is worth thinking about how to prevent its reappearance.

How to quickly remove callus from the handle on the middle finger

I would like to ask you how to get rid of a corn or a lump, I don’t know what it is on the middle finger of the right hand from the pen? Very ugly finger.I read about it, many write that it goes away when you don’t use a pen, but in the summer it still remains. Help me please! It really goes away. Not over the summer. I only went through half a year after graduating from university. Probably depends on the size of the chafing. During my vacation, it disappears almost completely, it can be seen if it is specially examined and compared with neighboring fingers.

And last year I changed my job, did not work for 2 months, so it completely disappeared altogether. In short, this is a labor “corn”, it passes:.It seems that I have a little lump forever, although I process it on manicure, but I have it already from school, then it is clear college-university, although I have been working on a computer for a long time.

It does not pass, it will simply decrease. Why bother so much? Almost everyone has it. It will pass only after some time after you stop constantly writing. I am 29, now there is no callus on this finger for several years now. And when I studied at school and university, I was constantly. Now I’m not doing scribbling, except to write down on the little things, and everything is on the computer, so my fingers do not suffer.

But it seems that after graduating from the university she held on for about a year, or maybe 2 years, although at work she was no longer such a “scribe”. This is an inflammation of the joint, like the bone on the leg grows. It will never go away completely, it may decrease slightly when you stop writing a lot.

By the way, I watched the program on TV, there the doctors sound the alarm: schoolchildren come in with inflammation of the joint of the thumb, and all because they are stuffing SMS into their phones. The Corn did not go away to me Although I massaged and periodically completely numb meat with a manicure nipper I cut off.

I am 9 years old and 4th grade and I have a callus from the pen on the side of my middle finger, what should I do? I also have an unrealistically large corn from the letter, and so someone advised me to plant a bee on the corn. The method is called Apitherapy, my dad is a beekeeper, so I took advantage of it. They say that mazol on the middle finger is a sign of an excellent student. Many have it, personally I just do not pay attention. The same problem, but only at the beginning of this academic year I got the 9th grade, I study mainly at 5.

Features of writing with a fountain pen

Recently, the shelves of art stores – IArt-Kvartal are no exception – replenished with the tender dreams of lovers of calligraphy and cursive writing: Lamy fountain pens in pastel colors. The growing excitement and curiosity about the new colors of writing instruments is not clear to everyone – especially to those who are used to using ballpoint or capillary pens. What is the essence and meaning of this adaptation? We personally took up this investigation. – No pressure When writing with a ballpoint pen to draw clear lines or when you need to write quickly and a lot (every student now involuntarily sighed), you must firmly hold the pen shaft. Due to constant tension, joints and fingers quickly get tired, they begin to hurt and you have to take breaks. It turned out that this does not happen when you write with a fountain pen. A lightweight holder, a thin nib that begins to draw letters with a light touch – from personal experience, you can write for about an hour and not get tired. – We continue to health Due to the fact that the hand gets tired of writing and writing letters “for a long time”, many have switched to another alternative – a long typed letter. Convenient, economical, tunnel syndrome. A common case among office workers, programmers and other people who prefer a keyboard and mouse to a sheet and a pen.Cases have been proven when writing with a fountain pen restored the work of the brushes, kneaded the joints – it was necessary to write approximately on a sheet of A4 every day. – Emphasize your style Let’s go back to the colors and talk about practicality. The year of writing is a dozen ballpoint pens that are constantly lost or just disappear. For a year of writing, a fountain pen needs … just one pen and one or two cartridges. The fountain pen will definitely not get lost – it will be noticeable, and the variety of colors will help you choose a match for yourself and make an accessory for your own image. You cannot bite through it with your teeth (not worth trying for those who like to gnaw pencils and pens) and such an object can last for several years. Some people even put together a collection of fountain pens for different occasions – for work, for personal writing and for study. In any case, it is always nice to have a thing of your favorite color with you. – A rich inner world In addition to the color of the body, you can choose the color of the ink with which this pen will write, and if you wish, even carry replaceable ones in the set. It became necessary – changed from black to red, tired of the classics – turquoise ink comes to the rescue – Beautiful handwriting Smooth and light movements with a fountain pen that will write all the time, and not stop at some point – there will always be handwriting with it the same.He will align and improve on his own. The pros are obvious. What about the cons? There will be more recommendations here: – If you are closer to a printed letter, if you do not want to choose your own pens or ink – in this case, you should not purchase a fountain pen. For now. – Bad and very thin paper is not suitable for calligraphy – the ink will be blurry and poorly absorbed, which can lead to dirt. Better to use a slightly thicker paper. Art-Kvartal hopes that he has managed to explain the benefits of fountain pens and the ranks of calligraphy and graphics lovers will join the ranks! P.
