Since this template is split in the middle, I like to use the left column for daily commitments and daily tasks and the right column for weekly tasks that are not related to a particular day. I usually have one section for things that I must get done that week and in the middle of the right column I have another section for things I would like to get done that week. The template is very flexible and works well for me.

The following weekly planner template has everything you need to plan your week: weekly goals, top 3 priorities, to-do list, next weeks list (I like to use this section for things I don’t want to forget to do but won’t manage to do this week), healthy habit for the week, water intake tracker and space for appointments each week. How to Make Your Week More Productive

Before you make a list of tasks ask yourself which projects you want to prioritize this week. Include the tasks you need to do to complete these projects or get them started.

Before you start planning your week, review your previous weekly plan if you have one. Go over each task you didn’t complete and ask yourself why. Is it still relevant? Is it a waste of your time? If you still need to complete that task, then move it over to the current week. If not, devote a few minutes to think about how it made it to your list and what you can do in the future to be more focused. 

Avoid distractions. If you feel you are not as productive as you could be then you must be very careful about what you include in your list. If a task doesn’t help you achieve one of your goals (see goal chart) or if it is not something you have to do then don’t waste your time doing it.

  2. Double click on “enter your text” and replace it with your own text.
  3. Delete the dummy text that you do not want to use. You can also move the text around, so if you need more than one line on one day of the week, then you can move text from a day that you do not want to write anything. If you still require additional text, then click on the A to add more text. Drag the text to the correct location.
  4. Download or print.

How to Create the DIY Weekly Planner Printable

What to include in your weekly planner template?

To-Do List

If you have a lot of tasks to do then you might prefer a stand-alone weekly to-do list. If you want to add a checklist widget to your weekly planner template, then this is the section you will use.

Daily reflection

Some of the planner templates have a section for daily reflection. If you choose a template that doesn’t have one, you can still add it. 

Daily reflection helps you establish what is working for you and what isn’t so that you can draw conclusions and be more effective. If something makes you feel good you can add it to your daily routine in the future. If, on the other hand, during your daily reflection you conclude that something causes you to waste time, feel bad, ect. then you can stay away from that activity if possible. Daily reflection is an opportunity to think about what we do instead of going about our day on auto-pilot. 

Gratitude List

If you don’t have a dedicated gratitude list in your planner, then you can use add a gratitude list to your weekly planner printable.

Even if you do have a dedicated list, you can still add a gratitude section to your planner. Sometimes, life gets hectic and stressful and during those periods we might only use a weekly calendar and not use our gratitude list. When gratitude is integrated into our planner then it increases the chances that we actually use it. When life is hectic and stressful, expressing gratitude can be really helpful. It forces you to start thinking about what you have and what you should appreciate instead of the reason you are stressed.

Hourly schedule

Some of the weekly templates include an hourly schedule. People with scheduled meetings and appointments will probably always want to include a daily schedule in their weekly planner template. It will enable them to schedule their meetings and appointments each day. However, even those who do not have any scheduled meetings will benefit from a time schedule. When you have the whole day to do something with no commitments, you might find that you get less done. I know that when I have a busy schedule, I am more likely to exercise than when I am free all day. Why? Because when I know I will be busy all day, I schedule my exercise beforehand and make sure it happens. I often realize that if I don’t work out first thing in the morning, then I won’t work out that day, so I do it. However, when I don’t schedule a workout then I put it off all day and it usually just doesn’t happen.

Use an hourly schedule template to plan your week ahead of time hour by hour. Schedule all of the things you want to do that day. Meal Plan

When you are trying to eat healthy food, change your lifestyle, or stick to a certain diet then adding a meal plan template will greatly increase your chances of success. Planning each meal ahead of time will ensure that you eat what you intended to eat each day. When you don’t have the food that you wanted to eat available then you might land up eating junk food that is always readily available. You can either print a dedicated meal plan or add a meal plan section to your planner. At the bottom of the page, there is space where you can write notes and personal reminders. The calendar has a Sunday start, with columns allocated for each day of the week.

For those who like hand-drawn and hand-painted planner designs, this one from PB and J Studio is a great option. It features a black-and-white, hexagonal weekly planner template.

In addition to the spaces allocated for the seven days of the week, you’ll also find a section for writing down your thoughts. There is also a water tracker, which is quite useful if you’re making it a habit to increase your water intake.

A Variety of Weekly Planner Printables for Your Planners.

Weekly planner layouts are probably the most popular layouts on the market.  It’s not hard to see why.  They pack in the planning power without taking up a ton of room in a planner, offering versatility and flexibility without being too confining.  That’s exactly why I offer a variety of weekly planner printables here on the blog.  Today I’m sharing some of the more popular weekly planners that I’ve updated to match the 2017 calendars.

A Variety of Weekly Planner Printables

I love weekly planners.  You’ll find one in every single one of my planners.  I use them for everything from planning my week to mapping out routines.  Like a blank monthly calendar, a weekly planner can be used in so many different ways depending on your needs.  That’s why I could resist updating some of the more popular ones so you can use them in your planners for the new year.

Two Pages  Per Week

I’m going to go ahead and kick off the good stuff with the most popular weekly layout – the 2 pages per week planner page.  I totally understand why this one gets so much love, especially in the half-size version.  Having two pages dedicated to planning the week is a blessing when you’re busy or if you’re like me and have large handwriting.
This is just like the ones I shared last year.  It’s been updated so that it’s using the same colours and fonts from the 2017 calendars.  Down the left-hand side of the first page there is a spot to jot down your top three tasks for the week, a weekly focus, and then any notes you want to make.  I find it helpful to have a focus for each week, whether it’s a goal I’m working on or an area of my life that needs more attention.  Having that focus helps me plan accordingly for the week.

Each day column starts with a spot for meal planning.  Followed by a blank lined column.  I opted to keep it super simple so that you can customize it how you need to.  I find the thin washi tape works great for breaking the columns up into sections if I need too.

Single Page Per Week

Next up are two of my older, single page, weekly planners.  These ones were some of the first I ever shared on Scattered Squirrel.  This is also the first time they’ve been updated.  Until I started digging into which printables were being downloaded, I didn’t realize these were as popular as they are.


These are as basic as they get.  I think that’s their appeal.  Simple and easy to use.  No fuss nor muss.  The portrait version offers timed slots for the weekdays and unstructured time for the weekend.

The landscape version offers timed slots for the whole week.  This is planner page that I use most often when I’m tracking my time, or trying to figure out a new schedule.

Neither of them comes in half-size because I think they’d be too squished. Or the timed slots would have to be hourly instead of every 30 minutes in order to make them work on a smaller scale.  It just doesn’t seem feasible to me, but I’m always open to your suggestions.

How to Use a Weekly Review to Boost Your Productivity

A weekly review can be a valuable tool to help boost your productivity. The purpose of the review isn’t to try and fit more into your schedule. It’s about figuring out what is and isn’t working for you.

Do you ever find yourself looking at your planner at the end of the week and wondering where the time went? Or why you weren’t able to get as much done as you wanted to?

I’ve been there, a lot!

A few months ago I started using a weekly review in an attempt to figure out what was going on with how I was spending my time. Today, I’m sharing how to use the review to make managing your time easier and more effective.

What Purpose Does a Weekly Review Have

Do you remember being in school and learning about trial and error?

This is sort of like that. We can’t always predict what will work well for us the first time. The weekly review is an evaluation tool to help determine if what we tried worked or if we need to make some changes and try again.

Being able to evaluate how we’re spending our times allows us to find the problem areas and the areas that are running smoothly. In turn, we can then focus our energy where it’s needed.

When done over time a weekly review can also start showing you patterns. There might be a certain kind of task you always procrastinate doing or you might find that some tasks are always easier for you if you do them at a certain time of the day.

How to Use a Weekly Review to Boost Your Productivity

A review can help you identify areas you’re struggling with and brainstorm ways to overcome those struggles. It can also show you what is working really well for you. To be effective, a review needs to look at both the positive and the negative.

To boost your productivity you want to use your reviews to make sure you’re planning your days in a way that works best for you. This is a two-part process, using what is working and looking at what isn’t.

What To Do With Things That Are Working

Anything that you’re getting done consistently or tasks that you routinely finish each week should be planned the same way each week.

For example, if you find doing housework in the evening right after dinner is easier for you and you consistently get those tasks completed each day, don’t change that. If ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

What To Do With Things That Aren’t Working

If there are things that are not getting done, use the information you collect in your weekly review to figure out how to make it easier on yourself to get those done. There are a number of things you can test and try to find a way to make it work for you.

  • schedule them on a different day
  • try doing them at a different time in the day
  • delegate them to someone else if you can
  • are they items that really need to get done or do you need to evaluate your goals and change things up
  • assign a day each week for tasks you don’t like to do so you can just knock them all out at once
  • look at how you’re doing something, maybe you can change that approach

It may take a few weeks or even a few months to find a way to do these things that works best for you. If you use your weekly reviews to help you analyse what isn’t working, eventually you will find the way that works best for you.

Questions for a Weekly Review

A weekly review can be as simple as asking yourself three questions.

  1. What worked well?
  2. What didn’t work well?
  3. What can I do to improve next week?

These three questions will serve you well and offer a great place to start. Over time you can add in more specific questions to help you better understand how you’re using your time and to help you improve where you need or want too.

My weekly review is a series of eleven questions that I work through at the end of each week. By using more specific questions I’m able to focus in more on different problem area.

I use a separate notebook for logging all my answers so that I can go back and look at them later. You could also use a document on your computer to do the same thing.

How did this week go?

This is where I jot down my overall impressions of the week and how it went. I don’t even look at my planner when answering this question. It’s all about how I feel about the week. Feelings are important to acknowledge because they can affect how we act.

What did I get done?

This is where I crack open my planner and list out every single thing I crossed off my list and note anything that wasn’t on my list or schedule that I tackled as well. To make this easier I sometimes group categories together. Like say I finished all my home care tasks for the week, I’ll note “all home care tasks” rather than listing each thing out. BUT I only do that if I crossed off EVERY task.

Did I accomplish my top priority tasks?

Our top priority tasks are top for a reason but sometimes we put them off. I started asking myself this question when I noticed that non-priority tasks were getting crossed off but my higher priority ones weren’t.

By asking myself this question, I force myself to really look at where I’m spending my time. It also helps signal whether something is becoming too neglected and allows me to be able to identify it and work on fixing it.

What’s left on my to-do list?

This is another list answer for me. I just write down everything that’s still on my list. The helpful part of this question is when you look back at what you answered in previous weeks. It allows you to see patterns in what gets put off which can you identify problem areas that need to be addressed.

If an item appears in this list week after week, I know I need to address why I’m not getting it done. It might be a task I don’t like doing so I need to schedule it first thing in the morning. Or it might be something I just don’t have time for and I need to decide if I should delegate it or leave it off my list.

What worked really well?

It’s time for a mini celebration. I think back over the week and note anything that worked well or went smoothly. Maybe I knocked out all my housework for the week in two days. Or perhaps I got through a work project faster than I thought. Or maybe I just had a bad attitude about tackling the things I don’t like to do.

I note all that stuff here because the wins are just as important as the struggles. They can help us figure out how to make our weaker areas better by studying what is working and thinking about why it’s working.

What didn’t work well and why?

This is where I get into the nitty-gritty of what didn’t work well the past week. I note things that down like, “cleaning bathrooms in the morning” and then I look at why it didn’t work.

To make this part effective you have to be really honest with yourself. How did you feel? What else was happening that day? It helps to remember that no-one else will see this. It’s for your eyes only unless you choose to share.

My answers tend to look something like this:

cleaning bathrooms in the morning – I really don’t want to be spending that much time deep cleaning two rooms first thing in the morning. I tried to clean them both at the same time to save time. Why did I decide to try doing this in the morning when doing them in the afternoon has always worked well for me?

You see, this isn’t just about what didn’t get done, it’s about what isn’t working well for you. There will always be chores and tasks that we don’t like or don’t want to do. Figuring out a way to make them work well in our schedule can help make doing them easier.

What can I do to make that better for next week?

Identify what isn’t working and why we think it didn’t work and then figure out what can be done to make it better next time. Trial and error is the only way we can create systems that work for us. So this is where I brainstorm ideas for how to do better next time.

To use my bathroom example above, I already identified that afternoons are a better time for me to clean the bathrooms. To make it better next week I might note that I should schedule them in between our home school blocks in the afternoon.

I can take it a step further and suggest that I do them during two breaks because doing one at a time feels more manageable to me. I might also write a reminder to myself that afternoons work best for cleaning for me and I need to stick to that.

What did I procrastinate on and why?

Where are my fellow scatter-brains at? This question can be a game-changer for us. If you typically find yourself scattered, despite careful planning, identifying what you procrastinate doing and, more importantly, why you procrastinated it can be a huge help in battling that scattered feeling.

This is where I dissect whatever I put off, whether intentionally or not. Anything I knew I had to do AND had time to do it but chose not to. Again, total honesty with yourself is crucial when answering this question.

When we start looking closely at what we procrastinate on and identify why we think we put it off, we can start beating back the scattered feeling. In this case, the what is just as important as the why.

Note anything you put off doing. Add in the why. Some reasons I typically put things off include:

  • feeling tired
  • being uninterested
  • being too busy
  • thinking it will take longer than it does
  • feeling unappreciated
  • not wanting to do it
  • tired of being the only one who does x. y, and z
  • feeling uninspired
  • being overwhelmed

Identifying the why allows me to figure out a strategy to deal with it. Which leads me to the next question.

What can I do to make it harder to procrastinate on that next week?

This is where I strategize a new way to tackle each thing I procrastinated doing. I use the why to direct where the strategy goes.

If I was feeling tired, overwhelmed, or had too many other things on my to-do list I might choose to make that item a priority or tackle it first thing one morning.

Feeling unappreciated or like I’m the only one who ever tackles the task might mean I need to have a conversation with my family and shuffle the chore assignments a little. Or maybe I need to ask for help.

The answers to this question might or might not help, but they give me a place to start. I might even refer to this section of my review throughout the week when I start to feel like I’m procrastinating on things too much.

What needs to happen next week?

Now that I’ve tackled the tough questions, I like to end with an easy one. I note anything important that needs to happen next week.

I use this to help me set my priorities for the week and make sure that I get them out of my head while they’re still fresh in my mind.

Weekly Review Printables

While I don’t write my weekly reviews in my planner, I do keep a copy of the questions in it. I need to have my planner with me to complete the review so it made sense.

To help make it super easy to get started, I created a printable with the questions already written out.

They are formatted to easily be printed double-sided. This means that each set comes with at least two pages, the weekly review questions and a notes page. I like to keep mine with my weekly planning session printable. That way I can do the review and move right on to planning my week.

Brand New! Full-Size Horizontal Weekly Planner Printables!

There are so many variations of the weekly planner out there.  I think that’s one of the reasons I find myself moving back to a weekly layout – the options seem endless.  Recently I’ve fallen in love with the horizontal layouts.  I already use one in my personal/family planner, but you know me, I’m always on playing around with things.  Today, I’m sharing my newest creations – the full-size horizontal weekly planner printables.

The Full-Size Horizontal Weekly Planner Printables

I honestly can’t tell you what it is about the horizontal layout that I really like.  It might be that there is extra writing room, or maybe it’s just that I’ve used the vertical ones for so long that just the simple act of using something different makes it more fun.  I do know that I’m loving these new printables, though.
One of the first things you’ll probably notice is the three habit trackers across the top of the page.  I don’t know about you, but I love using habit trackers to help keep me – well – on track.  I’ve been using this for my top three daily things and really like having those reminders front and center.

The next thing you might notice is that I started these ones off on Sunday.  It’s a switch from my normal Monday start for the weekly planners, but I figured a new printable was a great time to test it out.  I’m not 100% sold on this yet.  I do my planning Sunday evening, so for me, I’m flipping pages when planning.  If you prefer the Monday start format, let me know.  Maybe I’ll make another version of these for the holidays.

There is one other thing I couldn’t resist, and that was making some in the 2016 colours.  While I love the Sunshine Skies colour scheme for 2017, I still also love the Understated Rainbow scheme from this year.  It’s times like these where I find I’m grateful for needing multiple planners to keep myself on track.  (any excuse reason works right?!?!)

Should the planner be the actor in the use case diagram

Let’s say the scheduler, which is part of the system, is responsible for sending weekly emails to users.Should the “scheduler” be seen as an actor or should it be modeled as a use case?

Casting Guidelines say:
If: This is a real person interacting with your system. If “Yes” is his actor
Other: This is something that you can change in the system. If “No” is his actor

The planner is not human. And you can change how it works. But intuition suggests that it could be an actor. A little help would be very helpful.

Higher Level Leadership Says: If it helps you understand the design, include it in the diagram. If it only creates unnecessary noise, leave it alone.

I often model planners and other external time agents as actors. It makes sense, it is understandable, does not contradict anything within the UML or general OO modeling practice, and it fits well with most implementation strategies.

@CesarGon The risk may be that you are using the use case (diagrams) as a design method rather than a requirements method.As requirements, the technique focuses on the goals of the user in relation to the system and the actors interacting with the system. TIME the actor has no user versus system goals, so I am trying to find an actor who has a goal or interest versus the system. Who cares when the weekly email isn’t sent? I add TIME actor as a minor actor. TIME actor helps the ‘real’ actor to reach the user’s goal.

So, basically i need to get the trigger details associated with a task which is created in task scheduler.

So, basically I want these information which i am going to be set in this trigger window such as its daily or weekly and repeat task duration as well as for a duration of etc.

So, basically my requirement is i have two servers.One is primary and other one is backup. I have scheduled the tasks in primary servers and periodically mirroring (robocopy) these tasks to backup server which works absolutely fine.

But when i change the trigger details or arguments in action tab it does not appear in backup server as i am just checking the task name is already present or not in backup server, if not am creating those tasks.

So is there any way to check the details regarding trigger (Daily or weekly etc, repetition details) or action (script and argument details) so that i can update the tasks accordingly in my seconadary server.
