The Happy Planner 2018 — Pink Glitter Pumpkins

I know, I know, it is 2019! But I wanted to share with you the planner I used in 2018. I am using the same brand of planners for 2019, but I am trying out a different style. I want to use it a few weeks before I tell you all about it so I know how it works for me! So let me share with you my 2018 planner and how it evolved over the year!

So to start with, the brand of planners I use are The Happy Planner. It is made by me and my BIG ideas. I first discovered these planners at Costco back in 2016 or 2017. I want to say it was later into 2016. I bought a box set from Costco. It was an 18 month DATED planner. Since it was a box set, it came with a lot of extras that I actually still have, ha! It came with a lot of stickers, some sticky notes, some washi tape, some pens, and I believe some folders. It could have even came with more, but that is all I can really remember. And I remember all of that because I still use all of those things! {I am making it a point this year to try and use stickers weekly.}

So I used that planner all through the end of 2016 and beginning of 2017. I really liked the style of the planner, and I loved that the sheets were so easy to remove or add. I bought some whole and half sheet paper to help with meal planning and making notes for my planner in general. I used to actually keep Melody’s schedule in my planner so that if ever someone babysat, I would just hand them my planner with the instructions.

So I loved that system so much, I invested in a new planner from the same company in 2018. This time I wanted to find a planner that better fit our schedule. Most planners start on Monday, but we really start our weeks on Saturday. We do all of our grocery shopping on Friday nights, so that is an easy day to start a new week on. Well a Saturday start was impossible to find, but I did find a Sunday start. To make it better, it was undated. I thought this was cool too, so I bought it. I could only find this type of planner from their website though. I am most positive I bought it around Black Friday because I know I had some sort of promo to help offset the cost.

Plan with Me: Halloween Pink And Glam | Erin Condren Vertical LifePlanner 2018

posted on

Hi friends! This post features a GLAM-O-WEEN planner decorations look. Yup, it’s a orange, black, green, with pink and gold accents. Traditional colors with some fun elements. This is what’s so great about planners – you just have fun and play. And who couldn’t use some more play in their lives? This look is colorful while still leaving plenty of writing space. And I filmed a Plan-with-Me video to show you how I put this layout together. Planner supplies are linked at the end of this post.

Oh and if you’re looking for last minute decorations – this is a great option because you can purchase the key materials at your local Paper Source.

Note: This post contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase from one of these links, I may make a small commission at no extra charge to you. I use and love the products and shops linked. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Glam Halloween Planner Decorations

Whenever I start decorating my planner, I start with an inspiration piece. In this case, I used this mini washi tape set and stickers by Paper Source.

After that, I added coordinating washi tape, Etsy stickers, and color pen writing to maintain the color scheme throughout the spread.

I used washi tape and some of the sticker kit I used in this fun fall “Sweater Weather” Plan with Me video & post.

When I want my planner decorations to be extra colorful, I’ll add extra pieces of washi tape in the tops and/or bottoms of the vertical day boxes. Now that I’m using multiple planners, I’ve found that I don’t need quite as much writing space, so this allows for more decorations!

On this layout, I’m using the left column to track Goals, Projects, and a habit of meditation.

Planner Supplies & Shopping

Some of the stickers were sold out when I went to find links for you, so in some cases, I’ve linked similar items below.

TEACHER PLANNER / BINDER in pastel pink and army fatigue theme!

I have created this cute and affordable teacher binder to use in my classroom. If you are like me and like to save ink (or some may not be able to print in color) I have all of the inserts in black and white!:)

You have different choices for the cover and spines of the plan book. You can print what you need and even back to back (I like doing this for my grade sheets, calendars, etc) They are all lined up to be hole punched on the left side of the paper and fit into your binder.

Here’s what’s included:

Not sure how printables work? Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy peasy! Think of printables as DIY stickers! I recommend printing my printables on Avery 8.5″ x 11″ Shipping Labels. You can cut them out with a craft cutter machine (like a Silhouette or Cricut), with a paper trimmer, or with scissors! Don’t have sticker paper? Not a problem! Print it out on regular 8.5″ 11″ printer paper (sometimes called copy paper), and use a gl

90,000 Found a planner for Theatrical descent

The administration of Rostov allowed Elena Yuryevna Naumova to prepare a project for the planning of the territory within 8 months: st.Zakrutkina – st. Nizhegorodskaya – st. Orlovskaya – boundaries of existing land plots – lane. Griboedovsky – st. Stanislavsky – Ave. Theatrical. This is stated in the decree No. 1043 of 10.10.2018. The permit was issued based on the appeal of Ms. Naumova dated 20.08.2018.

The fact that some business is interested in this territory was first announced in April 2018. Then, at a meeting of the City Planning Council, chaired by the head of the city administration Vitaly Kushnarev, issues of the development of the Teatralnyi Uzviz territory and the formation of a multifunctional space in this area were considered.

An investor interested in land development has prepared his proposals for consideration by the City Planning Council. The district development project was presented by a member of the Union of Architects of Russia from Taganrog, Mziya Kvaskhvadze.

According to SPARK-Interfax, Elena Naumova is the chairman of the board of the Petrovsky Mayak residential complex, as well as the former co-owner of Stroykomplekt 2002 LLC (both organizations are located in Taganrog). In 2017, the entrepreneur lost a litigation with the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Taganrog on the recognition of the right of common share ownership of a land plot with a total area of 6,212 sq. m.

As RBC wrote in the spring, Elena Naumova owns land plots in the Teatralnyi Uzviz area and she and her partners continue to buy out land.

– The project proposal for the development of the allocated site should not ruin the Theater descent, not cancel out the plans for the formation of a large architectural ensemble, laid down in the general plan of the city back in Soviet times, – says Alexander Boyarinov, head of the urban planning department of the SFedU Academy of Architecture and Arts.

– If the project is carried out within the framework of the previously submitted proposals of the Taganrog architectural bureau, announced in April at the City Planning Council, then there will be no spatial corridor. They seemed to have squeezed the Teatralny Descent’s throat. It is proposed to build only housing with public service outbuildings there, which reduces the weight of the central urban planning ensemble. The level of the planning project depends on what task, the installation will be given by the city to the designers. If the designer will act within the rigidly set parameters of the entire promising project of Theatrical Descent – this is one thing, but if he starts to “mold” what he wants, then this will already create problems for the city.

The police did not find evidence of the deliberate destruction of property as a result of a major fire on August 21, 2017 at Teatralny Spusk in the historical center of Rostov, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region.

Deputy Head of the City Administration for Economics Dmitry Chernysho at a meeting with entrepreneurs about the plans of the city authorities for the arrangement of the territory affected by the August fire in Rostov . In this zone, private houses will not be restored and multi-storey construction will not be carried out. Earlier, the speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Alexander Ishchenko, said that, possibly, a regional law on assistance to fire victims will be adopted this week.

Chief Architect of the city – Director of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning Yuri Dvornikov noted that the need to amend Master Plan , adopted in 2007 year, caused by a number of circumstances: changes in legislation, preparation for the World Cup football 2018; taking out of town large industries, etc. Moreover, according to the architect, updating of the General Plan is caused by changes in the development of transport frame and engineering systems, the need to clarify boundaries cities.

90,000 About planning honestly. She promised to tell about how I … | by Daria Ryzhkova

She promised to tell about how I plan my work and personal time with the help of Passion Planner. Keeping my promise 🙂

Passion Planner (PP) is a paper time planner.

My PP for 2018 and a new one for the next year 🙂

Works according to the principle:

  • create a roadmap of goals for the year
  • create a roadmap of movement to them for six months, a month and a week
  • fix key dates, plan your activities around them . ..
  • Live and reflect on why it happened (or not) at the end of the period.

Planning goes in two directions: work and personal goals and objectives. It’s simple.

As a digital girl, I tried it from the very beginning:

  • ToDoIst – it was not bad. With the ability to work on iPhone and desktop at the same time. There was an opportunity to transfer the working projects of the team there, but they refused.
  • Trello – yes, cards. But for me, kanban boards without lane for portfolio management are practically a non-working story. There is a lack of structure.
  • OmniFocus is like Linux to me. I know that there are people who say that if you set a goal, sit down, roll a patch on the core and adjust it for yourself, everything will fly like clockwork and work perfectly. But I don’t have enough patience and strength 😂 the feeling that everything should be simpler
  • Asana – at one time we moved to it as a team. And it turned out that she knows how to make an end-to-end list of tasks from all work projects that are in her + personal projects. Boards, integration with GoogleDocs, chat rooms. It seemed that here it is a dream. But …

… in the bottom line, all experiments with electronic diaries ended in failure:

with each of them three days after starting to use them, I found myself at the end of the day at the table, lined with a bunch of stickers with tasks and notes that I needed was to enter in the tracker and calendar, and mark what I have already done.

There was no value in this, no result either.

Here came the first point of self-acceptance.Everything indicated that I was a visual, and tactility was important to me. I started Bullet Journal (BJ).

Before BJ, there was still a crowd of options that have now become a graveyard of started and unfinished diaries. They were constantly missing something.

So that you don’t think I’m exaggerating about the cemetery;)

In BJ, I liked the concept of simplicity and the fact that I, in fact, create my own diary, I can add any goals and tablets. At the end of last year, I started leading it.Everything was cool. Until after the holidays I went to work, packed my bag and healed again at my usual pace. Two weeks later, it became obvious: I simply don’t have time to paint all this beauty for a week. And there is a need for planning.

And then, to my delight, my PP just came. In fact, its functionality is largely identical to BJ. Therefore, I was able to use it as a ready-made template, supplementing it with printed trackers from their website.

At the current time, this is the only diary that lived with me until the end of the year, and a second came to replace it.

I also tried the Agile diary, but the format of presenting the week on one page was critical for me. As a result, from the convenience of UX, I remained on PP.

  1. At the beginning of the year, a map of global areas of work is created. From which two key GameChangers are selected – the directions that will have the maximum impact on you and will give you a result. They can be revised as needed. By default, every six months, but more often.
  2. On each of them it is proposed to focus and build another map of the steps that must be taken in order for this to happen. And give them some delays.
  3. These deadlines are posted throughout the calendar in the month and week calendars. In order to automatically remember them by the time of planning a month and a week.

Planning the month

After defining the key goals and the milestones for achieving them, you can proceed to planning the first month.

Each month has:

  1. Two focuses: work and personal
  2. Two focus projects in each area.It is proposed to break them into small steps with expected deadlines and also fix them in the calendar and in a specific day of the week in the view of the week.
  3. Places and cities to visit 🙂
  4. Calendar planner in which I mark regular events, meetings, deadlines for work projects, holidays and birthdays, trips (I highlight them in color to avoid overlapping work appointments).
  5. Plus there is room for any other information. I use it as a place to rebuild the GameChanger. They often changed last year due to the large number of lynch pivots 🙂

Planning the week

When the month is over, you can proceed to planning the week.

A weekly presentation on one spread – it is one of the most convenient things. Within the framework of the week it is proposed:

  1. To fix events and regular meetings every day, those that I already know.
  2. Define the focus of the week. I also try to do it for personal and work. But, to be honest, it doesn’t always work out.
  3. Personal and Work To-Do-List. 12 significant tasks for each of the areas.
  4. I usually print the habit tracker template to the free space. It turned out to be easier for me to work with them in this format, rather than fixing the time in the calendar.

Next, you can define the focus of the first day. And decide what to do on the first day.

An important part of the day is the review, at the end. We must not forget to remember what was good at the end of the week. This block fills the whole week with meaning. And here I usually plan the next day.

Summary and improvement

Area for the month retrospective
  1. At the end of the week, a short retrospective and summary.
  2. At the end of the month, the general retrospective of the month. You need to go back to the beginning and understand how the expectations at the beginning of the month coincided with its results, and think and collect steps to change the process.

Sounds like a description of any of the textbooks on personal effectiveness 🙂 The only difference is that for the first time these things started to work in my life.In the end, what my day looks like now.

Morning. House.

Now my day (when I am not carried away, but it happens) looks like this:

  • rise at about 6 in the morning.
  • morning rituals. The complete set of those who will not hammer me into these things includes
  • stretching and plank
  • meditation minutes 10
  • shower
  • read 10 minutes
  • diary (at least 3 pages).
  • smoothie in a bowl 🙂 and…
  • … to skim through today, define focus tasks for the day (I fix them right in the block of the day) and small tasks (either here or at the end of PP on free sheets).
Habit tracker, which can be downloaded from the PP website

What turned out to be important here:

  • Regularity. Surprisingly, by adding positive rituals in the morning, it becomes easy to get up and the day begins positively.
  • Find the things that turn the morning into something enjoyable .
  • Better to get up earlier , if you woke up before the alarm clock, than to fall asleep and sleep.
  • Do not include at this time messengers and mail .Morning time is exceptional for me.
  • Do not set more than 2-3 tasks per day in total for personal and work areas . For a long time I tried to play with backlogs and lists, but in the end I realized what I can really do – define 2-3 focus tasks that I am guaranteed to do during the day. If necessary, I make a list of smaller, routine tasks for the day (write to someone, buy something). Either in the column of the day, or on the page at the end of PP in the form of a checklist. If I am a good fellow and have enough time for more, there is always a TO-DO, from which you can draw the next task.

All this creates a sense of time and that the day begins with me, and not with the systems that control me. Well, what can we hide, the feeling that I manage at least something in my life 🙂 Honestly, I am wildly knocked out by the days when, for some reason, I wake up and deprive myself of this hour for myself. Although this still happens.

Morning. Work

When the working day begins, I try to devote the first hours (depending on the day: from 2 to 4 hours):

  • Routine. Because this is what crushes and oppresses during the day. Gives a quick result and you can cross out tasks in the checklist. And I love it 🙂 The analysis of the team’s trackers is included here. All product tasks live in management systems (JIRA, mail, kaiten) and I can’t transfer them to PP. I’m just fixing the time to sort these things out.
  • Tasks that require my attention (task design, some calculations, strategies, etc.).

What turned out to be important here:

  • Do not get distracted. At this time, I try to go somewhere alone, so that nothing distracts.
  • Disable all messengers. At this time, I am available for calls only. Practice shows that all urgent matters in fact can wait 2 hours. If not, people will definitely find you.
  • I break a large and complex problem into small ones. And the very first one is the simplest and fastest step, so as not to hang up and try to be unable to do it.
  • I break the work into 20-minute tomatoes with a 10-minute break.
  • Has accustomed myself to any distraction from the side not to run to solve the problem that has arisen , but to ask the question: “Can this wait 1.5-2 hours?” It was a revelation, but in fact it turned out that only 10% of all urgent incoming cases require immediate intervention, and my focus is not lost.
  • I try to take small steps on complex tasks in the morning , so as not to delay until the evening the feeling that you still need to redo a lot of work.It doesn’t always work out, but I try very hard 🙂
The water tracker also turned out to be useful for me. But the workout tracker did not take root for me.

The day mainly consists of meetings and resolving questions. The Calendar plays an important role in it. I use the Google Calendar application, and in fact it becomes the second planning tool:

  • All tasks that arrive I first put there, tying to a specific date, so that I can return to them for the review of the day and plan some specific actions.
  • I try not to schedule more than 3 meetings a day. This makes it possible to leave time for yourself. And I should always have options for unplanned questions and meetings that require my attention.
  • If “urgent tasks” arrive, which I did not plan to deal with today, I try to understand: 1) Is this task waiting for tomorrow? 2) Can someone other than me do this?
  • If I constantly do the same incoming tasks, a reason to think – what can I do to automate / unload myself from this? Answers to this question can give rise to new challenges and even projects.

In the evening I try to make time for myself. Sit to read a book, watch a movie, go to the hall. I stopped recording this time. I don’t even fix the time for the gym now. I just set myself a goal for the week: 2 strength runs and 5 runs per week. And then I see when I can do it. The main thing is that the goal is achieved in a week. STRAVA and NRC help me to keep track of this.

Why did I switch to this format? Because I haven’t been able to come to the gym all the times for a single week. This is very demotivating: when you see in the diary that in the morning you did not get to the first event according to the plan. Therefore, the goal format helped me not to kill motivation and keep my training routine within the framework of the week.

What turned out to be important here:

  • Do not sacrifice time for yourself for the sake of work. I cannot explain how it works. But as soon as sport goes away, everything breaks down: planning, performance, mood, and motivation. Therefore, if something goes wrong and I go into some kind of tailspin, I rather lower the priority of work projects, focusing more on sports.Energy appears, everything else automatically returns to normal.
  • Add cultural trips . This autumn I started an experiment: I went somewhere every week. And she walked alone. A sort of date with myself. And it gave an incredible charge of emotions, inspiration, thoughts and strength.

Together, this time is my investment in myself.

Of course, evenings do not always turn out exclusively for me, and there are days when I have to work harder. But I try not to do it in practice. I am a morning person, my working capacity begins to decline by 5-6 pm. I can work late. But in 3-4 days I will start to be less effective, get angry, sad. If I continue longer, I can go into depression. And here it will take a lot of rest. Therefore, I try not to try to persuade my body to work on super-efforts, but to adapt to it.

The most important discovery is that this mode allows you to work less in time, but to increase efficiency. The efficiency has increased significantly over a period of time.

  1. Give yourself time to experiment. It took me about 3 months to set up the planning process before I saw the result. Before that, there were the first few overwhelmed weeks and an almost overwhelmed month. It was demotivating and frustrating. It is important to remember in time: you should not get upset, but think about what you can do to make it work.
  2. Personal goals must exist. And their priority is not lower than the workers. At the very start, it turned out that I could not formulate a single personal goal. It turned out to be very useful to see an empty column opposite the working one, completely filled. I began to literally suck goals out of my finger. It turned out that already at the “just write down” level, the brain begins internal prioritization and does not even allow to unload the affairs of itself on paper. First I forced to unload. The next step was to realize that I am not doing these things. I do the workers, and I postpone mine for the next week. The next iteration corrected this by fixing the time to myself and taking some of the things into a habit tracker (like meditation, or a bath or massage).
  3. Ensure that focus continuity is maintained. It is normal that the focus may change for half a year in the process. It’s not okay if the focus has changed, but your plan remains the same and has not changed. It is important to rebuild the route in time and set new metrics to achieve success. For the right balance of motivation and demotivation. It took me about 3 months to calibrate.
  4. Scheduling – is not a magical way to get more work done in-house. This is the awareness of the fact that my resource is finite. And it is important to use it effectively. Therefore, I deliberately refuse some of the projects, or find a way for them to exist anyway, but without my participation.
  5. Stop scolding yourself for completed tasks . I still often do not succeed, but I try to remember this.If something doesn’t work out in training, I rarely scold myself. Because I understand that training is a process that allows you to get better and win competitions. One overwhelmed week does not mean that you will not run your distance. But this is a reason to think that I am doing something wrong, and for sure I can avoid this in the future. It is also here – it is important to return at the end of the day / week / month to the goals and remember why and why I am doing this, and what I can do more effectively. And like any good retrospective, it should end not with tears and whining, but with concrete steps and actions.
  6. I stopped keeping project backlogs for several years in advance and writing down everything . One of the jokes of the Scrum Masters about prioritizing the backlog: open a window, wait for the wind to take away all the stickers from the board, restore the stickers from memory, what is remembered, you really need to do. In practice, it turned out to be so. Endless backlogs of tasks that I will never complete grow faster than I can start them. They need to be maintained, periodically reviewed, and combed. But in fact: I still continue to do only what is really needed here and now. I either remember what I need, or people and the product constantly let me remember about it, and this becomes tasks for a month / week. But on what is not needed – I no longer waste time. To be honest, I’m still waiting for something to bomb that will question this approach. But during the year there was only 1 case when I really could not synchronize tasks. And it happened because I forgot to write it down in the calendar and schedule it according to my own algorithm, remembering that there will also be a change in time zones. It was one of the days when the calendar and appointments still got the better of me against the backdrop of flights.
  7. To fix your attention on the good things that have happened.
