6 Tips to Remember When Trimming Natural Hair

1BlessedNatural: 6 Natural Hair Topic: Tips to Remember When Trimming Natural Hair

Hey, my blessed naturals,
I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day weekend! Today, my sister C had a little natural hair accident–I think. Although she usually wears protective styles, her ends were still a bit raggedy and needed to be trimmed. She decided to use kitchen shears to trim them off, and Thank God, I caught her! She was pulling down on a section of hair in the front of her head, ready to cut. I gave her my hair shears to use. She ended up unnecessarily cutting 2 inches or more in front of her head and was ready to do her whole head the same way. Let’s just say that now she has a bang, LOL. Here are some tips to remember when trimming your natural hair:

1. Use sharp hair shears or scissors. Regular scissors or the ones in your kitchen are not sharp enough to use on your natural hair. They can leave your ends jagged and cause them to split even more.

2. Trim your hair while in twists. I’ve tried almost every method of trimming my natural hair. The one method that worked the least was to trim my hair while it was loose and curled, because I ended up trimming too much. The best method of trimming that works for me is to trim my hair while it is in twists. This way, I am able to see exactly where the damage starts and trim above it. Because my sister’s hair is longer and much more even than mine, I was able to put her hair in about 6 or 7 medium sized twists before trimming.

1BlessedNatural: I was applying a moisturizer, water, and coconut oil before twisting my sister’s hair to trim it.

3. Moisturize or wet your hair. This will help you be able to see the damaged ends better. They are usually dry and raggedy even after applying a moisturizer. Applying a moisturizer, will also stretch your strands out for a more even cut on that particular section. I apply Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion and coconut oil on my hair before installing my mini twists for a trim.

Because my sister has high porosity hair, it dries out very fast. As a result, I used both water and a Cantu Creamy Hair Lotion on her hair before trimming it.

4. Examine your ends. Do not cut aimlessly! My sister figured if she cut 2 inches of her natural hair, she would be sure to get all the damaged ends. The problem with that theory is that she didn’t need to cut as much as she did. I ended up trimming a 1/2 inch or less from each of her twists. Be sure to thoroughly examine your ends before cutting. If you cannot see them up close, try using a magnifying glass on them to identify the damaged sections. You can also use your thumb and index finger and rub them from the middle of your twists to the ends to see where they feel rough and damaged.

5. Check for health. You will know you’ve removed the damaged ends, because the ends of your hair will feel smooth and silky. If your hair is wet, your ends will curl up after removing the damaged strands

1BlessedNatural: If I was to trim my sister’s hair in this state, I would probably cut too much.

6. Trim as needed. When I first went natural, I searched for articles that would tell me exactly when I needed to trim my hair. There’s really no way for anyone to give me that information. It depends on how much your hair has been manipulated. It also depends on how much it has been exposed to the elements. One indication that I need to trim my ends is when my ends get tangled a lot. Another sign is when they do not curl up after twisting my hair.

Trimming frizzy locs

Aug 05, 2020 · These are some of the main causes of frizzy hair. Below are the 5 steps to achieving frizz-free natural hair. Get a Trim One of the quickest ways to have frizzy natural hair is to leave your split ends on for too long. Basically, split ends are the beginning of frizzy hair, so you need to nip them (no pun intended) before they become a problem.

I just combed out my dreadlocks 2 days ago and did a small trim, this is the first time I’ve had hair long enough to actually curl. I need some advice on how to keep my hair moisturized throughout the day and control the frizz, any advice is appreciated.

Trimming your own hair is something that I have done, and something that has probably crossed your mind a few times. If you are not confident, and fear making a mistake, then you should not trim your own natural hair. You should definitely consult with a stylist to get a trim. No one wants split ends that make your hair look dry and damaged.

Keratin Treatmet designed to reduce frizz and add shine to the hair. an amazing alternative to the relaxer Color Service – $150.00 Demi or Permanent color transformation on natural hair or extensions..Exact method and cost will be determined after thorough consult

Once you learn to embrace your natural hair, you’ll realize how growing natural hair is much easier without the harsh chemicals that are found in the relaxer.

Dreads, also called dreadlocks or simply locs, are rope-like hair strands formed by braiding or matting hair. Developing them requires technique and they take a long time to grow. Once you develop dreads, you are saved from all the hair maintenance processes, including combing, brushing, trimming and cutting. …

Apr 06, 2016 · A moisture treatment or a deep conditioner can make the locks soft and pliable and those can be used more frequently. Following this protocol will help the locs or sisterlocks from breaking off. Red Flag #2 – Lack of Care to the Locs. Is a key reason why your sisterlocks, locs, or dreads may thinning or breaking off. Let’s face it.

Trim the sides of your hairstyle so that it has height rather than width. Because of the shape, trimmed back styles barely look like Jewfro hairstyles at all. #14: All-consuming Afro. This Afro-inspired hairstyle looks a little bit like it is taking over! The hair completely covers the forehead and the hairline is nearly covering the eyes.

Use the Mac Preview application to crop, resize, rotate, and edit images 000

Mac’s Preview doesn’t just contain PDF editing features. It is a great image editor. The preview offers basic tools for cropping, resizing, rotating, annotating, and more.

Just as QuickTime will never replace iMovie, for all its useful media editing features, Preview will never replace Photoshop or even iPhoto. But for quick and easy image editing, Preview is surprisingly useful.

Get a preview image

Getting a preview image is easy.By default, you can simply double-click the image file and it will open in Preview. If you’ve changed the associations of the image files, you can click or right-click the image file, choose Open With, and choose Preview.

You can also open the Preview application in the Applications folder, Launchpad, or press Command + Space to open Spotlight Search and search for a preview. From the preview, you can directly open the image file.Or, using Preview open, you can click File> New From Clipboard to import an image file from your clipboard. You can then edit the image and return it to your clipboard by clicking Edit> Copy.

If you want to take a screenshot and edit it, you can press Command + Shift + 3 to snap a screenshot of the entire screen, Command + Shift + 4 to click a screenshot of the selected area, or Command + Shift + 5 to click the screenshot only the current window. The screenshot will be saved as a .png file on your desktop, and you can open it in Preview to start editing it. (Or, for example, you can hold Ctrl as you take a screenshot – Command + Ctrl + Shift + 3. Your Mac will save the screenshot to your clipboard and you can import it into Preview with the File> New From Clipboard option.)

Image rotation

Image rotation is easy. Just click the rotate button on the toolbar in the upper right corner of the window one or more times. You can also click the Edit menu and choose one of the Rotate or Flip options.

To save your changes, click File> Save. You can also click File> Duplicate to create a duplicate copy and save the edited image as a new file, keeping the original image before making any changes.

To undo all changes, click the Edit menu and select Undo. To revert to the original image file before you start editing it, click the File menu, choose Revert, and choose a version of the original image.

Crop Image

Cropping an image is also easy. The preview uses a rectangular selection by default, so you should just start clicking and dragging. Click the Tools menu and choose Rectangular Selection if it doesn’t work as expected.

Click and drag anywhere in the image to select a rectangular portion of the image. Click Tools> Crop, and the preview crops the selection, clipping everything else in the image. As with any change, click File> Save to save your changes.

Image Resizing

Choose Tools> Adjust Size to open the Resize dialog box, which allows you to resize the image. It supports many units of measurement, including pixels. By default, it will resize the image proportionally while maintaining the original aspect ratio so that the resized image does not look stretched or smooth.

Image resizing tools like this are useful for shrinking images so they don’t take up as much viewable area or disk space. They are not ideal for enlarging the image, as the exploded image will be of lower quality – for this reason, enlarging the image is almost never a good idea.

Annotate Image

Preview includes various image markup tools – the same as those found in PDF files – accessed by clicking the Show Toolbar button in the upper right corner of the window. You can also click the Tools menu, specify Annotate, and choose one of these tools from the menu.

Select a tool and it will replace the default rectangular selection tool. You can then click anywhere in the image to add text, draw a line, select an area, create a shape, or insert an arrow – whichever tool you choose.

Adjust color or gamma

The built-in preview application also has a tool for adjusting the color levels or gamma of an image.Click Tools> Adjust Color to access it. Use the options in the panel that appear to adjust the various color options. The panel includes a general color level graph that you can change, as well as sliders to adjust exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, saturation, temperature, hue, sepia, and sharpness. It’s useful for everything from capturing the color levels of an image to applying that old-fashioned Instagram sepia filter made trendy.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t know what the settings are doing – the image will update in the background as you adjust these sliders, so you can see a live preview of the color settings. You can figure out what the options are doing by playing with them.

Preview is an amazingly powerful application. Rotate the photo by 45, 90, 180 or several degrees online

    Processing JPEG photos online.

The main thing is to specify the picture on your computer or phone, specify the angle of rotation of the picture in degrees, press the OK button, wait a couple of seconds and download the finished result. With the default settings, the picture will be rotated 90 degrees clockwise, with taking into account and correcting the rotation in Exif , if there is such a record. This is necessary so that the orientation of the picture (portrait or landscape) is always the same when viewed in different programs, which may or may not take into account the rotation in the built-in Exif information.

Examples with a vertical photograph of a Kodak battery rotated 5 degrees clockwise, 25 degrees counterclockwise and 90 degrees clockwise:

by default, except for different “rotation angles”.

The original image is not altered in any way. You will be presented with another processed picture.

    2) Settings for image rotation

    Rotation angle: (from -360. 00 ° to 360.00 °, 0 ° = “exif-based physical rotation”)

(A positive value allows you to rotate the picture clockwise ⟳, and a negative value counterclockwise ⟲)

    Image rotation type :

Normal or “physical” rotation to any angle (selected by default)

(Suitable for rotating 90, -90, 180, 270 degrees, if not a multiple of 90 °, a solid background will appear)

With automatic cropping of a plain background, keeping proportions

(Recommended for turning several degrees, for example: 3, 5 or 15 degrees)

With automatic cropping of a monochrome background, keeping the aspect ratio and image size

(The size of the result in pixels will be the same as the original image, also suitable for rotation around 15 degrees)

Rotation about the center, keeping the proportions and dimensions of the image

(The size of the canvas does not change, the protruding corners of the picture will be cropped, there will be a solid-colored background from empty space)

Rotate jpg-picture “to EXIF” without loss of quality on:
    erase EXIF rotation 0 ° 90 ° clockwise 90 ° counterclockwise 180 °, flip upside down (JPG only)

(The “rotation angle” specified at the very beginning is ignored, re-compression of jpeg is not applied)

Rotate jpg-picture “physically” without loss of quality on:
    90 ° clockwise 90 ° counterclockwise 180 ° flip upside down (JPG only)

(Physical rotation of a jpeg image without re-compression, the “rotation angle” specified at the very beginning is ignored)

    Solid background color:
redpinkpurpleblueturquoise heavenly salad green green yellow orange black gray white transparent (PNG-24 only)
    or color in HEX format:
    open palette

(This parameter is used for “normal rotation”, not a multiple of 90 °, as well as for “rotation about the center”)

Take into account image rotation in EXIF + correction of this record:
    not applied
(Allows you to get rid of the confusion associated with the rotation of the image in exif and with its physical rotation)

    3) Output image format

    JPEG
standard progressive with quality (from 1 to 100)

PNG-24 (no compression, no loss of quality, with transparency support)

Copy EXIF and other metadata? Yes No

How to crop, rotate, scale and flip images in WordPress?

👍 We will teach you how to create WordPress sites for free in 11 lessons. More →

Quite often, when adding photos to a site, users do not know that standard WordPress tools provide good editing capabilities, including: image rotation and cropping, scaling, reflection.

Let’s take a closer look at each of the possibilities. To do this, first of all, let’s upload some photo to the site by going to the admin panel Media -> Add new .

Next, by pressing the button Select files , you must point to the picture file and press the button Open . After the image is uploaded to the site, it will become available for editing.

First you need to press the button Edit , after which you will find yourself on the page of the uploaded image.

To start the editing process, you need to press the button Edit , which is located under the photo. As a result, an editor will open in front of you.

Let’s consider in detail each of the possibilities provided by the editor.

So, above our photo you can see the toolbar, which consists of several buttons responsible for transforming the image.

The first is responsible for cropping the photo. To use this tool, select the desired part of the image with the left mouse button and press the button.

After pressing it, the image will be cropped.

Note that your last actions can always be undone. The last two buttons on the panel are responsible for this (undo and redo the last operation, respectively).

They are followed by buttons that perform the operation of image rotation (counterclockwise and clockwise, respectively).

The following buttons on the toolbar are responsible for mirroring the photo (vertically and horizontally, respectively).

Another rather important function of image editing is scaling it while maintaining proportions. This means that by changing, for example, the height of the photo, the width is automatically adjusted. As a result, there will be no stretched or, conversely, narrowed image. The block Scale is responsible for this.

    Horizon leveling

Author Irina Spodarenko. A link to the article and the author is required.

This easy beginner Photoshop tutorial shows you 2 easy ways to level the horizon in your photo.

The horizon line is not present in every landscape shot, and indoors this concept is generally meaningless. But the term “filled up with the horizon” is used to refer to any skew that is clearly visible in the photograph.

If the camera at the time of shooting was not strictly horizontally, but at some angle, then it seems that vertical objects seem to fall to the side. Objects that simply have to be horizontal are tilted at some angle. For example, the surface of the water in the aquarium is always horizontal, the chain to which the heavy lamp is suspended is always vertical. Such shortcomings in photographs say that a “blockage of the horizon” is noticeable.

Sometimes this distortion is a special artistic device, but more often it is an error that requires correction.

Photoshop provides various options for removing skewed photos, consider the two simplest ways to align the horizon.

Open the image in Photoshop. The photograph clearly shows that the horizon line, where the sea passes into the sky, is sloped.

    1 way.

You can straighten your photo by simply rotating it to the desired angle. To avoid turning at random, use the Guide tool. Hook the upper ruler with the cursor and drag it down (if there are no rulers, turn them on View> Rulers). The ruler will, of course, stay in place, and a horizontal guide of some bright color will follow the cursor.

Pull it to the horizon. It will show you how the horizon should be positioned.

There is only one layer in the open document – the background layer. To rotate it, click on it 2 times in the Layers panel or duplicate this layer and work in this copy.

Press the combination Ctrl + T or go to Edit> Transform> Rotate and rotate the picture so that the horizon is aligned with the guideline.

Small background areas appear around the edges. They need to be cut off. Select the Crop tool (Frame) in the Photoshop toolbar and crop the edges. How to crop the edges of a photo.

    Result:

    2 way.

This method of leveling the horizon is even easier.Select the Crop tool (Frame or Crop) in the Photoshop toolbar and randomly select a part of the image with a frame so that the bottom border of the frame is close to the horizon line.

The mouse pointer in the corners of the selection becomes a curved arrow, which means that the frame can be rotated. Rotate the frame until the bottom of the frame matches the horizon line.

Do not change this angle of rotation any more. Extend the border from the middle of the sides to the edges of the canvas, but not beyond. If you want to keep the aspect ratio of the image, press and hold the Shift key.
