Tokio hotel fashion: German Band Tokio Hotel Launches Fashion Capsule Collection in Berlin – WWD

German Band Tokio Hotel Launches Fashion Capsule Collection in Berlin – WWD

BERLIN German pop band Tokio Hotel is getting its look together. At least that was the prime motivation behind the creation of the first Tokio Hotel capsule collection, which launched at The Store in Berlin’s Soho House this week. It also is available on the group’s web shop.

Designed by Tokio’s front man and most out-there fashion aficionado Bill Kaulitz, the 12-piece streetwear range not only works on the band’s very different style types but looks primed for a broader fan base in terms of look. And price.

Geared for men but not gender-specific, the range retails from 16 euros to 198 euros. It is composed of a black “Dream Machine” bomber jacket that reverses to bright yellow; black or red crew neck sweatshirts plus a black hoodie; black and white logo T-shirts; logo socks in yellow or red; a knit scarf, headband, and cap.

Sound basic? Yes, but not quite. The shapes have a clean finish and are oversized for contemporary flair, and then there’s the wordplay, band specific and otherwise. The hoodie’s sleeve, for example, features the lyrics of Tokio Hotel hit “Boy Don’t Cry” written in yellow on the sleeve, while the cap shouts “High as F–k.” The black sweatshirt has Magdeburg on one sleeve and Los Angeles on the other, and the socks also have a city on each foot — a nod to Kaulitz and his twin brother’s native and chosen homes. The puffy bomber, emblazoned with the band’s logo on the almost wasp waistband and “High” zip pull also comes with changeable Velcro ID badges reading Crew, Security or Girl Friend. The party-hearty scarf in red, black and yellow — the German national colors — stars the band’s name in Japanese, with “High” and “Tanzen” (German for dancing) positioned near the fringes.

Kaulitz, now 28 and quietly sporting short black hair after having been blonde for a stretch (not to mention the wild hair antics of his youth) told WWD he’s always been “passionate about fashion, like music. Luckily they go hand in hand.” However, while he described his self-styled stage outfits as “crazy” and added they’d remain that way, the capsule concept aimed to find styles all four band members would look and feel well in.

“We never talk about what we wear and then we’d just show up,” he said. “I wanted to make something for all of us, and it was important to be authentic because we are very different.” Comfort is also vital, he pointed out, “because we’re on tour so much, so it’s basically streetwear. But the bottom line is that we can all wear something in the collection.”

Produced in Germany and elsewhere in Europe, the capsule has been online for two weeks. So far the red sweatshirt has been the top seller. “It’s about the color, as it’s pretty well the only color in the collection. But people love the jacket too, because you can wear it on both sides,” the singer said.

The retail strategy, he explained, is to exclusively partner with one store per country. Given the time he and his twin spend in L. A., where they’ve lived for the past eight years, he suggested Fred Segal would “probably be the next.” From a merchandising standpoint, the plan is to “just add pieces randomly, but getting a little more crazy to take it a bit further.”

PEEP THE “BORDERLESS” BILL KAULITZ COLLECTION – INDIE Mag

Last week, INDIE met with musician-turned-designer Bill Kaulitz of cult band Tokio Hotel to discuss his new collection, debuting at The Store in Soho House, Berlin. As we sat down, he talked about the time pressure of setting up the collection, and his excitement for the launch that night. Displayed in wardrobe cases from the band’s touring days, the collection is minimal, high quality, and unisex. Street, with a ‘90s edge, but also current in its use of branding, adjustable labelling, and text details, the collection is a product of Tokio Hotel as a band, with Kaulitz working to make his brainchild a reality.

When you began your music career, you were big in breaking gender stereotypes – was and is this still linked to your personal style?

Totally, I think when I was super young and started out, I didn’t really know what I was doing, so I never had these borders. I was never afraid of wearing women’s stuff. Even from the beginning, I always thought it was so unfair that women have such a wide range of pieces and options to pick from. Back in school, I always just bought whatever I wanted that fit me. For me, it was just about the size. I wasn’t even aware that that would freak out so many people, I was just doing it. But for me, there are no borders in fashion, that’s why the collection is unisex and I just do all the sizes from XS to XL. I don’t think gender in fashion should be a thing – it just depends on how you style it.

What do you think is the power behind clothing, or what you wear every day?

For me it’s just about freedom – that’s the most important thing in life. It’s important to me to live that with my clothes. I never wanted people to tell me what to wear. When I became successful record companies and producers suddenly wanted to control it. I remember people saying “Oh he’s getting a little too crazy – people don’t understand it anymore. It’s going too far away from the teen act, the teen look.” Everyone said the hair is too much, the nails are too long, there’s too much make up. But I just got crazier when people told me that.

I wanted to be in control of how I looked and what I wore. I felt like it was the only thing I could actually have control over in my life, because all the other things were just happening around me. What I would choose in the morning was my freedom, and I didn’t want to give that away.

Did designing and choosing many of your own stage costumes lead to your interest in developing this passion further?

I think it was always kind of there. Even when I was young I was sketching dresses and these amazing fur coats – even though I would never wear fur! But I loved to sketch it out. I made my own stuff because I didn’t have money back then, so I couldn’t afford any cool clothes. I would buy cheap stuff, make my own design, and get my mum to sew it together! Fashion was always my big interest besides music. Luckily they come hand in hand, and Tokio Hotel was always very visual – we always put on a show. We always had costumes and stuff like that.

The use of fur or animal products is a big discussion point in fashion right now. How important is this standpoint to you, as I know you also are an advocate for PETA?

Yes, I actually just found this amazing full faux fur coat from Dries Van Noten and it feels so real – if we can make pieces like those, why can’t everyone just wear them? It’s so amazing and I love the look of fur. I designed stuff for one tour with Dan and Dean from DSquared, and I forced them to use faux leather. I said if I can make it, we should do it, and it worked out so nicely, and there are some amazing fabrics out there that you can’t really tell the difference. There’s so much you can do now that feels so real, even leather.

Who were your biggest inspirations or icons that influenced your views, either in fashion or music?

I think the biggest influence on me had to be David Bowie, because growing up I watched “Labyrinth” where he’s that king in the castle with this crazy hair. I saw that movie every Sunday. Watching him dance and sing in these incredible costumes, that was very important and inspired me from the beginning of my career. I was also listening to German singer Nena back in the day, I loved her ‘80s stuff. I remember watching her perform in these amazing looks, dancing and singing in these incredible outfits. I would look at my mum saying “I want to do that too – I want to be on stage, and sing and perform.” So yeah, those were my childhood heroes.

People always had a lot of interest in the versatility of your style, having described you as “a punk, a drag, a lumberjack”… how do you decide what to wear in the morning?

I never think ahead or make a plan, usually I decide on the day. I always have options. Even for red carpet events or a show, I select from these options at the last minute. I never decide on an outfit beforehand because for me normally it’s about how I feel in the moment. When I wake up in the morning, I usually know what to wear. It never works for me to think about it the night before – fashion is so much about the moment. Like when I’m hungover and feel bad, I like to wear a lot of white and colours, and when I look tan and am relaxed I wear more of the dark stuff. It’s just all about the feeling. I love to change too, I never stick to one style. I think the other guys in the band would be happy to just wear sweatpants because it’s comfortable. But I would be so uncomfortable on stage, I need an outfit to make me feel alive.

What do you want people to take from the pieces you created?

I think the challenge for me, because we are all so different in the band, was that I wanted to reflect that and to create pieces everybody can wear and enjoy. I think we each style stuff differently, but we are all comfortable in the pieces. The fabrics are super comfy and the hoodies are so soft – I just wanted really nice quality. I wanted it to be comfortable for everyone, and cool and street style, kind of ‘90s.

Where do you see your eclectic evolution heading in the future?

I just want to keep adding pieces. I’m already working on the new designs – I was on tour and had so much to do. The Store is the only store in Germany that’s going to carry this collection, but it’s being stocked in different countries. That’s what we wanted to do – just one partner in each country. And obviously online as well. We’ll also keep touring. In February we start a 40 date tour in Latin America and the US. We are also working on a book – there’s a lot going on.

They say life is what happens while you’re making other plans – turns out that`s especially true facing a global pandemic. In March 2020, Tokio Hotel were supposed to embark on an extended tour through Latin America. But then the outbreak of the Coronavirus shook the world, shock-froze the entire music business and terminated their tour right after the third show in Guadalajara. Bill, Tom, Georg and Gustav, had to cancel their flight to Quito, Ecuador and redirect courses to Los Angeles and Magdeburg, their home in Germany.

But what’s the point in letting a quarantine crush your spirits, right? And since Bill and Tom are practically living in their L.A. home recording studio and constantly video-chatting with Gustav and Georg anyways, they might as well continue to work on new material. Follow up on some idea here, write some new lyrics there – for other artists and their very own band alike.

After all, the exact same work ethos had already spawned their 2019 singles “Melancholic Paradise”, “When It Rains It Pours” and “Chateau”. But to take that output, wrap it up with some new songs and release an album in these trying and utterly uncertain times? Just didn’t feel right.

So why not use the forced hiatus to take a breath, go within and maybe even reminisce on some cherished memories? Especially when 2020 marks the 15th anniversary since the band released the German version of their global mega-hit “Monsoon”. When it’s been over a decade that has seen its members put out six studio albums, sell more than 10 million records and win over 70 platinum and 120 gold awards, as well as 110 national and international music awards in 68 countries.

So Bill, Tom, Gustav and Georg spent days and nights diving into their archives, rummaging forgotten pictures and videos, revisiting old schedules and taking their Instagram followers on a nostalgic journey back in time. They re-posted early band photos, backstage snapshots and screenshots of the single charts from the release week of “Durch den Monsun”. And then they topped off this #timemachine-trip with the announcement of a new version of their iconic song.

“We wondered what ‘Monsoon’ would sound like if 2020 was the first time we ever recorded it”, Bill explains. “We talked about an acoustic version, collaborated with producers and had other artists do remixes of the song. But somehow it just wasn’t what we wanted. So eventually, like so many times before, we ended up doing it ourselves. A couple of minutes later we had a beat that sounded like a trip, a journey – which is exactly what we have always associated with that song. Everything that happened to us throughout these last 15 years had started with that song.”

“Monsoon is not just about memories of 2005. It’s a song that has always accompanied us during these last 15 years”, Georg adds. “For us this song is closely tied to all of our major successes. We have played it live at the Eiffel Tower, in front of 500.000 on Bastille Day. We have played it at our very first gig in the US and during every single tour that followed. And it’s always been the highlight of every show.”

“Monsoon 2020” has a driving beat, mellow guitars, vibing vocal samples and a melody both close enough and yet entirely different to the original – all of which makes the song a nostalgic tribute to the past and a candid glance into the future. “Everyone remembers the lyrics and connects them to feelings they felt during a specific time in their lives. But we also wanted the new version to resonate with the here and now”, Bill says. “I believe 2020 has been rough for a lot of people, so the words of the song are still very relevant today.”

And this much may be revealed: “Monsoon 2020” is only just the beginning. The first of several singles yet to be released.

ESTHER FOR BILL KAULITZ – TOKIO HOTEL – esther perbandt

How Esther Perbandt and Bill Kaulitz found each other

Just two days before this crazy year 2020 ended, Esther received a message from Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel on Instagram, asking if she would like to collaborate and design an outfit for him for a new music video. Tokio Hotel was about to launch their new song ‚,White Lies“ which they created together with the Berlin based electronic music project VIZE.
Bill Kaulitz had heard so much about Esther from Heidi Klum and was dreaming about something all black, Esther’s specialty.

Using new digital tools to create the perfect Bill Kaultitz look

Time was running, as the video was scheduled to be shot only 2 weeks later. With no time to get bored over New Years eve, Esther started designing right away. Bill Kaulitz was inspired by something larger than life, a super hero, strong and protective. In order to get everything organized in time, Esther had to disturb her freelance team of pattern maker and seamstress over their holidays. With new technologies giving the ability to digitally take measurements, Esther and her pattern maker were able to create an avatar of Bill Kaulitz as he was still in Los Angeles at the time. All fittings and changes on the design were made digitally. This made it possible to have a perfect fitting outfit for Bill Kaulitz on the day of the shooting. Esther was invited to join the team at the shooting day in Berlin in January 2021.

After a successful shooting day Bill Kaulitz added:

“We wanted to make a video that was visually new and exciting. Baris Aladag (film maker) came up with the idea to make us fly and I was immediately hooked. We had the best stunt, light and visual effects team and created a very unique world for White Lies. For the perfect look, I asked Esther Perbandt to design my outfit and it turned into an action super hero moment that I love! We still have bruises from the harnesses and stunts, but it was worth it.“

Tokio Hotel’s Bill And Tom Kaulitz Talk New Album ‘Kings of Suburbia,’
And The Sexy Music Video ‘Love Who Loves You Back’ EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

    Tokio Hotel is back!

Founded in 2001, the German pop rock band became huge in the 2000s, selling over 7 million albums worldwide. Though they were biggest in Europe and South America, they also made their mark in the US, becoming the first German band to win a VMA (for Best New Artist). In 2011, the band took a much-needed break and founding members Bill and Tom Kaulitz moved to Los Angeles to enjoy a little anonymity. The result – their first album in five years, “Kings of Suburbia.”

We called up Bill and Tom to talk about Tokio Hotel’s new album, the super sexy music video for their lead single “Love Who Loves You Back” and their “Mariah Carey tour rider.”

Moving from Germany to Los Angeles was a huge change for you. What was that experience like?

Bill: It was a massive change. You can’t even compare how we were living then and how we’re living now. We were on the road for such a long time. We’ve been performing since we were 15, we were been putting out one album after another and traveling all the time. So we never really had a private life aside from the career. It was just a lot of work and traveling all the time. We got burned out. We needed a change. We didn’t want to make another album that just sounded like the one before it. So we really needed that change, and Tom and I were finally able to go outside without any security, without having people in front of your house, and just be like normal people.

Do you think you’ll ever move back to Germany?

    Tom: I don’t know, I don’t think so.
Bill: We go back for Christmas and for vacation. We like Europe! I think if we could live there, then we probably would have never moved away. But it’s just impossible for us to have privacy and the balance with a career. LA is way more comfortable for us. But then we want to live everywhere. I want to live in New York for a while because I love the city so much. So you never know if we’ll stay in LA. But it’s certainly been a good city.

What were some of your influences for “Kings of Convenience”?

Bill: The biggest influence and the biggest inspiration for the album was the new freedom Tom and me found living in Los Angeles. We moved from Germany to LA before we started recording the album, just to find some privacy and live life. It worked great for us. I think the biggest inspiration was life in general, to do normal things, to be with people and be out. We’ve been out a lot, so I feel like the nightlife was a big inspiration. That might be why the album is so electronic, it’s inspired by the club scene and the electronic scene. In the studio, we started to step out of our comfort zone and try different things and different sounds. That’s why this album sounds different from what we’ve done before.

I wanted to ask about the music video for “Love Who Loves You Back.” It’s very provocative! Did you come up with the idea for the video?

Bill: Yeah, it was. We are super hands on, creative-wise, and I love to come up with all the videos and photoshoots and album art and everything. I always wanted to make a video like that. I’ve always had this idea inspired by the movie “Perfume.” I was always inspired by that because it’s one of my favorite movies. The guy keeps creating the perfume and at the end he pulls it out and everyone starts to make out and it turns into this huge orgy. I always thought that we could do that with our song and our music instead of perfume. I wanted to do it with the last album but we never had the right song or the right director. It was just the perfect song and the perfect time to do it. We came up with the concept and talked about it with the director and he was loving it, he said, “Yeah, let’s do it.” And everything came together. It was definitely an interesting shoot, it was a lot of fun.

What was the filming process like?

Bill: We shot in a super old hotel in downtown Los Angeles. We shot in the basement. It was all grimy and old and it was very cool. We had so many people there. We kind of free-styled the whole thing. We had a rough idea of what we wanted and then we just saw, with all the people, where everything goes. If people were comfortable, we would take it further and further. We started very slow but went further. Then we saw tongue!

I wanted to ask about your fanbase. Even though it’s been five years since you released new music, your fanbase seems to be as strong as ever. Were you surprised?

Tom: We were definitely surprised. The label and everyone who knows things told us that it would be career suicide to stop putting out music, that the industry changes so much and people are always putting out new music. They said, “You guys are insane, you’re going to kill your career.” And we said, “If that’s the case, then that’s the case, but we don’t want to put out a shitty record and this is what we need.” So we kind of just did it even though everyone told us it was not a good idea. We never expected that the fans would wait for the music to come out, so we were definitely surprised by how they reacted and how many people waited all these years for us. Even during the hiatus we were still winning awards so our fans are so incredible. They’re so amazing and so supportive and we’re really lucky to have them, these days it’s hard to have fans who are so supportive.

When I googled “Tokio Hotel,” “fanfiction” was an autocomplete and I also found a lot of trivia quizzes and fan art.

Tom: They are creative. We get a lot of presents, a lot of creative stuff that the fans are doing. It’s insane, some of them spend so much time on things. Last week, we were in Mexico and it was crazy how many people showed up, and how long they waited to give us something. Some of them would give us their personal Bibles or a personal piece of jewelry from their family, it was so much personal stuff. It’s amazing how much love they have.

90,000 image change, fashion photo shoots and love for Louis Vuitton and Rolex

Bill Kaulitz from childhood was different from his peers, was fond of art and did not like exact sciences. Bill is 10 minutes younger than his twin brother Tom, they never break up and to this day spend their free time together.

    Bill & Tom Kaulitz:

    Childhood, biography of Bill Kaulitz

The brothers were born in Leipzig on September 1, 1989.Due to the divorce of his parents, when the twins were seven years old, Bill began to disagree with his peers and often entered into conflict situations. Two years later, the family moved to the village of Leutsche. Their mother Simone remarries musician Gordon Trumer, who later supported the twin teenagers in their musical aspirations.

In the village, Bill’s life was not sweet, because of his non-standard appearance he became an outcast, classmates often joked and teased the guy.But Bill was not going to change anything in himself, at 12 he pierced his tongue and eyebrow, and dyed his hair bright red, and then black.

Once on Halloween, Bill dressed up as a vampire, he brought his eyes down with black pencil, painted up his nails with black varnish. The guy liked the image so much that he began to use it in everyday life. Bill’s appearance in the village only caused indignation.

Soon the twins, after consulting, decide that they need to leave the village and go to the city. But they were still children, naturally they were not allowed to go anywhere, the twins had to finish school.

    Tokio Hotel

When Bill turns 13, he and his brother create their own musical group Devilish
and the brothers perform in the bars of Magdeburg, which is located near their village. Later, two more boys join them, and the group changes its name to Tokio Hotel.
    .

After a while, Bill decided to try his hand at a talent show, but did not make it to the quarterfinals. But it was Bill’s participation in the talent show that drew the attention of producer Peter Hoffman to him, who took up the Tokio Hotel group.

Bill was fascinated by show business and quickly got used to it. So, not yet graduating from school, he becomes the lead singer of the group.

From this moment on, the Kaulitz brothers grow up in front of their audience. During this time, Bill has changed his image more than once, and continues to amaze with his appearance, and his style is inherited by girls from all over the world.

The group’s first song was “Durch den Monsun”
, and a month later the group released their first album “Schrei”
    .

The twin brothers begin a busy life with constant tours, which once affected the health of the soloist, Bill had to undergo surgery on his vocal cords.

With increasing popularity, Bill and Tom are invited as jury members to the show “Germany is looking for a superstar”,

In 2010 Bill tries himself as a model. Together with his brother, he advocates for the protection of animals, in particular, for Euro 2012, they took part in a campaign against the extermination of animals in Ukraine.

And in 2011 he received the STAR PLANETE award. Several times the musician took the championship in the category “International Male Artist”.

    Bill Kaulitz’s Personal Life

Bill Kaulitz keeps his personal life behind seven locks. The producer also helps to hide the brothers’ private life in order to keep the popularity of the group on top.

As Bill himself stated, since the inception of the group, the musician has less time for his personal life. Therefore, he had only a few novels, about which almost nothing is known. In this regard, rumors began to appear about the musician’s homosexuality. But Bill denies all the rumors and claims that he has not yet met the one with whom he would like to spend his life.

There were also rumors that Bill had a short-lived affair with Nikki Ramsay.
daughter of British TV presenter Gordon Ramsay. But this novel is also in doubt. Although the girl claims that she and Bill had a relationship and did not last long, and despite the breakup, she and Bill maintained a warm relationship.

With the passage of time, the 25-year-old soloist of the group has noticeably matured and radically changed his image. He first dyed from gothic black to platinum blond. However, the changes in the star’s appearance did not end there. Now the skinny artist, who has adorned his body with tattoos, wears a neat short hairstyle, he also grew thick stubble. Today, September 1, twin brothers Tom and Bill Kaulitz – members of the once popular Tokio Hotel group – celebrate their birthday. In honor of this event, “Owl” decided to recall interesting facts from their creative and personal life.

Bill and Tom Kaulitz are musicians who became world famous thanks to the Tokio Hotel group. About 10 years ago, the guys gathered a huge number of fans at concerts, and every second teenage girl was in love with them. But even today, despite the decline in popularity, the Kaulitz brothers, together with the collective, albeit not so often, continue to perform. In honor of the 29th birthday of the guys, we decided to tell interesting facts from their creative and personal life.

Future musicians – idols of youth were born in Leipzig (Germany). By the way, Tom was born 10 minutes earlier than his brother, Bill. This is not to say that the guys from an early age developed an endless interest in music – they were ordinary teenagers of that time: Bill began to dye his hair black, Tom at the age of twelve first braided his dreadlocks.

The brothers’ parents (father is a truck driver, mother is a seamstress) divorced when they were still schoolchildren. And their peers treated them specifically because of their extraordinary appearance. However, the girls already in those years were crazy about handsome brothers: Bill amazed everyone with his magical aura and gentle character, Tom conquered with innocent smiles, humor, charm and charisma.

    Photo: portal “The most successful”

In 2001, the guys decided to create their own group – it was named Devilish. The students of the school in which they studied began to ridicule their hobby. But the guys continued to believe in their success and regularly gathered in the Kaulitz garage and rehearsed. A little later, Bill took part in a German talent show – there he was noticed by producer Peter Hoffman, who began to promote his team – after a while he got his current name –

And so, in 2005 the first single was released, and then – the video for the track “Durch den Monsun”. And off we go: the first album, new videos, sold-out concerts. Problems also arose: in particular, Bill, who was the vocalist, began to break his voice. But the musicians, who are rapidly gaining popularity, managed to survive this.

In 2007 the band embarked on a new tour in support of Zimmer 483. In total, since 2005, the musicians have organized five tours – both in Europe and America, Mexico and other countries of the world. They even gave several concerts in Moscow, which were sold out – the fans were delighted!

Well, now it’s time to tell about the personal life of the Kaulitz brothers. There are many rumors around them, and not always pleasant ones.Let’s start with Bill. There were often rumors that he had an unconventional sexual reputation: perhaps this was due to his appearance, which he, having matured, changed. He had relationships with girls – with one of them, Trina Strassenburg – a fan of the group, he dated for over a year. But in 2014, he wrote an article – that when he meets a person he loves, his gender, nationality, age and weight will not be important to him.

Tom Kaulitz was officially married – in 2015 he married model Rie Sommerfeld, but six months later the musician filed for divorce. And in March 2018, reports began to appear that Tom spends a lot of time in the company of German supermodel Heidi Klum.

It is difficult to find a person who has never heard of the legendary Tokio Hotel. The compositions of this group have become world hits, and the leader of the group, Bill Kaulitz, is a real idol of the youth. The life of Bill and his brother Tom is reminiscent of a fairy tale in which two provincial teenagers become stars of show business. But, despite the dizzying success, Bill does not seek excessive publicity and prefers a calm, secluded life surrounded by his family and dogs.

    Bill’s Biography
    Kaulitz

Bill Kaulitz was born in Leipzig on September 1, 1989, 10 minutes later than his brother Tom. When the brothers were 7 years old, their parents divorced. The twins’ mother – Simone – remarries the musician Gordon Trumer. The family soon moved from the bustling Leipzig to the village of Leutsche.

From a very young age, Bill was very eccentric and tried to stand out from the crowd.Peers disliked the brothers, but Bill and Tom did not give up. Music became the main outlet for them. When they were 13 years old, they founded their first band, which they called “Devilish”. The stepfather, who first noticed the extraordinary musical abilities of the twins, became their main assistant and mentor. Soon two more teenagers joined the band, after which the name of the group was changed to “Tokio Hotel”.

However, Bill wanted something more than living in the countryside and occasional performances in local bars. And in 2003 he takes part in a talent show. Despite the fact that Bill lost in the quarter-finals, this idea turned out to be a great success. Producer Peter Hoffman drew attention to the young singer. It was thanks to Hoffman that the whole world learned about Tokio Hotel. The producer helped the guys create a stage image and taught them how to communicate with the press. At this time, Bill begins to study vocal vigorously. At the same time, by his own admission, the singer never mastered musical notation.

In August 2005, the band released their first single “Durch den Monsun”, which instantly went to # 1 on the music charts. And literally a month later the debut album “Schrei” was released. It was an incredible success. Bill becomes the idol of millions of teenagers around the world and a role model. Young musicians are honored with the most prestigious music awards and pose for the covers of popular magazines, and the sales of their discs are breaking all records. At the same time, the new group differs sharply from the majority of groups popular among teenagers. Bill’s poems set to music touch upon such important and complex topics as drug addiction, the search for the meaning of life, loneliness, suicide and orphanhood.

Immediately after the release of “Schrei” the band embarks on a European tour. Intense touring at some point even undermined Bill’s health: he had to undergo surgery on his vocal cords.

Today the Tokio Hotel group is a successful, dynamically developing project. Together, the musicians and the production team have created 5 full-length albums, several live DVDs and organized many performances around the world. However, Bill Kaulitz’s activities are not limited exclusively to music. He participates as a model at the shows of leading fashion houses, voices cartoons, is a member of the jury at the German talent show. Bill is also known as an animal rights activist. The musician is a vegetarian and does not wear leather or fur clothes. Together with his brother, they took part in a number of actions against cruelty to homeless and circus animals.

In 2010, the Kaulitz brothers left Germany and moved to Los Angeles, where, according to Bill, they manage to avoid the intrusive attention of the public and calmly work on their music.Bill has visited Russia on several occasions. In one of his interviews, he noted that the Russian mentality is very close to him.

    Bill’s personal life
    Kaulitz

The musician tries to hide his personal life from the press. The same policy is followed by the producer Hoffman, who believes that information about the novels of the Kaulitz brothers can alienate the group of young fans. For a short time, Bill met with Nikki Ramsay, the daughter of the famous TV presenter Gordon Ramsay. However, the girl was subjected to a real flurry of insults and threats from Bill’s fans and chose to end this relationship. At the moment, Bill Kaulitz claims that he has not yet met a girl with whom he would be ready to spend his life.

Bill Kaulitz was born on September 1, 1989 in Leipzig, East Germany. The baby was born ten minutes after the birth of his twin brother Tom Kaulitz.

After 7 years, their parents decided to leave, after which the family changed their place of residence and moved to the village of Leutsche. After a while, the mother married the musician Gordon Trumper.

Even in early childhood, Bill dreamed of singing on stage, and his favorite singer was Nena, and the boy even managed to listen to her performance at a concert.

Tom also shared his brother’s hobbies, so his mother and stepfather did everything to make the children’s dream come true. At the age of 12, Bill got pierced, pierced his tongue and eyebrow, in addition, he dyed his hair black. On Halloween, Bill always dressed up as a vampire, as he liked the dark gothic style.

In the photo, Bill and Tom Kaulitz in their deep childhood

To match the image, the boy painted his eyes with black pencil. Since Kaulitz stood out among his peers for his unusual appearance and hobbies, they constantly teased and offended him.

    Creative career

Studying was difficult for the brothers, they bullied and did not obey their elders, so the teachers constantly scolded them. When Bill and Tom turned 13, they began performing in bars in Magdeburg, where they met two young men, Gustav Schaefer and Georg Listing, who were also passionate about music. The guys united and created their own group called Devilish, releasing a disc with their own compositions, which is still appreciated among music lovers. They multiplied it in an amount of 300 and distributed it at their performances. The young musicians were accidentally heard by the producer, who later invited them to audition. The Devilish members were very worried, but everything went well and the producer signed with them, renaming the group Tokio Hotel.

In 2003, Kaulitz tried his hand at the German competition for young talent, but despite the fact that the performance was unsuccessful, he was noticed by producer Peter Hoffmann, who later did a lot for the successful promotion of the team. Having entered the world of show business, the musicians began to learn how to behave on stage, give autographs to fans, and also communicate with the press.Bill began to improve his vocals, as he was always lazy to learn musical notation, so he could not play musical instruments. In August 2005, the band’s first single “Durch den Monsun” was recorded, which quickly climbed to the highest point in the Austrian charts. A month later, the first studio album “Schrei” was created. Throughout the year, the band members recorded three videos that quickly reached number one. The musicians’ talent was recognized by the important König Pilsener Arena prize, which was presented to them right at the concert in the spring of 2006.In the same period they released their second album “Schrei – so laut du kannst”, and in the fall they went on their first tour, having attended a concert in Moscow.

In the spring of 2007, Tokyo Hotel toured Europe. In Russia, they first performed in St. Petersburg, and then in Moscow. In the summer, their first English-language album “Scream” appears, with which musicians begin to gain popularity in America, England, Italy, Spain. Frequent tours around the world and a busy work schedule undermined the health of the musicians. So, at the beginning of 2008, the artists were forced to cancel their tour of Europe due to the illness of the soloist, who was diagnosed with a tumor on the vocal cords. When the operation was performed, Bill was not allowed to speak for several weeks. But already in May, the group gave their first concert after the operation at a festival in New York. In the fall of 2009, the fourth album “Humanoid” was released, where the arrangement of the songs was mainly electronic. In the spring of 2010, the musicians went on tour to Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, and then to Japan.

After that, the German artists took a break from their creative work to rest and take up a new album, but in the fall of 2012 Bill and his brother appeared on the screens in the show “Germany is looking for a superstar”, where they joined the jury. This popular German show features a permanent jury member, Dieter Bohlen, and the rest are invited every year. The latest news about Tokio Hotel will only delight their fans: the musicians have released a new album “Kings of Suburbia” (Kings of the Suburb), which was worked on by twin brothers without any outside help. Those who have already listened to the new compositions, sounding in English, perceived this work ambiguously. Some did not like the musical sound of the songs, but critics believe that the artists were able to achieve the highest sound in them. In the first half of 2015, the musicians intend to begin the Feel It All World Tour in support of their new album, which will run until December 2015.

    Bill Kaulitz’s Personal Life

After Bill Kaulitz and his brother became famous, they had many female fans who were bombarded with love letters. But the peculiar style of the twin brothers, various photos, as well as their songs gave rise to many questions and speculations about their personal life. Rumors that Bill and Tom are kissing for show, whether Bill has a girlfriend, and where to find her photo, constantly interested the fans of the brothers’ creativity. And few people could believe that the singer had not yet met the girl of his dreams, so he is still alone. It should be noted that Kaulitz himself does not like to talk about his love affairs, believing that this relationship should be personal and intimate, but in one interview he admitted that he dreams of meeting his girlfriend.

According to the musician, he is not a fan of easy hobbies and only welcomes a serious and long-term relationship. At the same time, Bill, who often has to communicate with fans, does not exclude the possibility that one of them could become his girlfriend. At one time, there were persistent rumors about Bill’s romance with Nikki Ramsay, the daughter of British chef and TV presenter Gordon Ramsay, but this relationship quickly ended. One way or another, but lovers become the object of close attention from cunning paparazzi and fans, and the latter are very jealous of the object of love of their idol, sometimes even hateful.Kaulitz’s fans began to threaten Ramsay and her family, after which the frightened girl decided to part with her lover.

In the photo Laura Kleinas and Bill

During the participation of the lead singer of the group Tokyo Hotel in the DSDS show as a member of the jury, many of his fans noted that Bill sympathized with one of the members, whose name is Laura Kleinas. The artist was delighted with the performance of a charming 17-year-old Frenchwoman, so he tried to promote her to the final. In one of the episodes of the show, Bill confessed his love to the girl, but Laura herself claimed that there was only music between them.

In 2010, the Kaulitz brothers relocated to Los Angeles. The artists decided to take a break from their creative careers and, hiding from everyone, dreamed of living their own lives. They acquired a luxurious mansion, where they can now safely work on new projects. Four dogs also settled in the musicians’ new house. Bill and Tom are vegetarians and wildlife enthusiasts, so they partnered with PETA, an animal rights organization. In the fall of 2010, the Kaulitz brothers took part in an unusual photo session under the motto “Slaves of the entertainment industry: Wild animals have no place in the circus.” In these pictures, they are captured in a cage where circus animals are kept, and the artists were not only chained, but also smeared in soot and blood. Bill and Tom also recorded a video message to the public, describing the conditions under which the four-legged circus performers, who are very often beaten, are kept. Also, young people believe that it is necessary to reduce the use of animals in entertainment activities and try to replace them with people.

Relationship with other singers and popularity among fans

Participants of Tokyo Hotel are friendly with each other and work as a well-coordinated team, but sometimes Bill gets it from them, as he can be very capricious and lazy. During the tour, the lead singer of the group does not help his colleagues to wear heavy stage props, believing that only a microphone is his instrument. Bill was looking for clothes for performances himself, and he liked this occupation. According to the singer, if his musical career did not work out, he would definitely become a fashion designer.Kaulitz has always treated his stage image with trepidation, so a professional stylist and make-up artist Natalie Franz, who has extensive experience working with famous people, began to work with him. The girl is originally from Ukraine, but already in the late 80s she settled in Europe. It was she who created Bill his crazy hairstyles and makeup, which infuriated his fans.

But the performer, who was popular mainly among teenagers, also had those who opposed his popularity, who considered the soloist’s image too sexy. These young men even set up a small anti-fan club, where its members claimed that the singer was attractive to both women and men. According to rumors, German rapper Buschido had a special sympathy for Kaulitz, but the artist himself has always denied his involvement in gays. Also, the American singer and actor Adam Lambert, known for his participation in the show “American Idol”, has repeatedly said in his interviews that he would like to personally meet and get to know Bill. At one time, Adam was classified as a gay person, but this did not prevent him from becoming a successful performer with his own style. The fact that the acquaintance of the two singers took place was announced on Twitter by Lambert himself. He enthusiastically told the readers that the meeting did not last long, but in a very friendly atmosphere.

Many fans are interested not only in Bill’s work and pictures, but also like to read his quotes recorded at different times. They like the interesting look of their idol on many things, while some even change their imaginations and learn from him to achieve their goals, overcoming obstacles. For example, the singer said that when a dream comes true, it leaves a person. Also his catch phrase is: “The most powerful drug is fame, but if you take it away from me, I will not survive this blow.”

Style Evolution and Photo Shoot Participation

At the beginning of his singing career, Kaulitz dyed his eyes, did piercings and preferred a short haircut with long bangs. The producers of the Tokio Hotel group considered such a bisexual image of the soloist to be successful, since it aroused the interest of many music lovers, and teenage fans began to imitate him.As Bill grew older, there were changes in his image.

Bill Kaulitz’s bright androgynous image will be remembered by fans for a long time

His black hair became long and black varnish appeared on his nails. The make-up has become more professional and the lips have shine. Bright appearance and confidence on stage allowed the artist to achieve great success in his career. In 2007, he uses white strands in his hair and prefers to wear rocker style clothes. In 2009, Kaulitz showed several looks: first he appears with dreadlocks, and then a mohawk appears on his head, and the performer switches to heels and tight things.

Since 2012, Bill has radically changed his image …

Then, like many celebrities, the singer fell in love with knitted hats. For some time, the twin brothers did not perform at concerts and did not appear on television, but when in the fall of 2012 they took part in the filming of the show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, they showed the audience their new image. Bill went blonde, coma this, he was without makeup and with three days of stubble.

The Tokio Hotel soloist got tattoos at a young age: this is a drawing in the form of a star on his right hip, then the inscription “Svoboda-89” on his left hand and the band’s logo on his neck. There is also an image on the shoulder that resembles a mermaid, and the inscriptions on the left side probably refer to her: “We return to the roots” and “We will never stop screaming.” Now Kaulitz has a few more tattoos: the time of birth is stamped on his fingers – 0630, and on his left hand there is a skeleton with a flower and a bird. Bill’s chest is also decorated with a large tattoo that says “See you in outer space.” But what this symbolic tattoo means, he does not reveal.

The popular German singer, with his high height of 184 cm, weighs only 52 kg, so many fans were worried that their pet was developing anorexia. In addition, there were rumors that he consumes a lot of alcohol and dabbles in drugs. In one interview, Bill said that everything is fine with him, and he is not sick with anything. Moreover, the singer loves sweets and everything baked. Kaulitz admitted that during the days when they had their first musical group, he often drank alcohol and was very drunk, but then the singer got older and realized all his wrong actions.

Tall and thin, Bill, who has an eccentric style, dreamed of trying his hand at being a model in the fashion industry. And in early 2010, he first took part in the fashion show of the fashion house Dsquared, where he created the image of a “fallen angel”. Then the singer was invited to shoot by publishers Stern, where he showed off his graceful body in various outfits. The artist got bright makeup, painted his nails with dark varnish, and combed his hair back. Also in October 2010, the Kaulitz brothers became the faces of the glossy magazine L’Uomo Vogue, and the photography took place in Sicily in the Biscari Palace. But sometimes the lead singer and members of the Tokio Hotel group manage to relax and unwind in the Maldives. That’s when Bill can afford to be without makeup and hair, however, and there the musicians get the ubiquitous paparazzi.

At the peak of his popularity, the German singer has many doubles. But what a surprise it was when Kaulitz himself was accused of copying the image of the 25-year-old Japanese singer Miyavi, the former guitarist of the Indian band Duele Quartz. The performers themselves ignored this statement. Most likely, both showed interest in Japanese “manga”, which was in great fashion at the time.Bill only corrected his gothic-vampiric style, which is why there was a similarity with Miyavi.

90,000 image change, fashion photo shoots and love for Louis Vuitton and Rolex “Cosmo passion

The popularity of the German band Tokio Hotel at the end of the 2000s was phenomenal. Seven years ago, teenage girls plastered their rooms with posters of the Kaulitz twin brothers and wanted to see their idols live. When the boy band arrived in Russia, they were greeted by thousands of teenagers who completely bought up all the tickets to the Olimpiyskiy Sports Complex. But after a while the excitement around young stars subsided: now their names flash only in the headlines of the German press. SUPER is aware of the current life of a group that was once popular in Russia.

Over time, the 25-year-old lead singer of the group Bill Kaulitz has perceptibly matured and radically changed his image. First, he dyed from gothic dark to platinum blond. However, the changes in the appearance of the star did not end there. Now the skinny artist, who has adorned his body with tattoos, wears a neat little hairstyle and has grown thick stubble. His brother Tom Kaulitz has also changed significantly: the guitarist got rid of dreadlocks and grew a thick beard. Years were also reflected on the bassist of the band Gheorghe Listing : once a fat guy pumped up and cut off his long hair. Perhaps, only drummer Gustav Schaefer , who, unlike his own colleagues on the stage, managed to get married, did not change much outwardly.

By the way, the transformations in the appearance of the soloist Bill Kaulitz were followed by changes in the singer’s lifestyle. The young man is obsessed with fashion: he buys up the latest collections of prestigious houses Saint Laurent, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Rick Owens. In the pictures on Instagram, the artist periodically uploads photos of his bags, shoes and “bows”, necessarily signing the names of the brands. It is noteworthy that the matured Bill Kaulitz is now spending money not on cosmetics and jewelry, but on expensive Rolex watches.

Having resumed their concerts after a three-year hiatus, the musicians of Tokio Hotel are actively touring Europe and the USA.In between performances, the Kaulitz brothers spend time with their beloved dog, the bulldog Pumbaa, and take a role in fashion photo shoots. By the way, representatives of Tokio Hotel said that this year the group will give a concert in Russia.

90,000 Tokio Hotel asked for a selfie with Voronezh fans for 850 euros. Latest news from Voronezh and region

Members of the German synth-pop group Tokio Hotel will hold a paid meeting with Voronezh fans on the day of the concert, April 28, 2017.Prices for the so-called VIP packages, which give the fan the right to chat, take a photo with the musicians and receive a souvenir, are published on the band’s official website. The concert ticket is not included in the service and must be purchased separately.

The German team has provided VIP packages in five price categories for Voronezh fans. The most budgetary option – for 60 euros – will allow a fan to get on the Tokio Hotel soundcheck, take a collective photo, receive a commemorative card for the meeting participant and a 10% discount on the purchase of souvenirs.VIP packages for 160 and 210 euros include communication and professional photos with the musicians, an exclusive poster with autographs, skip-the-line purchases of goods with the band’s symbols and the opportunity to be on the photo-screensaver of a new episode in the group’s video blog.

Those who bought VIP packages for 850 euros, in addition to all the above services, will be able to take selfies with the artists, get backstage and sing a song with Tokio Hotel on stage during the Voronezh concert. And after the performance, the musicians in the dressing room will play a hit in acoustics for the owners of the package and present them with a branded item that they used during the show.

The most expensive package (for 2.5 thousand euros) will not be sold in Voronezh. Of the eight cities on the Russian tour, this option is available only to fans from Yekaterinburg and St. Petersburg. The reason for this “discrimination” is not indicated on the site. Perhaps, on the day of the Voronezh concert, the group will not have time to ride a limousine with the fans and prepare breakfast for the audience – these services are included in the “golden” package. It is also possible that the musicians considered the residents of Voronezh insolvent – in 2015, there was not a single person willing to buy their most expensive package in Voronezh.

Tokio Hotel will perform in Voronezh for the second time. The previous concert in 2015 at the Event-Hall attracted less than a thousand spectators. The lead singer of the group Billy Kaulitz entertained the residents of Voronezh with extravagant costumes, knowledge of Russian swear words, poured foam on the fans and sprinkled them with sparkles.
