The Papery in Canada Rossi1931 Featured Retailer

There are 3 owners of The Papery in Canada and 4 stores. That does sound like a bit of a puzzle, doesn’t it?

The stores are in Ottawa, Victoria and two are in Toronto. Katherine Slack, owner of The Papery in Ottawa, explains:

“As to our story, well, it is a bit complicated! Each of the stores is independently owned but we are not a franchise. We share the rights to the name The Papery in Canada so any new store partner would need to be approved by the group, but that is about the extent of our cooperation currently. In the past we traveled overseas and did some buying and importing as a group, but once the founders retired we lost our central distribution hub! Some products will turn up in all the stores, but there is no guarantee on that. Each shop is tailored to its neighborhood and the disposition of the owner.”

“The founders, now retired, are Valerie Wright and Sylvia Rodgers. The four shops are mine in Ottawa, Marla Freedland‘s two in Toronto, and

Michael Rodgers (who is the son of one of the founders)’ shop in Victoria.”

Puzzle solved!

All of The Papery stores carry a variety of quality stationery products, and fabulous gifts for every season and event. Products are winsome, creative, and always fresh and new. Notebooks, greeting cards, journals, day planners, wrapping paper, gift bags…and a Rossi presence is always on hand.

Come and see why customers describe the store as “The Happiest place in Victoria”, with “friendly staff”, “seriously gorgeous wrap”, and “always super handy for finding cards, packaging, and extra little presents for any occasion.”

I love Rossi for its elegance; and it is the wrapping paper that is the core of the Rossi we sell. The paper quality is excellent and our customers choose it for art as well as wrapping projects. We carry a lovely range of fabric ribbons that complement Rossi paper beautifully.”

The 12 Best Personalized Stationery Sets 2021 | The Strategist

Photo: Courtesy of the retailers

com/strategist/_components/clay-paragraph/instances/[email protected]” data-word-count=”95″>In an age of texts, Slacks, and WhatsApps, a handwritten note on nice paper has a special permanence. For situations that require sitting down and writing a letter or a thank-you, decent-looking stationery can go a long way. And if you’re going to invest in stationery, you might as well personalize it with your name, monogram, or even a custom, illustrated portrait. To find the best stationery for expressing yourself, we asked six designers, authors, and paper connoisseurs for their favorites. Their picks below range from the formal and traditional to the unusual and modern.

Nearly every paper and design pro we spoke with mentioned the two-centuries old Crane & Co. Adrian Gilling, associate creative director at Zero Studios, calls the brand “a staple that’s spanned generations,” and says, “I’m always confident they’ll have what I need to make a great impression.” Sarah Schwartz, editor-in-chief of Stationery Trends magazine and editor at the Paper Chronicles, likes their flat, ecru correspondence cards, which she finds to have the right mix of the traditional and the casual. “If you think about how it’s going to look in the mail, it’s going to be smaller than a business envelope but bigger than a traditional card so it just kind of stands out,” she says. “It’s distinctive yet not showy.”

While Elisa Maezono, design director at Franklyn studio says that “personalized stationery specifically feels old-fashioned in a way that note cards and beautiful paper products in general do not,” she does like designer Alissa Bell’s “fresher take” on the classics. With a notched corner and text-color options like mauve and cool gray, these note cards feel clean and modern.

Another newer brand putting its own spin on traditional designs, Los Angeles–based Sugar Paper mixes elegant borders with playful envelope-liner patterns like buffalo-check plaid or splatter dots. “Sugar Paper takes its cues from simple, classic designs but does so in a way that always comes across as current,” says Gilling. “I know my notes will always read as personal, yet proper.”

If Crane represents the old guard of stationery, then Rifle Paper Co. is the new wave. Schwartz says founder Anna Bond’s “drawing style is iconic enough that people recognize it, but still sort of whimsical and quirky.” Chelsea Atwell, partner and associate creative director at Zero Studios, says, “I’ve always been drawn to their floral prints and whimsical style. The color palettes are beautiful and there are lots of options to choose from to suit your style.” As her own mother was a florist, Atwell says, “Sending a note on Rifle personalized stationery makes me feel like I’m sending a little part of myself,” whether it’s with their bright blooms or their darker botanicals.

If your name and monogram isn’t enough personalization for you, Rifle Paper Co. will also create a custom portrait of you for your stationery. Schwartz says it’s “probably the coolest thing you can possibly get.” For a less steep fee, Rifle offers semi-custom portraits that can be designed from a template of hair, face, and clothing options.

If you’re looking for a gift for a recent grad, a friend starting a new job, or even just for yourself, Schwartz loves Haute Papier’s briefcase-style “stationery wardrobes” which can be customized with different paper sizes, envelopes, and business cards. They also come with pencils (in your choice of color), and Schwartz says the set has “everything you could possibly need,” for elegant, personalized writing.

Shepherd advises not spending a fortune on your stationery. It may deter you from actually using it if you’re hesitant that a situation warrants something so fancy. For affordable options, she likes the selection from Paper Source, and recommends stopping in to a store to get a feel for the different types of paper. This set, with its illustrated paper plane design, is just playful enough.

Minted, a site best known for its wedding invitations, is also a good source for unique stationery, according to Schwartz. “If you’re looking for a really offbeat design or just something that no one else is going to have, that’s a really good place to start,” she says. One of her favorite artists on the site is Erika Firm, who Schwartz says “does a lot of really great hand illustrations.” This abstract print is muted enough to not dominate the card while still being interesting.

Also available on Minted is stationery from Moglea, a husband-and-wife-owned letterpress studio recommended by Karen Benke, author of Write Back Soon! “The thickness of Moglea’s stationery is amazing, all painted and dip-dyed by hand too,” she says.

Life can be crazy, but taking a moment to sit down and handwrite a message is a restorative way to maintain personal relationships and engage with your loved ones. There’s no need to wait until the holidays to get in touch with someone. A letter out of the blue can feel even more special. Having a set of luxe personal stationery and your favorite pen on hand allows you to send off a note at any moment’s notice. Acknowledge how much your relationships mean to you and make a great impression by going one step further to send the perfectly crafted letter on any occasion. Here are just a few examples of when having personalized stationery on hand can save the day:

  • Show Your Gratitude: Have you ever received a kind gift from a friend, co-worker, or neighbor out of the blue? For any gift, large or small, show your appreciation by sending a handwritten letter shortly after. Keeping a set of personalized thank you notes ready at all times makes this a piece of cake. Minted has plenty of cards with the words “thank you” already incorporated into the design.
  • Remind Them You Are Thinking of Them: There does not always need to be a reason to let someone know you are thinking of them. Utilize your personal stationery as a way to stay in touch with friends and family who may live far away or could use words of encouragement as they prepare for an upcoming life event.
  • Make an Announcement: Have any big changes occurred recently or did you celebrate a significant milestone? Use this as an opportunity to connect with your family and friends to update them on life events.

Custom stationery is a fun, yet practical gift option for any occasion. Between Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays, graduations, or teacher appreciation celebrations, a set of personalized stationery is always a practical gift that will be well received. The thoughtfulness of designing and gifting a custom set with an individual’s name, favorite colors, or favorite themes will not go unnoticed. A set of 25 cards come complimentary with a box, making them easy to store and bring out when needed. Every time your gift recipient goes to write a note, they’ll be reminded of you as they open the box and put their pen to paper.

We realize that different forms of correspondence yield varying degrees of formality or playfulness in their look and design. From personalized note cards presented by teachers to acknowledge a student’s academic excellence to a more formal card tailored for corporate communication, we are confident that you will find a stationery design on our site that captures the essence and tone of your correspondence. Below are just some of the custom stationery themes you can begin to make your own.

  • For Her: Identify a theme that matches her passions and tailor a set of Minted personalized stationery to match. Pick your favorite designs from our assortment highlighting beautiful botanicals, whimsical watercolor brushstrokes, and clever pattern or letter arrangements.
  • For Him: Achieve a sophisticated, bold look with our assortment of modern designs featuring cityscapes, geometric patterns, and powerful gold foil. Showcase his initials surrounded by simple yet elegant border framing.
  • For Families: Don’t leave anyone out! Personalize your stationery to incorporate your entire family. Include everyone’s names, even the dog, for a set that can be used by any member of the family. Having a set of family stationery on hand is great for when kid’s birthday parties and teachers thank you’s come around.
  • For Newlyweds: Recently married? Take advantage of this time to share the great news. Send thank you’s to your guests or let your vendors know how much you appreciate their contribution to your special day. Customize your stationery to match your wedding theme, include the bridal couple’s names, or feature an image from the wedding. Just like you both might create a joint email address, now you can share in themed stationery as well!
  • For Business: Start off on the right foot with the right custom stationery for your business. Incorporate your company logo, colors, name, address, and phone number to capture the essence of your business and convey the core values through impressively designed stationery. With your own set of high-quality personalized stationery, you’ll be ready to reach out to prospective clients, stay in touch with colleagues, and send thank yous.

Our personalized stationery cards are flat cards that come in two sizes: 5.5″ x 4.25″ or 4.25″ x 5.5″, which arrive in a complimentary gift box for easy storage. Folded cards can be found in our Thank You card assortment.

An order of 25 cards starts at $50, which breaks down to $2 a card. As you choose to increase the number of cards you order, you should see savings on the overall price per card. Envelopes are included free of charge along with the order, as well as recipient address printing if you already know who you would like to mail your correspondences to. Brighten things up and select one of our colored envelope options, which include navy, silver, black, craft, grey mist, aubergine, spruce, charcoal, antique rose, and cloud blue.

For a more luxe presentation, opt for a foil-pressed printing option that is priced a bit higher. The metallic foil will really help your note shine. Our foil press color options include gold, silver, rose gold, ice blue, black, bronze, glittery gold, and glittery silver.

To get started, pick a style you are interested in from our assortment of over 500 designs. Office supplies 90,000 Interesting facts about life in Canada

If you have not thought about moving to Canada, then, having got acquainted with the peculiarities of this country, you will certainly do it.It is not for nothing that almost half of the inhabitants of Canada are immigrants from other countries.

Healthy eating is promoted in schools

Most elementary schools in Canada with children under 12 do not have their own canteen. Parents give their children lunch with them. On the one hand, it is convenient: you always know what your child ate for lunch, on the other hand, you don’t always want to cook, because it is forbidden to bring a variety of chocolate bars, chips and other junk food to school. To inform parents about what is useful and what is not, the state regularly sends everyone special brochures with the necessary information.

There are canteens in high schools, and the cost of lunch there depends on the income of the parents. The food is simple and at the same time healthy: rice, pasta, vegetable and fruit salads, chicken or beef, milk, steamed vegetables, but the usual bread and buns are not there.

No mobile phones in schools

Ontario has banned the use of mobile phones in classrooms in schools. It is believed that they distract from the educational process, and instead of concentrating on the knowledge gained, the child is distracted by social networks.

Parents fill out a questionnaire about their child, which helps teachers reach their potential

When you send your child to a Canadian school, you will have to fill out several questionnaires with him. From them, the school leadership and teachers will know what is possible for the child and what is not, what holidays are celebrated in the family, what are the interests and abilities of the child.

All schools have one motto: “Every child matters”. These are not empty words. Canadian education is appreciated all over the world, and after graduating from school in Canada, you have the opportunity to enroll in any university in the world.

There are many wild animals in Canada

Wild animals in Canada can be found even in large cities. Wherever several trees grow close to each other, animals appear in the form of squirrels, skunks and raccoons.

There are many nature reserves in Canada. Passing them, you can see ground crossings for animals. Elk, deer, bears, lynxes and other forest dwellers actively use such “corridors”.

Love and respect for wildlife in Canada is raised from childhood. What can I say when four animals at once are the national symbols of the country. Officially, such an animal is a beaver. Canadians love these rodents for their tenacity and hard work, and their image can be seen on the 5 cent coin. And on the coins of 25 cents, 1 and 2 dollars, an elk, a black-billed loon and a polar bear are depicted, respectively.

At the pharmacy you can buy clothes, food and even take a photo

Shoppers Drug Mart is a large network of Canadian pharmacies. However, medical supplies in these pharmacies occupy only half of the shelves. Here you can buy a smartphone, tablet and even a game console, beauty products, books, stationery and toys.

Shoppers Drug Mart also has its own department of photo services, where you can take a picture for your passport or print your photos. Often there is also a post office here: you can send or receive a parcel.

A certain slang of English is used here.

There are two official languages in Canada – French and English. Canadian English is similar in pronunciation to American English with the addition of French. It has its own characteristics. For example, Canadians add the word eh to almost the end of every sentence. It means something like the following: “Really?”, “What do you think?”

At the same time, about 100 nationalities live in Canada, so almost any accent or slang is ignored here. This is very convenient if you have just moved.

Washing machines with dryers are very common

In Canada, a washing machine is purchased either complete with a dryer, or with a built-in dryer. In private houses, everyone has such a kit.

Apartment buildings usually have a laundry room with all the necessary equipment. In extreme cases, you can always find it in the next block, and the whole procedure of washing and drying clothes rarely takes more than 45 minutes.

Average speed by car – 40 km / h

Despite the fact that Canada is a country of long distances, and the rules of the road here are loyal to drivers, the average speed rarely exceeds 40 km / h.

In addition, here you can turn right to red, having previously passed other road users, you can cross a solid one, if you do not create an emergency on the road, and from any gateway it is possible to turn left, even if you have to cross 6 lanes.

At the same time, there is no chaos on the roads, all road users respect each other.

The most demanded profession is a truck driver.

Rabat as a truck driver in Canada is a dream for many. This profession always requires people, because 90 percent of all cargo in North America is transported by truckers. On average, the driver of a tractor with a semitrailer receives about 75 thousand dollars a year. However, for the employer to pay attention to you, in addition to a driver’s license, you will have to spend a couple of thousand on special courses.

Deer, camel, horse or ostrich meat is sold everywhere.

In addition to regular beef and pork, you can find exotic meat in Canada’s butchers’ shops: ostrich, zebra, whale and even kangaroo.Bison, duck and venison are considered a traditional food in some provinces and are even sold in supermarkets.

Having visited Canada once, you will certainly want to return there. This country is ideal for a comfortable life and diverse in terms of dating. Only here you will find Americans, French and British who pride themselves on being Canadians.

Canada consists of 10 provinces and 3 territories. Each region is endowed with fairly broad powers. The provinces, for example, have their own prime minister and parliament. The only laws common to the whole country are the laws spelled out in the constitution. The territories (northern part of the country) are almost completely subordinate to the federal government and have rather limited autonomy compared to the provinces.

We figured out the territorial division, now I will tell you where it is located, and you yourself will decide where to go first.

By the way, I usually book hotels on Booking – here, to check if the prices are more favorable, follow the link. Alternatively, you can rent an apartment or an apartment directly from the owners, more details here.

British Columbia

Do you love nature, long walks in the woods and mountains, modern architecture and seafood at the same time? Then be sure to visit one of the most scenic regions: British Columbia!

It is worth going to the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve for beaches and surfing, in Whistler resort – behind high mountains and steep snow slopes, in the Great Bear Rainforest and on Haida Gwaii archipelago – for wildlife and wildlife, in the Okanagan Valley – for excellent wine.

The capital of the province of Victoria is famous for the city’s port Inner Harbor, historic buildings, the Royal British Columbia Museum.

But the main entertainment, in my opinion, is whale watching. Every day, you can go for a ride on a small boat from the pier in the city center and observe these amazing creatures.

Vancouver is a unique city with a mild (by Canadian standards) climate. In short, here you will find everything you need for a comfortable life: from beaches and parks to museums and the world’s best restaurants.

Unfortunately, real estate prices allow me to only dream of moving there.

This is one of the most visited regions in Canada.

It’s worth going here to see Niagara Falls, walk the busy streets of Toronto, trek in Bruce Peninsula National Park, canoe at Fathom Five National Marine Park ).

Do you prefer museums? In the capital Ottawa, I recommend visiting the National Gallery of Canada, which exhibits works by Canadian artists such as Alex Colvile or Tom Thomson.

In the largest city in the province of Toronto, hockey fans will especially like it, because there is the famous Hockey hall of fame, or the Hockey Hall of Fame (I told more about it in all colors here).

Nova Scotia

This province is a must-see for golfers, motorcycle enthusiasts and cycling enthusiasts.

Cabot Trail is one of the most picturesque islands in North America, home to the country’s best golf courses, as well as bike and motorcycle trails that stretch for tens of kilometers along the coast.

In the provincial capital, Halifax, there is something to interest fans of colonial history. Here is the military fortress The Halifax Citadel, built in the middle of the 18th century.

It is worth going here to visit the famous Banff National Park. This is a unique nature reserve with a length of over 10 thousand square meters. On its territory there are forests, waterfalls, mountains, glaciers. You can also see wild animals here: bears, moose, beavers and others.

There are other notable natural places here: Moraine Lake, Waterton Lakes National Park, Jasper National Park, Kananaskis Country. For a skiing holiday in Alberta, in my opinion, the Sunshine Village Ski Resort, located in The Canadian Rockies, is worth choosing.

The main city in the province of Calgary is famous for its Calgary Stampede festival, which takes place annually in July.

During the festival, a rodeo with bulls, known throughout Canada, is held.

This French-speaking province will attract connoisseurs of gastronomy and culture.

The best cheese in the country, in my opinion, is produced here. You can try it in one of the cheese shops in Montreal, for example, in La Fromagerie Hamel. The provincial capital also has great shopping (check out Saint Catherine Street), theaters and museums.

Quebec City is famous for its Old Town with buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries. In December, a Christmas market takes place here, where you can buy products from local craftsmen or simply enjoy hot mulled wine with French crepe.

Newfoundland and Labrador

A province (yes, this is the name of one province) with many historical monuments from the time of colonial Canada.

It is worth going here to visit Signal Hill National Historic Site, a small town with original structures from the 18th century.

Or go to L’Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site, where 6 houses were found built by Vikings about a thousand years ago.

Cape Spear Lighthouse is a lighthouse located at the easternmost point of North America, offering stunning ocean views. The Historical Museum is located next to the lighthouse.

Icebergs and whales can be watched from the colonial-style wooden hamlet of Twillingate.

Russian immigrant, favorite in the draft 2022 and 15-year-old super talent. Canada responded to Russia with the most powerful composition at the YChM – Hockey news

We disassemble the main stars of “Maple Leaves”.

There are more than 20 days before the Junior World Championships in Texas, America, but the Canadians have already published their 25-member squad. The last time “Maple Leaves” won gold in the world championship at the U-18 level back in 2013, when 15-year-old Connor McDavid, who became the top scorer and MVP of that tournament, fired and dominated in the pre-Olympic Sochi. Since then, the Canadian national team has never even made it to the final. This year in Frisco and Pleino, Canadians will not have players playing in the American student NCAA and the Quebec junior league, but even without them, the pioneers of hockey will be among the favorites of the upcoming Junior World Cup.Who should you pay special attention to?

Brendt Clark (top 3 contender for the upcoming draft)

Position: defender
Club: Nove Zamky (Slovakia)
Statistics for the 2020 season: 26 matches, 15 (5 + 10) points

What is Canada’s national team without an elite right-handed attacking defender? I am sure that Clark, with his throw and quick hands, will be one of the key players of the Canadians in the majority draw. In almost all ratings, the Ottawa guy is at least in the top 10 of the next draft and is unlikely to fall below.

Until December, Clark patiently waited for the start of the season in the Ontario junior league, but in the end decided not to lose the season and a few days before the New Year drove off to the Slovakian championship, where he consistently plays with the men for Nové Zamky. Now, in terms of points scored among defenders under 20, Clark is second only to Zdeno Hara’s heir Shimon Nemets.

Shane Wright (presumably 1st draft pick in 2022)

Position: center forward
Club: Kingston (OHL)
Statistics for the 2020/21 season: –

Last season, he received exceptional status from the federation, flew into the CHL a year ahead of the rest and became the best CHL rookie, in this one he did not play a single official match due to the senseless and merciless covid protocols in Ontario, which did not allow the season to start in the league. …Wright is a right-handed center with good physics, high hockey IQs, mercury hands and a great throw. But this is hardly a Next One like McDavid. Much more in style, Shane resembles another exceptional talent from Ontario – John Tavares.

It will be interesting to see how he will look at the YUCHM after a long break. While North American peers have found temporary options and are overgrown with meat in the European leagues, and the main competitor in the fight for the first draft pick in 2022 Matthew Savoy plays consistently in the American USHL, Wright decided not to break out of his native province and train according to an individual program.

Brennan Othmann (first round pick 2021)

Position: winger
Club: Olten (Switzerland)
Statistics in the 2020/21 season: 34 matches, 16 (7 + 9) points

Two years ago, in a link with Wright, Othmann mocked his peers in one of the children’s leagues in Ontario for Don Mills (by the way, Clark played with them in the same five). So, most likely, at the YChM they will be used in conjunction. This year, unlike his former team-mate, Brennan acted smartly and left for Switzerland, where he plays consistently for Olten in the second league.A reversible electric broom with good start and distance speeds and good scoring flair, which will be worn all over the court and, if necessary, cleaned up after Wright.

Danny Zhilkin (2nd / 3rd round of the 2022 Draft)

Position: center forward
Club: Gelf Storm (OHL)
Statistics in the 2020/21 season: –

Daniil Borisovich Zhilkin was born and started playing hockey in Moscow, but at the age of six he immigrated with his family to Canada, where his parents opened a construction company with the nostalgic name of Sosna. In Russia, the “Gelf” striker has been on short visits and has played for CSKA and Yantar in several tournaments. Before moving to CHL, Zhilkin went through the elite Toronto Marlboros – a club from the local midget, through which Tavares, Bennett, McDavid, and the Hughes brothers once played. North American scouts do not see a Muscovite in the top 31 draft picks of 2022. But in the second round, it is quite possible for Zhilkin to leave the distributor.

Connor Bedard (will fight Michkov for the first draft in 2023)

Position: Center Forward
Club: Regina Pats (WHL)
Statistics 2020/21: 12 games, 22 (8 + 14) points

Perhaps it is 15-year-old Connor Bedard who is the main star of this team.Another elite center for the NHL and the Canadian national team (where do you need so much, give us a little bit) and another golden boy with an exceptional status. Moreover, Wright helped him to get a VIP pass to the “double” from conservative provincial officials, who had invariably refused all applicants before. Before interviewing people from the federation, Shane briefly told his future teammate what they wanted to hear from him during the video interview, and advised him to look at the camera as often as possible and not look down or to the side, so as not to doubt his willingness to communicate with the press and mental maturity.

At the beginning of the season, Bedard left for Sweden to play for XB-71 for a couple of months, and a little later returned to Canada and now breaks the WHL on the move, gaining 22 (8 + 14) points in 12 matches. Last year, one of the scouts called him “little tank” and suggested that when he grows up, he will resemble Stamkos in build. If you look at Connor’s YouTube clips, it is really very difficult to wipe him off the puck. At the same time, he rarely rushes to push through and seems very nimble on the ice.It is also captivating that he does not play exclusively on clean pucks.

Now the main weapon of the junior from Vancouver is the throw. He brought him to the elite level two years ago, when he broke his right hand, which is considered “lower” among right-handed people and, in fact, an auxiliary hand that does not perform a pushing movement with the wrist. While others would play a console or train their fingers, scrolling through the feed on Instagram, Bedard spent two months intensively pumping his left hand and upper arm.If it were not for another top Connor, Matvey Michkov could already be called the uncontested first draft pick in 2023. The Russian and the Canadian have never met at the same tournament, and it is a pity that at the upcoming Junior World Cup they will be able to go on the ice against each other only in the playoffs.
