Ordered cards with a Groupon, they were above expectations and picking up was quick and easy with polite costumer service representative. I do think as a courtesy they should add additional envelopes as there are often a mistake or two 🤷 but that’s my only recommendation.

Easy to design , good quality, plenty of options and best of all , next day pick up which means NO shipping and handling costs!!!!

Great value for the money! I designed my cards late at night and they were ready by 8:30am! Very happy with this purchase.

Amazing and completely customizable and fast!!!!!!

The people that work at Staples were super helpful and nice so I got through it.
Something that would be helpful to know ahead of time was that you need to set up an account with Staples before being able to purchase the cards with the Groupon.
I did my cards early so I had the time but it can be frustrating.
Thank goodness for the very helpful guys that work there!

Quick service, photos were great.

The cards came out great and were done very fast. Great quality. When I went into the store to make the cards there, the girl , who was very nice, explained everything to me yet told me to go home and do them on my home computer. Since I was already down there, I wanted to just do them there, but she was adamant that I go home and do them from my home computer, so I did. In the end, very happy.

Candidate Profile: Jeff Staples (5th District)

Posted: / Updated:

Jeff Staples is running for Senate, 5th District.

Name: Jeff Staples

Race: Senate, 5th Ddistrict

Party: Independent

Website: Jeff4va.com

Biography: Jeff Staples is a social  and environmental justice activist. He has been active in these areas since before he was old enough to vote.   He is a 1984 Lynchburg College graduate. Staples is employed as an automotive repair professional. He has received awards for his work against pipelines and was a House of Delegates Candidate in 2015 and 2017.  Staples is a life-long Virginia resident, and resides in the Deep Creek section of Chesapeake.

Why should residents elect you to the Virginia Senate?

The short answer is, I want to work for them. I have pledged to not take any corporate money. My opponent, routinely takes hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. I feel that diminishes the amount of effort that a legislator will give to helping people and increase their commitment to the corporate bottom line.

Virginia has now fallen to the bottom in rankings for worker prospects.

More attention needs to be made to repeal the anti-union, so called right to work law. We need a bigger emphasis on getting Virginians better access to health care. Our educational system needs much attention and funding. We need vocational education to train our students for the high tech, clean energy jobs of today and tomorrow. And so much more.

I am willing and ready to focus on these types of needs.

What is the biggest issue facing your district, and how do you plan to address it?

I believe the lack of opportunity within our district, is the biggest problem. Our district  has lost much of the manufacturing, services and retail that it used to provide. There has been a push to get business and services further and further out. The Rt. 17 corridor is a prime example. The 5th District has lots of available land that is already zoned appropriately, has the utilities in place, public transportation and an available work force that needs employment.

I do not understand why there is such a push by our state and local leaders to put industry in the far south, when our district is so much closer to the Port of Virginia and existing interstates and already has all of these available amenities.

What was the most important vote taken in the Virginia General Assembly in 2019, and why?

The Medicaid Expansion vote, because 400,000 low income Virginians finally received access to health care. I believe that healthcare is a human right. This vote was a start, but we have a long way to go to provide for all Virginians. I am willing to fight that fight.

Trumbull stops Staples to earn berth in FCIAC championship

WESTPORT — Facing a potential game-tying two-point conversion with no time left on the clock, Trumbull’s Bryan DeWalt had one job and one job only. Keep the ball out of the end zone by any means necessary.

Thankfully for the Eagles, DeWalt is good at his job.

The senior defensive back, veered away from his assigned man and wiped out Staples quarterback Jack Massie three yards shy of the goal line, preserving Trumbull’s 15-13 victory over the Wreckers Saturday afternoon and clinching a spot in next week’s FCIAC championship game.

“I was playing my man and I turned around looking for the pass,” DeWalt said. “I saw the QB running up and I knew failure was not an option. I had to take him out.”

That Staples even had the chance to go for the tie had to be a shock to the Eagles.

The Wreckers got the ball for the final time with 1:50 left in the game and no timeouts left, having completed a grand total of 1 pass for 14 yards to that point.

With the freshman Massie at the helm, three completed passes moved the Wreckers into Trumbull territory with 32 seconds left. The big play was a 45-yard completion to Jason Mawicke, who shrugged off two Trumbull tacklers before being corralled at the Eagles 22.

A roughing the passer penalty moved the ball to the 11, but three straight incompletions left Staples with a fourth down and only two seconds on the clock.

Massie lofted a pass to the back corner of the end zone, that Mawicke was somehow able to haul in, while keeping a toe in bounds, setting the stage for the game-deciding two-point try.

“I was counting on my secondary there, but we had a little mishap, no big deal,” Don Cherry, one of Trumbull’s many heroes said. “Mawicke’s a great player and he made a great play, but we came back and stopped the two-point conversion. Bryan DeWalt always comes up with the big hits.”

After a first half that saw Staples score on its first drive and ended 7-0, the field started to tilt the Eagles way in the second half.

Trumbull coach Bob Maffei inserted Ian Milne into the lineup at quarterback to start the second half, after Brian Gallo had taken the majority of the first-half snaps.

Milne promptly led the Eagles on a drive deep into Staples territory. Facing a third-and-one from the Staples seven, Milne slashed his way towards the end zone, but lost control of the ball as he extended his arms for the goal line. The ball was pounced on by Staples for a touchback, thwarting Trumbull’s first and best chance of the day.

Undaunted, the Trumbull defense pushed the Wreckers backwards, forcing them to punt from their own end zone. Mawicke’s punt went off the side of his foot and out of bounds at the Staples 24.

Four plays later Cherry swept into the end zone from nine yards out to make it 7-6. The extra point try by Anthony Matera missed badly, low and to the left and the score remained 7-6 with 4:01 left in the third quarter.

The two teams exchanged punts, with Trumbull’s punt coming on the first play of the fourth quarter.

On Staples first play from scrimmage after the punt, Nick Kelly lost control of a handoff and the loose ball was recovered by Trumbull’s Ryan Monaco at the Staples 21.

Milne’s scrambled into the end zone from 10-yards out four plays later, putting the Eagles into the lead for the first time, 12-7, with 10:30 left in the game. The two-point try failed, as Milne’s pass fell incomplete in a crowded end zone.

Trumbull’s defense continued their second half shutdown by forcing another quick punt, giving the offense the ball back at their own 37 with 9:22 on the clock.

Seven straight runs, the longest a 32-yarder by Cherry, left Trumbull with a fourth-and-six at the Staples 15 and 5:12 remaining in the game.

Maffei did not hesitate sending Matera out for his first field goal attempt of the year and the senior kicker justified his coach’s faith by drilling a 32-yarder between the uprights for a 15-7 lead.

“I just want to thank the coaches for giving me the chance after missing that first one,” Matera said. “I was confident. The extra point, I just forgot about it and moved on. They believed in me and I appreciate that.”

The Wreckers first loss of the year knocks them out of contention for the league title, but a win against Greenwich on Thanksgiving should get them into the CIAC Class LL state tournament.

“They took advantage of our mistakes today,” Staples coach Marce Petroccio said. “We had a lot of trouble stopping them, but it was a heck of a football game and we have nothing to be ashamed of. We just have to regroup and get ready for Greenwich.”

For Trumbull, the win earns them the right to battle Darien for the FCIAC championship and moves them way up the charts in the Class LL standings, all the way up to third.

“We’ve been talking about it all week,” Cherry said. “We’ve got to steer the ship into port. We had to get to the FCIAC championship and we got it. Here we go.”

NOTES: Staples dropped to eighth in the Class LL standings withe loss. Eight teams make the state tournament.

New Woodmere Stop & Shop is open  | Herald Community Newspapers

The aisles are wide, the lighting is bright and  freshness abounds with the grand opening of the new 67,000-square-foot Stop & Shop supermarket at 253-01 Rockaway Blvd., in the Five Towns Shopping Center on Oct. 30, and listed as the Woodmere store by Stop & Shop officials.

A kosher produce area leads into the two-sided kosher food aisle that includes dairy, frozen, grocery and meat items and wraps around to the fish area. Among the 2,000 kosher items, half are new, according to Stop & Shop spokeswoman Stefanie Shuman, including the hard-to-get Sprinkles line of frozen treats.

Stop & Shop shoppers will recognize the familiar produce, bakery and deli departments that include twists such as a flatbread pizza station, the first on Long Island and among only a handful of all the supermarket franchise’s more than 400 stores. There is also a sushi made fresh in-story daily and a hot foods bar, all made for grab and go meal. “You can take it on the go or have it baked here,” Shuman said about the pizza, “it’s all assembled here.” The pizza and sushi non-kosher.

Beer aficionados will find the expansive area full of their favorite beverage including local brews such as Greenport Harbor, Montauk and offerings from the Port Jeff Brewing Company. Store manager Artur Alchasov noted that there are mix and match selections to create an individual six pack. There are also many others items from local vendors from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, he added.

For the convenience of customers, the new store also offers online shopping with orders being placed at stopandshop.com and pick up from outside the building that was formerly a Kmart department store and in-store the price guns are available to scan items as you shop. Along with the traditional checkout areas there are several self-checkout machines.

The Woodmere store is the first of what Stop & Shop officials called “remodels” of several Nassau County stores that dovetails with the supermarket company’s remodeling of 21 Stop & Shops in Suffolk County. Later this year stores in Glen Cove, Huntington, Port Washington and West Babylon are receiving makeover and others are to be “refreshed” in 2021. Stop & Shop in Inwood in the Burnside Commons closed on Oct. 29. It is unknown at this time if any other supermarket will take its place.

It’s very exciting and it’s all about teamwork,” Alchasov said about opening a new store. “I was looking forward to this as all the hard work came to fruition.

As part of the grand opening, Stop & Shop donated $1,000 and $500 of Nature’s Promise natural organic products to the Marion & Aaron Gural JCC, which runs a kosher food pantry in Cedarhurst.

“Stop & Shop is providing an amazing selection of kosher products, that will be so important to Jewish consumers throughout the greater Five Towns,” said Stacey Feldman, associate executive director of the Gural JCC. “Stop & Shop has been a longtime supporter of the Rina Shkolnik Kosher Food Pantry. Their ongoing support for the work we do underscores their commitment to the Five Towns. They truly understand the role that a corporate citizen can play in improving and enhancing the lives of its neighbors.”

Spider Intervention – Hitkiller.com – killing soundz of music

12/20/2011 Blog

At the end of November, Dave Lombardo tweeted that SLAYER was writing new material with might and main and preparing for an active concert in 2012. Well, guitarist Jeff Hanneman, who all year long remembered the arthropod squad with an unkind word, but already seemed to be well enough for studio work, told the British magazine Classic Rock a terrible medical story about how a spider killed me.

One day, while basking in a warm bath with a beer in his hand, Jeff felt that someone had snatched him … and very quickly realized that it was the seams.I called an ambulance. “On the way to the hospital, I saw the flesh decompose,” he recalls. – The hand just burned. I went to the emergency room, and luckily for me, the nurse knew immediately what had happened. Such things do not happen often, but she recently came across a similar patient. At that moment I was on the verge of death. ” Insect venom has caused necrotizing fasciitis (a severe and rapidly progressive soft tissue infection; the prospect of death is about 76%, and amputation of the affected limb is in most cases the only option.)

“Incredibly, the doctor turned out to be a fan of SLAYER,” Hanneman said, “and he greeted me like this:“ I’ll save your life first. Then I will save your hand. Then I’ll save your career. ” And, to the doctor’s credit, he did not lie. He managed to save not only the life, honor and hand of the guitarist, but even to leave the muscles and tendons intact with the scalpel. Although before recovery, of course, it was still oh, how far away. It seems that Jeff, who has ceased to love baths and beer, was waiting for many months for skin grafts, massive antibiotics, healing and suffering . .. “I had to learn to walk again,” the musician recalls, “I did not get out of bed for a month and was very weak. The skin grafting process was extremely painful. ” Almost a year has passed since the ill-fated bite – and only now, having gone through pain, hospital wards and rehabilitation therapy, Hanneman is able to talk about his illness with sarcasm. “This story would make a good song,” he says, “evil enough, because this year I have collected all possible troubles on my head. But, thank Satan, he got out. The horned devil did insure me. ” (Although, I’m sure, after a couple of years, Mustaine will kick himself in the chest, that the devil is not at all involved.)

The truth is in wine or why this fall we need to understand sparkling wine

What is the difference between rosé and orange wine? How is port made these days and, after all, how to distinguish good from bad wine only by the label? There is an answer to these and many other questions!

Oleg Kravchenko, one of the best sommeliers in Ukraine and co-owner of WINBAR, held a presentation of his author’s wine course WINE UP in the INVERIA event space, within which he recommended a list of wines that are relevant for the fall.

This time of year, you can safely start with sparkling wines such as rosé Cava or white Franciacorta. Since it’s still warm, a pink Pinot Grigio Blush or a slightly rich Sancerre, from the Loire Valley, France, will work great in this case. Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc are preferred white wines.

White fruits can be used in combination with them. Pinot noir is a great option for red wine lovers with a delicate strawberry or strawberry aroma.Do not forget about Merlot, Bordeux, Toscano – the northern part of Italy, Friuli – perfect.

Latest News

Baked fish, salads with seafood and white meat go well with them. Fans of red should not forget about Bordeaux and Tuscany, as well as the north of Italy-Piedmont, Friuli. Don’t forget about the islands – Nero d’Avola from Sicily and Canonau from Sardinia. Spanish Rioja will come in handy as never before, – continues Oleg Kravchenko.

What is the WINEUP course?

This is a joint project of Oleg Kravchenko and the INVERIUM intellectual and educational lecture hall. This course is a good start into the world of wine and a great opportunity to understand how a simple wine drink differs from a “perfect red” one. Understand why the difference between them is fundamental and what it consists of.

The head and inspirer of INVERIA Inna Semilinskaya shared with the guests the news about INVERIA’s transformation and new opportunities for business and intellectual development, and talked about what surprises await the INVERIUM audience in the new season.

WINE UP Wine Course is a great opportunity to understand the mosaic of wine gastronomy and a great start for planning wine tours around the world.Want to know more, follow the link right now!

90,000 US leaves Russia far behind

American billionaire Jeff Bezos is serious about returning Americans to the moon. Now he has presented his new brainchild – the Blue Moon spacecraft.

Nobody in space will know about your billions

Jeff Bezos is a man of the era. No, it would be more correct to say that he is a man-era. In 1994, a little-known entrepreneur founded the Amazon online store.com, which traded in books. Soon it will be possible to order audio and video products for every taste and color. And much more. Careful attention to competitors has led to Amazon now being the largest e-commerce market and cloud computing platform worldwide. And Bezos’ fortune was estimated by Forbes in 2018 at $ 135 billion: thus, the founder of Amazon is the richest man on the planet.

At the same time, the romance of space flights is not alien to Jeff Bezos.Back in 2000, he founded the private aerospace Blue Origin, which is now in full swing testing the suborbital tourist complex (reusable rocket + ship) New Shepard, and in the foreseeable future the company wants to build a heavy space rocket New Glenn that can challenge Elon Musk himself. …

In general, the analogy with the most famous inventor of our time suggests itself. Moreover, they are not averse to “pin up” each other.

My friend who wants to go to Mars? Do me a favor: try living on the top of Everest for at least a year to start, and see if you like it.Everest is a Garden of Eden compared to Mars,

– Jeff Bezos reacted to Musk’s Martian ambitions.

In this case, in fact, Musk and Bezos are completely different people. And their approaches to work differ. SpaceX got off to a good low start, but don’t discount Blue Origin. Now Elon is compared to a hare, and Jeff Bezos is compared to a turtle. And as it was with the heroes of the famous short animated film, the first one may be out of work. SpaceX companies in general often reproach excessive ambition and senseless spending, and the desire to be the first often ends in accidents, such as in the case of the Dragon 2 spacecraft. We recall that he recently exploded during tests.

We can repeat

But let’s get down to business. As we know, SpaceX is focusing on Mars, where the company plans to transport colonists on its Starship. Bezos has more modest plans, and he does not hide it. The creator of Amazon is not against flying to the Red Planet, but first wants to put all his efforts to save the Earth and explore the Moon, which is incomparably closer to the distant cold Mars.

In May, Blue Origin held a press conference in Washington DC to share with the world new details of a massive plan to colonize the Moon. The main novelty was the presentation of the Blue Moon lunar landing module concept, which the company has been developing since 2016. A mock-up of the device was demonstrated, which in a cargo configuration will be able to transport up to 3.6 tons of cargo to the satellite of our planet. Another option, more carrying capacity, will be able to deliver up to 6.5 tons to the moon. Finally, the manned version will deliver astronauts, performing roughly the same function that the Apollo spacecraft once performed, on which the Americans landed on Earth’s satellite six times. At the heart of the Blue Origin concept is the innovative BE-7 jet engine, which is being developed specifically for Blue Moon. It will use liquid oxygen and hydrogen as fuel, developing a thrust of up to 40 kilonewtons. In the manufacture of BE-7, they intend to widely use three-dimensional printing. Blue Origin intends to conduct the first fire tests this summer.

Here it is worth digressing a little and recalling that Bezos’s company, oddly enough, has vast experience in the development of rocket engines. The company has already built and tested the revolutionary BE-4 in many ways, which they want to use for several future American missiles at once: the aforementioned New Glenn and Vulcan. A distinctive feature of the engine is the use of liquefied natural gas as a fuel. In theory, this will make it possible to create a reliable and relatively inexpensive engine to use, which, unambiguously, adds the chances of the successful implementation of the plan and within the framework of the new Bezos project.

At the same time, both BE-7 and the entire Blue Moon complex are part of a much more ambitious plan.

We decided to use liquid hydrogen for the simple reason that, ultimately, it will be possible to extract it directly from water ice and refuel vehicles directly on the lunar surface. It’s time to go back to the moon. This time to stay,

– said Jeff Bezos at the conference.

Journalists also drew attention to the fact that the Blue Moon concept can also be considered in the context of Donald Trump’s intentions to return astronauts to the Moon, making this the merit of the current government. Now, Blue Origin names 2024 as the estimated date for a manned flight to the moon, which is in line with the plans previously announced by the White House. Back in 2017, Donald Trump signed “Directive No. 1”, which involves the return of the United States to the satellite of our planet, and they want to do this (they did not say this directly, but de facto it is) by “cutting back” Martian ambitions, which are now shifted indefinitely.

Races on spaceships

However, so far it is not worth equating NASA’s “lunar” ambitions with the Blue Moon project, because the US space agency has long linked deep space exploration, first of all, with the new super-heavy rocket Space Launch System and the spacecraft “Orion”, which are also considered in the context of the creation of the lunar orbital station Lunar Orbital Platform-Gateway. That is, it may turn out that NASA will be out of the way with either SpaceX (and its semi-fantastic ideas) or Blue Origin (and its Blue Moon). Only time will tell which of these projects really deserves to become a tool for human exploration of the Moon.

At the same time, do not worry too much about the Americans. Other countries, including Russia and China, can only dream of the possibilities that NASA or private traders have. One example: Europe still does not have its own manned spaceships at all and it is not known when they will appear.

Russian specialists, on the other hand, reacted to the Bezos project in their usual manner, by voicing plans for the distant future. In any case, RIA Novosti, citing an informed source, said the other day that the engineers of the Lavochkin NPO are considering the possibility of creating duplicates of the Luna-26 and Luna-27 research vehicles under the name Luna-26/1 and Luna-27 /one”. They may appear after 2030. In practice, we will probably have another version of the “fable” about launching the “Science” module or bringing the “Angara” to a working state. 90,000 Come out if you haven’t inserted! / / Nezavisimaya gazeta

On Monday, November 21, in the Project OGI club, poet Andrei Rodionov presented his book “Portrait from Life”, published in “Ultra.Kultura” (new verses mixed with old ones), and the music group “Okraina “, the first concert of which was the presentation.

Rodionov is a popular, fashionable and in-demand figure. “In his own years” the author of three already books, which allowed the poet Vsevolod Emelin to notice that in his old age, at such a rate, Rodionov risks growing up to the chairman of the Union of Writers (galactic). The Okraina group is Rodionov with poetic lyrics, guitarists Jeff (aka Igor Zhevtun from Civil Defense) and Timur (Chernozem) and Vladimir Nikritin (also, by the way, a poet) on drums.

Texts to the music of “Okraina” Rodionov did not sing, but nevertheless read, growled and shouted, sometimes consulting his own collection or manuscripts. An energetic recitative, with a hint of rap, did not always coincide with the arrangements, but when it did, the impression remained strong. The unity of music and text has not yet been fully revealed, perhaps because the poems were written earlier, before and outside of Okraina, they themselves are complexly organized rhythmically and intonationally, and in general, in my opinion, are self-sufficient.For now, the audio sequence rather clarifies the wide (including musical) context of the poet’s work: from Mike Naumenko or Evgeny Golovin (his motives were unmistakably captured by Rodionov, the poet and writer Arkady Rovner sitting next to me) to Pyotr Mamonov, whose latest programs are being built according to the same principle of reading a poetic text to minimalist, albeit cunning, music.

During a break between the musical parts of the performance, Rodionov summoned Vsevolod Emelin, the already mentioned friend-poet, to the stage. His foolish, before crying, in all senses “outskirts” lyrics (“Loneliness”, “13th Port”, “Another Song”) led the audience almost into a stupor, and the famous “Lullaby of the Poor” and did sound in tense silence . .. And then the stage was again captured by Okraina.

The themes of the texts chosen by the Rodionovs to be performed to music are quite varied. Here are old things about “monsters from a distant planet”, the epic of sleeping areas (“Once upon a time Nikolai, a trader in” Zhitan “…”), brutal stories about “strangely dressed dudes frozen then, in ninety-third”, or about a scandal in a convenience store (“Normal People”), a mystical ballad in “Scottish style” about the enchantment of “elven booze” and subtle lyrics, indeed, from the outskirts of life: “If my wife told me: /” My dear, my dear, / Appeared hope to get drunk “, – / I would have ended my journey with suicide… “

Finished, however, rather for health: “On the green line there is such a rule – get out of the car, if you have not inserted!”

Jeff Monson became a deputy of Krasnogorsk near Moscow

The famous American mixed martial arts fighter Jeff Monson, who received Russian citizenship some time ago, was elected to the council of deputies of the city of Krasnogorsk in the Moscow region.

Jeff Monson , who on September 10 became a member of the city council of deputies of Krasnogorsk, running for United Russia, shared his immediate plans. He said that, first of all, as an MP, he intends to focus on such issues as extracurricular curricula for school students and recycling and disposal of garbage.
