Here are the best things to buy at Staples
For most people, Staples is the first place they think of when they consider shopping for office décor. From top-rated office chairs to paper shredders and so much more, this retailer makes it easy to bring your home office up a notch or even give a full office a complete makeover.
While Staples hours might vary depending on location, one thing that’s open 24/7 is the retailer’s online store, and you can buy virtually anything you need from it (yes, even toilet paper) whenever you want. The Staples return policy can vary—office supplies can be returned at any time, but furniture and some other specially marked items only have a 14-day window for returns—but one thing that’s great about this retailer is that the process is straightforward, regardless of whether you purchased online or in stores.
Below are some of the best things you definitely want to consider purchasing at Staples, especially if you’re trying to make your work area more comfortable.
1. Office chairs

Lean back, relax, and get the support you need.
Staples office chairs are hugely popular among shoppers who are searching for function and affordability, and while you can’t grab all our favorite office chairs from the retailer, you can get the cult-favorite FlexFit Hyken mesh task chair, which Executive Editor Kate Ellsworth swears by. “This office chair is one of the comfier ones I’ve tried,” says Kate. Among its merits? It doesn’t leave her feeling sore after an 8-hour work day, and because this 4.5-star rated pick is fully adjustable and reclines, she’s able to shift throughout the day, so she’s not stuck in the same position continuously. But perhaps best of all, Kate reveals that she’s able to share the chair with her husband—who is 6 feet tall—and it’s easy to move it around her office, because it’s so lightweight. Nearly 9,000 Staples shoppers love it, too, which is all the more reason to give it a gander.
2. Office supplies

You can shop for pens, markers, and more at Staples.
Shopping for Staples office supplies is one of the best parts of hitting up this retailer. You can find virtually anything you need to keep your professional or home workspace up and running, including writing supplies, folders, desk accessories, and more. So whether you’re looking for top-rated pens or you just need to stock up on envelopes or get a new stapler, Staples is a one-stop shop for all of it.

The right desk can make your home office feel more complete.
With a Staples desk, you’re not just getting a budget-friendly selection for your home office—you’re also getting a desk that, if you segment your search by customer ratings, comes highly recommended by like-minded shoppers. One of the most popular desks on the site is the 4-star rated Bush Furniture Somerset office desk, which nearly 1,200 shoppers insist is a fabulous option if you’re looking for something durable yet also easy to assemble. You can get matching office furniture if you shop this line, as well, which is another reason to consider it, although Staples has a plethora of reasonably priced desks to choose from.
4. Toilet paper
Credit: Getty Images/iStockphoto
It may seem surprising, but you can grab essentials like toilet paper.
Forget panic-buying—even during the worst moments of the pandemic, Staples toilet paper was consistently available, which makes this retailer a surprisingly great place to shop when you need paper stock. Whether you’re trying to buy in bulk for an office or you’re grabbing some ultra-soft Charmin for home use, this store can help you stock up and stay prepared, no matter what.

5. Printing Services

Staples is a great place to make copies and more.
If you’re looking for quick turnaround times, Staples printing services are an excellent resource and one of the best things the retailer offers. From business cards to photo printing, Staples offers a wide variety of products under this service banner, and while it might seem unlikely, you can get professional-quality from these prints, tantamount to if you were using any of the other best online printing services. You can also get free delivery on orders of $49.99 or more and choose from same-day printing options or curbside pickup, which makes it remarkably convenient.

6. Cleaning supplies

At Staples, Clorox wipes and other cleaning supplies are easy to find.
At Staples, hand sanitizer and Clorox wipes were consistently available during the pandemic—so much so that the retailer became one of the most reliable places we recommended shoppers look for these essential household cleaning supplies, as other big-name retailers like Amazon and Walmart were frequently sold out. You can also grab cleaning gloves and top-rated masks here, so while you’re still trying to be mindful of COVID safety, Staples is a solid place to grab all your most important products.

Find your perfect laptop at Staples.
On the hunt for the best laptops right now? Don’t forget about Staples. While this retailer has a reputation for offering the best office chairs and desks, the inventory of computers—and specifically, top-rated models from leading brands like HP, Lenovo, Asus, and others—is spectacular. For instance, you can get one of our favorite laptops under $500, the Lenovo Ideapad 3 (81WE001RUS), at the store. In testing, we enjoyed this device for its comfortable keyboard and good overall performance for the price point. In addition, Staples frequently runs sales on these devices, so you can usually find something great while staying within your budget.
8. Gaming chairs

Looking for a gaming chair? Staples has you covered.
When it comes to the best gaming chairs, the AKRacing Core Series EX is our favorite and you can buy it directly from Staples. In testing, we loved the steel-frame construction on this 5-star rated pick, as well as its comfortable, fully adjustable feel. The one downside to the AKRacing Core Series—besides the fact that the fabric gets a little warm—is that it’s expensive, but you can also find plenty of top-rated, affordable selections if you peruse the whole Staples gaming chairs section of the site, too.
9. Paper shredders
Credit: Getty Images/iStockphoto
The best paper shredder can help you maintain privacy.
Our world is growing ever-more digital, but the importance of a really good paper shredder still can’t be understated. You can buy several of our favorite models, like the TRU RED Micro-Cut Shredder, at Staples, which is a big reason why the retailer is a great place to shop if that’s what you’re after. More than 700 customers at the store love the TRU RED, which also has a 4.5-star rating on the site. In our testing, we found it to be simple to use and clean, and loved that it shreds continuously and makes tiny shreds as it does so. You can shop this model and other durable Staples paper shredders if you head to the site directly.
10. Filing cabinets
Credit: Getty Images
Sort all your essential documents in one place with the right filing cabinet.
Chances are, you could use an extra place to store and organize all your most important documents, whether you’re working from home or in an office setting. Fortunately, Staples is a great place to go, as the retailer offers a number of choices, and you can search by intended use, the number of drawers you want, and other requirements. For instance, you could pick up one of the most popular filing cabinets, the 4-star rated Office Designs 2-drawer vertical file cabinet. More than 1,000 Staples shoppers enjoy this simple yet highly functional model, which features a sleek baked-enamel finish, for long-term versatility and durability.

If you’re moving, you can pick up plenty of boxes at Staples.
Staples’ boxes come in handy for more than just office use—whether you’re moving into a new house or trying to ship a package, these cardboard boxes are an affordable option and they’re easy to find if you head to stores directly. Another perk is that you can choose from an assortment of sizes, so you’re certain to find the right one to meet your needs.

Whether it’s for personal or office use, printers are easy to find at Staples.
From HP printers to all-in-one printers and more, Staples is the first place that many shoppers think of when they’re trying to find a new one. While the retailer has a ton of cheap, top-rated options, you can actually find some of the best printers we’ve ever tested there, too. For example, you can get the 4-star rated HP Officejet Pro 8035, which is our favorite overall. In testing, we found this device easy to use and capable of delivering solid text and photo printing across any weight paper. More than 300 reviewers on the site give it a thumbs up, lauding it’s consistent performance and app-compatibility, too.

Get Items You Use Everyday for FREE at Staples – Sarah Titus
Years ago, I used to get free samples all the time. You input your whole life story and in exchange, the company sends you a free sample. While that’s all good and fine, it seemed like to me, I either never used the samples or I liked them and ended up having to buy a full size product.
So, it became clear to me…why not just get the full size products of the brands I use for free in the beginning. This would save me time and give me more privacy with filling out those forms for free samples.
So began my quest…
A challenge I’ve become very good at over the years. The trick to living the good life on less is not spending money on things most people buy. I get a lot of my products for free! You can see my article on how I get all my household goods and children’s supplies for free (without using coupons) as well by clicking here.
Staples is definitely no exception on the free boat, but it’s not JUST about getting items for free. It’s also about quality, my main objective in saving money.
In addition to having great prices, good sales, quality merchandise, a fantastic ink program, did I mention Staples free stuff (?!), the stores are also clean, the checkers are friendly and it’s always an overall great experience. They never hassle with returns, even when it’s past the date. This tells me they care more about their customers than money, making them one of my top 5 brands I love the most!
Get Items You Use Everyday for FREE at Staples
Step 1: Start Saving All Your Empty Ink Cartridges for Staples Ink Recycling Program
One of Staples offers is they pay you $2 per cartridge, limit 10 per month. You can sign up online to get your rewards emailed to you (faster than snail mail). Print them out and use them in the store or online.
So, if you’re using ink at your place of employment and its okay with your boss, don’t throw away the empty cartridges. Save what you use at home. You can even ask friends to save your ink cartridges for you as well.
It’s great to recycle, even more so, when your PAID to do it. So, every month, I get my $20 that I get to spend in the store on ANYTHING I want. Add $240/year to my resume of creating resources while being able to stay at home!
When your turning in your ink cartridges, you can go to any checkout lane and turn them in. They will ask for your reward card. This is most important.
Step 2: Sign Up for a Staples Rewards Card
You will want to have a rewards card to keep track of all your purchases and earn your money (if you ever need to do a return and don’t have your receipt, the rewards card will help!). Sign up here.
When your creating your online account (either through your first order on their site or the rewards card), there’s a check box your going to want to select. It’ll say something like, receive promotional emails, blah, blah. Make sure to select that.
Step 3: Sign Up for Staples Promotional Emails
You most certainly want those emails. On occasion they send out things that are not relevant to me, but overall, the good far outweighs the bad. WHY? Because in those emails you, and you alone, will have access to all the BEST coupons.
This is where it gets interesting!
I’ve been doing this for a few years now and I can pretty much time it. Every 2 months on average, they will send you out a FABULOUS coupon. It may be $5 off $10 purchase, $10 off $25. Those are awesome coupons and guess what, you CAN use them in the same purchase as your rewards for turning in the ink.
Step 4: Use Coupons and Then Stack Them
Using 2 or more coupons in the same purchase is called stacking coupons.
Lets say, for example, you want to purchase two new ink cartridges. The new ink cartridge costs $23.99 each ($47.98 total). You have a $20 off $50 coupon and your rewards for $20. You will want to add something small to your basket to get your total to the $50 thresh hold. Maybe its a pack of paper, $3.99.
So, your new total is $51.97. You hand over your rewards card, they scan it, next give them your coupons, one at a time. They scan your $20 off $50. Your total is down to $31.97. They scan your $20 rewards check and your down to $11.97. $12 for $52 in items. That’s a savings of 77% off retail! But wait, it gets totally better!
Step 5: Use Staples Rebates
Every week or two, Staples has products FAR (free after rebate), which are essentially like free gifts from Staples. The only trick is that you have to make 100% sure the product your buying is the product in the ad. If you’re not sure, ask. The employees are always more than happy to oblige. So, this is how I get my printer paper free. I NEVER pay for printer paper. In fact, at the moment I write this, I have TWO FULL cases of paper in the garage! They give out paper a LOT. Every time they do, you can score 2 of them. So, lets use another scenario.
You want to buy 1 ink cartridge. They are $19.99. You also want to purchase some paper towels. Their regular price is, by far, cheaper than anywhere else, even Walmart (yes I said it, Walmart is rarely cheaper than other places, but I’ll tell you about that later 🙂 ). But this week that I write this, Staples has their Bounty Basic paper towels on SALE for $6.99 for 12 rolls!!!!! That’s like 58 cents a roll!
This week, you also have a $10 off $20 break room supplies coupon! So, you can buy two paper towel packages and something else inexpensive to meet that thresh-hold or 3 paper towel packages and stock up for the whole year! I like to use Mr. Clean Magic Erasers. Those are part of the break room supplies.
If you want to go online to play around with some things and see your total before going to the store, that’s a great idea. I actually order everything online and they bring it to my door because once you hit a certain amount in spending on your rewards card, they start bumping you up levels. Each level is increased perks!
Throw in your two FAR printer paper packs (regular price $5.99). You also have your rewards check for $20.
So, before coupons, your total looks like this: $19.99+$6.99+$6.99 +$6.99 +$5.99 + $5.99= $52.94. Use your $10 off $20 break room coupon and use your rewards check of $20 and your new total is: $22.94 and as soon as you go home and enter the info online for the FAR printer paper, your new total is: $10.96 for 1 ink, 2 papers, and 3-12 packs of paper towel. I don’t know where else you can go and get all that for $11!
Now, it gets better.
Yes, it REALLY does! This is why I love Staples so much!
Step 6: Add Up Your Savings
Every single purchase you make, you earn a % back on. At this time, its 5%. So, you paid $52.94 and they do minus out the break room coupon you used in the previous example, so $42.94. They will go by THAT amount. They don’t count your FAR, they don’t count your rewards checks! So, you just made $2.14 on that purchase in rewards to be added to your next rewards. So, you brought your total down THIS time from $10.96 to $8.82 for 2 printer paper packs, 1 ink, and 3-12 paper towel packs. $9!
By now, you should know what I’m going to say….it gets better! I kid you not!
Step 7: Always Use Double Rewards on Ink
I bet you’re wondering when you turn in your ink. Every 2-3 months, Staples does a promotion where they give you DOUBLE the rewards back when you turn in ink and purchase $50 in ink. So, I go to the store, and yes, I stack EVERYTHING from the previous example (so not typing that all out again! lol).
You simply add $30.01 more in ink and turn in your old empty cartridges at the same time (in the SAME transaction!!) You are earning $4 per ink cartridge instead of $2. Limit 5 usually. So, I turn in my 10 cartridges and I have $30 now instead of $20 rewards coming back to me!
Can it possibly get any better? YES! Yes, it can!
On top of all of that, I also have a $20 off $50 printer ink coupon. Again, they all can stack as long as I meet those thresh holds.
Can you see now the possibilities of walking out of the store with bags of free stuff and the cops NOT being called on you! I’ve been doing this for about 2 years now and I’ve never had any problems.
Step 8: Use Coupon Sites
A while back, there was a promotion going on Recycle Bank where I cashed in 300 points for a $25 off $50 Staples coupon! I cashed out quite a few of those coupons! It’s really easy to earn points with them too! Click here to check them out. They always have great coupons that I like to use. I just cashed one out for Bed, Bath, and Beyond. $5 off $10 purchase!
Step 9: Use Rewards Sites
On your Staples online purchases, simply go to Ebates FIRST and click-through to earn 2% off your total purchase at Staples. As you can see, your earnings can add up. Your $8.82 total easily becomes $0.00 when you’re applying all these methods! I’m not just talking chump change with Ebates either. My Ebates account currently has $1,943.33 in it.
It adds up fast! In addition to that cash back, I use my Paypal debit card and I get cash back on that card as well. I get the savings coming, going, and everywhere in between and you can too if you spend smart!!!!
Checklist to saving the most money at Staples:
- Save your empty ink cartridges

90,000 Shopping on Alibaba from A to Z
One of the biggest challenges in starting my business was finding a product.
I had dreams. I had a passion. But I really had nothing to sell.
Here are my thoughts:
• How do I find a product to sell at all?
• What are others selling?
• Will I fail?
• Will I get lucky?
I had no idea. And soon I began to realize that this is normal.
Fear is good.
Fear is what made me act. This is what prompted me to search more actively. This is what brought me to the present day, a year later – when I can already tell how I did it, and how you can.
1. Do market research to find a product to sell.
I have done some research on products that sell well on the Internet and also wondered if I could find a product that would help solve any problem I face during the day as a dog owner, athlete, urban resident and traveler.
Using Google Trends, I was able to determine the volume of search queries and identify interest in a number of different products.
Google Trends is often a great tool to understand if an item is trending and therefore in demand.
And one day this light “worked”.
As an avid music aficionado who attends concerts and music festivals, I noticed a need for lighter, more compact bags that could fit basic items:
• Water bottle.
Safety regulations do not allow the use of larger backpacks and bags.
Participants of the festivals were left without attention. However, where there is a problem, there is an opportunity to do something better. I figured I could fix it. I can suggest a solution.
I decided to start my own brand of bags and waist packs: Who’s Your Fanny.
I decided in advance that my business would have its own trademark and decided to sell my products on Amazon.
2. Test your idea.
Excellent. I have an idea. A start.
Now that I had an idea that resonated in me, I needed to verify that the idea was really worthwhile.
Moreover, I needed to confirm that if this is really a pressing problem, then I can solve it.
It was very important for me to hear the opinion of potential customers.
So, I asked:
• Friends (and friends of friends).
• Random people on the Internet.
• Google, and assessed the trends in the volume of search queries (in the Russian context, this item is even easier to accomplish using Yandex.Wordstat. The fact is that due to privacy laws, Google trends only shows how popular a query is on the Internet, for example, “belt bags “, while Yandex.Wordstat shows the exact number of requests per month).
I have asked questions such as:
• What needs do you have.
• What bags have you purchased in the past.
• How much you paid.
• How much are you willing to pay, etc.
I checked Google Trends again. It was obvious that waist bags (or “banana” bags, sling bags, waist bags – whatever they call them) were gaining more and more popularity.
My “mini focus groups” were verbose. I couldn’t even imagine that people are so excited about what they have to wear their things in.
So, I determined what each belt bag should have.
I quickly highlighted the requirements of the target customers:
1. Multiple pockets. Partitions are required.
2. An adjustable strap is key.
3. Some preferred a low price; others are beautiful designs.
4. Amazon was the place where product searches often began.
5. Boys and girls have different tastes.
I took everything into account.
• I had a product.
• A product that customers will be interested in.
• My focus group can be my first clients.
But I still had no idea how I was going to supply these magic belt bags. How to find a supplier or manufacturer…
3. Find the best sourcing method for your product.
I decided that when choosing, I would focus on the option that best meets the following criteria:
• Deliveries should be simple.
• The cost of goods sold must be low to ensure a good profit.
• Products must be tested, reliable and of high quality.
• A manufacturer must be able to grow in order to grow with my business.
Criteria for choosing a sourcing method
Doing business often means that you have 99 problems on any given day, and I really don’t want sourcing to be one of them. I wanted to make sure everything was working smoothly for me so that I could focus on my day-to-day work.
In general, the approach I used to determine the easiest sourcing option often ended up with whether I could find my ideal product at all.
My criteria for the product were as follows:
• Is the product lightweight and easy to ship?
• Is the unit price of the product low enough to have a solid margin?
• Does the product have health risks? No food, dietary supplements or cosmetics.
• I wanted to learn and use my product before anyone else: and I had it as a regular participant in festivals.
• Product Market Confirmed: My Mini Focus Group confirmed this.
• Easy Sourcing Confirmed: The options were obvious to me – now I had to resolve this issue (spoiler: Alibaba).
4. Solve the sourcing issue.
There are several different ways to find a supplier, and now my business works with different factories, but I started with finding suppliers on Alibaba.
Have you invented a product in-house? We tell you how to get money for its launch
In Western companies, top and middle managers know how to think through a value proposition, present an idea profitably and get management approval for launching a project.Russian companies are also encouraging domestic entrepreneurship and participating in acceleration programs, but not yet so actively. Well-known examples are Yandex, Mail.ru Group, large banks and telecoms, NLMK Group.
Why present ideas to management?
Companies now use a common approach to stimulating internal entrepreneurship: the idea of an employee can become not just a project within a corporation, but a separate start-up. For example, a few years ago Sberbank created the corporate accelerator Sber # Up to help employees implement ideas within the bank’s ecosystem or in the market as a whole. As part of the program, Sberbank invested six projects that became finalists.
This example shows that if an employee actively and competently proposes an idea for a new product to management, he will be able not only to receive a promotion or other type of material reward, but even launch a startup and receive investments from the corporation in which he works.
How does the mechanics of “selling” an idea work within a company
The work environment is like a marketplace: full of people pushing ideas and competing for the approval of executives (“buyers”) without realizing that they are selling.
It’s important to remember that even though your idea is about future sales to the company’s customers, you first need to convince management of it. In this case, the same rules apply as in the foreign market:
- There are several decision makers (DM) and business customers, you need to define them. Find out who is responsible for the decisions in the direction in which you are proposing the idea. Who will benefit the most from the idea? Who is involved in budgeting similar projects?
- The value of the solution must be apparent to all participants. For example, if you find that projects are peer-reviewed by top management, articulate the idea in universally accessible language and highlight the benefits for each department. Let’s say your idea can help shorten the production cycle. It will help marketing to speed up the launch of new products, sales – to shorten the transaction cycle and, as a result, finance – to increase turnover.
- It is important to identify the goals and objectives of the business in order to correctly position the idea. Which markets are strategically important? Should the focus be on active growth or on cost reduction? Is there a desire to actively develop a particular technology?
- The personal motivation of the decision maker can be much stronger than the business one.For example, it is more important for a middle manager to get a promotion than to fulfill a KPI plan. Emphasize how the idea will help in its true goals.
An idea is a product that needs marketing packaging for a specific target audience (DM), detachment from competitors (including external startups), value proposition and promotion. We will reveal these points in more detail.
Idea as a product
The idea stage is one of the earliest stages of a product’s life cycle. It is characterized by uncertainty in the audience, value, possible ways of monetization. It refers to past experiences, but offers an innovative vision.
There is too much uncertainty here for leadership. Therefore, before the presentation, you need to work out the following points:
- Context: market and target audience. Who is your competitor and with what product? Do you know their strategy? Who is the target audience for your company’s products now and what are their expectations?
- What problem and for whom does the product solve at the end.You need to figure out whether the product will help you better solve the current problems of the current audience, respond to previously unresolved needs, or attract a new audience.
- Key features and benefits: what technologies are needed to implement the idea? Purchases from which suppliers? Through which channels can the new product be distributed? Does your company already own the listed assets or will it need to be obtained? Will the new product help protect assets or earn new ones?
- Money: budget and monetization. You need at least a rough estimate of the costs of testing an idea, as well as at what price and through what model you will distribute the product in the future. If we are talking about a new product, as a rule, it should sell for more. If about optimization of the current one, the costs should decrease
- Risks. Analyze what the scale of the problem might be if something goes wrong, whether you are only risking the project budget or other company resources. What exactly can go wrong on the part of suppliers, production, marketing, sales. Also include risks from competitors.
It is desirable to link the key features and target audience of the idea with the competencies and goals of the company. Use what you already have and help you achieve what you want. For example, PravoTech has long established itself in the corporate law software market thanks to its deep knowledge of the work of legal services. Over time, on this foundation, they earned other assets, including a strong position as suppliers of legal departments to large companies.
Having developed ManageOne – software for automating the routine operations of any department – the company was able to distribute it without much effort, since in each potential client company they already had loyal users-lawyers who could recommend them to other departments.
It should be directed to two audiences at once:
- the client of the product itself;
- a client within the company who allocates a budget.
Support from colleagues
If you have a product, discuss it with colleagues and find allies. Perhaps the need for it is seen by other employees who can help you both with the implementation and with the presentation of the idea.
For example, sales people sell only expensive projects, but they always receive requests from non-target clients without a budget. In this case, you can create a new product that will be limited in capabilities, but “packaged”.That is, with a much lower price tag than the main product. Its creation will cover the need for an additional segment and help fulfill KPIs for both sellers and marketers.
If you want to get the management excited about a new idea, you don’t have to write a huge business plan. First, it is enough to formulate the points from the “Idea as a product” section. The essence can be revealed in several slides, and after preliminary approval, the subject part can be developed.
Perhaps the company has been thinking about a similar idea for a long time and is ready to share the best practices with those who will take responsibility for the project. If the presentation fails this time, your ability to experiment without wasting resources will be celebrated. This will increase the chances that you will be listened to more attentively in the future.
Developing a comparison with the sales area, it may be advisable to practice presenting ideas. The trend of high interest in domestic entrepreneurship does not mean that owners and top management pick up every proposed idea.As between products on a foreign market, there is competition between ideas.
How to reach the maximum
Relevant skills are required to unleash the full potential of both a specific idea and the benefits that corporate entrepreneurship can bring to you personally. Start with ready-made online courses on product thinking, planning and project management – they can help you form a common understanding and create a map of those specific competencies that will be useful for you to develop a specific idea in the company in which you work.
It is not always necessary to go to paid trainings for them: you can ask your colleagues for help. At the same time, it is better to work out the key points at special trainings: the basis of the program is just the practical part, and repetition and feedback help to consolidate the skills.
Here you can also refer to company resources, especially if you are interested in internal entrepreneurship. Offer the management or HR department a useful educational program in your opinion to increase the competence of the whole team, as well as begin to prepare the ground for further activities.
Finally, if your company has the appropriate capabilities and ambitions, you can offer to organize a corporate accelerator and develop both external and internal startups. So, we organized corporate accelerators for VTB, Michelin, Unilever. Within the framework of such programs, successful teams of employees develop skills and develop projects to a high level with the support of trainers and mentors. In this case, the product turns out to be maximally packaged for the market, and the skills are the most developed and confident.

90,000 7 best value proposition examples we’ve ever seen
Business value is arguably the most important element in your marketing efforts. The value proposition firstly: signals to potential customers why they should do business with you and not with your competitors, and secondly: from the very beginning it makes the benefits of your products or services clear and understandable.
Unfortunately, many companies either bury their value proposition in buzzwords and banal meaningless slogans, or don’t bother to highlight it on their website and in their marketing campaigns. And sometimes it happens that they do not understand at all what it is!
Today, we’ll take a look at seven of the best unique value propositions we’ve encountered. Let’s take a look at what makes them so compelling, look at some ideas for developing or refining your own value proposition, and highlight points that would be nice to consider when incorporating a value proposition into website content and marketing materials. So let’s go.
1. Uber is the smartest way to get around
Few tech companies are as polarized or widely criticized as Uber. As one of the most vocal advocates of empowerment offered by the so-called “gig economy,” Uber has deservedly worked hard to strip its drivers of basic employee protections, which has even been the subject of government scrutiny. The company’s decision to incorporate into the Bermuda financial system to avoid corporate tax liabilities is usually a factor in why everyone hates Silicon Valley’s “disruption” rhetoric.
One thing that Uber is definitely doing right is its unique value proposition.
Uber Value Proposition Examples
Uber expertly highlights all the bads about the traditional taxi service (without explicitly naming these points), and hints at its excellent service. The simple (but highly effective) example above, taken from the Uber homepage, perfectly captures the simplicity and ease that underpin what makes the company’s service so enticing:
- One press and the car comes straight to you
- Your driver knows exactly where to go
- Payment is completely cashless
Everything here is in direct contrast with the typical experience of using a taxi – no phone calls to disinterested dispatchers, no painful conversations, no attempts to explain to the tired taxi driver wherever you are, and no fuss with change or worry about whether you have enough money in your wallet.Just a fast, efficient way to get where you need to go. This is reinforced by the message at the top of the Uber home page: “Your day is yours.”
At this point, it’s worth comparing Uber’s value proposition with that of rival Lyft. The proposals of the two companies are almost identical, which makes their direct comparison quite interesting. View this information on the Lyft homepage:
Examples of Lyft Value Proposals
Structurally and thematically, the Lyft home page is very similar to Uber. However, there are some key differences here that highlight how much more clearly Uber’s value proposition is positioned.
First, Lyft really scores points for including multiple walkthroughs to help visitors imagine what a Lyft ride would look like. However, take a look at the images of the first step of this process. It lists three service levels, Lyft – Lyft, Lyft Line, and Lyft Plus, but it lacks any explanation of the differences between these service levels and does not indicate why we need to choose between them.
In addition, while the final stage of the process – driver billing and rating is clearly explained – this information implies that the user is required to take some final, defined action. Uber doesn’t have that. Yes, Uber customers are probably most likely to rate drivers (often with an assumed “secret” rating of about 4.6 out of 5, which many believe is the benchmark for performance), but this is not necessary. Most people, having jumped out of a taxi, simply continue their day without being distracted even by checking with the driver. For a service based on the concept of efficiency and convenience, this is a big deal.
Lyft can be argued that better at demonstrating what the user expects, and this argument certainly deserves attention, especially if you’ve ever dealt with Uber’s unexpected price spike. However, comparing two similar services, we dare to argue that Uber’s value proposition is positioned more clearly and certainly more convincingly than Lyft.
2. Apple iPhone – experience is product
Even in today’s congested consumer electronics market, it’s hard to imagine a more iconic product than the Apple iPhone. It’s also hard to imagine a product with the same competition as Apple’s flagship mobile device. So what sets the iPhone apart from the hundreds of competing devices on the market?
iPhone Value Proposition Examples
As you would probably expect from a company renowned not only for its sleek product design, but also for its really cool products, Apple is firmly repeating its value proposition across the entire iPhone lineup, in the design of the device itself, in the ease of use. (which has remained a cornerstone of Apple’s aesthetic since the launch of OS X), the quality that the iPhone offers to the user.
This marketing program is Apple’s value proposition.
Look at the picture. Apple says the phone “has to be more than just a set of features” – but that’s exactly what a smartphone is. We can poke fun at Apple’s high design aesthetic for a long time (the #freejonyive hashtag on Twitter, which collects jokes that Apple’s lead designer has been locked in a white room for several years, is a prime example), but it’s a surprisingly effective approach that helps Apple remain at the forefront of a fiercely competitive market for nearly a decade.
Value Proposition Examples Free Jony Ive #freejonyive
Apple knows how crowded and competitive the smart device market is. So instead of focusing on specific features (none of which are unique to iPhone or iOS) – the company prefers to focus on the iPhone experience. Most companies can’t use words like “magic” to describe a smartphone, but Apple can.
Of course, Apple doesn’t just sit on its laurels and rely on inspiring messages to sell you its value proposition. The iPhone official website does touch on a few truly unique features of the iPhone and iOS, including security:
Not only is this a very smart move on Apple’s part (especially after the disastrous FBI iPhone unlocking lawsuit in San Bernardino), the text is also fully consistent with the rest of Apple’s messages and allows you to translate an incredibly complex topic – encryption – into easily understandable language. with which most users are able to easily “make friends”.
Apple understands that even focusing on the unique features of the iPhone won’t be enough to make a device stand out in such a crowded market. By highlighting the overall device experience, Apple’s value proposition is as unique as its approach to product design and aesthetics.
3. Unbounce – A / B Testing Without Headache
Moving away from the world of consumer electronics and apps and into the B2B territory, our next value proposition example is from the Unbounce landing page optimization platform.
As you would expect from a conversion rate optimization company, Unbounce’s value proposition is clear from the moment you hit the homepage, namely the ability to create, publish and test landing pages without any information resources.
For many small businesses (and even larger companies), the perceived technical overhead of A / B testing is a major barrier to entry, making Unbounce’s value proposition particularly compelling.
This homepage also boasts a number of other features that make the overall user experience very appealing. For example, a strong CTA not to be missed and a simple 3-step visual representation of how Unbounce works. The text also clearly states that Unbounce is primarily aimed at marketers (clearly indicating understanding and appeal to a specific target audience), and the fact that users can create mobile-responsive landing pages, which is satisfying in itself. specific needs.Perfect solution.
4. Slack – be more productive with less effort
The world seems to be divided into two types of people: those who love Slack and those who haven’t tried it yet. For the uninitiated: Slack is a work and messaging app for the workplace. It’s deceptively easy to use, yet robust enough for large teams working on complex projects (as evidenced by the very clever Slack inclusion of the NASA Jet Propulsion Lab example on its homepage). So what sets Slack apart from thousands of other messaging and productivity apps?
Essentially, Slack leverages its value proposition in the above example – it makes the user experience easier, more enjoyable, and more productive. The NASA JPL example is also very smart, as it subtly implies that if the application is good enough for large groups of scientists at NASA – people who send robots to other planets – then it will work for anyone.
However, Slack has several advantages that support its core value, which is that it makes collaboration easier.
On the one hand, few (if any) productivity apps can boast the same number of integrations as Slack. This means it is almost guaranteed to fit into any company’s existing workflow. It is this variety of supported applications that have helped Slack almost single-handedly dominate workplace productivity.
Examples of Slack value propositions: All your tools in one place.
Simplicity is also a key theme at the heart of Slack’s value proposition. The premise of “finding anything, anywhere, anytime, on any device” is another advantage that Slack users regularly, and quite rightly, claim.
Examples of Slack value propositions: Search the entire archive.
Let’s not go into every aspect of Slack. Suffice it to say that Slack’s messaging and positioning touches on any pain points you think about when building interactions between people at work, and simplifies them in compelling ways. For newbies, this might sound too good to be true, which is probably what makes Slack so wildly popular (and helped the company reach an exciting $ 3.8 billion valuation) – everyone wants to try if what it promises is true. company. As you read the Slack site, you almost physically feel the relief that is promised to you.
Slack’s mantra “Be Less Busy” isn’t just a catchy slogan – it’s a company’s value proposition neatly summed up in three beautiful words.
5. Digit – Save Money Without Thinking
The world of personal finance is another ruthless competitive space, with tens of thousands of applications designed to help people manage their money more effectively. However, few have the same value proposition as Digit. This is a relatively new service that helps users “save money without thinking about it.”
Examples of Digit value propositions: Security
Digit allows users to securely connect their bank accounts to a service that algorithmically analyzes user habits and routine spending. Then he begins to “optimize” user accounts, and little by little “pull” money from them to a special savings account with an FDIC guarantee, which users can safely use at any time and collect their savings.
The key difference between Digit and other similar applications is that the process is completely automated. Users literally don’t need to do anything to start saving money in a savings account.A little bucks here, a little there, and, unbeknownst to yourself, you get a decent amount for a rainy day, while still keeping enough funds for recurring payments. This is really cool.
Saving money can be a serious financial obstacle for many, especially for people with limited income. By automating the entire process, Digit offers users a completely self-contained savings solution and its value proposition is truly unique.
6.LessAccounting – Bookkeeping, no hassle
For most people, accounting is a headache. It is confusing and time-consuming, even if all the accounting forms you use in your business are relatively simple. Against this background, LessAccounting’s value proposition looks compelling.
Example Value Proposals LessAccounting
LessAccounting’s premise is built on simplifying accounting, and its value proposition is strengthened on the official website. The homepage’s slogan – “Make your life easier with our accounting software” – is immediately apparent. As you navigate through the site, you are constantly reminded of the product’s value proposition, namely that no other accounting software makes accounting as easy and painless as LessAccounting.
While the service is available to large enterprises as well, it primarily targets small operations suitable for freelancers and small business owners, and its marketing approach reflects this at every stage. From blog posts that answer questions for newbies to accounting, to case studies of small business owners praising the product’s simplicity and usability. Every aspect of LessAccounting messaging focuses on how much easier your life will be with LessAccounting.
7. CrazyEgg – Tracking Website Behavior at a Unique Price
Figuring out exactly how people use your site is a major challenge for many businesses.Sometimes it seems to you that the behavior model of your site’s users is understandable and predictable, but without clear, real data, you do not know for sure. This is where CrazyEgg comes in.
CrazyEgg Value Proposition Examples
CrazyEgg is an analytics tool that allows users to view heat maps of how people actually interact with a website. Users can see cursor movements, scroll depth, and other interesting behavior tracking features that allow them to truly understand how people interact with the site.
However, CrazyEgg is far from the only player in the field of behavioral tracking. So what is its value? The fact is that no other service, unlike CrazyEgg, provides more functionality and understanding at such a favorable price and with minimal hassle.
CrazyEgg: Like a Pair of
X-ray Glasses The smart folks at CrazyEgg understand that not everyone who visits their site is familiar with the concept of heat maps or behavioral tracking, so they provide visitors with a friendly and accessible overview of CrazyEgg’s features, making the product easier to use.
CrazyEgg Value Proposition Examples: Answers Intuitive FAQs
The site lists everything that users can do with CrazyEgg. Skillful use of active verbs shows visitors how much better their life will be when using this service. This list encourages potential users to invest more money in changing and improving the site using actionable data, making testing and usage analytics easier and more efficient.
CrazyEgg’s ease of use is also emphasized. For example, the fact that there is little to no technical cost in using a product is highlighted before another key aspect of the value proposition is indicated – that it is the most fully featured product on the market.
Considering the overall flow of this page, it is really very smart. It uses simple, straightforward language and asks questions that pique users’ interest before they even know what to do with it, and then closes a deal by highlighting the central elements of the value proposition.
Create Your Own Powerful Value Proposition
Hopefully these examples have given you some ideas on how you can improve your business value proposition. Often, you don’t need a huge marketing or design budget to make it better. Sometimes, just a little concentration and trying to look at your site or application from the point of view of your users is all it takes. English
90,000 Inflation in Bashkiria exceeded the average in the Volga Federal District and in Russia. At the same time, foodstuffs became cheaper – Business FM
In July, inflation in Bashkiria exceeded the average in the Volga Federal District and in Russia. There is also good news – food prices have begun to fall. Marat Kashapov, manager of the National Bank Branch for the Republic of Bashkortostan of the Bank of Russia, tells in more detail in the program “Databank”:
In July, inflation in the food sector in the republic began to decline after two months of growth. Its level dropped to 7.8 percent. The slowdown was most influenced by the dynamics of prices for vegetables, fruits, bakery products, pork and poultry meat.
In particular, due to the atypical heat, the harvesting of vegetables in open ground began a month earlier. Fairs for the sale of local vegetables and farm bakery and meat products started at the end of July.
Apples and oranges began to fall in price due to an increase in the volume of imports.
At the same time, inflation accelerated in the non-food segment. The main reasons remain the excess of demand over supply and the growth of producers’ costs. The leaders of the price growth are still building materials and cars.
There is a high activity in the republic in the construction sector, including in the segment of individual housing. There is still an increased demand for the entire range of building materials against the backdrop of a lack of supply. This is especially noticeable in the markets for wood and metals, which are actively exported due to attractive world prices.
The rise in prices for the main types of raw materials – it is not only metals, but also fabrics, rubber, plastic – as well as interruptions in the supply of electronic components entail an increase in the costs of automakers.
At the same time, the growth in gasoline prices slowed down in the region: the effect of the damping mechanism, according to which the state compensates oil companies for a part of the difference between export and domestic prices for fuel, is being affected. Due to the developed oil refining, the growth rate of fuel prices in the republic is lower than in the Volga Federal District and in Russia.
With regard to services, inflation here remained almost unchanged due to the multidirectional dynamics of prices for a number of main categories. The restraining influence was exerted by passenger traffic, tourism and communication services. For example, the demand for trips to Turkey did not increase due to fires near popular Turkish resorts. As a result, there was a surplus of supply, and prices for vacations there decreased. And cellular operators, due to high competition, have softened the tariff policy for both basic communication packages and subscriptions to video services.
At the same time, the growth of gas prices for households and interest rates on loans accelerated.
According to the forecast of the Bank of Russia, inflation will return to the target 4 percent next year. The regulator influences inflation through demand. The main instrument here is the key rate, which forms the rest of the rates in the economy. Its decline stimulates demand. Borrowed money becomes cheaper, and deposits lose their attractiveness, people start spending more. An increase in the key rate, on the contrary, restrains demand: it becomes more expensive to take out a loan, but deposits are more profitable, and you can make savings. To balance supply and demand, the Bank of Russia at the last four meetings of the Board of Directors raised the key rate from 4 as much as 25 hundredths of a percent to 6 and a half percent per annum ideal rate | 08/25/21
The Yarkuba correspondent assessed the capabilities of the modern garbage can cleaning system, which has been used in the region since 2019.
Every year Yaroslavl residents pay more and more attention to solving environmental problems. The townspeople carry their waste for recycling, collect and hand over waste paper, batteries and plastic covers.
The heroes of our today’s material are the crew of the car wash. The workers told Yarkub how the garbage cans cleaning system works.
How are containers washed?
Every day more than 100 cars remove garbage from the streets of Yaroslavl. During one working shift, the drivers of garbage trucks several times pick up waste from all container sites and take it to the “Clean City” waste sorting station.
A special washing machine is regularly connected to the work of the garbage truck. It is designed to clean the bins of sticky debris that accumulates inside the container.
The driver of the car wash told how it works. The first step is to manually bring the trash can up to the machine and set it on its feet. Then, thanks to the automatic control, which is regulated by the remote control, the container is lifted and turned over. Then it is rinsed with a powerful jet of water with a disinfectant.
How is the system for cleaning waste containers in Yaroslavl. Photo and video
– The remote control is located on the right side of the body, says Ivan Khlopin. – This is done so that I do not have to climb into the cockpit every time. There are 11 buttons on the control panel, but I only use two. The first brings up the washing mechanism, and the second starts the wash cycle. Note that our containers are cleaned not only inside, but also outside.
The water supplied to the high-pressure system of the washing machine is poured into the Charter station. Before processing the tanks, the disinfectant “A-DEZ” is added to it. It is safe for people, animals and the environment.
How is the system for cleaning waste containers in Yaroslavl. Photo and video
Unfortunately, the automated process does not always completely empty the containers. Sticky debris that remains inside, drivers scrape off the walls by hand.
– After we have scraped off the remaining waste, the tank goes through the cleaning system again, – said Ivan Khlyupin.- We carefully monitor the cleanliness of containers, since decomposing waste is very dangerous for the environment and humans. They contain toxic chemicals that destroy live microorganisms and negatively affect air quality.
The container cleaning system is installed on a regular MAZ truck. Perhaps its only drawback is the increased noise level that is heard during the rinsing of the tanks. But this is how all such high-pressure systems work. The company is trying to form a container washing schedule in such a way that in the morning hours the sites located slightly away from large yards are served.
The driver’s working day begins at six o’clock in the morning. Together with other employees of LLC “Charter” at the beginning of the shift, he receives a schedule of tasks for the day and goes to the sites. It should be noted that the fulfillment of the tasks of all Charter employees is monitored using the Glonass system.
– Every car is equipped with the Glonass system to track the movement of drivers around the city, – said Sergey Sushkov. – In addition, the logistics center allows you to control the execution of tasks. The cleanliness of the containers is recorded by the drivers on the phone. This is done in order to confirm the result of the work, including for residents who ask the question: “Why is it not removed?” We explain in such cases that the cleaning was done on time in full and we confirm this with a photo report indicating the exact time.
It is important to take into account that the machine leaves for washing containers only at freezing temperatures. In the winter season, containers are removed from the sites for service work and put in order on the basis of LLC “Charter”.
Every day a team of two people works with the washing machine. They transport dirty dumpsters and even climb inside the tank to scrape off sticky waste. How can you keep your appearance neat and your clothes clean in such conditions? The fact is that the form is regularly sanitized.
– My uniform is always clean, even my shoes shine! – Ivan Khlopin smiles. – There is no unpleasant smell from clothes or in the car. It all depends on the person, on how clean he is. The form must be washed on time, in the machine do regular wet cleaning, then you even start to forget that you are working with waste!

The set of clothes for each employee includes summer and winter semi-overalls, a jacket, boots, gloves, a raincoat and a hat. The shoe has an iron sole that allows stepping on glass and other sharp objects.
At the end of each shift, all waste generated during the cleaning of the container tanks remains inside the machine. Then they are taken to the base, where the remaining liquid passes through special filters many times and is disposed of properly.
High-quality provision of services to the population is ensured by our own modern fleet of garbage trucks and auxiliary equipment that meets the environmental standards Euro-4 and Euro-5, which significantly reduces the emission of exhaust gases during waste disposal.
