Stratford Perth Museum – Presenter Spotlight
5. Harper Lee: To Kill a Mockingbird
The Stratford Perth Museum partnered with the Monroe County Museum to present Harper Lee: To Kill a Mockingbird exhibit for the summer of 2018. This is the first travelling exhibit ever created by the museum in Monroeville, Alabama.
This original and exclusive exhibit turns the pages of one of the world’s most loved novels. The iconic book is arguably one of the most enduring written works of our time and is as relevant today as it was in the 1930s when it was set and in the 1960s when it was published and despite dealing with an uncomfortable subject it has been a must read and loved book for generations.
The exhibit examines that phenomenon – a book that is so important to individuals, holds a special place in American culture and is remarkably popular around the world having sold 30 million copies in 40 languages?
Thousands of people flock to Harper Lee’s hometown of Monroeville and the Monroe County Museum each year to see the exhibit Harper Lee: In Her Own Words. The museum is in the courthouse that was the setting for the climax of the movie. The Stratford Perth Museum is very proud of its partnership with the Monroe County Museum and to be able to present this exhibit in 2018.
6. Shakespeare’s First Folio
In 2014 the Stratford Perth Museum displayed Shakespeare’s First Folio for a weekend in July. Valued at as much as $21 million the First Folio displayed at the museum was published in 1623 and is the only one in Canada and one of 235 in the world. The response was so high that we sold tickets with a one-hour viewing window. Through Yapsody, that was not only possible but it enabled us to manage patrons and visitors to pick time slots. The weekend was completely sold out and they averaged a person a minute with perfect patron flow.
YAPSODY USER SINCE: 2015
John Kastner, General Manager of Stratford Perth Museum, was recommended Yapsody by Stratford Museum’s website provider and provincial tourism partner. With access to the extensive feature set on Yapsody and high control over the tickets sold, the museum was better able to manage every aspect of ticket selling and haven’t looked back since.

Spotlight on: Perth | First Class Holidays
With Qantas launching the new non-stop London to Perth recently, Perth has never been so accessible. But what makes this region so special? Its vibrant, relaxed lifestyle with beautiful natural highlights – including the Swan River, Kings Park and Botanic Garden, and the Indian Ocean – undoubtedly contribute to its increasing popularity as a top holiday destination. The city’s 19 metropolitan beaches, where you can relax and enjoy one of Western Australia’s famous sunsets over the water, probably help too. Once you’re there, there’s so much to see and do that you might not know where to start.
Kings Park
It’s the equivalent of New York’s Central Park – except it’s even larger… 400 hectares larger! Kings Park is one of the largest inner-city parks in the entire world, and it’s just a short walk or free bus ride from Perth city centre. Look out at impressive views of the Swan River and the city skyline, settle down for a picnic or see an outdoor movie or live performance in summer. The first park to be designated for public use in Australia (in 1872), Kings Park is also home to the State War Memorial and State Botanic Garden. It showcases 1,700 unique native species and a dazzling display of wildflowers in spring, celebrated with the annual Kings Park Festival in September.
Dining out
Perth City’s food scene continues to explode with new bars, cafes and restaurants opening on a regular basis.
A cultural adventure
The Northbridge area of Perth is home to The Art Gallery of Western Australia, the Western Australia Museum, State Library of Western Australia, the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts and the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia, which includes the Heath Ledger Theatre. From November to May, visitors can enjoy various outdoor cinemas, live performances and festivals, including the popular Fringe Festival and Perth International Arts Festival.
Vineyards and cellar doors
Western Australia’s oldest wine region, the Swan Valley, is an easy 30-minute drive from Perth. Visitors can meet the maker at small family wineries or sample wines from internationally renowned vineyards. The Swan Valley Food and Wine Trail – and the Perth Hills and Avon Valley beyond – promises fresh produce, microbreweries and galleries to explore.

I tried to call Spotlight in Midland six times today twice I got through and was put through to the appropriate department and then was put on hold for 15 minutes before I got cut off.
Three times I did get through and I was put on hold without actually speaking to anybody and then got cut off again after at least 15 minutes on hold, and on the six time I asked to speak to the manager whose name was Rebecca. She was extremely rude not at all interested in the fact that I was complaining about the poor service and not being able to get through all the time. She She accused me of abusing her instead of listening to my complaint and trying to resolve it. I think this service is an absolute disgrace. The manager of that store does not have the skills to be a manager and the store definitely needs an overhaul and review of it’s customer service abilities.

Perth
Perth (eng.Perth remains the largest city and capital of the state of Western Australia. When making your own hotel reservations in Australia, pay special attention to the location of the tourist center. The city is located on the shores of the Indian Ocean in the southwest of Australia.
According to 2010 data, the population of Perth is 1,700,000.
For this reason, Perth is the fourth most populous country after Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. According to statistics, it is in Perth that about 75% of the population of the entire state of Western Australia lives. The city continues to grow at a steady pace today, with Perth growing at a pace above the Australian average.
Perth: how to get there?
Perth is located in the southwest of the continent between the lower coastal step Darling Range and the Indian Ocean. The city’s outskirts and business center are located on the Svon River.
Closest to Perth is the millionaire city of Adelaide, which belongs to the state of South Australia. The remoteness of settlements from each other is 2104 kilometers or 1307 miles. Geographically, Perth is closer to Indonesian Jakarta and East Timor than to Melbourne and Sydney.
What is there to see inPerth?
The city center is bounded by the Swan River to the south and east, the railway to the north, and Kings Park to the west. When planning to book air tickets in Moscow, keep in mind that Perth is one of the most popular tourist cities. Many travelers aim to be on the Australian Christmas Island, located 2360 kilometers northwest of the city.
Modern Perth has two airports serving domestic and international flights. Yet the distance of 4,000 kilometers from Sydney makes the city’s residents feel somewhat isolated.Perth has a road system that consists of 9 highways and 3 freeways. Absolutely all roads are free. More than 60 tram stations and over 200 bus stations can be found within the city.
Tranquil, sun-drenched Perth offers several entertainment options. The first step is to visit the local bell tower, which is a national symbol. In Cohunu Koala Park, you can hold real koalas in your arms. On the beautiful sandy beaches you can sunbathe and swim in the purest water. Here you can also choose one of the luxurious hotels – it is not necessary to settle in the city center. It is the bizarre nature that attracts tourists to Perth. Here you can see giant curry trees, visit a wine-growing area or go for a picnic in the field.
Perth: Where to Eat?
With the onset of evening, tourists move to cafes and restaurants. According to experts, Gelare, Piazza del Sol Trattoria and Pizzeria, Frasers Restaurant, The Indianna Teahouse, Fremantle, Viet Hoa, The Grosvenor Hotel Bar, The Boat Shed, Belgium Beer Cafe.
Where to Stay inPerth?
A tourist will be interested in booking cheap air tickets to Korea only if he has chosen where to stay. The same can be said for Australia. There are several hotels in Perth that are always happy to welcome tourists. First of all, these are Burswood International Resort Casino 5 *, Sheraton Perth 5 *, Duxton Hotel 5 *, Novotel Langley Perth 4 *, Miss Maud 3 *. 90,000 Australia’s City of Lights welcomes new Church of ScientologyPerth may be a remote city, but its urban, determined entrepreneurial spirit is perfect for the world’s fastest growing and coolest religion.
Take the world’s most remote major city, nestled between predominantly empty horizons of oceans and deserts, and add seasoned and kind pioneers from England, Scotland, Italy, China, Vietnam, Greece and many other ethnic lands; mix it all with an enthusiastic and determined Australian spirit; drop a battalion of gold diggers and diamond miners here; sing a bar or two of Waltzing Matilda, add a kangaroo or two, and you have space for the newest Church of Scientology: Perth, the capital and largest city of Western Australia.
A new light in this “City of Lights” is located just one block from the Great East Highway, just 15 minutes from downtown Perth and next to the famous Swan River, home to the majestic black swans for which the river was named. It is here that over 1,000 Scientologists and guests, some of whom have traveled thousands of kilometers to arrive in Perth, gathered on Saturday, May 5, 2018 to celebrate the grand opening of the new Church of Scientology.
Mr. David Miscavige, Spiritual Leader of Scientology, traveled 15,000 kilometers to arrive in Perth. He told the guests at the grand opening that he would soon be heading for the ribbon-cutting ceremony across another 30,000 kilometers. But for Perth, Mr. Miscavige announced, “This is the now moment that you have been waiting for.”
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Miscavige spoke of a new future for Scientology in Western Australia. “And with that, we move from the time of daydreaming to the moment when the last dream comes true, before this ribbon falls. That is, this is the time to bring our help unconditionally – to everyone and everyone. For only in this way, this new Church of Scientology serves Perth and becomes Perth. ”
Mr. Miscavige has spearheaded a period of unprecedented growth with the opening of 65 new Churches of Scientology in recent years.Perth becomes number 66. These churches set the standard defined by L. Ron Hubbard and enforced by Mr. Miscavige, who presents each church as the ideal expression of the principles and practices of Scientology, including many community and humanitarian programs.
Situated in southwestern Australia, Perth is isolated and difficult to reach. It is faster to fly from Bali than from Sydney. The closest Australian city to Perth is Adelaide, located more than 2000 kilometers away, on the southern coast of the mainland.
Perth’s isolated location has made it an imposing city, where the motto is “Floreat”, Latin for “prosper” or “thrive.” This has not escaped the attention of Scientologists. After all, L. Ron Hubbard’s famous wish was that each and every one should “prosper and prosper.”
In that same spirit, the church’s grand opening was accompanied by Australia’s traditional anthem, “Develop Beautiful Australia,” followed by a local victory song that captures the daring and adventurous spirit of Perth Scientologists.
While the population of Perth is thriving like any other city, drugs, crime and other social traps are ubiquitous factors. Founded over 60 years ago, the Church of Scientology Perth has been at the forefront of community betterment programs and humanitarian campaigns.
Scientologists distributed tens of thousands of brochures for the Church-sponsored campaign The Truth About Drugs . The Citizens Commission on Human Rights, also sponsored by the Church, has been successfully campaigning in recent years to stop barbaric psychiatric practices, including the sterilization of people deemed “mentally ill.”
Other Church-sponsored programs – The Way to Happiness, Common Sense Guide to Better Living, and United for Human Rights, which promotes rights for all people – are also extremely active in Perth and Western Australia.
All of these activities reflect Scientologists’ hard work and dedication to help strengthen the great city and culture of Perth. And the citizens noticed it.
High-level speakers and guests represented civil, educational, cultural, educational, law enforcement and business communities.Speakers included: Mr. Steve Hansen, Member of the Business Council of Western Australia; Dr. Bernard Dougherty, Professor of Emerging Religious Movements at the School of Theology, Charles Sturt University; Dr. Haya Krishnan, Physician and Associate of the Australian Natural Medicine Association; and Mr. Paul Sheel, Founder of the Missionaries of the Medal Charitable Foundation.
In a city where success and achievement have become his epitome, Mr. Hansen talked about his successes in developing his company from five to 42 branches – all thanks to L.Ron Hubbard. “If someone asks,” Why should I use administrative technology? ” I will answer: “Because she gives the correct answers. ” The fact is that this technology works 110 percent of the time. I believe it can be beneficial in any business, to anyone, anywhere. I think this church has fantastic opportunities and I am very fortunate to be surrounded by amazing and well trained people. Here, any resident can find everything he needs to develop and fulfill his personal dreams. And that means a tremendous impact on the whole of Western Australia. ”
Dr. Dougherty cited the example of the Church-sponsored Citizens Commission on Human Rights, which works to combat psychiatric abuse. “There are deep-seated problems here in Western Australia,” the professor said. “The worst of them is that local children are prescribed psychotropic drugs against their will and, even worse, they are given ECT (electroconvulsive therapy), even to eleven years old.” This is not just a crime. This is unimaginable from a moral point of view. But Dr. Dougherty also spoke of Church-sponsored solutions to combat this crime: “You launched a fact-based campaign and you met with the Western Australian Parliament (its representatives) to expose the shocking truth. Finally, you’ve achieved a total ban on ECT for minors, protecting some of the most vulnerable people in this state! ”
Dr. Krishnan talked about how Scientology focuses on the spiritual component of people, on what is missing in modern medicine.“I believe the Church of Scientology is the solution for humanity, the answer for it to cope with life and improve itself,” said Dr. Krishnan. “I saw your dedication, your commitment to helping others, and your principles to protect every citizen in Perth. It gives me great honor and hope when I know that there is a church where I can guide people, knowing that they will become better, having received the answers they were looking for, ”said Dr. Krishnan. “And so, with this solemn ceremony, let’s awaken the human spirit and create big change in Perth and Western Australia!”
Mr. Sheel, of the Missionaries of the Medal Society, spoke of the need for charity work, even in a prosperous city like Perth. His organization partners with the Church of Scientology to find solutions for those trapped in drugs, alcoholism and poverty. “I immediately saw a tremendous opportunity for the church in terms of support,” said Mr. Sheel. “No matter what the problem is — drugs, human rights, morality — you approach it with a readiness that is unmatched. I’ve worked with humanitarian teams from Nullarbor to Kimberley County to Darwin, and I’ve never seen anything like your campaign. This is help with a capital letter, ”he said.”Yes, this is the Church of Scientology – a humanitarian organization in all directions.”
Anyone approaching Perth’s new Church of Scientology is greeted by the building’s striking façade. Entering the vast space, parishioners enter a reception area overlooking the public information center. The space opens wide with high ceilings and industrial lighting. Clean lines and darkened metal details with warm, rustic wood give a modern industrial tone to the entire space.
Visitors’ introduction to Dianetics and Scientology begins at the Public Information Center. Its displays feature over 500 films in 17 languages that reflect the beliefs and practices of the Scientology religion and the life and legacy of Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard.
The Clearing House also details the many humanitarian programs Scientology supports. These include human rights education around the world; a large-scale program for education about the dangers of drugs, prevention of drug addiction and social adaptation of drug addicts; a worldwide network of literacy and education centers; and the Scientology Volunteer Program, which is today the world’s largest independent relief group.
Perth Chapel is a grandiose 2-storey space, equipped with lighting with reflected light around the perimeter, which creates the illusion of a floating ceiling. The church chapel hosts meetings of the Scientology congregation: Sunday services, weddings and naming ceremonies, as well as many social events such as banquets, seminars and workshops for people of all faiths.
The Café is a meeting point for those attending events, as well as for parishioners who come here in between receiving Scientology services.
All introductory services are provided in the new church. These are seminars on Dianetics and Scientology, which are held during the day, evening and on weekends, where they teach the fundamental principles and their application in life. Scientology courses are also provided to improve various aspects of life.
The church has several dozen specially equipped rooms ideal for providing Scientology auditing (spiritual counseling). There are also rooms dedicated to the training of auditors (spiritual counselors), where Scientologists practice their auditing skills to help others achieve spiritual freedom.
The New Church of Scientology Perth opened during a period of rapid expansion, with 65 new Churches of Scientology opening from Los Angeles to Tampa, London to Milan, Tel Aviv to Tokyo, and Kaohsiung to Bogota.
New Ideal Churches of Scientology inaugurated over the past year in the San Fernando Valley, California; in Miami (Florida); in Copenhagen (Denmark); in Dublin (Ireland); in Birmingham (UK); in Amsterdam (Netherlands); in Johannesburg (South Africa); in Salt Lake City, Utah; and Silicon Valley, California.
In 2018, new churches are planned to open in cultural centers of Europe, Latin America, North America and Africa.
90,000 what to see and where to go in Perth?
In 1829, in the south-west of Australia, far, far from “civilization”, Captain James Sterling founded a settlement, which in 1856 became the city of Perth. The rapid development of the city began with the mining of gold, iron ore, nickel and bauxite.
Modern Perth – a metropolis with a population of almost 2 million people, is the 4th largest city in Australia after Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and the capital of the state of Western Australia.Calm and very sunny Perth is extremely attractive for tourists. The city is replete with not only buildings made of glass and concrete, but also retains the coziness and charm of antiquity – on the streets of Perth you can find many buildings of the 19th century, carefully restored for posterity. And of course, there was a place for nature in this city – an abundance of shady green parks, a mild Mediterranean climate and an azure coast with the blue smooth surface of the Indian Ocean.
One of the main attractions of this wonderful city is the botanical garden.By autumn, the most extraordinary flowers here delight the eye and enchant tourists and local residents. In search of amazing plants, you can also look at the “King’s Park” in the heart of the city.
Mid-afternoon stroll along the Fremantle Harbor area and take a cruise boat down the Swan River from Perth to Fremantle, Perth, where you will find the famous market and many waterfront cafes.
You can return to the urban environment by visiting the art gallery or the Old Court, where, in the Museum of Justice, you can try on a real judge’s robe.We recommend visiting the Museum of Western Australia in search of the skeleton of a blue whale and fragments of a huge meteorite that fell millions of years ago on the territory of what is now Australia. Also worth noticing is the wonderful Caversham Animal Park, where you can touch and see many unique Australian animals and of course the “local” quokka.
Also in Perth is the most important mint in Australia “MINT”, where many coins and bills of the Australian dollar are still produced.Anyone can come here to see the Museum of Australian Currency and learn about how the most advanced technology of “plastic” banknotes was invented in Australia today.
Near Perth is also the beautiful island of Rotnest, famous for its beautiful beaches, azure waters of the Indian Ocean and an abundance of wildlife, especially small quokas. The Quokka is one of the smallest marsupial mammals found only on Rotnest Island.
During the period from September to December, you can also observe migrating whales in Perth, of which there are so many that it is almost impossible not to see them. For this purpose, whale watching cruise ships depart daily from Perth. We suggest you watch cruises from Perth here.
And when you feel like having fun, you should definitely go to Northbridge – an area famous for its pubs, restaurants and discos.
