Shu uemura review: Eyelash Curler – Best-Selling Professional Favorite Makeup Tool

Shiseido vs Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler Review

Ever since I started loving makeup, I have only used four eyelash curlers ever. The first one was the original Sephora Lash Curler which I ditched right away after a few uses because it simply didn’t work for my eye shape. The second one is the Japonesque Go Curl Curler which is a plastic curler that I still use but I mostly reserve it for traveling, and the third and fourth ones are these Shiseido and Shu Uemura Eyelash Curlers which are the ones I reach out for most of the time.

For someone with short, straight, sparse lashes, and small hooded eyes, there aren’t a lot of choices for me when it comes to eyelash curlers. In fact, it can be daunting to find one, especially one that actually works. For some reason, I just can’t use a standard lash curler because I also have flat eyelids and most lash curlers tend to be very curved and wide. Both the Shiseido and Shu Uemura ones seem to fit the bill for what I want, but they’re not exactly the same, although both are cult-favorites.

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler (20.34 USD) – This was love at first curl. This lash curler is quite flat compared to most standard lash curlers out there and a little narrower too. I like that this curls the lashes precisely and even accurately. I don’t have to put a lot of pressure on my lashes whenever I curl with this and most of the time I only have to do the curling process twice. Also, this catches most of my lashes most of the time and I never had any pinching issues.

Shiseido Eyelash Curler (22 USD) – This lash curler is almost identical to the Shu Uemura one in terms of flatness. However, this is a bit wider than the Shu Uemura and this costs a bit more. I like this a lot but I’ve had a few lid pinching issues with this and this doesn’t seem to catch all my lashes especially the tiny ones along the corner of my eye. This also tends to curl only after doing the process three times or even four. I do like the soft bouncy silicone pads that this lash curler came with.

Therefore, I tend to look for my Shu Uemura ones every time I curl my lashes. I still reach for my Shiseido’s but I have to be a bit more careful when using it because of the pinching. While both lash curlers don’t require force or pressure to curl the lashes (they also come with gentle pads) and both don’t cut them either, I have a strong preference for the Shu Uemura ones. It’s perfect for Asian eyes, small eyes, hooded eyes, and for those with short stick-straight lashes as well. I have yet to investigate the Surratt Beauty Relevée Lash Curler (34 USD) that everyone’s talking about. Will report soon.

Review and Comparison: Shu Uemura S Curler

If there is one item in my stash that became an involuntary witness to my triumphs and downfalls, it has to be the iconic shu uemura eyelash curler. Okay that’s overly-dramatic lady, what I’m trying to say is that this original curler remains a great ally in the last eight or so years since I had it.

That’s why I have very high expectations when shu uemura released the new “s curler” ($24). Will it dethrone its predecessor?

Before we go to my formal review, I want to ask if you have ever ordered online from shu uemura. I cannot for the life of me understand their slowest (yeah in superlative degree) shipping policy. Would you believe I received this curler after one month in transit? such a bummer! I’m not ordering online again (said no woman ever, haha). Anyways, let’s go to the meat of the matter.

What the website says about the new s curler: “The innovative new s curler fits any eye shape and offers precise application so that you can really emphasize parts of your lashes without pinching skin, thanks to its small structure without side-bars. It is compact and portable, allowing you to curl even the shortest of lashes due to its non-sidebar and angle of the padding.

It’s truly an essential piece that you’ll fall in love with instantly”.

Here it is upclose:

And for comparison, here’s a side-by-side photo of the original shu uemura eyelash curler and new s curler. You can see that the s curler is definitely smaller and slimmer. It is slightly concave with white pad on top and black pad at the bottom.

Pictures say thousand and one words so let’s do a blow-by-blow comparison of my lashes using the original and new s curlers.

What I like about the s curler: you can definitely tell from the photo that my lashes look more curled and lifted compared to the original curler. Since it’s slimmer in structure, you can curl your inner lashes as you please. I think women with smaller eyes will benefit more from this so-called innovation.

What I don’t like about the s curler: it is time-consuming my lovelies. To get the curl effect, you have to crimp your lashes by section, starting from roots to end, moving from side to side.

It took me all of nine crimps to get the look I wanted. So this ain’t your I’m-rushing-but-I-want-to-look-nice secret tool. Also, that white pad keeps popping out which makes me wonder why is it there in the first place- to protect my skin from accidental pinching? I was even more careful because it sits so close to my lids. And since curling and applying mascara are the last two steps whenever I do my eye makeup, poor white pad gets stained pretty much all the time. It’s not for the OC like moi!

With that said, you bet I still prefer the original eyelash curler because of ease, function, and proven longevity.

What’s your holy grail lash curler?

03 May Review, Photos, Hairstyle Trend 2017, 2018: Shu Uemura Urban Moisture Hydro-Nourishing Deep Treatment, Double Serum

Posted at 11:39h in Hair by Ron Robinson

Be aggressive against aggressors. Summer is coming so it’s time to start practicing good haircare habits. Don’t let pollution, sun exposure and other daily obstacles damage your hair.

Shu Uemura’s latest collection: Urban Moisture, can help to protect and repair hair that’s been left dry, dull and weak due to these harsh elements.

Nourish damaged hair by starting with the Hydro-Nourishing Deep Treatment ($68) a treatment masque for thick, dry hair that enhances softness and suppleness.  Hair is nourished and more manageable. The lightweight formula enters the hair fiber to soften and smooth while protecting against future dryness.

  1. Apply a quarter-size amount of the hair masque onto palms.
  2. Massage through wet hair from mid-lengths to ends.
  3. Leave on for 5-10 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

The lightweight formula feels luxuriously hydrating on hair without weighing it down. Once you rinse it off, hair instantly feels softer and healthier.

The Hydro-Nourishing Double Serum ($38) is about to be your new best friend. It’s a leave-in hair serum that has the unique combination of two complimentary serums that work together to nourish and shield the hair’s surface. Used on damp or dry hair, this hair serum can be layered with styling products to create hydrated and healthy styles.  Even thought it looks like an oil, it mists onto hair with a light texture that

won’t leave your hair looking or feeling greasy.

Shake the bottle to mix the two phases before use. On damp hair: spray 4-8 pumps to washed and towel-dried hair from the mid-lengths to ends. On dry hair: spray 2-3 pumps and massage from the mid-lengths to ends.

Smells heavenly and feels great. Hair dries to a silky soft texture that is shiny and healthy.

REVIEW & SWATCHES | Shu Uemura Murakami Holiday Collection

It’s that time of the year again where every makeup company is buzzing about their new holiday collections and Shu Uemura definitely has one of the most exciting ones this year! As in holidays past, they have teamed up with Takashi Murakami for a limited edition collection featuring his iconic flower motif.
To start off, I wanted to share this 4-piece premium brush set with a cute zip-around storage pouch. Included are brushes for face, cheeks, and eyes. These are travel-sized as the pouch is about the size of my outstretched hand and the brush handles are shorter than typical full-sized brushes. Although they have a lightweight feel, the bristles themselves are soft and will be excellent for on-the-go use. The pouch also has a pocket on the opposing side so you can throw in larger makeup items or other brushes you may like to take with you.
One of my favorite Shu Uemura items of all time is their classic eyelash curler so I was jazzed to see this limited edition one included! This is full-sized and coated in a sexy all-black finish (hiding those eyeliner and mascara stains) with a cheerful rubber Murakami smiling flower. For the eyes and face, there are two Cosmic Blossom Eye & Cheek Palettes and two Blossom-Nova Eye Trios in Cosmikawaii for the warm-toned sets and Cosmicool for the cool-toned sets.
I found the Cosmikawaii sets to be colorful but it’s also possible to wear it as a neutral since the purples are muted. The shimmer tones on the far right and the pink at the bottom are more sheer with an almost glittery effect versus a pigmented shadow but can be dabbed on inner eye corners or in the center of the lid for an extra pop.

For the Cosmicool sets, there are again 3 sheer glitter shades and 4 main shadows which, as the name implies, are cool. I actually really love the purples here because they have a lovely iridescence which is so tough to pick up on camera! But trust me, they are gorgeous.

The one downside for both palettes is that I found the matte shades to be patchy. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by the plethora of smooth mattes popping up here and there but these do take a bit of working to blend out evenly.

There are 5 lipsticks in the collection with 3 being Rouge Unlimited Sheer Shines with pink prints and 2 Rouge Unlimited with a red print. Although the Rouge Unlimited is supposed to be a more opaque texture, these all applied quite glossy and moisturizing with a sheer finish. I do love that the cap is clear so you can see exactly which color you are grabbing. Another fantastic everyday type of lipstick to keep in your purse. For eyeliners, there are 4 Cosmic Drawing Pencils which are silky smooth and smudgeproof. The exciting one here is obviously Comet Brown which to me looks more like a metallic orange than brown. Also don’t be misled by the decidedly pink packaging, it’s not at all pink. It’ll be fun to switch things up and use this to line my lower lash line when I want a lighter, Indian-summer effect.

The entire collection is available now at Shu Uemura with my personal favorites being the lash curler and lipsticks. Definitely check it out if you are a fan of Murakami or just want to add some extra smiles to your makeup collection! 🙂

Readers, which is your favorite pick from the collection? Let me know in the comments below!

the raeviewer – a premier blog for skin care and cosmetics from an esthetician’s point of view: BEST OF

Shu Uemura is best known for their lovely lipstick selection and cult classic eyebrow pencils, but you may not have tried their skin care. A year ago I was recommending the Depsea line to those who needed basic hydrating products, but it was discontinued and reformulated. I wanted to share my updated list of favorites because there’s a sale which makes it the perfect time to stock up or purchase Mother’s Day gifts! Use promo code RAEVIEWFF for 20% off $50+ orders and 25% off $125+ orders plus free shipping. Valid from May 7 to May 16 on and
The new Maxi:Hydrability moisturizers are ideal for minimalists or to throw into a gym bag since both are 3-in-1 formulas! You get lotion, essence, and hydration in one pot. I use the Essence-in-Cream since I have very dry skin and it gives me balanced dewy skin with just a pea sized amount. No greasy residue whatsoever! This is one of the best moisturizers for this price range, especially considering it cuts down on prep time before my morning gym sessions.

Those with normal to oily skin should try the Essence-in-Gel which is actually an excellent priming moisturizer since it fills in pores a bit better. There is more silicone in this formula, but I think it really does help to smooth the skin and prevent oil break through in the T-zone. The shiny glass vs frosted glass packaging is a nice touch for those who require or want both.

Also new is the Sakura:Hydrability Rose Petal Mask and it’s absolutely worthy of the online hype. I’ve tried a couple other cult classic rose infused hydrating masks, but most of them only relieve surface dryness. Not only did the Sakura:Hydrability mask make my skin baby soft and smooth to the touch, my face felt comfortably hydrated throughout the day. The gel formula isn’t too sticky and quite subtly fragranced so this is truly suitable for all skin types. I leave it on for ten minutes and use it two or three times a week! If you are in the market for a new eye cream, do try the latest Ultime8 launch. It’s one of the most memorable eye creams I have tried at any price range! I do wish it came in pump packaging but the signature ombre glass is very elegant. The formula feels extra silky and softens the skin without making my eye makeup slip or crease, not too much silicone. It’s not so rich that it causes milia or weighs down my eyelids. I normally use an eye gel but lately I have noticed my crow’s feet were starting to extend so I use this Ultime8 Sublime eye and lip cream in the mornings and I can visibly see that it helps.
Lastly, the Skin Perfector is an oil that is shaking up my routine. Shu Uemura recommends using 3 drops in the morning and 5 drops at night after your normal skin care, but I do not use it as skin care. I prefer to treat it as an oil primer to prep for base makeup. Additionally, you can add a drop to your liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer to help it blend out more easily. I am obsessed with oils and have tried so many, but this Skin Perfector has the sleekest dropper I’ve ever seen and absorbs faster than most! Even if you have oily skin, you shouldn’t be afraid to try this one.

The Cult Classic Cleanser That Legit Wipe It All!

Have you guys been hearing all the raves about the cleansing oils from Shu Uemura😍? Many beauty experts claim that the Shu Uemura cleansing oil has been one of their holy grail products and a regular part of their daily skincare routine. This has got us curious to know more about the product and its effectiveness! So, few of us from Beauty Insider got our hands on the iconic Shu Uemura cleansing oil to find out for ourselves if it is worth the money and the talks! Now, we’ve tried quite a lot cleansers before but this one surely stands out! Wanna know why? Then continue reading our Shu Uemura cleansing oil review (we’ve spilled all the goods and bads exclusive for you😉)

What is The Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil About?

First introduced by Mr Shu Uemura back in 1967, the Shu Uemura cleansing oil has been the Japanese brand’s star player ever since!. Today, the original Shu Uemura cleansing oil evolved to a range of cleansing oils that cater to all different types of skin and concerns. It is universally loved that Shu Uemura claims that one bottle of this cleansing oil is sold in every 7 seconds worldwide. Now, isn’t that fascinating?

Our Honest Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Review

There are currently six Shu Uemura cleansing oils and knowing us we got them all and we put to the test. Each one has a different formula designed to be suited to certain skin types or preferences. However, we noticed all of them perform similarly in terms of how well they emulsified with water and also how they removed makeup. What sets them apart is the suitability for different skin types and oh, we also notice the difference in terms of texture and smell between them. They all come in various size options and we got the 150 ml options. Below, are our detailed Shu Uemura cleansing oil review on each of the cleansing oil!

1. Shu Uemura High-Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil

Let’s start our Shu Uemura cleansing oil review, with this cult classic. This cleansing oil is in fact the first-ever one to be launched in the collection. Today, it has evolved into a unique formula with ingredients designed for waterproof make-up. This one is particularly suitable for sensitive skin and among all the other cleansers this one has the most emollient medium-weight smooth feel. And it def leaves the skin completely clean and soft! In terms of effectiveness, it does remove thick makeup in one go but as for eye makeup it didn’t take off 100% of the mascara but it was a very good first pass to remove most of it. For the face makeup, it can effectively remove sunscreen, foundation, powder and everything else without stripping the skin.

Rating: 7/10

Price: $50.00 (150ml)

Where to Buy: Sephora Singapore

2. Shu Uemura Porefinist2 Refreshing Cleansing Oil

The next one in our Shu Uemura cleansing oil review is the POREfinist refreshing cleansing oil. It is designed for acne-prone/oily skin which explains the lightweight texture. In fact, it is the lightest weight option among all the oil. Also, it smells the best too (has a floral petal scent) It does effectively remove excess oil and dirt from pores without leaving the skin oily and greasy. Honestly, among all the other cleansing oil by Shu Uemura, this one has the strongest cleansing power. However, it is a bit too strong for daily use so only buy this if you have oily skin. It managed to remove thick cakey makeup in just one shot!!!!

Rating: 8/10

Price: $50.00 (150ml)

Where to Buy: Sephora Singapore

3. Shu Uemura Anti/Oxi+ Pollutant & Dullness Cleansing Oil

The Anti/Oxi+ cleansing oil is designed particularly for ageing and mature skin. It is infused with moringa and green tea extracts that can remove pollutants and balance out the skin tone. However, it does have a fairly strong scent wasn’t quite pleasing for us, maybe you would like it cuz we all have a different preference.   In terms of cleansing though, this oil is super duper good! It removed all traces of makeup and (mascara included) without stripping away the skin’s moisture. It leaves the skin looking completely refreshed with a smooth feel and the best part is, it does not irritate the skin!

Rating: 8/10

Price: $55.00

Where to Buy: Sephora Singapore

4. Shu Uemura Blanc Chroma Cleansing Oil

The Shu Uemura Blanc Chroma Cleansing Oil is our personal favourite because it absorbs quickly into the skin and is loaded skin brightening ingredients. It is suitable for all skin types and works best for combination skin. In just two weeks of using, we can see clear results for brightening with this one. It has a very subtle scent and can remove all makeup in just one swipe.  We love this one in particular for the way it makes the skin clean and soft. We swear our skin felt baby smooth after using this!

Rating: 9/10

Price: $55. 00

Where to Buy: Sephora Singapore

5. Shu Uemura Nutri Nectar

This is one of the newest cleansing oil from Shu Uemura and the most unique one of them all. Unlike the other cleansing oils, the Nutri Nectar has a thicker almost gel-like texture and it is also infused with a natural scent that can complete your whole skin healing ritual. Unlike the other cleansing oils, this one won’t slide into the eyes as easily as the fluid options. It is designed for all skin types including sensitive skin and was definitely one of the most gentle feelings. It also has skin-calming Acai, magnolia that can replenish and rejuvenate the skin.

Rating: 9/10

Price: $55.00

Where to Buy: Sephora Singapore

6. Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil

Last but not least in our Shu Uemura cleansing oil review is the Ultime8 Sublime. This cleansing oil is the option for those with dry skin. It has a  combination of eight precious botanical origin oils that are enriched with life-energising plants. If you are looking for a hydrating and nourishing oil this one the best fit for you. It can protect and renew the skin with an ample amount of moisture. With a cashmere-like texture, this cleansing oil has the richest ingredients and benefits! It is also super effective in removing all traces of face and eye makeup and leaves the skin feeling plump and soft.

Rating: 10/10

Price: $65.00

Where to Buy: Sephora Singapore

Our Final Verdict on The Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil

Overall, all of the Shu Uemura cleansing oils are worth the investment. Though they are on the pricey side, but it is totally worth it so it is not one of those products that people get for the sake of fancy spending on a high-end makeup cleanser. To be honest, we are not a fan of luxury skincare too but this one is REALLLY GOOOOOOD! Make sure, to get the right cleansing oil for your skin type and enjoy the maximum benefits of the oils! If I were a fan of cleansing oil this Shu Uemura one could have been a favourite of mine.

Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil Shampoo Gentle Radiance – Yads Cauchi

It’s not often a product leaves an imprint on my heart as big as the moon. Only on some occasions. And last week when I was sent Shu Uemura’s Cleansing Oil Shampoo, Gentle Radiance – $68.00, it did just that. (BUT not before I had a little… ‘SERIOUSLY? Cleansing oil for your hair? What does this mean? Do we need to double cleanse our hair as well as our face now? How much time will this take? OMG I’m tired already just thinking about it!’ moment.)

Anyway, this product is being released to celebrate 50 years of Shu Uemura’s innovative cleansing oil (which if you haven’t tried you should totally get your face onto stat – however I should warn you, it’s a tad expensive…but so worth it if you’re a skincare aficionado! It seriously is the best ever!)

However, let’s get back to the cleansing oil shampoo, because this product is seriously where it’s at!

As a lady with oily roots and super dry ends I was naturally a little hesitant to see how an oil based shampoo worked. And prior to its use my brain had a jumble of questions floating around in it like… ‘Would I use it on its own? What shampoo should I follow it with? Can it be used every time you wash your hair? Would it be ok to eat a whole bowl of potatoes for dinner?’

In fact, I think it’s safe to say that the entire pre-shampooing moment was a little confusing/stressful for me. Alas, in the end I bit the bullet and just gave it a go. Because you know what? I’m not sure if there is a ‘correct’ way to use this shampoo but I will describe how I used it for you all and you can use that as a guide… or ignore how I did it completely.

It’s up to you guuuuurlfrens. (And boyfreeeens.)

Anyway, for an extra moisture hit to my super dry ends I’ve been doing this thing lately on the morning’s I plan to wash my hair, where I scoop out a little coconut oil (not much, maybe like a tablespoon) and rub it through my crusty, dry ends. Then I leave it in my hair while I make Javier’s (ten) breakfast(s) and organise his collection of a gazillion trucks ready for a day of play (which normally takes a couple of hours.)

I love this trick, because 1. It’s super easy and convenient and 2. MULTITASKING/saves a lot of time. I used to sleep with coconut oil in my hair too although I found it actually left my hair oilier and was hard to wash out…not to mention all the shiz it left all over my pillow/my husband complaining all the time SO I highly recommend this way now.

Plus, when you’re using a cleansing oil as a shampoo FIRST then you get the ultimate cleansing wash that removes any leftover coconut oil residue and build up! It’s a WIN WIN WIN situation! I seriously don’t know how I’ve lived without this product before.

Anyhoo, after its use I then follow with one of my other shampoos (currently using Kevin Murphy’s Hydrate Me Wash) and conditioner SO in fact the entire process is pretty seamless (if you ignore the whole toddler destroying your house while you’re in the shower bit.)

SO, basically I just replaced one of my normal shampoos with the new oil based one and my hair was much softer and fresher than before. I’m not sure if I would use this everyday though (if you’re one of those peeps that washes their hair every day?) However, if you’re only washing your hair a couple or a few times a week then I think this product would be fab. (Plus, that’s all I can really be bothered to do these days. Washing your hair is a mammoth task!)

Also; if you’re worried about the whole oil in your hair thing – don’t be. The secret to this product is in the whole ‘emulsification’ thing. (I.e the mixing of normally un-mixable liquids).

So basically when the fluid oils come into contact with water they actually draw out impurities from the tips of your scalp to the ends of your hair. Like clogging, dirt and pollution – and then they’re all washed away! This is followed by tiny lipids that help penetrate and nourish your strands, so the shampoo is equally as hydrating as it is cleansing. Plus, your scalp’s natural barrier isn’t affected.

The only downfall I see, is the fact that Shu Uemura products are a bit expensive. However  if you’re not the type of person to wash your hair every day then your cost to use ratio will totally be worth it! Also, this product is designed to suit all hair types. My hair type is dry AF and it worked wonders. However there are also anti-dandruff and anti-oil versions in the range, if you’d like to try some other ones/are super specific about what you use.

Anyway, that’s it! Would love to know if you try it! Love you bye xo

90,000 Shu Uemura: the story of a brand from Japan

How the dream of an acting career led the makeup artist Shu Uemura to create a brand that is now known all over the world

Text: Victoria Volkova
Updated August 3, 2020

One of the most famous beauty brands from Japan today is Shu Uemura. The famous hydrophilic oils and other skin care products are popular, as well as decorative cosmetics, which are appreciated by both experimenters and classics lovers. The brainchild of make-up artist Shu Uemura has been living for over 50 years and continues to develop actively.

The path to the beauty industry

Shu Uemura was born in Tokyo in 1928. Since childhood, he dreamed of playing in the theater. But an acting career was out of the question, since the boy was haunted by health problems. The main task of the parents was to cure their son, therefore, questions of his creative realization were of interest to them insofar as.

Having recovered from his illness, the young man entered the Tokyo Academy of Beauty and Hairdressing. The idea to change direction in search of himself came to him just during rehabilitation. It is no coincidence that he chose this path: Uemura hoped to get, if not on the stage or the big screen, then behind the scenes of the world of cinema and theater. And he got his way.

© shuuemura

At the academy, he was the only young man out of 130 students. Uemura’s efforts made her classmates smile.Meanwhile, fate was already preparing a chance for him, which he did not fail to take advantage of. The producer of the film “Joe Butterfly”, which was filmed in Japan in the late 50s, turned to the director of the academy for help: an assistant make-up artist with knowledge of English was required on the set. Uemura approached in all respects – the young man’s diligence was known.

© Shu Uemura

Working in a film crew became an opportunity for him to train, honing the skills of a make-up artist. He coped so well with the duties that he soon found himself in Hollywood. At first, I was still as an assistant. To get out of the shadows, chance helped him. On the set of the film “My Geisha” Uemura had to replace the sick make-up artist and turn actress Shirley MacLaine into a geisha.

© Shu Uemura

The transformation was so successful that the young make-up artist started talking in the circles of Hollywood professionals. He was increasingly invited to film crews, and no longer an assistant.

Start Shu Uemura

Despite the fact that in Hollywood he was invited to work in large projects with celebrities of the first magnitude, Uemura wanted more.

In 1965 he again moved to Japan and, having collected all his experience, opened a school of make-up under his own name. Here he teaches students the art of creating images with cosmetics. But this is not the end of it.Already in 68, Uemura launches production of its own products. This is how the Shu Uemura company was born (which was originally called Japan Make-up Inc. and only in the 76th acquired the name of its creator).

© shuuemura

The tool that started the history of Shu Uemura was not lipstick, mascara or foundation. Uemura made his debut with an oil that simultaneously cleanses and nourishes the skin.

© shuuemura

It is no coincidence that Maestro took up cosmetics for skin care. Hollywood experience gave him the understanding that masking imperfections with makeup cannot be the solution to all problems. He saw what a load on the skin the make-up becomes, how hard it is to take it off. And I remembered the secrets of Elizabeth Taylor and other stars who took off makeup with oil.

© Shu Uemura

This is how the first Shu Uemura product was born, the Unmask Cleansing Oil.It was an amazing remedy: on contact with water, the oil texture became an emulsion and slightly lather, helping to effectively and gently remove makeup, as well as cleanse the skin in general.

Japanese beauty brand

Shu Uemura make-up collections were not long in coming. The first Uemura was named Flaggy, inspired by the racing aesthetics. She made a splash thanks to bold advertising: the makeup artist repeated the models for one of the shootings of the checker from the starting flags for centuries.Colleagues in the shop considered it shocking. But Uemura only suggested changing the attitude towards makeup, making it a means of self-expression.

© shuuemura

The noise subsided and Uemura’s approach was accepted. For some 10 years, the brand has not only gained popularity – it has become a cult. The army of Shu Uemura fans is growing day by day.

© shuuemura

Unlike many others in the industry, Uemura has chosen to give equal attention to skincare and bold makeup solutions. In the laboratories of the brand, they are constantly working to improve the quality of products and expand their range. For example, hydrophilic oil is now available from Shu Uemura in several formulas, which we covered in detail in this article.

© shuuemura

As for makeup, here Shu Uemura supports the creation of memorable images and produces everything you need for this: colored eyeliners, large palettes of shadows, lush false eyelashes (they come with rhinestones and with an unusual “fur” effect!).

© shuuemura

The quality of Shu Uemura tools is also well known. The eyelash curler of this brand is considered the best.

How to use such a tool, we described in detail in this video.

Shu Uemura Cosmetics Today

From year to year, Shu Uemura are expanding their makeup and care collections. There are make-up products, without which the brand can no longer be imagined:

  • Petal Skin foundations with a delicate texture of sakura petals

  • cushion (not only for an even tone, but also for a fresh blush – Fresh Cushion Blush, which we talked about in detail here),

Shu Uemura Hydrophilic Oil – Reviewed

Shu Uemura Hydrophilic Oil with anti / oxi + antioxidants is considered the bestseller of the Shu Uemura brand, which all sensitive “types” of skin know about. It’s time for me to test this product to tell you all the pros and cons of a cleansing oil.

Description of Shu Uemura Hydrophilic Oil

Anti / Oxi + Hydrophilic Cleansing Oil is a makeup remover. He can do waterproof mascara or insidious bb-cream.

Thanks to the selected complex of oils in the composition, they easily spread over the skin, instantly mix with cosmetics and effectively remove makeup.

The unique emulsifying formula allows you to thoroughly cleanse the skin without disturbing its ph-balance.

There are 4 types of cleansing oils in the Shu Uemura line:

  • protection against negative environmental influences – anti / oxi + pollutant and dullness clarifying cleansing oil (green bottle)
  • global recovery for all skin types – ultime8∞ sublime beauty cleansing oil (brown bottle)
  • for oily skin prone to oily skin – porefinist anti-shine fresh cleansing oil (pink bottle)
  • for all skin types – high performance balancing cleansing oil advanced formula (yellow bottle)

How to use Shu oil Uemura

  • Put oil on your fingers – this is 3-4 presses on the dispenser
  • Massage the product over your face
  • Moisten your hands with water, continue cleansing
  • at the end of the procedure, wash with warm water

The full name of my product sounds like this: Shu Uemura Skin Purifier Cleansing Beauty Oil Premium A / O Advanced Formu la and belongs to the category “protection from the negative impact of the external environment”.

Overall impression of the result

  • Hydrophilic oil removes the most durable makeup in seconds
  • Has a liquid (neither gel nor cream) texture
  • Easily and quickly rinses off without feeling a film on the face

Exactly 3- the third point turned out to be the most controversial among bloggers. Personally, I have not felt anything that would make me wash my face again and again in order to get rid of the feeling of film. Yes, this is oil, it is greasy, but if you use it correctly and wash your face thoroughly, then you will not feel any film.

Technical characteristics of oil

  • Convenient plastic packaging
  • The presence of a pump saves money, since two clicks are enough to have enough money for the whole face
  • Light pleasant aroma of green tea

Disadvantages of Shu Uemura hydrophilic oil

One and only drawback regarding any oil that I have used: when I wash off the makeup from my eyes, I get an unpleasant feeling of a veil and a desire to get rid of it as soon as possible!

If you regularly use permanent foundation and torment your face with cotton pads to get rid of stubborn mascara or lipstick, then it’s time to settle this issue by purchasing Shu Uemura hydrophilic oil.

Shu Uemura POREfinist2 Cleansing Oil Review

Shu Uemura POREfinist2 Cleansing Oil

Today I want to share my impressions of the skin cleansing oil Shu Uemura POREfinist2 Sakura Refreshing Cleansing Oil

English summary:

Shu’s cleansers are the best cleansers that I have ever put on my skin, the oil in the cleanser makes your cleanser leave your skin feeling fresh and refined.
POREfinist2 Cleansing Oil removes makeup softly whilst hydrating at the same time, the cleanser made my skin feel soft and hydrated.

Created fifty years ago, oils for cleansing the skin from Shu Uemura are still at the peak of popularity. The composition contains the most advanced caring ingredients, as well as ingredients that can remove even persistent makeup from the skin.

I have been buying only these oils for several years and for me they remain the best!

On contact with water, the hydrophilic oil becomes an emulsion and is easily washed off the skin along with impurities. What is important for my dry skin, after using oils Shu Uemura there is no feeling of tightness or dryness – the skin becomes hydrated and soft.

I have tried several types of oils from Shu Uemura, and today I want to talk about POREfinist2 Sakura Refreshing Cleansing Oil.

Hydrophilic Oil POREfinist2 is a second, more advanced version of Porefinist Cleansing Oil, with an improved formula (although better, Shu oils are famous for their gentle on the skin).

The new oil contains extracts of sakura petals and sake, obtained with the participation of yeast fungi from sakura trees. The complex of these ingredients acts on porphyrin, the substance responsible for deeply clogging pores. It also reduces sebum production and works as an antioxidant to support skin health.

In addition to getting rid of oily shine and pore contamination, the oil POREfinist is designed to remove even persistent makeup without leaving a trace, for this, the product contains tiny oil molecules that can attach makeup particles and remove it in one go.
The product has a very liquid texture and floral aroma, based on essential oils of young sakura.

Oil POREfinist2 Sakura Refreshing Cleansing Oil is designed to cleanse normal to oily skin, but it does not dry out my dry skin, but, on the contrary, leaves a feeling of hydration (despite the fact that hydration from cleansers I do not expect at all, but in this tool, this effect was a pleasant surprise)

It is so soft, delicate and delicate, and when water is added to the skin, it becomes a light emulsion that removes all makeup, even persistent BB creams.

POREfinist2 does not irritate the skin, does not leave a film-like feeling on the face, easily rinses off, cleans pores well. But I did not notice the promised narrowing of the enlarged pores.

Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Isopropyl Myristate, Capric / Caprylic Triglycerides, Polyglyceryl-10 dioleate, Phenoxyethanol, Polybutene, Polyglyceryl-2 oleate, Dicaprylyl ether, Tocopherol, Esqualane, Simmondsia Chinensis Oil-EGentus Oil , Capryloyl salicylic acid, Propylene Glycol, Capryloyl glycine, Sarcosine, Prunus Cerasus Extract, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum Bark Extract, Prunus Yedoensis Branch / leaf Extract, Parfum.

Summary: Shu Uemura POREfinist2 Cleansing Oil – very gently and gently cleanses the skin, removing even persistent cosmetics and does not cause dryness or tightness, but, on the contrary, moisturizes.

Review of Shu Uemura cosmetics and facial skin care from Yuji Asano

– What is the most important step in skin care as a makeup artist?

– I believe that the main thing is cleanliness, proper cleansing of the skin.If this condition is met, the makeup will lie flat, and even without makeup, the skin will look great.

– Why do you prefer cleansing oils?

– Cleanliness is very important, but washing too often can damage the skin. Hydrolipid balance is the optimal ratio of fat (sebum) and water on its surface. When you wash your face, this balance can be disturbed. However, no matter how much you use hydrophilic oil, it does not upset the balance of the skin. Doesn’t dry it out or make it too greasy, despite the fact that it contains oils. Why do we prefer hydrophilic oil? Because it is very gentle on the skin, it can be used every day.

– Is it due to the oily structure?

– Yes, due to oils.

– Opinions differ. Some say that a hydrophilic oil is enough for a quality cleansing. This is followed by the tonic and the usual care. And someone is convinced that after the oil, you must also use a foam for washing. How was it originally conceived?

– I think the foam is superfluous here. The only exception is the removal of serious evening make-up or theatrical make-up. In such cases, the hydrophilic oil may not be enough to remove all the makeup particles, and a foam will also be needed. But in my daily care, for example, I only use hydrophilic oil. It’s enough.

– An interesting and, as it seems to me, unique product is the All-in-one minute mask. How does it give such an enchanting effect: everything in one minute?

– I’m very glad that you like her! This was my idea. In the morning there is always very little time to get ready, and I wanted to come up with a versatile and practical product that would instantly even out skin tone – for applying makeup and, as practice shows, just for natural beauty.I consulted with professionals for a long time, thinking about what to invent for morning care. At first I was told that it should not be a cloth mask, but a regular one that needs to be washed off. But it takes too much time. Who has an extra 20 minutes for a traditional mask in the morning? Therefore, I chose the fabric option, the most comfortable one. What are the advantages of this mask? You put it on your face – and you can do whatever you want: prepare breakfast for the family, have a quiet breakfast, or get ready for work.

– What’s so magical about the mask? What makes her work this way?

– There is no one miracle ingredient. This effect is created by a combination of active ingredients. The decisive factor is skin hydration.

– What is the maestro’s favorite skin care products?

– This is the most frequently asked and probably the most difficult question. I cannot single out one thing. All products go through my hands, some of the products I create myself. And for me, each of them is like a child – there is no favorite.I can name the products that I like now, but tomorrow, in a month, in a year, my opinion may change. Today my favorites are hydrophilic oil, concealer stick, All-in-one minute mask and all makeup tools – brushes, etc.

– Please share some tips on how to cover up various imperfections: fine wrinkles, blemishes. Do you have any secrets?

– Wrinkles and age spots or other imperfections appear due to a violation of a certain balance. What should we think about before camouflaging these shortcomings? About the condition of the skin. Therefore, first I recommend choosing the right care. And only then use tinting agents.

– Can you highlight a specific feature that makes a face fresh, youthful? Facial contour? Or maybe the eye area? What makes sense to pay attention to? Is there a detail that can quickly transform a face?

– Skin texture, I believe. You need to make your face shine. Some only paint their eyes. Because their radiance is also very important to emphasize. The same goes for the lips. To look younger, I recommend using a glossy lipstick instead of matte. In general, makeup accents are individual. But the texture of the skin and its healthy glow are, in my opinion, the most important thing. You don’t have to be young to be beautiful. Each face has its own flavor, something extraordinary.
