Dice-rolling mechanic receives support in MTG Forgotten Realms

Delina, Wild MageThe Deck of Many ThingsContact Other Plane

Dice rolling is a key part of Dungeons & Dragons gameplay but has only appeared in Magic: The Gathering through -Un sets, which are white-bordered “fun” sets. But in the D&D crossover Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, rolling a d20 is now in black-bordered Magic.

The inherent randomness of rolling dice is an adjustment non-Red players will have to get used to. Red is full of random mechanics, but other colors typically give you more information on the actions you’re about to take.

The cards in Adventures in the Forgotten Realms reward a variety of effects based on the number you roll. Some cards trigger on attack while others trigger with an activated ability.

The third day of Adventures in the Forgotten Realms spoilers revealed several dice-rolling cards that have Constructed implications.

Here are some of the best d20 cards from today’s spoilers.

Delina, Wild Mage

Image via WotC
  • Mana value: 3R
  • Type: Legendary Creature Elf Shaman
  • Rarity: Rare
  • Stats: 3/2
  • First ability: Whenever Delina, Wild Mage attacks, choose target Creature you control, then roll a d20.
  • Second ability: 1-14 | Create a tapped and attacking token that’s a copy of that Creature, except it’s not legendary and it has “Exile this Creature at end of combat.”
  • Third ability: 15-20 | Create one of those tokens, You may roll again.

Delina is receiving an errata from the spoiled card’s text. On the current card, the third ability says “Roll again” but the card players will find in print says “You may roll again.” This change was announced by principal Magic editor Matt Takab on Twitter.

Delina will generate value if she can attack. Whatever you roll, the effect is productive. Most of the time, you’ll attack and get a token copy of another attacking creature. Combine this ability with good enter-the-battlefield abilities and you’ll generate a lot of value. Terror of the Peaks is a great creature to pair with Delina.

Rolling a 15 to 20 is less likely, but if you can create two more tokens from Delina’s attack trigger, you should win the game.

The Deck of Many Things

Image via WotC
  • Mana value: Five mana
  • Type: Legendary Artifact
  • Rarity: Mythic Rare
  • First ability: Pay two mana, tap: Roll a d20 and subtract the number of cards in your hand. If the result is zero or less, discard your hand.
  • Second ability: 1-9 | Return a card at random from your graveyard to your hand.
  • Third ability: 10-19 | Draw two cards.
  • Fourth ability: 20 | Put a Creature card from any graveyard onto the battlefield under your control. When that Creature dies, its owner loses the game.

There’s so much going on with The Deck of Many Things. This card immediately pops out as a solid one or two of in Rakdos discard decks. Whether it’s Madness or regular reanimation, you’ll want your deck to be fine with the downside of potentially discarding your hand.

Unearth and Flashback spells will be good inclusions in a deck looking to run The Deck of Many Things. The one to 19 d20 abilities are good. Getting a card from your graveyard at random can be effective if you’re filling your graveyard with a purpose. Drawing two cards is fine.

Rolling a natural 20 is difficult to pull off, but if you do, it’s a game-winning effect. To roll a 20, you need to have an empty hand. If you can fulfill that condition and roll a 20, you can snatch a creature from a graveyard.

You’ll want to take a creature from your opponent’s graveyard because when that creature dies, its owner loses the game.

Contact Other Plane

Image via WotC
  • Mana value: 3U
  • Type: Instant
  • Rarity: Common
  • Keyword: Roll a d20.
  • First ability: 1-9 | Draw two cards
  • Second ability: 10-19 | Scry two, then draw two cards.
  • Third ability: 20 | Scry three, then draw three cards.

Blue players hate random effects. In a control deck, it’s important to have a plan and tilt the game in your favor. Contact Other Plane won’t be played in Standard until rotation, but it could be experimented with in several months.

This spell works because it’s an Instant. Half the time, it will draw two cards or Scry two then draw two cards. That seems fine for Standard, especially with the power level coming down with rotation.

Adventures in the Forgotten Realms releases on Magic Arena and Magic Online on July 8. A full global tabletop launch is set for July 23.

How to play Roll For It | Official Rules

Game Components

  • Rules
  • 30 Roll For It! cards
  • 24 dice (6 dice in 4 colors)

Each player chooses all six dice of one color.

Shuffle the Roll For It! cards and place the deck face down in the center of the table.

Deal three cards face up. If you’re playing with two decks and 5+ players, deal four instead.

All players roll two dice; the highest total goes first.

Tutorial Video

Game Play

Players take turns rolling their dice.

On your turn:

  1. Roll for it! Roll your dice once per turn. The number of dice available for you to roll will change during the game, so you’ll want to take great care in managing them as play progresses.

  2. Match it! Match the results of your roll with the dice images shown on the face-up Roll For It! cards, ignoring results that don’t match any images. You can spread your dice out among the cards, but each die can be matched to only a single image on any one card. Place a die next to a matched card, not on it.

Because all players are going after the same cards, multiple dice colors can be matched with a single card. Once a die is placed, it cannot be moved to another card. You may choose not to place a matching die or dice during your turn.

  3. Score it! You score a Roll For It! card as soon as you’ve matched all of its die images with dice of your own color; you cannot use other players’ dice to score a card.

A card is worth points equal to the number printed at the bottom. Place the scored card in front of you, creating a staggered score pile with points visible to all players.

All dice on a scored card are returned to their owners and can be used on the owner’s next turn. Immediately flip a new card from the deck to replace the scored card.

If you still have rolled dice available to match from this turn, you may match them with any of the face-up Roll For It! cards, including the one you just flipped.

Ending your turn: After you have rolled, matched, and scored qualified cards, your turn ends and play passes to the person on your left.

Matched dice remain with their cards until the cards are scored or unless you use the special Take Back rule at the beginning of your next turn.

Special Rule-Take Back

At the beginning of a player’s turn, before rolling his or her dice, that player may choose to take back ALL of his or her dice from the cards and then roll all six of them. Roll for it!

End of the game

The first player to score 40 or more points wins the game.

Delina’s Dice – Budget Standard with LegenVD on

Today’s Standard budget deck requires only 20 common, 12 uncommon and eight rare wildcards. This is a blue/red Delina’s Dice Rolling deck that will test your skills, and most importantly, your luck!

The centerpiece of the deck is Delina, Wild Mage. This card can potentially win the game in a single attack, assuming luck is on your side. To improve the odds, you can copy a Pixie Guide with Delina’s attack trigger. This will generate more copies of Pixie Guide, in turn improving your odds with each trigger. Barbarian Class has a similar effect and, when leveled up, can both deal extra damage and grant haste to the team, which can set up a surprise win out of nowhere.

To help assemble these different dice rolling synergies, you can count on Expressive Iteration, Seize the Spoils and Contact Other Plane. These cards will help churn through the deck until we find Delina and as many copies of Barbarian Class and Pixie Guide as you can get in play.

Rounding out the deck, you have two copies of Farideh, Devil’s Chosen. While not essential to the strategy, it does provide a nice card draw engine that can take some of the heat off Delina. Scion of Stygia offers instant speed interaction which can buy you more time to assemble the combo, while also being a decent target for Delina’s attack trigger, especially combined with a level two Barbarian Class.

Frost Bite is the reason why you’re playing with snow-covered basics and, alongside Thundering Rebuke, it provides cheap creature interaction.

The mana base includes Riverglide Pathway as the second rare card in the deck, a safe investment with plenty of decks that use it. The snow-covered basics are important for Frost Bite.

While the deck currently can’t be played as Best-of-Three in the 2022 Standard queue, I’ll provide some sideboard suggestions for anyone interested in playing it in regular Standard or the upcoming rotation.

When facing aggressive creature decks, you can bring in sweepers like Crush the Weak or Cinderclasm. Tundra Fumarole can potentially be a free removal spell if you can make use of the colorless mana. For grindy matchups, you can turn to card advantage engines like The Deck of Many Things or Wizard’s Spellbook, although the latter is most likely too expensive for Standard. Negate and Disdainful Stroke are always useful options to have access to and they play well alongside some of our instants like Contact Other Plane.

One land that could be worth including is Faceless Haven. You can’t play too many copies without compromising the rest of the mana base, but it can provide an extra angle of attack. Adding Faceless Haven might require the tapped Volatile Fjord to balance out the mana base. Den of the Bugbear could fill the same role while still providing colored mana. Glasspool Mimic is another utility land that can give us even more copies of Pixie Guide for the combo.

Rules of Card Games: Roller Coaster

A game in which you discard cards in a roller coaster fashion, the values going up, down and loop-the-loop, contributed by Kroc Camen

Any reasonable number can play, using a standard 52-card pack with two jokers (or two or more decks if there are a lot of players). The cards rank cyclically …-2-A-K-Q-J-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-A-K-… Suits are irrelevant.

Deal five cards to each player and stack the remainder of the deck centre face down on the table.

Goal: To be the first to discard all the cards from your hand.

The player to dealer’s left begins and play continues clockwise. At your turn you may discard an ascending or descending sequence of consecutive cards, placing them face up on top of the discard pile.

At the start, the discard pile is empty, and the first play must be a sequence of at least two adjacent cards. Subsequent plays consist of one or more card and must begin with a card adjacent in rank to the top card of the discard pile, which determines whether any further cards must be in ascending or descending sequence.

Sequences must be ascending or descending, not a mixture. For example, if the top card of the discard pile is a queen you may play just a king, or just a jack, or king-ace, or king-ace-two but not king-queen-jack and not jack-ten-nine-ten.

Ace is both high and low at the same time, so you can wrap around (“loop-the-loop”), i.e. Q K A 2 3, then the next player can go back again, e. g. 2 A K.

Jokers are wild cards and can take the place of any card to fill in gaps in your sequence. The only limit is that a Joker cannot be the first or last card of a sequence, so in order to play a joker you must play at least three cards (at least one before it and at least one after it).

If you cannot or do not wish to discard any cards then you must draw one from the deck, and it is the next player’s turn to play.

If the deck is empty, set aside the top card of the discard pile and flip the discard pile to make the new deck.

GTA Online Playing Cards Collectible Guide & Locations – High Roller Outfit

Rockstar loves sprinkling collectibles throughout the world of Grand Theft Auto Online and sending players on scavenger hunts. Finding every collectible in a set typically unlocks an exclusive reward, so it’s not like you pouring hours into combing over all of Los Santos is for naught.

Finding every Playing Card collectible to unlock the High Roller Outfit can be done much quicker too, if you follow our guide!

The Playing Card collectibles were added to GTA Online with the Diamond Casino & Resort update, one of the most anticipated DLCs up until its release. In keeping with the whole gambling theme of the DLC, the new collectibles you need to find are a deck of special playing cards, scattered across the entire game world. There are 54 in total that you need to find.

Upon completing the entire collection, you’ll unlock the swanky High Roller Outfit, an elegant red getup with a checked pattern. That’s not all in it for you though – every card found will reward you with chips to be used at the Casino. You’ll be rewarded with different amounts depending on how many you have collected.

The first five playing cards you find will award 100 chips each, and after that there is a cumulative 50 chip increase to the reward for finding subsequent cards. For example, the sixth card you find will grant 150 chips, and the seventh will grant 200. This keeps adding up until you find the final, 54th card, giving you 2,550 chips. The grand total of chips gained from finding cards is 66,650. Chips can be exchanged for GTA$ at the Diamond Casino at a rate of 1:1.

Deck of Illusions – Magic Items

This box contains a set of parchment cards. A full deck has 34 cards. A deck found as treasure is usually missing 1d20 − 1 cards.

The magic of the deck functions only if cards are drawn at random (you can use an altered deck of playing cards to simulate the deck). You can use an action to draw a card at random from the deck and throw it to the ground at a point within 30 feet of you.

An illusion of one or more creatures forms over the thrown card and remains until dispelled. An illusory creature appears real, of the appropriate size, and behaves as if it were a real creature except that it can do no harm. While you are within 120 feet of the illusory creature and can see it, you can use an action to move it magically anywhere within 30 feet of its card. Any physical interaction with the illusory creature reveals it to be an illusion, because objects pass through it. Someone who uses an action to visually inspect the creature identifies it as illusory with a successful DC 15 Intelligence (Investigation) check. The creature then appears translucent.

The illusion lasts until its card is moved or the illusion is dispelled. When the illusion ends, the image on its card disappears, and that card can’t be used again.

90,000 Commercials from Alfa-Bank and Sber angered Russians By a curious coincidence, during the last week, two large Russian banks immediately released commercials that caused an ambiguous reaction among Runet users (which in itself is not so frequent – when was the last time you were hooked bank advertising?).

The first was Alfa-Bank, traditionally striving for advertising creativity (I immediately recall the videos with Ivan Urgant, who this year accepted the symbolic red socks from Vladimir Pozner). This time, Alfa-Bank’s advertising campaign was presented by the popular rapper Morgenstern, who posted the video on his YouTube page. The video, shot in a deliberately provocative style, interested not only the rapper’s fans and caused polar reviews. Some viewers, not appreciating the obvious irony of the presentation, found the advertisement outrageous. Others, on the other hand, praised Alfa-Bank for its courage and sense of humor.

Sberbank (in this case, just like that, since the ecosystem as a whole was advertised) went in a sense the opposite way and made the hero of his video character half a century ago – Georges Miloslavsky from the cult comedy “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Profession” (the hero was revived with the help of deepfake technologies – overlay on the video with a modern actor of the right person and voice). The video begins with his famous phrase “Citizens! Keep your money in a savings bank! ”, After which Georges finds himself in 2020 and enjoys the possibilities of Sberbank services. Citizens of humor did not appreciate and did not hesitate to point out that the chosen character, although charming, is still a thief, and the reminder of Sber’s “kinship” with Soviet savings banks is not particularly appropriate. However, again, there were a lot of those who liked the video for its brightness and drive.

There are different ways to perceive such advertising, but one should give credit to the banks – they showed a non-trivial approach.Maybe this will become a new trend, and soon other banks will also delight us with original advertising?

“Conscience” and Possible Group appealed to unscrupulous debtors in commercials

Ordinary people became the voice of conscience in the new campaign of the Possible Group agency for the “Conscience” installment card (project of the QIWI group).

The campaign consists of 9 documentary stories. The project was directed by Sam Washington, who worked on videos for the brands Apple, Adidas, Netflix.Among the heroes of the videos were both invited actors and ordinary people telling real stories about their acquaintances.

Four out of nine video stories will be broadcast on federal and thematic channels: STS, TNT, NTV, Perviy, channels 2 × 2, TV 1000, Discovery. Five more stories were filmed specifically for Internet sites – they can be seen on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and on Yandex sites.

The peculiarity of the Internet broadcast of documentary stories is that each audience will find here a real character with a story close to themselves: a girl with a dog has a friend arrogantly borrowed money for a fifteenth new dress, a friend of the young hero decided to urgently buy himself a cryptocurrency, and the director’s neighbor sales of “Conscience” (he also decided to tell his story) were flooded with neighbors (although he lives on the top floor).

The campaign is supported by large-scale outdoor advertising in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The total coverage of the campaign in all channels is about 12 million people. It is possible that the #ImeySconscience campaign will continue with the involvement of user stories.

“Everyone has found themselves in a situation where, for some reason, they do not return their debt. Remember your feelings, what did you feel? Resentment, resentment, injustice, or maybe you just needed money, but it was embarrassing to demand it from a friend? Everyone should have a conscience. And now I mean not only the installment card. She will help with necessary and urgent purchases. And treat unscrupulous debtors with humor, like our heroes “, – says Pavel Davidovsky, Marketing Director of the Conscience installment card.

“We all wanted to do something that no one else in this category could say. This is how the call appeared: “Have a Conscience!”, We conveyed it on behalf of various people, inviting them to tell about their acquaintances who still have no conscience ”, – adds Oleg Palchinsky, creative director of Possible Group.

The problem of modern society: many still have no conscience. We have created a series of documentary stories in which real people who have not been repaid by their acquaintances turn to their debtors. #ImeySconscience

The section “Media library” has been updated in the virtual museum “Moscow – with care for history”, which contains video chronicles and documentaries. Now museum visitors can see 10 new videos dedicated to important events of the Great Patriotic War.

Most of the new videos are devoted to combat episodes of the Great Patriotic War. These include documentary videos about the first salvo of the legendary Katyusha on July 14, 1941, the liberation of Belgrade by the Red Army and Tito’s Yugoslav partisans, as well as a video about the US participation in World War II. In addition, one of the videos tells about the creation of a new helicopter “Omega”.

Cultural videos are also noteworthy.Among them are videos about the opening ceremony of the memorial plaque to director Konstantin Stanislavsky, the release of the color film by Alexander Rowe “The Little Humpbacked Horse” and the meeting of the All-Slavic Committee on March 24, 1944. Also, from documentary videos you can learn about educational work in schools during the Great Patriotic War.

Political episodes of military life did not stand aside. So, from several videos you can learn more about the conclusion on December 10, 1944 of an agreement of alliance and mutual assistance between the USSR and France, as well as about the decision to build the Mozhaisk defense line 120-130 kilometers from Moscow in July 1941.

An even larger number of documentaries, as well as other materials on the history of the Great Patriotic War, can be found on the website of the virtual museum “Moscow – Taking Care of History”. no US maps were used in videos about the new weapon

The images used in the computer videos about the new Russian weapons, which were broadcast during the President’s Address to the Federal Assembly, did not refer to specific countries, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the head of state, said.

He emphasized that “no maps were used there”, the videos show conditional geographic outlines.

“I see no reason to say that some US states are used there,” said Peskov.

The President’s message is not militaristic, the press secretary emphasized, and “this can in no way be considered the beginning of an arms race.” The presented new types of weapons are a guarantee of maintaining nuclear parity in the world, Russia’s response to the US withdrawal from the ABM Treaty and “to a very active process of creating a global missile defense system.”

Peskov recalled that back in 2003-2005, Putin said: Russia will not respond symmetrically to US plans to deploy missile defense. This is an asymmetric response, the presidential press secretary explained, – this is the development of strike systems capable of overcoming any missile defense systems.

Speaking with his Address, Putin said that any use of nuclear weapons against the Russian Federation or its allies would be considered “as an attack on our country, the response will be instantaneous and with all the ensuing consequences.

“Russia has the CSTO, it has other allied obligations. It is quite obvious here,” Peskov said, answering the question of which of the allies the president had in mind.

Also, the press secretary of the head of state said that the Kremlin categorically denies accusations that Russia is violating any provisions of international law in the field of strategic stability.

“Russia has been, is and will remain committed to all of its international obligations,” Peskov emphasized.

Opinions that the statements of the president made by him during the Address can increase the isolation of Russia, Peskov called incorrect and hypertrophied.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Donald Trump during telephone conversations discussed Putin’s speech and expressed concern about his statements about the new weapon, Interfax reports, citing a statement from the German government.Merkel and Trump believe this could have a “negative impact on the international community’s arms control efforts.

Addressing the Federal Assembly on March 1, Putin spoke about the latest types of Russian strategic weapons. He said that our country has begun the development of special weapons that do not use a ballistic flight path, and therefore are invulnerable to anti-missile defense systems.
