Printing Funeral Program at Copy Shop

When it comes time to print funeral programs, you have several options. You can either print your funeral programs on your home printer, email, upload or deliver the originals to a print shop and pay them to do the printing, or you can choose to print them yourself on a self-service copier. Here are the basics.

Locating a Copy Shop

Depending on where you live, you may have several options for printing funeral bulletins. Even if there are no retail ship & print or office supply centers in your area, you should still be able to use a commercial print shop that serves local businesses. Here are four common retail locations where printing can be done.

  • Fedex/Kinkos ship & print centers normally have self-service machines that customers can use to run copies (see more about that below). They can also print your custom funeral programs to your specifications.  Most Fedex/Kinkos locations allow uploading of document originals through their website, then completing your print specifications and submitting the order for pick-up at your designated store.
  • Staples copy & print centers include self-service copiers and printers within their office supply stores. You can copy from USB, the cloud or printed documents. Staples also has full-service copy shops that can complete your funeral and memorial program print jobs for you, and their website allows easy ordering of print services.
  • Some UPS shipping centers also offer this type of full-service printing. gives instructions for uploading your documents to be printed and then selecting the UPS print shop location nearest you to complete the job.

Another funeral program printing option available in many areas is through Office Depot/Office Max. These two office supply chains have merged, but they’ve retained their printing capabilities. As with the other two options, you can set up an online account, upload your funeral programs and specify how you want them printed for pick-up.

Self-Service Printing Option

Most Fedex/Kinko’s and Staples locations offer the option of copying your funeral programs on self-service printer/copiers. The self-service copiers usually include a USB port to upload original documents directly to the copier from a flash drive.

There’s also a special email address available on their websites where you can send an attached document to be retrieved at the printer/copier. One more option for getting your originals to the copy shop for self-service printing is to access them from the printer via the cloud.

Whether you bring in printed originals to copy or upload them from a flash drive, email attachment or the cloud, you’ll need to then specify number of copies, size of paper and printing services like collating and stapling.

These copy shops usually stock different colors and weights of paper that you can purchase by the piece for your print job. You could also purchase a quantity of the paper you need ahead of time. This is a good option if you’re likely to use it again for customers’ funeral program orders.

Printing Specifications

No matter where you choose to print your customized funeral or memorial programs, you’ll have to make some decisions to produce the mementos you want. As you were designing the document with the help of your downloadable funeral program template, you chose the format—single sheet flyer, bi-fold, tri-fold, gate-fold or graduated fold, multiple page format or large booklet format. That’s important to know as you’re working with the print shop (or copying the funeral programs yourself).

Will you print in full color, single color (one additional color besides black and white) or only in black & white? Another decision to make is the weight and color of paper you desire. If you’re not familiar with the different weights of paper, you may need to visit the print shop for your first order. If you’re ordering your document printing online, there should be a chart of colors available in each weight.

One last choice to make is whether to have the print shop fold the funeral bulletins once they’re printed. It’s less expensive to fold them yourself, but you may want the crisp look of machine folding.

Price Comparison

You’ll need to know what local copy shops charge for printing services so that you can build that cost into your funeral program pricing. You can usually expect to pay more for having your funeral programs printed by copy shop staff than if you print them yourself on-site (but watch for coupons or member discounts.)

Here’s an example of the difference between having a print job completed by the print shop or running copies yourself on a self-service machine:

Funeral Program: Tri-fold, full-color on ivory, 32-lb paper – 100 copies for $134.25 printed by Fedex/Kinko’s ship & print center. Average cost to print full-color copies on self-service copiers at Staples and Fedex is .59 each. One hundred copies x .59 = $59.00, plus $2.40 for 100 sheets of ivory paper from Staples = $61.40, but you will also need to factor in your time to tri-fold 100 copies.

Printing funeral programs or bulletins by using downloadable templates and the services of a local copy shop can be a good alternative to using your own printer and ink. Save more money by buying paper in several colors and weights on sale if you’re running a funeral program business. Take advantage of local copy shops to produce funeral and memorial programs with a professional touch.

Staples Advantage announces new Print-to-Store program

Staples Advantage, the business-to-business division of office supplies giant Staples Inc., recently launched its Print-to-Store program, which allows customers to order print jobs online and pick them up at their nearest Staples store. The program is available at all stores that offer copy and print services, and allows telecommuters to use their Staples Advantage accounts to submit for print jobs, meaning that workers don’t have to worry about paying in-store or submitting expense reports and waiting for reimbursement. Likewise, the program affords procurement departments with visibility and control over what workers are printing, says Steve Bussberg, senior vice president of Staples Advantage.

Print-to-Store launched in early 2015, and Bussberg has “high expectations” for B2B demand. 

“We see a real need at the very enterprise level,” Bussberg says. “Customers from Fortune 500 companies all the way down to a 20- to 30-person real estate company that needs to make brochures or marketing materials can submit their project online and pick it up at a local store.”

Customers can choose from Print-to-Store’s more than 2,000 options for printed copy including, digital black and white printing, color documents, and booklet making. Buyers can also preview all items before they are submitted.

Because StaplesAdvantage.comis a centralized website—where procurement departments can log in and create a branded company profile—expense department personnel can set up an approval process so employees can only print work-related documents.  Oversight on telecommuters printing could decrease the potential for “rogue” or “inconsistent” spending, Bussberg says.

The program launch follows a Staples Advantage November study that found that only 28% of procurement professionals consider the needs of their office’s telecommuters when planning the company budget. 59% of procurement professionals purchase products for telecommuters; and approximately 23% of these mobile workers request copy and print services, according to the survey. 

The Print-to-Store program aims for transparency in telecommuter’s spending, Bussberg says, and also allows companies to negotiate prices for these goods and services.

“This is really a great way for Staples to extend the capabilities of our stores to our B2B customers who typically don’t go into the stores,” Bussberg says. “It leverages the B2B website and drives feet to our retail channel Staples stores.”

Staples Rolls Out 3-D Printing Program

Everyone’s talking about how 3-D printing will change the world, but to many people, it’s a concept about as relatable as Amazon’s flying delivery drones.

Hoping to demystify the technology for entrepreneurs and small-business owners, Staples is rolling out 3-D printing services at two of its 1,800 stores.

“Customers can interact with the technology and begin to understand it,” says Damien Leigh, senior vice president of business services for Staples, at a panel discussion today at the company’s Fifth Avenue store in New York City, which along with a Los Angeles location, will offer 3-D printing. “We can get them through the learning curve. 3-D can revolutionize [small] businesses, but they don’t understand it yet.”

3-D printing, which transforms computer files into real-world objects, is entering its “2.0” stage, according to Ash Martin of 3D Systems, a 30-year-old company that creates 3-D printers. Still, while the technology has gotten a lot of buzz over the past few years, its uses still remain mysterious to most people, says Gene Marks, a small-business owner who moderated the panel and writes for publications including

The printers can be used for anything from personalized smartphone covers and action figures to replacing missing board game pieces and even missing limbs. Small-business owners may utilize the technology for promotional items or gifts to customers, or to create real-world prototypes of new ideas.

Staples employees will help interested customers bring their designs to life, and the company is training some of its internal designers to work with the technology.

“By leveraging 3-D printing, it’s an opportunity for small businesses to differentiate themselves,” Martin says. “3D printing allows you to do things you weren’t able to do before.”

UPS also offers 3-D printing services at six of its locations across the U.S.

Leigh says that Staples — the largest provider of promotional materials in the U. S. — is “prototyping” its pricing based on how customers utilize the printers.

“We have to figure out the business model,” he says. “We’re working through price points that will create a demand for it. I can only imagine how good we’ll get at this over time.”

Staples To Pilot A Drop-Off Program For Easier E-Commerce Returns

Office supply chain Staples is following the lead of retailers like Kohl’s
and is planning to use its stores as drop-off locations for returns of goods sold by other online brands.

Staples is partnering with returns and reverse logistics tech firm Optoro to allow consumers to bring returns to the more than 1,000 Staples stores in this country, and get credit for returned items through a QR code on their phones.

Optoro and Staples plan to have the program, called Express Returns, in place in January, in time for the peak holiday returns period. Optoro also hopes to expand Express Returns to additional retail chains in the future.

The Staples partnership reflects the growing realization by retailers that while Americans love buying online, they greatly prefer making returns in stores, especially if they don’t have to box up, and label the return themselves.

A key strength of and Target
.com is that customers can easily return online purchases to the physical stores of those retailers.

Other retailers have decided that it is a smart move to take returns even if they didn’t make the sale.

Kohl’s in July, 2019 began accepting Amazon
returns as a way to bring more customers into its stores, particularly younger customers. Walgreen’s
and Nordstrom
have also launched returns programs.

For Staples, the returns program fits into its strategy of being a solutions provider, with its in-store printing, copying and shipping centers. In February, a month before pandemic-related retail shutdowns began, Staples showed its commitment to expand that strategy when it unveiled Staples Connect, a new store model with co-working and community event spaces and a podcast studio.

“We’re already recognized as a convenient shipping destination. A lot of our customers use us to drop off their packages. In this remote working environment we’ve got that convenient opportunity. So because we already play in that space within the local communities our stores operate in, this program is really just a natural extension of that,” said Craig Grayson, vice president/GMM, Print & Marketing Services, Staples U.S. Retail.

Washington-D.C.-based Optoro manages returns for leading retailers and brands including Best Buy
, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond
, Under Armour
, and Staples, as well as hundreds of smaller online brands. It supplies consumers with a portal for making returns and collecting refunds, and helps brands maximize the resale or reuse value of returns.

When the Express Returns program launches at Staples stores in January, consumers who purchase items from brands that use the Optoro platform will be able to indicate online that they want to make a return, and get information about how they can return the item at the nearest Staples store, as well as a QR code sent to their mobile phone that will be scanned when they return the item. Items can be returned loose, without packaging, and will be placed in a shipping pouch at Staples.

“We’re basically making it super simple for customers to get a QR code and digitize their return and then take that QR code with their item to any store and make that return,” said Adam Vitarello, president and cofounder of Optoro.

The Express Returns program, Vitarello said, can be used by retailers to create, fast contactless returns of for their own e-commerce customers, in addition to enabling retailers like Staples to act as drop-off locations for multiple online retailers.

The program benefits consumers by making returns easier, “and it leverages the brick-and-mortar locations that Staples and other retailers have to take those returns,” Vitarello said.

“Buy online, return in store is actually a key driver to profitability in e-commerce,” he said. “If you can encourage more buy online, return in store – if you can go from 10% to 50% to 80% – it can literally change your economics of e-commerce.”

The pandemic-driven surge in online shopping has been accompanied by a spike in online returns. “Some of our clients are seeing 2x to 3x increase in returns,” Vitarello said.

“Now that everyone’s going online, it’s highlighting the differences between brick and mortar and online and maybe the biggest difference between brick and mortar and online is returns. It’s way more complicated. You have to figure out how to package it up, how to get the label, when’s my refund going to come, do I want to do an exchange,” he said.

“What we’re trying to do in a nutshell is make an online return act more like a store return,” he said.

And with offices closed down due to Covid-19, shoppers no longer can bring their returns to the office to print the free shipping label, and drop the package off at the mailroom, or the FedEx
or UPS drop box.

“What was previously pretty painful is now even more painful, so the need to be able to do this package-less, express return at stores is greater now than ever,” Vitarello said

How to get free recycling from HP HP has three options for your old products:

  1. Drop off items at any Staples at the US.
  2. Mail back items for recycling via Fedex.
  3. Mail back items for trade in.

Option 1: Drop off at Staples for recycling.

HP partners with Staples to offer convenient recycling for many types of electronics (see list below) via all Staples locations in the U.S. They take “any brand, any condition” and will accept up to 6 items per person per day.

Option 2: HP’s mail back recycling program via Fedex.

You can ship (for free) some old HP products back for free recycling. You need to use their site to get a free shipping voucher and take it to any Fedex shipping center. You can also use this mailback program to recycle non HP items, but it’s not free. This site will tell you the cost of recycling. Note: You must say “yes” to the question about premium shipping, or you won’t get a quote for recycling. More details below.


Option 3: HP’s mail back trade in program.

HP also has a buy back program for some products (not just HP brands),  using Market Velocity. also using Fedex, where you can earn money for your used products. Details below.

You use HP’s site to see if the item(s) has any trade in value.  If your product has value, you can get cash (a check), an HP gift card, or a donation to an HP approved charity.  You have to drop them off at Fedex. HP pays for shipping. You can have up to 5 items per mailback quote. HP uses a vendor called Market Velocity for both mailback programs. Shipping instructions for your product will be sent via email within one business day after the online quote process has been completed. You must ship within 30 days or you have to start the transaction over.You will need to provide your own box and packing materials. You can pay an extra $10 for “premium shipping” to have FEDEX pick up your items from you. For larger quantities (6 or more units) HP has a large quantity portal to give you a custom quote (not instant).

How do I know that HP will handle my e-waste responsibly?

Drop off program with Staples. Staples partners with Electronics Recyclers Inc (ERI) which is a recycler certified to the e-Steward standard, the highest standard in this industry. This standard does not allow exporting e-waste to developing nations.

For the mail back and trade in program, HP uses a vendor called Market Velocity to handle its trade-in program. Market Velocity is not an e-Steward and they don’t disclose their recycling vendor used, although we assume it to be Sims Recycling Solutions, a longtime vendor for HP. Sims is also not an e-Steward.  So this trade-in and recycling program therefore does not benefit from independent auditing to high standards. However, HP has a fairly strong policy regarding responsible recycling of e-waste, stating that non-working products collected in their programs may not exported to developing countries for recycling. HP makes their recycling standards and their reuse standards public.

Who can use HP’s services Anyone can use it. But residents of Alaska and Hawaii can’t use the HP fedex shipping labels, and will need to pay for surface shipping to Hewlett Packard Recycling Facility. Alaskans, send yours to 8855 Washington Blvd, Roseville, CA 95678. In Hawaii, ship to HP recycling facility: (99-1305 B Koaha Pl., Aiea, 96701).

Staple Binding – Copier

In this case, an employee of the copy center must pay special attention to the printing process in order to copy correctly. Secondly, before stapling the printed sheets of A3 and A4 format in unfolded form, it is necessary to very carefully calculate the binding axis and only then carry out the stitching on the staple.

Very often inexperienced copy center workers have difficulties in performing such a task.As a result, a product defect may result. Moreover, such uncertainty of the staff does not contribute to the urgent fulfillment of the order. In fact, stitching on a staple in skilled hands is done in 10 minutes. This period also includes an additional check of the correctness of the firmware.

What is staple stitching for? When printed documentation is in the form of manuals, reference books or magazines, it will be rational to stitch it in this way. About sixty sheets can be stapled into one collection (brochure). It is not necessary to make a hardcover and hardcover. How to print the abstract in the form of a brochure

An abstract is a summary of the main points of a candidate’s or doctoral dissertation, which is compiled by the author of the work.The document looks like a brochure made on A5 sheets. Printing is carried out on both sides, two staples are used as a binding.

It is standard practice to order a service for printing an abstract in a printing house, but this is only justified if you need a large number of copies (more than 20). The cost of making one copy is reduced with large circulations, but the production of 10 brochures will be economically unprofitable, especially since there is not always time for this.

What if you urgently need to prepare several abstracts in a short time – for example, for the next speech? How to save time and money?

Self-printing of the work in the desired format is possible – moreover, the result will look exactly the same as in the printing house. We recommend that you study the information below, as you will likely have to face this process more than once.

What do you need to print your abstract?

  • Text editor.The most common option is Microsoft Word, it is possible to use LibreOffice and other software that supports the .docx format.
  • A program for translating a document into PDF format. The easiest option is PDFCreator, but you can use any tool available. The advantage of PDFCreator is the principle of work – it creates files of the desired format directly through printing.
  • Program for viewing files with the .pdf extension. Usually Adobe Acrobat is used for this.
  • Enough A4 sheets, paper clips and a needle.

Text Writing

You will find out the specific parameters at the department or in the recommendations of the academic council.

In most cases, you should write your text in Times New Roman 14 with single line spacing. You can use 12 point size. After you finish working on the content, you should adjust the page settings.

Text editor settings

In Microsoft Word, select the Page Layout tab, which contains the Page Setup menu.This item sets margins, orientation and other parameters. You need the following settings:

  • The size of the margins on the left and right must be 1.5 cm, at the top and bottom – 2 cm, or vice versa. It is possible to produce pages with indents on all sides equal to 2 cm. It is only important that the left and right margins are the same;
  • select landscape orientation, and in the “Pages” section select “Multiple Pages” and “Brochure” mode;
  • go to the Paper Size tab. This is where we indicate to the editor that the text will be printed as a brochure. To do this, set the following parameters: width – 42 cm, height – 29.7 cm.

Although the paper size matches the specifications of the A3 format, in fact the sheet will be divided into two parts and printed as desired.You can safely continue to work with the document – outwardly it will not change, but the characteristics already indicate the necessary parameters for printing.

Preparing for PDF translation

Alas, the Word format is not very suitable for making brochures, so you need to turn the text document into a PDF file in advance. To do this, you need to install the PDFCreator program. Enter its name in the search engine, go to the download page and click the Download button. After the download is complete, run the file and install it.

In the process, the application will offer to install additional components. Most likely you will not need them, so it is recommended to uncheck the boxes Images2PDF, PDFArchitect and others of your choice.

When the process is successfully completed, a new printer will appear in the system, which will be called PDFCreator.


Open the finished file, select the “Print” menu and the newly created virtual printer. It’s simple – no additional settings, the program will automatically translate documents into the desired format. You only need to specify where to save the results. That’s it, a .pdf file has been created on the hard disk, in which all the pages are arranged in the desired form. It remains only to translate them onto paper.

Attention is important! Remember that Windows does not have a standard pdf viewer.For them, you need to install the Acrobat Reader program or its equivalent. Use the search engine or Windows Store to search.

Brochure Printing

Acrobat Reader has a simple interface.You only need to select the “File” menu, and then “Print”, after which the window for working with the printer will open.

In it, select the printer connected to the computer, in the settings – the Size option: Fit. In the settings, be sure to specify “Print odd pages” (in English they are called “Odd pages”) and uncheck the “Reverse order” item.

Done, the odd pages of your work are printed! Check if everything is correct and put them back in the output tray.

The last step is to print the even-numbered sheets. The corresponding item is indicated in the printer settings (“even pages”), and the “Reverse order” checkbox must be returned to its place.

It remains only to bend the sheets

Now you need to turn the set of sheets into a brochure.To do this, fold them in the desired order, bend them in half and fasten them with pre-prepared paper clips, making holes in the fold line. If you do everything carefully, outwardly the work will be almost indistinguishable from that made in the printing house.
