How to Make a Giant Post-it Wall Calendar

It’s all in the supplies

Post-It Notes

Walmart always features the best back to school deals in their center bins and you can find the Post-it® products there as well as the back to school and office supplies aisles. I chose 3×3 Post-it® Super Sticky Cube. With three different colors in one pack the 3 x 3 Post-it® Super Sticky Cube provides a ton of variety in just one package.

I also picked up a Post-it® Super Sticky Notes Single Pack in Electric Yellow and a pack of the large 4″ x 6″ Post-it Super Sticky Lined Notes in Canary Yellow. With all the different size and color options it’s easy to match any décor!

You can use any wrapping paper, kraft or butcher paper or even a poster board.  I always have a few large paper rolls on hand to use for everything from wrapping paper to photo booth backers and dessert table decor. But for this project I suggest stopping by the wrapping paper aisle while you’re at Walmart to choose an option with cut lines on the back. Most wrapping papers have a nice 1″ grid on the back that not only helps to cut the paper straight, but it’s also a huge time saver when laying out this project.

Simply download your free printable calendar months labels. Then save and print onto cardstock.

Or hand letter the calendar months on pieces of cardstock instead. You can do the same with the days of the week too!

Step by Step Giant Post-it Wall Calendar Tutorial

  1. Gather supplies.

    Print and cut calendar months. Optional: skip the printable and write the months onto cardstock or plain paper.

  2. Measure wall and cut the paper to fit.

    While 30″ high by 31″ wide is the minimum space required you can do whatever works for your space. Use 2 x 2 Post-it Notes Cube instead of the 3 x 3 to fit a smaller area. Or use 4 x 6 lined notes if you have a larger space to fill. You can also add extra inches either to the height or width to leave space to add goals, dinner menus, chores, or inspirational photos.

  3. Use Post-its to lay out the days.

    With a 2″ border place seven Post-it Notes spaced 1″ apart across and five spaced 1″ apart down. Use all the same color sticky notes or mix it up with different colors for weekends, holidays, etc.  And no worries about changing your mind because it’s so easy to update!

  4. Add the days of the week across the top.

    Use a single letter die cut or sticker for a clean modern look. Or, write the days in with a permanent marker.

  5. Hang the calendar up with pieces of strong tape at the edges.

    Cut lines parallel to the poster board with a sharp blade for a nice finished look that nods to vintage photo edges. Or leave as is.

  6. Place a binder clip top and center and store all the calendar months under it

How to Make a DIY Sticky Note Calendar

The quintessential calendar can be difficult to find in stores. So why not create your own colorful calendar that perfectly suits you and your life? Leave the always stained, constantly smudged whiteboard behind, and step into the new year with a sticky note calendar that can be easily adjusted as often as your schedule changes. If you appreciate order, but still want a calendar that has some zing, this is the perfect DIY for you.

To create a fresh and clean backdrop, cover the entire corkboard surface with a layer of white paint. Although another color could be used, a simple background allows the sticky notes to pop. Let the corkboard dry completely.

Beginning one inch from the left side of the corkboard and 2 1/2 inches from the top, stick a continuous 28 1/4-inch piece of washi tape across the length of the corkboard. Separating each strand of washi tape by three inches, repeat five times until you have a total of six pieces of tape running horizontally across the board. To complete the grid pattern, connect the horizontal tape strips with eight vertical pieces of tape. Space these three inches apart.

Trim off any excess tape on the right side of the grid. All boxes within the calendar grid should measure 3-x-3 inches. Add letter stickers to the top of the grid that correspond with the days of the week.

Fill each square with a sticky note, and write in the days according to the current month. Using a piece of construction paper, create a tag with the month name on it and display it in the empty space to the right of the calendar grid. Use any extra space on the right to add monthly to-dos, goals or special events. 

Now that the calendar is complete, fill your days with fun! Whether it’s lunch dates or play dates, you now have the perfect place to keep track of everything in your life. If the outing gets rescheduled, not to worry! Just peel and press another sticky note, and you have a fresh canvas to work with.

How to Use a Weekly/Monthly Planner — Sweet PlanIt

Maximize your productivity by using a weekly/monthly planner!

By using this combination of both you’ll have an easy overview of important events and tasks to complete. 

I’ve often wondered why the most popular layout is a weekly/monthly layout.

So, I spent some time researching and here’s what I found. It and found it allows for productivity without the distractions of unimportant tasks.

Using a weekly/monthly planner allows you to start with the monthly big picture goals and plans. Then, break it down into achievable weekly and daily tasks to achieve those goals.

Many people start with daily tasks and just check off the things that fall into their lap to get done. But, if you start with larger goals and work downward from monthly to weekly and daily, it will help you achieve the goals you want rather than checking off to-do items that have nothing to do with your goals.

In the rest of this article, I’ll give more info on how to use a weekly/monthly planner for an organized and productive life.

Before you grab any old pen and just start writing in a new planner, take a few minutes brainstorm and decide how you want to use this planner and the goals you have for it. 

Are you using this planner for personal, business, or family activities? Do have a lot of meetings to track or lots of to-dos? Thinking through how you will use this planner before you start writing in it is really helpful and insures you won’t have “setup regret” later.

What’s important to remember about your planner is that there are no rules. How you set it up is unique to YOU and meant to help you achieve your goals and plans, not anyone else’s.

Choose Your Materials 

Decide what tools you are going to use ahead of time. Once you bring your planner home, are you going to use one color pen? Are you going to color code important dates/activities? Do you like to write your plans in one color and the kids’ plans in different colors? Do you write business plans in one color and work appointments in another? Do you like to use stickers, washi tape, etc. to decorate your planner or do you keep a more minimalist approach? 

  • Planner

  • Writing tools

  • Stickers

  • Washi tape

  • Colored pencils

  • Stamps and ink

Begin working in your planner by thinking of the year as a whole. Go to each month and write in important dates such as birthdays and anniversaries. You can also add Federal holidays. Some planners already include this information, some don’t. It just depends on the planner. For handy reference here’s a list: Holidays and Observances in the US.

Next write in your upcoming events such as vacations, sporting events, concerts, parties, and travel plans.

Last but by no means least, use the monthly layout to set goals.

Are you trying to lose weight? Save more money? Master a new skill? Grow your social media following?

Plan out your goals and then note where you want to be for these each month. It’s a great way to track your progress.

By looking at your year as a whole and then breaking it down, month by month, week by week, and day by day, you’ll be able to set goals and then create a plan to achieve them.

Now that you’ve filled in the monthly calendar, go into the weekly spread and fill in the same information. It may seem redundant, but it’s not. In the weekly layout, we’re going to break those items out and then add the tasks that are needed to complete each goal.

Here’s some goal examples and how to make them happen:

Lose 4 pounds a month. That’s one pound a week. What tasks will you need to add to your to-do list each week to achieve that goal? Maybe it’s exercise 3 times a week. Add workout to those days and then you’re putting tasks into place to achieve that overall goal!

Saving money. Let’s say you decide you want to save $100 per month. How will you go about that? Does it mean you won’t buy a Starbuck coffee every day? Or maybe you pack your lunch instead of buying one. Or instead of going to Friday night movies, maybe opt for a Saturday matinee? Making these changes will allow you to achieve your goals effortlessly while tracking them in your weekly planner.

Social media goals. Let’s say you decide, I really want to grow my Instagram followers. So, in your monthly layout you want to gain an additional 100 followers. Now in the weekly and daily goals you’ll need a plan to achieve that goal. Maybe your to-do list will include following 20 people/day. Commenting on non-follower posts 10 times/day. Or posting 3 times/day. These are the actionable steps you can do to achieve that monthly goal. 

I just gave three examples of daily/weekly tasks to achieve goals. If you notice, they are all easy to do on a day-to-day basis. Often when you start with an overall goal for the year/month, it seems unobtainable.

But, if you break it down into step-by-step easy tasks it makes that huge goal effortless to achieve!

I’ve seen so many varieties of weekly layouts! Some such as Moleskine break out the week on one page and allow for notes on the next page. The benefit of this spread is that you can log holidays, appointments, and important reminders in the calendar part and use the notes side for weekly tasks and to-dos. 

Many other planners, such as the Happy Planner, provide the week broken out over a two-page spread with larger boxes for each day. So in this space you’ll be able to add both your appointments and to-dos in the same box.

I’ve also seen planners that within the weekly spread, the days are blocked out in time format. This layout focuses on blocking out the time you’ll need to achieve tasks rather than just making a to-do list.

So for example, you have an upcoming holiday such as Halloween. You’ll need schedule the time to choose a costume, buy candy, or go trick-or-treating.  This layout is effective because you have to plan the time along with the tasks and it allows you to realize the time it takes to complete those tasks.

Using the Monthly/Weekly Layouts Together

I used to have a really hard time understanding the difference between a monthly and weekly planner. I thought, why am i putting the same information in both places? 

Really, you aren’t putting the same info in both places. Think of your monthly layout as a place to QUICKLY glance at plans and goals. The weekly layout allows you to FOCUS on the tasks that are needed to achieve those goals and plans. In other words, the monthly layout is not a place for tasks!

In the last section, I focused a lot on goals. But let’s say you have some events coming up. One of the things you have on your monthly planner is Aunt Jennifer’s surprise birthday party on May 11. Now using the weekly/daily plan, you’ll be able to apply tasks for that event such as:

Applying tasks to events, goals, and priorities makes them easy to achieve. You won’t be scrambling at the last minute because you forgot to add them to your to-do list.

The monthly and weekly layouts go hand-in-hand and it’s important to have them both to help you set life goals and achieve them.

How to Build a Content Calendar (Plus a Free Template)

Creating a content calendar from scratch is one of those tasks that seems so much more complicated than it actually is. Even just opening a blank Excel spreadsheet can feel overwhelming. Thankfully, sometimes all that’s needed to get on the right track is a quick how-to and a great starter template, which is exactly what we have for you here.

In this post, we provide a guide to building a content calendar, plus a free template for the year.

The Definition of a Content Calendar

Before we jump into calendaring our content, let’s talk about what a content calendar actually is and a few baseline requirements for success.

We define a content calendar as a shareable resource that teams can use to plan all content activity. This allows you to visualize how your content is distributed throughout the year. We prefer a calendar-based format, as opposed to just creating a long list of content to be published, because it comes with several benefits:

  • Gain inter-and cross-department alignment: Inform everyone about what is being published, when and where, so there are no surprises or duplication of efforts.
  • Get a 50,000-foot view of content: Create a clear visual of how your content is distributed throughout the year.
  • Identify content milestones: Plan content around key events or important dates.
  • Spot content gaps: Gain a sense of what content still needs to be planned, with plenty of lead time to line up more content.
  • Inform the content creation workflow: Make sure you have your content ready in time to actually publish when needed.

Consistency is insanely critical to content success. Yes, amazing new ideas and brilliant sparks of creativity help, but we can’t rely on them alone. They’re too inconsistent and unreliable. Instead, everyone needs to be on the same page with what content is being created, plus where and when it’s being published. It has to be done on a regular, ongoing basis. That is precisely where content calendars come into play.

The further ahead you plan, the better positioned you will be to produce a consistent flow of content.

The 4 Keys to Content Calendar Success

Whether you plan content on a weekly, monthly or quarterly basis, depending on how quickly your industry or organization moves, there are several universal keys to content calendar success:

  1. Open your calendars to everyone: While not everyone should have the ability to edit a master content calendar, everyone should at least know where the content calendar is located and have viewing access.
  2. Iterate constantly: A content calendar is a living, breathing document, and it should change and grow as your content needs do.
  3. There’s no one right way to calendar your content: There are a million different methods, templates and approaches to take. We’re providing you with a baseline template and a proven process that we use for ourselves and Convince & Convert clients, but you should also play around with the approach and modify elements, as needed. We tinker with it all the time too.
  4. Create a content repository: Don’t get stuck on ideas that you can’t implement immediately and don’t get hung up on the “we’ll never be able to do that” ideas. Instead, create a repository of content ideas that you can tap into whenever needed.

Fantastic! Now that we have all of that out of the way, let’s get to the good stuff: calendaring all of our amazing content.

How to Build Your Content Calendar in 3 Easy Steps

Step 1: Start with Existing Content Assets

There’s a lot of focus on creating new content when we should really be focusing on creating more with less. It’s also usually not necessary to produce all your content from scratch since we often leave heaps of valuable content just lying around.

Instead, start by taking note of all of your existing content or resources to see what can be repurposed and remixed. For example:

  • Slide decks: Repurpose these as videos, blog posts or key takeaway slide decks.
  • First-hand data or research: As long as you use that data safely and in ethical ways, leverage your own data or research to create infographics or news stories.
  • Colleagues and coworkers: The expertise of your colleagues can be tapped for video, audio or transcribed interviews.
  • Whitepapers or reports: Break big content pieces into a series of blog posts or social takeaways. We call this content atomization, which we’ll dive into in just a bit.
  • Old blog posts: Make minor adjustments and update with fresh information. If they’re all on the same topic, combine them into an uber-post or whitepaper, which is a process we call reverse atomization.

Repurposing content assets takes away some of the strain of having to come up with a million new content ideas. It also helps you efficiently fill gaps in your content schedule. A single content asset can also often give rise to several pieces of content, which we refer to as content atomization. It’s the process of taking one big piece of content and spinning it out into eight smaller pieces of content. For example, an infographic can support a blog post that analyzes the integrity of the data on which it was based. You could also include a video which explains the wider ramifications of its findings – so on and so forth.

Step 2: Identify and Create Your Content Shows

If you’re not familiar with Jay Baer’s concept of creating content shows, you can read his in-depth post about content shows. If you’re already familiar or just want the highlights, content marketers need to start to think like television networks and create content shows. In short, these content shows become predictable, steady initiatives that our audiences can rely on and recognize. In fact, these shows are something that they actually look forward to.

There are 3 types of shows you need to identify within your content:

Binge-worthy shows: These shows are big, steady ongoing content initiatives that have the same theme and format. They should target at least two audiences, otherwise hey’re not worth the time or effort to produce. These are often podcasts, video series, webinar series, white papers, reports, etc. You should be able to execute this show at least twice per month. These also get plugged into your calendar first.

Binge-worthy show example: I’m a massive fan of Retro Replay, a relatively new weekly YouTube show that pits two of today’s most well-known video game voice actors against some of the most difficult and/or nostalgic video games of the past. It premiers live every Thursday at 4:00 pm PT and includes a live chat with the hosts. Aside from being super fun to watch, this show is also a fantastic case study for what a true binge-worthy show looks like and for how to build and engage with an audience. Seriously, check it out.

One-time shows: These shows are special quarterly or yearly shows that attack a major customer pain point or topic. Although they’re less frequent in cadence than binge-worthy shows, they’re still fairly large content pieces. Think white papers, research papers, contests, user-generated content campaigns, etc. These don’t have to have the same level of consistency, but they should still be in line with your branding, voice and tone.

One-time show example: Who doesn’t love CMI’s annual Benchmarks, Budgets and Trends report?! This yearly report is chock-full of goodness. Even though the report varies slightly in design and layout each year, it’s consistent enough that audiences know exactly what to expect.

Regularly scheduled programming: These shows are ongoing content initiatives that round out your calendar, and they don’t have to necessarily connect completely or be 100 percent consistent in theme. Like in the case of blog posts, they may have a different author, topic or format, depending on the content, but they always connect back to the content strategy and have at least one clear audience in mind. Think of them as what a local nightly news show is to any major television network.

Regularly scheduled program example: Convince & Convert’s own blog is our version of regularly scheduled programming. We have our weekly ON newsletter (binge-worthy show) and our big masterclass courses (one-time shows), and then we have our blog to help round out the calendar and provide ongoing information (regularly scheduled programming).

It’s important to note that you most likely already have content shows in your existing content assets, so check your inventory first. It may just be a matter of spinning assets a bit differently, giving them an official show title or connecting them in more consistent ways.

If you don’t have any shows in your existing content assets, or you need more shows to round out your calendar, then you’ll want to focus on creating new content shows.

Step 3: Plan, Schedule, Publish, Promote, Track and Tweak Your Content

Regular editorial planning meetings between all those involved in content creation should be scheduled well before the next publishing period—be it monthly or quarterly. This meeting can be used to schedule the publishing content from your repository with realistic time frames and to support social media activity, email newsletter inclusions, etc.

Your planning meetings can also be used to review the visit, engagement and revenue (if available) stats from previous periods to assess which types of content are most successful (and perhaps need to be replicated) and which are less successful (and perhaps need to be rethought).

Analytics (both web and social) and revenue data can also be used to make tweaks to already published content (e.g. titles, introductions, outbound links, etc.) to optimize visits and engagement.

To add your content to the calendar and get the most out of your content:

  1. Start with binge-worthy shows: Add these into your calendar first and make sure to pay attention to any key dates or big events.
  2. Add your one-time specials: Pay attention to how they overlap or complement your binge-worthy shows.
  3. Round it out with regularly scheduled programming: Last, but definitely not least, add in your regularly scheduled programming. These should help fill any gaps in your cadence and keep content consistent.
  4. Add content to the content repository: Don’t have a place right now in the calendar for some great ideas? Add it to the repository. Let this be your storage solution for great ideas and check back on it often.

That’s it! Now you can edit and update it, as needed. The actual calendaring part is pretty quick, once you get your shows established. How to Create and Schedule a Social Media Content Plan

When I can find the time to do so, I love to plan ahead.

I’ll write out tomorrow’s to-do list. I’ll add ideas to our content calendar. And I’ll schedule the next day’s social media updates—or even the next week’s, if I’m feeling ambitious. Maybe some day I’ll get to the point of scheduling a month or even a year ahead!

Scheduling part of your social media content in advance is well worth it.

And I’ll be happy to share with you some strategies, tips, and tools that can help you get organized and get ahead with your social media sharing.

5 benefits to mapping out your social media content

Social media content feels quite in-the-moment and real-time when you consider the short lifecycle of updates and the rapid way that information moves across Twitter, Facebook, and others.

A solid social media schedule leaves room for real-time updates.

Planning content on social media still allows for flexibility to the schedule and provides opportunities to slip in real-time engagement.

The Sprout Social blog has a good reminder on the balance here.

For every quick-witted, real-time tweet, there are hundreds more tweets that take hours of planning and a lot of creative power to make, especially when a single tweet can help drive an entire strategy.

The Marketo blog also has some keen insights here as well. They mention five benefits for creating a social media content calendar and planning social content ahead of time.

  1. It helps you maintain a consistent cadence.
  2. You can map time-sensitive content ahead of time.
  3. You’ll take your social marketing out of a silo.
  4. It serves as a system of record.
  5. It enforces the “411 Rule.”

Here’s a bit more on each of these benefits.

Consistent cadence. There’s a lot to be said for consistency on social media. In terms of publishing frequency, consistency can help your audience learn when to expect new content from you, and keeping a consistent schedule makes sure you maximize engagement without hitting any lulls or stretches without updates.

Time-sensitive content. Events, holidays, product launches, contests—many of these time-sensitive events can be planned ahead of time and placed on a calendar.

No more silo. When social media happens in real-time, it gets created and published in moments. Planning ahead allows others to become involved in the process, involving a whole team rather than a narrow silo of one or two social media managers.

System of record. Keeping a calendar gives you something to refer to later. You can track back on the updates you posted, and you can review your posting cadence and rhythm from one period to the next.

The 411 Rule. This rule refers to a ratio of sharing on social media—4 educational and entertaining posts for every 1 “soft promotion” and every 1 “hard promotion.” I’ll get into some additional ratios next.

The elements of a successful social media content plan

1. The best content rules and ratios for sharing on social media

One of the foundations of a social media content plan is figuring out the ideal ratio for the content that you’ll share. For any given slice of updates—say, your past 10 Facebook posts—what is the balance of content shared from your blog and from the blogs of others? How many product pitches do you make?

Here are some popular ratios that have been tried and tested on social. Feel free to test these and discover a ratio that is right for you, even if it doesn’t follow exactly with these. For instance, with our Buffer shares, we’ve flipped many of these ratios; our social media updates are 90 percent our own content and 10 percent from others.


Popularized by Andrew Davis of Tippingpoint Labs and Joe Pulizzi of Content Marketing Institute, the 4-1-1 looks like this in practice:

  • 4 pieces of relevant, original content from others
  • 1 retweet for every 1 self-serving update

Marketo, mentioned above, uses a variation of the 411 method on its social channels. Here’s a sample of a Monday-Tuesday schedule of theirs for Facebook.

Bonus method: Thinking about the types of updates you post

The above ratios deal with the content itself. But what about the post type? Buffer’s founder Joel came up with a neat balance of the types of updates that he shares to Twitter—links, quotes, retweets, images, and plain text updates.

His system works like this:

  1. Start with the basic five types of updates we all post: Links, images, quotes, reshares, plain-text updates
  2. Choose a “staple” update, a single type that will make up the majority of your shares
  3. Create a 4:1 ratio of sharing: for every four “staple” updates, publish one different type for variety

The ideal frequency to post to social media

Once you have the general framework for the content you’ll plan, the next step is to figure out the ideal frequency for your posts. Your schedule figures to be unique based on your specific audience. That being said, there’s been some neat research on frequency that might give you a place to start.

We collected a number of studies on the best frequency for the top social media sites. Here’s what we found:

  • Post to Twitter at least 5x a day. If you can swing up to 20 posts, you might be even better off.
  • Post to Facebook up to 2x a day.
  • Post to LinkedIn 1x per day.

A helpful post by Constant Contact added the following suggestions for Pinterest and Google+

  • Post to Google+ up to 2x per day.
  • Post to Pinterest up to 2x per day.

And an ideal Instagram schedule, according to Forbes, looks like this:

  • Post to Instagram 1.5x per day

The CoSchedule blog put together a graphic of how their social media frequency might look. They’ve scheduled specific windows of times for some of their updates to publish to their social channels, and they supplement these specific posting times with a handful of Buffer posts that get added to the queue.

Plan ahead for events and launches

What events do you have planned for the coming year?

Which launches might you be aiming for? (You’re likely to add a few to this list, too, as the year goes on.)

What type of tentpole content did well for you last year that you might want to reproduce at a similar time this year?

Anything that you think might be penciled in for a future date in the coming year, this info can go on your social media calendar. Doing so lets you develop the content and strategy for these big moments ahead of time and to get others involved in the process, too.

Here’re just a few calendar events to consider:

  • New product releases
  • Conferences
  • Annual events & meetups
  • Holidays
  • Major cultural events – the Super Bowl, the Oscars, etc.
  • Recurring content – end-of-year lists, mid-year lists, seasonal strategies, etc.

Decide how much you’ll curate

Another element of the calendar could be your curation. If you like to share the best content from others, you’re likely to want to add some space in your calendar for queueing content from others.

Generally speaking, curation happens in the moment. You share content from other blogs and websites that has been posted recently. In these cases, you can leave some schedule slots open to fill in with curated content the day of.

There are some cases and instances where it works to share great stuff from a blog’s archives or new-to-you content that you just came across. In fact, this might help break up the short lifecycle of social media content and help us all revisit the content that’s worth a second read.

With a good plan in place, the next step is organizing and implementing. Here’s where you get to have fun with some useful online tools.

  1. Buffer – Simple-to-use, great for scheduling social media posts in advance
  2. Google spreadsheets – Powerful and scalable way to organize and track content
  3. Google calendar – Daily, weekly, and monthly views of a content plan (with color-coded organization options)

A daily social media content plan

Work one day ahead.

  • What events and launches are planned for tomorrow?
  • How much content do you need to plan and schedule?
  • How does your sharing ratio fit with a day’s worth of content?

With a daily social media content plan, you can schedule the bulk of your content the day before, placing promotional posts of your existing content and adding curated content that appeared that day.

If you share six times to Twitter, you can schedule the six posts for tomorrow. If you use the 4-1-1 method for sharing, you make four of your six updates be content from others with a single post each for soft promotion (a blogpost of yours) and hard promotion (a CTA for your product).

A weekly social media content plan

Work one week ahead.

  • What events and launches are planned for this week?
  • Which new blogposts are scheduled to publish?
  • How much new content do you need to find ahead of time?
  • Which images could you create in advance?

Choose a day of the week to plan everything out for the following seven days. We shared some fun tips on how to accomplish the scheduling element of this—including some useful tools like bulk uploading to Buffer.

Planning a week ahead, you can fill in many of the slots in your schedule that will hold posts from your archives—the reshared content that you’ve posted before. New content and curated content can join the schedule as the week progresses.

A monthly social media content plan

Look one month ahead.

  • What events and launches are planned for this month?
  • What are your goals and plans for content this month?
  • Which content can you schedule in advance, and what will you need to reserve space for?
  • What experiments might you be running?

One month ahead, you may still be able to fill some of your slots with content from your archives. Beyond that, you’ll likely be charting your strategy instead of hand-writing individual updates.

Your monthly calendar can include your sharing ratio and content types. You can plan your social media experiments and tests. You can look ahead to launches and holidays and plan accordingly.

A yearly social media content plan

Look a full year ahead.

  • What events and launches are planned for the year?
  • What sharing ratio will you start out with?
  • What will be your daily frequency to start?
  • Which tentpole content do you hope to publish?

Jot down the major events happening over the next 12 months, integrate the social media plan with a blog editorial calendar, and settle on a sharing ratio that feels best to you. You can always come back throughout the year and change and tweak anything you’d like—when planning a year in advance, it’s hard to tell exactly what will be happening three or six or 12 months from now.

90,000 26 incredibly useful Google Calendar features you might not have known

From work deadlines to family events and occasional reminders, Calendar is what keeps me on track, keeps it on time and never drowns in about 1.7 million things spinning in my head every hour. The more I used it, the more I realized how flexible it is, and how many subtle possibilities it offers users in terms of customizing its interface, more efficient use of some functions and maximizing its services for how I use it for their own personal purposes.

If you rely on Google Calendar, as I do, and even just use it on a regular basis to keep track of events, you can get a lot more out of it when you discover all the advanced features and functions to save time.But, if you’re too busy to figure it out right now, then don’t worry: I know one good tool for setting reminders and making sure you don’t forget anything on your to-do list.

(Except for specific mentions, all of the instructions below are specific to the web version of Calendar).

UI Improvements

1. Would you like your calendar to be able to display a little more information without taking up a lot of space? Google Calendar has a hidden option to increase the density of the interface.Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the website, then select Density & Color and change Information Density to Compact.

2. If most of your events take place within one week, you can also tidy up your calendar interface if you turn off the weekend show. You can find the switch responsible for this by clicking on the view drop-down menu – it’s to the right of the gear icon on the Calendar website – and looking at the bottom of the pop-up menu.

3. Even if you want to see the weekend in your calendar, you may prefer to see the beginning of your week on Mondays and the end – on the weekend, because this is how most of us view the traditional work week. You can change this behavior with just a couple of quick clicks by opening the “Appearance Settings” section in the Calendar site settings.

4. Google Calendar allows you to create your own view in addition to the standard day, week, month, and year view, if, for example, you want to view your calendar in a two-day or two-four-week perspective.Open the site settings, click on “Appearance settings” in the left sidebar, and then customize the “Set a custom view” section the way you like best.

5. Having multiple calendars on your profile can often be useful, for example, if you want to share holidays, family gatherings, and any work-related events. However, some calendars are not important enough to always be visible – so let Calendar hide low-priority calendars by default, and then open them only when you need them.In the left sidebar on the Calendar website, uncheck each calendar you do not want to show. This will remove them from view and clear your active view, and then you can easily reopen them if you so desire.

6. Conversely, Calendar is able to show you one calendar at a time for easy and convenient customization. Click on the three-dot menu icon next to any calendar name in the same area of ​​the left sidebar, then select Show Only This.

7. Get rid of the clutter and give your calendar more space by hiding the Google Calendar sidebars when you’re not using them. On the left side of the screen, click on the three-dot menu icon at the top to hide the sidebar (and then click on the same icon to expand it if necessary). On the right side of the screen is a sidebar that allows you to view notes from Google Keep and other related services – click on the small left arrow at the bottom to hide this area (and then click on the right arrow to reappear when necessary).

8. Manage events across multiple time zones by activating the optional time zones option in Calendar, which gives you the ability to create events that start or end in different time zones, thus avoiding the hassle or the need for your own temporary translation. Look for the “Time Zone” heading in the website settings, then click on the checkmark next to “Show additional time zone” and choose which time zone you want to make additional.In addition, you can give each time zone a title (for example, “Boston” or “California”) to make things even easier.

9. Calendar can also show you the world clock to give you instant information about the current time in any number of locations. Look for the “World Clock” option in the website settings; after activation, you can add any desire number of time zones, and then all of them will be displayed in the left sidebar.

Time-saving tools

10. Switch between modes of your calendar in a split second, using one of the extremely useful hot keys Google Calendar: press “1” or “d” to view the calendar by day, “2” or “w” to view the calendar by week, ” 3 or m to view the calendar by month, 4 or x for custom view, 5 or a to view the schedule, and 6 or y to view by year.

11. One of the best keyboard shortcuts in Calendar: press “g” to jump straight to a specific date, in any year.Calendar will show you a window where you can simply enter any date using the standard format (4/13/06) or text format (April 13, 2006).

12. Another shortcut to keep in mind: anywhere on the Calendar website, press the Esc key to return to the main calendar screen. And while viewing any kind of calendar, press “t” to return to today’s date.

13. When viewing Calendar by day, week or month, you can simply left-click on any event to view a pop-up window with its details, or right-click on it for a list of additional event options, including the ability change the color of the event or completely remove it with one click.

14. The Google Calendar search function is a great way to quickly find an event, but even there are more options than you might think: after clicking on the search icon at the top of the Calendar site, click on the down arrow in the search form … This will open the advanced search panel, which allows you to narrow your search to specific calendars, dates, locations or attendees – and even search for events excluding certain keywords.

The Advanced Calendar Search feature has all sorts of options to narrow your search and find the items you want.

15. Calendar has a little-known feature that allows you to undo recent actions — for example, if you accidentally moved an event or deleted it. Whenever you encounter such a situation, press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Z or even just “z”. You only have 10 seconds to take advantage of this opportunity, but if you can quickly spot your mistake, this is a great way to get things back in order.

16. In case you completely delete an event and then want to return to it later, do not forget about the hidden section in Google Calendar “Trash”.This section gives you the ability to restore any deleted event a month after deletion. You can find the basket by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the site, and then select the “Basket” option in the menu that appears.

17. Do you need to create an event that almost completely repeats the one already existing in your calendar? Google Calendar has a hidden ability to duplicate an event and use it as a template for a new one. Just open the event you want to use as a reference, then click on the More Actions button in the upper right corner of the screen.Here you will find a convenient function for duplicating an event and starting a new one with data already filled in for editing.

Extended Event Capabilities

18. Did you know that you can attach a file directly to an event inside Calendar – for example, a PDF document, an image, or a document that you want to share with others? When creating a new event, look at the paperclip icon in the toolbar above the description field. By clicking on it, you can attach any file from your device or from your Google Drive storage.

19. When you need to send a message to everyone invited to a specific event, you can save time opening your mailbox by sending emails to everyone invited directly from Calendar. When viewing any event in which more than one person participates, you will see a small envelope icon under the “Guests” block on the right side of the screen. Click on this icon and you can compose and send an email right in the window that opens using the Gmail address associated with your account.

20. If you create a group event, but then yourself cannot participate in it, Calendar offers you a way to transfer the management of the event to another person so that it can take place in your absence. Open an event on the Calendar website, click on the “More Actions” button in the upper right corner of the screen, and then select “Change Owner” from the pop-up menu.Then you can enter them or the address of any person to whom you go to pass the guide.

21. By default, all new events in Google Calendar are one hour long and include an alert 30 minutes before their scheduled start – but you can change both of these settings and set any default duration and any reminder schedule you want. All bank shares are subject to immediate submission by their current branches to the local branch of the State Bank. Failure to submit bank shares within two weeks is punishable by complete confiscation of all property. All transactions and transfers of bank shares are unconditionally prohibited. All participants in these prohibited acts and transactions are subject to imprisonment for up to three months.

Guidance on the management of disused radioactive sources, approved at the 61st session of the IAEA General Conference in September 2017, is posted on the IAEA website. This guide complements the Code of Conduct on the Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources and the Guidelines for the Import and Export of Radioactive Sources.

Millions of radioactive sources are used worldwide in medicine, industry, agriculture and scientific research. Sources can remain radioactive for a long time beyond the end of their useful lives, so it is important to ensure that they are handled safely and protected. The Code of Conduct and its accompanying documents promote safe handling and protection by providing guidance for the development, harmonization and implementation of national policies, laws and regulations, and encouraging international and regional cooperation between Member States.

“The guidance develops a culture of radiation safety and security that will be enhanced as Member States put their recommendations into practice,” said Iler Mansu, Head of the IAEA’s Regulatory Infrastructure and Transport Safety Section.

The Guidance, which is not a legally binding document, discusses the various ways in which disused radioactive sources can be managed and protected, and the responsibilities of relevant parties, including regulatory bodies, are defined.This document focuses on disposal as the last step in the management of disused sources, and encourages countries to introduce national measures and strategies for the safe management of radioactive sources. In addition, it contains provisions on bilateral relations, including recommendations on the return of sources when agreed.

Muhammad Khalik, Head of the Nuclear Security Section for Materials and Facilities, notes that the application of the Guidance will also enhance nuclear security.

“Effective and continuous regulatory and managerial control of radioactive sources from production to disposal is of paramount importance to prevent malicious acts with harmful radiological consequences,” he says.

Member States make a so-called political commitment to comply with the Code and additional guidance in an official letter to the IAEA in which they reaffirm their determination to act in accordance with the recommendations.To date, of the 170 IAEA Member States, 137 have committed to adhere to the Code of Conduct and 114 to the Guidelines for the Import and Export of Radioactive Sources.

The IAEA supports Member States in implementing the Code of Conduct and Guidance through projects and information exchange. In this case, the official procedure established in 2006 is applied. The first international meeting to share experiences in the implementation of the Guidance on the Management of Disused Radioactive Sources is planned to be held in Vienna in 2020.
