PRINTING AT STAPLES STORES (U. S. and Canada customers):

I’ve been really pleased with the quality of Staples prints, where you can get very inexpensive same day prints if ordering before 2 PM (with a small rush fee).

For same-day/in-store 4×6″, 5×7″, 8×10″ or 8.5×11″ prints on matte paper: 

  • Select Staples’ “copy and print services – color” option.
  • Select the 110lb. white cover/card stock option for best results.
  • The current price (in USD) as of March 31, 2017 is just 67 cents per print.
  • When picking up your order, be sure to review your prints – if there are any print issues, the staff should be happy to reprint your order for you.
  • Make sure the “fit content to paper” checkbox is UNCHECKED if you’re uploading a file with a print size of less than 8.5″x11″

For same-day/in-store 11×14″, 16×20″ and 20×30″ on semi-gloss photo paper:

  • Select Staples’ “photo enlargements” option.
  • Choose your print size
  • The utility will automatically resize and crop your uploaded file to fit the dimensions of the paper. If your file print size doesn’t match the paper size, choose the first file print size that’s larger than the paper size (it’s better to reduce images than to enlarge, in general).

For larger same-day/in-store prints – printed on 12×18″, 18×24″ or 24×36″ matte paper (you can trim to your desired size afterward):

  • Select Staples’ “Oversized Color Prints” option.
  • On the media tab, select your paper size (select the paper size closest to your final print size). I recommend any of the sizes in the “White Standard HWT” option.
  • UNCHECK the “fit content to paper” option unless the paper size is the same as your desired final print size and you don’t intend to trim the paper.

To print larger sizes: 

  • Select Same Day poster option. 
  • Their available sizes are rather limited – 12×18″, 18×24″ and 24×36″. Your file will automatically be resized and cropped to fit these dimensions. You’ll be shown a preview image. so you can decide if this is acceptable.
  • I recommend going with their super heavyweight 140 lb. matte finish option, or the semi-gloss 140 lb. medium sheen option for best results.


PRINTING AT FEDEX KINKO’S STORES (U.S. and Canada customers):

FedEx Kinko’s is another great option for fast, same-day prints.
To print 8×10″ or 8.5×11″ files at FedEx Kinko’s:

  • First upload your file using their print utility on their website. 
  • Once uploaded, you will probably receive a message stating “this file contains a non-standard print size,” so you’ll want to click the “review options” button. Select “Letter – 8.5×11” for your print size. This will enlarge the 8×10 image slightly since FedEx automatically prints to fill the page. 
  • Then, continue on to your print options. The only thing you have to do here is select your paper. Under “Paper Selection,” choose “Card and Cover Stocks” and then “Ultra Bright White (Card)” for best results. 
  • The current price as of this posting is $1.24 USD. 

To print 11×14″ files:

  • Select “Tabloid – 11×17” for the print size. 
  • Select the 80lb. laser paper option (this is the heaviest weight they currently offer in this size).

To print larger sizes (16×20″ and above):

  • Select the poster printing option. The available sizes are 16×20, 18×24, 22×28, 24×36, and 36×48. 
  • Again, the software will automatically scale your file to fit the page size. The results are really nice and usually available the same day as you place your order.


Printing at Walgreens (U.S. customers):

Walgreens is my favorite location for same-day pickup of prints/posters in 11×14, 12×18, 16×20, 20×30 and 24×36 sizes.

  • Their paper texture for posters is a nice satin – not quite matte, but not slippery smooth/gloss either.  
  • Walgreens often has coupons for photo printing, so check the site before purchasing online. My local Walgreens here in New Hampshire has my posters ready within 30 minutes of ordering! 
  • Their 8×10 prints also look great, though the only paper option is glossy paper for same-day pickup.

Image profiling

Color profile is a tool that allows you to
simulate accurate color reproduction of a digital original on a monitor
computer, i.e.e. find out how the photo will look after printing
in a specific darkroom on a specific paper, and make
necessary corrections.

1) For correct work with color profiles
the first step is to make sure your computer monitor is calibrated.

If you have never calibrated your monitor, then it is not calibrated.
Accordingly, you will either need to order calibration from specialists
servicing monitors, or calibrate with your own hands by purchasing
calibrator.The latter is even preferable, since monitors have the property

The latch holding the waste bin lid is located at the front of the top panel. The lid opens easily, and in the closed position it is securely fixed.

The open lid allows you to see the simple structure of the mechanical full indicator and gives access to the garbage bag, which is fixed in the housing with a plastic frame.

The neck of the reusable cloth bag is equipped with a rubber seal that holds the end of the corrugated hose. To clean the bin, slide the square frame out of the frame in the direction of the arrow, remove the bag, remove the plastic clip from the opposite side of the container and empty the contents into the bucket.

Covers the debris outlet of the nonwoven fine filter. A yellow mesh frame secures this part securely in the case.

The bottom panel of the device is smooth. The lower part of this accessory is equipped with velor pads to facilitate sliding on hard surfaces. The weight of the hose and telescopic tube is carried by the two rollers in the heel.

The carpet brush is without any technological innovations at all. Its rollers are made of felt and are placed on the ends.The furniture cleaning attachment is equipped with a pneumatic turbo brush.

The corrugated hose construction is the same conventional and discreet appearance. There is a valve on the handle of this part that mechanically regulates the suction power. In the body of the vacuum cleaner, the hose is held in place by two latches.

The silver telescopic tube has a retainer and can be extended from 47 to 75 centimeters.

The first two sheets of the manual contain illustrations that explain how the vacuum cleaner is designed, used and maintained. This is an extremely convenient format, and we regret that not all manufacturers of household appliances have mastered it.

The Russian-language part of the manual occupies two and a half sheets and contains detailed and complete information about the device and operation of the vacuum cleaner, its care and safety measures when handling the device.However, we hardly had to consult the manual: the control of the device is intuitive and extremely simple.

Office

To operate the vacuum cleaner, there are two traditional pedals on the front panel that can be pressed by hand or foot. The left one turns on and off the device, the right one activates the mechanism for winding the electrical cord.

The suction power regulator is located between the pedals. A massive roller with a pronounced corrugation can also be rotated with your foot – you do not need to bend over to the device for this.

Operation

Preparing for work does not take much time: just unpack the vacuum cleaner and connect the hose and attachments to it. After checking that the trash bag is correctly installed, you can start work.

The maneuverability of the Candy CAFB2100 019 is simply excellent: the side wheels do not protrude beyond the dimensions of the body, and the vacuum cleaner follows the owner without the slightest difficulty when cleaning. Smooth contours also make it easy to avoid obstacles.

The design allows the device to work both horizontally and vertically.A groove for a floor nozzle on the bottom panel allows the brush with extension tube to be parked during breaks, even if the vacuum cleaner is standing upright. There is a similar notch for horizontal parking on the back of the case.

The control buttons of the device are convenient in location and shape, and they are easy to press with both hand and foot. The power control roller is also fully foot-switchable.

The power adjustment capabilities of Candy CAFB2100 019 are the widest: at the minimum suction, it allows you to gently dust off fragile glasses without shaking them, and the maximum power is perhaps even excessive for most tasks related to everyday cleaning (just below we will measure the noise and power in the laboratory).Changes occur smoothly, without leaps.

The mechanical indicator of the waste container full, as you would expect, does not show the amount of collected waste, but the pressure difference in the air path: at maximum power, when working with a slotted nozzle, the indicator goes into the red zone when the bag is barely a quarter full. And in the absence of nozzles, even with a clogged waste bin, the scale remains half green. It takes some skill to assess whether to empty the bag right now.

The consequences of prolonged operation with an overfilled dustbin or a clogged air path will result in overheating of the vacuum cleaner and its temporary shutdown. The blocking system stops work before the engine has cooled down, which takes about half an hour.

The floor nozzles have an uncomplicated design, they do not present surprises during operation: we did not find any unique design features either on the carpet brush or on the parquet nozzle.

The turbo brush for cleaning furniture is also simple and straightforward: it effectively removes wool and long hair from pile coverings, it is easy to handle and clean.

In our opinion, it would be nice to add a wide slotted nozzle and a brush with a long bristle to the basic set to perform the entire range of cleaning work in an apartment: cleaning large surfaces with a small slotted brush is inconvenient and ineffective.

After a long intensive cleaning, the surface of the dustbin compartment remains clean: all debris with dust remains inside the bag.

Slight traces of fine dust can only be observed in the space between the dustbin and the fine filter.

There is surprisingly little dust on the outside of the bag: you can take it without fear of getting your hands dirty.

To empty the bag, remove the plastic clip from the bottom and empty the contents into the trash can or bag.

A small part of the dust remains in the inner folds. If you need to clean the container more thoroughly (for example, before washing), you can unscrew the bag over the trash can. At the same time, hands do not get dirty, but, in our opinion, there is no great need to do this with each shaking out.

Dark dust marks are visible on the inside of the fine cartridge. The center section of the nonwoven filter is most dirty.

The spots on the back of the filter element are slightly lighter, but still noticeable.

We did not find any traces of dirt on the exhaust filter even after several intensive cleaning sessions. We rate the overall filtration quality as good.

Care

To maintain performance, the manufacturer recommends washing the reusable bag in warm water after every five refills.The bag must, of course, be completely dried before placing it in the vacuum cleaner.

The pre-engine and outlet filters can also be washed in warm water as they become dirty. Do not use hot water or detergents.

First of all, we are interested in the weight of the “hose + pipe + floor brush” structure, which most often has to be held in hands when cleaning.Its weight is 1030 g.

We measured the noise level when the vacuum cleaner was placed on the floor in the working position, with a telescopic tube and a universal brush. The sound level meter microphone was placed in a horizontal position at a height of 1.2 m from the floor and at a distance of 1 m from the motor unit and directed at the device. The measured value was 67 dBA in the minimum power mode and 85 dBA in the maximum one. At the maximum, the vacuum cleaner is loud, and in the minimum mode it turned out to be quieter than many manual models.

The noise emitted by the device is uniform, with a distinct high-frequency note.

We measured the suction power (what it is and how we measure it, described in a separate article) by connecting the stand to the outlet of the corrugated hose. The dependence of the suction power on the created vacuum is shown in the graph below:

At the minimum mode, Candy CAFB2100 019 operates with a power of 39 AW, and the maximum power of the device, according to our measurements, was about 328 AW.Such a difference between the minimum and maximum power appears in our practice, it seems, for the first time.

The maximum power consumption during the entire test operation was 1858 W. Accordingly, the efficiency of the device, which we define as the ratio of the suction power to the power consumed from the network, is about 17.7%.

Conclusions
