Protect your office, games and movie disks against data loss with appropriate CD and DVD accessories. Use cleaners and scratch repair kits that help remove blemishes and dirt for optimized use. CD/DVD storage cases help keep the disks away from direct sunlight and humidity. High-capacity storage options offer organization of individual collections and information. Burners and duplicators create quality copies of the information for sharing with clients or friends. Install burner drives to computers and save space, or use standalone devices that handle multiple disks.

Different Materials Provide Varied Protection

CD and DVD storage cases act as protective shells, offering a defense against scratches and falls. Soft cases are either leather, polythene, nylon or foam, which makes them flexible enough to fit into small storage spaces. Hard-case CD and DVD accessories feature metal or molded plastic construction that offer enhanced protection against intense pressure, and provide durability for extended use. Paper and plastic sleeves help prevent scratches when sharing disks with others. Consider CD/DVD wallet cases for keeping important information available and protected when traveling with a CD/DVD drive.

Different Storage Capacities Meet Different User Demands

Jewel cases or storage sleeves have a single storage compartment that protects individual disks. Storage sleeves are flexible, allowing them to accommodate three to five or more CDs comfortably. Some boxes have a capacity of more than 300 CDs, providing adequate space for collections, client files and data in a single location. CD/DVD storage cases with locking mechanisms provide reliable security against unauthorized third-party access to the contents. The high storage capacity makes them a good fit for people with duplicators who consistently reproduce data and have larger storage demands. Binders offer protection for larger numbers of disks with convenient handles that make transportation easier.

CD and DVD Accessories Help Organize Media

Arrange media in CD and DVD wallet cases with unique designs to allow for systematic storage of media drives based on importance or preference. Storage cases consist of multiple, double-sided CD and DVD sleeves, allowing the user to name them for easy retrieval. Adhesive CD holders stick on varied surfaces to keep them within reach. Large cases organize specific file types, departments and clients for quick access. Consider paper sleeves for sharing single disks easily, or plastic ones for added protection during transit. Easily organize files with CD/DVD sleeves in different colors that make the contents easy to find.

Portable CD Burners Provide Entertainment and Convenience

Portable CD and DVD burners let you access or burn data onto disks when away from the home or office. CD and DVD accessories are compatible with both Windows® and Mac™ OS laptops and computers for use across systems. Single burners with one CD drive save space by fitting easily into a bag or briefcase. Burners with multiple drives accommodate three to five CDs for fast data duplication. Plug the burner into the computer or laptop for use without an additional power outlet.

Greetings, Dear Reader! About a month did not get around to writing a new article. This step-by-step guide will show you how to make a CD cover without the help of freelancers. This can save you between $ 30 and $ 100. this is how much this service costs in runet.

After reading this article, you will be able to independently make a beautiful 3D cover for an information product disc, songs, games, etc. I will also share with you the info and all the secrets that I used to competently create the cover of the video course “English by the Method of Analogies”.

1) Image
, which will be on the cover. Use colors that will appeal to potential customers, i.e.Because the cover or box plays a huge role in the sale of the product itself. Don’t make it colorful and try to use no more than 3 colors and 2 fonts. You can use shades of the same color to avoid variegation. Otherwise, there will be porridge and there is a risk that the cover for the disc will look cheap!

I used Power Point to create the cover image. It is lighter than Photoshop, and few people know the second program.

It should be noted that a ready-made box with a disc will be sold on different sites and each author or store will publish your product in different sizes.(someone in the original, others 150 × 150, etc.) You need to write the name of the product in a bolder, more prominent font, so that your disc is visible among the products of competitors! We indicate the author and the site or blog, which will increase your traffic and from the partner sites there will be new unique visits to your blog. If the product is protected, we put a copyright mark.
2) ABBYY Screenshot Reader.
With the help of this program we take a picture of the finished image and save it on the desktop. The snapshot will have the extension snapshot-name.png This program takes pictures from the monitor and is very simple and convenient to use. She helps me a lot in all matters related to the design and construction of sites.
For the picture, select the option “image to file” or “image to file”, point at the picture itself and take a photo.

3) The resulting file is converted to .jpg format. Go to http://www.go2convert.com
-Upload local file – -Select the file – Upload now, wait a couple of seconds, select Convert Png to: JPG and then click the “Convert Now” button
Then you will see the downloaded picture again and click the Download icon next to it.Save the .jpg image next to the snapshot and pack everything on the desktop into a new folder.

And most importantly, Friends, remember that the importance of box or cover design cannot be overemphasized. If you decide to do everything yourself, then treat this case with special attention, because this will help increase sales.

Today we will learn how to create a retro CD cover. We will use various texture elements, vector images, and at the end I will show you how to reduce the finished work to CD size.

Step 1.
First, create a new 1000 × 1000pixel document with high resolution (300 dots / inch).

Step 2.
Fill the background with a gentle gray color. (# a4a5a5)

Step 3.
Now download the song “Sunset on the beach”. Paste the image into Photoshop and resize it. (press ctrl + T to invoke the free transform tool.)

Step 4.
With the Illuminator tool selected, click around the sun to illuminate this area. The Highlight Tool lets us take a custom brush, make sure you choose a large, round and soft brush. (hardness 0%)

Step 5.
Now use the Burner to darken the rocks in the background. Set the tool parameters to “shadow”, and gently paint over the rocks with a soft brush.

Step 6.
Now we need the Blur tool. Our goal is to make the composition more interesting. Also paint over the rocks with a soft and large brush as in the previous step.Below is a sample image.

Step 7.
Set the blending mode to Soft light. The image should be slightly grayed out. Don’t worry, we’ll fix it soon.

Step 8.
Press ctrl + J to duplicate the beach layer. Add a Layer Mask to the duplicated layer (click the “Add Layer Mask” button, it is at the very bottom of the Layers Window.) Make sure Black is in the foreground and press alt + delete to fill the layer mask with black. The duplicated layer is gone. Now use a soft white brush and make a spot in the center.

Step 9.
Create a new layer group and name it “Adjustments”. Here we will do all the color corrections. And do not forget that this group should always be at the very top. First, let’s lower the contrast. Go to: Layers-> New Adjustment Layer-> Brightness / Contrast and set the Contrast value to -70.

Now add a Gradient Map (Pink ”# 6f156c” through green ”# 00601b)” to orange ”# fd7c00”).Set the layer parameters to Overlay and lower the Opacity to 30%.

Add a Gradient Blend from (# e1006a) Pink through (# ecdb1f) yellow to (# 025b94) cyan. By clicking on the arrow at the top of the color picker, you can choose the Opacity of each color. Decrease the values to give the image a softer color.

Step 10.
Do not forget that the “Adjustments” layer group should always be at the very top.Create a new layer and fill it with black. Filter-> Rendering-> Flare (Zoom 50-300mm)

Set the highlight on the layer.

Step 11.
We’re done with the background. In my tutorial, I decided to play with time, so download the Hourglass Image. Open the drawing in Photoshop and use the Pen to select them.

Insert the clock into our image, and resize it appropriately (ctrl + T).

Step 12.
As you can see, the clock is completely opaque and differs from our background. To fix this, duplicate the Clock layer (ctrl + J) and set the Blending Mode options on the duplicate layer to Multiply with 90% Opacity.

Increase them and from the layer with normal parameters, erase the area that should be transparent.

Select another clock layer and erase the area where the sand is. This will give it a richer look.

Step 13.
You can use other Photoshop brushes. They are provided in a zip archive. Choose the one you like best, just copy and paste them like Smart Objects. Do not be shy.

Lower the Fill’s Opacity to 0%. And add a light blue color (# 599fac) set to Overlay with 80% Opacity.

Step 14.
The text I used is sans serif and the minimum font size is Cicle. Either way, every font will look great. The only effect added to this text is a 1px drop shadow.

Step 15.
To complete our work, we need to work on a couple of textures. We will be using a crumpled and scratched paper texture. You can use any other sample. Add texture to canvas and resize appropriately. Then go to: Filter-> Sharpness-> Sharpness.

Set this layer to Overlay and lower the Opacity to 30%. The result is great, won’t you agree?

Step 16.
Download the Thin Grunge Texture and place it on the canvas. Set the Overlay to 50% Opacity. The composition is complete, the final touch remains.

You can show your clients / friends how the graphic looks on the CD template. Download our CD mockup and open it in Photoshop to create your own design. To do this, simply double-click on the smart object thumbnail. A new window will open.

Step 17.
Place your image in the Template. Now you can close the window and enjoy the result.

Steps

Cover Printing

    Select software.
There are many computer programs available today that allow you to create and print custom CD covers, most of which are free. You can edit your own photos, add text and make them the right size for different types of boxes. Any of the following programs will perfectly cope with the task:

  • Adobe Illustrator
  • CD Label Designer
  • CD & DVD Label Maker
  • CD Cover Creator
  • Print Master Gold
  • Select size.
In some programs, the size of the future cover is selected immediately after launch, but when using universal programs like Illustrator, you will have to determine the size manually. The cover is square and 120 x 120 mm in size, so please fill in these numbers in the space provided.

    • You can also change the background color to dark gray or any other color in accordance with the basic color scheme of the future cover.
    • If you also want to create a back cover, the dimensions are 150 x 118 mm, since this will allow for space for the fold line. When creating the back cover, follow the same steps as for the front cover.
  • Create a new layer and import the cover photo. For the purposes of this article, let’s say you are using a program like Illustrator, but you should be guided by your own program. Usually you need to create a new layer on top of the base layer and then choose a suitable image for the cover.

    • Browse your saved photos or search for images on the Internet. Usually, the simpler the picture, the better. If necessary, you can later change your background color scheme to match the selected image.
    • Select Import Image, resizing as needed to fit your template. This is usually done by dragging the image.
    • If you want to replace the lost cover, you can find and save such an image from the Internet, and then import it into the program. In this case, skip the next steps and go directly to printing.
  • Add text.
Add another layer on top of the image and create a text box on the cover.Use additional fonts, size and color scheme for your image. Usually, the text is added only for the name of the album and the artist, or you can make it even easier by writing “Cool Remix from Serega” on a disc with your own music. You can do without text altogether to make the cover look as artistic as possible.

    Watch the borders.
When printing and trimming to fit, there is a chance of messing up the edges of the cover, so it is best to place important cover elements closer to the middle.Try not to place anything important closer than 5 mm from the edge.

    Print a cover.
Make sure to print to the size of the cover you want. Select Print Preview to ensure all dimensions are correct before making a physical copy.

  • Print on special durable paper.
This paper can be purchased at art stores or office supplies. The cover paper is perforated at the edges to make it easier for you to separate the front and back covers.

    • You may need to reconfigure your printer.
    • Plain printing paper can also be used if you are going to fit the cover in a sturdy box. It will look good enough.

We make covers with our own hands

    1. Prepare the box.
If you want to make a new cover for the CD box, remove the old cover and prepare the box. Remove stickers, fingerprints and other marks with a clean cloth and a little isopropyl alcohol.

      • You can also buy a new box for your disc. Boxes are available in full size, with space for a back cover, and also thin, with only a front cover. They are usually sold in bulk. Since they deteriorate over time, it is a good idea to buy new boxes.
    2. Use quality cardboard.
Select cardboard that is strong but thin enough to fit inside the box when cut to size. Be guided by the following numbers:

      • Front cover: 120 x 120 mm
      • Back cover: 150 x 118 mm
    3. Plan your cover. The image you create can be as simple or complex as you want. Considering the songs on the disc and the imagery they might inspire, start revisiting old magazines, textbooks, photographs, and other materials for your collage. We recommend that you first outline the boundaries of the location of different elements on the cover with a pencil as a template, but you can skip this and just improvise.

      • Old textbooks can be a great source of the most unexpected images and drawings that will become an excellent basis for the cover. You can buy old textbooks at a flea market or pick up discarded materials from the library
      • Try combining completely different elements to create a whimsical cover. The image on the oatmeal box can look surprisingly cool on a punk rock disc if you cut out everyone’s eyes in the picture.
      • After collecting all the images, start glueing them with a regular glue stick. It may seem overly simple, but a good quality pencil or rubber glue is usually best for glueing elements to a substrate.
    4. Decide what to do with the text.
You can draw the outlines of text by hand using a pencil and then draw over it with a dark marker, or print individual words and glue them along with images for a more homemade look.

      • Stencils can be used to create text. Stock up on stencils and stamps at your local art store.
      • Want a really punk version? Write a ransom note.Cut out individual letters from newspapers and magazines to compose the album and band names later. It will look really unconventional.
    5. Scan the finished image.
To reproduce your homemade cover, it is best to scan the finished version, save it to your computer and follow the instructions above. It will be much easier than trying to reproduce the finished result manually.

      • If you want to make a 3D image that includes a collage and hand-made elements, then it is also better to scan it and print it in 2D for a box.
  • 90,000 Blowouts, Templates. DVD Covers

Each designer has to fulfill orders for the design of CD or DVD covers one day. Many companies use branded CD / DVDs in their work with clients or personnel, therefore, the design of the branded CD packaging is necessarily included in the development of the corporate identity of the company.

If you are looking to design a DVD cover, you will need a blank (template, blank) CD / DVD and CD cover. The cover can also be of various formats – from a simple cardboard cover to a plastic one with several insert booklets.

The site junglejar.com has an interesting selection of templates for CDs and covers for CD / DVD
. All templates are made in Photoshop. PSD sources are offered for download. All elements of the proposed templates can be edited independently of each other.

    Source – http://www.junglejar.com/2009/08/10/dvd-templates/.

    Blank for CD

In the template – the workpiece, the correct diameter of the CD and the central hole has already been selected, the places for the inscription on the outer circle, for the brand names, etc.d.

    Amarey Box DVD Case Template

DVD Amarey Box – a black (less often white or matte) plastic box – a familiar packaging for DVD, which is sometimes used for CDs. The package can contain from one to 12 discs. There is a printing insert under the outer transparent shell.

Includes templates for DVD label and DVD cover.

    DVD Case Inlay

    Another DVD Cover

    DVD Plastic Case

DVD / CD Paper Case Cover

The simplest and cheapest CD packaging made of paper / cardboard. The lines on the layout show the fold lines of the finished cover.

Jewel box cover and CD label (CD Case)

Jewel box – the most common packaging for CDs, which is a plastic box 142 x 125 mm in size and 10 mm thick. In Jewel-boxes, colored double-sided printing inserts are placed under the cover. Another insert can be located under the tray on the back of the package.

No sooner had the Blu-ray disc format spread everywhere, and Blu-ray players settled in every home, as they were already outdated – mankind moved to a direct figure.
Files are simply dumped onto a USB flash drive or transmitted over the Internet. But either out of habit, or because of the beauty and materiality of the packaged boxes, or because the Internet is not everywhere powerful and ubiquitous, but there are also boxed versions.
The program has the ability to create a digital file for, there is also the ability to burn a disc.
And when the disc has already been recorded, then suffering can begin – whether to sign it carefully with a marker or pack it in the best traditions of large cd / dvd disc companies.
We will not tell you where to buy a marker 🙂 But we will tell you a little about how to make a cover for a box with a disc and how to print an image on the disc itself.
for the disc image is often referred to as “disc blowing”. The image template for the box itself may be called the “boxing template”. This suggests that English is close to many and the word boxing (box) certainly will not baffle anyone.
There are entire collections of CD templates that cost a lot of dollars, developed by professional designers. And there are even more reworking of these templates, sometimes skillful, often tasteless.
Such works save a lot of time – framed photos, changed the text and please, the cover of the graduation dvd is ready. Or “kindergarten graduation dvd cover.” The most popular are, probably, covers, disc blowers.
But even an ordinary slideshow with photos of a trip to Olkhon or Thailand can be recorded and put into a beautiful box. Moreover, the originals of photos Proshow allows you to burn to disk along with. There is such a disk, it gets on quiet dreamy evenings and the photos on it will be available, no matter how many desktops change. Perhaps this reliability is what attracts people to storing their works on disks.
If there is no printer at home for printing on discs, if there is no copy center nearby where you can print a template on a disc, then just buy a blank with a beautiful inscription. They are more expensive and they already have flowers, the words “Happy Anniversary” or “Happy Birthday”, well, or something pretty in the subject.Boys are blue, girls are pink 🙂 And then everything that is written below will become completely unnecessary for you.

When making a template for a box, measure it – boxes have different thicknesses and in case of an error, you will have to print a new one.
Check the template dimensions and set your own in the program’s print settings. Try to print a boxing draft and see if the template suits your idea of excellent and technical parameters.
You can print a cover template from or from another software program you are used to.On plain paper or photo paper. It looks better on photographic paper, but if the toad of practicality is wound up and sharpening, just buy photographic paper thinner and cheaper. This option is also suitable for the price and the quality of color reproduction. If there is no printer at all at home, you will have to go to the copy center to print the cover for the DVD box.
Another sadness that often befalls printer owners is color rendering. Everything may look gorgeous on the monitor, but it looks dull when printed on photo paper or disc.Although the disc has a special white side for printing, although it is called Printable, it does not look as clear on it as it does on the monitor. Quite an interesting coating on dvd discs for printing is multi-layer, with mother-of-pearl effects. But abstract looks better on this than photographs of a couple in love or objects.
After the blowing pattern for the disc blank is ready, it can be printed on a printer that has the function of printing on discs. We advise you to use original paints for such works. No matter how much interchangeable ink is touted, it still fades. The printer has a special program in which you can create your own disk template. They rarely work with images in Photoshop format, usually they have to translate the file into jpg.
If, after looking around at home, you could not find a printer that prints on disks, then you need to copy the file in psd format to a USB flash drive (just in case, in another format too – jpg) and go along with the disk and box to the nearest copy center.Or even call the nearest copy centers in advance and find out if they will be able to realize your wildest dream – to print an image on disk?
Everything else is prosaic and simple – find, pay, receive.
And when you have a box behind the glass in your closet with the words “Our Anniversary” or “Cyprus 2015”, you will not consider your efforts in vain. Or when you give a friend a branded box as a gift, with his personal photo, and inside a name disk with his track record, translated into a slideshow, then seeing surprise and joy, you will also definitely understand – everything was done for a reason!

For those who have firmly decided to print an individual template, we can offer blanks that can be easily altered for their own purposes.Add flowers, subtract flowers, change names and dates, add photos – that’s basically all you need when working with disk templates.

  • Create a new 4.75 “x 4.75” document. This is the standard size for a disc cover. Since our work will be printed, it is better to use Resolution – 300dpi. But in this tutorial I set the resolution to 200dpi due to the size of the photo.

After the document is created, activate the rulers (Ctrl + R) and set the guides along the edges of the canvas. Since the image will be printed, we will add margins around the edges for security.Go to the Image menu? Canvas Size and expand the canvas to 4.85 inches on each side.

    Step 2 – Room

Open the room image in Photoshop in a separate document. Save the file as “Room.psd”. The photo of the room is wide, but we need to get a square for the cover. Therefore, you need to stretch the photo without distorting it. It’s not that hard to do. Pull back the guide to enclose the square on the left side. Using the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M), make a selection on the right side of the image, copy it (Ctrl + C) and paste it on a new layer (Ctrl + V).Place a new layer on top of the photo as shown in the last screenshot below.

    Step 3 – Connection

To make the transition smooth, let’s use the Levels correction. On a new layer with a part of the wall go to the Image? Adjustments? Levels, enter the values shown below. I made the correction in two passes, but you may be able to do it the first time. After making adjustments add a layer mask (Layer? Layer Mask? Hide All). Select the Gradient Tool (G): Style – Linear.Give the mask a black and white fill as shown below.

Step 4 – Add a room to the main document

Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to make a selection on the left side of the image and press Ctrl + Shift + C to copy all the layers included in it (this avoids merging all layers into one and keep the layers editable). Go back to the first document and paste a selection (Ctrl + V). Name the layer “Room”.

    Step 5 – Add a guy

It’s time to add one of the main objects.Open the image of a seated person in a separate document in Photoshop. Use any convenient tool to make a selection of the person. I used the Polygonal Lasso Tool (L). With the Move Tool (V) drag the selection into our main document. Apply a horizontal reflection to the man layer (Edit? Transform? Flip Horizontal). The person will turn in the other direction, and will correspond to the light source. This is very important, since you do not always have the opportunity and time to take your own pictures. You have to search the internet for images that match your painting in terms of lighting, and it’s not always easy.

Using the Free Transform Tool (Control-T), resize the person and name the layer “Guy”.

    Step 6 – Total Shadow

I’m not going to create a 100% realistic picture, the main thing is showiness. For this reason, you need to create several types of shadows. The first shadows are the shadows of the room. Create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N) and name it “Room Shadow”.Select the Brush Tool (B): Size – 300px, Opacity and Flow – 50%. Set the fill color to # 151610
and outline the right side of the room. Set the Blending Mode of this layer to Multiply and lower the Opacity to 75%.

Step 7 – Add Objects: Stool

Open the photo of the stool, extract it from the background and paste it into our document. Since the background is white, there will be no problems with extraction. Using the Magic Wand Tool (W), make a selection of the white background, invert it (Ctrl + Shift + I) and the stool will be selected. Now it can be transferred to the main document.

Name the stool layer “Chair” and apply a horizontal flip (Edit? Transform? Flip Horizontal) so that the lighting of the stool matches the location of the light source.

Step 8 – Darken and Desaturate

Select the Burn Tool (O), go to the man’s layer and draw the right side (it is marked with arrows in the screenshot). Then select the Sponge Tool and desaturate the highlights.Do the same for the stool. The tool settings are shown in the screenshots.

    Step 9 – Add Raven

Open the first image of the raven and use the selection tool to extract it into our document. Name the bird layer “Raven”. Flip the crow horizontally (Edit? Transform? Flip Horizontal) and use the Free Transform Tool (Control-T) to make it larger than the man. Place the crow near the doorway.

Next, add a pixel mask to the raven layer (click on the mask icon at the bottom of the layers palette).Use the Rectangular Marquee Tool (M) to make a selection as shown in the third screenshot below. Fill the selection with black on the mask. The goal is to hide part of the wing and create the illusion that a raven is flying into the room. Thanks to the layer mask, part of the wing is only hidden, not erased, and you can return it at any time.

    Step 10 – Multiple Books

Open the image with the stack of books in Photoshop in a separate document. Make a selection of books. They have a white background, and you already know how to work with such objects.Insert the books into our document and name the layer “Books”. Resize the books and position them right above the “Chair” layer. Use the Burn Tool (O) to darken the right side of the books.

    Step 11 – Replacing the crow’s head

Now we are going to replace the raven’s head. Open the second raven image in Photoshop and use the Polygonal Lasso Tool (L) (or another selection tool) to select the head as shown in the first screenshot below. Bring the selected head into our document and apply a horizontal flip (Edit? Transform? Flip Horizontal).Name the head layer “Head” and place it above the “Crow” layer. Use the Free Transform Tool (Control-T) to resize the head and the angle. Using the technique from step 3, combine the head and body of the bird, but instead of using a gradient fill, use a black brush. If necessary, remove unnecessary parts of the crow’s head from the “Crow” layer.

    Step 12 – More books

Since the raven flutters its wings, the wind is created. We’ll add an open book to make this fact visible.Open the image of the open book in a separate document and extract it into our document. Name the layer “Open Book”, place it under the bird and darken the right side with the Burn Tool (O).

Additionally, you can add a few more books to the bottom of the canvas.

    Step 13 – Shadows

Make a copy of the “Raven” layer (Control-J) and drag it wide using the Free Transform Tool (Control-T) (see the first screenshot below). Then, with this copy, go to the Hue / Saturation adjustment (Image? Adjustments? Hue / Saturation) and lower the Lightness to -100.Then apply a Gaussian Blur (Filter? Blur? Gaussian Blur) with a value of 8 pixels. Lower the copy’s Opacity to 50%.

    Step 14 – More Shadows

Now I will describe one technique that we will apply to each object in the painting.

Create a new layer below the object you are creating the shadow for, in this case, under the “Raven” layer. Name it “Raven Shadow” and select a large soft brush with the color # 110C06.
and draw a shadow where the arrow shows in the first screenshot below. Then create a new layer “Front Shadow” above the object and paint a shadow over it, in this case over the bird. Then select the Eraser Tool (E) with soft edges and 50% opacity and erase some areas of the shadow on the object (from the “Front Shadow” layer), which, in your opinion, should have a glow. To keep the layers well organized, merge all the layers of the object and the object itself into a group (select them and press Ctrl + G). Give the groups names too.

Step 15 – Shadows and shadows again

Using the shading technique from the previous step, work on an open book.Use the Smudge Tool to make the shadow blend well with the background (the wall in this case).

Step 16 – Shadow from the guy

As with the raven, make a copy of the man’s layer (Ctrl + J), lower the brightness through the Hue / Saturation adjustments, lower the opacity and paint shadows as in step 14. Be careful when creating shadows under the sneakers.

Step 17 – Shadows from the stool and books

Repeat the shading process for the stool with books and books on the floor.Try to achieve not realism, but showiness. Create as many shadows as you see fit. But remember that the image should not get too dark.

Step 18 – Shadows of Room

Select a large, soft brush with the color # 110C06.
and paint the edges of the room on a new layer “Front shadows”. This layer should be above the “Room” layer. Lower the layer’s Opacity to 50%.

Step 19 – Words on the Walls

According to the plot of the book, the guy was obsessed with love for his girlfriend Lenore. To convey this feeling, I decided to add a large number of lettering of the girl’s name on the walls.

First create a new document in Photoshop (any size). Fill the background layer with gray (# A0A0A0
). Using several handwritten fonts, write the name Lenore in different angles and sizes. When you’re done, make a selection of the entire canvas (Ctrl + A), and copy everything (Ctrl + Shift + C).

Step 20 – Using the Vanishing Point Filter to Position the Graffiti on the Wall and Ceiling

Create a new layer (Ctrl + Shift + N) and name it “Wall words”.This layer should be above the “Room” group. Go to the Filter? Vanishing Point. Draw grids on the walls and ceiling. If you are not familiar with this filter, read these tutorials first: and.

Once the meshes are created, insert the labels in the filter window and resize. You may not be able to do everything the first time, so don’t be afraid to try again and again. Once you’re done positioning the labels, set the Blending Mode to Overlay.

    Tip:
Windows 7 may experience problems with the Vanishing Point filter. For some reason, Windows Aero conflicts with this filter. Therefore, it is better to move on to the theme of “Windows 7 Basic” for a while.

Step 21 – Remove unnecessary words

Using the Polygonal Lasso Tool (L), make a selection of areas of the room where there should be no inscriptions. On the “Wall Words” layer, hit Delete. Set the Opacity of the layer to 50%.

Step 22 – Motion Blur for Raven

Since the crow in our picture is in motion, we need to show this effect through the filter.Make a copy of the “Raven” layer and position it above the original. Apply a Motion Blur filter to it (Filter? Blur? Motion Blur). Add a pixel mask to the copy and use a soft black brush to erase the blur from some parts of the crow.

Step 23 – Flying Sheets of Paper

Open an image of an old sheet of paper in Photoshop. Extract it from the background into our document and place it on top of all layers. Go to Warp Mode (Edit? Transform? Warp) and reshape the leaf as shown below.

Repeat this step several times and create sheets of different shapes. Combine all these layers into a group (Ctrl + G).

Step 24 – Add Flying Paper Shadows

Select the flying paper group and merge it into one layer (Ctrl + E). Use the Burn Tool (O) to darken some areas of the paper. Using the previously described technique for adding shadows from objects, create two layers and paint shadows under and above the paper. Finally, you can repeat the blurring process as in step 22.Place all these layers in the “Art” group.

    Step 25 – Add Header

Use the Horizontal Type Tool (T) to write “THE RAVEN” (the name of the disc or movie). I used the font “Trajan”. If you wrote the title on different layers, place them in the “Title” group. Right click on the group and select Convert to Smart Object. Select this layer and go to the 3D menu? New 3D Postcard From Layer. The smart object will turn into a 3D object and the text will remain editable.Regardless of the number of changes in perspective, rotation and depth, you will always have the opportunity to change the text.

Apply Bevel & Emboss and Gradient Overlay styles to the 3D object. Ignore the position of the light and shadow, we’ll deal with that later.

Step 26 – Change the perspective of the text

Use the 3D Rotate Tool to position the text on the wall to match its perspective. After that apply the Drop Shadow style to the text.

    Step 27 – Change Text

It happens that customers want to change something in the process. Therefore, it is always important to keep layers editable. In this step, we will add a couple of words to the title. You need to double click on the “Title” layer of the Diffuse texture in the layers palette. A new document “Title.psd” will open, in which you will find a smart object with text. Double click on it and a document with a text layer “Title2.psd” will open. Complete one line of text. To apply the changes, you will need to save both “Title” documents.

Step 28 – Add Grunge Noise

Set the default colors (D), create a new “Noise” layer above the text layer.Apply the Clouds filter (Filter? Render? Clouds), then apply the Add Noise filter (Filter? Noise? Add Noise). Set the Blending Mode of this layer to Overlay and lower the Opacity to 35%.

    Step 29 – Correction Levels

The whole picture looks a little dark at the moment. Therefore, on top of all layers, create an adjustment layer Levels (Layer? New Adjustment Layer? Levels) with the settings shown below.

This completes the creation of our raven painting. Further steps will describe the process of adding a picture to the disc box.Make a selection of the entire canvas (Ctrl + A) and copy it (Ctrl + Shift + C).

    Step 30 – Disc Box

Sometimes customers want to see what the final product will look like. In this case, sending them only the cover would be inappropriate. We will now overlay the painting onto the front of the disc box. Open the boxed CD image and save the document as “mockup.psd”. Create a new layer and go to the Filter? Vanishing Point. Draw a grid and paste in the copied image.

Step 31 – Disc Cover Shape

Since the image is inside, you need to cut out some areas. Add a mask to the image layer and select the Polygonal Lasso Tool (L). Make a selection of the small shapes that hold the cover inside the disc and fill them with white. To see the objects that need to be selected, lower the Opacity of the image layer.

    Step 32 – Plastic

We will fill the gradient over the cover to create a glossy plastic.Apply the following styles to the picture layer:

    Step 33 – Add Background

Finally, insert the paper texture under the disc layer. Set the Blending Mode of the disc box layer to Multiply. I darkened the texture with a fill layer with color # 36312D
under the texture. I also added a Levels adjustment layer and created vignetting using a radial black and white gradient. See the screenshot below to understand the process.

Hello, dear readers. Finally, I found some time for a new blog post. And then you probably already missed it? In today’s tutorial, I will show and tell you a DVD using the GIMP editor.

If you remember, earlier I showed a more interesting and expensive version of software in the style of scrapbooking.

I do not argue, this is a very difficult option in all respects. It takes both time and the right materials, and hands must grow from the right place.

What to do if you still want to decorate the disc beautifully? I’m sorry, what? The simplest thing is to buy a ready-made box for a disc (you can find it in any computer store) and insert the corresponding cover into it.

So friends. Today you will just learn how to create and draw covers for disc boxes.
.And as always, for these good purposes we will use.

Ready? Then let’s start a new lesson.

GIMP Tutorial – How to Make a Disc Cover

    Step 1.
First of all, we go to the store and buy a standard plastic box-box (end 13 mm).

    Step 2.
Now we need to know the dimensions of the cover that we will be producing. See if you have a DVD movie lying around in your closet? If you find one, then great! Take out the cover and measure it with a ruler.

And if there are no ready-made DVDs with a cover, and you don’t want to search. Then I’ll tell you a secret, so be it! The size of the finished cover on DVD disc is 273 mm by 183 mm.

    Step 3.
Now you know the size. What’s next? Launch the GIMP editor and through the menu “FILE-CREATE”
    Create a new document.

In the dialog box that opens, first select millimeters from the drop-down menu, and only then set our dimensions.

    Click on item “Advanced parameters”
and set a new value for the “Resolution” parameter – 300 points.

    Step 4.
Now, using the guides, you need to select the central part of the cover, where the butt will be located.
To do this, go to “Image – Guides – Create Guide”

In the window that opens, set the following settings:

    Click OK.

We repeat this step again, but with different settings:

The result of the work done will be the following:

Did it work? A small bonus, if you don’t want to mess around with this step, you can download my template already with marked guides for the GIMP program.
    Step 5.
Now we temporarily set the editor aside and go to look for materials for the cover.

For today’s example I will make a cover for a CD with photos
from the birthday, which took place in a nightclub. Accordingly, in the design (cover design), we must adhere to the style and theme of the event.

Minor legal derogation. Remember! Each image has its own copyright holder (the owner of the image). Therefore, it is more correct to buy an image on special photo stocks, where you legally acquire the RIGHT to use the purchased image, and not to TAKE the image from the search, as will be discussed further for EDUCATIONAL purposes.

And so, we need a BACKGROUND. To do this, in the Google search engine, I enter the phrase “ nigntclub backgraund” in English
, after that I switch to the PICTURES tab and choose the one I like. In this case, you need to pay attention to the size of the selected background. The bigger, the better.

    I liked this one:

Note that I am entering the phrase in English. The thing is that in my phrase the keyword background
, which is translated into Russian as FON.

Why not search for pictures in Russian at once? I argue that there are MORE English-speaking users in the Internet world and, accordingly, “CONTENT” (videos, pictures, etc.) is also MORE.

What else do we need? Let’s find a colorful title page title with Happy Birthday
. Again I turn to GUGL and enter – happy birthday.

I choose the first liked picture:

    Step 6.
Now that the materials have been selected, we return to the GIMP editor.

Go to menu “FILE-OPEN AS LAYER”
    and open the background image.

    Step 8.
Add our header to the working draft. To do this, go back to the menu “FILE-OPEN AS LAYER”
and select the file with the header.

    Step 9.
    With tool ZOOM
    and MOVEMENT
resize the inserted image to the size of the graphic field and position the layer as mine.

    Step 10.
Now let’s start decorating. Create a new transparent layer. On it we will draw a small curved line at the bottom of the cover. For this I will take the tool CONTOURS
    and create such a line.

After creating the contour, press the button “REMOVAL FROM THE CIRCUIT”

    Step 11.
Fill the resulting area with GRADIENT
with a smooth transition. Let’s take the colors from the background as samples. Now my subtotal looks like this.Click on the screenshot to enlarge it.

    Step 12.
Now you need to edit the inserted title. Now it clearly does not fit into the framework of our project. Remove the white background color from it.

To do this, once again make sure that we are on the layer with the title and go to the menu “COLOR – COLOR TO ALPHA CHANNEL”,
    where we click OK.

After that, click on the icon for creating a new layer and fill this layer with WHITE COLOR.

    Step 13.
What else? Let’s select the central area (butt) a little bit. To do this, I’ll create another TRANSPARENT layer on top of the others and fill it with white. Please note that we will only fill the end face by first creating a RECTANGULAR SELECTION
between the guides. Change the transparency of the layer with the slider to 50%.

    Step 14.
Basically, I showed you the basic techniques for adding elements to the cover. Now you yourself can insert the necessary decorations that you consider necessary, for example, using the TEXT tool, add an inscription to the end.

    Step 15.
Now is the time to deal with the CORRECT printing of this cover. Next, I’ll tell you how I do it.

Via the EXPORT menu and close the editor.
    Step 16.
Open the Open office text editor (Libre office or WORD).

Change the page orientation to ALBUM.At Libre office
this is done via menu FORMAT-PAGE-ORIENTATION ALBUM.

    STEP 18.
Now right-click on the inserted image and select the item IMAGE FORMAT from the context menu
    .

In the window that opens, press the “ORIGINAL SIZE” button and close the WINDOW.

Step 19. Now let’s move the image approximately in the center with the mouse and that’s ALL. We save the result.

    Step 20.
To save, go to the menu FILE – EXPORT to PD
    F.

Click OK there. As a result, we get a file that you can safely print.

    Step 21.
Important! When you print the created PDF file, set in the print settings to 1: 1 SCALE
rather than FIT size in print setup.

After that, you will receive a printed COVER with the dimensions of the graphic area 273 by 183, which you just need to carefully cut with scissors, or even better with a stationery knife along the ruler.

    Conclusion

That’s all for today. In this tutorial, I showed you the process for making a CD cover.
in the free GIMP editor. Now, according to the presented algorithm, you can make your own DVD covers yourself and thereby design your home collection of photos or videos.

Program for preparing printing on a cd disk. Need to create a CD cover? Programs for creating disc covers. Promote new songs with song cover art

The creation of stickers for self-recorded discs is a good opportunity to add additional aesthetics to a family archive of photo and video recordings, as well as help in structuring the archive of films. So, if a disc falls into a “foreign” box, you will immediately see it. In this article, we’ll show you how to do this.

    Purchase of suitable paper

Almost all laser printers are suitable for printing on self-adhesive labels. This is indicated in the instructions for the product – find the page that lists the acceptable types of media (this may include plain paper, photo paper, stickers, etc.).

It is more difficult with inkjet printers: firstly, not all models are suitable for this type of media, and secondly, for a specific model it will be necessary to select appropriate labels for it.Otherwise, it may be necessary to repair office equipment 🙂

Self-adhesive disc labels are usually sold in A4 format – two labels are placed on one sheet, which are already cut to the shape of the disc. You just need to print a picture on them and stick it on a disk.

Creating a cover with Nero CoverDesigner

After you have purchased the appropriate paper, you need to create the actual images that will be applied to it. For this purpose, different programs can be used.We will tell you how to work in the simplest and most common – Nero CoverDesigner.

    1. Start the Nero Burning Rom program. If it is not there, then you need to download and install.
    2. In the main menu, go to the “Add-ons” tab, and then click on “Make a sticker or label”:
    1. CoverDesigner will open. Then you can choose either a ready-made template, or an “empty” option, which has already been filled with the desired picture and signature.
    2. Select the desired image, adjust its location on the disk. You can add an inscription.
    1. When ready, start printing. Be sure to check that the media type and size are correct in the settings.

Sticking a label on a disc

It shouldn’t be too difficult. The main thing is to do it carefully. Just line up the decal and the outside of the disc evenly along the outline.

Another way to create stickers for discs

There is a more artisanal method:

    1. Special paper is being purchased.
    2. In any program that works with images, the desired picture is created immediately taking into account the edges of the disk. For example, in Corel or Photoshop. For simple tasks, you can do with Paint. If the image will crawl out over the edges of the label, that’s okay. You stick on the area you want anyway, the rest goes to the trash can.
    3. Now the most important thing is to set the correct print settings before giving a command to the printer. Pay particular attention to media type and resolution.

If you managed to get “single” stickers (when a label for one disc is placed on one sheet), keep in mind that this is A5 format, for it you should specify a resolution of 140×210.

    1. The last step is to attach the label to the disc.

With this method, you will have to work hard to correctly align the position of the image on the sheet with the area of the label sheet that will be transferred to the disc.

    Instead of conclusion

In the article, we considered only the option of printing labels on a regular home printer. There are devices with a special mechanism that immediately applies a sticker to the disc. We left this behind the scenes, since those who have such equipment already know how to use it.

    Development of CD covers

Use company colors and fonts for covers. This will once again emphasize your corporate identity. It will be easier for the client to navigate in all the abundance of advertising information surrounding him.

You can create an image cover, a real work of art. Only at the same time, do not forget about your ultimate goals and audience characteristics.

In recent years, in the West and in the Russian business environment, information contained in catalogs, brochures and other printed products has been electronically duplicated on CD and DVD discs. Further, depending on the situation and distribution method, separate directories, separate disks or a set from a directory with a duplicate and supplementary disk are used. Usually discs are easier to send by mail, provide them for review of the content at a convenient time for the client. Catalogs and other printed products are intended primarily so that the client can on the spot (be it a stand at an exhibition, a company office or negotiations) get acquainted with the information he needs without using additional technical means.
