Converting to Non-Photo Blue

As a comic artist, you probably hear people occasionally blue line. In simple terms, blue line is a process of converting line art to a non-photo reproductive blue so that when work is scanned the blue will not be visible in the final product. For those who work traditionally you can buy non-photo blue pencils however if you want to enlarge a rough pencil sketch and rework it or if you work digitally and want to print out your line art for penciling or inking you may be wondering how can I print something in blue line? There are two methods that I know for turning line art into a non-photo blue. The easiest option is to use Clip Studio Paint (also know as Manga Studio.)

Clip studio paint provides a one click solution to converting line art to non-photo blue. In the screenshot below you can see the small blue icon at the top of my screen located under the layer properties panel. Once you scan in your artwork and open it in Clip Studio, all you have to do is click the button and it will automatically convert all of your line work to blue. You can adjust the color of the converted line work as you wish, I prefer to work over a lighter shade of blue than the default, but as far as I know blue is one of the easier colors to get rid of in the final product.

The alternative route for converting linear to blue line is through Photoshop. Photoshop requires more steps than Clip Studio so It may take some practice to remember how to do this. Once you import your scan to Photoshop you will need to change the image mode to grayscale (Image>Mode>Grayscale) and say yes when it asks to discard color information. Once you convert to grayscale you will once again change the image mode but this time you will change it to duotone (Image>Mode>Duotone.) When you select Duotone, Photoshop will give you a prompt like this one:

At this screen, you will see “Ink 1” and a black box. Select the black box and a color picker window will appear. From here you will go into the CMYK settings and change it to C:30 M:0 Y:0 K:0. This will give you a shade of blue that is light enough to be removed when you scan in your finished artwork. Other artist changes these settings based on their preferences; some prefer a 10%K instead so that they don’t have to worry about getting rid of the blue color.

And now you know how to convert your line art to non-photo blue! From here you just need to print out your line art and work over what you printed. This may require a larger printer but you can check with any print shop to see if they can print on Bristol, watercolor paper or whatever material you intend to work on. I hope this information was helpful to you and please share this information with your friends and fellow artists! Caran d’Ache Non Photo Blue Pencil

Recently I’ve written a review for my Pilot Color Eno Mechanical pencil, and wrote a post detailing several processes that utilize bluelines, so I figured it was time I review a traditional wooden non photo blue pencil.  The Caran d’Ache nonphoto blue pencil , “Sketcher”,  has been lauded by many as being the upgrade the non photo blue pencil needed, as it’s supposedly more erasable than Stadtler’s nonphoto blue pencils, and Caran d’Ache is a well respected brand amongst art materials.  If you want an exercise in upselling a product’s limited virtues, you should check out the Sketcher on Caran d’Ache’s site.

I believe I purchased my pencil openstock at the Dick Blick in Savannah, Georgia, a couple years ago, so much of what makes it so special may have degraded over the year.  If you were to purchase a new pencil, you can get two for $5.19 on Dick Blick.  If you are a fan of wooden pencils, you may wish to take my review with a grain of salt, as I personally prefer mechanical pencils due to their ease of use.

I decided to go ahead and give the Sketcher a shot and put it to use during the OC Challenge to draw Naomi cosplaying as her favorite character, Katara from Avatar.

I personally found the Caran d’Ache to be a bit clumsy to use, but this is probably because I’m much more comfortable drawing with mechanical pencils than I am with using traditional wooden pencils.  I do use black color pencils for thumbnail illustrations, gesture drawing, and doodling, but I usually keep several sharpened and within reach so I don’t have to constantly stop to sharpen.  Although the Sketcher is less waxy than Stadtler’s non photo blue pencil, it isn’t more crumbly or prone to breakage, although I did find it somewhat more difficult to erase than Color Eno’s Soft Blue lead.  This may be due to the age of the pencil’s eraser, or just the quality of the eraser itself- I usually opt for vinyl erasers over those that come with the pencils.

I found that the nonphoto blue pigment built up much quicker than the Color Eno soft blue mechanical pencil lead, and made it difficult for me to refine shapes.

I was able to ink on top of the Caran d’Ache lead with little difficulty and no significant increase in drying time.

Caran d’Ache Non Photo Blue Wooden Pencil

$5.19 for 2

Fairly available- you can purchase at most major art supply stores, or online at DickBlick

Moderately easy to erase

Comes with own eraser

Eraser seems to have degraded over the years, but even at its best, it wouldn’t be as good as most white vinyl erasers

Pilot Neox Color Eno in Soft Blue

$3.30 on Jetpens

Not easily available, I purchase mine en masse from Jetpens

Very easily erased

Can be purchased as just the leads, for use in your pencil of choice, or in the Pilot Color Eno Mechanical pencil

Not lightfast- if you leave your sketches out in direct light, they will eventually fade.

Stadtler Non Photo Blue Wooden Pencil

Fairly available, most large art and hobby stores carry these pencils, as do most art supply stores

Extremely waxy

Difficult to erase

Looking for more info about the Caran d’Ache “Sketcher”?  Still unsure what non photo blue sketching medium is right for you?  Give these Dick Blick reviews a read.  Cult Pens has some info regarding the history of the brand, and you can always watch some videos of the Sketcher in action.

Review of Sanford Prismacolour Non-photo blue pencils

WARNING: Comic talk ahead!

I wanted to write a short review of the ‘non-photo’ blue pencils I have been using lately. I’m doing this so that if you have to order these things through the mail or don’t want to waste money trying and buying these things then hopefully this review will point you in the right direction.
There are three pencils that I have come across. There are other types and brands, but these are the ones I have had experience with and I think may be the most commonly used in comics.

1-Sanford col-erase non-photo blue. (pictured)
This pencil’s lead is quite hard and hardly shows up on the paper. This is good if you only want faint marks as guidelines and not so much an actual finished drawing. There is an eraser on the end that actually works to a certain degree. Although it’s really only for peace of mind as you don’t need to erase the pencil after inking anyway. I found this pencil too light to do actual finished or rough outlined drawings with. But if you were wanting a pencil to use in conjunction with a photocopier this may be a better option.

2-Sanford Verithin non-photo blue. (pictured)
A lot softer than the col-erase non-photo blue and would be better for a more finished drawing approach. Although I find this lays down too much of a waxy coat and makes inking with my tech pen difficult and clogs the pen. I imagine it would work better with brush or dip pen but I haven’t tried this as yet.

3-Sanford Col-erase light blue (not pictured but looks the same as the col-erase non photo)
Although not officially non-photo it does the same as the non-photo (the blue’s light enough not to show up in copies) this one puts down a slightly darker line than the col-erase non-photo and it’s softness lands in between the Col-erase and verithin non-photo pencils.

I was initially pointed to the possibility of using this pens from Jessica Abels and Matt Maddens great book on comics ‘Writing pictures and drawing words’. I find that you can get a much more finished drawing out of the light blue as opposed to the non-photo, and would definitely recommend it as the best one to draw with for inking.

Conclusion.
I ended up settling on the light blue col-erase pencil. I enjoy the darker line it lays down and it’s not too hard not too soft lead. From the tests I’ve done the line seems to disappear as easily as the non photo blue in Photoshop.

I usually just use the ‘threshold’ option in ‘Image>Adjustments’ in photoshop. I have seen that you can take out the blue by going into ‘Image>Adjustments>hue&Saturation’ then from the drop down list (default is ‘master’) choose either blue or cyan and increase the brightness. The blue will then disappear. But from my tests I have not found this to be any be any better than the threshold option.

I have also found that a gentle erasing helps, especially if using the light blue instead of the non photo. You don’t have to get rid of all the blue, just knock the blue back a little.

My advice: Buy one of each and try them out, they’re $1 each. Go crazy and blow $3 on your art.

Update: I later went on to discover Pilot Eno colour mechanical pencils, I still use and enjoy the light blue col-erase, and sometimes I even use a H pencil for similar light effect when penciling. I have found the soft blue and green Eno pencil leads to be good for comic work, especially if you like the fine point of a mechanical pencil.

Why use non-photo blue pencils?

  • The light blue colour does not show up when scanned and edited correctly in Photoshop. It also shouldn’t show up in a photocopy but a more sensitive copier may pick it up
  • If the blue doesn’t show up then there is no need for erasing…
  • Ever ripped a page erasing lines, ever gotten sick of the pile of eraser dust at your feet, ever dirtied a page from excessive overdrawing?
  • The blue pencil doesn’t smudge as much as regular grey lead pencils.

-It looks nifty 😉 This is the reason I’m leaving the blue in for the web versions of my latest comics, I’m hoping this also helps differentiate them from the B&W versions that will be collected in book format.

10 Things You Might Not Know About Voyager’s Famous ‘Pale Blue Dot’ Photo – NASA Solar System Exploration

Thirty years ago on Feb. 14, 1990, NASA’s Voyager 1 spacecraft sent home a very special Valentine: A mosaic of 60 images that was intended as what the Voyager team called the first “Family Portrait” of our solar system.

The spacecraft was out beyond Neptune when mission managers commanded it to look back for a final time and snap images of the worlds it was leaving behind on its journey into interstellar space.

It captured Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, Earth and Venus. A few key members didn’t make the shot: Mars was obscured by scattered sunlight bouncing around in the camera, Mercury was too close to the Sun and dwarf planet Pluto was too tiny, too far away and too dark to be detected. But the images gave humans an awe-inspiring and unprecedented view of their home world and its neighbors.

One of those images, the picture of Earth, would become known as the “Pale Blue Dot.” The unique view of Earth as a tiny speck in the cosmos inspired the title of scientist Carl Sagan’s book, “Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space,”

But the image almost didn’t happen.

Here are 10 things you might not know about Voyager 1’s famous Pale Blue Dot photo.

1. Not in the Plan

Neither the “Family Portrait” nor the “Pale Blue Dot” photo was planned as part of the original Voyager mission. In fact, the Voyager team turned down several requests to take the images because of limited engineering resources and potential danger to the cameras from pointing them close to the Sun. It took eight years and six requests to get approval for the images.

2. A Unique Perspective

Voyager 1 remains the first and only spacecraft that has attempted to photograph our solar system. Only three spacecraft have been capable of making such an observation: Voyager 1, Voyager 2 and New Horizons. (Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11 — the other two spacecraft headed into interstellar space — had similar vantage points, but technical challenges prevented them from getting such a shot.)

This data visualization uses actual spacecraft trajectory data to show the family portrait image from Voyager 1’s perspective in February 1990. Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech

3. A Mote of Dust

The Voyager imaging team wanted show Earth’s vulnerability — to illustrate how fragile and irreplaceable it is — and demonstrate what a small place it occupies in the universe. Earth in the image is only about a single a pixel, a pale blue dot.

4. A Happy Coincidence

The image contains scattered light that resembles beams of sunlight, making the tiny Earth appear even more dramatic. In fact, these sunbeams are camera artifacts that resulted from the necessity of pointing the camera within a few degrees of the Sun.

Voyager 1 was 40 astronomical units from the Sun at the time so Earth appeared very near our brilliant star from Voyager’s vantage point. One astronomical unit is 93 million miles, or 150 million kilometers That one of the rays of light happened to intersect with Earth was a happy coincidence.

Look again at that dot. That’s here. That’s home. That’s us.

– Carl Sagan, “Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space.”

5. Carl Sagan’s Dream Shot

The prominent planetary scientist Carl Sagan (1934-1996) — a member of the Voyager imaging team — had the original idea to use Voyager’s cameras to image Earth in 1981, following the mission’s encounters with Saturn. Sagan later wrote in poetic detail about the image and its meaning in his book, “Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space.”

“Look again at that dot.” Sagan wrote. “That’s here. That’s home. That’s us.”

6. Cold Cameras

Voyager 1 powered up its cameras for the images on Feb. 13 and it took three hours for them to warm up. The spacecraft’s onboard tape recorder saved all the images taken, for later playback to Earth.

7. Light Time

The images of Earth snapped by Voyager 1 captured light that had left our planet five hours and 36 minutes earlier. (This was, of course, reflected sunlight that had left the Sun eight minutes before that.)

8. Downloading…

Voyager 1 snapped this picture from a distance of 7.25 million miles. It was the first to include both the Earth and the Moon in a single frame taken by a spacecraft. Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech | › Full image and caption

Voyager 1 was so far from Earth it took several communications passes with NASA’s Deep Space Network, over a couple of months, to transmit all the data. The last of the image data were finally downloaded on Earth on May 1, 1990.

9. Another Unique Perspective

Voyager 1 also took the first image of the entire Earth and Moon together near the start of its mission on Sept. 18, 1977. The images were taken 13 days after launch at a distance of about 7.3 million miles (11.66 million kilometers) from Earth.

10. Parting Shot

After taking the images for “The Family Portrait” at 05:22 GMT on Feb. 14, 1990, Voyager 1 powered down its cameras forever. As of early 2020 the spacecraft is still operating, but no longer has the capability to take images.

Why I’m Not Turning My Facebook Photo Blue, White & Red.

For more: Show *this* to all those saying “Muslims are the problem.”

Symbols and unity are beautiful, elephriends. The author is urging, merely, that we can slow down.

Some of the most hateful and bigoted comments we’ve received today have been from folks, understandably angry, with red-white-blue profile pics. There’s nothing wrong with them, as a symbol of unity and grief and love. But we can do more: and we must. See Jamie’s article below to see what she’s actually urging, as well as the video. ~ ed.

Original Editor’s note. I read Jamie’s letter, below, earlier today, and asked Jamie if I might share it with you dear elephant readers. We then had the ensuing conversation, which I think underlines her point: there’s nothing wrong with changing your profile picture, of course…but:

Waylon: I haven’t changed my profile for the same reason, more or less. We need to actually walk our talk, not just post colored pictures. Elephant has received so many bigoted comments from hateful people with their photos in red, white and blue today. It means less than nothing, often.

Jamie: Exactly. I understand some people have their reasons for it and it is meaningful to them. I’m not even saying don’t do it. The point is to be mindful of why you’re doing it.

Waylon: Yes, that’s why I said often. It’s not bad, it can mean something, but if it’s just a speedy quick social media tip of the hat, well, better to slow down and feel this tragedy and walk in kindness more fully after doing so.  ~ Ed.

I won’t be adding the French flag filter to my Facebook profile photo.

I’m also not writing condolence and prayer messages on my Facebook feed, tagged with #PrayforParis.

It is not because I don’t care, or that I don’t feel the profound shock and sadness for what has happened.

In fact, it’s because I find it so absolutely awful that I’ve chosen not to engage in this way. I feel that just changing my photo, writing a few words and a hashtag on social media minimizes (even cheapens) the tremendous, horrific reality of what is going on all around the world, not just in Paris. From suffering arises another trendy social media gimmick, another way for us to show the world how “clued in” and “with it” we are.

Why do we change our photos, really? To show solidarity? But what does that even mean and how does a temporary Facebook photo do it? I’m not trying to be provocative, insulting or offensive toward people who have changed their photos. I understand that people have of their own reasons for doing so. In saying this, I’m not saying we shouldn’t participate or that it’s all and only a bad thing.

I’m saying: can we please just be a little bit more mindful as to what we’re churning out on our feeds?

Personally, my own Facebook settings are highly private, so only my friends see my posts. For me to change my profile photo or make a statement will only be seen by my friends; I don’t think I need to prove my stance, solidarity or affiliations among people I call my friends. The people I know in Paris—or any other place that is hit by tragedy—are in my thoughts and in my messages; I just don’t feel the need to broadcast this to the world. I’ve found ways to reach out to them directly to find out how they are, and offer support in whatever way they need now. This is my way of responding to a conflict that I feel is more meaningful than merely changing my photo. Again, just because my profile pic remains un-filtered, doesn’t mean I don’t care or that I’m not engaged.

A large part of my work now involves reading about and researching the violence that is implicit in our everyday lives, the insiduous harm that is done to people just like you and me in every corner of the world—in first or third worlds, in peaceful cities or conflict-ridden states, to every class, race, gender, sexuality, ability and age.

Every day, as I sit with the reality of all this violence, I wonder what it would feel like to have a truly equal, peaceful, respectful, loving world; and how we can begin to make that happen in our own small sleepy villages or heaving city centres, wherever we call home and whatever may be happening there.

I believe that’s the question we should be asking every single day if we really want to do something to show solidarity and support for France, Iraq, Lebanon, Turkey, the refugees, Syria, Palestine, the Yazidi community, the Nigerian girls, the shootings in the U.S., the Nepal earthquake victims, the women in your neighbourhood who risk assault every time they leave their homes, the young girls destroying their bodies trying to fit into the world.

Let me be clear again that I’m not saying you shouldn’t change your photo, or post a prayer for Paris (or anywhere else). By all means do. But please don’t let it stop at that. Please don’t just get swept up in a social media frenzy and do it because it “looks good” or “feels” like the right thing to do. Pause for a moment just to ask what it means to you to filter your pictures and hashtag your posts: What do you hope to achieve with it and will you be able to achieve it fully in this way? Would you also change your photo if there had been an option for Lebanon, Kenya, Nigeria, Turkey, Palestine…or any other country in the world that suffered just as incredible a loss, even if you’d never heard of the place?

Why or why not?

What else could you be doing—whether or not the news is filled with distressing headlines—that would be (more) meaningful, bring about tangible support, in your world right now?

Please let those millions of lives lost in conflict be worth more than a quickie photo change or an easy hashtagged prayer.

Let them be the reason you do something different and really kind today, to share support and effect change for even a single person.

90,000 What color are the strawberries in this photo? Hint: no, not red

Photo by Matt Lieberman / Twitter

This photo of a strawberry cake is being actively discussed on the Internet. Why?

At first glance, this is just a picture of poor quality – perhaps the author has gone too far with the filters.

In fact, everything is somewhat more complicated: the fact is that there are no red pixels in the picture – which does not prevent us from seeing red berries.

The red color of strawberries exists only in our imagination: the mind deceives us, since the berries are depicted on a blue background.

Under different lighting conditions, things and colors look different – for example, under office fluorescent fluorescent lamps or in the soft lighting of the living room.

However, our brain independently corrects the image so that we can still see the red strawberry, no matter where and under what circumstances we eat it.

This feature of human perception is called “color constancy”.

“Your brain says,” The light source I see these strawberries in is giving them some blue, so I automatically remove the blue from each pixel, “explains color expert Bevil Conway in an interview with Motherboard.

“And when you take the gray pixels and remove the blue, the result is that the image looks red to you,” explains Conway.

Of course, we know that strawberries should be red, and it also helps the mind to correct the color of the image.

The first photo of a strawberry cake was posted by Akiyoshi Kitaoka.

Photo author, Akiyoshi Kitaoka / Twitter

Then Matt Lieberman joined the discussion by posting on Twitter a slightly modified picture, which, however, also did not contain red pixels.

Photo by Matt Lieberman / Twitter

Many responded to Matt’s post by adding gray rectangles to his picture for comparison. Carson Mall took color swatches from several places that appear red to us and placed them on a white background.

Photo by Carson Mell / Twitter

Caption,

“I took some flowers, which seem to be the most” red “places of the strawberries, and overlaid them on the white background on the right”

And Tim Hutton added a gray stripe directly to the strawberries.

Photo by Tim Hutton / Twitter

The gray color becomes more obvious if you consider each berry separately from the rest of the picture (for example, covering the background in the photo with your hands).

The red-looking gray strawberries have a slightly different explanation, but in both cases we are talking about color correction, which our mind resorts to, depending on the type of lighting.

what to do with them :: Autonews

Anyone who decides to challenge the fines, Nikitin advised to write an appeal to the website of the State Traffic Inspectorate with a corresponding requirement. “It is also worth sending by registered mail a statement about sending a copy of the decision on an administrative offense, which should have been sent within three days from the date of the decision,” advises Nikitin. – And along with it – a complaint against the decision on formal grounds. For example, that from open sources it became known about the issuance of a decision against the driver on the fact of an alleged violation of traffic rules and a committed offense. ”

In accordance with the Code of Administrative Offenses, a decision on a violation case, rendered on the basis of automatic fixation, must contain an image of this very violation (Article 28.6, part 7 of Article 29.10 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation), recalled the leading specialist of the GC “European Legal Service” Orest Matsala. Consequently, according to the lawyer, fines that come by mail in the form of orders must also contain a photograph of the offense.

“The photographs themselves can be requested from the traffic police department where the decree was issued, including in electronic form through the State Services portal (Article 25.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation). The violator has every right to get acquainted with all materials related to this violation, including photo and video recording, ”said the lawyer.

At the same time, he is sure that the mere fact of the absence of a photograph in the decision will not be an automatic basis for canceling the decision. The driver needs to file a complaint against such a ruling.

“You need to refer to the following: based on the provisions of Part 1 of Art. 1.6 of the Administrative Code, ensuring the legality of the application of measures of administrative coercion presupposes not only the existence of legal grounds for the application of administrative punishment, but also the observance of the procedure for bringing a person to administrative responsibility established by law.

In accordance with part 7 of article 29.10 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation “A copy of a decision in a case of an administrative offense with the attachment of materials obtained using special technical means working in an automatic mode that have the functions of photographing and filming, video recording, or photographing and filming means , video recordings, is made by translating an electronic document into a document on paper “, – the lawyer gave an example of an appeal.

In turn, Shkumatov recalled that the Code of Administrative Offenses established a 15-day deadline for issuing a fine from the moment the CAFAP received data on driver violations. This, in his opinion, is too long. “During this time, drivers lose all evidence of their innocence. It is necessary to shorten this period. For example, set a period of three days from the date of the offense. Then the drivers will have a chance to keep proof of their innocence. ”

90,000 Tongue is the mirror of the stomach, and not only

Pirogova Irina Yurievna

Deputy chief physician for organizational and methodological work, head of the center of gastroenterology and hepatology, gastroenterologist

Eyes are the mirror of a person’s soul, and language can be safely called a mirror of health. The color of the tongue, the shape and the presence of plaque on it can speak of a particular pathology. Many diseases do not make themselves felt for a long time, and a detailed picture of clinical symptoms suddenly appears. Many doctors warn that the body makes it known about the disease almost immediately, and the most important thing is to notice and learn to recognize the disease. The immediate aid in defining health is, of course, language.

Anatomy of a Tongue

The tongue is a muscular organ that is covered with mucous membranes. The organ performs many functions, participates in the formation of speech, determining the taste of food, mixes and helps the formation of a food lump, pushes it into the esophagus. Anatomically, the tongue is divided into two parts, the back of the tongue is called the root, and the front, which moves freely, is called the body. The upper surface, which looks like velvet, is called the dorsum of the tongue. The entire tongue is covered with papillae of 4 groups, which are responsible for determining taste.

What should a healthy tongue look like?

The tongue of a healthy person is pale pink in color with an even fold that runs along the tongue. The tongue is soft and does not cause any discomfort when moving. The papillae on the tongue are clearly visible and not flattened. Depending on the season, there may be a little white bloom on a healthy tongue, in summer the bloom is a little thicker, and the papillae of the mucous membrane are still visible through it. In winter, the plaque can take on a yellowish tint, and in the fall, the plaque becomes lighter and drier. In addition, the presence of a thin plaque on the tongue may indicate a minor pathology that develops locally in the oral cavity, for example gingivitis of the gums, oral candidiasis and even caries. The thickening of plaque, in which it is already difficult to distinguish the back of the tongue, is a signal for action, and may indicate some diseases, including even chronic ones.

What does the color of the tongue say?

Many diseases can be identified by the color of the tongue, and each of them has its own characteristic color. With infectious diseases, for example, measles or flu, the color of the tongue becomes burgundy, moreover, this color of the tongue indicates the presence of fever. A pale tongue speaks of malnutrition, blood pathology – anemia, or heart failure. The purple tongue signals not only diseases of the blood, but also indicates diseases of the respiratory system. A yellow or gray tongue occurs in smokers, jaundice, or indicates gastrointestinal problems. Black tongue, which scares parents so much, and by the way, not in vain, speaks of weakness of the liver and spleen, dysentery, serious viral infections and even abscesses. The blue color of the tongue speaks of kidney disease. A bluish tinge to the tongue occurs with poor blood circulation, scurvy, and heavy metal poisoning, especially mercury.A white tongue speaks directly of a fungal infection or dehydration of the body. Problems in the oral cavity can be judged by the presence of a dark brown tongue, which indicates bleeding in the oral cavity, and in particular with periodontitis and gingivitis.

Reasons for a raid in the language

The main reason, of course, is poor oral hygiene. It is necessary to take care not only of the teeth, but also of the tongue. For these reasons, special brushes have been released that are suitable for cleaning teeth (bristles) and for the tongue; the back of such a toothbrush has a ribbed surface. But not all children, due to their age, can use a toothbrush; for such purposes, toothbrushes are perfect – fingertips with a ribbed work surface.

But not only poor hygiene provokes the formation of plaque, various problems in the oral cavity of a dental nature can provoke the formation of plaque. At the first suspicions and the appearance of plaque in the tongue, it is necessary to first contact the dentist to exclude dental pathology. Disruption of the stomach or the entire gastrointestinal tract as a whole is also a provocateur in the formation of plaque. The accumulation of plaque on the tongue in children occurs for various reasons. The most common cause of tongue plaque in infants is oral candidiasis. In puberty children, plaque can form due to a hormonal jump, and inflammatory diseases of the oral mucosa, the so-called juvenile gingivitis.

What does the color of the plaque on the tongue say?

The color of the plaque can tell about a particular disease, about a particular problem with a particular organ and even a group of organs. But, for a complete understanding of the process, it is still necessary to take into account the location of the plaque, only adding these two components, we can say with almost 100% probability that this is precisely this pathology.

Plaque on the tongue in most cases differs from the color of the tongue. The thicker the plaque, the more serious the pathological process. Plaque is the first sign of a decrease in immunity, according to the thickness of the plaque in the tongue, it can be concluded that what kind of immunity is in question (general or local).

The presence of a thick white plaque speaks of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, it is such a plaque that indicates the presence of constipation. A thin plaque in the middle of the tongue indicates the presence of gastritis, and if the plaque is thick, then, most likely, complications of gastritis have begun or gastritis has taken on a chronic form. If the plaque is located at the root of the tongue, it can be used to judge intestinal inflammation. Chronic diseases of the intestines and stomach that are imperceptibly proceeding, for example, high acidity, are indicated by the presence of a gray plaque.A yellow and black coating of the tongue indicates a problem with the gallbladder, spleen and liver, if it does not go away within a week. If, nevertheless, the plaque was a temporary phenomenon, then this indicates a violation of the microbial balance of the oral cavity, and the cause of this phenomenon is diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.

But, white plaque and its shades may indicate a disease of other organs, if the plaque along the edges and in front of the tongue indicates a lung disease, a gradual darkening of the plaque indicates a complication of the disease – pneumonia.

The shape and size of the tongue – is it important?

Shape, size are just as important in diagnosis as the color of the tongue itself and the color of the plaque. It must be remembered that the tongue belongs to the organs of the gastrointestinal tract, and it is practically the beginning of digestion. If the tongue has become swollen and enlarged, then first of all, it is necessary to exclude diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and be examined by an endocrinologist. A thick or wide tongue indicates a lack of calcium and vitamin D, or metabolic disorders, diseases of the lymphatic system. In this condition, one can also talk about inflammation of the tongue itself, diseases of the pituitary gland. With a gradual decrease in size or sudden compression, one can suspect diseases of the central nervous system, general depletion of the body, including dehydration.

Language appearance

Due to the atrophy of the papillae of the tongue, it becomes smoothed, shiny and takes on a bright red color, such a tongue is called varnished. This picture can be seen with stomach cancer or chronic colitis. With a deficiency of vitamin B and nicotinic acid in the body, such a disease is called pellagra and belongs to the class of vitamin deficiencies, the tongue looks like a chessboard, covered with a black-brown bloom with cracks. With the development of the disease, the tongue changes its color and becomes red.

A tongue with deep grooves of various sizes and colors is called geographic. Such language can be observed with chronic damage to the stomach and intestines (when the parents are feeding the child incorrectly), with some forms of mental illness.By this language, you can immediately judge the presence of an allergic reaction. If the function of the cerebellum, cerebral circulation is impaired, the tongue may bend or deviate to the side. According to some reports, the curvature of the tongue may be associated with somatic disorders of the body. In case of dysfunction of the organs of the left or right half of the body, the corresponding side of the tongue slightly increases in size, and the tip changes position – it deviates. With pathology of the hypoglossal nerve or with paresis, the tongue can also change its position.

A clearly visible midline of the tongue is directly connected to the spine and may indicate a problem. A curved line at the root of the tongue indicates problems in the lumbar spine, if it is bent in the middle – the middle part of the back, and accordingly if the bend is at the tip of the tongue, then the problem lies in the cervical spine.

Cracks or pitting

Ulcers on the surface of the tongue can occur for various reasons. Before panicking, it is necessary to exclude a simple trauma to the tongue, for example, when biting, or in case of damage from dilapidated teeth. The latter option is very dangerous, since permanent trauma can cause glossitis, inflammation of the tongue.

With inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract (Crohn’s disease), small ulcers appear on the tongue, and a large number of them immediately form. The sores are painful and uncomfortable.

With syphilis, only one ulcer appears on the tongue, of a completely different size and shape. The surface is bright red, shiny and hard. The ulcer does not make itself felt, it is completely painless.A manifestation of HIV infection in the tongue can be the formation of warts. It looks like an overgrowth of the mucous membrane of the tongue on the sides of the tongue or closer to the root. Flat sores that are located on the tip of the tongue, lateral regions, or along the midline indicate tuberculous disease. Transverse stripes on the tongue indicate vascular disorders of the brain.

Unpleasant sensations in the tongue

The unpleasant sensations themselves are varied and can manifest themselves as pain, excessive dryness, burning sensation, etc.Dryness of the tongue and mouth is called xerostomia, and is a signal for testing for diabetes. Dryness can also be associated with impaired activity of the salivary glands, fever, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and dehydration. With prolonged xerostomia, the color of the plaque on the tongue becomes dark and cracks appear.

Pain in the tongue or glossalgia usually occurs with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, disorders of the endocrine system or neurological disorders.Pain with glossalgia is of a different nature, localized at the tip of the tongue and can change throughout the day. Spicy, hot and pickled foods can provoke pain.

When itching and burning of the tongue appears, the first step is to be examined by a dentist and check for the presence of fungal infections of the tongue (thrush). A burning sensation can also be a sign of anemia or increased acidity of gastric juice.

Signs of internal organs in the language

Each of the internal organs in the tongue has its own place. In Chinese medicine, the tongue is divided into three parts, the root of the tongue corresponds to the lower part of the body, the body of the tongue corresponds to the middle part of the body, and accordingly the tip of the upper body. But there is another opinion, in which each organ is given its place, and it is more accurate.

The front of the tongue is a mirror image of the liver, heart, and lungs; the middle shows the stomach, pancreas, and spleen. The parts of the intestine can be diagnosed by the root of the tongue, but the kidneys by the lateral parts of the tongue.Various changes in the ulcer, redness of the plaque in these projections, indicates a particular pathology of the corresponding organ. It is necessary to notice the signs of the disease in a timely manner and take timely measures.

Show your tongue – and I will tell you why you are sick!

Yes, worn-effect jeans are back in fashion in 2021 – you can get them from the bins of your closet. Just make sure that the grunge bows do not go beyond the bounds of decency. Leave the “torn” parts to a minimum, and they definitely should not open half of the legs for everyone to see.

Ripped jeans and holes attract the main attention in the images. Do not combine them with other very bright, non-standard clothes. Better stop at classic trench coats, knitted cardigans, blazers, shirts. Things of neutral colors – black, gray, dark blue, beige – are in good harmony with “torn” jeans.

The same rule applies to brightly decorated trousers as with “ripped” jeans: the more complex their design and cut, the more relaxed, other clothes and shoes should be simpler.Exception – you love shocking and maximum originality in images.

Wear richly decorated models with cotton modal shirts, plain T-shirts, tops. If women’s jeans of a simple cut are decorated with a small drawing, a neat inscription, you can choose a striped jacket for them, a blouse with a floral print. With sandals or shoes, such bows look feminine. T-shirts with a print, bombers, leather or denim jackets are suitable for sneakers, sneakers.

Jeans with a raw edge can look casual and tidy at the same time. Several threads released on models with a straight, slightly tapered or wide cut will not be superfluous even when creating strict images. They just make them easy and fun.

Ripped hem works best on cropped jeans.Pair them with knitted sweaters and flat shoes, such as oversized sweaters and loafers or sneakers. In the fall, they can be worn with ankle boots and a coat.

In the summer, create bright looks with jeans in trendy colors – green, pink, blue, yellow. They will stylishly “play” in bows with white T-shirts, T-shirts, viscose tops, sneakers or sandals.
