11 Best Phone Cases for 2021

When your life is busy and fast-paced, you rely on your phone to keep up — but even though you might bring your smartphone everywhere, it’s not always up for the adventure, which is why a durable phone case is an essential phone accessory. Without one, your glass screen is at risk of breaking or shattering each time you accidentally drop it. But still, they do more than protect your phone — protective cases can also act as a fashion statement, and some cases double as a wallet to keep your credit cards handy.

To find the best phone cases on the market, the Good Housekeeping Institute’s Media and Tech lab tested over 50 different phone cases and had over 100 consumer testers try them out for a few days. From there, we selected the top-rated phone cases (including ones from popular brands like Otterbox and ones with cool features like battery charging), plus a few best-sellers and editor favorites.

When shopping for a new phone case, be sure to keep in mind how often you drop your phone. Some phone cases are super tough with built-in screen protectors, while others are made primarily for a cute Instagram picture. If you have a newer iPhone and prefer wireless charging, then make sure that your case is compatible. (All of the phone cases below are wireless-charging compatible unless otherwise noted.) Some of the phone cases on our list also come with other useful features, including waterproof cases and and dual-layer screen protection.

These are the best phone cases to buy in 2019:

Best Overall Phone Case

Symmetry Series

The Otterbox Symmetry gives you the same level of protection you’ve come to expect from the Otterbox Defender Series, only this time without the added bulk. The ultra slim yet protective design is perfect for carrying your phone in your pocket. The Symmetry Series also has a wide range of color and style options including the Otter + Pop iPhone case, which comes with a swappable Pop Socket for easy gripping — meaning, there will be a smaller chance of dropping it on your face while in bed.

Available for:  iPhone 7/8, 7/8 Plus, X, XS, XS Max, and XR; Samsung Galaxy S8, S9, S10, S10+, Note 9, and other older models; Pixel 2XL, 3, 3XL, 3a, and 3aXL

Best Value Phone Case

The Incipio DualPro is the perfect combination: a slim fit and ultra protective. With its super-soft exterior and flexible buttons, it’s very comfortable to grip. And with a price just under $10, you can’t go wrong with this simple, sleek, and (most importantly) cheap phone case.

Available for: iPhone 7/8, 7/8 Plus, X, Xs, Xs Max, Xr, and other older models; Galaxy S8, S9, S10, S10+, Note 9, and other older models; Pixel 2XL, 3, 3XL, 3a, and 3aXL

Best Phone Case With Card Slots

Presidio Wallet

The Speck Presidio wallet is a hardback minimalist wallet designed to store up to three credit cards, though we found you can get away with storing four cards and some cash. While it won’t hold all of the contents of your wallet, this protective case lets you keep the necessities handy. It’s durable and also holds its shape once cards are removed — which is easy to do, thanks to the cut-out. Just note that this phone case is not compatible for wireless charging.

Available for: iPhone 6/6s/7/8, 6/6s/7/8 Plus, X, Xs, Xs Max, and Xr; Galaxy S8, and S8+

Best Clear Phone Case

Piccadilly Clear Case

The Piccadilly from Gear 4 is a simple, no-frills phone case. With a slim fit design and clear back, this case will do a great job of showing off your device. It’s flexible and light, but still offers drop protection thanks to a raised edge and side grips.

Available for: iPhone 6/6s/7/8, 6/6s/7/8 Plus, X, Xs, Xs Max, and Xr; Galaxy S10, S10+, and S10e

Best Wireless Charging Phone Case

Juice Pack

This surprisingly thin phone case comes with a built-in backup battery with over 30 hours of battery life. The Mophie Juice Pack Access case wirelessly charges your device leaving the lightning port open for wired headphones. There is also an on/off button so you can charge your device as needed.

Available for: iPhone 7/8, 7/8 Plus, X/Xs, Xs Max, and XR; Galaxy S8/+, S9/+, S10/+/e, Note 8, and Note 9

Best Patterned Phone Case With Wallet

Wallet Slayer Vol. 2

Unlike the Speck Presidio, the Silk Wallet Slayer Vol. 2 is a flexible softback wallet case. It’s designed to hold three cards, but you might be able to squeeze in a fourth depending on the thickness. But if you only want to carry a single card, don’t worry: There’s a protective lip to prevent it from falling out. The textured sides make it easy to grip, but it’s also a protective case, so it will survive any drop test you throw at it. Just note that it’s not compatible with wireless charging.

Available for: iPhone 5/5s/SE, 6/6s/7/8, X/Xs, Xs Max, and Xr; Galaxy S8, S8+, S9, and S9+

Best Wallet Phone Case

Rugged Tri-Folio

With the vertical card pockets in the Nomad tri-folio wallet case, you never have to worry about losing or spilling your credit cards. The wallet also has three panels, meaning more room for cards and cash compared to other folio style cases on the market. The brand also uses 100% vegan leather that will develop a patina over time.

Available for: iPhone X, Xs, Xs Max, and Xr

Best Leather Phone Case

Leather Case

This Apple leather case is sleek, slim, and soft, so it’s comfortable in your hand without being slippery. It has European leather backing and the interior is microfiber-lined, so your phone is protected from any unwanted scratches. Apple also makes a leather Folio option for card-and-cash carrying ease. The magnetic cover also means your phone will go to sleep automatically when closed.

Available for: iPhone 7/8, 7/8 Plus, X, Xs, Xs Max, and Xr

Best Phone Case for Car Mounting

amazon. com

This might look like your average phone case, but when you purchase it with the  SnapTo, this Moshi case can be mounted on most flat surfaces. There’s also a car mount available to attach it to the dashboard, all using magnetic technology. This cell phone case is lightweight and easy to hold, but still offers protection to your phone.

Available for: iPhone 7/8, 7/8 Plus, X, Xs, Xs Max, and Xr

Best Waterproof Phone Case

FRĒ Series Waterproof Case

If you’re worried about dropping your phone in the pool, this FRĒ by Lifeproof case is what you need. It protects your phone from water, snow, dirt, and even the floor in case you drop it. In our lab tests, we found it can be completely submerged under about 6.5 feet of water continuously for an hour without a problem. In fact, you can still use your fingerprint sensor to unlock your phone underwater. It’s super easy to put on and use, so you can quickly swap it for your regular case if you’re heading to the beach or pool! Just note that it’s not compatible with wireless charging.

Available for: iPhone 5/5s/SE, 6/6s/7/8, 7/8 Plus, X/Xs, Xs Max, and Xr; Galaxy S6, S7, S8, S8+, S9, S9+, S10, and S10+; Google Pixel 2

Best 3D Phone Case

Double Rainbow Silicone Case

The Double Rainbow Silicone case is fun and bold — the perfect phone case for anyone who’s a kid at heart. While it doesn’t offer much protection for your phone’s screen, the extra bulk makes it easy to hold and the bright color makes it easy to find, even in the messiest rooms. Plus, the silicone material is easy to clean in case of a spill. Just note that it’s not compatible with wireless charging.

iPhones, Samsungs and other mobile devices

While the normal streetscape of masses staring down at their phones is less common these days, your smartphone is likely still one of your most used products on any given day. For one thing, it can be used for contact tracing, a typically smartphone app-driven effort during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic that’s gotten the attention of tech giants like Google and Apple. And in using your smartphone, you may want to protect it — after all, you paid (or are paying through installments) good money for that phone, so you should treat it like the precious cargo that it is. Best protective phone case: Otterbox

Otterbox Symmetry

When it comes to basic protection, there are more cases out there than we can count, but Otterbox has become somewhat synonymous with tough phone cases. Their flagship Defender series is probably overkill for most, but their Symmetry series hits a perfect sweet spot: It’ll protect your phone from most drops and ding, without being too overly bulky in your pocket. Best of all, it comes in a myriad of colors and patterns, allowing you to express your personality at the same time.

Best water-resistant phone case: Lifeproof

2. Lifeproof FRE

If you spend a lot of time at the pool, beach or hunched over a bathtub with splashing kids, Lifeproof has you covered with their FRE line of cases. Available for a number of phones, the Lifeproof FRE seals your phone in a shell with a built-in screen protector so it won’t get wet. Even if your phone claims to be highly water-resistant, I wouldn’t trust it near water without some extra protection.

Best super thin and compact phone case: totallee

totallee Thin Case

If you hate the bulk of a case but want to protect your phone from scratches, totalee’s Thin case might be the perfect option for you. It’s so thin, it barely feels like there’s anything there — which is perfect for case-haters. Just don’t expect it to save you from a hard drop on pavement.

Best flexible phone case: Spigen

4. Spigen Liquid Air

If you want something slim but need a bit of extra protection, the Spigen Liquid Air strikes an incredible perfect balance between a sleek frame and flexible, shock-absorbing protection, with a comfortable shape and a textured back that feels perfect in your hands.

Best phone case with a built-in battery: mophie

5. mophie Juice Pack

If your phone’s battery can’t quite get you through a long day of Facebooking and gaming, a battery pack can help eke out a few more hours — or you could attach that extra battery right to your phone with the Mophie Juice Pack. When your phone’s battery gets low, you can turn the case on and charge your phone right back up from your pocket. The new Juice Pack Access allows you to use wired headphones and other peripherals while charging your phone wirelessly, while the slightly bulkier Juice Pack Air plugs into your phone with an integrated Lightning or USB connector.

Best wallet phone case: Nomad

6. Nomad Rugged Folio

Why carry your phone in one pocket and your wallet in another when you could save some space and smush them together? The Nomad Rugged Folio has a classy leather look that will age over time and a folio-style cover that flips open to reveal your credit cards and cash. There’s also a tri-fold version if you need more space — if Nomad doesn’t make a version for your phone, the Otterbox Strada is another favorite of mine.

Best fashionable and functional phone case:

7. Shop Sonix Crossbody Case

If you’re wearing pants or a dress with no pockets, consider this chic and functional phone case from Sonix to store your mobile device. It’s made from vegan leather and features three card slots and a cash slot. The envelope style crossbody case has a gold-tone chain-link strap, making it the perfect accessory to sport during your socially distant picnics or rooftop day drinking sessions. There’s also a snap closure for quick and easy access to your phone, like capturing a sunset or ice cream. It’s available in two colors: Saturday Night Blush, a dainty pink and Cow Print, a black and white option.

Best phone case for dog-lovers:

8. Casetify Swimming Frenchie iPhone 11

If you, your mother or work wife love dogs, you all will likely be into this phone case from Casetify. Besides featuring an adorable French bulldog, the phone case is practical and is available in varying protection levels for your phone — Basic Grip Case to Ultra Impact Case — if you are prone to dropping your cell phone. Need some variety? You can also change the case’s color with options like Pink, Midnight Green, Yellow, Teal, and more.

Best 90s-inspired phone case:

9. Pastel Geometric Memphis Pattern

Grab your Casio sports watch and embrace ’90s nostalgia with a new phone case in a pastel color palette and geometric design, which reminds us of the opening credits of “Saved By The Bell. ” Beyond offering 13 colors to choose from — Red, Hot Pink, Teal and others — the protective case has options made for various models of the Samsung Galaxy and 10 editions of the iPhone. If you’ve experienced a cracked smartphone screen, then consider upgrading to an Ultra Impact version of this case.

Best eco-friendly phone case:

10. Honey Bee Google Pixel 3 Case

If you’re in the market for a new phone case and consider yourself environmentally conscious, consider the Pela Case. On top of the protection it provides your phone, it is made from Flax shive and a plant-based biopolymer, making it 100 percent compostable, according to the brand. That’s not the only way you’ll be helping the Earth when you purchase one of these cases. Pela also donates at least one percent of every sale to ocean cleanup and preservation initiatives. Besides Google Pixel, this case has options that fit a variety of Samsung Galaxy devices and Apple iPhones.

Plus, if the strap is securely over your shoulder, dropping it will be fairly tricky! Nevertheless, it is much more of a fashion statement than a practical iPhone case, but would be perfect for a stylish night out on the town.

Chain Leather Phone Case Bag

Should you buy a wallet case or a shell case?

When it comes to choosing a style of case for your iPhone, there are plenty of different options. Shell cases and wallet cases tend to be the most popular.

The shell case simply fits tight around the phone and can come with a front protector as well. You can buy a separate screen protector for the front. There are a variety of options for shell cases; some that will protect your iPhone from anything, whereas others are purely there to look good and offer virtually no protection.

The wallet case, on the other hand, still clips on at the back but flips open at the front. It protects the screen and gives you extra storage options for credit cards or cash. However, it is thicker than the shell case and can be somewhat less practical.

Which one you opt for mainly depends on your own personal style and needs. If you’re the sort of person who could use the extra storage space and likes a stylish iPhone case, then the wallet case will be right up your street. On the other hand, if you’d rather go for a slimmer fit or perhaps rugged protection is your main concern, then opt for a shell case instead.

The top 6 best iPhone case brands

When it comes to selecting a brand for your iPhone case there’s plenty of competition, but ultimately you want to be able to trust who you’re buying from. Whether that’s from a track record of creating quality products or recent reviews from repeat customers, here are the best iPhone case brands on the market.

There’s no denying that the creator of iPhones is also the creator of great iPhone cases! Apple’s official range fits nicely with the slim design of the phones themselves, whilst offering practicality, protection and style to their users.

SUPCASE produces iPhone covers with military shock specification standard (MIL-STD-810G 516.6). Their cases are specially designed to survive harsh environments and unpredictable conditions. The brand is dedicated to giving you peace of mind knowing you can keep all your trusted devices safe without breaking the bank.⁣

Otterbox really knows its stuff and are the gold standard when it comes to a protective iPhone case. With a great selection of cases from the Symmetry to the Commuter range, you can rest assured that you won’t be getting any pricey screen repair bills if you purchase these cases.

One of our personal favourites, you can’t go wrong with Spigen for either value or style. Offering all types of cases from ultra-slim to their tough, protective case, Spigen is the perfect all-rounder iPhone case brand.

It’s hard to find a fashionable or good-looking iPhone case that’s half as protective as the Casetify range. So, if you’re put off by bulky or boring designs, and want something sturdy, customisable and unique, these cases are for you.

The Case Factory

If sticking to a brand is important to you, then you’ll be happy to hear that you can easily match your outfit to your iPhone case! Your iPhone should look as good as you do, so dress it in your favourite fashion brands and designer labels with a case from The Case Factory.

Our methodology to select and rank the best iPhone cases of the year

People make purchase decisions based on a lot of individual reasons. Everyone likes something different in an iPhone case, just as everyone likes something different in a pair of designer sneakers or a new luxury SUVs.

So, choosing which of the vast selection of iPhone cases would make this list wasn’t a simple task! We researched hundreds of phone cases on the market, looked at user reviews, drop rates and statistics. Overall, there were a few main factors which contributed to our decision.

Firstly, we looked at the main reasons that people buy an iPhone case. iPhone’s aren’t cheap and the last thing you’d want to do is break it. Therefore protection was at the forefront of our decision and the cases above were chosen with that in mind over appearance.

Next, we considered the appearance. Plenty of people choose to buy iPhones for their sleek and stylish design. As much as people need to protect their phones, covering them up to the point where they look bulky and unattractive, defeats the point of buying an iPhone! Therefore, whilst some of the designs on our list are a little chunky, none will ruin the look of your phone.

Our third deciding factor was practicality. An iPhone case should support the iPhone’s features. Therefore, these cases were only chosen if they make the user’s life easier. Cases that don’t work with wireless charging, don’t protect the iPhone’s camera or don’t do a good enough job of protecting the screen, weren’t included.

Frequently asked questions about iPhone cases

What is the most protective iPhone case?

Spigen is the most protective iPhone case today. Their Liquid Air Armor model is a sturdy all-in-one case that will protect your phone from the elements, such as dust and dirt.

Is Lifeproof better than Otterbox?

LifeProof is actually now owned by Otterbox, so they are, in effect, the same company. However, their approach to phone cases is slightly different. LifeProof focuses on waterproof designs, whereas Otterbox is all about overall protection. Therefore, if you’re looking for a strong, break-proof case, go for the Otterbox Commuter or Defender series. If you’d rather the added water resistance, go with LifeProof Fre, but be prepared to pay a little more for it!

Do wallet cases protect phones?

Yes, wallet cases do a great job of protecting the front and back of iPhones, but some do a poor job of protecting the sides and corners. Be sure to check that the case offers protection to these areas before you buy.

What is the best iPhone 8 cover?

Spigen Slim Armour is the best iPhone 8 cover at the moment. The case offers the best protection and practicality, whilst keeping the slim design.

What is the most durable iPhone?

Apple claims that their latest models are the most durable iPhones yet and they weren’t wrong! However, when put through varying degrees of drop, shatter, bend and tumble tests, the iPhone 12 Pro came out much better than both the 12 and 12 Pro Max. The 12 Pro Max actually came out the worse so, considering it has the highest price tag, you might be better off with the other two models!

What are the strongest iPhone cases?

The strongest iPhone cases are the Spigen and Otterbox cases. Known for their rugged exteriors, they will provide you with the ultimate peace of mind that your phone won’t get damaged by the elements.

The best phone case brands

01What kind of case should I get?02Expert’s take03User’s take04Recommended case brands05Best case lists06F.A.Q.

Most smartphones nowadays feature metal or glass builds, and so, keeping them safe and free from damage can be quite difficult. A good case or cover goes a long way, even if you don’t want to hide the phone’s beautiful design. However, some cases can add some style points to it as well. From the ultra-slim to the extremely rugged, there’s a type of cover for everybody.

If you’re looking to buy a case, you might be curious to what kinds of cases are out there or what phone case brands you should trust. In this case buyer’s guide we do our best to answer these questions, as well as highlight some of the best smartphone case manufacturers around!

What kind of case do I need?

Phone cases can be broadly divided into four different categories — thin, hybrid, wallet, and rugged. These categories are mostly self-explanatory, but let’s take a quick look at what they entail.

  • Thin cases: These cases are usually ultra-thin and barely add any bulk to the phone. They are generally single-layer covers made with either TPU or polycarbonate. You’ll find a lot of good-looking thin cases out there, and everyone wants as minimal a case as possible for their phones.
  • Hybrid cases: Hybrid cases are a great middle between ultra-thin and rugged cases. A lot of these cases are really thin and light as well, but offer a lot more protection than thin cases. Hybrid cases include anything that uses a combination of materials, like a polycarbonate back and a TPU bumper, like the Ringke Fusion-X, or a relatively thin dual-layer case.
  • Rugged cases: Rugged cases are big and bulky but will ensure that your phone can survive almost anything. Extremely heavy-duty cases are usually for those that work in harsh environments or are particularly clumsy.
  • Wallet cases: Wallet cases let you keep cards, ID, and some cash while keeping your phone protected. The folio cover also helps keep the display safe without needing a screen protector.

The best bet for most smartphone owners would be a hybrid case. There are a lot of excellent options out there, and they offer a lot of protection despite being quite thin and light. Cases like the UAG Plasma and Ringke Fusion-X come with the same MIL-STD 810G-516.6 certification for impact resistance as rugged cases, and do so without making the phone heavy.

Ultra-rugged cases are a niche category, but users will appreciate the fact that the phone will survive almost anything. If you work in harsh environments or are particularly clumsy, these cases will certainly offer some peace of mind.

Ultimately picking the right case comes down to knowing what kind of protection and features you need.

A wallet case is great for anyone that wants the convenience of it. Not only do you get to carry cash and cards, but the folio cover often doubles as a kickstand. Genuine leather wallet cases are a touch expensive, but look fantastic as well.

Thin cases are minimalistic and what most people would prefer. However, they offer varying degrees of protection. Some of these options aren’t the most protective, might leave buttons and the screen exposed, and aren’t for anyone who isn’t careful. There are exceptions of course, like the Spigen Rugged Armor or Liquid Air, which are both excellent cases.

Our recommendation: Spigen for the win

At Android Authority we highly recommend Spigen cases. Why? They tend to be a perfect blend of affordability and reliability. There are rarely issues with Spigen cases when it comes to fit and they tend to be very good at protecting our phones. The brand also makes a variety of cases in pretty much every style and type you could dream of.

Of course, Spigen isn’t the only worthwhile brand out there. Any of the other brands on this list are also definitely worthy of your consideration. What about brands not on this list? Honestly, it’s about doing your homework. There are tons of brands out there and really any case can be worth the investment.

Before you buy a case from a brand you’re not familiar with, just be sure to check for the following:

  • Look through owner-submitted reviews on sites like Amazon. What are people saying? Do these short reviews look legit? For example, it’s possible they are paid or sponsored submissions if they are super vague and poorly written.
  • Look for oddities like if the product reviews aren’t actually for the product! This surprisingly happens a lot with 3rd party cases from obscure brands.

Reader recommendation: Everybody loves Spigen!

It’s not just Team AA that recommends Spigen. In a poll from January 2020, the vast majority of Android Authority readers (38.1%) voted for Spigen. That’s not a huge surprise to us. As mentioned, Spigen makes some of the best cases around. The smartphone selection is quite diverse, and most of their cases are quite affordable.

A distant second with 12.2% of the votes goes to the “I have no allegiance to one particular brand” crowd. Third place with 8.6% of the votes goes to first-party cases, like ones from Samsung, Google, or other smartphone OEMs. Otterbox is another popular one amongst our readers, garnering 5.6% of the votes. Finally, the “I just choose whatever’s cheapest” crowd made up 6.2% of the votes this time around.

Now for a look at our six favorite case manufacturers

You should now know what brands are most popular and what kind of case types are out there. Now it is time to pick the right case! Below we take a closer look at our six favorite case brands, as well as give you advice about some of the specific types of cases each brand produces.

Editor’s note: We’ll be updating this list of the best manufacturers of smartphone cases regularly.

1. Spigen

Spigen is one of the most popular case makers out there as we’ve already made quite clear, and with good reason. It has a wide variety of cases in its portfolio, from the ultra-thin hard shell to the rugged dual-layer cover. It also does a pretty great job as far as phone selection is concerned. You will definitely get a Spigen case if you have a flagship phone, even going back a few years.

That said, the company also offers at least one case for a number of mid-rangers and even some entry-level devices. Spigen cases are also relatively cheap, with the price of the different types of cases usually between $8 and $20.

The best Spigen case: Rugged Armor

The Spigen Rugged Armor is a personal favorite and one of the best cases the company has to offer. It’s thin and light, and utilizes air cushion technology and a spider web pattern on the inside to help with shock absorption. Adding to its protective capabilities are covered buttons and a raised lip around the display.

It’s also a good-looking case, with carbon fiber elements on the back adding a touch of style. If you’re looking for a decently protective case that doesn’t make the phone too heavy, the Rugged Armor is a great way to go. The Spigen Rugged Armor is available for most current-generation flagships.

Get the Spigen Rugged Armor for:

Other Spigen cases

Regardless of the type of case you are looking for, Spigen has something for you. Its ultra-thin options, like the Thin Fit and Air Armor, are great. The Liquid Crystal and Ultra Hybrid are transparent cases that let you show off the phone’s design, and the Spigen Neo Hybrid is a stylish alternative to the Rugged Armor.

The case maker also has an excellent rugged option in the form of the Tough Armor, a dual-layer case with a built-in kickstand. And that is just to name a few. You’ll find cases like the Liquid Crystal, Rugged Armor, and Tough Armor for most phones. Popular devices have even more options though, with a couple of wallet cases added to the mix.

2. Otterbox

The go-to case brand to keep your phone completely safe is undoubtedly Otterbox. It has a few different types of cases available, but the common theme across the board is heavy-duty protection. These cases are big, bulky, and might not be the most visually appealing, but they’ll certainly keep your phone protected during accidental bumps and drops.

Otterbox cases are on the more expensive side, with prices ranging from around $30 to $70. But it might be worth getting an expensive case to make sure that the far more expensive smartphone stays undamaged for as long as possible.

Otterbox cases are available globally, but its smartphone selection is limited to US releases. That said, if a phone is available in the US, from the entry-level to the flagship, you’ll probably find an Otterbox case for it.

The best Otterbox case: Defender series

The Otterbox Defender series is one of the more protective options available from the rugged case maker. The case is thick and heavy, but the multi-layered protection is great. All buttons and ports are also covered, so it keeps the phone safe from environmental ingress as well.

A version of the Defender case also comes with a front plate with a built-in screen protector, but that is mostly available with older phones. A “screenless” edition comes with a raised lip to keep the display safe, but allows easy access to under-display fingerprint scanners. Both versions of the case come with a holster with a belt clip, that also doubles as a kickstand.

Get the Otterbox Defender for:

Other Otterbox cases

The Defender might bring more to the table in terms of protection, but the Symmetry and Commuter cases might be the better option for most people. These are sleeker and lighter, but don’t compromise on safety in any way. These cases are also available for a wider range of smartphones when compared to the Defender series.

The company also has a cheaper Commuter Lite case that is intended for entry-level and mid-range phones. At the other end of the price spectrum is the Defender Pro series, which earns the Pro moniker by adding an anti-bacterial layer to its protective features.

3. Speck

Cases by Speck are also great options if you’re looking to keep your phone in great condition. Speck has a few case variants on offer, but the basic principle stays largely the same. They lean towards the slim and light side of things, but that doesn’t mean that they are any less protective than other options on this list.

You’ll find Speck cases for most major flagship smartphones, but while there are some random surprises, the company doesn’t really dive into mid-range or entry-level territory. Speck cases are also a little expensive, with a price point between $25 and $40 for most of their products.

The best Speck case: Presidio Grip / Presidio2 Grip

The company’s most commonly available case is the Presidio Grip and is also the most easily recognizable. The thin case earns its name courtesy of raised ridges on the back that are great for grip. Extra corner protection and dual layers ensure that the phone will be fine after a drop. All recent versions of the case, called the Presidio Grip2,  come with Microban’s anti-microbial technology that keeps 99% of bacteria away.

Get the Speck Presidio Grip / Presidio2 Grip for:

Other Speck cases

Speck also has excellent clear cases on offer if you want to show off the phone’s look with the Presidio Grip Clear and Presidio Stay Clear. The Presidio Pro is another great option with its slim profile still allowing for dual-layer protection, and should be able to handle a drop from up to 10 feet. All recent versions of these cases also come with Microban’s anti-microbial technology.

These variants are generally only available with the more popular flagships though, while the Presidio Grip seems to be universal. For more recent mid-range releases though, the Speck Exotech is the case to get. Speck also offers cases for a few mid-rangers in the form of the Presidio Lite, but these aren’t always as good as their more expensive counterparts.

4. Urban Armor Gear

UAG (Urban Armor Gear) cases are also extremely popular among smartphone users, but that’s not surprising at all. All its cases are quite rugged and meet the MIL-STD 810G 516.6 standard for drop protection and impact resistance. Complete protection is the name of the game here across all its cases. But some of its popular options are also surprisingly lightweight and thin enough to allow wireless charging and NFC payments.

UAG’s phone selection is quite diverse, and you have nothing to worry about if you a recent flagship. The case maker, surprisingly, has options available for almost every Samsung smartphone released in the US, going all the way from the Galaxy S20 Ultra to the Galaxy A11. However, it’s luck of the draw if you’re hoping to find one for other mid-range and entry-level devices.

UAG cases are also on the more expensive side, with a price range of $25 to $60. The perfect blend of rugged features and sleek designs is well worth the price though.

The best UAG case: Plasma

The UAG Plasma is a feather-light case but doesn’t compromise on protection in any way. The corners are reinforced and you get covered buttons, all without making the phone bulky. It also has a distinctive look, so there’s no mistaking this for anything other than a UAG cover.

Other UAG cases

The UAG Plasma is the most widely available option, but if you’re looking for more rugged protection, the Monarch is a great choice. It comes with multi-layer protection and is made with premium materials to ensure that your phone is safe. The case will still let you wirelessly charge the phone and make mobile payments though.

Samsung and Apple flagships come with a wider variety of case types, with the likes of the Pathfinder, Civilian, and Plyo available for these phones. When it comes to mid-range and entry-level smartphones, the UAG Scout is the case you’re looking for. The company also recently launched the Outback series with cases that are completely biodegradable and compostable.

5. Ringke

Ringke may not have a variety of case types to choose from, but it remains a very popular choice for a lot of users. The cases are great, of course, but one of the reasons for the company’s popularity is because of the large number of devices it supports.

Apart from the popular flagships, you’ll find Ringke cases for most mid-range and entry-level devices, and phones from the likes of Xiaomi, Poco, and OEMs that other case makers don’t cover. Ringke cases are available for a bunch of old phones as well.

If you’re looking for a case for a phone going as far back as 2016, don’t be surprised if you find a Ringke option. It certainly helps that these cases are quite cheap too, with most of them hovering at around the $10 mark.

The best Ringke case: Fusion-X

Ringke’s most popular case, the Fusion-X, is also the most recognizable. Its slim polycarbonate back is combined with a thick TPU bumper that is not only unique-looking, but offers excellent protection for the phone. The company has both slimmer and more rugged options available, but the Fusion-X is the usual go-to when it comes to Ringke cases.

Get the Ringke Fusion X for:

Other Ringke cases

Ringke doesn’t have too many other case types on hand, with the Ringke Slim and Fusion rounding out the list. The Fusion is essentially a slimmed-down version of the Fusion-X without the distinctive TPU bumper, while the Slim is an ultra-thin and lightweight case that may not be suited for the clumsy. The Ringke Fusion and Slim are the cases you’ll get for phones that are more than a couple of years old.

6. Poetic

Poetic is another well-known phone case maker that offers a few types of cases, with rugged protection on offer with its popular options. There is some similarity between Poetic’s cases and some of the others on this list, so they don’t have too many standout features or capabilities.

That doesn’t take away from the fact that they definitely get the job done and will keep your phone safe. And at a cheaper price point too. Most poetic cases are under $20 and some options are available for under $10. Poetic’s smartphone compatibility is pretty good too. Apart from the flagships, you’ll find Poetic cases for a bunch of mid-rangers and older devices as well.

The best Poetic case: Revolution

The Poetic Revolution case is a highly rugged product for protecting your smartphone. The case has MIL-STD 810G-516.6 certifications for protection against falls and spills. The two-layer case includes one for the front display, with raised lips and corners for additional protection. Some, but not all, Revolution cases come with their own screen protector for the front case.

The rear, on the other hand, is made of a combined PC and TPU material for extra shock absorption. Finally, the Revolution has its own built-in kickstand for viewing of media hands-free. The cases often come in a variety of color choices.

Get the Poetic Revolution for:

Other Poetic cases

For complete all-around protection, one of the best is the Revolution series. Along the same lines are the Poetic Guardian and Spartan cases, without the benefit of a belt clip holster. The Revolution, Guardian, and Affinity are available for most smartphones, even though the Affinity seems to be falling by the wayside. The Karbon Shield isn’t as widely found, but is another excellent thin, light, and stylish option to consider.

Phone specific case recommendations

Looking to get a case for a specific device? Below is a link to just some of our device-specific case recommendations:

Of course, we have literally hundreds of device-specific case lists, though the above are some of the most popular ones. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, be sure to hit Google.

Frequently asked questions

Below are some of the questions we get asked most frequently by folks looking to buy a new case, or simply learning how to best maintain their existing cases. Have a question not listed? Let us know in the comments and we’ll be sure to add it to the list.

Q: Do I need a waterproof case?
A: Honestly, it depends on your use case. Many of today’s phones already have basic waterproofing. That said, these devices have limits to how much water exposure they can go through before the seals start to weaken. If you want the best waterproof protection, we highly recommend getting a waterproof pouch case.

Q: What does MIL-STD 810G-516.6 mean?
A: Essentially this means the case meets military standards for drop tests, based on publicly available MIL-STD-810G documentation. For more details on the standard and what it all means, you’ll want to check out our guide.

Q: How do I clean and disinfect a phone case?
A: There are a variety of ways to disinfect and clean a phone, including using special wipes or a microfiber cloth. For more specifics, check out our guide to properly cleaning your phone.

Q: How do I clean a clear phone case that is turning yellow?
A: Over time, clear cases sometimes get a bit of a yellow tint to them. Thankfully, cleaning them isn’t hard. You’ll want to use a mixture of warm water and a drop or two of dish soap. From there you’ll use a toothbrush to scrub the solution over the case. Be sure to let it air dry for a few hours before putting it back on. Keep in mind if the case is very worn, the process might not make much of a difference.

Q: How do you get sticky residue off a phone case?
A: If you’re the kind that likes to decorate your case with stickers, you might find that removing them leaves a sticky residue behind. Thankfully the residue can easily be removed by dipping a cotton ball in nail polish remover. Just be sure to take some lightly soapy water afterward and rinse off any traces of the polish so it doesn’t damage the case.

How to Pick the Perfect Phone Case

Few people have greater insight into the follies and foibles of humans than smartphone repair technicians. Sure, Shakespeare is the master when it comes to cutting observations on human nature, but the people who repair our phones see us at our most vulnerable—mangled hardware in palms, usually with some embarrassing and revelatory mistake to confess.

Laxmi Agrawal of Cupertino iPhone Repair and Sam Shoman of SF Smart Wireless have seen it all. A client who dropped his phone in the snow and found it two months later in a puddle of snowmelt. A client whose phone was run over by a truck and brought it in with tire chain marks crushed onto the screen.

Their experience shows that even if you’ve vowed to be careful, the world is filled with potential tech treachery, so it’s best to act preemptively and wrap your phone in a protective case. We talked to these two experts who have witnessed the most harrowing smartphone horror stories, and they offered some advice you can use to avoid witnessing your own.

Protect Your Phone From Impact

The most common problem that Agrawal says brings customers to repair shops is shattered glass screens. Screens are particularly vulnerable to shattering if the point of impact is at a corner of the phone, where force exerted on the glass is more concentrated.

For a baseline level of protection, choose a case made of a shock-absorbent material (like silicone or rubber) that covers your phone’s vulnerable corners. Shoman advises smartphone owners against plastic cases, which do not effectively absorb shock and are likelier to translate the impact onto the device itself.

Beyond that, what you buy depends on how and where you use your phone. A slim case may be all you need if you’re confident you’ll only subject your phone to everyday bumps and minor drops. Try a translucent slim case like Peel’s cases for iPhones, Google Pixel handsets, and Samsung Galaxy devices to show off your phone’s design.

Cases with thick, bulky shells add more weight and absorb greater shock. Agrawal recommends these cases for younger phone users.

“Teenagers are very much prone to break their phones,” she says, noting stories of younger customers dropping or stepping on their phones. For teens (or let’s face it, grown adults) who prefer heavy-duty protection, Agrawal recommends OtterBox brand cases. OtterBox offers cases for iPhone and a wide variety of Android phones. The hallmark of the OtterBox brand is the “Defender” series cases, which undergo a rigorous series of tests for durability. The Defender Series Case for the iPhone 8/7, for example, is a full-coverage case that offers a durable polycarbonate shell, flaps that shield charging ports, touchscreen protection, and a holster. (Yes, a holster.) The case weighs in at 4.6 ounces, and it gives your phone the hardy air of a miniature Transformer.

Consider Your Needs

In Agrawal’s experience, water damage is less common than screen damage, though she notes that aquatic accidents tend to co-occur with long weekends and summers, when swimmers mistakenly take their phones along for a dip. If you can’t resist the call of the sea, Pelican’s Marine cases for iPhone and Android offer waterproof, drop-tested cases that withstand surprise dunks.

If you’re constantly stretching the limits of your phone’s battery, Mophie offers cases that double as chargers. Folio or wallet cases, like this one by Kate Spade for iPhone, can tote your phone along with other necessities, like your ID and that frozen yogurt stamp card you always seem to forget to bring to the frozen yogurt place. As a plus, Shoman notes that these can provide a surprisingly good level of protection too, as many offer full coverage around the edges and a metal clasp that keeps the phone in place.

Our favourite biodegradable phone case in the UK, by Wave –

(Currently on my phone)

Best compostable phone case, by Reboxed

This phone case is on my wife’s phone since a month. Unlike some other compostable phone cases, the reboxed case is relatively hard, which I personally like as some cases like Pela tend to lose their form.

The phone felt twice since we got the case (thanks to our little daughter). Both phones and case still look like new.

Reboxed advertises that the case is plant based, 100% made from biodegradable materials, but there is not much more info about the hows and whats.

The Magsafe charging worked fine, although we are still planning to do some speed test (with VS witout case).

Something we appreciate very much is the colour of the case. There is no compromise due to the fact that it’s “made of plants”, the violet is strong and looks awesome.

We do love the company behind it. They don’t work only on phone cases. Reboxed focuses on refurbishing phones. We tend to forget it, but the phone itself can damage the planet much more than the phone case. It’s great to protect your phone, but even better to “not get a new phone”. You want to learn more about e-waste recycling? Check our guide.

Key specifications:

Sustainability Good

First and most known compostable phone case, by Pela

Do the most famous eco phone cases around still need an introduction? The “first compostable phone case in the world” is made of Flaxstic®, a blend of compostable bioplastic elastomer and flax straw materials. Pela cases are 100% compostable and are delivered in plastic-free packaging. Check our product page of their biodegradable phone case to know more about them.

We loved that it was easy to find their eco-friendly cases available for our specific phone models and they do some pretty amazing collaborations for the design of their cases (check out the artist series).

The feel is quite nice, the grip is enough on the sides, a bit slippery on the back. The Magsafe charging of our test iPhone worked fine, even with a credit card in the phone case.

You’ll see in the picture above that the model we tested had some “bump” on the side. A detail for most, but annoying to me.

Key specifications:

Main materials Bioplastic and flax straw

Toxic-free ✔️
Biodegradable ✔️ (compostable)

Available for:
iPhone 5 to 12 Pro Max

  • Designs you’ll love showing off on Instagram

Bad Stuff

  • Bioplastic requires processing, which wastes more energy than raw materials like cork and bamboo
  • Eye-wateringly expensive!

The flashiest eco iPhone case, by Tech31

Tech31 offers you cases that are not only eco-friendly but that also stand out from their competition. One look at their product page and you’ll feel like in an art gallery, thanks to very aesthetic designs and flashy colours, made by independent graphic designers. We can confirm that they’re as vibrant and gorgeous in real life! The cases are 100% biodegradable, so you can have a clear conscience when you buy one. As for the drop test, they should withstand falls up to 3 metres high. We even tried it at home!

After a little digging, we found that the biodegradable material is partially made from cork and wood, but Tech31 don’t state what it actually is. We suspect a bioplastic formula, but we cannot be certain.

If you like things usually out of the ordinary, you will find what you are looking for in their shop! (Some of them can even be customised, which we were really tempted by when we bought them).

Key specifications:

Classy recycled iPhone case, by Tech31

Yes, Tech31 again. But when heard of their latest innovation, we had to add it to the list. Their 100% recycled “Recovrd cases” are made using excess and returned Tech31 cases. And the result is this hygienically clean iPhone 12 eco case. A clever way to cut down internal waste and minimise their CO2 footprint!

We discovered that the black case is simple and elegant up close. Plus, it’s also a top pick if you’re looking for an antimicrobial phone cover, thanks to a formula that reduces microbes by up to 99.99%.

Yes, MMORE, the same brand as the coffee grain cases above. We love the design of their cases and it was difficult enough to pick just two. Once again, each case is handmade from sustainable wood (FSC certificate) that they carefully pick and to which they add a natural coating (0% VOC).

Bonus: The legend says that these tribal markings ward off calls from your ex or your mother in law. We can confirm this is totally true. Maybe.

Furthermore, no two wooden phone cases are the same, thanks to the natural variations in wood grains and patterns. We enjoyed bulk buying this phone case for the team and opening a box of totally unique and individual phone cases!

Best eco-friendly phone sleeve for the extra-cautious ones, by Petite LeRu

Rumy from Petite LeRu offers an impressive collection of handwoven phone sleeves (or phone socks) if you’re looking for something that will protect the whole phone against scratches and light hits. Each eco-friendly phone sleeve is crocheted using strong cotton yarn in a dense stitch for extra protection.

Going through her Etsy shop, there isn’t one phone sleeve that we didn’t like! That made it really hard to select just one to test and review. But eventually we settled on one. We particularly love the summer vibe of her “Coral Ombre” design (photo).

Key specifications:

Shock absorption Decent

Available for:

Don’t forget, all of these eco phone cases are available to ship anywhere in the UK.

Buying Guide for Eco-Friendly Phone Cases in the UK

There are 18 phone cases that made the final cut on our list, but we reviewed and tested numerous more. Here at the key things we looked for in a phone case – this is what you should be paying attention to, besides the colour and pattern of course!

Main materials: Simple but easy to overlook. Don’t just settle for bio-plastic or natural materials, dig a little deeper to fid out what actually goes in the phone case, as well as any inks and coatings that may be applied.

Sustainability: We ranked sustainability as either Great, Good, Decent or Poor (along with the other factors below) depending on the current circumstances. For example, bamboo is good for sustainability as it grows fast, but transporting it from where it grows in Asia is not so sustainable. New materials and innovations happen all the time, however, so keep your eyes peeled for new info regarding sustainability!

Durability: It’s simple but quite easy to test for. We even put our own phones on the line to make sure each case really was durable for heavy everyday use. This applies to the colour and design as well – no one wants to buy a phone case that will fade in the sun after a few months.

Grip: This is really important. having a good grip on your phone ensures you won’t drop it as easily, thus extending the life of the phone. The longer you use each phone, the less waste you accumulate over your lifetime, and that’s good for your wallet as well as the planet!

Shock absorption: Sometimes grip isn’t enough to keep your phone from slipping off the table… or even being thrown across the room in annoyance (technology sometimes gets the best of all of us). So, shock absorption is another important factor. Unfortunately, materials with a good “give” like silicone tend to have better shock absorption than hard natural materials like bamboo.

Toxic-free: It’s a simple spec to look for. Not all biodegradable materials are toxin-free. Some may even be coated in plastic films to make them last longer. So, we checked each material for toxins like BPA and phthalates.

Biodegradable: Make sure you read the last question in our FAQ below, as biodegradable and compostable are not the same thing. Sometimes, biodegradable is used in a very loose definition of the word, as biodegradable simply means that it will break down over time. So, when you research materials, make sure to check the timeline for the biodegrading. Or better yet, choose a phone case that’s compostable. Bamboo, cork and other natural materials will compost at home, while bioplastic will need to be composted professionally, and silicone isn’t biodegradable at all.

FAQs About Biodegradable Phone Cases

Are phone cases bad for the environment?

The answer isn’t that straightforward. Like with many products, it will depend on the quality, durability, and material of the phone case.

On one hand, the concept of the case is eco-friendly. It keeps your phone away from scratches and will protect it against drops, up to some extent. Thereby, it could considerably increase the longevity of your phone.

On the other hand, lots of the cheap covers you find online are of poor quality and made of plastic or silicone. While silicone is a better option than plastic, it still isn’t your best eco-friendly phone case material option… Then, if every phone owner ends up buying phone cases every 3 months because of their poor quality, you rapidly get mountains of phone cases in the landfills…

But the good news is, as you’ll see on our selection of the best eco-friendly phone cases, many phone cases are made of sustainable material that can be recycled or even composted!

What are biodegradable phone cases made of?

The most popular biodegradable phone case material may be bioplastic, as its texture gets close to a traditional plastic cover. For example, the Pela case in the list is made of Flaxstic, a plant-based bioplastic that contains flax straw waste. Be careful with bioplastics though, as not all bioplastics are created the same. For instance, some bioplastics aren’t chemicals-free!

Bamboo and cork are two other great options for biodegradable phone cases. Cork, in addition to being biodegradable, these 2 materials are extremely eco-friendly (as long as they are not chemically processed). Indeed, harvesting cork doesn’t harm the tree and bamboo is the fastest growing plant on earth.

Are phone cases recyclable?

Well, it all depends on the material the phone case is made of…

Most of the traditional plastic and silicone phone cases are made to protect your phone, so they are built to last. Some can be recycled, and others can’t. Good luck to recycle a rigid plastic case, for instance…

But many phone cases providers come up with original, yet sturdy cases than can entirely be recycled! Have a look at the Ocean75 cases for example, they are made of recycled plastic and can be recycled afterwards.

Is compostable the same as biodegradable?

No! Biodegradable simply means that the material will break down over time… not that it will happen quickly or easily. Still, biodegradable materials are preferable to ones that will sit in landfill for centuries. Compostable, on the other hand, usually means that the material will decompose quite quickly under the right circumstances. Paper-based and vegetable-based materials can typically be composted in your back garden with the right combo of nitrogen, moisture, air and microorganisms. Other compostable materials need to processed under very specific conditions to be composted, like bio-plastics. So, the best thing to do with those is put them in your food waste bin, or check with your local council about where to send them.

An introduction to sustainable charging

Wait, is that even a thing?

E-waste is a real concern as it keeps growing every year (+21% between 2014 and 2019), which is logical seeing the number of electronic devices we have at home.

Just consider this. Once upon a time, the only piece of “technology” we were carrying on a daily basis was a watch. Now, we (as in many people) carry a smartwatch, a phone, bluetooth headphones, a tablet and a laptop.

And obviously, all these devices need a charger.

Now, as consumers, there isn’t much we can do to reduce the number of chargers we own, as most devices are shipped with one. It’s up to manufacturers to find solutions (like Apple is doing with the iPhone 12 shipping without a wall charger and earbuds).

But what we can do is shop for an eco-friendly charger when we need a new one! Lecord, for example, is a Swedish company that produces Apple certified charging cables made of recycled fishing nets and wall chargers made of recycled plastic.

It isn’t much, but it’s the least we can do until manufacturers stop automatically sending a brand new charger with each device purchase.

90,000 73 photos of ideas for everyday use

A special case, which prevents cracks and micro damage, will help to extend the service life of the phone. Today the stores offer a large selection of different models.

Most of us love unusual things that help us stand out from the crowd.

A large number of interchangeable covers and panels helps to diversify the design of your mobile phone.

It is quite easy to buy the necessary accessory. Another thing to do it yourself from a variety of materials at hand.

Here you can emphasize your individuality and exquisite taste. Our material presents several ways to create a case with your own hands.

Review Content:

Materials for creating a protective cover

How to make a cover with your own hands? Everything is simple enough. The main requirement of the whole process is to have free time and good imagination.

Various materials can be used to make the accessory:

  • felt;
  • jeans;
  • silicone film;
  • wide elastic band;

The soft base of the materials protects the mobile phone from daily trials. No scratches or cracks remain on the glass surface.

Tools for making a mobile accessory

Before starting the workflow, it is recommended to prepare all the tools.

These include:

  • sharp scissors;
  • ruler;
  • button;
  • glue;
  • ribbon or lace is long;
  • sticky base.

When working with each material, it is necessary to take into account its properties. For example, felt does not crumble at the edges when cutting out details, while denim needs additional border decoration.

Silicone film does not like frequent exposure to a sharp needle. To do this, you need to use glue that dries after a few seconds.

The process of creating a phone case

The initial stage in the creation of the cover is the preliminary creation of the design of the future accessory. To do this, you can draw a sketch of the product on paper. It’s important to consider the size of your phone, as well as the location of your camera and microphone.

The finished cover should be slightly larger than a mobile phone. This will allow you to easily pull it out whenever you need it. Fabric accessories do not require specific sewing skills. Here you need to carefully sew two parts together.

The process of creating a cover is divided into several stages:

  • Cut paper patterns.
  • Transfer them to the material from which the cover will be made.
  • Carefully cut each piece, leaving 1 cm for the seams. This technique allows you to sew the correct product, taking into account the parameters of a particular model.
  • To join felt and denim, you need a sharp needle and strong thread.
  • To make a silicone case for the phone, specialized glue will help.
  • When all the parts are connected together, you can lock the safety button, which will prevent the cover from opening continuously.

For people leading an active lifestyle, you will need a sports phone case. Thanks to the dense elastic band on the forearm, it is well fixed on the human body.

For this, a small piece of thick elastic is sewn onto the finished protective product. In the process of movement, she will tightly press the mobile body to her hand.

Pay attention!

The design of the phone case, is a cover. In one side, the mobile phone case is fixed, and the other part serves as a protective panel. A snug fit of the top of the cover will provide small magnets that are fixed in the upper corners of the cover.

Additional sections for storing plastic cards can be made using a multilayer fabric structure.

This will require three fabric bases, which differ in size.

The first piece of the pocket is sewn to the base of the cover. All other elements are sewn together and fixed to the previous parts of the cover.

Decorative elements will help to create an exclusive design of an accessory for your phone.Fabric appliques add zest to your product. Do not use multi-colored details to decorate the case.

Experienced designers recommend sticking to the “three colors” technique or monochrome shades. As a result, the finished product will not appear tasteless.

Phone cases: types, material, advantages, disadvantages

When the first mobile smartphones appeared, it became necessary to protect them from external influences. Owners could drop the device on a hard concrete floor, put it in a pocket along with a bunch of keys, and simple, ordinary use led to scratches on the case and traces of abrasions.Over time, some owners got bored with the appearance of the device, and they wanted to diversify it.

First appeared a little, and then a huge number of cases for every taste and color. They were initially expensive and many people simply didn’t buy them. Their appearance was also “gloomy”, few manufacturers thought about the design. But with the development of the mobile phone market, cases have also developed. Chinese manufacturing firms have made countless of them for any owner, with a different budget, from different materials and many colors.

There are varieties of covers: bumpers, cover panels, flips, book covers, with enhanced protection and others. All of them can be found in the store.

Bumpers are a frame located along the edges of the case that protects the sides of the gadget. For complete protection, it is advisable to use glass or film.

Rubbers are the most popular category. Their choice is simply huge. The panel is applied to the back of the mobile device. They are comfortable and practical. We recommend choosing this particular phone case for yourself.

Their design outwardly resembles a “box” in which you need to flip the lid down. They keep the device well, look stylish and fashionable, but it is inconvenient to flip the lid all the time.

Opens from left to right. They are usually made from leather. They look solid, emphasizing the style and appearance of the owner.

Reinforced protection

The name speaks for itself.Such covers are usually used for an active lifestyle, for example, extreme sports. It’s not scary to drop them or use them in the rain.

They are also divided by materials: silicone, plastic, leather, TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), rubber, wood and the like.

Silicone is a soft, pleasant material that fits comfortably in the hand and protects the mobile device well. There are different colors and shades.

Plastic is a rather fragile material, but it resists shock well.

They look great, they are pleasant to tactile sensations, they keep the accessory well from chips and scratches.

TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane)

A special, relatively new material that simultaneously combines all the best characteristics of silicone and plastic. It is soft at the same time, but also quite tough. Perfectly holds blows.

This is a type of silicone case.Nice, beautiful, usually a cartoon character or a character from the animal world.

We have considered this issue rather superficially, but this information should be enough to choose a suitable accessory for your mobile phone.

1. Rivets

This is one of the easiest ways to create an original iPhone case with your own hands. These rivets can be easily ordered online. Moreover, they can be found in any store of accessories and sewing supplies. They can be attached to a case with a ready-made decoration on it, or you can use your own personal design. In fact, here the imagination is endless and you can come up with any pattern or ornament that will look good, laid out with such rivets. They can be glued to a hard plastic case or screwed onto a flexible rubber boot. But in any case, such rivets look very stylish, solid and fashionable, so you can’t go wrong with them.

2. Galaxy

Space print always looks very beautiful and somehow even slightly mysterious. Not everyone has the courage to use it in their wardrobe, but there is a wonderful opportunity to use it on such a small but very important detail like an iPhone case. In fact, this is the perfect opportunity to apply it without undue effort and effort. All that is needed is nail polishes … By the way, there was a use for old nail polishes, which already do not fit well, and it is a pity to throw it away. In addition to them, you still need an old sponge, which you do not mind cutting into pieces. Pieces of sponge will need to put multi-colored “stars” on the previously applied sky background.White paint and a very thin brush will still do the trick to “drip” small stars.

3. Custom Design

One of the easiest ways to customize your iPhone case is to paint it. You can use any felt-tip pens for this, but thin permanent markers are best. Then it all depends on your imagination. Ethnic patterns and prints look very beautiful and stylish. The main thing is to make them bright using as many colors as possible. But, in fact, you can draw whatever you want.

4. Fascinating

Such an adorable is very easy to make. You can use anything you want and fully express all your imagination. The perfect way to turn garbage lying around at home into something worthwhile.

This is a way to make your iPhone case not only original, but also intellectually filled. You just need to choose an interesting quote (it is better if this is your life credo, or it can be done as such) and write it on the surface of the case in a beautiful handwriting or original font. After that, thematically decorate the composition by drawing something or pasting the appropriate elements.

6. Simple but tasteful

If you are a fan of minimalism, this idea is just for you. Draw or glue some kind of emblem or symbol on the case to add detail without being too overwhelmed. The most popular symbols and signs are the infinity sign, anchor, cross, rainbow, diamond, ankh, etc. Pick what you like, pick the perfect color and try it yourself.

7. Yours and mine

This is the perfect way to make a present for your boyfriend, best friend or girlfriend, sister, brother or other loved one. You need to select the appropriate pattern and apply it to two iPhone cases. It is very interesting when they seem to be completed separately, but at the same time create one common composition when together. It is both fun and beautiful.

8. Swarovski

If you like everything shiny and sparkling, then this idea is for you. You don’t have to use Swarovski stones, although they will look amazing on your iPhone case. You can use beads. You can make a certain pattern from beads or stones. The main thing is to use imagination and choose the right colors.

9. Glitters and sparkles

Here’s another idea for those who love sparkling glamor. Again, it is not necessary to cover the entire case with glitter. You can come up with an interesting drawing or pattern that will sparkle against the main background. Here you will need a special blend glue and cosmetic glitter. Draw a drawing with a pencil that will sparkle (if you decide not to cover the entire case completely), grease this silhouette with glue, put glitter on top.Let them dry, shake off the remnants so that only a shiny pattern remains and cover them on top with another layer of glue. Don’t rash with too much glitter and don’t apply too much glue. If the pattern is very thick, the smooth effect will disappear.

10. Splashes of paint

Such an iPhone case is really very simple to make. Everyone knows how to splash paint. Remember this school drawing technique and go ahead to create your own individual and unique cover design. It is best to cover the cover with a special blend glue before splashing to ensure that the paint is guaranteed to stick and not peel off.Spray paint only after the glue has dried. Choose your favorite colors and go!

11. Wildlife

Every young lady in her life has a phase of passion for animal prints. Why not make an iPhone case in the same style? This will require thin permanent markers (in this case one is black) and an example of coloring. The print can be zebra, tiger, leopard or any other.

12. Gradient

The gradient is not so easy to make, but if done correctly, it will look gorgeous.Take paint, water, sponge and get to work. You will wash out the paint with water, approaching the place where the next color should begin. The sponge will help you blend colors. Any colors can be used. It’s best to practice on paper before ruining your case. When you realize that you have reached perfection in technology, you can take on the cover. Remember to use the blending glue before applying the paint.
