The visit is streamlined with smart touches of tech – like the long row of enomatic machines that, like adult soda fountains, welcome guests to taste a selection of their 28 wines before committing to a half-glass, glass, or bottle.

The wines and food follow through with Napoleon’s concept of an exceptional and easy wine experience. With a varied selection of hand-picked, reasonably-priced French labels categorized by taste, we were able to pick our top choices – and were happy to taste a few along the way – before settling on that perfect glass.

The small plates menu is intelligently created to pair well with all of their wines and are also meant for sharing, making the ordering process lively and involved. The menu offers a range of salads, platters and European and Asian-influenced mains, along with scrumptious desserts that most certainly call for adding a sweet wine to your iPad order!

Napoleon explores the rich culinary history and fabulous offerings of France. The Chef boasts an exquisite menu of traditional French brasserie dishes with a modern twist, focused on low temperature cooking. 

The Angus beef tenderloin ($39) was one of the highlights of the meal. This grilled grass fed beef was succulent to the core and had a chewy yet soft texture. It was served with mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts, roasted grapes and foie gras sauce. The sinful yet rich, creamy foie gras sauce enhanced the taste of the beef.

For the other main course, we had the pan roasted duck breast ($33). It was served medium, not something that I appreciated. I would prefer it well done, like the duck confit that I am normally used to eating. The charred duck skin had caramel notes and a crispy taste. It was served with carrot and ginger mousse, broccolini, bean stew and a balsamic reduction.

For the glass of wine that we tried, it was a glass of La Verdant 2017. It was a medium bodied, low tannin wine that we enjoyed. We saw the waiter fill the glass using the dispenser and it is a cool concept.

I also enjoyed the interior of this quaint restaurant, with a glass ceiling that allows sunlight to filter in during the day. Overall, prices for the main dishes were slightly steep, but for the French quality of cooking, it was worth it. There is a huge wine collection that you can sample by the glass, so it is suitable for the wine aficionados. Glasses are sold at $13-20 a glass, depending on the rarity and the age of the wine bottle. I would recommend going to Wine Connection or Ginett if you are looking to drink a few bottles of wine for the night.

Napoleon also has a set lunch menu, where the prices of the main courses are considerably cheaper.

    Fantastic place for Christmas Eve dinner! Even when dining alone on this festive occassion.
    Ordered their Christmas menu with wine pairing, and throughly enjoyed every course. The oysters and scallop cappuccino especially were superb!
    Service was fantastic, music lively, and you must, M-u-s-ttry to get a seat by the kitchen. The opportunity to view the screen on the wall opposite as it rotatintes art and sayings on wine are enlightening and hilarious.
    Had a wonderful time here. Thanks to great service and ambience, as well as good food and wine. Merci beaucoup et Joyeux Noel!

    If you are a fan of old world wines and an equal fan of red meats with the best red wine reduction, you must give this place a go. Equipped with at least 4 nitrogen wine preservers you can try very many glasses of fine reds to go with your tenderloin.
    Their red wine reduction is also brilliant. I half suspect that it involves using Kecap Manis and beef broth. But I get ahead of myself.
    Head here for a good one with a loved one.

    Order most of the mains, and had a cheese platter and cold cut platter. Can’t find a flaw in all the dishes. First try on beef tartare and it was amazing! Maybe just the complimentary bread could be better in texture (softer?) ambience is good, cozy and intimate, staff’s attentive.

    Great food, an amazing wine selection and warm service particularly by manager and sommelier Julien made my first visit one to remember. Was back a week later at this chic spot — lovely place to relax with a glass of wine (or several). Make reservations as it’s quite cosy inside. Highly recommend.

    I’ve only swung by for wine and fries, so I can’t comment on the food.
    Overall, a great place to grab bottle of wine takeaway or to discover new bottles. Their “by the glass” selection is the best I’ve seen in Singapore.
    To be honest, the staff here are kinda intimidating. They seem so “too cool for school”. But actually, they’re super friendly and will talk with you to find the right wine.

    First time here using Amex deal. Blown away by all the dishes we ordered as we love them all. Realised they won best restaurant for 2019 & 2020, though the cert was placed in an obscure area.
    Interesting Napoleon deco but it was the food that won our tummies over. Heard from friendly waiter they’ve been opened for 6+yrs already. Chefs are 3 locals. Keep up the good food!

    This restaurant is so good. At one point, we went back 4 times over 2 weeks. I almost didn’t want to leave a review because this place is already quite popular and crowded. I didn’t want to make it more difficult to get a table 🙂 But, the food and the service is really, really good.

    As per the french emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, this restaurant deserve the same notoriety.
    From the cuisine to the wine without forgetting the services, this place is a the perfect place for all your desire, a glass with your friends the waiter won’t forget to laugh with you, a romantic night the manager won’t forget to make you feel very special and will take care of everything!!

    One of my favorite places, great atmosphere service and wine. Feels like Paris with the waiters rushing to and fro all night. Menu is a little smaller than other places but everything we’ve had has been delicious and they always have some specials of the day if you need more variety. Generous cheese platter, foie gras pâté is wonderful with fruit jam and blueberries, they will serve as much baguette as you need, butter was yummy, loved the beef tartare. 5 stars!☺️☺️

    I’ve been here twice and each time I asked myself, why didn’t I take more photos? This is a small but cosy establishment, offering real good French fare at not pretentious prices.
    I truly love their specials and yesterday I had the special lamb ravioli which was just perfect in my mind! Oh so creamy and just melts-in-your-mouth type of ravioli!
    Superb. Oh ya, did I mention they have a list of beautiful French wines that do not burn your pocket?

    We had the most gorgeous lunch at Napoleon on Tuesday. We were in the neighbourhood looking for a place and stumbled upon it – what a find! Some of the best French food we have enjoyed in years, a fabulous wine list and awesome service. The manager explained the provenance of the food and wine, and all of it is individually sourced from providers that they have a relationship with. The wine list is exclusively French and lists bottles that would be hard to find in France as they are in such limited supply. We both had steak frite for lunch with bone marrow and charcuterie starters. All were exceptional and I’ve rarely enjoyed better steak. Special mention to Mili our fantastic waitress

    Went for dinner without reservation and we were warmly welcomed by the French cutie at the door. Sat at one of the front seats outside for the first hour before we were transferred to a small dark corner. Not the restaurant’s fault as we did not reserve. But would be great if they could put set up some small lamp at the corner. Enjoyed their non-pretentious dishes nonetheless. Will come back for happy hour soon!

    It is a French restaurant and the food is quite good. The ambiance is pretty good. Cosy yet atas or posh. They have limited seating so preferably booking seats would be best. They have a set lunch menu and pretty decent amount. Their pasta, steak is damn good. I loved the crab starter. The staff is very friendly with a tinge of nice humour. They have nice recommendations and engaging. I would definitely go again over lunch. I am sure the dinner is also pretty good.
    They have a few outdoor seating as well but mostly indoor. ENjoy your time and food here!

    A French resto with a bit of an Italian flair to it. Food is definitely not cheap; the appetizers are reasonable the mains are quite pricey. Food were delicious, though I must say the bone marrow (I love bone marrow!) was covered with so much other stuff (stewed beef, etc) that I cant taste the marrow. The wine ‘full glass’ in my definition is 1/3 of a glass; so just bear in mind. The pasta was very good, the lamb was cooked too perfection. 4 star here, is mainly because of the small portion of wine (which was pricey)

    A French restaurant located close to the Amoy food centre. Deco within the restaurant was warm and charming.
    I wanted the burrata salad but was not available and chose the cold cut platter instead for my entree. As for the mains, I ordered the pan fried duck breast.
    The duck breast was done to perfection and it went well with the sour cabbage that came along with it. Perfect balance of different tastes on one plate.

    Wide variety of wine but limited choice of starters and mains.
    We ordered the duck breast which is so so but the beef tartare was awesome.
    The lava cake was not much of liquid lava instead it’s kinda like chocolate pudding.
    Vibe is nice and perfect for date night but will not recommend for the food.
    Staff ethics is a bit off as manager and staff were flirting with guest as well order was a bit messy. A small place with 4 staff on the floor I will expect better.

    Mediocre food – nothing to rave about. I did appreciate the bread basket on the side, a very French touch. For the price point, the service could be improved. Had a sexist treatment from one of the waiter who seems to think that women are incapable of getting the bill. First, he handed the bill to my male friend even though I had my wallet out. I explicitly said I’ll be getting the bill but when he returned after charging the credit card, he passed my card to my friend once again…

    Not the most pleasant when you’re a party of two. We were seated on a Wed night right in the back of the restaurant amongst 3 groups of tables. I just wanted to eat and leave as fast as I could given we had to shout across the table to even have a decent convo. Understand that’s the situation if the resto was crowded but upon leaving we saw at least 3 couples of 2s seated nearer to the entrance and that was way quieter. Very disappointed as the manager did not bother to check in with us and was constantly chatting with the bigger groups. It’s a shame because the food was not bad but spoiled by the bad service and thoughtless seating arrangement. Definitely not worth the premium you pay.

    Terrible experience, we booked a week before and the system secured us a place, only to receive a call a day before telling us that it’s full house and we can only dine at the “high table”. Mind you, the high table is next to the entrance, where people cross and “wait” to be directed to their seats. So my question is where is the safety measures put in place in view of covid-19? Is it fair for the diners to secure a seat weeks in advance just to find out that random people stood next to my table not knowing if it is safe to continuously dine in peace? In addition, we are aware of the 10.30pm restriction but surprisingly they retrieved our drinks ordered before 10.30pm. I mean we understand with the rules enforcement but having your drinks taken away exactly at 10.30pm (ordered beforehand) is a big mistake, you should at least allow your customers to finish their drinks within a said 10-15 mins after 10.30pm. Good luck to your operation when the situation is back to normal. For myself and my friends/family, this restaurant is out of my list.

    I would like to share my horrible experience today at the restaurant, where the staff kept chasing us to give up our table even though we were half-way through our meal and within the 2 hours time slot agreed over the phone when I confirmed the reservation.
    Details of the incident: I made a reservation at 7pm today, 17 July 2020 and arrived at the restaurant right on time. I was notified beforehand that I am able to dine for 2 hours, which I agreed. As we were finishing the main dish at appromximately 8pm and thinking of what to order for dessert, the waitress told us that we arrived at 6.30pm and had to give up the table. We explained that we arrived at 7pm hence we should be able to dine till 9pm. She explained that there was another reservation and would need the table at 8.30pm. We agreed despite their mix-up and proceeded to order dessert. When we were half-way through dessert at 8.10pm, another waiter approached us and said that the next reservation had arrived, so they needed the table immediately. I am perplexed as the tables around us arrived earlier and the staff kept chasing us to give up the table. It really spoiled the whole meal experience and more importantly, none of the staff apologised for the mix-up.

    I made a reservation a week ago and arrived 30 min early. The place was fully packed and we were given a narrow high-top table by the door entrance (it cannot fit any dinner plates and the area clearly does not comply with social distancing measures). I asked to be given our table inside as soon as it’s available. After waiting for more than 40 min, a stream of people arrived and were all waiting for their tables at the same time. One couple went in before us and we were still not given our table despite asking for it many times. There is clearly no regard of social distancing as people are crowding by the entrance next to me and we were not updated whether we will get our table or not. I felt unsafe by groups of people gathering next to me and the staff do not bother to keep patrons at a safe distance. I will never visit this place again due to its lack of service and lack of regard of social distancing.

    Whenever you go out for dinner and try a new place it can happen that it doesn’t actually match your expectations or something goes wrong with the service, location or something else. However, what it can never and ever happen is to be food poisoned – this is unacceptable, especially for a place like this that position itself as a premium restaurant.
    Yesterday night, I went to Napoleon for dinner, ordered a cheese and cold cut platter, two main courses – meat – and one bottle of wine. The total cost was 250+. A few hours after dinner, both myself and my friend felt sick and we had a very terrible night spent in the toilet vomiting everything we had eaten.
    To be completely fair and transparent, the service was good considering the Singapore standards. But again, getting poisoned with the food is UNACCEPTABLE and I warn everyone else to be very far away from this place.

    I have been there once in 2019 and remember my dining experience to be pretty good.
    I made a reservation for last Friday, 17 July, but received a call from them on that very same day telling me that they were fully booked and that I had to be bumped off the list.
    So I made another reservation for this Friday, 24 July, and just received a call from them telling me the very same thing.
    What gives? What is the point of a reservation system when they can’t tell if they will be fully booked or not? And there was no good reason provided on both occasions. Their customer service needs help too.

    If you consider yourself a wine drinker, I have a question: do you know which kind of wines you like? I ask this, because for a little bit too long I ordered wines that other people believed to be ‘good’ brands and most of the time, didn’t really enjoy them. I suppose I found the whole bar and restaurant wine-ordering-experience more intimidating and pompous than it really ought to be. Welcome to Napoleon Food & Wine Bar, home of the friendly wining experience…making wine just as accessible as it should be.

    Situated next to the much loved Market Grill on Telok Ayer, I felt a bit like I was cheating! but this is a totally different concept. Napoleon is essentially a rustic-styled bar..but enhanced with its slick enomatic wine dispensers, iPad’s (encased in Napoleon’s famous jacket) to place your order on, 32 European wines to choose from and an on-hand sommelier whose intention is to make drinking wine easy and fun. For those of you who haven’t seen enomatic wine dispensers before, these are essentially machines which minimise wastage, allowing for the wines to stay open for around 2 weeks, as opposed to just a few days, which means you can try some more expensive wines by the glass.

    The wines are categorised by taste, e.g ‘smooth’, ‘fruity’, ‘spicy’, ‘rich’, ‘sweet’ etc, which means you can order by the flavours you like, rather than the brand. This is also a great way for discovering new wines you may not have previously tried. If you’re a complete novice then never fear, because Napoleon Food & Wine Bar offers a tasting option (starting at $2) as well as half glass (starting at $4), full glass (starting at $8) and bottle orders too ($36).

    Although during the evenings Napoleon is filled with happy drinkers, during lunch hours the Food & Wine Bar offers a variety of scrumptious dishes. Here are my favourite plates:

    The Prawn Salad ($16) is simple and clean. I’d recommend this as a part of a lunch set as it isn’t much of a filler, but certainly full of flavour. For something that’s well-balanced, go for the Lamb Shank Parma Tier (tasting portion pictured) at $28. The boozy flavoured meat topped with smooth and buttery horse-radish mash is a great lunchtime pick and goes down far too easily for something that takes 5 or 6 hours to cook. Although it’s a total crime, I kind of saw this as an upmarket version of a Shepherds Pie, at least in terms of texture and consistency.

    If you appreciate good chicken, the Coq Au Vin ($20) is an exceptionally soft leg served with a carrot puree. This one needs very little explantation – my favourite dish on the menu.

    For desert, opt for the zesty Lemon Tart ($12) served with a dressing of fruit and crumble. A delicious end to a meal. If only they did a crumble dish because this homemade crumble is perfect.

    I would recommend some wines, but that would totally ruin the whole concept. Go! Try out some out for yourself and discover what it is you like. For good food and delicious wines, well-explained, in an un-intimidating, friendly environment head to Napoleon Food & Wine Bar.

    Napoleon Food & Wine Bar! An intimate 42-seater restaurant located along Telok Ayer Street (nearest mrt station DT18 Telok Ayer & EW15 Tanjong Pagar) that marries old world charm with cutting edge technology.

    We were greeted with nature-inspired theme deco with heavy emphasis on rock and wood upon entering the establishment. In the midst of the bar is also an eye-catching high-tech glass-encased wine display counter complete with automated dispensing abilities.

    Parisian owner Jean-Christophe Cadoret, having come from a family of wine makers in France, aims to provide wines of great quality and price points by specifically selecting wines from parcels adjacent to prestigious vineyards in France.

    Napoleon provides an extensive menu of not only wines, but modern European cuisine as well.

    For starters, the Homemade Foie Gras Terrine ($22) is classically executed with the pairing of foie gras and fruit chutney, balancing each out in acidity and richness.

    Hand-cut Agnus Beef Tartare ($30) may look intimidating especially for those not used to eating their beef raw, however surprisingly, the taste is relatively mild. The hand-cut texture ensures the beef is neither too tough nor fine, with enough bite and flavor in each mouthful.

    PinkyPiggu prefers her food to be cooked, and naturally, the Roasted Angus Beef Tenderloin ($32) resonated better with her tastebud.

    The beef itself was very pleasing, prepared to a succulent doneness that did justice to the cow that sacrificed its life for our dining table. It was served two ways, one with creamy gratin dauphinois, the other with appetizing ratatouille. We can’t decide which was better. Both were equally good in their own ways.

    We continued the meal by moving on to some carbs.

    The Shrimps Truffle Angel Hair ($21) is served with finely chopped seaweed for an umami kick and the 75°C egg created a certain creaminess to the dish. Very well-flavored as a whole, but the angel hair’s texture was a tad too soft. The pasta were also cut into shorter strands (perhaps because we were sharing the food) which imparted a less-than-satisfactory mouthfeel and diluted the overall enjoyment.

    Highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the Lobster Risotto ($36)! The risotto is cooked with quality acquarello rice to al-dente perfection and packed with robust essence of lobsters. Creamy and ooh so yummy!

    Desserts wise, the Duo of Chocolate ($15) has chocolate ganache and canele served with vanilla gelato and coffee crumble. Popping candy sprinkled around the desserts is creatively used to surprise diners.

    This chocolate delight is best shared amongst friends, and be rewarded with interesting reactions!

    Overall, Napoleon will likely please both food and wine lovers, especially the latter group with its wide selection of 32 exclusive French wines and highly customizable wine portions which allows diners to choose from tasting portions to full glass servings.

    The intimate 42-seater restaurant is especially cosy in the evenings, and from what we’ve heard they’re very serious about their wines. With 32 exclusive French wines served by the Glass and Affordable Grands Crus Selections for both amateur and wine connoisseurs. Customers will be embraced by the rich, warm tones of natural materials once they enter. The highlight, for those with a sense of humour, is the clever ‘French pocket design’ fashioned for the iPad menu and ordering system, inspired by the well-known historical fact that Napoleon favoured tucking his hand into his tunic.

    Hand-cut Angus Beef Tartare – $30

    We got to try some new menu items recently launched at Napolean, starting with a starter of Hand-cut Angus Beef Tartare. A classic appetizer though some of us may not be used to the finely chopped minced raw beef. Well-seasoned with capers, raw egg yolk, parmesan and topped with crispy truffle potatoes which was surprisingly addictive.

    Homemade Foie Gras Terrine – $32

    The Homemade Foie Gras Terrine was also a worthy mention – artfully plated and tasted rich and sweet. Served with Fruit Chutney, Monbazillac & Balsamic Reduction.

    Roasted Angus Beef Tenderloin – $32

    For the mains, we started with the Roasted Angus Beef Tenderloin. The slabs of beef tenderloin was very tender and we especially loved the Potato Gratin Dauphinois which was stacked beneath the beef. Served alongside a dash of carrot puree, it was an intricate balance of sweet and salty. Not forgetting we had a glass of bordeaux, St Emilion Grand Cru to go alongside, definitely ask for a wine recommendation from the friendly people at Napoleon.

    Creamy Lobster Risotto – $36

    Next was the Creamy Lobster Risotto, a creamy and rich dish to sinfully indulge in. Fairly decent in presentation, but it was simply flavoured with lobster chunks and the rice was tender to the touch.

    Shrimps Truffle Capellini – $21

    To round our choices from the mains, the Shrimps Truffle Capellini is a light dish to have which was not overwhelming, simply because of the type of thin pasta used. It was very well balanced with confit shrimps, seaweed and truffle oil.

    Duo Chocolate – $12

    The dessert items are something I always look forward to, and it truly did not disappoint. If you’ve already had a couple of drinks for the evening, consider trying their Duo of Chocolate. Priced quite affordably at $12, the combination of Chocolate Ganache and Mi-cuit Canele with Salted Caramel was simply to die for. It had all the surprising elements you can expect in a dessert, and more. Served with a scoop of Vanilla Gelato and a handful of ‘pop rocks’ which had the classic tingling sensation and popping as we took each bite.

    When visiting Singapore, of course, I would like to look at this wonderful city, built with maximum feng shui in mind, from a height. And the choice of places for this is not small here.     Best Observation Deck in Singapore

    One Raffles Place is the tallest building in the country. It rises to 282 meters. From such a height, a stunning view of the bay and the center of Singapore opens up. There is a great rooftop bar with a 360 ° view of the city. The bar is considered the tallest outdoor bar in the world.

    In my opinion, this bar is better than the one in the Marina Bay hotel building. 1-Altitude is much higher. There is much more space and a richer interior, excellent bar and restaurant menus.And, of course, there is a better view here, since here it is circular and has a view not only of the center of Singapore, the Ferris wheel and super-trees, but also of the Marina Bay hotel itself, which you will not see when you are in the rooftop bar Marina Bay Sands.
