Fans are mourning the loss of the former TLC star after he documented his weight loss journey on season 5 of the hit reality series.

“It’s sad that his father, with his frail health, outlived him. RIP, James,” one wrote on a Reddit thread about the sad news. “I hope he finds freedom and peace in his death that he wasn’t able to find in life. He was enslaved by an addiction, it’s still tragic he wasn’t able to overcome it,” another added while sharing their condolences.

“I always always hope they are successful in losing the weight because no one should go through what they go through,” a third wrote.

The Illinois native was described as a “loving husband, son, brother, daddy and ‘poppy’ to his grandchildren,” according to his obituary posted on the Milner and Orr Funeral Home website.

King made his debut on My 600-lb Life in 2017, weighing 791 pounds during his first visit with Dr. Younan Nowzaradan (a.k.a. Dr. Now). Fans were especially touched by his story after seeing his father refinance his home to help support his fitness goals. At the time, King was bedridden and eager to make a change. When the father of six returned for the follow-up episode in 2018, he opened up about his setbacks and had reached 840 pounds.

King is the seventh member of My 600-lb Life to have died throughout the duration of the series.

‘My 600-lb Life’: James King died after gaining 160 lbs in 2 months as his wife sneaked him pizzas

James King had been fighting for his life before coming on the show as his weight stopped him from living a normal life. Weighing 791lbs, doctors had informed his family that he only had a few months left to live if he continued in the same direction. Unable to cut ties with food, James had always struggled with his weight.

He put the blame on his past trauma and unloving relationships that he had in the past. James revealed on the show that his parents did not have a healthy relationship. He recalled seeing his mother only thrice in his childhood and during these times she was always drunk. James added that it was his dad who took care of him.

While James spent a lot of his time wondering how his life would have been if he had his mother in his life, as he grew up, he finally got the chance to reconnect with her. This moment made James believe that he had everything in his life but nothing had prepared him for what was to come.

A couple of months after their meeting, James’ mother passed away and it left him shattered. On the same day, James revealed that he got a call where he was informed that his house had burnt down. Having two losses on the same day, James fell into a deep depression and his journey with food began.

While James got addicted to food, his family tried their best to help him out. James’s father even refinanced his home in the bid to make some money that could help James with his weight loss journey. Meanwhile, his daughter dropped out of school as she wanted to help her father with everyday chores.

While James’ father and daughter tried to help him out, his wife, Lisa, did not seem to be on board with the idea. Dr Younan Nowzaradan had a hard time convincing Lisa that she was an enabler. While James had to be on a strict diet to lose his weight, the results were not showing and Dr Nowzaradan could not help but blame Lisa for it.

It reached a point where James had to be admitted to the hospital because his health conditions due to his weight became bad. Dr Nowzaradan was surprised to see how his health scare also did not motivate him to lose some weight.

He tried to put him on a strict diet when James got admitted into the hospital but was surprised to find out that in two months he had managed to put on 160lbs while staying in the hospital.

Dr Nowzaradan was quick to question James about his weight gain. There were a handful of excuses that he had planned. Right from justifying his weight gain to it being “water weight” to saying it might be “muscle weight”, James refused to admit that he had put on weight due to overeating.

Dr Nowzaradan held Lisa accountable for these changes as he found out she tried to sneak in food including pizza for James to eat. He was not happy about this and looking at his level of motivation, James was soon taken out of the program.

In April 2020, TLC confirmed that James was no more. “TLC was deeply saddened by the loss of James King, who shared his weight-loss journey on My 600lb Life. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time,” they wrote on their Twitter page.

‘My 600-lb Life’ Update On James Jones: Where Is He Now?

My 600-lb Life cast member James Jones had a memorable episode when TLC cameras first filmed his journey. But how is he doing these days?

My 600-lb Life: James Jones’ TLC Journey

James Jones made his My 600-lb Life debut back in Season 2 of the TLC program. Back then, in 2014, James Jones was 37 years old. And at that age, he tipped the scales at 728 pounds. Right out of the gate, he was in a dire situation – and the only way out at that point was with Dr Now’s help.

James Jones didn’t start as an obese child. But by the time he was a teenager, he weighed in at 280 pounds. Adding to the stress of that situation, his sister and father passed on due to obesity issues. To cope with the stress and loss, he turned to food – which only made his problem worse. So by the time he made it to Houston, his life was most certainly on the line.

Pain can make you give up completely, or pain can make you start over again. It’s totally up to you. ~James Jones, My 600-lb Life

— Arnold Flores 🚢 Psychotainment Creative (@aflorescpywrtr) December 23, 2020

James Took the First Steps

Getting to Houston on My 600-lb Life is just the first step in any TLC weight loss journey. Because of his initial weight on the TLC show, James Jones wasn’t approved for surgery. He had to put in the work to drop the weight before he got the seal of approval. Meanwhile, that included going on Dr Now’s strict diet. Going on that strict diet means giving up a lot of the usual suspects in terms of comfort foods. But it was time to face the music for the TLC star.

Luckily for him, he went all-in when it counted – and he really turned things around. Eventually, he got the surgery he needed. After that, he took that momentum and ran with it. By the end of his My 600-lb Life episode, James Jones clocked in at 376 pounds. Moreover, that adds up to 352 pounds down by the end of his episode.

Where is the

My 600-lb Life Celeb Today?

Given his family history of obesity, Dr Now warned James Jones on My 600-lb Life that it wouldn’t take much to slip back into his old ways if he wasn’t careful. With so many family members lost to obesity-related issues, it was important that someone in the family turn things around. Meanwhile, based on the latest from James Jones, he did just that.

James Jones keeps up the healthy habits he learned from Dr Now on My 600-lb Life. And as a result, he lives a much healthier and happier life overall. Considering the fact that he wasn’t far off from death’s door, James really turned things around. Moreover, because of his hard work and commitment, he gave himself another chance at life. Meanwhile, from the looks of it, he seems to make the most of it.

Former ‘My 600 Lb. Life’ Season 5 Star James King Has Passed Away – The Ashley’s Reality Roundup

James King, who appeared on Season 5 of TLC’s My 600 Lb. Life, passed away on Friday.

According to his obituary, James died in Nashville at the age of 49. While his cause of death has not been revealed, James had dealt with various health issues in the past, including cirrhosis of the liver and sepsis.

James, who lived in Paducah, Kentucky, is survived by his wife, Lisa (who appeared on the show with him), their six children and 19 grandchildren. According to his obituary, James’ funeral arrangements will be private.

James during his 2017 episode…

James’ episode was memorable because, at the time of filming, James was the heaviest person that had ever been featured on the show, weighing in initially at 791 lbs. During a “Where Are They Now?” episode the show’s medical adviser, Dr. Now, removed him from the weight loss program in Month 11 because he felt that James had failed to make enough progress to be able to have weight loss surgery.

“Hopefully he’ll work to get under 600 lbs, and I’ll continue him on this program,” Dr. Now said during the episode. “But, until then, James is done. ”

At the end of one of his update episodes, James vowed to lose half of his body weight and get back into Dr. Now’s program but, unfortunately, that never happened. At one point, James weighed in at 843 lbs.

In a tweet posted on Monday, TLC– the network that airs ‘My 600 lb. Life’– confirmed James’ death and expressed its condolences to his family.

“TLC was deeply saddened by the loss of James King, who shared his weight-loss journey on My 600lb Life,” TLC tweeted. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.”

Tragically, James is the seventh ‘My 600 Lb. Life’ cast member to pass away, with Season 1’s Henry Foots being the show’s first loss in 2013. Rob Buchel of Season 6 passed away in 2017 from a heart attack and the following year, L.B. Bonner, also of Season 6, committed suicide. That same month, Lisa Fleming of Season 3 passed away from causes unrelated to her weight.

Lisa Fleming during her Season 3 episode.

In February 2019, Sean Milliken, who appeared on Season 4, died after suffering complications from an infection at the age of 29. That month also saw the loss of Season 7’s Kelly Mason, who died of heart failure during her ‘My 600 Lb. Life’ episode.

James’s unfortunate passing comes as ‘My 600 Lb. Life’ production company Megalomedia faces multiple lawsuits from former stars, including one from L.B.’s family for the production company’s role in his 2018 death.

Lawsuits have also been filed by David Bolton (Season 6), Maja Radanovic (Season 7), Gina Krasley (Season 8), Dottie Perkins (Season 4) Jeanna Covey (Season 7) and, as of this weekend, Nicole Lewis (Season 5).

Megalomedia has denied the claims made in the lawsuits.

‘My 600-lb Life’ Star James King’s Cause of Death Revealed by Family

Almost a week after it was reported that My 600-lb Life star James King died, his cause of death has been revealed. Because his death came amidst the current health pandemic, TMZ has clarified that King’s passing was not related to the coronavirus. The publication went on to report the actual cause of death for the reality star, expressing that he passed due to a specific health complication.

TMZ reported that King got sick in early February. One of his family members, who was not identified, told the outlet that the former My 600-lb Life star’s liver and kidneys were shutting down due to his weight. On Feb. 10, King, who lived in Paducah, Kentucky, was transported to a local hospital for treatment. However, he was later transported to a Nashville hospital, as they were better able to treat a patient of his size. After experiencing liver and kidney issues, King’s heart reportedly gave out because of the stress that his body was under. The publication reported that he died on April 3 in the Nashville hospital. King is survived by his wife, Lisa Raisor King, four daughters, two sons, and 19 grandchildren.

King was first brought into the spotlight in 2018 when he appeared in an episode of TLC’s My 600-lb Life. At the time, he shared his tragic backstory, telling the audience that he was raised by a single father and that his mother was a severe alcoholic and was consequently not around. Later in life, he reconnected with his mother. But, shortly after doing so, she passed away from liver cancer. On the same day of his mother’s funeral, his family house burned down.

“I lost just about everything I had in a single day,” he said in the episode. “I just couldn’t handle all that. I was just so depressed, tore up — I couldn’t even go to school. It seemed like all I wanted to do was eat.” My 600-lb Life also chronicled the health problems that King was experiencing. He had reportedly suffered from sepsis, cirrhosis of the liver and kidney failure. During his time on the show, he had a peak weight of 791 pounds and was, at the time, the heaviest person to be featured on the program.

Following the news of King’s passing, the official Twitter account for My 600-lb Life issued a statement. In their message, they related that they were “deeply saddened” to hear the news. They added, “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”

“I’m really at a loss now,” her daughter Danielle shared on Facebook at the time of Lisa’s death. “This morning I sat and held your hand for 4 hours, knowing that nothing I could do would bring you back to me. James ‘LB’ Bonner

Last August, Season 6 LB committed suicide just a week before his partner Lisa passed away. This came as a surprise to many fans who adored LB for his optimism, social media accounts (on which he amassed an unprecedented audience for the TLC show), and weight loss success. LB has managed to shed more than half of its original 650 pound body weight.

But L.B. struggled with depression and announced: “It’s time to meet my demons” on the evening of August 2, and LB. committed suicide the next day.

Season 6 Robert was unfortunately the first actor to pass away while filming My 600 Pound Life. The New Jersey native sought help from Dr. No when he gained 840 pounds and managed to lose 340 pounds with the help of a renowned bariatric surgeon.

However, Robert was also addicted to painkillers and suffered a fatal heart attack while filming his episode of the TLC show. His story (Season 6, Episode 8) aired four months after his passing.

Henry Foots

Henry was the second person to ever appear on My 600lb Life and has been loved by fans who have watched the show on TLC from day one. When he appeared on the 750 pound show, he tried to lose weight for a high school reunion.

The Doctor has now helped Henry lose more than half of his weight and ended up gaining 275 pounds. During the procedure to remove excess skin, Henry momentarily died on the operating table, but returned to life.“There was a light to take me to heaven,” he told the cameras. “I was not ready for this because there is so much here on earth that I haven’t done yet.”

It took a large drill to do some of the larger chores around the house.

I have this drill and both are compact 1. The drill works great with compact batteries.I learned about it from my own bitter experience and from my own experience. Its release is scheduled for October, but things like that can always change.

I have been in the school district for 17 years and most of our wireless products are Dewalt. We are now starting to move on to Makita or Bosch. I still prefer Dewalt Milwaukee. Milwaukee, however, is making better chain products. A reader wrote an email inquiring about the possibility of Dewalt coming out with brushless 20V Max versions of their premium drills and hammer drills. Answer In my opinion, DeWalt missed a chance in the transition from their 18V stempack line to their 20V slide backpack line.

Answer Dewalt should have moved the stem changer to slide packs earlier, this should have been 2-3 years before the actual release of the 20B line. Answer I think it will be a while before we see an update on the premium drill. Answer I know the brushless transducer has turned many of these tools into really good tools, but some of these premium cordless tools are expensive compared to their cheaper and more powerful wired counterparts. And, as you said, in this economy, money is everything.

Wireless devices can do great things, but if you work with these tools on a regular basis, wired networks wins out all over the place. But if you have to switch, take them, but most of the market will stick with what works for them. Answer 4. compact drills still only come with 1. Quote Well, all big drill sets with 3. Quote I believe that dewalt is a novelty in brushless technology, so I have not yet found the balance between brushless and high torque to offer brushless premium drilling for now.

Size matters, but small brushless motors are usually purposefully small.

rob the Kardashian and rank still together?

Looks like a resident of Palm Beach, Florida was very unhappy with the editing she received in her storyline with her fiancé. As scripted by Abu Khurira . The couple were introduced to fans in the second season to document their love story. Brittany and 24-year-old Yazan met through his sister, who was one of Brittany’s neighbors in America. After Yazan proposed, Brittany decided to move to Jordan to start a life together as a couple.

But the rapper kept the main secret from Yazan. She was still officially married to her first husband, so she continued to postpone her marriage to Yazan. His parents did not trust Brittany and felt that she was pulling their son with her. They will also give the couple their marriage blessing only if Brittany converts to Islam, follows their Muslim culture and abandons their “haram” American lifestyle, which included drinking alcohol, wearing revealing clothes and photos and videos on social networks. When she refused to abide by their rules, Yazan’s parents expressed their disapproval.

Even after Brittany finalized her divorce, she still wasn’t sure if she wanted to marry Yazan, and she cooled off when she found out that Yazan would lose everything if they tied the knot marriage. Since Yazan’s family did not approve of Brittany, his tribe could either disown him or they could decide to kill him in recognition of the murder for bringing shame and disrespect to their family.

Yazan was willing to risk everything and give up his family to be with Brittany, but ultimately she decided that she did not want to marry Yazan and live together in Jordan because of the “danger” they faced … Instead, she offered them a K-1 visa, which would allow Yazan to legally move to the United States with Brittany, provided they get married within 90 days of Yazan’s arrival. The couple’s storyline went unnoticed when she returned to the United States without him.

While it is unclear if Brittany and Yazan are still together and have started the K-1 visa process, Brittany is still in America and Yazan remains in Jordan.

90,000 A Briton accidentally threw away a disc with $ 287 million worth of bitcoins and is now asking the authorities for help

James Howles accidentally threw away his hard drive, which contained an electronic wallet with 7,500 bitcoins worth 210 million pounds

A Briton who mistakenly threw his hard drive into the trash in 2013 from a laptop containing an electronic wallet with 7,500 bitcoins worth 210 million pounds (287 million dollars), asks the authorities to allow him look for him in the landfill.

James Howles promised to give 25% of the bitcoin value to the residents of his city in Wales (this is approximately $ 71.5 million), but the city administration said that the license does not allow excavation at the landfills.

Howles said that if the hard drive is found, he will immediately donate some of the money to a coronavirus fund for Newport residents.

“Imagine how great it would be if I said, ‘I gave every resident a few hundred pounds,’” he said in an interview with the BBC.

A man bought bitcoins for almost nothing in 2009, and he kept a hard drive with a cryptocurrency in his desk after spilling liquid on a computer that he threw away.

As a result, he forgot about the bitcoins stored on the disk and threw it away during the cleaning. In 2013, their cost was already about $ 7.5 million. Now their price has increased almost 50 times – one bitcoin costs about 28 thousand dollars.

    Photo author, James Howells

    Photo caption,

Howles is ready to give a quarter of the funds to the residents of Newport

He said that he repeatedly appealed to the Newport authorities with a request to allow the search for a hard drive, but each time he was refused.

“I offered to give 10% of the value of the cryptocurrency in order to get permission to search in their territory, but, unfortunately, they refused,” Howles told the BBC. “Then the cost of bitcoin just skyrocketed. In 2017, the disc has already cost approximately £ 125 million ($ 171 million). ”

“Then I again offered 10%, and was again refused, – he says. – I did not apply with the offer today, but I am ready to raise my offer to 25%. I would like to donate them to the Newport Coronavirus Fund. “

According to Howles, at first it seems that the disc will be very difficult to find, but it is not. He said he knew when he threw away the hard drive, and in the landfill, garbage was piled up in certain places at certain times. For the search, he will hire a team of professionals.

He noted that he found investors who are willing to pay the costs of the search, for which he must transfer them a part of the bitcoins.

Howles said that he would like to discuss this with the city administration, because, according to him, they will not lose anything from it.

An administration official said: “Since 2013, we have been repeatedly asked to allow us to search for the computer hardware that holds bitcoins. Howles first came to us a few months after he realized he had thrown away the disc.”

“The administration has repeatedly advised Howles that search there is not possible because we are limited by the terms of our license and the excavation will significantly affect the environment of the surrounding areas. The cost of excavating the landfill and other work will cost several million pounds, and the guarantee that the disk is found and will work , no “, – the representative of the administration explained the refusal to carry out excavations.

90,000 Recalling the extraordinary story of James Hunt 25 years after his death – At top speed – Blogs

Original article in English on the McLaren website under Heritage – Drivers – James Hunt – Article: A last heartbreaking flourish. Sorry, there is no way to post a direct link at this time, I apologize for the inconvenience.

It is hard to believe that it has been a quarter of a century since the unexpected and premature death of James Hunt.

If anyone can be called a titan from the world of Formula 1, so James: he survived in the 70s, in the most dangerous era in auto racing, weathered the difficult decade of the 80s, found love and began to live a modest and sober life until he died of a heart attack at the age of 45 years on June 15, 1993.

Here we recall James’ life after the races, his work as a commentator, his fall into the abyss of alcohol and drugs, and his last heyday. Here are excerpts from Maurice Hamilton’s beautifully written book on James Hunt.

“I never felt like I wanted to race again,” admitted James Hunt a year after the end of his short but tumultuous career in Formula 1. It was a typical revelation from a man who was known for not turning back. Never.

“As I said, I finished to save myself. I could do this because I was financially secure and I wanted to continue living without putting myself in danger. If racing were safe, I would never end my career.I would be happy. But I do not want to speculate on this topic, because there is still a temptation to return. ”

After James retired, he moved permanently to England. He renovated a cottage house in London’s Baron’s Court and also bought a large estate, including a working farm, in Buckinghamshire. He continued to do advertising work for Marlboro, Texaco and Olympus and played golf so much that he quickly squandered all his money.

    Voice of the (new) generation.

Hunt also accomplished what would have made him recognizable in the eyes of a generation that had not seen him racing. He took over the role of a correspondent for the BBC. Jonathan Martin was adept at identifying Hunt’s ability to interact with a person during interviews, but the decision of the head of the channel’s sports department was not immediately taken by their main experienced regular commentator.

“I have commented on the races alone up to that point,” says Murray Walker. “When Jonathan Martin called me and said that there were now two commentators on the job, one of whom is James Hunt, my first reaction was furious.I thought: What the hell does he know about commentators? He’s a racer. Anyway, I don’t like James Hunt.

I had to be objective and try to understand where difficulties might arise when working together. I could pass for his father. My outlook on life was diametrically opposed to his. I was a collected, direct, strict guy, and next to me was a drinker, a smoking lover of women and drugs, who was associated with rudeness and rebelliousness. I must admit that I was very worried.

The first time we commented on the Monaco Grand Prix together was in 1980. Exactly one year after his resignation. And then there were no commentary booths. We were sitting in the open air, opposite the exit from the pit lane. We had folding chairs with a stand and one TV. There was only Armco barrier between us and the track. Jonathan Martin shouted loudly in my ear, and he, in turn, was drowned out by the roar of cars just a few meters from us.

James showed up shortly before the start of the race, in ankle-length cropped jeans, no shoes, a T-shirt and a bottle of rose in hand.Half a bottle – the other he had already drunk. He sat down on a chair next to me, leaned the cast on my knee, and so we worked. As far as I remember, everything went smoothly. James was completely adequate. But I thought that we would have a difficult relationship in terms of commentary work. ”

Gypsum was the result of an incident during a mountain vacation in Verbier, Switzerland. James was a guest of the Marlboro-sponsored team of acrobatic skiers. They had a fun “lunch” together, and then, without much hesitation, he joined the skiers on the slope. The result is a torn ligament in the left knee, an injury that requires complex surgery and lengthy recovery.

A snowball of frustration with lack of movement and sleep was the beginning of the end of the relationship between James and Jane Berbeck. The relationship that they tried to build for a long time, then it could even come to a wedding. And this, in turn, contributed to James’s passion for alcohol and smoking, which influenced their lives. As well as Hunt’s habit of throwing money around.By the end of 1981, they parted as good friends, as much as possible in their circumstances.

James bought a five-bedroom home in Wimbledon. The stately 1930s building was slightly shabby on the outside; perfect for James, just like the big garden. The home was conveniently located for his busy schedule of “activities”, but his prized bachelorhood suddenly ended in September 1982.

While on holiday in Spain, James met Sarah Lomax at a beach party.Sarah, an Englishwoman working for an interior decorating firm in Washington, was instantly amazed. The feeling was mutual. When they weren’t dating in the UK, James would travel to Washington. By early 1983, Sarah was living in a house in Wimbledon. By the end of December of that year, they were married in Sarah’s hometown, Wiltshire. The blossoming of the relationship was indeed as fast as it was stellar.

    Looking for new talents.

However, Hunt did more than just work as a commentator. He also mentored the young Swedish driver Thomas Kaiser. This made James attend the Formula 3000 races on the free weekend between Formula 1 races.

This aspect of Hunt’s character did not escape the attention of John Hogan of Marlboro: “When he retired, we wanted to keep him as a brand ambassador. By that, I mean a person who sticks to the script, doesn’t go into creativity. In an effort to attract young riders, we noticed that James had an amazing ability to understand what was happening on the track, which actually rarely happens. Many people think they can, but they are not. James understood what was happening, so he was a good commentator. He could see which young riders were really good, who could get into F1, who were real talent.

When he did this, he became a kind of mentor. And again, most riders will not be able to do this. They understand what is happening, but they cannot convey it to the young rider.

James was not a nurse for them. He would just walk up to them, or walk into the garage, or sit next to the car and say, You know, you shouldn’t do that.It would be better if you did it like this. And they listened to him and, if they were smart enough, took into account what was said. Eddie Irvine is one example. ”

In the photo – with young Alan McNish

    Lost weekend in Dijon …

Irvine agrees: “I first met James when he was a consultant at Marlboro. I saw him race, of course. I was a huge fan of him. I liked his approach. James was on his mind. When I was invited to test in Formula 3 in 1988, I wanted to try Formula Ford 2000 first. But I was offered Formula 3, and James and everyone else said that I should accept the offer and go straight to F3, which was a giant step for me. But I did it, had a good season and it led to the transition to Formula 3000 the next year. I was advised to come to the last F3000 race in Dijon, France, to see what it is all about. I didn’t learn too much then because of the foolishness of my mentor, James Hunt.

I met him at Heathrow Airport in London. The first thing he did was go to Duty Free and bought a bottle of vodka. When we landed in Paris, he left to meet two girls at the train station. As it turned out, the TGV trains were canceled due to the strike, and we had to take a slow train with naval conscripts heading to Marseille. It took us about five hours to get to Dijon – by that time there was no more vodka left …

We crawled through the hotel doors. Fortunately, it was getting late and people were by their numbers. We got to James’ suite, where he turned on Beethoven to the full power of his portable audio recorder, which he always carried with him. James ignored the knocks on the door and walls until someone from the front desk came in and said we needed to stop because it was 3am. And James at this time had to tell me about racing wisdom …

I went down for breakfast in the morning and met Walker Welder, who was driving for the F3000 team, which was supported by Marlboro.Volcker said: Last night was terrible. I didn’t sleep at all. The people in the room next door were having fun all night. I had to call the respawn to stop it.

Oh, Volcker, this is awful – I said then. He found out who those assholes were only after 4 years. We were racing in Japan and one day I told him. His reaction was memorable. He said: I knew it! Marlboro wanted to get rid of me! They sent you at night so that I could not get enough sleep before the race. He really believed in it and did not understand that it was the result of a five-hour trip and a bottle of vodka. No more no less.

But that doesn’t show what kind of mentor James was. He really understood what was going on between the car and the rider, and he could talk about that, as well as other things about driving the car. He was attentive to me, and he was involved in my relationship with Marlboro when I came to Formula 1. “

    James and his demons.

During the trip to Dijon, neither Irvine nor the rest of the auto racing world knew what thoughts were beginning to wander through Hunt’s head.Having struggled with his marriage – through no fault of Sarah – and life in general, Hunt was at the beginning of a downward spiral that gradually led to depression. Hunt’s wide circle of acquaintances would have been hard to believe, and they had no idea that James was becoming more and more introverted, spending more and more time with his inner demons. These dark periods of despair have led to alcohol and marijuana, which will be temporary. He was losing himself, which only intensified his inner torment. In October 1988, James and Sarah began to live separately.A little over a year later, they divorced. Hunt hit rock bottom.

In an effort to do something, he tried to turn to various doctors and psychologists. The desperate situation was exacerbated by the financial hardships of normal post-divorce litigation and, more importantly, the area’s own £ 200,000 loss from being part of the Lloyd’s Name investment syndicate, which suddenly faced the other side of risk.

While pinned to the wall, Hunt began to fight as best he could.Just like when he had a completely different, but no less important crisis for him, which struck him before the final three races of an intense 1976 season. He bought the bike as part of an effort to get back in shape, which also included trying to quit cigarettes (taking 20 or sometimes more than 30 a day) and cutting back on alcohol. The changes were incredible and noticeable.

In the photo – James Hunt with his son

“At first I had no idea he had such problems,” says John Hogan.“I always thought he was suffering from a hangover, when in fact he was depressed. It was incredible when you thought about what he was or how he seemed. As he got older, things got worse. It used to feel like if he was joking it was just a joke, but as he got older, you could see that there was something else behind it. He was under tremendous pressure for various reasons, especially financial. Then he was able to turn everything around using only willpower. It was amazing to see it from the outside, but not when you knew James and what he was capable of.He had tremendous strength of character and that’s when it really paid off. He took control of everything: drink, drugs, cigarettes, even his contacts with women. He was incredibly focused, which shows how bad things were in the beginning. ”

“Attack” has always been a favorite word in Hunt’s vocabulary, and he used it to the fullest when he started working to become a media representative. Writing columns for British national newspapers and, of course, continuing to be a commentator, James became a proud member of motorsport journalism. The journalists who insulted him as a driver began to enjoy his company as their own when he stopped racing. Because it was him: he had money problems, enjoyed gossip, appreciated free food – and was in love with sports.

As usual, he did not hide his criticism of the riders or events that, in his opinion, were not up to par. For riders wishing to listen to him, he provided helpful and informative feedback. Among them was Ayrton Senna. Paradoxically, he developed respect for Hunt after James criticized the Brazilian for his aerobatics, later realized that his judgment was wrong, sought Senna to tell him about it, and then apologized on the air.It was Hunt’s ability to be completely honest, a human trait that Senna highly valued.

James has made a lot of his recovery thanks to his own efforts, but he should also thank the hamburgers for that. Or, to be precise, the attractive blonde who served him at a Wimbledon restaurant. Helen Dyson worked at Hamburger Heaven on weekends to secure funding for her visual arts studies at Middlesex Polytechnic. She was 18 years younger than him and knew nothing about him, except that he seemed like a charming, handsome man. Helen accepted the invitation to the first date. Their relationship blossomed quickly, although it was more than two years before she moved into the house where Hunt set up a studio for Helen to practice her artistry. Given the state he was in shortly before, James was never happier as his life continued to get better.

On October 4, 1992, Danny Hulme died of a heart attack while driving a BMW M3 during the Bathurst 1000 in Australia. It was five months before a memorial service for the 1967 world champion could be organized. It took place on March 24 at Chelsea Old Church. James, dressed in a tracksuit, arrived on a bicycle with a wicker basket in front. He pulled a crumpled shirt and suit out of the basket and changed on the sidewalk. When the service ended, he did the same in reverse order. Despite the fact that the racing world was busy with several Grand Prix in Europe in the next few weeks, the image of James, who rode his bike on Old Church Street, remained in the memory of many.

“It’s no secret that the BBC was covering races outside of Europe from a studio in London,” says Walker. “And the people were sure that we were on the track. We couldn’t say we weren’t there, because if we weren’t there, how could we comment on this race? But at the same time, we could not say that we were there, because that would be a lie. So we said things like, “I can’t see the track from my commentary position,” which was perfectly true because we were 6,000 miles from the track.

We once commented on the South African Grand Prix, and James always had his own opinion on everything, even apartheid in South Africa. Around the middle of the race, he began to grumble about apartheid, which had nothing to do with the race and was unlikely to improve relations between the UK and South Africa. Mark Wilkin, our producer, wrote on a piece of paper “Talk about the race!” and put it in front of us. James looked at this piece of paper and said, “Well, anyway, thank God we’re not there.”

As usual, we covered the 1993 Canadian Grand Prix from London. James was driving from Wimbledon to Shepherd’s Bush. He rode his bike everywhere. He was in great shape because he stopped drinking, stopped smoking, he went back to sports. We commented on the race and everything went great. James then called Gerald Donaldson, who owned his newspaper column. Everything was arranged, we each went our own way, James cycled five or six miles back to Wimbledon, and I went home to Hampshire.

On Tuesday morning (June 15, 1993), my wife Elizabeth called me. She said, “Get ready. I have a bad news”. At the time, my mom was 96 years old and I thought it was her. “No,” she said. “James is dead.” I said, “Which James?” When she said that James Hunt, I just could not believe it and said something stupid – as often happens in such cases: “But I was with him on Sunday, and he was fine.” It was a really terrible shock – not only for me, of course, but for millions of people around the world. He was only 45 years old. ”

James died of a severe heart attack early in the morning. He played snooker at home with a friend, then went to rest, complaining of illness. He never made it to bed. Earlier in the evening, he called Helen, who was on a short vacation with a friend in Greece. James proposed to her. Helen agreed. And now this joy was suddenly replaced by devastation and grief for many of his friends and associates.

Innes Island left his address during a memorial service for Halm a few months ago.The former driver of an unshakable reputation and president of the British Racing Club, Island, nevertheless, was horrified several times by some of Hunt’s antics, and expressed it to him in a single syllable. Nevertheless, he came to the funeral to pay his respects. After retiring from racing, Island also became a good journalist. His article on Hunt described the feelings of many people who sympathized with James in one way or another.

“Often, his outrageous,” wrote Island, “and sometimes even wild behavior hid the fact that he was a warm, friendly person who understood everything and possessed great intelligence.More recently, the magnitude of his care and kindness has become apparent, despite the amount of love and attention he showed to his two sons. He was always something of a rebel, he seemed to admire his being on the verge of being accepted by society. I must say, I thought he crossed the line once or twice. Somehow, with his sense of humor, he always managed to cope with it. ”

Island died of cancer in October 1993, less than a month after he recited Rudyard Kipling’s poem “If” at a James Hunt evening.St James’s Church in Piccadilly was selected for the memorial service, which was attended by his parents, family and 600 people for whom James was a significant person. It was a grand ceremony and even a joyous one, with the participation of a trumpet player, two singers and the Wellington College Choir.

The composition Zadok-priest was included in this unusual service. And those who were at the service, who did not know about it, were quite surprised, because the choir, located above and behind, suddenly began performing this composition immediately after the more solemn and prolonged organ music.

Written by Handel for the coronation of King George II in 1927, this composition was a favorite of James. The performance of this cheerful composition at such a sad event seemed quite decent.
