Moda vera gelato: 4 X 50g – Moda Vera Gelato 4ply Knitting Crochet Cotton Blend Yarn Brights #22 for sale online

Mamma That Makes: Ariel Cardi

This weeks pattern comes as a request from the CCP crafters group. It is a very small and dainty jacket/cardi for 16-18 weeks. I will have a hat and booties up to match it in the future. I know bubba’s of this size more often then not don’t wear clothing and instead use wraps/cocoons ect, but it is incredibly important that there IS clothing options available for those who do need them, and as it stands now, there is such a lack of items to fit the 16-20 week range. Hopefully I can bridge that gap some with a few items for people to make and donate.

Novelty Yarn

What types of novelty yarns are there? Boucle, or looped, yarns are created by loosely looping the second yarn around a first yarn, and thereby creating a bumpy effect.

Usually made up of 3 strands of yarn wrapped together, this yarn must be handled carefully as it is easy to split. Chenille is the soft, fuzzy yarn that resembles pipe cleaners. It can be created by first creating a fabric, which is then cut into very narrow strips resembling yarn, or by trimming loosely attached fibres to create the fuzzy appearance.

Eyelash yarn is made from a polyester fibre with a furry texture resembling eyelashes. It is not too dissimilar to fur yarn and produces a soft and hairy appearance.Skip to main content.

It is often said that blended yarns offer the best qualities of each yarn to make a superior product.

It may be that you prefer to use single yarns, such as wool, cotton or acrylic, but if you are tempted to try the blended yarns, here is some information on the most popular cotton blend yarns:.

Because of the natural properties of cotton, which make it soft, strong and great at wicking away moisture from the skin, it lends itself well to items such as baby clothes and blankets, summer garments and fashion accessories.

The more cotton is included in your blend, the more you will need to take care that the item does not get wet, as cotton can stretch and lose its shape when that happens.

That is why cotton blends are often preferred to pure cotton. Most yarn labels will provide laundry instructions, so it is always wise to keep a band from your yarn to include with a finished product if you are giving it as a gift!

Most cotton blends can be washed by hand or on a gentle setting in the machine, but it is not recommended to tumble dry cotton blend yarns unless the label states that it is OK. Drying your garment or item flat and gently reshaping it when damp will increase the lifespan.

“Truffle ice cream is a perversion” – Weekend – Kommersant

Almost two centuries ago Tranquil Yar brought the first truffle to Russia from France. Today, a teacher from the Paul Bocuse School, Chef Cyril Bosviel , came to Yar with the same educational mission.

There are many types of black truffle, which one is considered the most exquisite?

The best black truffle is the one from France, from Perigord, where, by the way, I come from. Our season is in winter, that is, now they collect the last most delicious truffles there. You can search in summer, but winter is a million times tastier. For searching, as you probably know, they use dogs and pigs. The problem with pigs is that they always try to eat the truffle they find. Therefore, the best hunter is a dog. Ten years ago, I went for truffles with my friend, he had an old dog Vicki, we came to a place where many oak trees grew – after all, truffles mostly grow around them, – a friend gave a command to the dog, and in 10 minutes we had about 20 truffles! And my grandfather was looking for truffles on his own, without any help, – he sees that midges are circling over a hole in the ground, which means there is a truffle – he attracts them with his smell. In general, in Périgord everything is connected with truffles. Great chefs like Ducas, Bocuse and Robuchon use Perigord truffles. There is also a truffle market there, although now the sale is limited due to the fact that the number of mushrooms is decreasing. Independent consultants walk around the bazaar and evaluate truffles. Depending on the quality, a kilogram of black truffles can cost from u800 to u1200. A good ripe mushroom has a strong and pleasant smell. It looks very bumpy and black-blackish, and the flesh is dark gray or reddish-black with light veins.Black truffles from France are sold all over the world, so you don’t have to go to Périgord for it.

Since you are from Périgord, you probably have some family-run traditional truffle dish.

Of course my parents and I are making a truffle omelet. To do this, put the eggs, right in the shell, in a box along with the truffle, and then leave them in the refrigerator for two or three days. Truffle has such a strong aroma that the eggs have time to soak in it.Then we prepare an omelet from these eggs as usual, and only when it is almost completely ready, we take a pinch of that very grated mushroom and sprinkle it. Then we turn the omelet over, it comes to full readiness, and can be served, garnished with lettuce leaves. I personally recommend drinking red wine. Well, you can still have very good Burgundy white. In general, there is a tendency in European cuisine – I really like it – to combine simple products with very sophisticated ones. For example, I love to cook truffle potatoes. For the preparation of potatoes in my homeland, they do not use butter, but duck fat. While it’s roasting, I slowly add finely chopped parsley and garlic to the pan, and then, at the very end, sprinkle with fragrant grated truffle. It’s so delicious! This dish is called “Saladez potatoes”. In general, we, the French, call potatoes a truffle for the poor, so it turns out funny – the collision of two layers on one plate. I also cook with the so-called “old” vegetables, before they were used only for feed to pigs, and now – in haute cuisine: artichokes, turnips, Jerusalem artichoke. But with vegetables like eggplant and paprika, I wouldn’t cook.

What else should you not combine this mushroom with?

In no case should you combine truffles with products that are equally strong in taste and smell. I think if you try a dish with black caviar, for example, and with truffles, you will not remember what you ate at all – all the tastes will smear, mix, and the specificity will be lost. I would not cook together truffles and strong-smelling mushrooms, such as shiitake, morels, porcini – they all have their own special, independent taste that will prevent you from enjoying the truffle. For the same reason, you shouldn’t cook spiced truffles – their tastes will compete, which is bad. Salt and pepper can of course be used.

Would a truffle go with meat?

I love how the truffle goes well with the meat. For example, the classic “Rossini’s Tornado”: we take a juicy piece of beef, already well fried, on top we have foie gras, finish with a Perigord sauce made from port wine and truffles. Another recipe: make small cuts in a fresh piece of meat and stuff it with truffle, and then fry it.Chicken can also be made with truffle. I choose the fattest bird so that there is a lot of juice. I stuff it under the skin with truffles, add salt and pepper. You can cook either on the grill or in a pan. The chicken will give an incredibly flavorful juice that will saturate the side dish – homemade fried potatoes or mashed potatoes. With the addition of truffles, sauces for salads are also made: they take balsamic vinegar for the color of beetroot, add olive oil infused with truffles – the sauce is ready.

Experiments are in vogue now, so they probably make desserts from black truffles?

I’ll make a reservation right away: I’m not an expert in this.A pastry chef is a completely different profession, they have different rules and laws than ours. Even all famous chefs like Paul Bocuse have their own pastry chefs. However, I would still venture to note that for me a dessert made of black truffles is a bad idea. I tried truffle, parmesan and foie gras ice cream with a chef in Paris. In my opinion, this is already a perversion. I try to adhere to these principles in the kitchen: respect the product, guests and be honest. Therefore, I would never make ice cream from truffles or, there, from black caviar.

Dark Chocolate Sorbet

Gelupo, a little gelateria, makes the best Italian ice cream in London.Red orange sorbet and gelato panettone have achieved cult status, provoking queues at the door during peak season. Luckily for Londoners, Gelupo delivers their favorite ice cream straight home. And for those less fortunate, jelateria chef Jacob Kennedy shared an indispensable dark chocolate sorbet recipe that is easy to recreate at home.

When asked why he serves chocolate sorbet instead of milk ice cream, Jacob replies: “First, it’s just better – the taste is cleaner and richer.Secondly, I love bitter dark chocolate, and milk kills the taste like nothing else. Thirdly, we use so much chocolate in it that there is simply no room for milk … ”

Ingredients:

50 g of cocoa powder;

200 g sugar;

500 ml of water;

50 g glucose syrup or light liquid honey;

250 g dark chocolate (70-75%), chopped into pieces.

Preparation:

  • Mix cocoa and sugar.Add water slowly and stir until smooth (don’t worry if lumps appear – they will break up). Then add syrup or honey.
  • Bring the resulting mixture to a boil. When it comes to a high boil, remove from heat and add dark chocolate. Stir until smooth.
  • Cool the mixture to room temperature. If you want a smooth and tender sorbet, then now is the time to whip it up with a blender.
  • If your ice cream maker is not strong enough, chill the sorbet mix additionally in the refrigerator. Then pour the chilled chocolate sorbet base into an ice cream maker and beat until solid. Then transfer the sorbet to a plastic container and place in the freezer for 30 minutes to harden the sorbet before serving.

Important note! Once placed in the freezer, the sorbet can be eaten right there for several hours before it becomes too hard to scoop easily and enjoy its silky texture.Ice cream that is too hard (and, accordingly, too cold) should be slightly softened by placing the ice cream container in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes, so that it can be conveniently served later.

Ice cream made in Italy: yesterday, today, tomorrow

A pompous title for an essay about simple ice cream, you probably thought – and you were wrong! Because today we will talk about a very unusual and even healthy ice cream – light, anti-age & bio, which contains an order of magnitude less carbohydrates, is made on the basis of water, not milk, and from ingredients that have not undergone heat treatment. And you can try this ice cream right now – on your next vacation – in Italy, and I will just tell you the names and passwords 🙂

https://instagram.com/p/B0kvqCao5mW

And I will even share two recipes for homemade ice cream in Italian!

Well, we were convinced that the cult film of the golden age of Italian cinema and its intriguing title is very useful here!

So!

YESTERDAY

The first “ice cream” was eaten by a Neanderthal.Well, okay, okay, just kidding: it was just that the paleoanthropes already knew that food does not spoil so quickly in ice.

And now the Arabs have presented the world with sorbetto, the prototype of modern ice cream: since the 12th century they knew the secret of mixing ice with … salt to better preserve the taste. And in the 17th century, sorbetto officially conquers all of Europe.

The first ice cream, as we now imagine it, was served to the table of King Charles I. The ice cream was made from cream, fruits and spices; there were no eggs in it – but it was full of pieces of crushed ice.Later, chefs will learn to add eggs and ice cream to give the mixture a delicate creamy texture.

Be that as it may, almost all historians versed in cooking are inclined to believe that the first ice cream was prepared in Italy, but the French introduced this exotic dessert into fashion and they also made it popular throughout Europe.

TODAY

Today, ice cream is not made at home only by the lazy.

I once shared with you my Italian mother-in-law’s ice cream recipe – and for this ice cream you don’t even need an ice cream maker!

And this time – catch the recipe for ice cream with lime and ginger!

So, you will need:

750 ml whole milk
150 ml fresh cream (not whipped)
180 g cane sugar
5 g carob flour
(you can use any other thickener, for example corn starch )
5 cm fresh ginger root
30 g grated lime zest
240 ml lime juice
150 g granulated sugar

Recipe itself:

1.In a saucepan, stir together the milk, sugar, 2/3 of the grated lime zest and the pieces of chopped ginger root. Bring to a boil and simmer, stirring constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved.

2. Remove from heat, transfer mixture to a bowl and continue to mix vigorously in a “cold” water bath (that is, the bowl is in a container filled with ice and cold water).

3. Add thickener and fresh (not whipped) cream to thicken the mixture. Stir. Leave in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.

4. Strain through a strainer and remove the ginger pieces aside, chop the rest with a blender. Add lime juice.

5. Transfer the mixture to an ice cream maker and start the timer for 40 minutes. Or place it in the freezer for a couple of hours.

6. Serve, garnish with the remaining lime zest and fresh green mint leaves.

And may the Italian summer be with you!

TOMORROW

Real Italian ice cream has become not only a fashionable Instagram object, but also… the most real superfood!

It all started in Rimini, where ice cream was presented last January with … probiotics and orange and aloe vera flavors .

In general, any fruit sorbet based on fresh fruits and without milk is already a healthy vitamin cocktail. But various fashionable additives – yogurt made from goat’s milk, almonds, pomegranate – are useful in their own way: they give the body not only taste pleasure, but also the necessary calcium, minerals and even anti-inflammatory substances.

If you need to cheer up, look for ice cream with ginger, hot pepper or cinnamon. Mango in combination with turmeric, black pepper and mint will help to rejuvenate.

Italian ice cream makers seem to have gotten into the taste and began to juggle flavors in all: from goji berries to seeds, from essential oils to herbs and spices …

Roman chain Grezzo Raw Chocolate (look for their ice cream parlors also in Milan and Turin) surprises with unusual combinations of flavors: “energy” (vitalità, with raw chocolate and poppy root, a Peruvian tuber, known by the ancient Incas for its energetic properties), “longevity” (longevita, with mango and turmeric) and “anti- age “(anti-aging, from goji berries and raw cocoa beans).

In addition to ice cream, there is also a raw-vegan-gluten & lactose free confectionery.

Another healthy ice cream cafe in Milan is located in the very center, right on the tourist trails: Gelato Libre , via Carducci 12. Here ice cream is made without milk and eggs, based on water from healthy sources and with beet sugar. There are only 8 flavors in the assortment, but which ones: salted caramel, pistachios, hazelnuts, tiramisu, cream … but come and try it yourself! I liked the dark chocolate with rum 🙂

Bon appetit!

history of origin and manufacturing practice

Cure for depression, food of the gods, favorite treat of children, royal dessert, sweet salvation from the heat – all this is about a wonderful dairy product called ice cream. Help yourself! Tasty? While you are devouring a cold miracle, we will initiate you into the “mystery” of the history of the origin of the dish, and in conclusion we will teach you how to cook on your own.

The history of ice cream

Judging by historical sources, ice cream was first prepared in the East. It is known, for example, that when the harvest season came to Ancient Israel during the time of the great King Solomon, people enjoyed drinking fruit juices with ice. Alexander the Great dabbled in this delicacy when he went to conquer hot Asia.

Ice cream appeared in Europe only in the XIV century, and for this we must say thanks to the famous traveler Marco Polo.

In just a couple of centuries (a good speed for the Middle Ages!) Ice cream fell in love with almost all European countries. It is interesting that the same French queen Catherine de Medici, about whose cunning and treachery Alexander Dumas wrote, was an ardent fan of the cold dessert.

During the era of the Sun King at Versailles, ice cream was consumed in significant quantities. It was still made from natural juices, that is, the pleasure was not cheap.

Ice cream would have remained a dessert for the elite, if not for the habit of Americans to make money on literally everything! It was they who first decided that not too wealthy people can treat themselves to ice cream.History has preserved the name of Jacob Frusel from Baltimore, who built the first workshop for the manufacture of sweet cold delicacies in these places. Ice cream factories soon appeared in all major US cities – from New York to Miami.

It is true that the ice miracle was loved by everyone, regardless of class. Even George Washington himself was struck by this passion: he began to make ice cream with his own hands on his famous estate in Mont Vernon.

In Russia, they reacted creatively to ice cream: it was our compatriots who came up with the idea of freezing milk, not juices and water.Ingenious peasants mixed homemade cottage cheese with raisins, sugar and sour cream, cooled the resulting mixture and savored it for health benefits! Well, the nobility loved ice cream all days of the year, because they did not have to cook it, only to treat themselves. For example, Ekaterina Vtoraya and Pavel Tretyi are on the list of ice cream fans.

What is ice cream

According to the method of production, ice cream can be soft or seasoned. Soft-bodied parents are allowed to eat soft ice cream, and seasoned ice cream is allowed only for those who are in good health.Joke!

  • Soft ice cream actually does not cool below minus 5 degrees, and it will not be possible to store it – it must be eaten urgently in large pieces! It tastes amazingly delicate!
  • Another thing is hardened ice cream, which is produced on special industrial equipment at temperatures up to minus 25 degrees. This block of ice can be stored for a whole year. It is impossible to use hardened ice cream for its intended purpose without an ice ax, because it has a fantastic density and hardness.

Calorie content of ice cream

Ladies who care about their waist should understand the fat content of this product. Considering that there are mainly four types of ice cream in our stores, namely: ice cream, creamy, dairy and fruit and berry, there is a choice.

Those who have nothing to lose will like the ice cream with its 15% fat content, and those who follow the figure are better off buying a milk briquette, not a creamy one. True, even in the legendary Soviet childhood, dairy ice cream was tasteless, so maybe it’s better to ignore the frozen skim milk and immediately start with fruit varieties. There is no fat in their composition, but there is a little more sugar than in other types – up to 30%.

The benefits and harms of ice cream

Here’s the news is not the best: more than half of the types of ice cream you buy in stores are not natural at all! In the old days, no one tried to deceive the consumer’s body with artificial substitutes: if ice cream was called creamy, then it contained cream, that is, animal fats, but now this is not at all necessary.

Ice cream now contains a wide variety of substances, for example, the notorious vegetable fats.Despite their innocent name, not all of them are equally useful. Remember that hydrogenated vegetable fats increase cholesterol levels and accelerate the aging process of the arteries.

By the way, we can determine the poor quality of the product with our own senses, if the taste of ice cream seems suspicious to you – do not eat it yourself and do not give it to children!

Ice cream contains food colors that often cause allergic reactions. Many of them are pure chemistry.Fillers can also be of chemical origin. And again we advise – refer to your own feelings: if the taste of ice cream is incredible, delicious, but has a slight chemical aftertaste, then this is clearly not a natural product. Real ice cream made from real milk and with real fruits is inferior in taste to such wonderful products. Alas. Here we have to choose – whether we want to be healthy or we just need to eat.

Ice cream, like everything around us, has contraindications. Therefore, remember: everything is good in moderation. The high percentage of fat in sundae and creamy ice cream will not benefit sufferers diagnosed with coronary heart disease.

Do not give in to the cold temptation and diabetics, because, alas, ice cream contains a lot of sugar. However, they say that a special variety has been invented for diabetics, in which sugar is replaced by another sweet component. Citizens suffering from frequent colds, this type of desserts is also not suitable! By the way, if you eat ice cream very quickly, your head starts to hurt.Say – nonsense? Not at all, this is a fact: a cold dessert, falling into the throat, constricts the vessels that deliver blood to the brain, hence the headache!

Ice cream and celebrities

Ice cream is very popular with famous people all over the world.

Heidi Klum, a fashion model and a beauty, does not hesitate to eat it right on the street, walking with friends, and is not afraid to get better. One cannot help but envy.

Arnold Schwarzenegger also often buys a cold treat – he says that if he overeats sweet (or not sweet), he doubles the volume of sports activities. You can believe it – the actor and the former governor keeps himself in good shape. He won’t be Mr. Universe anymore, but …

Uma Thurman loves pistachio ice cream. In any case, once the paparazzi caught her with a green horn. Maybe she loves other species, but they have not yet been able to prove this.

Not skinny Anfisa Chekhova, a Russian star, admitted that she treats depression with ice cream. And in quantities commensurate with their beauty below the waist: buckets.

Singer Victoria Daineko did not forget to boast of her love for ice cream and her involvement in the classical ballet school at the same time: “Because of the ice cream, I could have been kicked out of the ballet school”!
