Zebra Mildliner Highlighters Review – Are They Overrated?

Zebra Mildliner Review

Wondering if you should get the Mildliners? Check out my independent Zebra Mildliner highlighters review below.

The Zebra Mildliner highlighters are super popular among the bullet journal fans and pretty much any person who loves stationery.

The Mildliner pens come in a range of 25 colors that are pretty unique and they are often consider one of the best highlighter markers available.

But are they really?

That’ is what we are going to find out today.

I got myself all highlighter colors from Zebra and I am going to put them through paper test and compare how they perform against other brands in the market.

Read below for my full review and some insights on the product.

I am in no away affiliate to Zebra mildliners, this is my honest review based on my experience with these products I purchased myself.

The mildliner highlighters from Zebra

What is a Midliner pen?

When I first came across to this brand I had never heard of the word mildliner.

The Mildliner Japan brand innovated with a range of highlighters that come in variety of color tones to give you much more choice than the average bright and fluorescent highlighter colors that were available in the market.

The Midliners are also dual tip pens; they have a broad chisel tip on one end and a bullet fine tip on the other end of the pen. This allows you to not only highlight text but also underline and write notes with the fine tip.

Zebra has more recently also released the Mildliner brush pens. These are available in the same 15 original ink color as the highlighters.

Where to buy zebra mildliners?

You can buy the Mildliner markers on Amazon like I did but they are also available in several retailers online and in store, such as Target and Staples.

I got my 5 mildliner packs on Amazon for a very reasonable price. If you purchase the sets alone you will eventually pay more per set.

There are also packs with 15 colors (the original colors) if you don’t need to have all 25 colors, and they come for about the same price per pen as the 25-pen set.

 Zebra Mildliner highlighters review

Below I will go through some features that I think are relevant to the common uses of these pen which goes beyond highlighting. Let’s check it out!

The color variety is one of the strongest points about these pens. The Zebra Mildliner full set comes with 25 mild colors in double sided highlighter pens.

The good news though is that you don’t have to acquire all pens at once, you can purchase the smaller sets to try and slowly build the collection.

Here are the 5 available sets. The first 3 sets are the original colors, they then added 2 new Zebra mildliner rare packs to complete the collection.

1. Mildliner Highlighters Pastel

These are actually called fluorescent color set but they are not the bright kind, in fact they are very light pastel. This is possibly the most popular pack because pastel colors are all the trend!

2.
Mildliner Highlighters Cool Colors

My Japanese friend Koko from Fun Kawaii helped me translate these Japanese names. She said that Shibu usually means ‘bitter’ so that is why this is generally called cool color set.

3. Mildliners Warm Colors

Nagomi translates from Japanese as comforting.

4. Mildliners Bright Colors

Hareyaka translates as ‘cheerful’ from Japanese, and cheerful these colors are!

5. Friendly Bright Colors

And this is the final friendly color set.

If you think the bright highlighter colors are overrated then these pens will bring nicer fresher tones to your collection.

However, the mildliners are not the only pastel highlighters around: Stabilo has a very popular set, so does Bic, Faber-Castell, Pilot Frixion, Staedtler many less famous brands too.

However, none of them have such high range of mild colors as Zebra has. So as far as color variety goes, the mildliner zebra pens are on top of the list.

To test for ghosting and bleeding is super important because most of us use these pens to highlight text or decorate while bullet journaling

.

While some brands suggest that for best results you should use the pens on tracing paper or premium printing paper, like the Tombow Dual Brush pens, it really doesn’t make sense to test these pens on fancy paper as mostly we will use them in normal copy paper.

Normal copy paper rarely has a high paper and fiber density to avoid ghosting and bleeding completely. The good news is that by being water based these pens hold a chance with most common papers. Let’s see how they perform on my notebook.

I have tested these pens on my Flying Tiger notebook, which is an inexpensive journal with rather thin pages.

To see how mildliner performs regarding bleeding and ghosting I compared them with variety of highlighters and pens. Here is the list:

  1. Mildliner pen
  2. Stabilo boss
  3. Sharpie highlighter
  4. Bic grip highlighter
  5. Staedtler highlighter
  6. Staples Hype highlighter
  7. Maped (a highlighter I got locally in my town)
  8. A brand-less pastel highlighter
  9. A crayola super tip
  10. A Tombow dual pen

As you can see from the image there is slight ink ghost in the other side of the paper, and a tiny little bit of bleeding from the beginning and end of the stroke where the saturates the paper a little more.

I also tested the pens on normal printing paper, in case you are highlighting text for school, and the results were the same; some ink colors, especially the darker mildliner shades, showed a bleeding on the end and start of the stroke.

Note that none of the other highlighters had that problem, though!

On my thicker notebooks I saw no signs of bleeding, even when I layered ink with a few strokes (which you are not supposed to do).

So, this only confirms the opinion that ink bleeding should always be analyzed as a combination of paper and pen. It is impossible to look only at the pen and decide that it is non-bleeding. My thought is that by using the mildliner zebra pen on normal paper you would see very minimum ghosting and bleeding in a worse case scenario.

Saturation occurs when you add one (or more) stroke(s) on top of another stroke or when 2 strokes of ink overlap on the paper.

Because the chisel of the Mildliners are particularly small compared to other highlighter pens it is likely that you will experience some saturation when trying to highlight or decorate something.

The saturation of the mildliners leave a trace where you can clearly see that

two (or more) strokes have overlapped. While many people don’t like the aesthetics of it what worries me is fact that mildliners could bleed on the other side of the paper.

I am not particularly impressed at how the mildliners perform here in this case. Even totally inexpensive pens such as crayolas look so much better. The best ones here seem to be for me the Sharpie highlighter and the Staples Hype highlighter followed by Stabilo boss.

This is though something that can happen depending on the color of pen used.

I have performed 2 tests. The first one is related to how mildliners behave when highlighting a variety of writing pens that bullet journalists use often!

In theory this test should be easy as all these writing pens are supposed to be water-proof, light proof and what have you (apart from the brand-less black gel pen I found on my husband’s desk). But the results were inconsistent with that. Have a look below. I tested how the Mildliners smudged the following pens:

  1. Staedtler Pigment Liner 0.3
  2. Sakura Pigma Micron 0.3
  3. Pentel Pointliner 0.3
  4. Faber-Castell Pitt Artist S
  5. Uni-pin Fine Line 0.3
  6. Black gel pen
  7. Black Uniball Signo TSI (erasable pen)
  8. Inexpensive Staedtler Stick 430M ballpoint pen

I highlighted each word after 10 seconds. The mildliners smudged ALL of these pens to some degree (even though it is hard to see on the image) except for the cheapest ballpoint Staedtler pen – here there was no smudge!

The worst smudged fineliners were the Pentel and the Faber castell ones. The gel pen was terrible but that was expected as a gel pen takes a lot longer to dry compared to fineliners.

In the second test I compared mildliners with other highlighters using the same writing pen (the Staedtler Pigment Liner) to see how much smudge they produced.

The results are here:

I tried to darken the image so that you could see the smudging but since we used the best performing pen not a lot of smudging was created. However ALL of these highlighters ended up smudging the Staedtler ink, ever so slightly. It is shown in red.

The only one that didn’t smudge at all was the Staples hype highlighter. So I would say that here the mildliner was average compared to the other highlighters but most of them failed this test!

Mildliner price is lower or comparable to other high quality brands on the market. Check the pastel range price below:

As you can see their price is very reasonable compared to the competitors, therefore I think the pricing is a pro advantage.

Alternative for mildliners

If you want to use the mildliners just for highlighting bullet journals and littler decoration there are other brands that offer similar products such as Pilot Frixion, Bic, Stalilo, Propus, Muji and a variety of cheap pastel highlighters that you can use.

Zebra Mildliners Rated

In my opinion the mildliners come in a great color variety that can be an asset for bullet journalist and creatives who like to play with colors on the paper. I love the pastel color set especially and think that this one is pretty irreplaceable if I try to compare with other inks I have here.

As a highlighter personally I don’t think these are the best around. I much prefer the Bic grip highlighters or the Stabilo Boss.

The way the ink saturates at the end of every stroke can cause the ink to bleed through paper (so always test your pens first!) so for that reason I also don;t recommend these pens for coloring – you’d be better off with a set of 100 crayola tips!

I personally do not regret this purchase. I have done and will continue to use them on notebook to highlight, underline and decorate small parts of  my pages.

And you? Enjoying the Mildliner Zebra pens? Let me know in comment below.

Zebra Mildliner Twin Tip Pastel Highlighter

Zebra’s Mildliner is not just somewhat gentler on the eye than your usual highlighter, it’s got twin tips too! The colours are pastel but still make words or passages stand out, just as with normal highlighters. This makes them ideal for use in pursuits such as scrapbooking and bullet journalling, as the effect is far more subtle.

The twin tips lend more flexibility as well. One is what you’d expect: a chisel tip approximately 3mm wide, perfect for marking, and the other is a finer bullet tip, which writes an approximate 1mm line and is great for underlining.

Water-based ink that dries quickly.

Pastel Highlighter Swatch and Review

Pastel colored highlighters – 11 brands, 62 pens, 1 clear winner.  This is going to be the prettiest and most colorful fight to the death you’ve ever witnessed on the Internet.

There’s a video that goes along with this pastel highlighter review write-up. If you’re interested in seeing each of these highlighters swatched and listen to my silly commentary, head over to the YouTube video for the Pastel Highlighter Showdown & Review.

There is a craze in the bullet journal, planner, study and note-taking communities about pastel markers and highlighters. In fact, it seems that everyone is talking about the Zebra Mildliners and we’re all jumping on the bandwagon to buy all four collections so we can make our journals beautiful and filled with every color of the rainbow. I admit it, I caved into peer pressure and bought the Mildliners.  I know. You’re so shocked, right?!

That first purchase and the regret that followed is what started this whole showdown business. But let me back up a moment…

You see, I’m a highlighter type of bullet journaler. I’m a rebel in that I don’t use the bullet journal key that everyone else uses. I make a list and whatever “thing” is at the start of that item on the list, is the thing that it is. It might be a dash, it might be a dot or bullet, it might be an arrow … those symbols are all interchangeable to me. I’ve been making lists for so long that I can’t hope to change now. Then the way I signify that the item on that list is done (done means that I no longer need to think about it, not necessarily that it was complete) I cross that thing off the list in green. Green highlighter has been my go-to for the past few years. Why green? I have no idea, that’s what I’ve been using for years and I’m a creature of habit.  So highlighters definitely are part of my process and in some ways, the highlighter might be even more important to me than the pen I used to write the list in the first place.

The bullet journal I use at my day job to track tasks and projects.

Now, back to the showdown. After that first purchase of Mildliners, and the disappointment that followed, I decided to give another highly recommended brand a try. Disappointed again. And that’s when I got serious. I was determined to figure this out on my own and forget those silly recommendations from people who didn’t have the same level of passion about highlighters that I possess. <sigh> And that brings us to now.  So let’s look at what I bought, tested, critiqued, and eventually chose as my highlighter-of-choice.

DISCLAIMER: This post may contain affiliate links to Amazon, however, none of these highlighter reviews are sponsored. This is an unbiased, unpaid, unsponsored, no-BS review of these highlighters. Nobody gave me pens for free. Nobody paid me. Nobody promised me rainbows or butterflies to write nice things about them. Everything I write is my honest personal opinion.

Pastel Highlighter Review

Here is an alphabetical list of the highlighters I tested. These specific brands were either recommended in the bullet journal community or were marketed/sold as “pastel” or “soft” highlighters. I purchased them specifically because they were supposed to be a softer, lighter, more muted version of the standard bright or neon highlighters of yore. In the next section, I’ll test out some non-pastel options so we can compare. (If you want to jump to a specific pen review, just click the link below.)

Daiso Pastel Marking Pen

These highlighters have the same look and feel as the Zebra Mildliners, but they only have a single chisel tip. My first impression of writing with these is that the ink is “dry” — not dried out, but rather they are not wet. They don’t bleed or ghost through standard copy paper (20lb) and don’t have that telltale glob of ink where you lift the pen. The color is definitely pastel but the green is almost exactly the same shade of the blue. There is no purple in this pack. The price on these is about $1.10 per pen in the pack. Buy Daiso Pastel Marking Pen on Amazon.

Frixon Light Pastel Erasable Highlighter

Who doesn’t need an erasable highlighter? I sort of love that feature about these pens. Someone pointed out that these have a “chalky” appearance, and now every time I look at the highlighted word with these pens, I see it too. It’s like the black ink of the word it’s highlighting is suddenly a little bit more gray than black. I don’t mind it. In fact, I like it a lot. I just wish the green was closer to a real green color. There’s no orange in this pack but the color options here are very good. The price for these is about $1.54 per pen in the pack. Buy Frixon Light Pastel Erasable Highlighters on Amazon.

Iconic Two-Way Pastel Pen

I sort of love the size and shape of these pens. The barrel is skinny and the pen seems a bit longer than other pens – which has a good feel in my hand. I like the ink in these – slightly more “juicy” than the previous two options so I don’t worry too much about them drying out too quickly. The green is definitely a bright lime verdant color and the blue is closer to a turquoise shade. Overall I like these highlighters. Buy Iconic Two-Way Pastel Pen on Amazon.

KitMit

Candy “Check Liner” Highlighter

I keep calling these Kit Kat Candy …. ugh! It’s actually KitMit Candy Check Liners – I need to get my mind off chocolate and on to highlighters. These are fat pens all around. Not only are the pens themselves big but the chisel tip is also wide. The ink is wet and ghosts through the page a bit (I’m using 20lbs printer paper) and the shade of each marker is definitely not pastel. Take a look at the video to see the issue I had with the blue pen in this pack – the top part of the chisel seemed to dry out while the bottom part remained wet. I’ve since tried to “juice up” the full tip again but nothing I tried would work fully, although in the photo above you can see that it’s almost back to normal. For all the but blue pen, these are good highlighters for normal, bright color options, not pastel, though. Buy KitMit Candy Check Liner on Amazon.

Monami Essenti Liner Soft Pastel

The first thing I noticed about these is how pretty they are. I love the translucent cap that makes everything a bit sparkly. And the colors are definitely pastel and soft, so big bonus there! The green isn’t quite green enough for me, but that seems to be a trend with these highlighters, huh? The ink is somewhat dry but not so dry that I think it’s going to dry out… but more like it’s just not overly wet and will bleed through the page. Overall I really like these pens and they are among my favorites. Great choice!  Buy Monami Essenti Soft Liner on Amazon.

Muji Twin Tip Highlighter

Everyone loves Muji, so I had to give them a try too. Clear view chisel tip is always a great feature for me so I can see the words that I’m highlighting. The ink is wet and they feel great when I’m using them. These aren’t really pastel at all – definitely more bright. I like that these are twin tips and you get a second pen for the cheap price and the pen tip on the other end is nice and bold. If you’re looking for bold, bright colors, these are a good choice but if you want pastel colors, not so much. Buy Muji Twin Tip Highlighters on Amazon.

Stabilo Boss Pastel Highlighters

Here’s another highlighter with a big footprint in your pencil case. I wish they were skinnier and took up less space in my planner bag because I really like the color out of these pens and wish I could take them with me more easily. The colors are definitely pastel and have a “dusty and muted” characteristic to them. I wish the pink was more light pink rather than dusty rose, but overall these colors are very good. The chisel tip is wide and the ink flows beautifully. These are a bit pricier than the others but well worth the investment. Buy Stabilo Boss Pastel Highlighters on Amazon.

Zebra Mildliners

This is where it all started for me. They’re good pens but they’re expensive if you buy all the Zebra packs (there are 4 available). The highlighter pack only came with 5 colors, so I pulled the purple out of one of the other packs to test. These are twin tips with a chisel on one end and a bullet tip on the other end. They are medium-juicy and definitely pastel for most of the colors. Buy Zebra Mildliners Highlighters on Amazon.

Standard Highlighter Review

I wanted to test regular old standard highlighters next to these pastel ones. I was mostly just curious to see how the colors stood up and if pastel really was all that much different than the bright highlighters we’ve all been using for years. So let’s take a look how that experiment turned out. Click one of the links below to jump directly to that highlighter review, or just scroll and read it all!

Bic Brite Liners

These are highlighters I already had in my stash and wanted to try them next to the pastel versions. Yes, they’re bright, but actually not as bright as I expected when you see everything side by side. Some of these colors are actually identical to pens that are sold as pastel. Blue and purple are very much in the pastel category and the pink could stand up to some of the other pastel pinks. For a cheap and local option, these pens are good choices. I bought my full set locally at Walmart, but they sell for the same price online. Buy Bic Brite Liners on Amazon.

Sharpie Clear View Highlighter

Sharpie is my current go-to highlighter brand and even though I’ve been testing all these pastel highlighters, I have kept using my Sharpies. I love the clear view tip and the “smear guard” quality of these pens and also how skinny they are so they fit easily into my pencil case. The green is a true green and that’s what I hold all other greens up to for comparison (green is important, ya know!). The colors are not pastel but interestingly they aren’t that far off from the pastel options. I trust the Sharpie brand and love everything they make, so I’m not surprised that I love their highlighters too. Buy Sharpie Clear View Highlighters on Amazon.

Crayola Super Tip Washable Marker

Whenever I see people in Facebook groups asking about pastel highlighters, there’s always those few people who say: “Just get the Crayola Supertips, they’re the same…” and then a whole bunch of people glob onto that comment and agree. So I had to give them a try, of course. I pulled out the “most pastel” version of each color to test and was very disappointed. These are not highlighters at all. They’re markers. Of course, that’s what they’re sold as, but when so many people claim that they’re the same as highlighters, I guess I had some hope that it would work out. But the colors are not translucent at all and are dark over the black ink. In a pinch and for a super cheap price, go ahead and use these, but if you want a true highlighter, don’t fall prey to those recommendations. I found this pack of 100 markers at my local Walmart in the back-to-school section for just $6.67. But they’re available online for about twice the price if you really can’t find them locally. Buy Crayola Supertip Marker 100 Pack on Amazon.

And the winner is…

My Choice for the “Best Pastel Highlighter” Award goes to … wait! There’s not a single clear winner. But of the ones I tested, I’ve currently got three favorite brands. I’m still testing and playing and trying them out and hopefully one day soon, a single winner will emerge. But until that time comes, I’m using all three in different situations and ways. Let me explain.

Three brands rose to the top of the heap! The winners are…

My top three choices are:

I keep the Stabilo at home on my desk because they’re simply too large to carry with me in my small pencil case or journal cover. But I like the look of the muted colors and have them close at hand when I’m updating my bullet journal at home. I like the Frixon Erasable highlighters because they’re erasable (yes, I make plenty of mistakes!) and also because of the “chalkiness” of the colors they give. I like the shade of green in the Frixon line too. The Monami Essenti gives me a nice soft pastel color and the pen itself is pretty with the sparkly cap. I know, I know, I know … that’s such a girly reason to love a pen, but I’m going to embrace it anyway!

Which is your favorite?

You haven’t made it this far into the blog post (and video) if you aren’t passionate about highlighters like I am. So I’m sure you have a favorite – or at least one that you’ve been using more than others lately. Or maybe I completely missed your favorite or one you want someone to try out. Let’s chat! 10 Best Pastel Highlighters Reviewed and Rated in 2021

It is not just about the hype. Many seem to jump on the bandwagon and opt for the best pastel highlighters in place of the conventional vibrant and neon highlighter pens, while the soft and subtle tones enhance readability. When you highlight the texts in your books or journals, you can also elevate your creativity and artistic skills and make note-taking easy-peasy. But which pastel highlighter should you choose?

In this article, I will walk you through my favorite picks of pastel highlighters that I’ve tried on my personal notes and creative projects. To help you find the worthwhile purchase, I’ve also come up with an in-depth buying guide and unbiased product reviews.

Top 10 Pastel Highlighter Reviews

1. Stabilo Boss Original Highlighter

If you fancy pastel colors but with the classic design of Stabilo BOSS to mark your important notes, you shouldn’t miss this set of 6 of the original Stabilo pastel highlighters. While it is all about the timeless classic design, this highlighter ramps it up with the trendy pastel colors that can give off a soft, subtle, and stylish look on your notes.

Because I unknowingly leave the cap off when working on the notes very often, I find the Anti-Dry technology a major plus. You might also find this technology very useful even when you leave it without a cap for 4 hours! It won’t dry out easily. You can still save the ink and keep your highlighters working.

When it comes to the tip, the widths are 2mm and 5mm, thereby making the highlighter versatile in terms of creating lines, defining the thicknesses, and working on texts and wordings of different sizes. Plus, the tip is sturdy and reliable and won’t easily wear out over time. It’s long-lasting.

Moreover, water-based ink is also one of my favorite features of this product, making it safe to use at all times.

On a different note, this highlighter seems to be a bit uncomfortable to hold although it exhibits a unique shape. Fortunately, you can get a hang of it and it’ll do the job to give your marked notes beautiful pastel and muted shades.

Pros

  • Anti-Dry technology ensures the ink won’t easily dry out up to 4 hours
  • Renders soft and subtle colors
  • Features sturdy quality tip that lasts for a long time
  • Formulated with water-based ink for safe use
  • Comes in 2 widths for versatile highlighting
  • Offers a set of 6 colors

Cons

  • The unique shape may sometimes lend an uncomfortable feel and grip

Despite above issues, these highlighters are truly a classic favorite. The pastel colors give off subtle and soft shades that can give your notes a stylish pop of colors. They’re long-lasting and easy to use as well.

2.

JavaPen rainbow pastel Highlighter

Another set of pastel coloured highlighters that can complete your creative arsenal is the JAVAPEN Rainbow Pastel Highlighter set. These 6 playful baby pens keep it sleek and slim so you can hold it with a comfortable grip when you work on your notes.

The pen-style design makes it much easier to write on texts or draw lines with subtle and soft colors. You can even fit it right in the compartment of your bag or let it slip in your pocket!

I also like how it can keep writing notes neat and readable with its quick-drying Smearguard ink that wards off any smears or smudges. This feature is probably very useful when you work on handwritten notes and inkjet printouts.

The bright but mild fluorescent colors render an understated highlighting technique that makes the texts much easier to read. The shades are light and cool in the eyes. The tip, on the other hand, has a width of 4mm which is ideal not only for highlighting texts but also for doodling, drawing, making lines, and a lot more.

Nonetheless, the highlighters do the job and just glide smoothly on the paper. They do not bleed and make an awful mess, making it perfect to use for daily notes in your planner!

The drawback, however, is the inconsistency of colors. They look nice and beautiful but sometimes give off a different streak and shade from what it should be. The cap should also be on at all times to prevent drying; otherwise, the ink may run out.

Pros

  • Features slim and sleek pen-style design for a more comfortable grip
  • Crafted with 4mm tip for seamless highlighting, doodling, and making illustrations
  • Features quick-drying Smearguard ink to prevent smudges and smears
  • Gives off light and soft colors that are cool in the eyes
  • Helps make texts more readable
  • Comes in a set of 6 baby pens

Cons

  • The colors are a bit inconsistent at times

Might easily dry out when left without a cap for a long time

3. Zebra Pen Mildliner, Assorted Colors

Simplify and organize your projects and task lists with the Zebra Pen Mildliner in assorted colors and dual tips. While you can maximize the creativity on your tasks and artistic materials with the variety of subtle pastel colors, you can make good use of its fine and bold tips.

The double ended design is quite a steal. I find it quite versatile and easy with the bullet tip when creating fine writing, consistent lines, and intricate illustrations while the chisel tip is the best for bold highlighting and thick strokes.

I also find it impressive that the ink is water-resistant, which is actually great for keeping the notes and doodles neat and clean. This can prevent any smears or bleeding. And because the colors are mild and soft, you can elevate your creativity and use it for layering and blending.

Truly, these mildliner pastel highlighters are all about clean and minimal design. Plus, they keep it easy and handy with the pocket clip so you can just hang it on your planner or notebook. The barrel cap keeps the highlighters sealed and secured as well.

The downside I noticed with this highlighter is the varying effects of the colors, particularly the orange and yellow shades, which somehow look more neon than subtle and soft pastel shades. However, this may not be a big deal for some users as you can still make use of these colors for highlighting larger or darker texts.

Pros

  • Features double ended tips for bold and fine highlighting and writing
  • Has water-resistant ink to prevent smudging and smears
  • Can be used for layering and blending
  • Stylish pen design for an easy and comfortable grip
  • Comes with pocket clip cap for handy use

Cons

  • Some colors have more neon effect rather than mild and light

Nevertheless, these midliners are versatile with their double ended design. They’re great for highlighting and creating detailed and intricate illustrations with pocket clips.

4. Stabilo Swing Cool Pastel Wallet

If you’re up for another creative set to spruce up your artistic skills and revamp your planner and notes with stylish colors, this Stabilo Swing Cool Pastel highlighters in a set of 6 might be your favorite pick.

Contrary to the typical design of the brand, this one’s crafted with a pen-style look embellished with matte-finish grip zone so it won’t slip when you work with it. I also like the pocket clip along with the cap that makes it quite suitable to keep with a planner or notebook. And because it is slim and compact, you can just slip it into your pocket or in your bag. It is light and easy to hold.

Just like the vast array of highlighters from this trustworthy brand, these pastel colors are formulated with water-based ink and hence, harmless to your health. It also features the Anti-Dry out technology that keeps the ink from drying out even when you forget to put the lid on up to 4 hours!

The pastel colors are pretty, light, and not glaring. They look cool and easy on the eyes, making the notes and texts more readable when you highlight them. The mild and soft tones do not bleed through and just suits well when marking your essays, books, and other important notes.

The tips, on the other hand, exhibit two line widths. One is 4mm which is ideal for highlighting while the other one’s thinner and finer at 1mm which is ideal for underlining and making intricate lines and strokes. I like how you can work with it in a versatile way whether you’re just highlighting or ramping up your creativity.

A slight pitfall I found with this highlighter, however, is its tendency to be too light. For those who want a bit darker tone, you might need to work on it and build more color.

Pros

  • Crafted with the Anti-Dry technology that protects the ink from drying out for up to 4 hours
  • Renders soft and mild pastel colors to make the texts and notes more readable
  • Designed with a matte-finish grip for easy and comfortable handling
  • Has pocket clip caps for portability and compact storage
  • Features two widths for highlighting and underlining

Cons

  • It tends to be too light and may need to build the color up if you prefer darker tones

Despite that, the pastel colors look beautiful and soft in the eyes and are excellent to use for any creative works. They are versatile and work not only as highlighters but as creative art tools to spruce up your craft!

5. PILOT FriXion Light Pastel Collection Erasable Highlighters

If you’re worried about messy corrections and erasures on your work, this Pilot FriXion Light Pastel Collection Erasable Highlighters will do the trick for you. These Japanese highlighters are innovatively crafted with a thermo-sensitive ink formula.

The formula erases the highlight seamlessly and cleanly whether it is dry or not. I find it quite useful, particularly when you don’t want to make messy errors in your books and important documents. You can just re-highlight them any time you want. Basically, you won’t have to worry about making mistakes ever again!

Apart from keeping your paper works, notes, and essays neat and damage-free from any marks, the pastel tones can give your work a stylish revamp with its subtle and light shades. The highlighters write very smoothly and hence, help you stay organized, emphasize points, and make detailed and artistic lists and projects.

The ink has got great pigmentation but not glaring or overpowering. Also, it does not bleed through the paper so it keeps the work neat and much easier to read. Plus, the pen-style design provides a comfortable grip for hassle-free use.

Besides the innovative erasable ink, I also find the chisel tip sturdy and reliable that goes nice and smooth for highlighting. You can also use it to make illustrations, create doodles, define intricate lines and strokes, and however you need to use it for your creative tasks.

The only drawback is it tends to dry out too fast and therefore, needs to be sealed and secured with its cap on at all times. Despite that, the colors lend mild and light pastel colors that work pretty well with highlighting books, journals, or planners as well as sprucing up your aesthetic projects.

Pros

  • Erasable highlighters with its thermo-sensitive ink formula
  • Leaves no marks and damages on your work; erases highlights neatly
  • Offers soft and subtle pastel colors for readability and stylish highlighting
  • Features sturdy chisel tip for smooth highlighting and writing
  • Crafted with a pen-style design for an easy and comfy grip

Cons

  • It may dry out too easily if left without a cap on

Anyhow, these pastel highlighters are a stylish tweak to your conventional highlighter pens. The colors are mild and vibrant but lends a soft pop of pastel colors to your journal or any aesthetic project. Formulated with an erasable ink, you can keep your work neat, clean, and messy-free!

6. TWOHANDS Highlighter 6 Assorted Pastel Colors

You can get your work done with a tad bit of style and color with these 6 assorted pastel colors of TWOHANDS highlighters. The best features I find with this highlighter is the versatility from its two-line widths.

You can make use of the 1mm width for creating lines and strokes or drawing illustrations while the 5mm width would be great for bold highlighting. Basically, you can switch between different thicknesses depending on your preferences.

What’s also great about the colors is how subtle and mild they are and won’t bleed through the paper. They are not very bright or similar to neon shades that tend to be too glaring. The pastel colors keep it low and stylish with its soft tones.

You can work on your journals, planners, books, and essays and mark your favorite points and important notes. Plus, the ink is quick-drying so it won’t damage your work with messy smudges and smears.

Looking at it, I can tell that it is more than just a unique shape but also a larger reservoir for the ink. Therefore, you’ll have just enough ink and it won’t easily wear out over time as you use it on school tasks or your projects and work.

On the other hand, the highlighters feature a unique shape that can be a bit clunky and big. However, the size is still easy and comfortable to hold.

Pros

  • Features two widths for writing, drawing, and highlighting in different thicknesses
  • Easy and comfortable to hold
  • Formulated with a quick-drying ink that prevents smudges and smears
  • Gives off subtle and soft pastel colors for readability and stylish tones
  • The ink does not bleed through the paper

Cons

  • The shape may look a little clunky and big

It’s fair to say these pastel highlighter pens are reliable for highlighting and drawing illustrations with their dual widths. Formulated with a quick-drying ink, these pens won’t surely smear and damage your work with messy lines and smudges.

7. 2Way Water-based Pastel Pen Dual Nibs Highlighters

These ICONIC highlighters are all about versatile quality with its 2-way design that you can use to maximize your artistic skills or simply just to emphasize the focal points on your journals and books. You can give it a smooth stroke and glide through the texts and wordings on your material whether with a thick highlight or an underline.

I like how you can use the fine tip to create intricate strokes and lines or write neat but colorful notes on your book, planner, journal, or other creative works you have. The wider tip allows you to perform light but thicker highlighting technique on your personal notes or important reminders on your planner.

I personally love the pastel colors that are just light and subtle and they don’t bleed through the paper, allowing you to keep your handwritten notes or books free from damages and messy lines. The ink, moreover, is not really quick drying so you might want to give your writing just enough time to dry before you work on it with highlighters and save your notes from some smudges and smears.

But as the ink is slightly juicier, as I may say, it writes well and not very likely to dry out too quickly. These beautiful pastel colors don’t get stained with the other colors, leaving your work clean and readable at all times.

What I also like about these highlighters is the slim and compact barrel which lends a comfortable grip and also feels good in the hand when you write, draw, and highlight notes. The size and shape make it much easier to put away in a bag, pocket, or your pencil pouch. Plus, both ends or tips are secured tightly with caps to prevent the ink from drying.

The slight pitfall, however, is the width of the tips which can be relatively smaller than other highlighters. You might need to build more color and thickness if you want to highlight larger texts.

Pros

  • 2-way highlighters for versatility
  • Features a slim barrel for a comfortable grip
  • The ink does not dry out too quickly
  • Allows you to perform thick highlights and strokes and intricate underline
  • Compact and portable for easy storage
  • Offers beautiful pastel colors that don’t bleed through the paper

Cons

  • You need to build more color for thicker lines or highlights

Nevertheless, these pastel highlighters target various projects and can create lines and strokes of different sizes or thicknesses. The beautiful pastel colors do the trick and won’t wreck your work for sure.

8. ZEYAR Highlighter Pastel Colors Chisel Tip Marker Pen

If you’re considering another set of pastel colors that can ramp up the aesthetic features of your work, you might want to give the ZEYAR Highlighters a shot. I’d say each highlighter is crafted with a sleek and delightful pastel color that can keep the words and texts on your work more readable and neatly highlighted.

The colors are very pigmented but not too glaring to bleed through paper. Rather the colors are subtle and soft and would look good on any material you’re highlighting over. The ink, moreover, is water-based so it is non-toxic and free of acid and therefore, safe to use. Kids and teens would probably love these highlighters as well for doodling, creating lines, and drawing illustrations.

When it comes to the tip, it is crafted with two different widths which are 4mm and 1mm. Each width will do the job on certain projects and tasks and you can make use of the finer tip to draw thin and complex lines while the 4mm or the wider tip would be ideal for broader highlighting technique.

The design, on the other hand, may seem wider and shorter compared to other highlighters. But such a feature makes it handy and much easier to hold. While the short and wide design exhibits a simple and basic feature, this also makes it more compact and portable, allowing you to fit it nicely in your pocket or in your pen case.

Therefore, you just have to be careful when highlighting texts and words, especially over a thin paper. The pastel colors are pretty faint, won’t smear on dry ink, and still look beautiful whichever material you use it with.

Pros

  • Crafted with beautiful subtle and soft pastel colors for readability and stylish look
  • Formulated with water-based ink for safe use; non-toxic and acid-free
  • Offers highly pigmented colors but not too glaring
  • Designed with two widths for versatile writing and highlighting
  • Easy to hold and feels good in the hand

Cons

  • Has minimal bleeding through very thin paper

To sum it up, they are all about pigmented pastel colors that don’t go too flashy right before your eyes. These highlighters are innovatively designed with dual widths that will do the trick spruce up the lines and strokes on your illustrations.

9. Monami Essenti Liner Soft Pastel Color Highlighter

If a set of 6 or 5 isn’t enough, then this pack of 12 of Monami Essenti Soft Pastel Color Highlighters might be the deal you need. It includes 6 assorted colors and you’ll get two of each color so you can have an extra just in case you’ve used up all the ink or you want to keep the other one for your other books, notebooks, and journals.

I really like the pen-style design because it is much easier to hold and the comfortable grip allows you to work on your books and papers with ease. The tip has dual widths that you can use for bold and fine lines and highlights. Plus, they glide smoothly across the paper, allowing you to get the work done neatly with a nice touch of pastel colors.

I’d say each color is quite pleasant in the eyes and is soft and subtle so you can read whatever you are highlighting over. You can mark the important points and reminders in your book or journal without going through the words and make them difficult to read. This highlighter does otherwise and you can aesthetically revamp your notes with a touch of soft pastel tones.

The colors are pretty light and faint but you might want to skip the darker tones such as blue or purple if you are highlighting over a thin paper. A bit of shadow might show up on the other side. Despite this downside, the colors are nice to look at and you just have to be careful with what type of paper or material you’re working on to prevent any awful marks.

Pros

  • Pack of 12 highlighter pens
  • Lends soft and subtle pastel colors for mild highlighting and writing
  • Crafted with two widths on the tip for flexible highlighting
  • Allows you to create bold and fine lines
  • Features pen-style design for a comfortable grip

Cons

  • Darker tones might cause minimal bleeding, particularly on thin paper

Nevertheless, this 12-piece set is a great deal to invest in. You’ll have a wide range of colors that you can use for highlighting tasks and making illustrations. While the pastels colors are truly aesthetic, they are light and subtle and will give your work a delightful touch of pastel colors.

10. Faber-Castell Pastel Highlighter Chisel Tip

When it comes to high-quality pastel office supplies such as pastel highlighters, you’d probably end up with trustworthy brands like Faber-Castell. With the brand’s popularity on the market for art materials, it won’t fail to impress with its vast lineup of pastel highlighters such as these assorted colors in a set of 8.

Just by a glance at its design and appearance, I can easily tell how the colors would turn out to be as each highlighter is beaming with a designated soft and subtle color. Each pastel tone renders a nice and neat appearance that would look good on your planner, journal, and books.

You won’t have to worry about messy lines and strokes as the ink is smudge proof and water-based, allowing you to take notes or mark calendars seamlessly with a nice hint of pastel colors. Plus, the water-based ink is safe to use and harmless to you and the environment.

When it comes to the widths of the chisel tip, you can take advantage of the precision highlighting, writing, and drawing with its 3 different line widths: 1mm, 2mm, and 5mm. As I play often with lines, strokes, and different styles of highlighting, I find this quite impressive as most highlighters I found are often crafted with only 2 widths. This feature, moreover, defines flexibility and ease of use.

It also features a flat and ergonomic design that you can easily put away in the bag or pocket. It feels good in the hand as you hold it and won’t roll out of your desk or work table when you leave it for a while.

The downside, however, is the texture of the ink. The darker shades seem to be a bit wet although it doesn’t smudge. I also notice that the thickness also seems to vary from one color to another. The darker ones are a bit thick while the lighter tones are thinner. Nevertheless, these highlighters do the job and will definitely give your work a beautiful pop of color!

Pros

  • Features a 3-in-1 chisel tip design for versatile highlighting and writing
  • Comes in a set of 8 assorted colors
  • Formulated with water-based ink for safe use
  • Features an ergonomic and flat design that makes it handy to use
  • Offers an array of soft pastel colors for stylish marking and better readability

Cons

  • The thickness of each color seems to vary from each other
  • A little bit of inconsistency with the texture of the ink

Crafted as smudge-proof pens, you won’t have to worry about awful and messy marks on your work. They are also designed with three different widths, you can revel in their flexibility to create various thicknesses and line styles!

What to Look for When Buying Pastel Highlighters

Before you head on to the store and pick out the pastel highlighters of your choice, there are some significant factors you have to consider first. Consider the following focal points.

Availability of Shades

Probably one of the first things that you want to check out is the availability of pastel colors. Fortunately, most manufacturers offer them in sets of different colors, allowing you to try out each color and determine which shades you actually need.

You may find them in sets of 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and even 15 but some brands may even offer more than usual. Fewer shades would be ideal for your basic highlighting needs while the ones with more available shades could be very useful for layering and blending colors that you can take advantage of when working on your art projects.

Tip Width

The width of the tip is a highly significant feature of a highlighter, particularly if you want to work with lines and highlighting techniques of different styles and thicknesses. You can find highlighters with a single tip but with dual widths that allow you to create bold lines and fine strokes. Some brands can offer up to 3 widths.

The same concept applies with highlighters with double-ended designs but you have to switch sides every time you want to change the thicknesses of your lines and highlights. But it can be a bit of a hassle to take the cap on and off on each side. Nonetheless, both styles will do the job. But if you’re all about classic design, versatility, and hassle-free highlighting and writing, you may stick with the common single tip designs with dual or multiple widths.

Ink Formula

The ink formula can break or make your highlighter. We’re definitely not into drying ink that wears out too quickly and gives up on you in a short span of time. That’s why it is imperative to check the details regarding the ink formula.

Most of the manufacturers utilize water-based ink which is both reliable and safe to use while many brands reinforce the quality and longevity of their highlighters with the use of formula technologies that can keep the ink from drying out. Such a feature would be ideal for users who often forget to put away their highlighters without the lids on.

If you’re worried about smears and smudges, you may also consider highlighters formulated with a thermo-sensitive ink. There are brands opt this formula to make their highlighters erasable, allowing you to eliminate any smudges or damages and hence, keep your notes clean at all times. Some pastel highlighters also boast their water-resistant compounds that can save your work from messy errors, smudges, or smears.

Brand Reputation

Searching for the perfect pastel highlighters may take a bit of research, especially if you’re going to try it for the first time. You can start off with the trustworthy and reputable brands that do not fail to impress with their excellent lineup of highlighters. With their established reputation and innovation of technologies, you can expect high-quality products that do not wear out easily over time.

Preferences, Needs, and Your Budget

If you’re contemplating your options, it is a prerequisite to determine what your preferences and needs are. Are you only going to use it for highlighting or you wish to use it to elevate your creative projects, artworks, or illustrations? Do you need erasable highlighters or just the usual formula and design? Do you prefer a pen-style design or flat and ergonomic shape to fit in your hand?

As you evaluate your needs, you should also consider how much you’re willing to spend on these highlighters. They don’t cost a lot, though, and spending more doesn’t always mean better quality. You can even avail them for as low as $5 or anywhere near that price. But remember to take note of the quality and prioritize the features that would make a great value for your money.

Other Important Factors to Consider

What is a pastel highlighter?

Crafted with soft, subtle, and light pastel colors, a pastel highlighter renders refreshing tones contrary to the classic neon highlighters that are typically too glaring. It works like any highlighter but with a milder shade that enhances readability every time you highlight over texts. Typically manufactured with tips that have dual widths, it promotes flexible highlighting and writing techniques, allowing you to create lines or highlights in different styles and thicknesses.

While it is commonly used to mark important notes on your books, planners, or journals, the soft playful colors of pastel highlighters are often utilized for layering and blending colors, particularly in making illustrations and amplifying creative projects.

How does it work?

Pastel highlighters are usually formulated with water-based ink that can provide smooth and clean texture, thereby allowing the highlighter to glide smoothly on the material as you define lines, create strokes, and simply just highlight over words and sentences. Just how you use a common highlighter, you lay the tip onto the material, press it on gently, and drive the highlighter seamlessly to highlight the main points of your work. Moreover, this type of formula is safe to use and also harmless to the environment.

Who is this for?

If you are a teacher, a student, an organizer, an artist, or simply just someone who wants to keep the deets on your work organized and carefully highlighted without getting too blinded with striking neon colors, pastel highlighters are the ideal choice for you. The mild and light colors give off subtle tones that are cool in the eyes, giving your projects, books, and tasks a dash of pop color and stylish look.

If you are someone who also wants to spruce up the creativity and artistic skills, you can mix and play with these beautiful soft colors, layer and blend the shades to decorate projects or create illustrations with bold and fine lines and strokes. And as they are typically formulated with water-based ink, it is safe for both adults and teenagers to use.

What are the different types of pastel highlighters?

Although pastel highlighters may all look similar, they can be classified by the style of their tip and type of ink formula. There are highlighters that differ by the width of their tips that can deliver lines and highlights of different thicknesses and sizes.

As mentioned, most pastel highlighters feature water-based ink formulas that can render smooth texture while some brands take their spotlight on water-based ink formulas with an innovative technology that keeps the ink from drying out. Some manufacturers also use a thermo-sensitive ink formula, making the highlighters erasable and messy-free.

Why do you need pastel highlighters?

While pastel highlighters can be a great addition to your highlighter arsenal, these perky and soft colors can be essential for highlighting the focal points and notes on your books, notebooks, or any material. They can also be your creative pens when you work on your art projects and illustrations.

As gentle as their colors are, these highlighters are ideal to use on different types of materials without getting too messy with the colors. A pastel highlighter does the job of what any highlighter does but with a more stylish, organized, and neat look.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the most trusted pastel highlighter brands?

The market is beaming with a vast array of highlighter brands but many stand out because of their long-lasting quality and performance. While Stabilo Boss has been a reputable brand of highlighters for years, there are other popular and trusted pastel highlighter brands that you can check out such as Faber-Castell, Zebra, PILOT, Javapen, Zeyar, and Monami.

Some compare Stabilo Boss VS Zebra Mildliner but each brand exhibits their respective impressive features and pitfalls. That is why it is imperative to check the brand first, consider the customer reviews, and learn more about it to know which brand best suits your preferences.

Are Stabilo highlighters good?

Known to be one of the most reputable and trustworthy brands of highlighters and deemed to be “the father of all highlighters”, it’s safe to say that Stabilo highlighters are good. Perhaps, more than just good. A lot of users are fond of their vast collection of highlighters and consider them their favorite among the highlighters available on the market because of their quality, design, and long-lasting ink.

Throughout the years, the brand has developed other shapes and sizes apart from its classic and signature shape. The widths of the tips also vary from one highlighter to another, which offers flexible writing and highlighting. Personally, I like their Anti-Dry technology that keeps the ink long-lasting and many users might find this a useful feature as well.

How much are Stabilo pastel highlighters?

These Stabilo pastel highlighters are available in a vast pricing range. But you’d be happy to know that many of the pastel highlighters from this brand are available at an affordable pricing mark. You can buy them by piece or in sets which typically include 4 or 6 colors. The price tag might only vary or become higher than usual due to the number of colors included in the set. You can purchase these beautiful Stabilo pastel highlighters in a set of 8, 10, and 15.

How do you use pastel highlighters?

Using a pastel highlighter is just like using a typical highlighter or a pen. But if you’re trying out a pastel highlighter for the first time, you may take note of these following tips:

  1. Take the cap off. Four double-ended pastel highlighters, choose which type of tip you want to use and gently take the cap off.
  2. If you’re going to highlight over a regular paper, press the highlighter gently onto it.
  3. Let it glide smoothly on your material. Use it to highlight important notes on your book or mark some reminders on your planner or journal.
  4. If you’re using the finer tip, use it to underline the notes. You can also use it to draw illustrations, doodle, or create intricate lines and strokes.
  5. Don’t forget to put the cap or lid back on after using it or when you’re switching between the colors. Make sure the lid is sealed tightly to prevent the ink from drying out.

Pastel highlighters lend soft and subtle colors. But if you’re going to use it on a thin paper, you can try a little swatch to check if it would bleed through the paper.

Where can you buy pastel highlighters?

You can find pastel highlighters in almost every bookstore or art shop you can find although the availability of the brands and colors may vary from one shop to another. There are physical stores that you can try out where you would be allowed to choose and check the highlighters personally or even test their swatches.

A lot of popular brands of highlighters, however, have provided a much easier platform where you can choose and check the latest products, popular deals, and best-selling pastel highlighters through online stores and popular e-commerce websites such as eBay and Amazon. You can easily access the vast array of pastel highlighters from your favorite brands. Some of these brands, moreover, offer affordable pricing range and discounts every now and then.

How to care and clean highlighters?

Highlighters are easy to care for. While they do not require any extensive care and maintenance, always keep in mind that the ink will still have the tendency to dry out. Therefore, you should not forget to put the cap back on at all times, especially right after using it or even when you are switching between the colors while you are working on your illustrations or highlighting over texts.

You’d be lucky enough to find pastel highlighters that are crafted with an anti-dry technology such as the Stabilo highlighters we have mentioned in the reviews. If you often forget to put the caps back on, this feature might be the ideal design for you.

Moreover, make sure that the lid or cap is tightly sealed and secured to prevent the ink from drying out too quickly. You can put them away in a pen case or box but it’ll be much better if you can keep them upright, so the ink won’t leak in any way.

Is there a warranty available for highlighters?

As much as we want to have proof of reliable quality for every product, it isn’t very typical for highlighters to have a warranty. That is why it is a prerequisite to delve into the features and the pros and cons of the highlighters you are planning to purchase. In this way, you’d be able to determine which brand or set of highlighters is a great value for money.

While a warranty isn’t usually available, there are brands that offer a money-back guarantee just in case you are not satisfied with your purchase or you wish to have the products replaced or returned. On the other hand, I find it impressive when a brand can provide excellent customer service that can promptly address your concerns about the product. I also recommend you consider this essential factor. This would also be a good reference to back up the durability and quality of the product in lieu of a warranty.

Conclusion

With the plethora of pastel highlighters on the market, searching for the best pastel highlighters can be a bit challenging. But the key is to determine your preferences and sift through the focal points and features such as mentioned above. The comprehensive reviews also unravel the pros and cons that will help you figure out the topnotch options and pick out which brand and set of highlighters will best complement your needs and preferences.

High End Highlighters – A Zebra Mildliner Review

Highlighters can be boring, but they don’t have to be! Check out my Zebra Mildliner review and see how these highlighters can making writing more enjoyable!

Brighten Your Day

For the longest time, I was never much of a highlighter lover. I liked buying them and keeping them on my desk because let’s be honest — highlighters laying around just oozes a “productive” vibe. But I rarely uncapped my highlighters to, you know, hightlight things. Then, after hearing about these supposedly incredible Zebra Mildliners, I decided to grab myself a set. And just like that, my opinion of the humble highlighter changed radically. Let me dig into what caused that change in this Zebra Mildliner review.

My Zebra Mildliner Review

I bought my set of Zebra Mildliners a little over a year ago, and since then they have become a staple in my bullet journal toolkit. I use them regularly for standard bullet journal spreads, Lists of 100, meeting notes, and much more.

Where to Find Zebra Mildliners

While I haven’t found Zebra Mildliners in a store yet, that doesn’t mean they can’t be found there! I tend to avoid walking the aisles of office supplies store because I’m always in danger of buying all the pens I can hold. It appears as though typical office supply box stores have Zebra Mildliners listed online, you can’t be sure a store will have these highlighters until you look for yourself. Personally, I buy my Zebra Mildliners straight from Amazon — I always know they’ll be there and I’m a Prime member to boot, so there’s no downside!

The Pros

Okay, so it’s clear that I’m a fan of the Zebra Mildliner. Here’s all the reasons why these highlighters rock!

Soft Colors

All the highlighters I’ve ever used before the Zebra Mildliners were screaming neon colors that were always a bit of an eyesore to me. I just don’t jive with those bright, vivid colors. What made me fall in love with the Mildliners is their range of soft colors. These highlighters still do their job of making certain words or headers pop, but they do it in an aesthetically pleasing way.

Range of Colors

You can buy just a single set of five highlighters, but you can also grab three different sets all together, totaling fifteen highlighters. When you get these three together, you get a huge range of colors that are all simply gorgeous. There are earth-toned and jewel-toned highlighters, along with more pastel options. If you do prefer having some more traditionally colored highlighters, then you’ll be happy to know that there are some more neon Mildliners as well — though I find they aren’t as harshly colored as other brands.

Dual Tips

The Zebra Mildliners have two tips, which is a huge plus. On one end, there is the standard chisel tip that you need for highlighting text and such. On the opposite end, you will find a bullet tip that is perfect for writing, drawing mind maps, and any other fine line needs. The versatility in writing options is spectacular, especially if you are a student who takes lots of notes!

Smaller Size

These highlighters are the size of any normal pen, which makes it super easy to toss in your pencil bag or backpack and take with you on the go. They also fit nicely in the hand, which is pretty excellent for someone with small hands like me.

Reusable Packaging

The Zebra Mildliners don’t come in a blister pack that you rip into and then immediately toss. Instead, the packaging is a sturdy and textured plastic pocket that you can keep your highlighters in all the time. The top flap folds down and tucks nicely into the main body of the pocket, keeping your Mildliners nice and secure.

Ink Quality

In all the time I have used these highlighters, I have never had any issue with ghosting or bleeding. The ink of the Mildliners seems to play nicely with paper — although I will admit that the majority of my Mildliner use has been in a Leuchtturm1917. On top of all of that, I have never had a highlighter get dry or streaky. After a year of use, all are still going strong!

Price

While the Zebra Mildliners are not the cheapest highlighters you can get your hands on, they are still extremely affordable. You will definitely get a bang for your buck with this set of highlighters!

The Cons

Honestly, I had to really dig deep to figure out anything that could possibly be wrong with these highlighters. They have great colors, variety, versatility, and a fantastic price tag. So know that while the Zebra Mildliners are certainly not perfect, they are pretty damn close.

Swipe Size

My only complaint of the Zebra Mildliners is minor, but it’s worth mentioning — the size of the chisel tip is not very large. There are times that I have to go over a line of text twice to fully cover everything in color because the chisel tip isn’t quite large enough to get it all in one swipe. It’s not ideal because any overlap in marks results in a darker shade of the color, but it’s by no means a dealbreaker.

Happy Highlighting!

Highlighters aren’t for everyone. You just might not be someone who takes notes all that often, or you aren’t interested in adding dabs of color to your bullet journal headers. However, if you were to ever change your mind and get into the highlighter game, then it will be because of the Zebra Mildliners. They are truly the perfect highlighter for me, and I can’t sing high enough praises. If you’re a habitual note-taker, a studious student, or an avid bullet journaler with a hunger for more pen variety, then I suggest you give the Zebra Mildliners a try and see for yourself how enjoyable they are.

I hope you have found this Zebra Mildliner review helpful as you search for your dream journal! Let me know in the comments section what product you want me to review next, and head to the My Supplies page to see some of my other favorite materials!

90,000 The best shoes of the new season

Mules, flatforms, shoes painted with colorblocks, sneakers and sneakers covered with glitter and stones – in spring and summer, all attention is focused on the shape and color of shoes, and the more unexpected they are, the better. Designers cleverly mix styles, details and even entire decades, inspired by the works of contemporary artists or images of pop culture heroines. The result is a shoe that perfectly matches the general trend: the absence of pronounced boundaries between seasons and fashion trends. The main message is freedom of expression. The editorial staff of tsum.ru tells what you should pay attention to in the first place in the spring-summer collections.

Flatforms

Designers continue to recall the bold and controversial 1990s. Shoes with chunky and straight soles are another hello from this decade, generous with fashion experiments. In the spring-summer season, flatforms are painted in bright and contrasting colors and complement sandals, brogues, sandals and even espadrilles. The best options can be found in the collections of Dolce & Gabbana, Celine, Stella McCartney.

1970s

1970s – the main motive of the spring-summer season. Sandals with a stable heel and platform, decorated with metallic inserts or large stones, are an integral part of the outfits of the fashionistas of the disco era. In addition, this model is also very comfortable, so it is not surprising that in such shoes Bianca Jagger, Diana von Furstenberg and Elizabeth Taylor danced the night away in the legendary Studio-54.Similar sandals are presented in the collections of Ralph Lauren, Giuseppe Zanotti Design, Brian Atwood.

Color blocks

Shoes and sandals decorated with Suprematist squares and rectangles are real fashionable art objects. Roberto Cavalli, Gianvito Rossi, Sergio Rossi and other brands “painted” models from new collections with colored inserts and blocks reminiscent of the works of Piet Mondrian and Kazimir Malevich. Dresses, skirts, suits, trousers in calm and neutral shades are the best company for such shoes.

Metallic

In the coming season, metallic shoes are a great alternative to black classics. Silver and gold-plated models from the latest collections of Bottega Veneta, Aquazzura, Jimmy Choo look futuristic, but at the same time they go well with ordinary jeans, skirts and dresses. The favorite technique of designers is pastel shades in a duet with cold metal.

Flats

Flat sandals are the main hit of summer collections. It is worth paying attention to the models of restrained colors, decorated with large rhinestones or metal rivets. Such a design move will help avoid comparison with beach shoes and will allow you to wear such sandals with shirt dresses, straight-cut trousers and shorts. Ideal pieces are presented in the collections of Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, No. 21.

Gladiators

In the spring-summer season, gladiator sandals reappeared on the fashion scene. A multitude of intertwined straps, large metal rivets and ornaments, fringes are the distinctive features of models from the collections of Saint Laurent, Valentino, Ancient Greek Sandals.

Sport Chic

Sport-chic has not given up its positions in the list of the main trends for several seasons. In the spring collections of Balenciaga, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Mother of Pearls and other brands, the emphasis is on shoes. The sneakers, sneakers and sandals are embellished with sequins, crystals and laminated inserts, but comfort and practicality are still paramount.

Power Pumps

High-heeled pumps with a pointed toe – a classic of women’s wardrobe.Tom Ford, Valentino, Casadei and other brands focused on the metallic stiletto heels and pastel shades. A pair like this will be the perfect finishing touch for both an office dress code and an evening outfit.

Mule

Wedge or heel mules with closed or open toe are another favorite of the new season. By the way, similar models in the collections of Lanvin, Chloé, Gianvito Rossi are also a direct quote from the 1990s. Suffice it to recall Carrie Bradshaw in pointed-toed mules and a big pink pompom in one of the Sex and the City episodes. This time, the designers decided to avoid bold tricks, opting for classic colors and laconic design.

White sneakers and trainers

White athletic shoes will be the number one desire this spring. These sneakers and sneakers will look great far outside the sports field. Undoubtedly, the appearance of such models in the designer collections of Tory Burch, DKNY, Le Silla is a reference to the current “normcore” style, which in the coming season has conquered not only the streets of big cities, but also the catwalk.

  • It is not recommended to machine wash your sneakers. They will deteriorate faster from this. Better to do it manually.
  • When you need to dry your shoes, do not place them on the battery. It will dry out the suede, squeeze the skin, and soften the glue. It is best to dry your sneakers with paper or newspaper. Form small lumps and place in the shoe. This will dry the product much faster.
  • When storing the product, do not leave socks inside. Subsequently, it is difficult to get rid of the persistent odor.

With what to wear women’s winter leather red sneakers (photo)

Sports shoes have long ceased to be used only as equipment for running and have firmly entered the everyday wardrobe of most fashionistas.

In this article, we will look at the photo with what to wear women’s high red sneakers in both winter and summer leather, which combine incredible brightness and comfort.

You will learn how to correctly build an image in which they will be present, as well as get acquainted with several ready-made bows.

In fact, all sports shoes are versatile enough. For many years, large manufacturing companies have been creating sneaker models that are not even intended for sports, but are used purely for everyday wear. These types of sneakers fit perfectly into almost any casual look and look very harmonious in it.

In addition, no one forbids creating a combi-bow that would be somewhere on the border between sports and everyday style. In this case, you can and should choose those sneaker models that are used for sports.

The main rule that you just need to follow when building an image is that the central place in the bow is given to sneakers, and the rest of the items harmoniously complement them. Remember that red shoes in themselves are an incredibly powerful accent and the proximity to any bright things has a detrimental effect on the visual harmony of your entire outfit.

It is for this reason that experts recommend choosing other things in such a way that they complement the red, and do not try to interrupt it. In addition, one should not be zealous with the abundance of this very shade.

A discreet beige tone perfectly complements the red palette. It’s a warm subgroup of shades, just like red, so the two go well side by side.

It is quite possible that your first desire will be to build a bow from several red objects at once. This, of course, is not true, since such an action would simply overload the entire image and make it unnecessarily bright. Looking ahead, we can say that in rare cases it is allowed to add another red object. In this exception, the image turns out to be incredibly bright and rich.

We will consider such a bow a little below, but I would like to immediately draw your attention to the fact that in this example the red objects are at different levels of the bow and at different heights, namely, these are sneakers and a cardigan.

This technique is embedded in a fashionable look in order to evenly distribute strong accents in the bow. If you put on, for example, pants and shoes of red color, then this will create a kind of color trap in the leg area, because of which the upper part of the image will remain invisible and very faded.

Red sneakers for women in most cases have a variety of white elements and light-colored decor. This could be a sole, a manufacturer’s mark, or even laces. It is this favorable color combination that should be repeated in the rest of the image. You can even say that such a fashionable tip will greatly facilitate the creation of a bow, and therefore you can safely use it.

This, of course, does not mean that other shades are excluded, but at least one white object must be present in the bow.

Most often, these models are worn under jeans or denim shorts. The fact is that the combination of red and blue creates a strong contrast, the strength of which is controlled by the brightness of the blue hue. For a calmer and softer effect, choose a denim that is either very light, almost white, or has a very dark shade.

Washed light blue denim shorts are also great, especially if the sneakers have white details or decor.

In the same cases, when the sneakers are made entirely in red, they are combined with black clothing. This combination is distinguished by a rather strong color depth, since red against a dark background always visually appears more saturated.

Of course, white and red models can also be combined with black, but in this case, you need to make sure that the bow is not too complicated – there should be a minimum amount on clothes of a simple cut of this palette. Thanks to this, the image will not be overloaded and will remain harmonious.

Clothes of beige, gray and pastel shades can be included in absolutely any image without disturbing its color balance. You can wear red sneakers, women’s skinny black jeans, and choose all the rest of the clothes in beige tones, thanks to this, the bow will turn out to be bright at the same time, but at the same time retaining a certain amount of calm and softness.

Although sneakers are versatile shoes that go well with many styles of clothing, it is forbidden to combine red sneakers with formal and formal outfits. The only exceptions can be bows, in which emphasis is placed on this diversity of styles.

For a warm season yet feminine look, consider pairing red wedge sneakers with a variety of dresses.

Of course, we are not talking about long models to the floor, but about midi-length dresses, although there are such bold bows, one of which we will consider below. This combination looks surprisingly organic and very easy.In addition, this combination is a kind of quintessence of comfort, since dresses and sneakers are extremely comfortable for everyday wear.

Winter leather red sneakers: what to wear ↑

Women’s red winter sneakers differ from summer and demi-season models by the presence of fur elements. In this case, you will need to choose clothes in such a way that it matches not only the color of the sneakers themselves, but also the shade of their fur. But do not worry about this, because most often the fur elements are milky or beige in color, which are highly versatile and go well with all the colors listed above.

In general, the secret of building a balanced and stylish image is as follows: first, items of those shades that contrast most strongly with red are selected – these are blue, white and black. There should not be too many of these things, unless you want to build your entire image in contrast.

For a relatively calm everyday bow, one or two items of these colors will be enough. Clothes in which these shades are combined with each other are also perfect.

When this is done, it is necessary to add the missing items, they are selected in neutral shades. If you follow this scheme correctly, you can get an image that will be as balanced as possible in terms of color, but at the same time retain all the brightness that can be obtained from contrasting combinations.

An incredibly gentle and comfortable casual look can be achieved by combining fabric running red sneakers, jeans and a gray T-shirt in one outfit. It is better to choose jeans in light blue, and boyfriend models are ideal.A gray T-shirt may well not be monochromatic, but have some kind of prints or inscriptions.

It is allowed to add small soft accessories to this bow, but remember about the unity of style. Make your makeup as discreet and light as possible.

The next image is quite bright and built purely in contrast. Red wedge sneakers are worn along with black skinny jeans. Also in the bow there is a loose blouse in white with horizontal black stripes. The finishing touch will be a small red handbag, as well as some pretty bright makeup. It is in this case that a rich make-up turns out to be a successful and well-thought-out style solution.

If you don’t want to waste time on fashion experiments, simply wear red sneakers with your favorite jeans and any light-colored linen T-shirt. Such a bow can even be complemented with a leather jacket in the cool season and a voluminous knitted scarf to match the shoes.

Red winter trainers can be paired with black skinny jeans. It will be ideal if dark inserts are present on the shoes. In the upper part of the bow, you should wear a red down jacket, under which a white T-shirt or T-shirt also fits.

But do not think that other outerwear will not fit red sneakers. Think of khaki shades, beige and light skin tones. And if you have a jacket of a suitable color in your wardrobe, then with its help red sneakers will become a real trendy accent of a bow.

Quite an unusual look that will not suit everyone: a beige coat of a classic cut and sneakers in a dark red shade.A black knitted dress of the same length is also worn under the coat, and a black medium-sized bag completes the look. This bow is perfect for you in the fall and early spring.

A bold look, which was already mentioned in the article above, and in which two things of a red hue are combined at once – a cardigan and sneakers. Complement the bow with bright blue skinny jeans, and wear a black and white striped T-shirt on top. A dark medium-sized bag and sunglasses will fit neatly.

A light and at the same time very elegant look is obtained when you combine a black classic women’s suit with red sneakers in a casual style. You can wear a white blouse under the jacket. It is allowed to add a red clutch, but it depends only on your desire. This bow is perfect for both young fashionistas and middle-aged women.

A stylish look with red sneakers can be achieved by wearing them with blue distressed denim mini shorts. In addition to this look, a top or T-shirt-bodysuit in a beige or milky shade is perfect. The onion will turn out to be fresh, sexy and youthful, but it requires enough courage from its owner, because it attracts the eyes.

Red high-top sneakers, skinny jeans and a sweatshirt all combine to create a look that blends casual and sporty styles. It is advisable to choose jeans in bright blue. The sweatshirt should also have a blue tint, and ideally may have various white and red elements on it.A gray or white knitted hat and sunglasses will complement the look.

If you have a stylish straight raincoat or cocoon coat in a camel or beige shade in your wardrobe, then with such a thing red flat-soled sneakers will look especially stylish and original. The only condition is that the cut of outerwear should be as laconic and simple as possible.

Another image that was already mentioned in the article: in addition to sneakers, there is a black elongated dress.A denim jacket is worn over it, as well as a medium-sized dark leather bag. Makeup for this bow should try to be made a little more restrained than usual in order to maintain harmony.

Red leather athletic shoes are a stylish addition to charcoal oversized leggings. Above, the bow is complemented by a fur vest of the same shade. You should pry a thin light gray blouse under it. This image simultaneously combines color tranquility, which is slightly excited by a hint of red.

For the summer, the next trendy bow is sure to suit you. Red sneakers with white soles are worn with a loose beige midi skirt. At the top, the image is complemented by a milky blouse, which also has horizontal thin stripes in brown or coffee. The stylish bow is complemented by a large beige leather bag. The presence of soft accessories in the form of small bracelets or chains is also allowed. The general color calmness of such a bow allows you to make a fairly bright makeup, in which there will be red lipstick to match the sneakers.
