Chow down at the 10 best buffets in Singapore, ranked

One of the culinary highlights of Singapore is the fantastic buffet spreads laid on by the city’s five-star hotel restaurants for lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and Sunday brunch.

Afternoons teas are popular with both local businessmen and ‘ladies who lunch’. Not your average high tea, here you’ll often find sushi bars, curry stations and piles of seafood alongside the usual sandwiches, scones and cakes. The Rose Veranda at the Shangri-La Hotel with its enticing dessert buffet is a perennial favorite amongst locals, while the Tiffin Room at Raffles Hotel is popular with tour parties and tourists.

The Tiffin Room is most famous however for its curry buffets, which have been pulling in the crowds since the 1890s, and are often on tourists’ ‘must-do’ lists. The other crowd pleaser for a curry lunch buffet is Rang Mahal at the Pan Pacific hotel, often lauded as the best Indian restaurant in town.

Several other hotel restaurants wow diners with their impressive buffet selections – the Town at the Fullerton, the Greenhouse at the Ritz Calrton, and Mezza9 at the Grand Hyatt are all famed for their lunch and dinner spreads. Expect piles of fresh seafood, sushi, curry, roasted meat, barbecue, dessert and cheese selections.  For a more laid-back, breezy outdoor atmosphere, then try the Terrace at the Sentosa Resort.

For an altogether more extravagant affair, don your Sunday best and join the city’s well-heeled as they flock to these same hotel restaurants to partake in a Champagne Sunday brunch. Something of a Singapore institution, these indulgent occasions see tables of merry makers washing down the gastronomic extravaganza on offer with free-flow bubbly between 12noon and 3pm.

The Line at the Shangri-la hotel is one of Singapore’s most popular buffet restaurants. Over sixteen culinary stations feature a large selection of international favourites, from Italian to Japanese, Thai and Indian – and of course Singaporean.
