90,000 “Our clothes are worn in Europe, Australia and the USA.” How Kievans are developing the Wild leather brand

Igor Romanenko and Natalya Verich are developing the Wild leather goods brand at Crafta.ua. In an interview with EVO.Business, they told why they chose this particular niche, who their target audience is, how they attract customers and shared their plans for the future.

Why did you start leather goods

Igor Romanenko is the head of a department in a large advertising agency.Despite the fact that he devoted most of his professional life to advertising, he always dreamed of doing something with his hands – he looked towards the fashion market.

The idea to launch leather production arose in 2016, when Igor met Natalya Verich. At that time she had her own clothing brand N. Verich. Natalia is a designer and fashion designer by education.

Igor Romanenko and Natalya Verich

“Since childhood, I have a reverent attitude towards leather things. He spent the whole summer in the village, and there was a harness of horses. And in the 90s he was fond of rock music and dreamed of walking in leather like his favorite performers, but he could not even afford a bracelet, ”says Romanenko.

Our mission is to make leather goods accessible to everyone

Igor sees two development strategies: “You can make expensive goods and make money on sales, or enter the mass segment and make money on volume. We chose the latter. “

Who buys

In the assortment of Wild there are more than 600 items of accessories: bags, harnesses, bracelets, key chains, necklaces, earrings, rings, wreaths and much more. The price range is from 130 UAH for a keychain to 2.5 thousand UAH for a shopping bag.

Creating the brand, we focused on office workers who have the courage to wear extraordinary things. However, now, as the partners admit, they still do not know their target audience. It happens that the same bracelet is bought by a stylist of a fashion magazine and a mother for a child.

“One day two women came, both over 45 years old, to choose key chains. At first they were attracted by the figures of ballerinas and cats, and in the end they left with keychains with Yoda. I stand and understand that I don’t know my target audience, ”recalls Natalya.

In addition to Ukraine, Wild products are worn in Australia, the USA and Europe. Every tenth customer is a regular customer.

Customer loyalty is won by the service: “Recently, a customer, by mistake of a postal operator, received a broken smartphone instead of a key fob.Without waiting for clarification, they sent the same keychain. Customers’ reputation and mood are more important. ”

“Our products are often bought as a gift. It happens that they are mistaken with the choice. In this case, we can exchange the goods, even if more time has passed than the 14 days allotted by law for the return and exchange, ”says Verich.

Selling online is easier than offline

According to Igor and Natalia, they offer colors, accessories, and styles that are exclusive to the Ukrainian market. To do this, they track Instagram, Pinterest, and are inspired by the images of Western stars.

“On the one hand, it makes the brand unique, but on the other hand, it makes the business more vulnerable. If you guess wrong – you bought the wrong skin color or you make the wrong products – there are no sales, ”the entrepreneurs explain.

Photo from the Wild

store In Ukraine, partners lack reliable suppliers: “They began to buy accessories directly from China. Ukrainian suppliers often do not have the required parts. You come, and they tell you that the necessary figures will be available only after four months. ”

Initially, Igor and Natalya sold products at festivals. But we faced the fact that it is always a lottery: sales volumes depend on the space provided on the market and the number of visitors in general.

“Participation costs 5-7 thousand UAH, not counting the logistics costs. To recapture it, you need to sell goods for 15 thousand UAH. For comparison: in the first nine months of 2019, we sold a total of 250 goods worth UAH 90,000, ”says Igor.

The best selling products are on the Crafta site.ua

“Crafta.ua is pleased with the convenient interface, the ability to independently upload goods to the catalog,” Igor shares his experience.

Placing goods on the site is free. Crafta.ua commission – 10% of the order value. It can be increased up to 25%, then the product will be displayed on the site above. “As for me, these are the most adequate conditions, because everyone else wants money in advance.”

Crafta.ua remains the main source of orders for Igor and Natalia. For three years, they sold almost 400 products on the site and on average earn 5 thousand UAH per month. Now they are looking for additional opportunities for business development.

Roles in the project and future plans

Now Natalya devotes all her time to the Wild brand, Igor continues to work in an advertising agency. “Business still requires investments and does not bring the income that would allow leaving the main place of work,” says Romanenko.

Igor comes up with ideas, and Natalya – how to bring them to life: develops patterns and is responsible for the production technology. Most of the other processes are outsourced – logistics, tailoring, sales, photography.

“When you don’t get hung up on people, you don’t need to nurture them. You just hire proven professionals and organize everything correctly, ”Natalya believes.

In the last year, the partners changed their strategy: they focus not on the production of new products, but on the promotion of existing ones, including to a Western audience. “Sometimes it happens that you want to think of something, but you stop yourself,” Igor laughs.

Natalia and Igor dream of rebuilding all business processes so that they can work from anywhere in the world: “Do what you love, and then you won’t have to work a single day in your life.”

So what can you buy in Australia after all? There are a huge number of different options, the main thing is that all purchased souvenirs fit into the luggage. The local Australian population is very fond of visiting shops, which is understandable – there are a large number of all kinds of shopping centers, boutiques, shops where you can find quite affordable prices.

There are markets and large hypermarkets in all cities of the country, where boutiques and salons, trade kiosks and shops, restaurants, cafes and other entertainment are located.

Souvenirs

Boomerang

A special unique symbol of the country, which is, in a way, the emblem of Australia. This is no ordinary boomerang that makes a comeback and can be bought in every sports department. The Australian boomerang is a special hunting device for local aborigines. In virtually all Australian markets and local shops, you can see a huge variety of national boomerangs, decorated in the form of dot painting in the manner of aboriginal local art. This item can be of various sizes, from a small keychain to a significant boomerang, with any image. If there is a goal to purchase souvenirs for a wide circle of friends, there is a possibility of negotiating a lower price if you purchase a whole set. Souvenirs are light and convenient in terms of transportation, the cost will also pleasantly surprise: the minimum price starts from $ 2 for a small keychain, $ 4-6 for a small boomerang.

Didgeridoo

The national souvenir didgeridoo is a musical wind instrument that looks like a pipe; eucalyptus is used as a material; the finished product is painted with drawings of national themes. Even in ancient times, the instrument was used by local shamans when they entered a trance, with the help of which the method of continuous breathing was practiced. In the shops you can buy tubes up to 1.5 meters, but it must be taken into account that the tubes are fragile, you should think in advance about a safe way of transporting them.

Toys

Since Australia is very popular among tourists due to its unique fauna, souvenirs in the form of various soft toy animals are in great demand. Soft giraffes and pandas, kangaroos and possums, which are most often dressed in local attire or with the Australian flag in hand. Especially appreciated as a kangaroo souvenir – the country’s sports symbol is sold in boxing gloves. Alternatively, you can buy a whole collection of a family of attractive animals or purchase various representatives of the soft fauna. Crocodile heads and skulls, shark jaws and sets of poisonous insects look spectacular.

Openers

This type of souvenir should be especially appreciated by lovers of hunting and exoticism. An opener with a real kangaroo foot can be purchased at every souvenir shop in the country, the price of which varies around 16 local dollars. If you need a souvenir for a man, there is simply no better option.

Inverted World Map

Unusual souvenir in the form of a world map, which is turned upside down, where New Zealand is the center. This is how Australians see the world in a humorous way. The map is especially popular in New Zealand and Australia, as well as in other southern countries of the hemisphere.

The souvenir is perfect for children, especially before the start of the school year.

Spot painting

Amazing technique for drawing images of Australian aborigines. Through drawing, the tribes passed on their entire life history to the next generation. Using this method, they paint furniture, clothes, shoes and other interior items.Canvases with dot painting are very popular. By weight, they are very light, they can be of different sizes, colorful and bright. It is often possible to purchase a whole collection of such canvases at the Aboriginal tribe’s retail store.

Clothes and footwear

UGG Boots

Today, ugg boots, unconditionally, occupy a leading position in the ranking in terms of popularity of all Australian souvenirs. Given the country’s warm climate, surprisingly enough, warm shoes were invented in Australia. Now cheap Chinese counterfeits have filled almost all markets. Of course, among the huge selection there are branded shoes from real manufacturers, and once you find yourself here, not buying natural ugg boots from sheep’s wool will be an irreparable mistake. Moreover, the purchase will cost significantly less than the purchase through online stores. Sheepskin shoes are sold in stores throughout the year.

Thongs

Flip-flops or flip-flops in the country are called thongs. The Australian population ascribes their invention to themselves, like many other countries. In stalls, shops or souvenir shops, you can find original, colorful and interesting options for such shoes. Slippers or flip flops with the national flag of Australia will also be a great souvenir.

Leather goods

Leather goods in the country can be found in almost every store, but you should pay attention to only three types of leather: crocodile, emu and kangaroo. Shoes, clothing or accessories from the listed options will become a stylish and expensive souvenir, since all animals belong to an exotic species, hence the corresponding price. It will be safer to buy leather goods in large shopping centers; when buying souvenirs in shops, you should definitely require a quality certificate.

Alpaca clothes

Alpaca wool is soft and fluffy to the touch, it is worth taking a closer look at. Australia produces unique cardigans and sweaters, scarves and hats, and even warm underwear. You can buy alpaca items at craft kiosks or in stores.

Jewelry and jewelry

The Australian country has been famous for opals from ancient times throughout the world – the state is considered the absolute leader among all others in their extraction. Moreover, here you can find very unique things, it is worth replacing right away that not everyone can buy them. If there is such a possibility, you should not give up such pleasure. The situation is much simpler with semi-precious stones, which are available to most tourists.

Opals

Luxurious stones are considered an Australian symbol, as 96% of the world’s opal mining is concentrated here. In shops and shops, you can see not only purple, black, dark blue, or silver stones.A black mineral with a white or red tint is highly prized, and translucent opals are no less popular. In order not to buy a fake, it is better to buy stone products in Sydney or Melbourne. The price of jewelry will depend on the size and type, the starting price usually starts at $ 300.

It should also be added that it is more profitable to buy opals at factories – the cost will be significantly lower. It is imperative to save a receipt for the purchase of products – when leaving the country at customs, they may be asked to present it.

Pearl

Australian pearls are famous all over the world for their highest quality. Pearl harvesting is carried out on a large scale. For relatively affordable prices, products can be purchased both in factories and in stores. The assortment of jewelry is varied, you should also not forget about receipts, they should be kept.

Diamonds and sapphires

Special attention should be paid to precious stones such as diamonds, in particular pink, and sapphires.Pink diamonds are mined in Australia, of course, the cost of the product will be very high. But there is also a great advantage – the quality of jewelry with stones will be extremely high, and they will look truly unique.

Cosmetics

Most of the beautiful half of the population knows that you can order quality cosmetics from Australia in online stores, the cost will be high, but it is considered the most high-quality and effective. Once in the country, you should definitely visit shops with cosmetic products in order to purchase your favorite options. The prices will pleasantly surprise, the cost of cosmetics in Australia will be significantly lower in contrast to virtual stores.

If you do not take into account Australian brands, but talk about cosmetics in general, you should pay attention to products such as:

Emu oil

Emu oil in its natural form and when added to other cosmetic products is considered another highlight of the Australian country. It is believed that cosmetics with this type of oil are distinguished by anti-aging and nourishing properties, and include a large set of omega acids. You can buy cosmetic products based on emu oil in specialized stores or in pharmacies, which are found in almost all large shopping centers.

It is better to buy oil in its natural form in pharmacies. If you are interested in a specific product, you should seek help from consultants who are in all stores – responsive people will gladly advise and help you make the right choice.

Eucalyptus oil

This miraculous oil should be purchased exclusively in Australia.Eucalyptus oil is very popular all over the world due to its special properties and excellent quality. A bottle of real oil will cost about $ 10 (50ml). It is much more profitable to purchase a 100 ml bottle, which will cost $ 15. Eucalyptus oil and cosmetics with its addition should be bought in cosmetic stores or pharmacies.

Papaya Remedies

Australian gels, balms, shampoos, soaps containing papaya – a gorgeous gift as a souvenir for family and friends. The country is known all over the world for its cosmetic products with the addition of papaya; it is simply necessary to purchase it in Australia. The initial cost varies from $ 4-5, and you can buy cosmetics in supermarkets and specialty stores.

Food and beverages

Alcoholic drinks are very expensive in Australia. The cost differs significantly against the backdrop of grocery prices. For example, the smallest bottle of beer will cost $ 2, low quality wine – $ 12-14, from $ 40 you will have to pay for a bottle of fine fine wine.

Tea and coffee

Coffee and tea produced in Australia, unfortunately, cannot be attributed to the best and highest quality, this is influenced by the geographic location of the state. You can buy tea with the addition of various herbs, the taste of which will be appreciated only by true gourmets. It is better to take coffee in Byron Bay, in specialized stores.

Macadamia nut

Walnut is very expensive when compared with our price standards. In Australia, its cost is significantly lower.Macadamia nut is grown in Australia, so you can buy it almost everywhere: in the market and in the store, in souvenir shops and supermarkets. Most often, the walnut is sold in packaged packaging, sometimes it can be found by weight.

Wedgeite

Wedgeite Pasta can be safely attributed to the Australian national delicacy. Most people think it tastes like peanut butter, which is a big misconception. The similarity may lie only in the fact that, like Australians, and Americans alike love their version of the pasta.

Vegimite pasta is made on the basis of beer wort. It tastes like a slightly yeasty taste. Here, opinions on pasta can be divided literally from the first minute of tasting: the taste can be appreciated from the first spoon, someone may not like it at all. There is only one conclusion: you should definitely try the pasta and, if you like it, be sure to buy a couple of jars both for yourself and for your loved ones as a souvenir from an Australian country. It is possible to buy original pasta in duty-free shops, hypermarkets and souvenir stalls; for those who wish to save money, the pasta will be cheaper in supermarkets.

Tim-Tam

It is difficult to make a choice, what is the best way to bring sweet tooth and children from the trip? In this case, the local Tim-Tam biscuits are an excellent option. Cookies can be selected with a variety of flavors such as punitive, chocolate, nut or berry. And you can buy it almost anywhere. Cookies cannot be attributed to some kind of advertised tasty treat for visitors, the local population loves it very much. The price for cookies starts at $ 3.Tim-Tam is best bought in supermarkets.

Cherry Ripe

Having visited any supermarket, you can immediately pay attention to the Cherry Ripe chocolates and bars. The delicacy is no less popular than Tim-Tam. It tastes like cherry juicy filling with incredibly tasty chocolate. Cherry Ripe can be purchased in the form of chocolates and bars, loose candies or in boxes. If you want to pamper your loved ones with something tasty and unusual – Cherry Ripe is exactly what you need.

Honey

Australian natural honey has medicinal properties. Moreover, a certain type of honey can replace various antibiotics. Whether this is really so – is up to everyone individually, but it is definitely necessary to try it. Honey tastes slightly different from traditional honey, due to the fact that it is “produced” by bees from plants that grow only in Australia.

The cost of honey is relatively high, but since it has healing qualities, the price is fully justified. You can buy medicinal honey in specialized shops, souvenir kiosks and in the market.

Jam from Iilly- pilly

Lilly-pilly – this is the name of a juicy pink berry that grows in Australia. Maybe someone is lucky enough to taste the berries in their natural form. If such an opportunity does not present itself, you should pay attention to jam or berry jam. Lilly-pilly has a rather unusual taste, but many people like it. Jam will be a wonderful souvenir as Australian sweets for friends and family. In supermarkets and souvenir shops, you can choose another version of jam from no less exotic berries.

Dried meat

You can see quite unusual meat on sale, which probably cannot be found anywhere large. Of course, these are kangaroo, emu and crocodile meat. The cost of a small packet of jerky meat is approximately $ 12, and the type of animal is painted on the product label, so you can easily determine the specific type of meat. In supermarkets, the price will be significantly lower than in souvenir shops.

Wine

Australian wines are very popular all over the world. True connoisseurs can taste several varieties of wines, heading to the winery, and then buy the option they like. For all other amateurs who wish to purchase a bottle of Australian wine as a souvenir, it would be more correct to do this in a specialized store.

It is important to pay attention to the wine producer, if data are not available, most likely the wine can be produced from production residues, which will significantly affect the taste. Moreover, considering the comments of avid travelers, it is worth ditching the wines produced in the southern part of Australia. However, for those who are not particularly versed in the quality of wine, this factor will not become so fundamental.

The cost of a good wine starts at 20 Australian dollars. Other options are also more or less worthy, but they have nothing to do with quality and famous Australian wines.

Bundaberg Rum

Another version of the alcoholic drink is the Australian Bundaberg Rum.Real rum can be bought in specialized outlets and in duty-free shops. This brand is considered the most popular, which will be an excellent option as a souvenir.

Stubby

Australian Stubby beer is sold in 0.33 ml round containers. Given that quite a few tourists seek to acquire this particular species, Stubby is sold only in specialized alcoholic stores.

Beer is considered to be one of the main symbols of Australia. If someone is afraid that they will not be able to bring the drink home, you should pay attention to at least a special case from Stubby, which is sold in all souvenir shops. The most demanded options are with the Australian flag and the symbols of local football teams.

Where to go shopping?

In Sydney, you should visit the central market, which is located in Chinatown, working days: Friday-Sunday. Here you can find inexpensive goods as souvenirs. City dwellers buy fruits and vegetables at the market, products of local producers.

In Brisbane, it is worth walking around the city center. Mass trade here is concentrated in markets and shopping centers, gift shops and supermarkets.

Shopping Features

Reviews about Australian shopping are very contradictory: some people like all kinds of aboriginal things, and they buy everything with great pleasure, others expected to buy leather goods at low prices and were very upset that they did not have such an opportunity. If someone hopes to bring a bunch of souvenirs from Australia and at the same time not spend much money, then it is better to go to India or China, since Australian prices can be classified as average. The country will need to part with an impressive amount, moreover, the brought souvenirs and gifts will be quite interesting and unique.

When buying key chains, you should take into account, purchasing them as a souvenir, it is more profitable to buy packaging, which will cost much less. Honey should be taken only from the market – store-bought honey will differ in taste for the worse.

90,000 9 real stories that were filmed in Hollywood thrillers – What to see

Agree, it’s nice sometimes in the evening to sit down at some thriller movie and get “Safe” dose of adrenaline. And when the words “based on real events” appear on the screen, the interest in the film increases a thousandfold. The site publy.ru has collected a selection of creepy real events, which later became the basis for 9 chilling thrillers, from which you simply cannot tear yourself away.

Wolf’s Pit

Frame: 403 Productions

This Australian horror film tells the story of the journey of three friends who crossed paths with serial killer Mick Taylor. It was a terrible monster that roamed the Australian outback in search of new victims to kill and skin them. This is all pretty scary, isn’t it? However, “Wolf Pit” has a very real basis: it is filmed based on serial murders committed by a maniac named Ivan Milat.

In the photo: Ivan Milat

Like his co-star in the film, Milat hunted tourists in the Australian outback. He grew up there, was a hunter and used his skills to do terrible things. Unlike Taylor, Milat did not skin his victims. However, he was no less cruel. Milat denied any involvement in the killings even when several half-decomposed bodies were discovered. At least seven people died at his hands. On July 27, 1997, Milat was sentenced to 7 life sentences plus another 18 years.

The girl next door

Frame: Modern Girl Productions

In The Girl Next Door, based on the novel by Jack Ketchum, the story is told by David Moran, a Wall Street banker. He reflects on a very difficult period in his childhood when he met two sisters – Meg and Susan. After the death of their parents, they moved to live with their aunt. The aunt turned out to be a complete psychopath who began to torment Meg. To make matters worse, she encouraged her children to engage in bullying. The film was based on the real-life murder of Sylvia Lakens, who lived in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1965.

In the photo: Gertrude Banizhevski (left) / Sylvia Lakens (right)

The parents left Sylvia and her sister in the care of a nanny named Gertrude Banizhevski. Not receiving one of the payments on time, Banizhevsky turned the girls’ lives into hell, and Sylvia became the main target of bullying. Banizhevski encouraged her children and other children from the surrounding area to torture Sylvia. At first she extinguished cigarettes on her skin, then it came to beatings and sexual abuse. In the end, Sylvia tried to escape, but she failed. Sylvia died as a result of a strong blow to the head on October 26, 1965. When the police arrived, they found her body lying on a dirty mattress. It could be seen that she was starved to death, her whole body was covered with bruises, and there were over 100 cigarette burns on it.Banizewski was found guilty of first degree murder.

Exorcist

Perhaps one of the most shocking and truly scary films. Released in 1973, the film featured a 12-year-old girl named Regan who became possessed by an ancient demon. Two Catholic priests are trying to exorcise the demon from the girl’s body. The author of the novel on which the film is based had the idea to write it after an incident with a boy named “Roland Doe” or “Robbie Mannheim.”

He was probably born in 1936 and lived in Maryland with a family who began noticing strange phenomena associated with him, such as spontaneously moving pictures and scratching sounds. In 1949, two Catholic priests from St. Louis performed several exorcisms. When they did this, the boy began to speak Latin, although he never knew this language. He also began to spit, and the rash on his skin suddenly changed, and words and numbers were formed from it. Years later, Walter Halloran, one of the priests involved in the exorcism, said the boy may have simply repeated the Latin the priests had spoken to him. He did spit, and he did have a red rash, but it didn’t take various forms.
