Large 3.5-Inch LCD
Through this large 3.5-inch LCD touch function, a user can rapidly use various functions like video play, real-time video check, and camera setting.
High-performance Cortex-A5 core
800 MHz CPU
The blackbox is equipped with a Cortex-A5 core CPU, which is designed for low power consumption to enable a high-efficiency, multitasking capacity, and is commonly used in tablets and smartphone devices.
With such a powerful CPU, the black box saves videos in full HD for both the front and rear of a car while providing a comfortable environment in which a variety of features, including an LCD screen output, touch control, video recording, motion detection, etc., can be reliably operated.
Prevention of Power
Down with Supercapacitors
A super capacitor, which is applied to our black box, ensures that the last video recorded is saved completely, even in case of sudden power outage.
The super capacitor, a part that is more expensive than normal lithium ion or lithium polymer batteries, is more reliable and has a longer life.
Automatic Stop of Its Operationat High Temperature in Summer
Our black box detects high temperatures when, for example, the car is parked in direct sunlight for a long period, and automatically stops the operation of the product in order to protect it. Once the temperature drops to a normal range, the product restarts automatically. With our sophisticated product, there are no more concerns about the product becoming out of order due to high temperatures and never being able to return to its previous, normal working condition.
HD advanced image sensor
With the advanced CMOS image sensor manufactured by Pixelplus, this camera records videos in top quality.
The battery discharge protection feature prevents the discharging of the battery in the car
Our black box provides a battery discharge protection feature even when the product is connected directly to the car battery in order to operate the car’s parking mode. Without using an extra power-off circuit, our black box measures battery power and automatically interrupts the power if it dips lower than the set voltage so that the battery’s power is not used. This will relieve a user’s concerns with respect to possible battery discharge.
External GPS port
When an external GPS is connected, the location and speed of a vehicle can be recorded aside from video.
Recorded video can be checked via the dedicated viewer. Vehicle location and speed can be displayed in the Google Maps of the viewer. (External GPS module is not included.)
Our black box offers audio guidance according to its operation, allowing a user to easily recognize the current status of the product without having to take any further actions.
A total of 14 main actions, including the initiation of the parking mode, cessation of the constant recording feature, restarting of the system, powering off of the system, etc. , are guided by the audio guidance feature.

Why do so many cars have dashboard cameras now? · TheJournal.ie
THE TERRIFYING FOOTAGE of a plane clipping a bridge in Taiwan and crashing into a river this week highlighted the popularity of “dashcams” that are capturing everything from crime to natural disasters through the windscreen.
The TransAsia accident, which left least 35 people dead and several others still missing, was filmed by at least two cars carrying dashboard cameras which have become common in Taiwan — mostly to guard against disputes after accidents.
The footage showed the plane banking steeply, apparently to avoid city buildings, and striking a passing taxi before crashing into a river from where 15 people made miracle escapes from the wreckage.

With the gadget catching on in parts of the world, particularly Russia and Asia’s more developed nations like South Korea and Singapore, it was far from the first time an astonishing event has been captured in this way.
In February 2013, a car-camera caught a meteorite plummeting to Earth in Chelyabinsk, Russia, injuring more than 1,000 people.
And last summer, a dashcam filmed a missile landing on a motorway just a few metres ahead of a speeding car in eastern Ukraine.
The cameras have become particularly popular with Russians and South Koreans as a deterrent for scammers who throw themselves onto the windscreens of slow-moving cars in a bid to claim insurance money.
The trend has spawned an amusing genre of videos of people jumping onto the bonnets of stationary vehicles and pretending to be hurt.
Dashcams have been popular for years in South Korea where they are known as “black boxes” and range from simple front-pointing cams which cost around €130, to four-way cams that cover every angle and cost upwards of €350.
The vast majority of South Korean car owners use them — primarily for insurance purposes. As in other countries, they are used as evidence in the event of a crash, and insurers offer discounts on monthly premiums to car owners who use them.
Major shift’ among consumers
Across the rest of Asia, the gadget’s uptake is a mixed picture: fairly popular in affluent Hong Kong and Singapore, burgeoning sales in Australia and China, and relatively unknown elsewhere.
Singapore’s largest taxi firm has installed cameras in all 16,600 of its vehicles to provide evidence after an accident, but also to encourage prudence from drivers in a society which strictly adheres to rules.
The gadgets hit the headlines in 2012, when shocking images emerged of a speeding Ferrari driven by a Chinese expatriate running a red light and smashing into a taxi at an intersection, killing the two drivers and a passenger.

While dashboard videos are mainly used to settle insurance claims, they are also fed to activist websites which shame reckless drivers by posting videos of their acts online.
Papago, a Taiwanese manufacturer which supplies around 20 percent of the global market, said it sells around 1.0 million dash cams a year with China, Japan, the United States, Russia and Australia its main destinations.
“Sales in China has been up around 20 perc ent in recent years due to growing demand as there have been many fake car accidents to scam money, ” chief marketing officer Jericho Hsiao told AFP.
“With the recent news on the dashcam footage of the crash, the world is talking about them and… the exposure will help promote the product,” he added.
But what about over here?
The habit has also started to catch on in Europe. Sales were estimated to have reached 370,000 in France by early 2014 according to magazine UFC-Que Choisir.
“We are seeing a major shift, with people equipping themselves more and more with cameras in their cars, first of all for use after accidents, but also in case of a hit-and-run,” said a spokesman for France’s Allianz and Amaguiz insurance firm, which has tied up with dashcam manufacturer Coyote.
Pierre Chasseray, head of a French drivers’ association called 40 Millions d’Automobilistes, said dashcams should become standard.
“It’s an extremely positive development in terms of road safety and it’s good in terms of ensuring drivers act responsibly,” he said. “The camera never lies.”

How to Choose a Dash Camera for Your Automobile
Car cameras—also known as dash cams, car cams, or vehicle video recorders—are exactly what they sound like. They’re cameras you install in your car. There are many reasons someone might want one, and there is a bevy of features to be considered when shopping for the right solution. The features can vary a bit, and which are most important will depend on what your concern is. Maybe you’re a parent who’s concerned about the behind-the-wheel behavior of the new teen driver in the house. There’s a solution for that. You run a small business with a delivery fleet? There’s a solution for that, too. Do you just want to have a video camera in the car to protect yourself in case of a traffic infraction? You bet that there’s a dash cam that can help with that.
Here we’ll go over some of the features you should keep in mind when deciding on the best device for your needs. We’ll also talk about what those features really mean, so you’ll know how to choose a dash cam that’s right for you.
Before we get started, it’s important to note that most dash cams are primarily designed to record while a car is in motion. If you’re more concerned with keeping an eye on your vehicle while it’s parked, you will probably be better served by a simple battery-powered camera. Most car cameras are powered by the vehicle in which they are installed, using a cigarette-lighter (12V) adapter. Most of those that have battery packs will only be able to record for a short period, often a few minutes, sometimes an hour, once the car is turned off. Hardwire kits are available for some models, but it’s important to remember that these will draw power from the car’s battery, which can drain it completely if left for a long period of time. They may also require professional installation.
Garmin Parking Mode Cable
There are a few things you should consider while shopping, no matter what your application.
The wider the field of view of the front-facing camera, the better. You want to capture a wide area in front of your vehicle, catching any vehicles (or possibly animals or people) on the side of the road. Just as important, if not more so, is the camera’s frame rate. Since it will be recording video while in motion, especially on highways, the device needs to be able to record without skipping frames or suffering from too much motion blur. Higher rates are better. Some lower-cost devices can record at lower rates. As a rule, a car camera should record at least 30 fps.
GEKO E100 1080p Dash Camera with DVR
Most electronics list minimum and maximum operating temperatures in their specifications. In most cases, we ignore them. When purchasing a dash camera, you’ll want to pay close attention, especially if you live in a region that reaches especially high or low temperatures. Not every car camera is designed to withstand summer heat in Phoenix, AZ, especially in a sealed car. Extreme temperature durability may limit some of the features available on a device, like built-in screens or batteries.
How will you mount the camera? This may seem like a no-brainer, but it might merit a moment of thought. Environmental factors like heat and humidity might make windshield mounting impractical. If your vehicle is leased, you may not want to use a permanent adhesive on the dashboard. In most cases, you can replace the mount later, but it’s worth sparing a moment to see what’s included with any cameras you’re considering.
Transcend Suction Mount for Car Video Recorder Series Cameras
Built-in screens are commonly incorporated into the bodies of car cameras. They allow you not only to review video, but to change settings, like how often the device saves video files. Most have only minimal integrated storage, relying instead on an SD card to save video. When you want to review your footage and travel information, remove the card and read it on a PC, either with included software or, in the case of more basic devices, a third-party video player.
Some car cameras have a Wi-Fi module built in that allows users to connect to the device with a smartphone via an app. These allow you to review and manage files, and usually back up and store important videos on the phone or by emailing them to you or interested parties. There are a very few dash cams that can stream your video to the cloud and allow for live monitoring over the Internet, using their smartphone app to turn your cellular device into a de facto hotspot. This might incur additional fees, however, and will use your cellular data, so be sure to pay especially close attention to any fine print.
Cameras for Personal Liability
Many drivers purchase a dash cam to record their driving so they can use recordings to prove fault, or innocence, in case of a traffic accident or citation. Most dash cameras will serve this purpose well, but there are some things you’ll want to keep in mind.
You probably won’t need audio recording in the case of an accident, and a single-sensor camera will likely suffice. A useful failsafe to look for, however, is what some manufacturers call “Emergency Recording.” It’s a form of overwrite protection that relies on a g-sensor to detect sudden shocks such as those when a vehicle is involved in a collision and will prevent video from being overwritten or erased, usually beginning 30 seconds before the incident. It can also start recording automatically if it had been stopped, whether intentionally or accidentally.
Transcend DrivePro 230 1080p Dash Camera with Suction Mount
GPS tracking can be an especially useful feature. The software will usually display information like travel speed and the locations of sudden starts or stops. There are even some models that have integrated turn-by-turn directional functionality. While the pricing may be a bit higher for something that your smartphone can do, a dedicated device does have the advantage of requiring no cellular data connection. This means it will work in areas with spotty to no cell coverage, and also won’t consume data if your usage is limited.
Transcend DrivePro 520 Car Recorder and GPS
If you’re buying a dash cam to monitor the driving habits of an employee, or maybe a new teen driver, you’ll certainly want to get a device with GPS tracking capability. You may want to get a device with audio recording capability to monitor for distracted driving behavior. You’ll almost certainly want to get a dual-camera device like the Dual View Car Camera System from BrickHouse Security.
BrickHouse Security Dual View Car Camera System
Dual-camera dash cams record video from two cameras simultaneously, one directed forward through the windshield and the other recording the passenger compartment. Some will have both camera sensors built into a single unit, while others might use a cable to connect the interior camera, allowing for additional mounting and positioning options. The rear-facing camera will usually have a wide field of view to allow recording of the driver and any passengers. It may also feature IR night vision recording so that it can capture video even in the dark, not relying on dim instrument panels for lighting. If a camera says it records IR night vision video, it’s a good idea to make note of whether any included IR emitters are built in or will require separate mounting.
Managing multiple vehicles can be made simpler with the correct software. If you’re going to be retaining and storing files from more than a few cameras, keep an eye out for descriptions that mention they’re suitable for fleet management. While you can certainly use just about any, having more robust management software can make a big difference in time and effort expenditures once you get above four or five drivers.

A dash cam gives you a second (and sometimes third) set of eyes on the road to record accidents and … [+] adventures.

The best dash cam for you depends on your wants and needs. How high a resolution are you after? Do you need some of the best front and rear dash cams, or just a great single cam for recording what’s in front of you? Are you looking to splash out on an expensive model, or are you more interested in saving a bit of cash? Do you need on board or cloud storage? What about crash detection? Whatever you’re looking for, here are some of the best dash cams available today with a variety of features and price tags.
Best Cloud Connected Dash Cam
BlackVue DR900S-2CH with 16GB Micro SD Card | Power Magic Pro Hardwiring Kit Included
BUY FROM AMAZON
- Resolution: 4K
- Viewing angle: 162 degrees
the BlackVue DR900S is one of the best dash cams by most any metric, but along with its support for ultra high definition (4K) resolution and a super wide 162-degree viewing angle, it offers a combination of onboard storage and cloud backup. Better yet, the service is entirely free. Connected over Wi-Fi (and LTE if you pay for the additional connectivity module), your footage is automatically backed up to the cloud so that you can look back over everything whenever you want using the BlackVue app. Better yet, you can check in with the camera at any time to see how your vehicle is doing.
For times when cloud connectivity isn’t possible due to signal issues, there’s 16GB of included storage too, though you can expand that up to 256GB if you like. This particular bundle also comes with a hardwiring kit to free up your 12v connector — the built-in voltage monitor makes sure that your battery is never entirely drained when in parking mode, either.
Video quality on both front and rear cameras is excellent, with support for the high-quality H.265 HEVC codec, as well as night vision, impact detection and motion detection so that crashes and suspicious activity are flagged in your cloud storage. The BlackVue app and website support Windows, MacOS, Android and iOS, so no matter what devices you have, you can check in on your footage and your vehicle from anywhere at any time.
Best Wide Angle Dash Cam
- Resolution: 1440p
- Viewing angle: 180 degrees
This compact little dash cam has an understated design, but the widest field of view of any dash cam out there. Its lens can capture 180 degrees, or just about everything in front of it, at any time. Its resolution doesn’t quite match that of some of the more expensive dash cams, but 1440p is plenty high for great quality video, only really showing its lack of sensor detail in night mode.
The backside features a 2-inch display for watching stored and live footage, as well as easing navigation through menus—controlled with the four side buttons. It also offers voice control, making it easy to control the dash cam while you’re driving without taking your eyes off the road. GPS and live image analysis give you warnings if you’re drifting out of your lane or are sat at a green light, and comprehensive image stabilization means all your recorded footage is smooth and steady throughout.
The Garmin 66W dash cam supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, making it easy to offload recorded videos to your phone or other compatible device using Garmin’s Drive app. There’s no cloud storage subscription system offered with this dash cam, but you do get a free year of red light and speed camera location tracking to warn you on approach. It costs $25 a month after that first 12 month period. The Garmin 66W is one of the best dash cams all round, but its wide viewing angle really stands apart from the more constrained viewpoints of its contemporaries.

Best Hidden Dash Cam
Thinkware Q800 Pro
- Resolution: 1440p
- Viewing angle: 140
Some dash cams can be large and bulky, if not actively intrusive. Not only can that be an eyesore for some drivers, but it can make the camera a target for thieves who may want to hide their tracks when breaking into your car. Stealthy dash cams like the Thinkware Q800 Pro can be a great option, as they’re less noticeable to both the driver and anyone else.
With no screen, and a shallow profile, you can tuck this camera away behind your rear view mirror and unless you’re actively looking for it, it’ll be hard to spot. The optional rear-facing camera is even smaller, too.
The Q800 Pro has a solid 2K/1440p resolution and a broad 140-degree viewing angle, giving you a grew view of everything it records and a much sharper picture than traditional 1080p dash cams. It also comes with the option of cloud connectivity, making the Q800 one of the best dash cams for helping to bring down the price of your insurance by proving your innocence in road accidents. It tags video with GPS and speed data, adding extra context to everything on screen, and can analyze footage to give you warnings about driving too close to the car in front, leaving your lane, or about upcoming red lights and speed cameras.
Best Magnetic Mounted Dash Cam
- Resolution: 4K
- Viewing angle: 161 degrees
The Kenwood A601W is one of the best dash cams you can buy for a variety of reasons. It supports ultra high definition 4K resolution, Wi-Fi connection support to seamlessly integrate with the Kenwood smartphone application (on iOS and Android), and support for HDR to improve visual clarity in high contrast lighting situations. Where this dash cam really stands out, though, is with its mounting solution.
The A601W comes complete with a quick-release magnetic mount that lets you detach the camera from its attachment arm easily with just one hand, great for hiding it away when it’s not in use or when you want to remove the included 64GB SD card to access recorded footage. The mounting arm fits to your windshield using a suction cup or adhesive pad, making this a versatile dash cam for fitting to your vehicle.
The built-in 3-axis G sensor and GPS receiver combine to offer reliable crash and impact detection, tagging the recently recorded footage as important and adding location and speed data—an excellent resource if you’re involved in an accident and want to provide your insurance company with proof that it wasn’t your fault.
Best Rear View Mirror Dash Cam
Wolfbox 12-inch Mirror Dash Cam
- Resolution: 1440p + 1080p
- Viewing angle: 170 degrees
The Wolfbox Mirror Dash Cam is a unique dash camera because it replaces your existing rear-view mirror. It is hooked on to it with included rubber straps or attached with screws, and gives you a 12-inch LCD display that can show you either of the two included cameras. One of them is on the back of the screen and gives you a view of the front of the vehicle through the windshield, while the other can be placed wherever you like. It’s typically used as a rear facing camera, but it could be used as a parking camera, or for watching kids in the back seats.
It’s also ideal if you often pull a trailer or camper van, where it’s hard to see behind you. This is the best rear-view mirror dash cam to let you see what’s going on back there.
The backup camera is waterproof so is easily usable outside, and both feature night vision so work just as well in the dark as they do at night. The front-facing camera is 1440p resolution and has a wide 170 degree viewing angle, while the backup camera is 1080p. Both offer excellent image quality and use WDR (wide dynamic range) technology to deliver accurate colors in dark and overlit environments. Smart features include GPS tracking, compass direction notifications, lane departure warnings, and automatic reversing lines, helping you line up with your parking space that bit more easily.
Best Front and Rear Dash Cam
Nextbase 622GW 4K
Nextbase 622GW Dash Cam Front and Rear Camera- Full 4K/30fps
BUY FROM AMAZON
- Resolution: 4K
- Viewing angle: 140 degrees
Winner of a number of media awards, the Nextbase 622GW offers one of the best dash cam usage experiences you can find. With crystal clear 4K video footage, support for 5GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and its own built-in 3-inch HD IPS touch screen, it ticks all the other boxes that many other cameras do (and then some). The stand out feature, however, is how well integrated the rear camera is.
Together they offer amazing image quality, working just as well on clear days as they do during more turbulent weather conditions. The 4K footage alone is excellent (1080p for the rear camera), but you can also use the built-in Super Slow Motion setting to slow everything down to 120FPS for greater moment-to-moment clarity if required. This feature is great for accidents or incidents where every frame matters in identifying someone or their vehicle.
Another reason the Nextbase 622GW is the best front and rear dash cam set you can buy is that it includes an innovative SoS accident and emergency feature. This Nextbase camera doesn’t just detect if you’ve had an accident, but can contact emergency services too. Better yet, it can leverage the what3words geocode system to pinpoint your location down to just a few meters, making it as easy as possible for the emergency services to find you. The feature is free for the first six months and costs a monthly fee afterwards.
Best Budget Dash Cam
- Resolution: 1080p
- Viewing angle: 170 degrees
At well under a quarter of the price of most of the other best dash cams, the Apeman C450 is in a whole league of its own when it comes to value for money. It features one of the widest viewing angles of any dash cam and still manages to record footage at 1080p, despite its low up front cost.
It works with loop recording, so records footage in chunks just a few minutes long and begins overwriting them when it runs out of space. With that in mind, using a larger (32GB maximum) SD card for footage recording is recommended. You can, however, adjust those settings or turn off loop recording entirely using the onboard button controls and 3-inch touchscreen. It’s not the most intuitive of dash cams and there are reports that the usual manual is hard to get your head around, but all the options you’d need are there; they just might take a little exploration to find.
Like some of the pricier dash cams, the Apeman C450 can detect crashes as they happen. When it does, it immediately locks down the video so that it cannot be overwritten, guaranteeing you’ll have something to show the authorities or insurance companies to show who was at fault.
Other handy features include capable night vision and a parking sensor, so it enters a low power mode to conserve your car’s battery. It also comes with a 45-day money back guarantee and a 12 month warranty, so if you run into any problems, they’re easy to rectify.
Are Dash Cams Worth It?
Absolutely, if they can fulfil a need you have. If you want to keep an eye on your car when its parked, a dash cam can do that. If you want to have a recording that you weren’t at fault when getting into an accident, a dash cam is a great idea. If you’d like some travel footage for your next VLOG, a dash cam is a simple, hands-free way to record it.
Modern dash cams are higher quality, more affordable, and easier to setup than ever before. They also come with a number of unique features, like GPS tracking, weather proofing, G sensors to note if you get into an accident (some will even contact emergency services for you) and sensors and smart detectors to help you park and stay in your lane. A dash cam is a great addition to any car, especially if you want to keep an eye on the road and your vehicle that bit better.
What should I look for in a dash cam?
The most important aspects of any dash cam is camera quality. The cheapest dash cams often have awful video quality, which is largely useless when it comes to insurance claims or tracking down someone who was involved but didn’t stick around. Make sure the camera you’re buying is at least 1080p, but higher resolution options are available if you want crisper video for noting finer details like driver faces.
Night vision is a good feature to look for too, especially if you plan to use the dash cam for security when your vehicle is parked. To that end, you may also need to find a camera with hardwiring support to guarantee it remains active when the engine isn’t turned on.
It’s also important to consider storage size and cloud connectivity. Most cameras operate on a looping recording, so that they overwrite their footage every few minutes, only making something permanent if some kind of event occurs, such as an accident. This ensures that you don’t fill your storage space with useless footage, but how much you record and how long the loops are, is dependent on the camera settings and how much local storage it has.
An alternative is to opt for a dash cam that connects to the cloud. That can be a great way to store larger amounts of footage, but also guarantees that if your camera is damaged or your car stolen, you can still access the footage from a different device.
How much space should you get in a dash cam?
It depends on much you want to record. A 32GB SD card should have more than enough space for most users, although there are dash cams that can take many more times that.
You can also consider multiple SD cards if you want to permanently store recorded footage on a large scale. Cloud connected dash cams don’t need as much space, although you’ll want to have 16GB of local storage at a minimum should you lose access to the internet for a period of time.

YuraCam YU-1000 Review: Inexpensive Korean 2-Channel
2 Korean channels – full premium functionality at the price of China
Conclusions: 2 Korean channels – full premium functionality at the price of China
It looks like Korean manufacturers in the Russian market have got a new competitor, actively dumping with new products. In the review, a new brand YuraCam, which, despite the covid crisis and the current course, plans to conquer the Russian market first, and then move on to foreign expansion.
2 for the price of 1 – it seems that such a slogan suggests itself, looking at the first model of the YuraCam brand YU-1000.2 channels, imx307 matrix, a full range of premium segment functionality (except for the cloud) and all this at a humane price. Appearance / convenience
Koreans do not differ in presentation packaging at all, except, perhaps, IROAD (and even then not in the latest models). So here too, packaging printing is a simple, dark red glossy box with a black top lid and a bunch of infographics. But inside, a durable foam lodgment that protects against damage during transportation is great. At the bottom of the box are accessories packed in neat transparent bags.
The main camera is made of black matte plastic, and the beautiful front panel simulates rough sandblasted metal. There are no prints left – great. There are no extraneous squeaks, the backlash of the case is easily available. There is also a slight rattling of the control keys. The body gaps are even, the casting is good.In appearance, the registrar can be firmly attributed to the model of the middle class. It seems that this is the reference point of the manufacturer.
Form factor – classic candy bar. And where to go with the screen? It is on the inside of the gadget, with a diagonal of 2.7 inches. Not a touchscreen, it is an ordinary LCD on a TFT matrix. There are also 4 navigation buttons, a work LED, a speaker mesh and a microphone point. An F / 1.8 aperture with a diagonal angle of 140 degrees should show a normal shooting result. We’ll see later.
The ends at the bottom and top near the matrix have many ventilation holes, which is good.On the left side, a memory card slot covered with a flap. Above are the power and rear camera connectors.
Rear camera with an angle of 130 degrees diagonally adjustable by rotating 360 degrees around its axis. The compact itself is black, attached to 3m tape, marked as R500HD, does not have LEDs for visual verification of operation.
Quick-detachable mount. The fact is, although it doesn’t look very good offhand, it is essentially convenient and reliable in operation. The removal mechanism is non-standard, the loaded latches need to be bent by pressing the buttons on the sides and pull the recorder down. The mount itself remains on the glass. When installing blindly, it is difficult to get out of habit, but everything comes after a dozen attempts.
Type of fixation on glass – 3M adhesive tape, helps to avoid vibrations and shaking when shooting. 3M is reliable – not Chinese. A spare is included.
Tilt angle . Like all Korean DVRs, the front camera is only vertically adjustable by the mounting screw and the teeth of the inner gear. The fixation is clear, without backlash. The tilt angle is enough even for completely vertical glass (buses, trucks, etc.) – a gap of about 1 cm, commendable.
The mount is medium in size. It does not make the DVR more massive and does not take up much space, but it cannot be called super compact either.
Power and cables for installation. What always pleases with Korean devices is direct 12-24v. No converters, adapters, just a classic fuse in the power plug.
The basic set includes a simple power cable for the cigarette lighter with 2-pin round plug, angled . Its length is 2.9m , which is unusual. Of course, this is enough for a standard connection. But if you want to pass the cable covertly, then everything will depend on the size of the car, it may turn out end-to-end.
Nevertheless, YuraCam engineers took this moment into account, you can separately purchase a parking 3-core cable, which is directly designed for hidden connection to the car’s on-board network (cabin fuse box).Since the Korean plug is often universal, so the options for thinkware, blackvue, iroad, gnet are most likely suitable (we tested the latter, the compatibility is complete). If the cigarette lighter cable has an angular plug, which is convenient (the cable does not bend), then the parking one should, in theory, have a straight plug. What it really is, we do not know, since we could not get it for the test.
The cable for connecting to the second camera is doing fine. It is very long ( 7.9 meters a) and has a different plug shape at the end.Suitable for installation even in the largest car. It is better to insert a straight plug into the head camera, since the cable will go up, under the ceiling and there will be no bending. The corner fits perfectly to the rear camera, thereby also eliminating kink during installation.
Usability. How convenient is it to use the DVR?
The navigation buttons are narrow, tactile and difficult to perceive, the pressing area is small. They are located at a distant distance from each other, and so that the control is intuitively understandable. The plug of the card slot is of no fundamental importance, the card is not taken out so often.
But what is really worth noting is the close and inconvenient location of the connectors on top of the end. Close to each other and to the mount. Due to this, the recorder has to be removed in a clear order. First, disconnect the rear camera wire, then power, and only then remove it from the mount.
LED indicator from the inside, well readable and visible from any angle. It displays the system processes and the normal recording (parking) process. For the convenience of indication, a plus.
Dimensions and visibility. You can’t hide the candy bar – that’s a fact. The diagonal of the screen was chosen so as to remove the device from the compact class, but at the same time not to become a massive and expensive Koreans with a touch screen. In general, it turned out to be a successful hybrid. Visible from the outside, but not immediately striking. Comfortable to use, yet lightweight. Judge for yourself, 105g with mount and 27mm case thickness. Length 103 like many brothers of this class.
Ideal mounting for is on the right or left side of the sensors, under the roof wire and up the post. Direct connection to the vehicle electrical system with a separate parking cable is recommended. The wires should not be bent at the connection points.
As a result: significant disadvantages are the usability of the buttons and the order of disconnecting the wires. You can complain a little about the design of the box, but in the end we will hang it on the glass. Among the pluses: I was surprised by the long cable of the second camera, good mount, thoughtfulness of the shape of the connection plugs.
- G-sensor, 3-axis shock / acceleration sensor
- Front camera exposure setting
- Recording bitrate settings
- Date and Speed Stamps
- Length of video
- View and delete files / photos on the screen
- Power controller for parking mode (timing and voltage shutdown)
- Overheating protection function
- Parking mode with pre-buffering for motion and impact (with hardwire kit)
- Screen mute, microphone mute on the fly
- Enabling and Configuring ADAS Elements
Screen and setup. All functionality is configured using buttons and a screen, since it is quite convenient to do this through a 2.7-inch screen. The matrix is not IPS, but quite good, the details of the interface are clearly distinguishable.
Heating tests . Cool – there are supercapacitors like any self-respecting manufacturer now. This means that neither in the cold nor in the heat there will be no problems, as it could be with conventional lithium batteries. The Ambarella A12 platform itself cannot boast of low heat generation, so the device heats up with 2 channels. It is quite tolerable – up to + 41g on the outer casing of the front camera.
Download in 2-channel mode – 11 seconds. Quite good indicators, during this time you can slowly start the engine, buckle up and start moving, the recorder will just turn on.
- at 1 channel good results – from 2.5W to 2.9W
- with 2 channels from 3.7W to 4.5W – average values
Usability Management .There are no problems with navigation and control – the buttons and menus are intuitive, no need to get used to. Internal attachments are a little confusing, not all are logically located, but the functions are simple, so it’s a matter of habit.
Switching between options and navigating through the menu is made convenient, 1 button to confirm operations and 2 navigation. You can always go to the main menu. All this is achieved due to the presence of a large number of control keys.
Features of the functionality and power supply
- there is an auto exit from the menu, after 5-7 seconds of inactivity
- Recording starts automatically when exiting the menu, at the moment there is no recording
- there is no connection to a computer via a cable
- , auto-functions are provided in the absence of action, such as: exit from the parking warning, reboot upon detection of the rear
The parking mode on the ambarella platform can be implemented with pre-buffering and that’s great. Here they did just that, although for some reason they limited the recording before the start of the event to 5 seconds. Perhaps in most situations this is enough, but it seems to us that if you put the classic 20 seconds, it will only be better.
Entrance to the parking by ignition (ACC). This means that a 3-core power cable is needed, consisting of ground, permanent plus and variable plus. As soon as the signal at the variable plus disappears (ACC, the engine is turned off), the recorder automatically goes into parking mode by itself. It is a convenient and secure login method used by thinkware, gnet, iroad, and other Korean vendors.
Parking cable is sold separately and is not included in the basic package, it must be purchased in addition. The usual cost of such a cable is about 1600r. At the same time, the YU-1000 recorder already has a built-in voltage and time power controller, which turns off the gadget so as not to drop the entire source.
The functionality itself is represented by 2 options:
- triggering by shock sensor (with sensitivity setting)
- Trigger on motion in the frame (with sensitivity setting)
There are no problems with impact and movement, it was catching normally. What’s great – when you exit the mode, that is, when you return to the car and start the engine, the recorder will show if any events have happened and what files were recorded in your absence.
GPS module . Ublox module, placed on the front panel with a wide antenna, which improves reception. The sensitivity is average, the recorder lost a signal a little in urban conditions, and once it could not start after a reboot. The tests were carried out both with and without heating.By the way, the presence of a built-in module is generally a rarity for Korean gadgets, usually it is external there.
GPS displays the speed on the video, and in the native player you can also see the track of movements on the Open Street Map.
No memory cards included. This makes the YU-1000 very different from other Korean DVRs. The maximum capacity of microSD cards, officially announced – 32GB. In fact, there is a note on the official website that the registrar supports larger cards, 64 or even 128GB, but formatted in FAT32.The thing is that by default such cards are already included in EXFAT, and you need a license to use it. The registrar does not know how to format cards with a volume of more than 32 with his own means.
There is a way out – you need to use special software such as guiformat and force format the 64 or 128GB card in FAT32. We checked it – everything works. Perhaps, in future firmwares there will be full support for larger cards without dancing with a tambourine. But keep in mind that with this method, the file system type flies when formatted inside the registrar and you will have to do everything manually again.
P / S The first deliveries include a 32GB memory card as a gift. Limited edition DVRs, supplier notified us.
PC application. There is a proprietary player for viewing YuraViewer, available for download on the manufacturer’s website . Works only under Windows, localized into Russian. Has the functionality of flipping the mirror image of the rear camera, the ability to view the route on the map with a speed display.
Rear camera . There is no on-the-fly connection, a reboot is required (notify about this). There is no LED for work – there will be no minus for this, since the device with a screen, if the rear camera turns off, the front one will inform itself about it, suggesting a reboot. When shooting, the camera has a mirror image of the picture (usually, this is used for a parking camera) and you cannot turn it off in the settings. But with the help of a native player, you can turn the picture as needed, already when viewing.
Identification. There is an LED indicator that shows the operating mode, or rather the presence of power, but not what exactly the recording is in progress. But to make sure that recording continues, you can only by a blinking icon on the screen and a sound signal at the start of recording. Overall, this is already good.
As a result: average time load, average consumption, average heat dissipation. The moments of auto-exit are taken into account, the necessary functionality is present. The parking mode is classic for top Koreans, with pre-buffering.Everything is there and everything in between, there is nothing outstanding. Of the minuses, the rear camera mirrors ..
The recorder is based on the Ambarella A12-A35 platform. It is not new, but still an expensive and powerful platform that can and should work with good bitrates up to 28-32 mbit / s. Also at the front camera we have the popular Sony Starvis IMX307 matrix, capable of shooting in FullHD @ 30fps. This is a simplified version of the IMX291, with a slightly shorter sensitivity range for night shooting. The rear camera here, alas, only shoots in HD @ 30fps. equipped with a conventional 1Mpx CMOS sensor and is more suitable for capturing a situation, but without details.
The shooting modes do not change in the settings, the device will always shoot in FullHD-HD @ 30fps for each channel. Storage container – .MP4, H.264 codec.
Bit rate . We mention in all our reviews that bitrate is just a fraction of the overall picture quality. But this is still one of the most important parts, whatever one may say.Everything is not bad here, especially the constant bitrate.
Let me explain. The device has 2 types of firmware – with an increased bitrate and with a normal one. In addition, in each operation, you can change the bit rate through the settings (3 options). In total, on firmware v304 with a higher bitrate at maximum settings, the numbers are as follows:
- front camera 22mbit mbit / s
- rear camera 10mbit / s
On test new firmware v305 is already better:
- front camera 35 mbit / s
- rear camera 12mbit / s
Sound 768kb / s, mono, 48 KHz.You can’t find fault with the sound, high bit rate, sensitive microphone, no extraneous noise.
Optimal settings. The default exposure is “0”. And surprisingly, this value does not need to be corrected with the correct angle setting, it is optimal. It is also surprising that the rest of the settings are all set optimally, the clips are 1 minute each, the correct time zone, the parking off and the low sensitivity level of the shock sensor.
- detail is average, despite the bitrate (+ -)
- color correction is good under normal conditions, but the rear camera has problems (+ -)
- Exposure metering works out of the tunnel with a delay (- +)
Freezes from originals
Firmware and localization, tech.support
Support . The YuraCam brand is completely new, this is its first model, so it’s too early to talk about the quality of support. In general, all the necessary attributes are in place, there is a free number 8-800, there is an email, a physical address in St. Petersburg and Korea, a support form on the official website yuracam.ru. By the way, there is a mirror of the site with the yura.cam domain – a very cool domain, well done.
Warranty 12 months for the device itself and 6 months for accessories – a standard solution for almost all brands.Service through shipment to the representative’s office and replacement with a new device. It is quick and convenient, there is no need to wait for repairs.
Firmware has already changed 4 orders and 6 numbers before release. The most stable now is v4.1.304-1. and the site does not post updates, but there is an informer, by subscribing to which all owners will receive an update for download in a timely manner. Conveniently, this is a plus.
And it’s not just that – the developer has 2 firmwares, one with a normal bitrate, and the other with an increased one, up to 35mbit / s for the front camera and 12 mbit / s for the rear one.Regular firmware is perfect for those who travel to long distances or in commerce and it is not the quality that is important, but the volume of files on the card. But we recommend High Bitrate firmware to everyone else.
Instruction is excellent. It is not often that you will find such a detailed and understandable manual in DVRs. Although the book is not colored, it is very decent and stress-free to study. Completely in Russian. You can download it on the official website in electronic form .
Localization of the menu is also good, all items are translated almost correctly, there were no phrases in Korean.
Complete set and accessories
The YuraCam YU-100 comes with everything. Head camera, rear camera, power cable to the cigarette lighter, cable for connecting to the second camera, spare 3M adhesive tape 2pcs, wiring clips in sufficient quantity (oh, they didn’t regret, there’s a scattering of them here), instructions with a warranty card.
Finally, a nice bonus – the first 200 pieces that go to stores will be equipped with a 32GB microsd memory card. You can find them by a special sticker on the box.And the second nice bonus is that all kits have a microsd OTG USB adapter. A trifle, but great. It will be of great help if you want to make a copy of the file to your phone.
Among add. accessories, which can be purchased separately, there is only a parking cable (hardwire kit) with a cost of 1500-1800r. It has not yet appeared on sale, but it has already been tested with us. The length of the wire is about 3 meters, this is enough for any hidden installation.
YuraCam YU-1000 costs as promised at the beginning of the year – 11 990 rubles .It is a good sign that the value will remain stable, in contrast to the same blackvue, which, as usual, jumped + 25% when the ruble began to decline.
The price is really affordable. Perhaps this is the most affordable 2-channel for Koreans with such functionality on the Russian market, even despite the weak rear HD camera. No, just the most affordable. We simply did not find a cheaper Korean.
At first, the main parameters for the selection of competitors were – 2 channels, price and produced in Korea. But it turned out that at such a price, there are simply no Korean 2 channels on the Russian market, only locally in Korea itself you can buy Gnet or Iroad simpler. Therefore, we took the most affordable side by side, adding a couple of Koreans.
- Viofo A129 Duo – 11 590r
- BlackVue DR590 2CH – 19 490r (Korea)
- Thinkware F200 – 20 490R (Korea)
- Roadgid CityGo 2 – RUB 10 490
- CarCam combo 5s – 11,990 rubles
- TrendVision mini 2ch – 11 000 rub
- Fujida Karma Duos – RUB 12,990
- Mio MiVue C380D – 11,990 rubles
Among cons of :
- some usability issues – buttons, checkout order
- Rear Camera Shooting Quality, Mirror Image
- Support for large memory cards only in FAT32
- price – for 2 channel Korean it’s cheap
- wide functionality – here adas, controller, overheating protection
- parking with pre-buffering, built-in gps
- matrix Sony Starvis IMX307
- good preparation for localization
Personal impressions : It seemed to us that this is a good trial balloon in the line of future gadgets from YuraCam, which now requires minor changes in the firmware.Otherwise, the full functionality is just like the premium models. Here you have a power controller (for such an external device, blackvue, for example, wants 3600r separately, this is almost 30% of the cost of the YU-1000) and protection against overheating, 4 ADAS elements and pre-buffering in the parking lot. A good, albeit inexpensive, Starvis matrix complements the picture. But the main advantage here, of course, is the price for made in Korea.
YuraCam YU-1000 video recorder for testing was provided by the official importer in Russia, YuraCorp .We thank the guys from yura.cam for the fact that despite all the obstacles, oil, course, epidemics, they continue to work and offer new solutions at affordable prices. We know this is not easy.

Dual Channel Car Recorder Testing
A good car recorder not only provides high quality recordings, but also convenient operation and thoughtful design. We tested the BlackVue DR900S-2CH, one of the most innovative devices on the market.
BlackVue is a Korean brand specializing in the production of car tape recorders. The manufacturer’s current offer includes about a dozen devices and special accessories. BlackVue recorders are also available in Poland along with full documentation and warranty service. With the permission of the manufacturer, we had the opportunity to get acquainted with the BlackVue DR900S-2CH, the which is the flagship model from the offer.
BlackVue DR900S-2CH – kit and accessories
The recorder is sold in a small cardboard box with two cameras and a large package of accessories inside. Add-ons include spare mounting strips, fixing tool, adhesive cable holders, user manual, charger, communication cable, wireless data sticker, 16GB memory stick, and USB memory card reader.
BlackVue DR900S-2CH – specifications and parameters
Front 8MP camera got OmniVision converter. This allows the device to record 4K image at 30fps or FullHD video at 60fps. The used optics provide visibility in the range of 162º. The second camera is a Full HD device with Sony Starvis sensor recording at 30fps with 139 ° visibility.
The recorder is capable of handling memory cards with a maximum capacity of 128 GB. Instead of a battery, the manufacturer used a high-capacity supercapacitor to maintain power for the time required to complete the recording of the sequence. Of course, the constant power comes from a charger plugged into the car’s cigarette lighter socket. Equipment BlackVue DR900S-2CH also includes built-in Wi-Fi and GPS. A motion sensor and a shock sensor provide added safety. The first one will allow you to log any unusual activity that occurs during a shutdown, and the second one protects your data from being overwritten in the event of an accident. The specification is complemented by a built-in speaker that allows you to listen to voice prompts regarding the operation of the recorder (in Polish).
BlackVue DR900S-2CH – Construction and Installation
Cylindrical cameras are permanently installed directly on the windshield of the vehicle. Adequate adhesion in this case is ensured by 3M soft tapes, which should not leave marks even when disassembled after a long period of time. The used knobs allow you to freely adjust the angle at which the image will be recorded. The role of the control panel in this case is played by the front camera. It has a mechanical protection with a button that allows you to remove the camera from the holder. In addition, on its case, we will find indicators informing about the operation of the device and the activity of communication modules. On one side of the device, there are wire covers, a switch, and a microSD card slot hidden under the cover.
After attaching the cameras to the front and rear windshields of the car, we need to connect the device to a power source and install the communication cable. The manufacturer offers to run cables directly on the seals and in the ceiling sheathing. Such procedures require a longer time for the accurate dismantling of the upholstery fragments, but at the same time provide a high aesthetics of the installation.
BlackVue DR900S-2CH – Record and Operate
The voice recorder can be started immediately after inserting a memory card and connecting the power source. Recording starts automatically when the device is turned on. Active functions and information about settings are transmitted by the voice of the Polish language teacher.A single switch allows you to enable or disable the Wi-Fi module, restart settings, and format the SD card. In addition to the mechanical button, on the other hand, there is a touch sensor, to which we can assign either a voice recording function or protection and selection of recording when registering the so-called manual mode.
BlackVue DR900S-2CH does not have a built-in display. The easiest way to get a live preview and view previously recorded footage is to connect the recorder to your smartphone via Wi-Fi.The manufacturer provides a free app that allows you to effectively connect your devices.
A distinctive feature of the top models cameras BlackVue is compatibility with the Blackvue Cloud service. This allows remote viewing of the recorded image (in real time) and provides access to previously recorded recordings. In addition, thanks to its application, you can track the GPS of the car, use two-way voice communication or receive warning signals related to the operation of the motion sensor and shock sensor. The recorder must be connected to a car router to activate the cloud service.
The whole procedure is extremely intuitive and is based on the same app we use for direct Wi-Fi connections.
Video materials are saved in the device memory as MP4 files with H.265 / H.264 codecs. The recorded content is of exemplary quality. Images from the front camera are especially good, impressive with their detail and wide viewing angles. The sound quality is also good.

BlackVue DR900S-2CH – At a Glance
BlackVue DR900S-2CH is the device for the most demanding users. Dual-channel cameras provide exemplary sound and image quality. Motion and shock sensors provide increased safety. The GPS and WiFi modules are also noteworthy. The former supplements the recording with location data, while the latter allows the camera to be controlled via a smartphone. However, the biggest advantage is having a revolutionary cloud service – it is an ideal solution for monitoring business vehicles or vehicles handed over to a young driver.
