Kl rooftop bar: 16 Best Rooftop Bars in KL

View Rooftop Bar at G Tower Hotel KLCC

The Al Fresco Bar, Champagne Room and Whisky Lounge

By far the best seats in the house are at the al fresco bar. The no-fuss, airy wooden terrace beside the long bar offers a fantastic panorama of the city. Here, the décor is very NYC chic, with white and beige oversized sofas and lots of potted plants.

Then there are the two stylish and modern indoor bars. The furnishings in the Champagne Room are modern but minimal, with standing tables by the bar and light panels in the walls that change colour and wash the place in neon green as well as blue and pink light, giving it a futuristic feel.

Music & Drinks

The music alternates between jazz and easy listening favourites in the early evenings to techno and pop as the night wears on. There is a strict dress code here (no sneakers or ripped jeans) but the club’s friendly and down-to-earth service has you feeling completely at ease.

Besides wines, beers and spirits, View Rooftop Bar has a neat list of inventive cocktails, like the teh tarik cocktail – a sweet creation with a smooth, milky taste that is very refreshing. For more traditional cocktails, the Absolut south beach (a lemon-infused cocktail that is really sour) and the Absolut pineapple cardamom martini, which is sweet and sour with a slightly-spicy kick to it, come highly recommended.

Meanwhile, the Whisky Lounge has oversized leather sofas that make this area a great place to chill out at for a while with a cocktail in hand. There is an artistic centrepiece here – the Glenlivet Spiral (an arrangement of whisky bottles hanging from the ceiling in the shape of a corkscrew) – that makes for a great photo.

Heli Lounge Bar in Kuala Lumpur

Helipad Rooftop Bar

The layout at Heli Lounge Bar is uncomplicated with a lounge downstairs and bar on the rooftop: two flights of stairs from the lounge on the 34th floor leads up to the 36th floor rooftop stunner. There are no rails, no walls and no boundaries of any kind to stop you from going over the side of this wide open space so be sure to stay far away from the edge (we are not that brave, so we stayed pretty close to the stairway).

It really looks like the sort of spot where you should get close to the rim, fling your arms out Titanic-style (it helps if you are here with a significant other) and shout out “I’m King of the World!” You will have to endure bewildered looks from other patrons, as well as the staff members, but hey it is all in good fun.

The views for the top can only be described as rewarding – it is so gratifying to have made it to this ‘secret’ spot to see the sunset and even more satisfying if you have your camera with you to grab a few fantastic photos.

Heli Lounge Bar is set directly across from the KL Tower and you will be hard pressed to snap better pictures of the city skyline than from here.

One thing to note, you will need to arrive between 18:00 – 21:00 to access the rooftop bar for free.

The Lounge

The lounge downstairs can accommodate 180 people and is pretty quirky with aeronautically-themed furnishings and fixtures – think plane propellers bolted to the walls, heavy red drapes, lots of black leather furniture and large black-and-white floor tiles. If you arrive early, you may hear some jazz but since the place operates more as a nightclub than a chill-out lounge, the music usually segues into R&B and house tunes later on at night.

Drinks wise you will find the usual selections of spirits, beers and cocktails at Heli Lounge Bar, with friendly waiters dressed up in spiffy pilots’ uniforms waiting to serve these reasonably-priced (starting at RM18 net) beverages. Flight crew, the oil and gas crew and banking professionals get special discounts on select nights, but our favourite night to visit is Thursdays for Ladies’ Night when the fairer sex gets to enjoy any cocktails off the menu (including lychee martinis) for only RM15.

Is This the Best New Rooftop Bar in the Muslim World?

How many bars are active helicopter pads by day and top-ranked clubs by night? Heli Lounge Bar sits in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. For the record, Kuala Lumpur is Malay for “confluence of mud,” originally inspired by the swampy rivers that come together where the city sits. The name fits today more than ever: The booming capital is nothing if not a confluence of influences.

The native Malay, Chinese and Indian flavors all figure into the food with delicious results. Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus and Christians all enjoy a significant presence here, and people from around the world gather to shop, make business deals or drop anchor permanently—it’s a top-10 relocation destination worldwide. Aptly named Food Street is a bucket-list place to visit by itself.

A Rooftop Among Rooftops

Top-floor bars happen to be the city’s strength. Standouts in the category number a dozen, at least, including Luna Bar (with two stories of lofty hospitality, 34 floors up) and Sky Bar (with an indoor pool and floor-to-ceiling windows) ranking among the best. But it’s Heli that has risen to the heights of TripAdvisor’s list of the area’s tourist destinations, despite zero marketing work or even a simple website.

Heli Lounge Bar

The backdrop is a big reason why. The Kuala Lumpur skyline—its silhouette running like an EKG between the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and soaring KL Tower and beyond—can rival any on the planet. Heli’s view is the only 360-degree one in town, 57 floors up, almost a kilometer in altitude. On it, you’ll find pod-like seating huts, day beds, cocktail tables and four-tops. “The view is everything,” says manager Telvince Tana. “There’s no obstruction, not even a glass panel. It’s open to the elements.”

While that can mean that the occasional thunderstorm scoots people off the landing, it also means dazzling sunsets. “Every day, it’s a different sunset,” says Tana. “You’re in the city center, only you don’t get the noise or interruptions; it’s still very much Kuala Lumpur. It’s a good place to reflect and think about life.”

Aside from the View

There are other qualities to think about, including a lower floor appointed with glass walls, aviation gear and chunks of fuselage; and affordable drinks—something that’s uncommon in a country that taxes alcohol heavily and allows limited wholesale outposts.

Tana created the drinks. He ranks the Hellusion as his favorite, a mix of vodka, coconut rum, fresh pineapple and lemon juice, plus a splash of triple sec. Other eye-catchers from his sublist of aptly named “Gasoline” drinks include the Jet Fuel, with vodka, rum and mint; the White Skirt, with white wine, pineapple and a lively lychee liqueur; and the Red Baron, with vodka, red wine, orange juice and green tea that turns out to be unsurprisingly high-octane but also surprisingly balanced.

Heli Lounge Bar

Local vlogger, veteran Kuala Lumpur tour guide and hard-core foodie Nik Nadzru Iskandar is among those who understand why it has become a cult hit without any publicity to speak of. He acknowledges its watering hole singularity in a Muslim nation like Malaysia that’s religious and “tolerant to the needs of its multicultural, multireligious denizens, with an innovative entrepreneurial spirit and a deep-rooted penchant for capitalism to boot.”

‘You’re not here for the awesome interior decor like other KL sky bars—it’s a helipad for fuck’s sake—or for intricately designed drinks,” says Iskandar. “Instead, you’re here for the complete aerial view of Kuala Lumpur as the sun is setting all around you and the metropolis slowly comes alive in a ‘Bright Lights, Big City’ moment.”

On a clear day, he says, visitors can see all the way to the fringes of the city, suburbia on one end and the Titiwangsa Range, which forms the spine of Peninsular Malaysia, on the other. Visitors would be wise to avoid it on a stormy day, prioritize weeknight trips to skip the crowds and get there before 9 p.m., when the dress code kicks in and casual clothing is less welcome.

90,000 Rooftop Bar – Sea of Discovery

In this post, you will find out where in Kuala Lumpur are the bars that offer amazing views of the city and the Petronas Towers.

“Luna Bar” is located relatively close to the Petronas towers (15 minutes on foot – you need to go towards the TV tower). It is she who is the neighbor of the Pacific Regency Hotel Suits.

The club is located on the 34th floor of the hotel. The bar itself has two floors – the main one (this is a small bar counter, a swimming pool, a DJ booth, tables), and the second floor is a bar counter and sofas.

The bar is open to visitors from 19 hours. Prices for cocktails – from 35 ringit. Please note that from 21:30 the entrance to the bar on Fridays and Saturdays is paid (50 ringit – one drink is included in the price). By the way, the recommended clothes are “semi-formal”, the beach version is not suitable here!

But during the daytime the bar is closed – the hotel guests on the rooftop enjoy sunbathing, splashing in the pool and, of course, admiring Petronas.

And it is assumed that no one “from the outside” should disturb the guests. But we managed to get into the territory – having greeted the reception staff (which is located at the main entrance), we went to the elevator with confident faces and went up to the roof. And there no one asked us any questions – and we arranged small gatherings at one of the tables. The view is pleasant. Towers – at a glance …

But, however, there is a drawback: one tower overlaps the other. Therefore, it was decided that for the night panorama we will go to another bar …

The bar is located on the 33rd floor of the Traders hotel-tower (it is perfectly visible if you stand in front of the dancing fountains of Petronas, with your back to the towers themselves; walking distance to the hotel for about five minutes).Let’s be honest, we didn’t find the entrance and the elevator we needed right away – the hotel is very large. But the hotel staff kindly advised us.

So, a few words about the bar: the average bill is 70 ringit. Opening hours: Sun-Thu. from 10.00 to 1.00; Fri-Sat from 10.00 to 3.00 From the windows of the bar, which is located on the 33rd floor, a stunning view of the Petronas Twin Towers opens.

By the way, in 2009 it was the Sky bar that received the title of “Best Bar in Malaysia”. And there is a reason! A decorative pool, stylish decoration, pleasant music and a gorgeous panorama …

However, it is not so easy to be at the desired table by the window overlooking the towers: priority is given to hotel guests. Therefore, there are several options: either to reserve a table on the website in advance, or to wait for one of the guests to finish their meal. From my own experience, let’s say the second option is very unreliable. Therefore, here is the bar’s website address: skybar.com.my

The view from the panoramic windows of the Sky Bar made a very deep impression on me – I didn’t want to leave. And if I ever return to Kuala Lumpur, I will definitely spend one of the evenings here again!

90,000 New Year 2016 in Kuala Lumpur – ChopachO

New Year 2016 we decided to celebrate in the capital of Malaysia – the metropolis of Kuala Lumpur. Why Kuala Lumpur? There are hotels with rooftop pools and a bunch of skyscrapers from where you can watch fireworks, and then you can go to any bar or restaurant, fortunately, there is enough of this good in the city.Italian, Japanese, Chinese restaurants, American bars with Australian steaks and French wine, Thai snacks and Turkish sweets – in Kuala Lumpur, food lovers and walkers can find everything, or almost everything. And we also became friends with the good girl Katy, who is the manager of one of the hotels in Chinatown, so New Year’s Eve in a deluxe room cost us only $ 19.

In the post, we talked about how we spent New Year’s Eve 2016 in Kuala Lumpur, gave a couple of tips for those who plan to celebrate New Year 2017 or even 2018 here and suggested where you can stay and not go broke. We also tried to figure out whether it is even worth going to the capital of Malaysia for the New Year.

  • Our New Year 2016
  • General information about the holiday in Kuala Lumpur
  • Where to stay (no overpayments for holidays)

Our New Year 2016

December 31st began with the fact that we were running around the shops in search of boiled potatoes, peas and other ingredients for the “Winter” salad. I really wanted to make a purely Russian salad – to tear off a piece of that home comfort that we sometimes miss. All the ingredients were missing, so we bought sushi. Here is such an unexpectedly cardinal change of the New Year’s table 🙂 Our whole life is like this – you plan one thing, and you buy / do / find something completely different. This is the romance of life on a journey, you never know what awaits you around the corner. Taking a couple more ready-made salads, candles and a bottle of wine, we threw it all at the Dragon Inn Premium Hotel and ran to the city center to look for skyscrapers.

The city is beautifully decorated: trees and New Year’s paraphernalia are everywhere.

Skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur, apparently invisible, we needed one that can be easily climbed onto the roof, while remaining unnoticed by the guards. We decided that there would be a great view of the fireworks from the skyscraper, and nobody canceled the romance of a night adventure – a secret stay on the roof of a beautiful building. We already have a positive experience, in 2014, while living in Bangkok, we successfully practiced forays on the roofs of the city, we even talked about it and shared a couple of life hacks:

In Kuala Lumpur, we acted according to the same scheme – we find a hotel or condo with a glance, we make sure that the building is higher than 30 floors and has beautiful views in the area, we go in, we go to the elevators, we click on the top floor, we get out, we find the next elevator, which goes even higher, if there is no such thing, then we are looking for a ladder, we go up as high as possible, we see the door to the roof, we leave, we enjoy the beautiful views. As you can see, everything is very simple. We do not choose office or commercial buildings, like banks, because there is good security and at the entrance, as a rule, they ask where we are going to go (we can see that we are not office plankton). Some elevators have a trick – you can use it only by attaching a key card, and sometimes, having overcome all the obstacles, we found the door to the roof closed.

As a result, after 2 hours of searching, we found one great option – the roof of the UBN Tower condo (mark on the map) and one so-so option.Satisfied with ourselves, we spent the rest of December 31 in blissful doing nothing, since there is no need to cook anything, and it took me 15 minutes to prepare a simple New Year’s makeup and an elementary hairstyle (anyway, in the stuffy night after half an hour and good makeup will flow and hair will wet).

2 hours before the solemn fireworks, we left the house and realized that it was necessary to get out in 4 hours. The people were in darkness. The metro is overcrowded, and in the center, especially cunning spectators took the best places right on the road, so that the fireworks could be clearly seen at 00:00.

The TV tower began to wink merrily, shining with all the colors of the rainbow. Handsomely.

Pushing our way through the crowd of locals and tourists, we found that it was already 11:30 pm and there was still a run and run to the UBN Tower condo. Rushing to the condo at 11:45 p.m. there was a big bummer. The security guard, whom we had not seen during the day, suddenly decided to ask where we were in a hurry, perhaps to the hotel? Of course, to the hotel, we answered briskly, thinking that the unknown hotel was in the same building as the condo we needed.Well then, to you in the neighboring building, the guard gave out and left, locking the door behind him. The excellent roof of the UBN Tower is covered with a copper basin. We had no choice but to follow the advice of the guard and go to the neighboring hotel, fortunately, it is in a skyscraper literally at 50 roof. For some reason, there were a bunch of doors. And they all did not go to the roof. I didn’t even ask Denis how long it was, it is clear that there were literally a few minutes left until the cherished 00:00.The hope to meet the fireworks was melting before our eyes. And so, I washed myself at the next door, it did not give in, it was closed. This is a failure. This was the last door. Maybe I just don’t have the strength to open this door? – flashed through my head. And it was not for nothing that Denis, a gallant guy, opened the door for a reason, and behind it there was … ta-daaam, the roof! How we ran along it, how we opened wine, sushi and salads – it was necessary to see, the Lightning Man is resting.

In a nearby skyscraper, music rumbled, the lead into the microphone was counting the seconds, and now, at 00:00, the fireworks began!

He wasn’t as cool as we expected. But compared to the fact that we could now stand in the hotel corridor, not knowing where to go further, our current position seemed simply gorgeous. Why, I’m pestering myself, the music was playing, the fireworks were bombing, we, completely forgetting about the candles and all the romance, drink the first glass of wine in one gulp and greedily eat a pack of sushi. New 2016 has begun 🙂

Someone even met the New Year in a traffic jam.

Our adventure with the roof was a success and we decided to go down to the ground and see how the fun was going on there.Going down to the 1st floor of the hotel, we heard excellent live singing and high-quality sound. It is necessary to turn in the direction of the sound and see what happens there. And there was a party for the residents of the hotel, so we went there.

Modern hits and hits of the 80s rang in the ears, vacationers were culturally resting, we also decided to join the fun. Cool music, a beautiful hall and a festive atmosphere – what else do you need for a great New Year?

After dancing, we finally went out into the street and went for a walk around the city.We did not walk for a long time, as another bar with a good sound attracted our attention. There were only guys on the dance floor. Seriously, the girls sat modestly and smiled, while I was the only one to dilute the purely male company of dancing.

At this we decided that we had enough and we went home, to the side. The celebration was successful 🙂

General information about the holiday in Kuala Lumpur

As such, there is no New Year’s program in Kuala Lumpur. People walk the streets, congratulate each other, blow pipes and throw themselves in serpentines. There are no shows or carnivals. The people with the whole family are greeted with fireworks and go to restaurants to continue the fun. Malaysians are a teetotal people and there are almost no drunks on the streets, and if there are, they are tourists. And those, seeing how decently the locals behave, are not particularly joking. So walking around the city at night, even with a child, will not be at all scary, children on the street – the sea, but broken bottles, garbage and drunken bodies were not observed even in the midst of the fun.

During New Year’s Eve, the metro worked around the clock, which was very convenient.Large shops were open until 9 pm. Should you nag on New Year’s Eve in Kuala Lumpur?

Worth it if you can’t afford Hong Kong or Singapore 🙂 Here you can celebrate in excellent conditions and not at all as expensive as in other Asian cities. Just keep in mind that no one will entertain you especially, you need to find something to do on your own. Well, it is not customary to drink heavily here, this must also be taken into account.

Where to stay (no overpayments for holidays)

Practically all hotels on holidays expose housing prices 1.5-2 times higher than usual. This is normal practice. On New Year’s Eve, we stayed at the Dragon Inn Premium Hotel for $ 19 per day, the real holiday price was 2 times higher. But we were just lucky – we had already stayed at this hotel for a long time, we began to communicate well with the manager and she made us a big discount. Before we received a trump card from the manager, I was looking for housing on AirBnb and this is what I found out: whoever does not raise prices during the holiday period are private traders who rent out their homes. I’m not talking about intermediaries and realtors who are just waiting for the holiday dates with great joy, I’m talking about ordinary people who rent out their own homes. As practice has shown, all those with whom I wrote off in Kuala Lumpur did not raise prices for the New Year.

Here are some recent proposals:

  • A room in an apartment with a private bathroom. $ 11 per day.

There is an equipped kitchen for use and a living room. The room has a desk, bed and everything you need. The view from the window is awesome, the area is good – Bukit Bintang. The condo has a free pool and gym.

P.S.While this post was being written, almost all the dates in this apartment have already been taken, and the price has doubled, like this, good offers are sorted out like hot cakes, and the owner, realizing this, raises the price.

Everything is the same as in the first version, only new furniture, designer interior, garden and rooftop pool.

Similar conditions as in the first 2 variants, only this time the whole apartment is rented.

I just gave a few options, so that it was clear that through the Internet, housing in Kuala Lumpur can be found and it is of good quality. Here are actual offers from owners and realtors. Choose those people who have only 1 rental offer – this is most likely the owner.

Don’t forget to sign up for AirBnb using our link and get $ 20 free. And here is a detailed description of how we rent housing through this site.

Have a great holiday in Kuala Lumpur!

As a rule, roof racks consisting of two crossbars are in the highest demand. They are popular because of their versatility, such roof racks are suitable for any car.The structure of such roof racks includes aluminum elliptical and steel rectangular profiles.

Roof boxes

Snow and rain will not interfere with your sports equipment with car boxes. The neat, pleasantly designed boxes are attached to two crossbars, as a result, they are suitable for any car. Car boxes can be removed from the roof if desired. When transporting the boxes, so that the load does not fall out, they are locked. Car boxes come in various shapes, colors, dimensions and carrying capacity. On similar car boxes, it is possible to transport anything – fisherman’s tools, tents, sports equipment.

If there is a need to transport a bicycle, there are special bicycle racks. They are very convenient and have three types. The first type is the roof box. To the second – boxing on the towbar. And, finally, the box on the rear door of the car belongs to the third type. For the transport of sports equipment, for example, ski equipment, snowboards, there are their own car racks.Such trunks are of two types. Some, which are attached, are peppered, while others are magnetically attached to the roof of the car. There are special cargo baskets for the transportation of bulky items. Freight the basket is attached to the crossbars of your car trunk.

A pleasant feature of modern boxes is their design. The car and the box for cargo transportation are one whole, not “disfiguring” the design of the car. The positive qualities of boxing include its safe constructive force. The quality and reliability of cargo delivery is ensured by the world’s leading manufacturers in the production of machine accessories.
