How long after you shave can you wax: How To Switch From Shaving To Waxing, According To A Hair Removal Expert

FAQ – The Pretty Kitty

What is a Brazilian?

The Brazilian wax originated in a place where tiny bikinis are worn and the incredible rate at which it has gained in popularity can leave little doubt that there is truly something special about it. The Brazilian wax basically takes it ALL away sometimes leaving just a tiny strip of closely shorn hair in the front (which is then referred to by some as a “landing strip”, a “playboy” or inverted “v”).

What can I do to prepare?

Avoiding caffeine for 5 hours before getting waxed will greatly reduce sensitivity. Caffeine restricts the blood vessels so skin is not getting as much blood flow which increases sensitivity. Taking an Ibuprofen 1 hour before will aid in reducing sensitivity and inflammation. We also carry PFB topical anesthetic which you may purchase and apply 15-20 min. before your appointment.

Does it hurt?

There is some discomfort involved, however most women find it quite tolerable. Our estheticians work quickly and because of our proprietary technique the pain is greatly minimized.

How long should I wait to get waxed after I’ve shaved?

3-4 weeks is recommended. It takes time to grow out each of the 3 cycles. If you come in prematurely you may not achieve a desirable result.

How often should I make an appointment?

We recommend booking every 6 weeks.

Is it OK to shave between wax appointments?

Waxing slows down and reduces hair growth. Hair also grows much thinner thus making it easier to remove and less painful when waxed. Shaving just one time in between will negate all that is gained from waxing and can further irritate follicles which can cause ingrown hair. So, no, we don’t advise shaving in between.

How long will it last?

If you have been shaving, there may be a transition period. It generally requires 2-3 consistent waxes to achieve optimal results which are: 3-4 weeks of hairlessness, softer hair, and less hair growing back. If you haven’t been shaving prior to getting waxed, these results may be obtained more quickly.

I’m on my period. Can I get waxed?

If possible, avoid scheduling your appointment just before or during your menstrual cycle. We recommend this only because we tend to be most sensitive during this time.

How long does it take?

Our experienced estheticians move quickly. The Brazilian itself should take no longer than 10 to 15 min.

What can I expect afterwards?

The waxed skin might be tender for a couple of days. We advise taking Ibuprofen to decrease inflammation and skin sensitivity.

What can I do about ingrown hair?

Exfoliating in the shower with a body brush everyday helps to keep the skin free from cellular buildup which can trap hair. We carry PFB which helps to prevent and clear the skin of ingrown hair.

Is waxing sanitary?

Yes! In concern for your health we never double dip our wax sticks. Never!!

Are there any topical creams or medications that I should avoid prior to getting waxed?

Yes! Internal Medication such as Accutane and topicals that include Retin-A, Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid,Differin,Tazorac,Avage,Strivectin,Renova,ProActive,Avita,Benzoyl Peroxide. All of the above mentioned can enhance skin sensitivity that could lead to lifting of the skin when removing hair.

Can I tan before or after I get waxed?

You should wait 3-5 days to get waxed after you have tanned. You should never get waxed if you are sunburned or even if skin is pink. The very top layer of skin could pull off or “lift” which is painful and can result in scabbing. You should wait for 3 days after you have waxed to tan. Waxed skin is more photosensitive and is more susceptible to burning.

Do I need an appointment?

We do accept walk-ins however we recommend scheduling in advance so as to avoid an extended wait. Please be aware that we book our brow and Brazilian appointments every 15 min. Please be early or on time to avoid losing your appointment. If you’re unable to keep an appointment we appreciate calling within 24 hours prior if possible. If your service is 1/2 hour or longer we may request a credit card number to hold your appointment. You will not be charged unless you fail to cancel within 24 hours.

Is it alright to bring my child?

We have a no child policy for children under the age of 8 UNLESS they are accompanied by an adult NOT receiving a service. Thank you for your understanding.

Are there any age restrictions?

All services may be performed on clients from 15-17 years of age with a signed parent consent form. We do not offer the Brazilian to clients under the age of 15, however all other waxing services are available with a signed parent consent form (available at our locations) and accompanied by a parent for the service.

Do You Provide Services to Men?

The Pretty Kitty provides body waxing services for men and men who identify as women with the exception of the Brazilian and buttocks areas. We do not offer Brazilian or buttocks waxing to anyone that has male genitalia.

FAQ – Brazilian Wax Expert

Q. Why Wax?
Waxing, unlike shaving, removes hair directly from the roots leaving your skin nice and smooth for weeks.

Q. How long does the hair need to be?
For best results, the hair length should be ¼ inches long. When in doubt, it is better the hair be longer than shorter.

Q. How often should I get waxed?
The recommended time between waxing is 5 weeks.

Q. I just shaved, how long should I wait before getting waxed?
The recommended time after shaving is 3 weeks.

Q. I am going on vacation, how soon before should I get waxed?
The recommended time before going on vacation or preparing for any big event (i.e. wedding day) is 2-3 days. This will allow any redness to pass.

Q. Will I be put in any awkward positions?
Not at all. All my services require you to be laying on either your front or your back.

Q. I’m a waxing virgin, what should I expect?
Don’t be shy. There’s a first time for everything! I will walk you through the entire process step by step. Remember three important facts: 1. No, you are not the hairiest person ever. 2. Yes, you are normal down there. 3. No, you are not too old to get waxed.

Q. Bikini, Brazilian—What’s the difference?
Bikini removes hair from just the sides. Brazilian removes everything- front, back and everything in-between.

Q. Strip wax or hard wax—What’s the difference?
Strip wax removes hair using a cotton strip. Hard wax hardens when it is applied, shrink-wraps around the hair and is removed without the aid of cotton strips taking the hair with it. Hard wax is great for coarse hair and sensitive areas.

Q. Do you double dip?
Never. I take every step to ensure the highest level of sanitation.

Q. Can I get waxed while I’m on my period?
Sure, just know you are more sensitive three days before your periods and three days after your period. Women in this line of business usually are not squeamish, myself included. So just simply wear a fresh tampon and pop a couple Advil to help fight the extra sting during this time.

Q. How long will a Brazilian Wax take?
It usually takes me anywhere from 10-20 minutes. The more you’ve waxed, the faster it can be done.

Q. How long before the hair grows back?
Okay, this is a tricky one because when it comes to the hair re-growth cycle we are not all created equal. Everyone’s hair grows at different rates, sometimes depending on ethnicity. I have some clients that come in every six weeks and have hardly any hair (no fair!) and others who have to come in every three weeks.

Q. Will my hair grow back thicker and darker?
No. Waxing pulls the hair from the follicle weakening the root. So, if anything it will grow back weaker, more sparse and easier to remove next time.

Q. Will my hair stop growing back all together?
No, but it will become more sparse and have finer texture if you wax on a regular basis.

Q. Can I still get waxed when I’m pregnant?
Of course! I do a lot of mamma-mia Brazilian waxes. This is becoming a regular item on soon-to-be mommies to-do lists.

Q. Does my medication affect my waxing?
It certainly can! Certain medications and products thin out the skin making it more likely for you to peel or burn during your waxing session. If you are unsure if your medication will affect your skin, please call me before you come in.

Q. Can I go tanning before or after my waxing session?
Plan on waiting at least 24 hours after your treatment to tan. And do not come in right after a fresh spray tan because the wax will take it right off.

Q. Can I have sex the same day I get waxed?
While you might want to share your new look with a loved one right away, I always suggest waiting at least 24 hours for sexy time—especially if you are prone to ingrown hairs or are fairly new to waxing. Friction and perspiration might aggravate the skin. During the first 24 hours, your body is most susceptible to outside bacteria that might cause an infection of the hair follicle known as folicullitus.

All The ‘Down-There’ Grooming Questions You Were Too Afraid To Ask

“Down-there” grooming is a touchy subject … literally. Whether you leave the hair-removal process up to the professionals or you prefer to do your own “landing strip” at home (yeah, we went there), you’re probably still wondering if you’ve got this thing all figured out.

So we took one for the team and asked Uni K Wax founder Noemi Grupenmager and Tennessee-based licensed aesthetician Eva Hendrick the “down-there” grooming questions you’ve always wanted answers to, but were too afraid to ask.

You should exfoliate regularly to avoid ingrown hairs after waxing or shaving.

Can you get a bikini wax during your period?
Yes, you can have a bikini wax during your period (though the full Brazilian may not be ideal). However, if your skin is particularly sensitive during your menstrual cycle, Grupenmager suggests avoiding a bikini wax during those days.

Are there certain “times of the month” that are best to get waxed down there?
“The best time to get waxed is on your most fertile day of your cycle because your pain tolerance is at its highest,” Hendrick says.

Do men typically get their private parts waxed, and why?
“Men’s grooming is very common and many men prefer a clean, polished look over going au natural,” says Grupenmager. “Aside from general grooming purposes, men also get waxed when they participate in different sporting activities such as cycling, body building, swimming and many others, as a hair-free body provides for additional aerodynamics and possibly a competitive edge.”

Grupenmager adds, “Waxing also elevates the senses — men love the way their cotton pants feel against their skin. There are other benefits to manscaping as well. It adds an extra level of intimacy when you are with your partner and it looks ‘bigger’ when all the hair is removed. Waxing also keeps your manscaped area looking hair free for longer, up to four to six weeks.

What are the most common questions men ask when getting a professional wax?
“Male customers who have never been waxed before often ask waxers what the difference between the many bikini services offered. [They are also] interested to learn that they can wax their shoulder blades or their collar and all the other parts of the body,” says Grupenmager.

Is it safe to shave every day?
Waxing is the smarter choice, according to Grupenmager, because it removes hair below skin level, immediately weakening the hair follicle so hair grows back more slowly, lightly and sparsely over time. But, if you insist on shaving over waxing, make sure you’re shaving in the direction of hair growth, not against. Always use shaving cream or gel to protect skin from irritation and ingrown hairs and use a razor with a sharp blade — dull blades cause nicks and give you an uneven shave.

Should you exfoliate before or after shaving and waxing?
If you are getting waxed “down there,” exfoliation should take place 24-48 hours prior to waxing and again 24-48 hours after waxing. If you are shaving, you can exfoliate right before but you can wait longer afterwards, as this hair removal method is actually exfoliating. “Moisturize with Tend Skin (an astringent) right after waxing or shaving. Then use Tend Skin for the next three days in combination with a gentle moisturizer daily. After the three-day period, continue to moisturize and use Tend Skin as needed,” Hendrick adds.

How do you avoid ingrown hairs and what should you do once you get them?
You should exfoliate regularly to avoid ingrown hairs. “When you have an ingrown hair, dab a little bit of an acne spot treatment (benzyl peroxide or salicylic acid) several times a day to help with removal. The acne spot treatment along with exfoliation is often enough to remove ingrown hairs and is one of the least painful ways to remove them,” Hendrick says. Tanning lotions, alkaline cosmetics, after-shave products containing alcohol and bars of soap also leave a film on the body that could cause ingrown hairs — stay clear of these for at least 48 hours post-grooming.

How long does the hair “down there” really need to be in order to wax or shave?
For an effective wax, Hendrick recommends the hair to be 1/4-1/2 of an inch long and no more than 1/2 of an inch for an effective shave. “Elastic wax can remove shorter hair, but the longer the hair is, the better result,” Grupenmager adds.

How do you stop the irritation and itching post-waxing and shaving?
Two great ways to sooth post-waxing or shaving irritation and itching are using 1 percent hydrocortisone cream and aloe vera gel. “Aloe-based products or anything with tea tree or lavender will help soothe, heal and provide antibacterial properties,” Hendrick says.

What are the cautionary signs of “down-there” grooming gone wrong?
Depending upon what went wrong with your waxing service, Grupenmager believes that will affect how you can remedy the situation. If your skin was burned from a hot and hard wax, wait until it is fully healed and definitely do not go back to that salon.

Skin lifting from waxing, which may look like a red raw spot, is definitely a red flag. Hendrick suggests applying an antibiotic ointment like Neosporin to help the spot heal. “Ingrown hairs will look like a pimple at first,” she explains. “You want to make sure to get the hair out once you know it is an ingrown hair, otherwise it can turn into a painful abscess.”

What is the secret to extending a great wax?
Exfoliation will only extend the wax so long. Heat stimulates hair growth so it will grow more quickly in the summer than in the winter. So Hendrick strongly urges you to keep it cool “down there.” Avoid tight clothing, tanning beds, sun exposure, saunas, heavy exercise and hot baths for at least 24 hours after waxing or shaving.

Your Guide to Getting a Brazilian Wax for the First Time

Brazilian waxes shouldn’t be complicated or something to fear, but because the act of getting one is so intimate and personal, we tend to overthink the entire process. Whether it’s your first time or you’re a pro, the idea of opening your legs to a stranger (or the kind of acquaintance you only see for an hour every four to six weeks) can admittedly be nerve-wracking for anyone. But it doesn’t have to be a big deal — really. Here are the answers to every single question you may have, whether you’re a newbie or a regular, before laying down on the waxing table and getting into the stirrups.

Questions to Ask Before the Wax

How do I find a good waxer?

A good aesthetician or wax professional is just as important as finding a good hairstylist. You want to find someone you trust, who is also licensed and trained in Brazilian waxing. Just because you have a friend who has a friend who might be interested in starting to do Brazilians doesn’t mean you should let them get up close and personal.

You want to make sure they’re changing the paper lining on the waxing table between sessions and, of course, that they’re not doing unsanitary things like double-dipping (which is a term for reusing wax sticks from previous clients and/or strips to remove the hair). “Double-dipping is highly unsanitary and can cause the spreading of bacteria and infections between guests,” says Gina Petak, licensed aesthetician and education manager for European Wax Center. Basically, you want to ensure you’re in the cleanest environment before getting to the work downtown.

OK, but how do I prep my hair?

Petak explains that in order to get the best wax experience, you want to make sure that your hair is at least a quarter-inch long — about the size of a sprinkle. If you’re used to shaving, Petak recommends putting down the razor at least five days prior to your appointment, or longer if your hair grows back more slowly than others. “Don’t worry, your hair can never be too long to come see us. All of our wax specialists are expertly trained to work with all hair and skin types,” she explains.

I want to make this a pleasant experience for my waxer, too. How can I help?

To ease discomfort, you can also take an over-the-counter painkiller, like Tylenol, about 30 minutes before the appointment Sarah Bourgoin, a Michigan-based aesthetician who works in Elina Organics Spa recommends. Don’t worry — they’ve seen pretty much everything. “If it’s your first time and you have been shaving, remember the first time may be a little more uncomfortable but since waxing removes the hair from the root, each time will get easier and easier with the hair growing in thinner and softer,” says Petak. She also says that by the third time, most people don’t even feel it. The main thing you can do is not make things worse for yourself in the long run, which we’ll get to in the next question.

Should I do anything to prep my skin?

Exfoliating your skin before your wax isn’t totally necessary, but it’s next-level prep, and may help you get a cleaner wax. Something that will also help? “Avoid alcohol and caffeine the day of your reservation,” says Petak. Going to get a drink to calm your nerves before getting a bunch of hair ripped out of the lower half of your body may sound like a good idea, but… just don’t do that, because alcohol may make you more sensitive, which can actually lead to a much more painful experience.

“Studies have shown that acetaldehyde, a breakdown product of alcohol, can stimulate a specific type of pain receptors,” explains New York-based board-certified dermatologist Hadley King. “So best to skip the pre-wax cocktail because it could make you more sensitive.” Another thing to skip out on? A cup of coffee. “Caffeine leads to more skin sensitivity, and also can up the pain during a wax,” adds Petak, emphasizing one more beverage-related point: “It’s best to be well hydrated so the skin allows for the hair to be removed easily.”

What to Know About the Wax Experience Itself

Be real with me: How badly is this going to hurt, and how long is it going to take?

There’s not a really good answer to this, because the way a person experiences pain can differ depending on individual pain tolerance and how often you get Brazilian waxes. But Patek explains that using a higher quality wax ensures that hair will be removed more effectively, while also minimizing pain and being more gentle on the skin, creating a more comfortable experience while on the table. Bourgoin explains that hard wax is the preferred wax for Brazilians, though the wax type may be in the hands of your technician. Ask and double-check that they’re using wax with nourishing ingredients that are beneficial to your skin — sugar hair removal is also great for Brazilian waxes, as it is softer and water-soluble.

Why Touch Up Shaving is Completely Sabotaging Your Brazilian Wax

There’s a good chance you’re completely sabotaging your Brazilian wax with touch-up shaving. Stubble is an unfortunate annoyance that can drive you to do less than healthy things to your skin to get rid of it. We know touch-up shaving is a quick, easy way to put an end to annoying stubble, but nothing quick and easy comes without a few strings attached. Shaving recently waxed skin causes damage to your skin’s surface and increases the likelihood of ingrown hair. Even still, it can be a hard habit to stop if you think the benefit outweighs the risk.

Here are the top two reasons people resort to touch-up shaving and how they can break the cycle.

Reason 1: Hair Grows Too Fast

Every person’s hair grows at a different speed. There’s no way to explain it. For some, hair grows quickly while others experience slow hair growth naturally. Hair can seem like one of those unstoppable forces, but it’s actually quite controllable with the right treatment.

Solution: Slow Down Hair Growth

You’ve probably heard of prescription medications that slow down hair growth. They come in small tubes (only enough for the face) and cost between $50 – $75 each, and insurance usually won’t cover it. That’s why we developed two special products in affordably priced 8 oz bottles.

Leme Slow Grow Wash gently cleanses and nourishes to maintain beautifully softened and smooth skin while delaying hair growth and promoting hair to grow back weaker, finer, lighter, and less noticeable.

Leblon Slow Grow Lotion has natural ingredients that slow down hair growth while moisturizing and soothing your skin.

For best results, we suggest using the wash and lotion on a daily basis immediately following your wax service.

Reason 2: Removes Hair from Skin’s Surface

You may think you’ve solved your problem, but you’re actually doing more harm to your skin than good. The reality is that touch-up shaving only removes hair from the skin’s surface, and leaves the root which guarantees each strand will always be in a different stage of growth. Having a mix of short and long strands causes skin irritation and ultimately ingrown hair.

Solution: Consistent Waxing

The easiest way to cut down on stubble and the need for touch-up shaving is to wax every time your hair reaches the right length. That’s the size of a grain of rice. Every week or month you skip gives your hair that much more time to grow out and irritate your skin. Consistent waxing also keeps your hair growing on the same cycle, which means it’ll grow evenly. Do yourself a favor, get your waxes on a consistent basis and watch your regrowth come back finer, lighter, and less painful to remove.

Every time you get a wax, then shave afterwards, you’re reversing the benefits of removing hair from the root all at once. This sort of self-sabotage is expensive. If you’re serious about removing your hair by waxing, you have to stop shaving in between waxing appointments.

After waxing for a while, you’ll notice the time between visits becomes longer. Although waxing is a longer process compared to shaving, it is well worth the effort and long lasting results.

How Regular Body Waxing Can Retard Hair Growth

Everyone knows what a pain it is to continually have to shave your legs, armpits and especially the bikini area.  It is time consuming, a hassle, painful and the results only last a day, two at best.  Not to mention how expensive it is to have to kept buying razors month after month.  Even after you shave you are sometimes left with those awful razor bumps, cuts and nicks and your legs do not feel completely smooth.  Waxing may be the answer to slowing down hair growth and possibly stopping it all together!  Now before getting overly excited over never having to see all that stubborn hair gone for good, there are some things to take into consideration.

What Does Waxing Do Exactly?

When you start waxing, warm wax is applied to the area of skin that you want the hair removed from.  Then you take paper like material and cover the area of the wax and then firmly and quickly pull it off.  This action will remove the hair in the area.  One important detail about waxing is that you have to wait until your hair is long enough to rip out the hair.  But once the hair is removed, the results will last anywhere from three to six weeks.  And after each treatment, the hair will grow back much finer making it less noticeable in between visits.

When you wax and yank out the hair, the hair follicles will become damaged, which may eventually prevent the hair from ever growing back.  Although the results will last for weeks and the hair follicles become damaged which may prevent hair growth, waxing is not considered to be a permanent hair removal treatment.

In general using wax is more effective than shaving.  Shaving only cuts the hair close to the skin, keeping the hair follicles intact.  This will cause the hair to growth faster than with waxing.  Even though waxing isn’t considered permanent, it at least removes the hair underneath the skin’s surface.  The damage over time will cause the hair to grow back slower, finer and possibly even altogether.

How Often Should You Wax?

Waxing is a safe way to effectively remove hair, so you can wax as often as you want too.  You should always wait for the hair to come back so that it is long enough for the waxing to grab onto it and remove it.  With this being said, it is still safe to wax days after or weeks after.  If you have questions please feel free to ask the experts at Skin Therapy of Charlotte to help set up a treatment plan for you.  The more treatments of waxing, the  hair will grow back much slower and has a better chance to permanently remove all that stubborn hair!

Things to Take Into Consideration

Remember even though waxing can remove the hair permanently, the results will take months to achieve.  You shouldn’t wax if your skin is irritated, burned, or have unhealed cuts.  You can always ask your skin therapist about different types of waxing treatments that may be better for your skin and hair type.  After waxing avoid direct sunlight, hot showers and lotions/perfumes that contain fragrances and alcohol for at least 24 hours.  This will help keep the redness of your skin down.  Remember not every treatment is meant for everyone.  Waxing may not work effectively for certain people, so make sure to ask the experts at Skin Therapy of Charlotte about other options or treatments!

13 Brazilian Wax Tips for First Time Bikini Waxers in 2020

Deciding what to do with your pubic hair is a personal decision that’s absolutely nobody’s business but your own. If you love (or simply don’t mind) your hair, great! Keep it! If you’re into bikini trimmers to keep your hair neat and tidy, fantastic. You do you. But if you’ve been readin’ up on bikini hair removal and decided that a Brazilian wax is something you want to try for the first time, I’ve gotchu covered with every answer to all your possible questions—including, yup, is it really that painful? Keep reading for all the facts, with expert insights from Gabrielle Ophals, cofounder of Haven Spa in NYC.

What is a Brazilian wax?

According to Ophals, a bikini wax involves removing the hair that’s about 2 to 3 inches past your bathing suit line. A Brazilian wax takes it a step further and removes all the hair from your labia, above the “split” or clitoral fold (where your skin starts to divide and you find your inner labia), and between the buttocks. In layman’s terms, it removes alllll the hair down there.

What is a full Brazilian wax?

I know I said a Brazilian wax is when all the hair is removed, but you can also choose to leave a thin strip (a landing strip, if you will) or a small triangle in the front. Ophals says a Brazilian just means all the hair is removed from the labia and buttocks. If you choose to go completely bare, that would be what some people refer to as a “full Brazilian wax.” The difference is minimal, and it all comes down to personal preference.

How is a Brazilian wax done?

Other than the area that’s being waxed and the yoga positions you have to get into, a Brazilian is kinda like any other body wax treatment: a layer of wax is applied to your clean skin, and then it’s quickly peeled off, along with your hair. The esthetician will use either a strip wax (a hot wax that requires a strip of fabric placed on top), a hard wax (a thick wax that plasticizes as it cools and removes hair without a strip), or a combination of both. While hard wax is more common to use for Brazilian waxes because it’s slightly less painful, strip wax is better for gripping smaller, finer hairs that the hard wax leaves behind.

Do Brazilian waxes hurt?

How do I put this lightly: It hurts pretty freakin’ bad the first time you get it done (but tends to get easier to handle the more you go). Not only is it a sensitive area to begin with, but Ophals adds that some skin (like the inside area of the outer labia and the top portion above the cleft) is thinner and even more sensitive, making waxing it particularly more intense. But hey! Apparently, the butt area isn’t all that bad, so there’s that.

How can I make my Brazilian wax less painful?

Ophals says some patients take the recommended dose of Advil before they come in if they’re really sensitive. However, she doesn’t recommend numbing the pain with a few shots of liquid courage beforehand, so save the alcohol for later. The whole process takes about 10 to 30 minutes, so although it can hurt, it’ll be over soon enough. As backward as it sounds, the only real way to make your Brazilians less terrible is to just keep getting them. According to Ophals, the longer you’ve been waxing, the less painful they become because the hair follicles become weaker and some even stop growing back altogether.

How much do Brazilian waxes cost?

It can depend on the location and the wax used, but Ophals says the average cost of a Brazilian wax typically ranges from $50 to $80.

Can you wax your bikini area yourself?

If you’re anything like me, there seems to be a direct correlation with the amount of time stuck at home and the amount of confidence you have in yourself to take on a DIY project that you otherwise would have never attempted. But step away from the at-home wax kit for just a sec while I go over all the reasons you should reconsider using it for a DIY Brazilian wax.

Ophals says the most common thing that goes wrong when waxing yourself is bruising, because you can’t get the right angle for ripping the strip or wax off by yourself. But that’s not all! You can also burn yourself if the wax is too hot or rip off your skin (!!) if the wax is too cool, which leads to scabbing, hyperpigmentation, and even scarring. So yeah. Leave the DIY projects for your clothes and tie-dyeing kits.

What should you not do before a Brazilian wax?

The number one thing to avoid before an appointment (besides stopping acne treatments that can make your skin thinner, like Accutane) is shaving. Ophals say your hair should be a quarter-inch long or as close to that as you can get. Any shorter than an eighth-inch long will be too short to wax, so don’t shave right before. Shower and rinse the area ahead of your appointment (yay, hygiene!), but don’t exfoliate or apply any lotions or oils, which could impede the wax’s ability to grip to the hair.

What not to do after waxing?

Hear me loud and clear when I say you’ll want to wear loose clothing to your appointment and avoid tight-fitting underwear or pants afterward to prevent painful chafing against the raw, tender skin. Ophals also says to avoid touching the area, and for the most part, don’t put any products on it. If your skin is still sticky or tacky from the waxy residue, you can use a little bit of unscented oil (Ophals recommends virgin organic coconut oil) to remove it. Give it a day before resuming your normal life or doing any (and I mean any) sweaty activities. Waxing in and of itself will exfoliate the skin plenty, so no need to do that for at least 72 hours.

Can hair be too long before a Brazilian wax?

If your hair is any longer than a quarter of an inch, trim it before your appointment. Any longer than that and it’ll just hurt more (Ophals says you can thank torque and the ergonomics of pulling for that).

When should you not wax?

If you can, schedule your wax around your period. While you can still get waxed during your period (make sure to call and ask ahead of time if the salon is cool with it, though, and always wear a tampon or a cup for the wax), you’re at the height of your pain sensitivity when you’re premenstrual, so why do that to yourself?

Can I trim between waxes?

Ready for an answer that’s more complicated than your relationship?! The goal for Brazilian waxes is to be less painful each time. So to do that, Ophals recommends not trying to stretch out your appointments with shaving and trimming because you’ll keep starting over and reinforcing the strength of that hair at the root.

A Brazilian wax typically lasts three to five weeks (depending on how quickly your hair grows and how much hair you can tolerate) but you might notice hair creeping up sooner, especially when you’re first starting out. Why? Because not only does hair grow in different cycles, but your pubic hair is really strong and prone to breakage the first few times you wax too.

“When this happens, it seems like the hair has come out, but it’s actually broken off just below the surface of the skin, so it will immediately start growing in,” Ophals says. Since shaving removes the uppermost layer of skin, you don’t want to wax every week, so in the meantime, yes, you can trim to keep everything under control, but try to keep your appointments consistent.

Is waxing better than shaving?

Ophals is a fan of waxing because the hair grows back softer after it’s removed (the hair has a tapered edge when it grows back as opposed to the blunt edge you get from shaving), but how you choose to handle your body-hair removal is your decision. Weigh the pros and cons of shaving and waxing (or laser hair removal, for that matter), and go with whatever method works the best for you.

How long to grow hair before sugaring after shaving

We always support the decision to switch to sugar depilation. This is a good way to deal with unwanted vegetation. Compared to shaving, it has a prolonged effect, there are fewer ingrown hairs, and light skin peeling occurs.

The peculiarity of this material is its composition, which is completely devoid of any aggressive components, since it consists mainly of sugar and water. Due to such ingredients, the manipulation itself is rightfully considered low allergenic.

The paste surrounds the hairs, but does not adhere to the epidermis. This means virtually no trauma to the skin and good tolerance.

Another excellent feature of shugaring is the removal of sprouts in the direction of their growth, which, unlike wax, does not break the stem, does not injure the follicle and, as a result, does not stimulate ingrown hairs.

With regular visits to the beautician, the cover gradually becomes thinner and weaker.

However, after regular use of the shaver, there are certain aspects that need to be considered.

Length of bulk hair

For effective removal, it should be 3-5 mm, which can be compared to a long grain of rice. When a sufficient size is reached, the rod must be laid on the surface.

And here it is important to be patient and refrain from shaving for at least 10-14 days.

In the future, it will be easier, since the vegetation, due to removal along with the root, will appear only after a few weeks.

Possible discomfort

The second point to be prepared for is the initial discomfort. By the first session, we have a large number of completely healthy hair.

And the formula here is quite simple: the more cover, the higher the pain. Gradually, the bulbs will weaken, giving out weaker “offspring” and in fewer numbers.

Consequently, by 3-4 visits, the entire manipulation will be much less painful.

To prepare for unpleasant sensations, try to guess a visit for a time immediately after menstruation, since during this period the body reacts less to external stimuli, take an anesthetic drug and try to relax.

Good contact with the master also plays a positive role.

The appearance of “hemp”

Soon after the initial depilation, there is a good chance that you will notice the appearance of “hemp”.This does not at all indicate the unprofessionalism of the cosmetologist and poor quality service. Everything is in the order of things.

Constant use of the blade contributes to the rather irregular appearance of the rods. Therefore, it may not be possible to remove all the hairs the first time.

This explains the appearance of stubble. Do not despair and be patient. Let these scions grow and do not use a razor. After that, sign up for the salon again.

The growth cycle on legs takes about 6 weeks, and if you visit your master every 3-4 weeks, then the process is synchronized and you can soon enjoy smooth skin throughout the entire period.

Follow your healthcare professional’s recommendations after treatment for optimal results. And don’t forget to scrub and moisturize your skin regularly.

How many days to grow hair before depilation of legs. How long after shaving you can do shugaring. How long should the hair be for shugaring

Here we have collected the most popular questions about shugaring. The working temperature of the wax is 45-70 degrees, which is traumatic for the skin, especially sensitive. Tell me, will there be the same reaction after shugaring? After depilation with sugar paste, irritation is much less, or it is absent at all.

And then on tanned skin the hair becomes very noticeable. They are answered by a master cosmetologist with many years of experience Natalya

Questions to the master. And if happens
, then disappears within an hour after the procedure. Making you beautiful is his job, so in this case, you just need to try to throw off the embarrassment and tune in to a great result.
– Should you grow your armpit hair to do shugaring later?

Each epilation method has its pros and cons. Frequently asked questions and competent answers.Of course, your problem will not be solved immediately, but with regular use of ingrown hair shugaring, practically no remains
. Subsequently, of course, 3-4 millimeters will be enough to make the skin smooth again.

How often should shugaring be done? Does hair grow back fast? Each organism is unique. You can also try the Lidocaine spray, preferably Hungarian. And the rate of hair growth is different for everyone.

Sugar paste works at body temperature, so burns are completely excluded and living cells do not suffer. Therefore, when removing the entire hair, red dots may appear, which quickly pass. In general, there are no contraindications for the days of the cycle for girls, but a few days before menstruation, the pain threshold decreases, so we recommend that especially sensitive young ladies wait.
– What if I have a very low pain threshold, but I want to try shugaring? How to relieve pain? For those who are especially sensitive, there is Emla cream.

This procedure can be used even by owners of very delicate skin, as well as clients who have minor problems with blood vessels.
– When is it better for girls to come to epilate the bikini area? Professionals advise to do epilation
bikini area immediately after the end of your period.

The advantages of shugaring in this case are that the armpits remain smooth for much longer. How to grow hair faster for depilation

Page Questions to the master. Therefore, in this case, it’s up to you to decide. How to be? Yes, hair on our body does not grow evenly as it is in different stages of growth.

Removing such hair will be much easier, faster, and, of course, more painless.
– Can bruises and bleeding remain after the procedure? If you come to shugaring for the first time, then the hair follicles sit firmly under the skin.

Natalia Lapina, a master cosmetologist with many years of experience, answers them.
– How long should you grow your hair before shugaring? If you come to shugaring for the first time, and before that you used a razor, then it is advisable to grow your hair longer – 5-7 millimeters. We act in the same way as with the cream.

For example, after the razor the hairs break through the very next day, and after shugaring the effect of perfect smoothness lasts 2-3 weeks. In addition, if you do shugaring regularly, the hairs will begin to grow less often, become thinner, softer and lighter. This will also ease the pain slightly.
– Is it true that the more often I epilate, the sooner I get used to the pain? Truth. We also advise you to apply a sugar scrub daily between epilation procedures, which will remove dead skin particles and facilitate hair growth.

Can I make a paste for sugar epilation at home and remove my hair myself? The risk is too great that you will not be able to perfectly maintain all proportions, and instead of a paste, you will get a lollipop. You can leave a strip in front or give a simple shape (this is also considered a deep bikini)
– I am very shy by nature. If you are planning to make a classic bikini, there are disposable panties for this.

Especially when it comes to the bikini area.
– I have an ingrown hair problem. And the effect after the procedure will last for 2-3 weeks.
– After waxing, I have severe irritation that only goes away after two days. Plus, homemade pasta is more likely to be simply ineffective.

I do depilation with wax, but it does not help much. But on average, 2-3 weeks pass before the germination of the first hairs. When applying the composition to the skin, you risk 90,071 mistakes
with its temperature. And the sooner you start, the better.

I have a lot of hair on my arms, but they are light. When deep, all hair is removed completely, including the anus area. There are usually no bruises after the procedure. Tell me, if you do shugaring on your hands, won’t your hair later become coarse and dark? No, on the contrary!

If you shave
hands with an ordinary razor, the likelihood that the hair will become stiffer is high. Is it possible to get rid of ingrown hair with sugaring? If your hair grows in, experts recommend trying shugaring! The fact is that with wax you remove hair against their growth, injuring the hair follicle, disrupting the natural hair hole.If you still have bruises, then the master removed the paste not parallel to the skin, but with an upward movement, which is a gross violation of the shugaring technique and speaks of the unprofessionalism of the cosmetologist.

Can a man do shugaring? Yes, this hair removal method is great for both women and men.
– What’s the difference between a classic bikini and a deep bikini?

In a classic bikini, everything that goes beyond the line of panties is removed (as a rule, these are “sides”, a little on the legs and sometimes on top). About an hour before depilation, you need to spread a rather thick layer of especially sensitive areas, cover them with cling film so as not to stain your linen, and go for epilation. The exception is sensitive skin, where redness is frequent. And everyone chooses their own method. The razor is not for me at all. If there are no painkillers at hand, you can drink 50 grams of cognac or a glass of wine before the procedure.

Can you advise something? If you want to come to epilate your legs, then you do not have to undress completely. Most often, epilation is repeated once a month.
– Can I do shugaring if waxing is contraindicated for me? Sugaring epilation is a great alternative for those who are allergic to wax paste. In 95% of cases, girls, having tried shugaring, choose it, and not wax epilation.

But, of course, for the result to please you, you need to wait and grow your hair from 3 mm, and this requires patience!
– What if the hair grows unevenly? Three weeks have passed after epilation, most of the hair has grown back, but there are enough of those that have just appeared. But I would like to do epilation.

Therefore, it is best to entrust this procedure to a professional who works with quality materials such as Dolce Vita.
– At what age can you do shugaring of the bikini area? Are there any contraindications for age? Shugaring of any zones can be started at a fairly early age – as soon as the need arises.

It is not cheap, but you can try. Therefore, germinating, it is easy for the hair to come to the surface. Because of this, tanning is very bad in the summer.By doing sugar epilation, we remove hair in the direction of its natural growth, without damaging the skin and follicle in any way.

And in general, treat the master like a professional. There are actually very few examples of successful hair removal with such a paste. There is practically no skin irritation. Frequently asked questions and competent answers. Here we have collected the most popular questions about shugaring.

If you are in unbearably painful pain during the first procedure, this does not mean that it will be the same during the second one. Therefore, when it germinates again, it can bend, starting to grow in the other direction, and remain under the skin, causing inflammation. After 2-3 procedures, the skin gets used to it and the painful sensations practically disappear. But we advise in such situations to be patient for another week and remove all hair so that next time it grows more evenly.

If the hair is removed with wax against its growth, the hair follicle is injured and irritates the skin. Also, the shugaring paste is hypothermic (since its temperature does not exceed the temperature of the human body) and does not cause burns from it. But within 2-3 hours they pass. The hair will become thinner, weaker. In general, everything is very individual!

Is it true that sugaring is a less painful procedure than waxing? Of course, sugar hair removal is less painful than waxing. If you do shugaring, the effect will be the opposite.

After all, at this temperature, living cells are removed along with the hair.

The endless hum of the epilator is terribly bored, and the irritation from using the razor has led to a sore skin? Do you dream to permanently get rid of vegetation on the body while having smooth and healthy skin? In this case, waxing is specific to you.

Nowadays, the introduction of razors and depilation creams is becoming less and less popular, such methods remain in the past, because a modern lady is tired of prickly stubble, irritations, and does not want to waste a lot of time on permanent hair removal.

Waxing at home saves not only money, but also the time spent on trips to the beauty salon

Waxing in the salon is one of the most necessary procedures. But not all pretty women have the opportunity to visit it, because the cost of similar services in some salons is very high. But, there is nothing to despair, because you can learn to do everything with your own hands, especially since there are absolutely no difficulties in waxing.

The most important thing is to take into account all the rules, because there are a lot of subtleties. If you are a beginner, then you should not carry out the function in sensitive places – at first it is better to practice on your feet. Read on to learn more about all aspects of waxing at home.

Features of waxing

For the first time, spend the function only on your feet, if you are new to this case

How much hair should be grown before waxing, how to apply wax, how to tear off a strip – such questions appear for almost all women who perform the function for the first time.

There are really a lot of subtleties and if you do not take them into account, then the result, the upcoming condition of the skin will not be able to amuse you.

  • The hair length for waxing should be approximately 5-7 mm.
  • The main rule is that wax is applied in the direction of hair growth, and a cardboard or fabric strip is torn off against the growth of vegetation. Many ladies make the gravest mistake by doing the opposite.
  • If the procedure was carried out according to all the rules, then when asked how long waxing is enough, we can safely answer – for 3-4 weeks you will definitely forget about unnecessary vegetation.

Wax selection

Waxing without wax is unrealistic, therefore, in principle, it is not easy to acquire it, but also to know which of its types to acquire, because there are several varieties.About them below in the table.

Variety Description
Cool wax Cool wax for hair removal is not the most successful choice. Firstly, the whole process will take a long time, and secondly, everything is very painful.

Usually cool wax is advised to use for working on sensitive skin areas. The advantage of this material is that it is able to get rid of the finest and smallest hairs.

Hot wax Hot waxing is unsafe for your health – this is the worldview of most professionals.

Explain why – because of the high temperature of the material, you can burn the skin, besides, the particularly burning mixture is capable of expanding the vessels, which is very unsafe for varicose veins. The advantage of this type of hair removal is that it is the least painful.

Warm wax Epilation with warm wax is the most balanced option for self-treatment. The mixture is comfortable to apply, hygienic, will gently affect the epidermis and is suitable for almost everyone.

The cost of the product is higher compared to the hot and cool varieties, but the quality is worth it. Usually, such a product is sold in special cans or cartridges. Most professionals insist that warm wax is ideal for introducing it at home.

Warm wax arsenal

Successful completion of the procedure anticipates the presence of the following arsenal of tools:

Cassette wax alloy will help to apply the mixture in a narrow layer

  1. Cassette Wax Alloy
is a special device for warming up a wax consistency. The device can be wireless – with a special base-base and wired – it works from the network. Such a device helps to apply wax in a thin layer, while eliminating the risk of getting burns, because it heats the mixture to a maximum of 60 ° – such a temperature is completely harmless for the epidermis.

You can also use a canned wax alloy, but in this case you need to use a wood stick to apply the wax. Some types of such a device do not have a temperature regulator, so you can get burns, and applying wax with a stick is not particularly comfortable – a large layer of consistency can lead to epidermal injuries.

Never heat wax in a pot of hot water or in the microwave.
In this case, you can overheat the product and risk burning your skin.
If the mixture, on the other hand, is not heated enough, the roller will not be able to spin smoothly, which is why the product will simply not be applied in a uniform layer.

  1. Wax cartridges
. Their color can be very different – everything depends on the availability of additives. For example, if the mixture is greenish, it means agave is added, blue is millennial with chamomile, brown is cocoa, snow-white is vanilla, etc.

Cartridges with various additives

The choice of cartridge depends on the sensitivity of the skin, the density and hardness of the vegetation. The application note, which is usually included with the cartridge, will help you in choosing the right one.

Roll and cut paper for epilation

  1. Special waxing paper
.Available in the form of a roll or cut strips.

Recommended recommendation!
For hair removal at home, it is more convenient to use strips with a maximum length of 12 cm.
The width of all is standard -7, 5 cm.
If the length of the strip is, for example, 20 cm, then in this case you may not have enough arm span to to disrupt it, because all your past deeds can go down the drain.
The result is unlikely to please you in this case.

A simple method to remove wax residues is to use olive oil

  1. Oil
.Any baby, linseed, olive, coconut or massage oil is suitable for removing wax residues.
  2. Talc
for the best adhesion of wax to the skin, lotion for cleansing the epidermis and a soothing milk for use after the procedure.

Phased Waxing Process

Before starting the function, be sure to test for an allergic reaction. Pay attention to the length of the hairs – very short hairs may not come off. As mentioned above, the best length is 5-7 mm.

Annotation for hair removal at home:

  1. Take a warm shower 2 hours before your procedure. Dry your skin well and do not use any cosmetics.
  2. Monitor the room temperature. If it is below 23 ° -25 °, then the wax can harden even at the application step.

Warm shower reduces painful feelings

  1. Preheat the wax alloy with the cartridge inserted. You will need about 30-40 minutes – the warm-up time depends on the model of the appliance.
  2. Apply disinfectant lotion, also talcum, to the area to be epilated.
  3. Apply a 10 cm layer of wax in the direction of hair growth. Cover the area immediately with paper and press down slightly with your hand.

Waxing process with cassette wax

  1. Wait 5-10 seconds for the wax to adhere to the paper.
  2. Grasp the edge of the strip with one hand and pull the leather slightly with the other. Pull the strip off sharply parallel to the leg against the hair growth.Don’t pull the strip up! Remove unwashed hairs with tweezers, as it is not recommended to apply wax to the same area a couple of times in succession.

The stripping step of the cardboard strip is the worst in waxing

  1. Remove wax residue with an oil-soaked cloth. Apply a soothing milk to the area.
  2. Do not shower for several hours after the procedure. And the first two days you cannot visit the bathhouse and sauna. In order to prevent the occurrence of ingrown hairs, it is necessary to systematically scrub – 2-3 procedures per week will be completely enough.

Do not wax under any circumstances if at least one of the following contraindications concerns you:

  • Cuts, wounds, rashes, warts, skin irritations.
  • Sensitivity to wax products.
  • Aggravation of acquired diseases.
  • Sweet diabetes.
  • Varicose blood vessels.

After epilation. Something.

HISTORY OF MY EPILATIONS 🙂 Having seen another post about epilation, I decided to finally describe my funny stories. I actually ate the dog. From school I started to lighten my mustache with blonde paints, burned my skin, sometimes got a yellow mustache, but on the whole I was happy, dreamed of …

The method of depilation with wax has long been known in Russia, but few people have managed to “indulge in” sugaring.A new method of removing excess hairs came to us quite recently, but now we can say that shugaring is the most painless and safest way of depilation.

However, many women have an overestimated idea of shugaring, and not everyone knows how many points there are that should be taken into account. It also happens that after reading many positive reviews about him, girls are disappointed, faced with numerous problems. And almost all of them are associated with insufficient hair length in the epilation area. Why grow your hair and how long do you need to wait before going to the shugaring procedure?

Why grow hair before sugaring and waxing?

To begin with, we recall that depilation and epilation are literally pulling out hairs from the dermal layer of the skin, while razors simply cut hair at the level of the epidermis – the uppermost layer of the skin. There are differences between depilation and epilation: in the first case, the hair breaks out along with the bulb, but a follicle remains, in the second, the hair is completely pulled out of the dermis, and subsequently they can finally stop growing.

The essence of shugaring is practically the same as for waxing – to remove hair from the skin along with the root. To carry out the procedure, the hair must be moderately long. This is necessary so that the sugaring paste can grab it and remove it. Very short hairs will not be able to pull out and will remain intact, so it may seem that the procedure was not effective.

How much hair to grow? For shugaring to be successful, experts advise to grow hairs for the first time approximately 5 mm or slightly longer. At this point, hair that is not yet used to the procedure may be less manageable and difficult to come out of the skin, so the length should be made longer. For the following procedures, it is already enough to grow hair by 3-4 mm.

Another problem with hair pulling is the low pain threshold. In this case, you can use special ointments or sprays that temporarily reduce the sensitivity of the skin. They need to process the depilation area 30-60 minutes before the procedure itself.

But do not worry, every time before shugaring, you will not have to treat the area with anesthetic ointments or sprays, since after three or more procedures your skin will get used to shugaring, and the hair itself will eventually decrease in diameter, which means it will be much easier to remove them …

In addition to the fact that the hair must be grown before shugaring or waxing, the skin in the depilation area should also be prepared:

  • The day before the procedure, use a scrub – get rid of dead skin cells, cleanse it.
  • If the procedure is carried out at home, it is best to steam the depilation area under a hot shower – the pores will open and the hairs will come out more easily, without creating situations that then lead to ingrown hairs. In addition, this way the procedure will be less painful.
  • At the end of the shugaring, you cannot take thermal procedures: a solarium, a hot bath, and so on.
  • After 2-3 days, it is advisable to scrub the treated skin again to make it even softer.

You can repeat the procedure every 3-4 weeks, depending on how quickly your hair grows back.

Frequently Asked Questions

A little about shugaring in the bikini area

Depilation and especially epilation in this area is not a pleasant feeling, so you need to be more careful here. In the case of sugaring, the removal of unwanted hairs is not as painful as if the skin was treated with wax. In the bikini area, hair grows in the same way as the rest of the body, with the exception of the armpit. What you need to know about shugaring in the bikini area:

  1. Before the procedure, be sure to steam the skin and soften it with a special shugaring agent, do not forget about talcum powder.
  2. Shugaring in the bikini area can be done at an early age – it does not harm your health and does not disturb the microflora in the intimate area.
  3. Any hair removal or depilation should take place 2-3 days after the menstruation cycle, since these days the pain threshold for girls increases significantly, and the procedure will be less painful.

Shaving your legs, underarms and bikini area can be time-consuming and last only a day or two. Waxing has a longer lasting effect, but this does not guarantee that your hair will not grow back after a few weeks. However, if you wax regularly for several years, you can slow down or even stop hair growth. Once you know why this can happen, you can later determine for yourself whether to continue using waxing regularly or choose some other way to immediately remove and stop hair growth.

Hair Removal

When you remove hair with wax, you can expect results lasting for weeks, but waxing is not a procedure that removes hair permanently in one go. Waxing is much more effective than shaving because it removes hair from the root, so it takes much longer for it to grow back and become visible. However, if you regularly remove your hair by waxing, you can eventually stop hair growth permanently. This can happen because permanent hair removal at the root weakens the hair, and this can cause hair to stop growing.

Since waxing is considered one of the safest ways to remove hair, you can do this procedure as often as you need. However, it should also be borne in mind that there must be enough time between waxing sessions for the hair to grow back to the desired length. the epilator should not be used for more than 3 weeks.), which allows you to remove them as efficiently as possible. If you want to remove unwanted vegetation from large areas of the skin, such as legs or back, then waxing is the most effective method. it is fast enough, and its effect lasts longer than from other procedures (editor’s note: such as shaving, hair removal with depilatory cream, etc.). If you want to remove hair immediately and permanently, contact a dermatologist to find the most suitable epilation method for you (editor’s note: in our opinion, hair removal “right away and forever” is a myth, and we have not yet witnessed feedback from real people. which would remove all hair instantly, and so that they do not appear later).

Do not wax if your skin is irritated or open. If the skin is too sensitive, give preference to the cold wax epilation method (editor’s note: in Russia this method is called warm wax epilation), since this type of epilation uses wax heated to a lower temperature than hot wax epilation, which can burn and damage too sensitive skin. Avoid direct sunlight, excessively hot showers and cosmetics containing fragrances for 24 hours after waxing (editor’s note: personally, we generally do not recommend applying any preparations to the skin within 24 hours after waxing). This will help reduce irritation and redness. For more information about the warnings and contraindications for waxing, see our article Warnings and contraindications for waxing

Thus, waxing can lead to the complete and irreversible removal of unwanted body hair. However, waxing should not be considered as a 100% reliable and correct method used for this purpose, because the principle described above does not work in all cases.

Hair Removal Methods – Step-by-Step Tips

If performed on your own, this procedure can be sloppy, and in the salon it can be very expensive. Finally, very short hairs can pass through the wax.

Care rating:
It’s great if you consider daily hair removal a “chore” and are willing to pay for a professional procedure.

Dermatologist’s note:
After using the wax, the skin may remain dry. After the procedure, use a soothing lotion, ideally with aloe vera.

There are many options for shaving your bikini area. So which one will you choose? We have compiled a comprehensive list of all the ways you can remove hair from intimate areas. The best way to get rid of intimate hair is whichever method works best for you.

Cutting intimate hair

If you decide to shave your bikini area, you may need to cut your hair before shaving.Bikini hair can be long and tangled between the blades of your razor – oh! You can use scissors or a bikini trimmer. After trimming, grab your razor and be done!

Many women choose a razor to remove hair from intimate areas. Just use the same razor you use on your hands and feet, making sure it is well cleaned before starting to ensure a closer shave. To shave your bikini area without irritation, moisturize your skin and protect it with shaving gel and exfoliation before the razor touches your skin. The skin in the bikini area is more sensitive than elsewhere and has more curves. For the most delicate areas, we recommend using a razor like the Venus Swirl. It is designed with FLEXIBALLTM technology to handle difficult areas, including the bikini area.

Waxing in intimate places for women

Like other parts of your body, waxing is one of the options for removing unwanted hair. You can go to a professional or do it yourself at home. For waxing, hot wax is applied to the skin. If you decide to do this yourself, be sure to read all the instructions in the waxing kit – it may be worth asking a friend for help.

Intimate epilation

Epilation is a process in which a hand-held device is used to mechanically pull hair out of the body.It is easier to apply than waxing, and the effect lasts longer than after shaving, since the hairs are removed from the root. You can use the epilator in the bikini area, but be careful: since the skin is sensitive in private parts, pull it on and epilate slowly. Epilation can be quite painful the first time, but it will get easier over time, as with each new procedure there will be fewer hairs left to remove and your skin will get used to the process of epilation.

Permanent hair removal

For a more permanent solution, you can try laser hair removal, also called intense pulsed light (IPL), which can be obtained from a professional in a salon, or you can do it yourself at home.Although the effect lasts a very long time – much longer than after waxing or shaving – getting a professional can be quite expensive depending on how often you need treatment and whether your hair grows back evenly. Chest hair

Don’t shave it

It is unlikely that your girlfriend likes to rub her face against sandpaper: this is how your breasts feel when you start shaving them. So spare your beloved one of this dubious pleasure and stop using the razor. First, you will never achieve perfect smoothness with it. And secondly, you will have to shave half of your body every day.

Use depilatory cream

If you are still uncompromising in your quest for perfectly smooth breasts, try removing vegetation with depilatory cream. He acts on the roots, destroying them. As a result, hair grows slower and softer than after shaving. Thanks to this procedure, you will be able to have smooth breasts for several weeks.

Hair Removal Cream, Nad’s

(but this is an extreme measure)

Quite effective, but not the most pleasant way. Firstly, it hurts, and secondly, most likely, after this procedure, you will get irritated. However, if you go to a professional clinic, most of the problems can be avoided. After waxing, you can enjoy perfectly smooth breasts for a month. True, instead of dense vegetation on the body, redness may appear. So it’s better to play it safe and wax a couple of days before going out in public without a shirt. And after hair removal, immediately use a soothing lotion.

Trim your hair

If you like chest hair, it is best to get a body trimmer. With it, you can give your vegetation a neat look, while maintaining its softness.

Hair on the shoulders

The skin on this part of the body is prone to irritation, because it constantly comes into contact with clothes, often sweats and hardly breathes. So to remove any hair on your shoulders, put your razor aside and equip yourself with a trimmer. Put it on the lightest setting and move against hair growth. Yes, the razor needs to work in the opposite direction, but in this case you do not come into contact with the skin and do not risk injuring it.Do this a couple of times a week.

Hair on the neck

Do here as you are used to. Use a razor or trimmer. No matter how long your neck hairs are, they should be tucked away to give your beard a sharper outline. Imagine a slightly curved line that connects your earlobe to your Adam’s apple — this is where your beard should end. You can safely remove the rest of the vegetation on the neck.

Electric Shaver, Gamma Piu

It is better for a girl or some very helpful friend to help you with this. But that’s only if your hair doesn’t grow very low. Otherwise, you will have to turn to a professional, which is not so bad. By removing your hair from your neck, you freshen up your hair and can postpone your visit to the hairdresser for another two weeks.

Hair on the back

Use a trimmer

As you’ve probably guessed, a trimmer is the most versatile and irreplaceable thing. It is also great for back hair removal. The skin here is exactly the same as on the shoulders – it is easily irritated. So the razor won’t work. And again, you will have to ask your girlfriend for help, because you yourself are unlikely to reach it.

Try depilatory cream

The trimmer will help tame unruly hair and give it a tidy look. But achieving perfect smoothness in this way will be much more difficult. Wax or depilatory cream can come to the rescue. But it is better to give preference to the latter. Removing hair with wax is too unsafe: the risk of irritation and pain is too high a price for a few weeks of smoothness.

Butt hair

Don’t shave it

If you think you need a perfectly smooth butt, forget about razors and trimmers. Imagine two sandpaper rubbing against each other. You will feel the same every time you walk for several weeks until your hair grows back.

Use cream or wax

Do not remove your butt hair at all. And no, you don’t need to ask a very helpful friend for anything. It is enough to ask your girlfriend in which clinic she does depilation, and go there too.

Pubic hair

Don’t use a razor

Don’t even think about shaving your household. There are other, more effective ways to remove all the hair from your eggs.

Use trimmer or cream to remove pubic hair

The trimmer allows you to trim just as much hair as you want. You can remove everything, or you can leave a little, everything is at your discretion.

Do not put anything on your dick

Do nothing at all with your dick: do not shave it, do not smear it with depilatory cream. You can’t even use a trimmer. The skin on the penis is so thin that it can get caught between the teeth of the trimmer (nice little). You will have to use a special nozzle to separately remove each hair, a nose nozzle is perfect.

Hair on arms and legs

Everything is very simple here: this hair can be removed with anything. The skin on your hands and feet is not very delicate, so you won’t be irritated. Feel free to arm yourself with a razor, cream, trimmer or even wax.

Armpit Hair

There is a simple way to figure out how much armpit hair you need to remove: raise your arms above your head and then lower it along your body. Anything that sticks out in different directions – delete.

General rules

Use trimmer instead of shaver

The shaver should only be used to remove hair from the neck and legs.Better to throw it away altogether. Firstly, if you shave according to all the rules, this is a very long process: you need to steam the skin in a warm shower, scrub it, apply shaving foam and only then start removing hair. Secondly, it is traumatic: you can cut yourself. Using a trimmer, you not only save yourself from all of the above inconveniences, but also get the opportunity to do depilation less often.

You need a body trimmer

Unlike a hair trimmer, it has many attachments that allow you to work on different areas of the body.It is more precise and can be used to achieve both perfectly smooth skin and small, even stubble.

Tighten the length gradually

The same principle works with the trimmer as in the barber’s chair: the length must be removed gradually. After all, if you cut off too much, you will have to wait until the hair grows back. So be careful with the trimmer. And don’t press too hard on it, this will make the hair smoother.

Walk on unworked areas

When you brush hair from a large area of the body, you may not notice some of the hair remaining in hard-to-reach areas. To tidy them up, put on the small attachment on the trimmer and turn on the lowest speed.

Forget running around in salons – bikini waxing has never been easier. Let’s try to figure out what methods of bikini depilation exist, and what are their advantages and disadvantages.

Many home depilatory products are available today: hot wax, cold wax strips, and wax cartridge kits. One of the main advantages of waxing is long-lasting results, as the hair is removed at the root. But there is also a drawback – this method can be quite painful. On the other hand, due to the long-term results, waxing can be done much less frequently compared to other hair removal methods. 90,000 Pubic hair removal increases the risk of sexually transmitted diseases

Women and men who regularly trim or completely get rid of pubic hair have a greater risk of getting a sexually transmitted disease than those who it doesn’t.

Physicians indicate that as a result of shaving or waxing, micro-cuts remain on the skin, through which infection can easily penetrate. In addition, according to the supervision of specialists, most often those who regularly remove hair in the intimate area are also more active in their sexual life.

Sexually transmitted diseases are transmitted through unprotected sexual contact or genital contact.

The study was conducted at the University of California at San Francisco with 7,500 adults and is published in the journal Sexually Transmitted Infections.

The report states that the two most likely explanations for the relationship between shaving bikini hair and venereal disease are micro-cracks in the skin, which increase the risk of genital viral infections, and the fact that people who pay more attention to their private parts of the body tend to have sex more often and with more partners.

Zero hairstyle

It was found that men use an electric razor to shave this area most often, while women prefer a regular shaving machine.

One in five adults (of either gender) uses scissors.

Any method of hair removal increases the risk of a sexually transmitted disease, scientists warn

no traces of infection were found on them.

The authors of the report recommend that doctors advise those who regularly shave their pubic hair not to do this constantly or not to have sex until all microcracks have healed.

Three quarters of those who took part in the study (84% of women and 66% of men) reported that such a hygiene regimen is normal for them, and they have shaved, cut or removed hair in the intimate area with wax before.

Among them, 17% called themselves “extreme” in this matter: they remove all their hair at least once a month; 22% do it “very often”, that is, daily or weekly.

Protection against head lice

The study found that any method of hair removal increases the risk of a sexually transmitted disease, and the more often and more radically hair removal is performed, the higher the risk.

Thus, the “extreme” risk increases 3-4 times, especially those infections that are transmitted through direct skin contact, such as herpes and human papillomavirus.

However, there is good news for genital dandies: hair removal in the intimate area protects against the spread of pubic lice, and for those who have an increased risk of getting them, doctors may advise getting rid of the hairline.

What are sexually transmitted diseases ?

  • These include, in particular, gonorrhea, herpes, syphilis and genital warts
  • The most common sexually transmitted disease is chlamydia, which is very easy to get infected
  • Young heterosexual people under the age of 25 are most often infected with venereal diseases years and homosexual men
  • Most of these diseases can be successfully treated, but it is better to start treatment as soon as possible

How to reduce the risk of infection ?

  • Make it a habit to regularly and correctly use condoms
  • Get tested at a sexual health clinic, venereal clinic or consult your family doctor
  • You need to inform your sexual partner about your sexually transmitted disease in order not to spread the infection further
