The company started in 1993 as a squash club in the resort town of Bournemouth in the UK.  Five years later, it became the first UK health club operator to set up operations in other parts of Europe. By the turn of the new millennium, it had opened its 100th club in Cologne, Germany.  The following year, it opened its 200th club, this time located in Shepherds Bush, UK.
