Hybrid Racing Billet K-Swap Mount Kit (96-00 Civic with EG/DC Subframe)

What is the difference between using the stock EK subframe and the EG/DC subframe?

We recommend using the EG/DC subframe over the EK for a number of reasons. Using this subframe allows the engine to sit closer to the firewall improving the axle angle, it moves the weight of the engine closer to the center of the car and increases the clearance between the radiator and intake manifold.

What parts are required to use the EG/DC Subframe?

  • (92-95 Civic or 94-01 Integra) Subframe assembly
  • EG/DC Front LCA
  • EG/DC steering rack (PS or Manual rack both work)
  • All mounting hardware from EG/DC subframe

YOU MUST USE THE EG/DC SUBFRAME IF YOU PLAN ON USING AN RBC INTAKE MANIFOLD. PERIOD.

Hybrid Racing Engine Mounts by Innovative Mounts are a combination of over-engineering and a simplistic design. With a combined experience in the tool making and performance industry of over 50 years, we have the knowledge to produce superior products. We utilize 3D modeling software as well as advanced production methods to ensure that you’re getting a part that will last for the life of your swap.

Each bracket is manufactured from 6061-T6 billet aluminum and kept within specifications utilizing CNC milling machines capable of maintaining tolerances as tight as .0001”. Also, each product is hand assembled and inspected before being packaged and shipped.

Like all Hybrid Racing products, Innovative Mounts are used on our personal cars and are regularly abused. We are positive you will be excited not only about your mounts but about the service you receive from us. With a devout devotion to customer service and support, we have built a customer base that expands the globe.

What is different about these mounts compared to other kits?

The real differences come in the form of comfort when driving and ease of install. Each mount features no-tear tapered polyurethane bushings. This taper eliminates interference between the mount and chassis minimizing vibration throughout the car.

The mounts also offer two settings for engine placement. If you notice the mounting brackets have dual holes, which allow the engine to be placed further backward or forwards depending on which axles are being used. Under normal conditions, with OE style axles, the engine will be positioned as close to the firewall as possible. In the event you are using a racing driveshaft, such as the Drive Shaft Shop level 5.9, the engine may be shifted forward to avoid any interference between the larger center bar and the shock fork.

True Torque Positioning Technology (TTPT). What does this mean?

Our kit was designed to put both the passenger and driver side mount at the same height and directly across from each other allowing the motor to torque evenly resulting in even power distribution to each axle.

Backed by Innovative Mount’s lifetime warranty, these mounts come with a promise that they will not only fit and work great but the assurance that if they don’t, you’ll be taken care of.

So how do you choose what stiffness you need for your application?

The options available are as follows:
NOTE: All Hybrid Racing edition engine mounts come standard with green bushings.
75A Street – Recommended to 80% of our customers. This is the most popular street bushing that combines durability with a level of comfort.
85A Track – 85A bushings should be used in cars that see the track more than the street, or cars that have a significant increase in horsepower.
95A Extreme – 95A Extreme bushings should be used in racing cars only. These are near solid and offer minimal engine movement.

Canvas stretchers for paintings

External shear force.

This force, acting in the plane of the subframe, occurs when the picture, for example, falls at its own angle. In this case, destruction occurs in all corners of the stretcher at the point of attachment of its poles. It should be remembered that the ability of a stretcher to resist such a load mainly depends on the ratio of the smallest size of the stretcher to the width of its sticks (i.e., on the proportion of the arms of the lever of forces, according to Archimedes’ law). The thickness of the sticks has little effect on the resistance to these loads. Therefore, the larger the subframe, the wider the frame should be used.

It is possible, however, to increase the resistance to this type of destruction by installing additional linings in the corners, which is usually done in the production of very large stretchers, with sides of 1.5 … 2 m.

External torsional force.

This force acts perpendicular to the plane of the stretcher and arises, for example, if a painting was compressed by flat objects and crushed by them.Destruction also occurs in all corners of the subframe. The ability of a stretcher to resist such a load mainly depends on the ratio of the smallest stretcher size to the thickness of its sticks (according to the same Archimedes’ law). The width of the poles affects the resistance to these loads to a much lesser extent. Therefore, the larger the subframe, the thicker the baguette should be used. There is no other way to reinforce the subframe against this kind of destruction.

However, the thick subframe sticks out nasty at the back of the frame, which can be seen if you look sideways on the painting.

Internal twisting force.

Stretchers are mostly made of wood, and wooden sticks have an interesting property of spiraling over time. Therefore, stretchers also turn from planes into propellers over time. The rolling speed depends on the type and quality of the wood, but much more on how long and properly it has been dried before being stretched.

There is only one way to counteract this phenomenon – to hang the painting on two hinges, pressing it against the wall.

The twisting of the stretcher can appear immediately after stretching the canvas, since in any case the compressive force that the stretcher experiences inevitably leads to its twisting (according to the laws of thermodynamics, a twisted stretcher has less energy than a flat one). Thus, the speed and strength of the twisting is highly dependent on the compression by the canvas as well.

Compression force.

This refers to the force acting on the stretcher from the side of the stretched canvas. Its value depends on what is stretched, how it is stretched and (in proportion to) the size of the stretched fabric.Batik gives the least tension, a little more – embroidery, then tapestries and Chinese synthetic canvas with ready-made paintings. The greatest effort develops from canvases, primed after stretching, it grows over time, since the oil painting continues to dry for centuries, and can reach tens or even hundreds of kilograms.

Under the action of these forces, the stretcher sticks bend, which leads to deformation of the canvas. The amount of deflection depends on the size of the stretched fabric, tension, time and soil properties. The maximum stick resistance strongly depends on the width of the baguette, and little – on its thickness, according to the laws of Sopromat. However, the deflection of the stretcher poles can easily be canceled out by installing spacers.

Compression force again.

The tension of the canvas that grows over time leads to another type of deformation: since the canvas presses on the sticks only from one side, the sticks of the stretcher rotate around their axis, breaking the fasteners in the corners. The only way to combat this phenomenon is to install corner strips on the rear side of the subframe.

Workshop Canvases_Canvas – canvases_canvases

The founders of the Canvases_Canvas family project Daniel and Masha can talk about the intricacies of making cool stretchers for the modern art industry, as well as how to create a small family business that will not only feed, but also give an opportunity spend more time with the family and not in the office. We have always liked such cozy projects, where love for their work flows from every little thing, whose story is full of non-random accidents that ultimately lead our heroes to where they should be.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Our workshop is engaged in the production of canvases on stretchers, tablets and more recently easels. All this is made of wood, we use only high quality species, we work with beech, pine. The peculiarity of our workshop is that we make the so-called gallery, museum format of stretchers, they are quite wide. This format is used all over the world, but, for example, you will not find this in a domestic art store. There are no such products in well-known retail chains, and such stretchers can be obtained, if not from us, then by making them to order in a single copy.

Contemporary artists in the West use precisely gallery or museum stretchers, it is very popular there. It is not customary for them to additionally frame work in a frame or baguette, the work is self-sufficient due to the thickness of the stretcher, it does not require framing and looks complete. We produce just such stretchers both to order and serially. At the moment, our production allows us to produce canvases on stretchers of any size and in almost any quantity. Perhaps today it can be said that we are the only ones in Russia who serially produce stretchers of the same quality that could be achieved so far only by making a product by hand. Of course, there is China, which has filled the Russian market, but China has now risen in price, besides, what they supply is made of pressed material, from sawdust, and we use solid wood: pine or beech.Chinese products, again, do not use wedges in the design, which significantly reduces the functionality of the subframe.

HOW DO YOU START?

At the end of August, our project celebrated one year since the official start. That is, then we publicly declared ourselves, and six months before that we were preparing production, collecting information, determining how we want everything to look. This is symbolic, but our business was born at the same time when our daughter was born.

Our dream is to see our easels that will stand in every art school, to see the works of talented artists that will hang in some museum or gallery on our stretchers, which will remain in history, to understand that a new one will paint on our canvases. Hopper or the new Warhol.

.

We are both artists, and we have a fairly rich past from education to personal projects. We have been looking for such an occupation for ourselves for a long time, which would be very connected with our professional experience, with artistic activity and at the same time, so that it was necessary for the art industry and would satisfy the modern needs of many artists. And it so happened that during our long trip to the United States, we found what we had been looking for for a long time. Moreover, it was not a deliberate search for something, just often during travels some things just catch the eye, it becomes obvious that they have, but we do not. And so, being in New York, we were choosing something for Masha’s sketches in one of the major art networks and came across canvases that look great in themselves. This was very different from what is sold in Russia. Suddenly an idea was born that seemed ingenious to us.After all, international formats have long been established in the world, and the entire civilized art world has had this for a long time, but for some reason we still sell academic educational canvases on which students work. As a result, professional artists are forced to order something for themselves in the workshops, or to put together stretchers on their own, and not everyone can afford this. And we decided that we can open production as artists who know this cuisine, enter the market with our offer, become the best in this, albeit very narrow, niche.

As a family, we dreamed of some kind of business that would free us from office work, give us the opportunity to spend time together and feed us. The first couple of months we were in the red, then we worked at zero for several months, and after that a small plus appeared. We are still working to make our business as profitable as possible, and the product that we produce is as affordable as possible. Of course, the specifics of business in Russia leave their mark.

When we started, we did not have any starting budget, we were just a married couple without any outside support, we raised everything ourselves, organized it ourselves, found the craftsmen ourselves, etc.d.

HOW HAS BEEN CHANGED?

Interestingly, we started with manual production just to order. From the very beginning, we hired professional cabinetmakers, educated in this regard, handy. They did it well, but their work itself was very expensive. Our friends and fellow artists began to tell each other that there are guys who have opened a workshop, make high-quality canvases, and word of mouth has started to work. Then we changed the workshop because we needed to make large volumes.

And one disgruntled customer also had a noticeable impact on us. It so happened that this situation taught us a lot, and we are grateful to it. After that, we changed a few things in the structural connections of our subframes. There are many varieties of such compounds. A hard connection, for example, looks cool but provides very little functionality. And we began to make connections with wedges, this is a more expensive production process, but the ability to use wedges saves the canvas from sagging and makes the stretcher collapsible.Even on modern canvases, it is often found that the staples that fasten the canvas are visible at the ends, so the artist is forced to buy a baguette, make a frame, and we have the staples hidden in the back in the section of the stretcher, this is stylish, neat and for centuries.

Although I must say that it was very hard for us to hear criticism. Perhaps it will be useful for someone who starts his own business to hear that, no matter how painful and hard it was from criticism, no matter what gloomy thoughts she gave rise to in you, like “no one needs this, I’m doing everything wrong”, critics do not be afraid. We found that when you just humbly accept and listen to some comments, you become stronger and even somehow begin to respect yourself more. It is very hard, as your brainchild, in which you put sweat, blood, money and tears, is criticized, you just give up. It is very important not to omit them and understand that criticism is for growth. Criticism is not the worst thing, and giving up is the easiest thing.

WHO ARE WE?

In addition to production, we still have projects that we want to do with charitable foundations, with artists, but it’s too early to talk about this.On our website, we tried to cover a sphere that is inextricably linked with the visual arts, there, in addition to the online store, there is already a small gallery of those artists with whom we worked, there is a school, we even took the restoration of fine art. We want to combine everything from the production of canvases, on which art will later be created, to the sale of canvases, to include there both school and restoration – this is such a complete cycle.

And this is not an alien story to us, because Daniel had his own gallery in the past. And then he went into marketing, where he raised domestic brands, he was interested in the creation, development and promotion of new brands in the Russian market. After some time, when we were both tired and felt that the time had come, then it was already time to arrange our trip to America, after which our brainchild “Canvas_Canvas” arose.

From childhood, we both knew that our life would be associated with the fine arts. We graduated from the same art school and grew up in the neighboring streets, but didn’t know about it.

.

Suddenly an idea was born that seemed ingenious to us. We decided that we can open production as artists who know this cuisine, enter the market with our offer, become the best in this, albeit very narrow, niche.

.

Masha also has an architectural college, then Moscow Architectural Institute. Already from the 4th year she began to teach fine arts according to her own method and realized that this was her way, she felt comfortable in teaching. She also graduated from the Institute for Problems of Contemporary Art I. Backstein. At the age of 19, she had her first exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. This is a strong fact in the biography, which became a confirmation that everything in this industry works honestly. If you are an artist, you can send your work, and you can be taken without dating to a museum with a big name. And since October of this year, Masha was invited to teach at the MARCH architecture school at Artplay and in Britanka. We are very pleased with this opportunity, it is a great honor for Masha.

WHAT IS DIFFICULT?

As in any young business, we have enough difficulties. It is important for us now to optimize production in order to reduce the cost of the product; we would like it to be available. Today we are at the “average plus” level, what we do is not an economy segment. We want to occupy all segments – from economy to privileged.

In an amicable way, it would be nice for us to increase the pace in everything (production, retail chains, product refinement, packaging), because now it is quite free-spirited, and we need to do everything faster. But to stimulate yourself is quite difficult. When you work for someone, there is always a person who comes and urges you: “Come on, come on.” The most difficult thing here is to strain yourself to do something. And do it not sometime later, but do it right now! Our daughter helps us in this, does not let us sleep since six in the morning, so we start work early.

There is also a professional difficulty – sales. None of us have dealt with sales before. And this is now one of our priority areas. There is a development plan for the company. We want to work with all retail chains that are in Moscow and other cities, large and small, we want to sell our products to Europe. And here we understand that if you cannot do it yourself, then you have to take a person. This is likely to happen soon, but so far we are in no hurry to increase the number of employees. First, we want to bring the product to mind so that it is, like a needle, ideal from packaging to the last touch, and we want to first establish interaction with one or two networks, and only then actively expand.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE?

Our brainchild allows us to spend more time together, and it’s nice that it lives, someone needs it. Our dream is to see, for example, our easels that will stand in every art school, to see the works of talented artists that will hang in some museum or gallery on our stretchers, which will remain in history, to understand what will be to write a new Hopper or a new Warhol, and it will have value in the eyes of the world. In the meantime, we are glad that the artist who buys our canvases on stretchers is satisfied that he knows our product, uses it and advises others.

Our customers say that it has become easier for them to sell what is painted on cool canvases. After all, the canvas itself on a stretcher is a very important detail that plays its role, makes the work finished, ready for sale.

We also noticed that in our social networks a kind of art community is formed by itself from advanced young artists who are constantly exhibited, sold, that is, they are not students, they are already professionals. It seems to us that this somehow distinguishes our workshop from others, because the workshop is those who produce, and we also involve the consumer. For example, novice artists are interested in seeing how others work, how success came to them or not. This hangout on social networks has already exceeded a thousand people – these are our clients, our direct audience, active participants. These are absolutely independent people who can criticize us, they can praise us, they can somehow influence.

90,000 Irina Shanko – Blog – DIY stretcher.

A stretcher is a kind of frame on which artists stretch the canvas.

There are two types of subframe: modular and blind (rigid). The modular (prefabricated) subframe is considered to be more modern and convenient.

Modular subframe.

Blind (rigid) stretcher.

Experienced artists know that even the highest quality canvas tends to stretch and sag over time. This is inevitable due to the influence of external factors on the canvas – humidity and air temperature. The modular stretcher, due to its mobility, allows you to independently adjust the degree of tension of the canvas using the wooden wedges that are included in the product package. At the same time, if you independently assemble a modular stretcher, and then stretch the canvas on it, there is a possibility of the modular stretcher “walking”.
The corners of a blind stretcher, on the contrary, are rigidly fastened together, glued, and sometimes even fixed with wooden triangles. In this case, the only way to get rid of the slack is to drag the canvas.

I would also like to note that the canvas on a modular stretcher is much more convenient during transportation. The canvas or a finished painting is removed from the stretcher, folded up and placed in a tube, the modules are disassembled. This method guarantees safe transportation of your artwork if your painting is not pasty, and in this case, rolling the canvas into a roll will deform the painting.
Deaf subframe, impossible to disassemble and, as a result, much more difficult to transport.
It must be remembered that a large subframe must be equipped with a crossbar or crosspiece, which will protect future work from distortion and sagging.

I just love deaf stretchers more, for many years I have been making them myself. I am convinced that if the technological process is not violated, then the canvas will not sag. Moreover, frequent removal and re-pulling of the canvas onto the modular stretcher will lead to greater damage to the painting.

So, the materials that we need for the independent manufacture of the stretcher.
– wooden block
– miter box and hacksaw
– angle clamp
– pencil
– PVA
– construction stapler and paper clips
– tape measure

Bar.
Bars are sold in all kinds of hardware stores, I used to buy them in Maxidom, and now in the Builder store, there is more choice and it is closer to home.

This is how the end of the bar looks like, the length of which can be up to 3 meters inclusive.

The size of the blocks depends on the size of the painting you are going to make. The larger the painting, the thicker the block. Usually the height of the bar that I take is 2-2.5 cm, the width is from 3-4.5 cm, the length of the bar is also different, usually a 90 cm square picture, 2 bars 2 meters long are enough.

On the top bar, the concept of the bar width, on the bottom, the so-called bar height.

Miter box.
Tray joiner for cutting boards (also any other profile lumber) at an angle usually 45 ° and 90 °.Made of plastic, sometimes wood or aluminum alloys.

There are many varieties of this tool, it all depends on the amount of money that you are going to spend, on the frequency of working with the tool and how much space in your apartment you are ready to allocate for storing this device.

Inexpensive and compact miter box.

Electric miter box.

To be honest, the simplest miter box can be made with your own hands, having at hand a couple of bars and a hacksaw.

You will also need a hacksaw suitable for the miter box.

Angle clamp

Helps to connect two pieces of sawn off at an angle of 45 degrees until they stick together.
It is better to have 2 sets to glue two pairs of corners at once, at the same time.

Construction stapler.
Tool for fastening by nailing in with staples.
Also sold in hardware and art stores. You need to purchase special paper clips for it.

All other items on the list are self-explanatory enough to explain where to get them and how to use them.

Operating procedure.

To begin with, we take a block, and using a miter box and a hacksaw, we saw off an angle of 45 degrees, at the very edge of the block.

After that we turn the bar to the height of the bar, with an obtuse angle down, sharp up, and with the help of a tape measure and a pencil, set aside the desired size of the stretcher.

After that, we saw again this block at an angle of 45 degrees.

The most important thing is not to be mistaken in which direction to cut!
Two slices must not be parallel !!!! It is important that they look like a truncated prism. The photo shows what the correct option looks like.

And the big side is the size of the stretcher we need.

First subframe, best square. In order not to confuse the sides even when connecting the bars.
In this way, we need to cut out 4 bars with the right sides.

Now we take PVA, bars and vice.

If the stretcher is square, then we take any two bars, if rectangular, one long and one shorter.
We smear two cuts, insert into the clamp and fix. It looks like this.

Repeat the same with another pair of bars.

A day later, if everything is done correctly, the corners are glued together, we take them out of the clamp and repeat almost the same thing with another pair of corners, only now we will connect the entire stretcher together.

The subframe should be ready in a day.

Just in case, I still fix all the corners with paper clips from a construction stapler, but it’s important !!!

Only on one side, so that they do not interfere with the correct stretching of the canvas in the future. That is, I fix all 4 corners, but with only one, subsequently the seamy side of the stretcher.

This is how everything is simple, well, problems may arise for the first time, but otherwise you will not gain experience.

I wish you inspiration and creative success.

Stretching the canvas on a stretcher

This is one of the most important moments in preparing canvas for painting, and it should be done with great care and care.

The canvas is attached to the slats of the stretcher as follows: they take a piece of canvas 2-4 cm larger than the stretcher on each side, fold it onto the sides of the stretcher (best of all, folding it in half) and nail the canvas to the slats with small wallpaper nails having edges and small flat hats.Nails with wide heads are not suitable, since the fabric under them is severely destroyed as a result of the accumulation of atmospheric moisture under the head and the resulting oxidation of the metal, the products of which corrode the fabric. The most convenient nails are tex, for them it is not always possible to sell bast shoes.

Stretch the canvas on the stretcher evenly and gradually, with extreme force, while stretching the fabric.

Usually start from the middle of the stretcher and gradually move to its corners.First, drive 2-3 nails into the middle of the upper bar at a distance of 1-2 cm, pull the fabric tightly and then drive 2-3 nails into the middle of the opposite bar. They also attach the canvas to the middle of the other two planks and after that, evenly and strongly pulling it, attach it with nails to the planks, going gradually from the center to the corners.

Stretching the fabric and pulling it on the stretcher should only be done by hand, without using pliers or other tools, the sharp edges of which can easily tear it.If the canvas is large, it is recommended to use special pliers, preferably wooden ones with an emery cloth glued to their cheeks-grippers (Fig. 6).

Fig. 6. Pliers for stretching the canvas

When stretching the canvas, carefully make sure that the warp and weft threads of the fabric are strictly parallel to the slats of the stretcher, avoid skewing the canvas, as the latter always leads to the formation of wrinkles and folds, especially in the corners.

When stretching the canvas on small stretchers (up to 0.5 m), as well as when there is no need to remove the canvas from the stretcher later, nails should be driven into the slats to failure. If it is known in advance that the canvas will have to be removed from the stretcher, for example, when transporting it rolled up, the nails are driven not to failure, but 4/5 of their length.

Having stretched the canvas and fastened it with nails to the slats of the stretcher, it is necessary to wedge the stretcher with the pegs and stretch the fabric well. After that, you should prepare the front surface of the canvas for gluing and primer – carefully cut off the protruding ends of the threads with a safety razor blade, taking care not to damage the fabric. The knots of the threads that come out on the front surface of the fabric must be carefully squeezed with a slightly sharpened wooden stick to the back side.

Canvas dampening

Light moistening of the canvas with clean warm water is of great importance for the preservation of the painting, which eliminates its inevitable shrinkage in the future. Linen canvases produced by our industry have different fabric shrinkage in the range of 1. 01-7.07% of the original fabric size. It is different in both the weft and the warp. One or another degree of shrinkage depends not only on the quality and properties of the yarn from which the fabric is made, but is also largely determined by the nature of the weaving of the threads and the method of manufacturing and processing the yarn.

It is quite natural that the shrinkage of the canvas, which occurs under the influence of moistening with water when the canvas is glued with aqueous glue solutions, is not the same in different types of fabric. Fine-grained, very dense fabrics (from 1.01 to 2%) have the least shrinkage, rare fabrics often give the greatest shrinkage (from 5.74 to 7.5%).Shrinkage occurs in different width and length. Usually the fabric shrinks along the warp (length) by 0.5-1.5%, and the most intense shrinkage occurs along the weft (width).

Shrinkage of fabric, reaching 7.07% in some types of canvases, can adversely affect the preservation of the painting and cause it to crack and shed. To prevent this from happening, it is necessary, by pulling the canvas on a stretcher, slightly moisten it with water, and then let the fabric dry and only after that proceed to sizing the canvas. Thus, preliminary shrinkage of the fabric occurs and the possibility of cracking and shedding of the paint layer of the picture is eliminated.

Canvas, primed on stretcher, linen 100%

For the convenience of the artist, the canvas on which the painting is to be painted is usually immediately pulled onto a stretcher – a frame that gives the painting its shape and size, and also allows the artist to paint on a fairly hard surface of the stretched canvas.

Canvases primed on a stretcher are on sale ready-made, and you can independently choose not only the size of the frame, of which there is a huge selection, but also the composition of the canvas fabric, as well as the type of primer.

In our shop you can buy canvases primed on a stretcher , made of high-strength natural flax of a grayish color, unbleached. The grain size of such canvases can be completely different – from fine-grained canvas to large cells. The final color of the canvas is given by the primer, which is most often produced for sale in white, but can be custom-made in any color that suits you.

Our canvases, primed on a stretcher , are very high quality stretched, do not sag and serve as an excellent base for future artistic creations. But not only the appearance of the final work, but also its durability depends on how well the canvas is stretched, and how the soil is properly prepared, applied and dried.

Canvas stretcher is made of very high quality wood, which can be stored for a long time and does not crack or mold over time. Usually, conifers are used for these purposes: pine, spruce, since their resins protect wood from beetles and are not toxic, as well as strong enough and practically eternal. The canvas stretcher only possesses such properties only when the wood is well dried, in compliance with the correct conditions and drying technology. In our company, craftsmen try to adhere to ancient, proven technologies both for drying and assembling a stretcher, and for making primers for canvases.

The size of the canvas attached to the stretcher can be standard or custom made. If you want to purchase a canvas primed on a stretcher of a non-standard size, you need to make an order in advance, since it takes time for a high-quality drying of a tree of the required length, as well as for drying the primer on a canvas.Typically, the waiting period for the readiness of a non-standard order is up to 2 weeks.

The canvas itself is attached to the stretcher using staple staples, pre-tensioning strongly. There are several options for attaching the canvas: classic, when the canvas is attached to the sides of a stretcher, and modern, with attachment to the back wall.

After stretching on a stretcher, the canvas is primed, most often with emulsion primers, since they are one of the most convenient and high-quality primers for artwork. In this case, the primer is applied to the entire surface of the canvas, including the sides.

You can, of course, buy an ordinary canvas, buy a separate stretcher and stretch the canvas on it yourself, not forgetting to prime it. But the whole process is unlikely to be cheaper than buying a ready-made canvas on a stretcher, made by craftsmen in compliance with all technologies. Indeed, in addition to stretching the fabric on a stretcher, the main labor-intensive process falls on priming, namely, making a primer from scrap materials and applying it to canvas.Drying such a canvas also requires time and certain conditions for drying, which depend on the type of primer. Well, if the soil is not prepared very well (for example, its composition has not been tested by other artists, or the soil has not been completely dried on the canvas), over time, cracks will appear in the picture, or even the oil paint will begin to fall off the canvas, and the color of the paints – fade.

Therefore, we advise you to trust the professionals who have been producing goods for artists not only in Russia, but also in neighboring countries for several decades. Buy only high-quality and proven materials for painting, canvases primed on a stretcher , paints and other art supplies.
