Cotton On Kids Review

Spring/Summer 2013

Having only lived in Australia for a couple of years it has taken me some time to get to know the local brands here, and shopping with three small kids in tow has not made it easy!!  I all too often revert to ordering the kids clothes online from the more familiar UK brands that I have grown up with.

However one local brand that has really jumped out at me is COTTON KIDS KIDS.

You just can’t NOT notice them.  They are bright, vibrant, trendy, full of fun and SUPER cute and it’s often not just me that is drawn into their store, but the kids too.  Miss H and Master J have both become very ‘picky’ when it comes to their clothes and they both now insisting on choosing their own fashion these days (which is a job I’m still having trouble letting go of!!).  I guess it’s a sure sign that they are becoming their own little people.

As a brand Cotton On Kids has really grown over the last few years and their style of clothing is so easy to love.  Apart from always being totally on trend, one of the things I love about Cotton On Kids is that they are affordable.

Last week I was invited to a launch of the Cotton On Kids new 2013  Spring/Summer Range and of course there was no way I wasn’t going!  I think I love shopping for my kids more than I love shopping for me!!

I had such a lovely morning at one of the ‘new look’ stores in Sydney (which looked FABULOUS by the way).

All the store will be getting the ‘new look’ over the next few months and I’m sure you’ll notice when your local store becomes all hip and trendy.  We were also luckily enough to have one of Cotton On Kids awesome buyers to take us through the new range and it was really cool finding out how the designs are put together, where their inspiration and ideas come from and how they are sourced.  (It sounds like a pretty cool job actually).  This spring/Summer range is all about BRIGHT colours, BOLD patterns, Accessories, trendy boys shirts, jersey shorts and LOTS of super cute dress ups!!  There is just so much to choose from that you just have to take a look for yourself.  Whether you have a boy or a girl you won’t be disappointed (and neither will they).

‘New Look’ store in Randwick, Sydney
I had to share this sneak peak of the Halloween dress ups!!  SUPER CUTE!  My Miss H is going to love the pink super cat outfit.
How cute is this little dress in the baby girl range??  I LOVE it

The whole range will be available to buy ONLINE and IN STORE from OCTOBER and it is soooo worth waiting for!!

If you’d like to shop the new range then I have just the thing for you!!  I have one $50 gift card for COTTON ON KIDS to giveaway to one lucky reader.  All you have to do to be ‘in it to win it’ is live in Australia and enter the giveaway below.  GOOD LUCK!!

*Disclosure:  I have not been paid to write this review, although I was gifted a couple of items of clothing for my kidlets and I was invited to attend the launch of the new Spring/Summer Range.  All opinions are my own and I genuinely LOVE this brand, so I really didn’t need to be asked twice!! Professional photographs were supplied to me by Cotton On Kids.

Cotton On sexualised baby clothes

Cotton on releases risque kids’ range Slogans include “I’m a tits man” Parents appalled, call them revolting
BABY clothes boasting slogans such as “The condom broke”, “Pardon my nipple breath” and “I’m living proof my mum is easy” have outraged family groups.

They want the raunchy rompers and tops withdrawn, but unrepentant retailer Cotton On says they are simply meant to be funny, the Herald Sun reports.

Kids Free 2B Kids director Julie Gale bought the items at Cotton On Kids in Malvern on Monday.

Others read: “I’m a tits man”, “Mummy likes it on top”, “Wipe my butt sucker”, “So hot right now”, “I like big boobs and I cannot lie”, “I’m bringing sexy back” and “Practice safe sucks”.

Ms Gale said as a comedy writer and performer she had a great sense of humour, but using babies and children as “a vehicle for sexual innuendo” was unacceptable.  Read more.

CLOTHING company Cotton On has admitted it “crossed the line” and today vowed to withdraw a range of offensive children’s t-shirts, including one making light of child abuse, after a consumers threatened a boycott.

A t-shirt emblazoned with the slogan “They Shake Me” was the last straw for many angry parents, who sent emails and Twitter messages to the company this morning expressing their disgust and an intention to vote with their feet.

Last month Cotton On had stuck by its range of shirts, which included slogans such as “I’m a tits man” and “I”m living proof my mum is easy”, saying there was a place in the market for their “edgy” humour that pushed the boundaries.

But today, as anger spread through the social networking sites, Cotton On finally cottoned on to their customers’ feelings, offering a contrite apology and a promise to withdraw the offending items from sale.

“Cotton On Kids were unaware until recently that the slogans were being viewed as offensive and that they could progressively cause this extent of angst amongst consumers and social groups alike,” the company’s statement released this afternoon said.  Read more.

How Fashion Retailer Cotton On Has Raised Over $100 Million AUD For Children Around The World

Cotton On Foundation In Uganda

Cotton On Foundation

It all began with a phone call from a parish priest, desperate to find a way to help a community ravaged by HIV/AIDS which in the 1980’s had wiped out nearly an entire generation in Southern Uganda. A local priest from Mannya in Southern Uganda, contacted Father Greg Foley, a priest from Geelong, Australia, who in turn reached out to someone he knew – Nigel Austin, the Founder of Cotton On Group.

“He said we have this health centre in Uganda and we need some money for it. So no trouble at all, we wrote a check and that was fine. And I said I’m keen to go over and have a look. And that’s how it all started from there. We jumped on the back of a ute (pick up truck) and went on an 8 hour ride through Southern Uganda on all the back roads and dirt roads and landed in Mannya.”

Nigel Austin Cotton On Founder on the trip that started it all in 2007

Cotton On Foundation

From that simple conversation came a commitment from Cotton On (now the biggest Australian fashion retailer with over 1,400 stores in 18 countries, employing 22,000 workers globally) to helping communities like Mannya and others around the world (South Africa, Thailand, and Australia) which has now cumulatively raised over $100 million AUD and helped thousands of children gain opportunities for a better life.

“We realized that we could break the cycle through empowering the kids and the women, through education and giving them the best chance in life that we have for our kids here in Australia. That’s where we would win. Every cent that we raise we are custodians and we want to make sure it goes to the right place,” said Austin.

The model is simple: Cotton On team associates in stores around the world offer shoppers at checkout a chance to buy additional products (like tote bags, tissues, hand sanitizer, face wipes and mints) where 100% of the proceeds go to the causes. Just to give you an idea of scale — one of these items is sold at the staggering rate of every 1.5 seconds in thousands of stores around the world.

Cotton On Foundation (COF), the internal “nonprofit” then takes 100% of the money and utilizes it in development projects focusing on education (and also healthcare, infrastructure and more.) The Foundation supports 12,500 of students across 23 COF supported schools and has for instance, delivered 17 million meals to students and given 46,000 children access to healthcare. The depth and meticulousness of the work is well documented in the film ‘The Change’ available to view here and also in the Cotton On Field Report available to download here.

Sarah Spiker, Projects Manager of Cotton On Foundation reflects on the journey so far. “What started with the commitment to one community has grown to a beautiful network of robust schools. It has been gradual, but in the last couple of years we have proven that our model works and we can now implement it at scale in Uganda. We are on the way to finalising this in South Africa and Thailand too. Today we are working with 23 schools and are supporting over 12,500 children and young people access quality education at every level from kindergarten school to university,” she said.

Clare Najjemba, Manager for Student Wellbeing talked about what inspired her. “The impact is seen in parents, children and teachers. The children are more determined, they believe in themselves more, they publicly speak out and are children’s rights advocators. Girls are excited to be in school because they do not have to worry about their period. I’m proudest of seeing the progress of children we took back to school after they had dropped out due to different vulnerability reasons. Some are now in high school and some are graduates. Seeing their happy faces when at school or at work keeps me going.”

Clare Najjemba, Manager StudenT Wellbeing, Cotton On Foundation

Nothando Dilmini, HR Advisor in Uganda agreed. “There is a South Africa philosophy called “uBuntu” which mean “I am because we are.” It’s a virtue that reminds me that I am my sister’s keeper and she is mine. At Cotton On Foundation we aren’t just colleagues but we are a global family who are connected by a vision to provide quality education to every child in the world.

Tim Diamond, General Manager of the Cotton On Foundation talked about what the future holds for their work beyond education. “We want to create more practical pathways. Not only more university and vocational opportunities for these students but help develop real jobs. Drive better agriculture, develop amazing farming support, build farmer cooperatives, fund ways to build trade that efficient and rewarding for these individuals and communities to really thrive.”

Tim Diamond – GM Cotton On Foundation

He continued. “When you think about the vast areas that we operate in Uganda, Thailand and South Africa — we can really affect the tide of poverty in those specific areas by 2030. I want to walk back into those regions at that time and see real change. Meet the people we have worked with, and really see a measurable difference, a thriving community and world. It’s going to be an exciting journey.”

In a world where the fashion industry is getting criticised because of its impact on climate change, it is rare to find a good news story of this magnitude. While it is true that Cotton On (like all fashion retailers) also needs to transform its approach to sustainability even faster to meet the climate crisis, this story is a ray of hope in the world and shows another inspiring example of how business can be a force for good. Cotton On is showing a path for all business where integrity and dedication to making the world better can go hand in hand with business success and growth. I can’t wait to see what this amazing company does next.

90,000 What fabrics are used for making children’s clothes: their advantages and disadvantages

More than high requirements. The same applies to fabrics from which children’s clothes are sewn, because in many respects the quality of the finished product depends on the material.

Regardless of whether the woman decided to sew clothes on your own or buy ready-made, the choice of fabric should be taken seriously. Bad, substandard or even simply unsuitable material can harm health of the child.clothes should be comfortable, high quality soft and safe. The same applies to the linen from which these clothes manufactured.

To choose the right material for sewing children’s clothing, it is important to remember a few rules:

  • Choose breathable fabric, whether it is natural linen or artificial fiber, the child’s skin must breathe, not swear.
  • Viscose absolutely not suitable for summer clothes.During the manufacturing process, the fabric is exposed so strong chemical treatment that it absolutely ceases to serve a barrier to ultraviolet rays that are harmful to baby’s skin.
  • Clothing and fabric must be suitable for the age and activity level of the child.
  • Clothes for children under 3 years old should be lightweight and hygroscopic. Seams on clothes should not cause irritation, and for babies they are made from the outside sides so as not to come into contact with the skin.
  • 4-7 years old children are as active as possible, therefore the most suitable material will be natural fabric that allows air to pass through.
  • For the cold season dense materials that can retain and hold warmly.
  • A new thing is not worth it right away put on the child. It needs to be washed or rinsed thoroughly and iron. This is necessary to get rid of dust, bacteria and any contaminants adhered to the fabric, as well as from chemicals that could process a canvas or a finished product.

Stores where you can buy fabric both in bulk and at retail at low prices, an incredible amount. This is the best solution for needlewomen – purchase fabric, not a finished product, and sew clothes for your child yourself. This will save money and be sure as the selected material and manufactured items.

The most popular materials from which children’s clothes are sewn

  • Cotton fabric

Cotton fabric is the most common choice when we are talking about baby clothes. Made from 100% natural materials it has a number of advantages: it is not susceptible to static electricity, has a high level of hygroscopicity and allows the body to breathe.

The disadvantages of natural linen can be considered that it easily crumpled and smoothed out only at high temperatures, and at sloppy wash may shrink. However, these shortcomings are easily eliminated. adding synthetic fibers to the fabric.

Cotton items are comfortable, durable and do not cause allergies. reactions. They are good to wear all year round.

Material with rather low heat conductivity that allows him to maintain body temperature and keep out the cold. This fabric also does not lose its appearance over time.

Practical and suitable for the warm season.

Lightweight, soft-touch material breathes and absorbs moisture, making it suitable for hot weather. It is better not to dry after washing, since wet linen is much easier to iron.

Fleece is very popular for making children’s clothing. it due to its qualities: easy to wash, does not need careful care, dries quickly and does not deform. In addition, the fleece is hypoallergenic and extremely soft to the touch.

Perfectly retains heat, does not lose its shape and is resistant to dirt – thanks to this set of qualities, baby clothes made of wool retain its popularity. The disadvantages of wool are biting and allergenicity. some of its types. Therefore, you need to carefully study the composition, choosing the types the wool is pleasant to the touch and does not cause allergic reactions.

What other fabrics are used for making children’s clothes?

In the modern world, when everything you need can be found in store, it is no longer necessary to sew baby clothes yourself. But this does not mean at all that the need to understand the materials has also disappeared, from which it is made. Fabrics differ from each other not only in price, but and characteristics. And in order to make the right choice, you need to understand what qualities this or that fabric has.

So, what materials are used for sewing children’s clothing:

Composition: 100% cotton.

Ease of processing leads to a low price, due to which chintz has become widespread. He does not need gentle care or special storage conditions, absorbs excess moisture from the body and allows air to pass through. Undyed natural fabric is non-toxic and hypoallergenic, which makes it ideal when choosing clothes and other accessories for newborns.

Of the disadvantages of calico, it can be noted that this material quite easily wrinkled and torn.

Composition: 100% cotton.

Delicate and pleasant to the touch fabric that becomes only even softer with every wash. Dense and very durable material perfectly keeps warm. Its various density provides a wide choice for applications: from bedding to pajamas and clothing. Long lasting, breathable, hypoallergenic material is an excellent option for insulated nursery clothes.

Composition: 100% cotton.

Material not affected by static electricity and has antibacterial properties, also no pellets form on the poplin, which is an absolute advantage for children’s clothing.

The disadvantage is that unscrupulous suppliers can hide the presence of synthetic fiber, which is harmful to allergy sufferers and children. When choosing clothes from poplin, you should carefully check its composition and quality.

Composition: cotton with added synthetic fibers.

Classic corduroy includes cotton in its fabric with the addition of viscose or polyester. It has many advantages, the main of which are strength and durability. Body-friendly matter is good retains heat and is difficult to deform: it does not stretch and is very resistant to pollution.

The disadvantage of corduroy is the need for gentle handling: the fabric can not be roughly rubbed or wrinkled, it can shrink at high temperatures, so when washing it is better not to heat the water above 30-35 ° C. Dry cleaning is ideal.

Composition: 100% cotton.

The thinnest of all types of knitted fabrics. Smooth fabric that stretches very well in width, while maintaining its shape. Allows the body to breathe even in tight clothing, and the ability to absorb moisture – irreplaceable in hot weather. Natural fabric is hypoallergenic and durable, at the same time it does not need careful maintenance – perfectly tolerates machine wash.

The disadvantage is the complexity of processing: on the material stitch marks remain and raw edges are folded.

Composition: 100% cotton.

Thick and breathable material is a good choice for children’s clothing, things made from this fabric are comfortable and warm. Durable and wear-resistant fabric almost does not wrinkle or deform at all, hypoallergenic and has the property of thermoregulation, which allows you to maintain a comfortable baby temperature. It should also be noted that the interlock does not pill, which is undoubtedly an important quality for children’s clothing.

However, with all the advantages of the fabric, the negative moment is that it is not elastic and shrinks when washed in hot water.

Composition: 100% cotton.

Knitted fabric made using a special technique. The fabric is very durable, breathable and does not cause allergic reactions. Easily is clean and does not need special care, which allows you to use clothes from of this material in everyday wear.

The disadvantage of Ribana is its high water absorption, due to which products made of this material dry for a rather long time, and burnout, direct hit sun exposure for a long time, may cause discoloration fabrics.

Due to its properties, this fabric has become indispensable for sewing turtlenecks and similar products.

  • Terry or loop fabric

Composition: 100% cotton or linen.

The official name is frote. Fluffy fabric, all over the surface is covered with loops. Does not shrink during washing and does not fade, holds color well. The material is environmentally friendly and does not cause allergic reactions, breathable and does not interfere with natural thermoregulation – does not cause overheating in the heat and warms well in the cool.Waterproof, however absorbs moisture well, due to which it is often used when production of bedding and bathroom accessories, as well as clothes for babies.

Lack of elasticity is one of the few disadvantages of this material. Also, due to its loops, the terry is susceptible to damage, however, in Unlike knitted fabric, an extended loop can be simply cut off.

Composition: cotton with added polyester and lycra.

The fabric is breathable and hypoallergenic, therefore it is safe used in the manufacture of clothing for children.High fiber density is obtained by interweaving five threads, which provides strength and good thermal insulation properties. The canvas is pleasant to the touch and has a wonderful appearance. Velor is perfect for both adult and children’s clothing.

The disadvantage of this material is the special care conditions, which are necessary to maintain the strength and appearance of the fabric.

Composition: 100% wool.

The oldest known variety of fabric, mainly the advantage of which is the ability to retain heat and provide maximum thermal protection.Animal wool is used to make threads for weaving and knitting, as well as felted products. Using twisted yarns makes wool products strong and wrinkle-resistant. Also natural wool possesses such property as resistance to pollution.

The main disadvantage of wool is that the fabric absorbs moisture from the air. And when wet, it can stretch out strongly, which requires delicate handling when washing and drying. Also the wool of some animals can cause allergic reactions. Therefore, for children’s things high quality and expensive types of wool are used, such as wool merino is soft, environmentally friendly and hypoallergenic. Outerwear is usually made from sheep wool – it does not contain germs and does not harm health.

  • Brushed footer

Composition: optimal – 80% cotton, 20% wool.

The material has an impressive list of advantages. He elastic and durable, even after a large number of washings on the surface no pellets appear. It allows baby’s skin to breathe and absorbs excess moisture, while being able to store heat for a long time.

Single or looped footer made of high quality cotton categories. Clothes and accessories for babies are sewn from thin and delicate fabric. Also, a two-thread footer is used for children’s things, and from a three-thread make outerwear. Footer products are comfortable and pleasant to the body, they practical and durable.

Wash it only at low temperature and dry away from sources of heat and sunlight – under their influence color burns out, and the product is deformed.

Composition: 100% cotton.

Three-layer knitted fabric with diamond stitch. Cotton is pleasant to the body, and the insulation is breathable, and at the same time it is excellent keeping warm. The material retains color for a long time and does not change shape when washing. Soft and warm children’s clothes are made from capiton, also from it envelopes for newborns are often sewn.

Among the disadvantages is the need for careful handling, as well as behind any knitted fabric.

This is the name given to all polyester fibers and materials obtained from polyethylene terephthalate.Polyester – strong and durable, does not require gentle care, retains its shape and does not deform.

Most often polyester complements natural fibers during the fabrication process. Regardless of which it is added to the material, polyester improves the quality of the fabric by bringing its own properties in the canvas. Most often it is used to give greater strength and durability to various materials.

The optimum temperature for washing does not exceed 40 ° C.

  • Velsoft aka microfiber

Composition: polyester.

Despite its artificial origin, it is eco-friendly and hypoallergenic material. Lightweight, soft and durable velsoft serves excellent material for baby clothes, it does not irritate even delicate skin newborns.

Microfiber is absolutely non-breathable, so there is little suitable for clothes in which the child will actively spend time.

Composition: polyester.

Synthetic terry. Despite its artificial origin, the fabric is hypoallergenic and has high air conductivity. Fleece does not absorb moisture, but freely passes it through itself. Thanks to manufacturing technology that creates bouffant and small loops, even getting wet, it retains its insulating properties. It is also quite lightweight and pleasant to the body, does not require delicate care, thanks to which they sew from it soft and comfortable baby clothes.

Polyester nonwoven fabric. Manufactured in several ways:

Thermal – the threads are slightly melted and fastened between yourself. Suitable for making pillows and blankets.

Adhesive – the fibers are bonded using a special glue. A synthetic winterizer made in this way is the cheapest, but it is fast collapses and loses its shape.

Needle-punched – the threads are connected using needles with the smallest jagged. The material made in this way is the most durable, durable and resistant to mechanical stress.

Sintepon – light and soft, it does not absorb water and does not requires careful handling. It is a practical and inexpensive material. However worth remember that a high-quality synthetic winterizer always has a white color.

Its disadvantage is the generation of static electricity and the breakdown of fibers with frequent washings.

Representative of the latest generation of synthetic fillers, in structure very similar to a synthetic winterizer, but outwardly similar to cotton or fluff. Hollow fibers are produced using thermal bonds, and the fibers are twisted into spirals and sealed on both sides.Material not is afraid of washing and perfectly keeps its shape and volume. The advantage of holofiber is excellent thermoregulation: in hot weather it allows overheating, and in cold keeps warm. Holofiber outerwear is able to withstand frosts up to -30 ° C. The peculiarity of this synthetic fiber is that it does not microorganisms and insects, including dust mites, start up.

Fabrics for children’s clothing

Modern children’s clothing is made from various fabrics, natural and artificial, sometimes it is difficult to understand what qualities it has by the name of the fabric. This article describes some of the types of materials that are often used to make children’s clothing.

1. Natural fabrics

Cotton is the most widespread natural fabric in the world.
It is practical (it can be of various colors), natural (suitable for allergy sufferers and people suffering from skin irritations who cannot wear synthetics) and durable material. Cotton is most suitable for the summer season and is breathable. The downside of this material is that the cotton wrinkles, but this pays off with the benefits.
From cotton fibers, thanks to various weaving weaves and some other tricks, you can get a wide variety of fabrics: thick and thin, with fleece and even large pile, very light and very dense and warm.
There are a number of cotton materials that are popular in children’s clothing. These are kulirny smooth surface, interlock, footer, bike, flannel, terry, ribana, pique , velor and many others.

Wool is a natural material that is irreplaceable in autumn and winter. Children in such clothes feel comfortable, as this material maintains a normal temperature. The baby’s skin does not sweat and remains always dry.

Linen is a natural material. It is lightweight, pleasant to the touch, children love to wear linen clothes. Linen is usually used for sewing summer clothes. But flax, like cotton, wrinkles quickly.

Silk is a natural material, it is hygroscopic, shiny and durable. In most cases, due to its beauty, elegant festive clothes for children are made from this material. Silk is sensitive to sunlight, but when exposed to sunlight, silk will fade.

Velor is a delicate, soft natural material, the surface of which consists of many fibers. The pile is located on the fabric in such a dense layer that it is he who determines how velvety and cozy a velvet product will be. This fabric is very durable, it does not lose its appearance and shape, so things made of it, even after a few years, have their original appearance and are ready to wear.Since velor is more a warm material than a cold one, clothes made from it will be useful for your children in autumn and winter. Such fabric is not only pleasant, but also beautiful due to its unique texture.

2. Cotton knitted fabrics

Kulirny smooth surface (kulirka)

One of the most common natural cotton-based materials in everyday life. In another way, she is called the cooler. The curling surface is made on the basis of cotton fiber, which means that it is hypoallergenic and environmentally friendly. It stretches well in width, but does not stretch in length and hardly wrinkles.

Kulirny smooth surface is the thinnest fabric that is made of cotton, this is what distinguishes it from other fabrics based on it. Thanks to this, it is indispensable in the heat, as well as as underwear, an interlayer for sweaters, jackets, etc. The density of its canvas is only from 145 to 180 grams. Its only drawback, which is precisely related to its naturalness, is that many things shrink after washing. This is important to know when buying outfits for toddlers.

Due to the special type of production, it comes in a wide variety of colorful colors, which allows you to sew from it a wide variety of children’s clothing, including for newborns, adult underwear, nightgowns, T-shirts, T-shirts, light robes, summer dresses ..

This is a natural and quite dense fabric, made of 100% cotton. It is smooth and silky on both sides. Interlock is a warm, soft and delicate natural material. This material is recommended for children with sensitive skin, if it is prone to redness, irritation, allergic reactions, and so on. He is pleasant to the body and gives the impression that he simply does not exist. Most often used for sewing linen. The interlock makes excellent children’s T-shirts, T-shirts, panties, blouses, bodysuits, slides and much more. The material has increased thermal insulation (canvas density from 180 grams to 210 grams.) And will keep your body warm and comfortable in any weather. In addition, the convenience also lies in the fact that the clothes practically do not stretch and do not dissolve, they keep their shape well, and this has a beneficial effect on its service life.

Footer is a thick brushed cotton fabric. Thanks to the special weave of the futurized thread, there is a soft fleece on the seamy side. Thanks to him, things become very warm and soft. Other positive properties are hypoallergenic and breathable. The cotton base gives the fabric softness and thermal insulation to this material. The density of the canvas is from 180 grams to 210 grams. It keeps its shape, is pleasant to the body and does not cause irritation even for people with allergies. It absorbs moisture well, “breathes”, keeps its shape well. This material is demanding to care for. If you wash it incorrectly, it will ruin the product made of this material, before washing you need to read the label.

For the smallest kids, it is used in the sewing of warm romper, bodysuit, sweaters, hats, pants, etc.In adult products, this material is used as the main material in tight turtlenecks, sweatshirts, pants, dresses, warm underwear, dressing gowns.

Ribana – is an elastic knitted cotton fabric. The structure of the surface of the ribana in a small strip. This material stretches well in width and fits the figure, it is soft. Ribana is one of the most popular fabrics used in the manufacture of children’s clothing. The material holds its shape well and allows air to pass through, the child is very comfortable in these clothes. The composition of the ribana is cotton with lycra, cotton with lycra and polyester.
The density of the canvas is 170-350 g / m2. The fabric is used for sewing knitted outerwear (for example, a turtleneck), it is also used for sewing cuffs and necks of jackets and other outerwear.

Eraser (ribana) with openwork – a thin dense fabric made of natural cotton with high elongation in combination with press loops, which give a variety of openwork and embossed effects on the cuffs. The fabric stretches well and takes the shape of the body It looks very elegant, therefore it is used for sewing fashionable clothes for children: elegant bodysuits, sandpipers, undershirts, T-shirts, T-shirts and panties, caps and hats.

Piqué – fabric, knitted fabric, produced from cotton yarn or chemical fibers in a complex weave. The fabric has two weft and transverse warp threads, which form a seemingly quilted fabric with embossed transverse ribs or simple convex geometric patterns on the front side.

The popularity of the pique is due to its high quality characteristics. It is incredibly practical and keeps its shape well.

Advantages of Piquet fabric:

Low crease, and the addition of synthetic fibers will further improve this indicator.

The high strength of the fabric works well for wear. The longevity is quite due to the positive characteristics of the pique.Good hygroscopicity of the fabric allows you to make even towels from it.

Breathability will allow the skin to breathe, and clothes to be worn even in summer, despite the dense structure.

Easy care is probably the most unpretentious among knitwear.

Environmental friendliness and hypoallergenicity of such fabric, especially when it comes to 100% cotton.

Summer dresses, suits, summer hats, children’s clothes, and underwear are sewn from cotton piqué.

French knitted piqué became popular around the world when polo shirts were made from it.

A variety of pique is a waffle fabric. The fabric is durable, low-wrinkle, and can be washed well in the machine. After washing, it requires starching.

3. Artificial fabrics

Many years ago, parents were afraid of synthetics. It was believed that a child needs to wear clothes made only from natural fabrics.Modern synthetics are high-tech fabrics.

Parents need to know the following: if in winter a child wears an overalls with an unnatural filler (and modern winter overalls for the most part contain synthetic fillers), then the clothes under the overalls should also be made of the same unnatural fabrics (fleece, acrylic, knitwear with synthetics, thermal underwear). The synthetic lining does not absorb moisture from the body, and any natural underwear or sweatshirts absorb sweat, causing hypothermia. In such a situation, it is also good to use woolen items – wool also conducts moisture to the upper layers of clothing .

Fleece is a thick, warm synthetic “wool” made of polyester fibers. There are many options for fleece, they differ in the way of weaving, density, thickness, and so on. A wide range of products is produced from fleece, sports suits, thermal underwear, outerwear, underwear. This material does not absorb moisture, but conducts it and keeps heat well.Unlike natural fabrics (cotton), good fleece provides the necessary ventilation in case of overheating and removes condensation outside. Fleece will only work if you wear thermal underwear or a T-shirt with synthetics under it.

Acrylic is a tough synthetic fiber. It is called “artificial wool” because acrylic is very close to natural wool in its ability to keep warm. Warm baby blankets and mattresses are stuffed with acrylic. They are lighter than natural wool.In knitting yarn, acrylic is added to wool or mohair to avoid pilling and to prevent the garments from deforming and stretching as much. The disadvantage of acrylic items is that this material does not allow enough air to pass through.

Velsoft – polyester fabric with a delicate soft pile. It is unpretentious in care, light and warm, gentle to the touch. Velsoft is used to make various children’s clothing: overalls, dressing gowns, etc.

Viscose is a rayon. Most manufacturers prefer this material for making lining for suits, outerwear for children, and so on. It is hygroscopic and smooth material, it improves the quality of children’s outerwear.

Microfiber is a thin, elastic and extremely durable material with outstanding hygiene characteristics for synthetics: this fabric has excellent heat resistance along with good air permeability, protecting the skin from overheating and hypothermia. In a weave with nylon, microfiber becomes more dense and wears longer – this combination has found application in the manufacture of light everyday and sportswear for both adults and children.

Characteristics of the properties of fabrics for children’s clothing

Description of fabrics used in the manufacture of clothes for children

KULIRKA – is a smooth thin fabric. On its front side, vertical flat “pigtails” are visible. There is a dense “brickwork” from the inside out. Acrylic (Acrylic) – fabric made of synthetic fibers and has a whole range of qualities that make it popular: it lightweight, soft, but at the same time durable, perfectly keeps its shape.Acrylic fabric also called “artificial wool” – for the similarity of its properties with natural wool. However, acrylic is softer and is not affected by moths, which also adds attractiveness to things made of this fabric.

Acrylic products are warm and comfortable to wear, have a small shrinkage and low hygroscopicity, dry quickly and do not require complex maintenance. They do not fade, perfectly tolerate dry cleaning and are not affected by many other aggressive environmental factors (from weather to man-made).Textile from acrylic it is well painted in the most diverse and bright shades, and the resulting color is securely held in multiple washes.

Of the drawbacks of acrylic fabric, it is possible to note a tendency to electrification and pilling, as well as low air permeability.

Acrylic can be either pure fabric (100% acrylic) or and diluted with fibers of other fabrics, or act as an additive to based on any kind of fabric (wool, cotton, etc.)etc.).

Alpaca (Alpaca) – a new generation of microfiber fabric made of Alpaca llama wool, according to properties and production technology is referred to as micro velor. Alpaca llama wool is warmer sheep wool, but much lighter in weight, little prone to contamination, has extremely low water permeability, is not an allergen. Alpaca is high-nap fabric with a silky sheen, very soft and pleasant to the touch, lightweight and thin.Visually reminiscent of suede, velvet or trimmed fur.

Angora (Angora wool) – wool directly angora rabbit (less often – angora goat), or a fabric made from this wool. Angora wool is very silky, with fine fibers, reminiscent of down. Velor (from the French velours – velvet) – the general name of soft pile materials with a velvety front surface, to which include both fabrics (cotton, rayon, woolen) and and felt, leather. Velor is a fabric made of woolen yarn with a low, very thick and soft bristles. Velor is used for sewing women’s and men’s dressing gowns, baby clothes, sets for newborns. The composition of the canvas is 100% cotton, cotton with polyester and lycra. The density of the canvas is 220-350 g / m2.

Viscose – made from cellulose using rayon method. Excellent wearing qualities. Viscose fibers are used to create fabrics reminiscent of silk, cotton and even wool and linen. Viscose products are good absorb moisture, but lose strength when wet. By it’s nature viscose is considered close to natural fibers and satisfies the highest hygiene requirements. Viscose-containing products are highly breathable and absorb moisture, have good heat-shielding properties and a satisfactory wear resistance.Viscose makes products soft, smooth and silky, creates a feeling of coolness in the heat. These properties make products containing rayon fiber, extremely pleasant and comfortable to wear. By changing the thickness and the nature of the fibers, you can get canvases that are very similar to natural ones – wool, cotton, silk and linen. With the help of viscose, you can improve the properties of cotton: adding it to cotton yarn increases the rate of moisture absorption, which cotton is small. It should also be noted that viscose does not accumulate static electricity (anti-static).Viscose products are easy to clean, but with them must be handled with care – they are not recommended to be squeezed out in a centrifuge.

Jersey – Term Applied:

  • for knitted garments;
  • knitted fabric (single or double), machine knitting with a very fine stitching step, which has a high elongation, smooth surface and is made of combed wool, less often – cotton, silk or artificial fibers.

Interlock – knitted fabric, based on complex fibers with elastic structure. The composition of the canvas is cotton and polyester. The density of the canvas is 240-330 g / m2.

Kapiton is a warmed, three-layer knitted fabric with diamond stitch effect. It is produced, as a rule, one-colored. So as it is a natural material, it not only warms the baby, but also lets air and allows the skin to breathe.Composition – 100% cotton.

Cotton – lightweight printed natural fabric of modern original design and wide range of colors. Due to the high content natural fibers are characterized by increased thermal conductivity and pleasant coolness. This fabric is used for sewing summer suits, sundresses, dresses, blouses, tops, skirts, etc.

Leather has natural elasticity and strength. It breathes and at the same time protects from the wind, absorbs body moisture and repels water.

Imitation leather

Imitation leather – a material that imitates natural leather. Most often you can find leather made of 100% polyester, on a knitted basis, with water-repellent coating. It is thinner than natural, does not wrinkle, is plastic, fits the figure well. Now they sew anything from leather: jackets and raincoats, suits, skirts, trousers, handbags. This material differs mainly in texture

Crepe – term applied:

  • for cotton fabrics with combined crepe weave;
  • all-woolen and half-woolen suit fabrics, worked with crepe weave, due to which the fabrics have a rough surface – crepe effect;
  • silk fabrics made with threads, having high (crepe) twist – more than 1500 twists / m and differing due to this rough surface.

Crepe de Chine

Crepe de Chine (FR.Crepe de Chine) – term used:

  • for silk thread fabrics produced from raw silk in the base and crepe silk in the weft;
  • Fabric of artificial yarns obtained from lightly twisted warp and high crepe weft (areal density – 130 g / m2).

Crepe de Chine has a matt finish.

CREPE SATIN – silk fabric belonging to the group of fabrics made of artificial threads and which is a satin weave fabric with smooth shiny right side and matte crepe back side (surface density – 250 g / m2).Both sides can be used as facial.

Kulir (kulirny smooth surface) – fabric with cross-knit knitted weave, in which a horizontal loop is formed by successive bending of one thread.Kulirny surface (cooler) is used for sewing of linen, summer clothes. The composition of the canvas is 100% cotton, cotton with the addition of lycra and polyester. The density of the canvas is 145-180 g / m2.

KUPRO – viscose with copper-ammonia fibers. Manufactured chemically from natural raw materials – wood and cotton. The fabric has silky shine, drapes beautifully, absorbs moisture well and passes air.

Lycra (eng.lycra) – highly stretchable (up to 400%) fiber, the use of which in a mixture with other provides high tensile and elasticity of the canvas. Smooth, translucent, with a glossy finish. On rough to the touch, with characteristic knots, reminiscent of brocade. Lycra with the addition of elastane is an excellent material for a bathing suit. Dense, resiliently elastic, with a noble matte sheen, it will provide the necessary fit and support even curvy shapes.

Eraser – Stretch cotton knitted fabric with production in a small strip. An eraser is commonly used as a tie for knitted fabric of a different type, for trimming products with edging. Applicable also for sewing knitted outerwear such as turtlenecks. The composition of the canvas is 100% cotton. The density of the canvas is 110-200 g / m2.

Linen -natural fiber. Linen products are very durable, do not wear out for a long time, well absorb moisture and dry quickly. But they wrinkle very quickly when worn. Flax is one of the oldest cultivated plants. He highly hygroscopic, absorbs moisture well and at the same time quickly gives off-evaporating, no static charges are formed on linen fibers electricity, also in the process of wearing it does not turn yellow and does not age, but only it becomes whiter and more pleasant and also, which is important, flax has bactericidal properties. The density of the canvas is 240-330 g / m2.

Mahra or Buttonhole fabric – linen or cotton fabric, the surface of which on one or both sides is covered with a pile of loops main threads.Unlike pile fabrics, in which pile is formed under tension, in terry cloth it is obtained due to free feed weakly stretched base. Terry pile is less uniform and stable, more adherent to the surface of the fabric. Terry fabrics are usually less dense than pile fabrics. Due to its softness and ability to absorb easily in large quantities moisture, terry cloths are used for the manufacture of towels, bathing sheets, robes, rugs, etc.p.

Melange (from the French melange – mixture) – a mixture of different fibers colors or different tones of the same color in one yarn or made from it canvas. This achieves a special coloristic “melange effect”. Melange yarn – yarn made from fibers of different colors. Melange fabric, jersey – melange yarn materials.

Microfiber or Microfiber (English microfibre or microfiber) – fabric made from polyester fibers can also consist of polyamide fibers and other polymers. Its name is fabric received due to the thickness of the fibers, which is several micrometers. Microfiber is used in the production of woven, non-woven and knitted fabrics. Can be used in the manufacture of clothing, upholstery, industrial filters, in harvesting products. Microfiber is highly resistant, it has a rich palette of bright colors, this fabric is completely washable. Fabrics from microfibers are highly absorbent due to their very small diameter of the thread (the fabric is more “spongy”).Properties: does not leave behind fibers, does not fade, does not roll, liquids do not penetrate into the fiber; absorbs much more water than regular fabric; dries quickly after washing. It is used for the production of clothing. Fabric for clothes from microfiber due to its “sponginess” has the ability to well retain warmth, while clothing may be lighter and thinner than others fabrics. Disadvantages: Since the microfiber is based on a polyester thread, it it is not recommended to dry on batteries, iron or subject to heat treatment. After a sufficient amount of fat has accumulated in the microfiber, it completely loses its ability to absorb water.

Modacryl (Modacryl) – modified acrylic fiber from polyacrylic (min. 85%) and other vinyl components.

Modal is a special viscose fiber with high water-repellent effect.

Mohair (eng, mohair) – Angora goat wool, goat hair. The term mohair is used for all types of yarn made from this wool or using this wool in a mixture with others, as well as for products and materials from such yarns. There can be no one hundred percent mohair: it simply disintegrates into separate fibers. To increase the strength, mohair yarns are mixed with other fibers – acrylic or nylon. When mixed with nylon, mohair gains shine and additional strength. Mohair yarn has long, fluffy fibers, soft, airy, silky to the touch, elastic to tear.Colored in bright yet natural colors. The thread is fluffy and light, 2 times lighter than woolen thread of the same length, resulting in economical yarn consumption. Mohair yarn products are very airy and warm. Washing mohair things require special delicacy – it should be carried out in water room temperature using a mild shampoo.

Nylon (polyamide) is a synthetic fabric made from petroleum products. Was created in the 1930s as an alternative to silk. Nylon is prized for its light weight, incredible limit durability, durability, and resistance to damage. In addition, it does not shrink when washing and does not It is also easy to paint, which allows it to be used in wide range of colors. Polyamide (nylon) – synthetic fiber with exceptional tensile strength and high wear resistance.

Polar Fleece

Polar fleece (polar, polartec) – unstructured “felted” polyester, in the production of which special technologies are used weaving fibers and creating a pile.In this case, the pile forms a single whole with basis. Polar fleece retains heat well, almost does not absorb moisture, is pleasant to the touch, does not cause allergies. Thanks to the special processing of the fibers, preventing the pile from rolling away, products made of polar fleece retain for a long time initial appearance. Polar fleece is used for sewing the upper knitwear, sportswear. It differs from ordinary fleece in what they do its made of special fibers, hollow inside. The composition of the canvas is 100% polyester. The density of the canvas is 280-350 g / sq.m.

Polyamide – see Nylon

Polyester is a new generation synthetic material. Good breathable, extra soft and easy to clean. Polyester fabric is highly durable and wear resistance, retains its shape well, does not wrinkle, is resistant to light, low hygroscopic. Polyester is used in various combinations, adding finished products are durable and provide an anti-static effect. Most popular blend of polyester and cotton, however, due to its softness and the ability to dry quickly polyester is added to both wool and rayon.

Polyester is the general name for polyester fibers and materials. Polyester fabrics are strong, durable, but lightweight. They keep their shape well, little wrinkle, resistant to the effects of heat and light, do not require special leaving. The density of the canvas is 130-350 g / m2.

POPLIN – dense, smooth, soft fabric in a small cross hem.Whatever its composition – silk, viscose or synthetic – it is the optimal fabric for feminine dresses and blouses. It is soft and beautiful falling and has a noble luster.

  • Cotton poplin – Due to the thinness and density of the model from such poplin are particularly lightweight and hold their shape perfectly. Moreover, this the fabric is easy to work and maintain.
  • Nylon Poplin – Soft, lightweight, breathable, does not wrinkle.Combines the highest comfort with a striking modern view. Extremely easy to care for: washable at 30 degrees and does not require irons. Once dry, poplin clothes can be put on immediately.

RAMI – high quality, like linen, natural thread obtained from Chinese nettle. The thread is very uniform and smooth with wonderful matte effect.

Ribana – stretch cotton knitted fabric with production in a small strip.Ribana retains its shape well, so usually used as a tie for knitted fabrics of other types. Ribana It is also used for sewing knitted outerwear (for example, a turtleneck). The composition of the canvas is cotton with lycra, cotton with lycra and polyester. The density of the canvas is 170-350 g / m2.

Satin – satin weave fabric of cotton or chemical fiber. Has a smooth, silky facial the surface on which the weft threads predominate; produced mainly plain dyed, printed and bleached. It is used for making dresses, men’s shirts like lining, etc.

Selanik – knitted fabric from cotton and synthetic fibers. Selanic is used to make sportswear. The composition of the canvas is 100% cotton, cotton with polyester, acrylic. The density of the canvas is 200-300 g / m2.

Chintz – lightweight cotton linen fabric bleached yarn weave.Weft and warp threads are of the same thickness. The ornament is applied with a printed heel.

TAKTEL – synthetic material combined with natural threads, gives a feeling of comfort. The thread consists of many superfine fibers, and the more of them in the yarn, the easier it feels. The material is hygienic like cotton, as light as silk, as flexible as polyester.

Knitwear – the peculiarity of knitwear is that its fabric does not weave and knit. The yarn can be woolen, cotton, viscose, etc. Natural fiber absorbs moisture well and allows air to pass through. Cotton jersey is soft and durable. Woolen knitwear is more elastic, than cotton or viscose and keeps its shape well. Synthetic jersey (nylon, polyester, acrylic) is perfectly machine washable, does not wrinkle, does not absorbs moisture, therefore dries quickly. Its disadvantage is the fact that that it does not allow air to pass through and is electrified.Often knitted fabric is knitted from mixed threads. The quality of knitwear depends on the quality of the yarn, the type weaving, knitting density. Pills often form on knitted items. This is due to the addition of synthetic materials, slightly twisted threads, long thread broaches when knitting the fabric, due to improper care behind the thing. The more elastic the canvas has, the more it is rolls down. Especially “like” the pellets are formed on knitwear made of bulky yarn. They sit firmly. But from natural fibers, they can be easily torn off.

Flannel – soft, lightweight cotton or woolen fabric with combed pile; produced with plain or twill weave threads. Woolen flannel is used for tailoring suits and coats, cotton – for warm women’s and children’s dresses, dressing gowns, underwear. There are many varieties of flannel with special names such as Turkish variety – galgas.

Fleece is a bulky warm synthetic “wool” made of polyester that does not absorb moisture, but conducts it. Fleece products very lightweight, highly breathable, elastic and durable. They do not require special care and dry quickly. Due to the large number air contained in so-called “air chambers”, fleece keeps warm well. Its insulating properties are retained even in wet condition.Composition – polyester.

In the production of fleece, special technologies of weaving fibers and creating a pile, thanks to which the produced the pile and the base form a single whole. The properties of the fleece fabric are directly dependent on density, fiber thickness and weave structure. By changing these three values, manufacturers create both delicate underwear and warm outerwear. The main advantages of fleece are light weight, elasticity and softness. Fleece fabrics retain heat well and have unique properties thermoregulation, which provides comfortable ventilation in case of overheating and output to the surface of the product is condensation. The textile fabric is characterized by high durability. Fleece practically does not absorb moisture and dries very quickly. One more the advantage of fleece fabric is “unique” wear resistance. Care material picky, he does not sit down when washing, does not roll (anti-peeling properties), perfectly keeps its shape. Like many textiles, fleece products can be washed in hand or machine wash (“gentle wash” mode) at a temperature of 40C °. Fleece should not be ironed, tumble-dried, or tumble dry. devices (for example, on a battery).Fleece fabrics are actively used for sewing sportswear, home and children’s clothing, clothing for tourism and outdoor activities, for making home textiles (for example, blankets), upholstery of interior items, upholstered furniture, toys, clothing for pets, hats and as a heater for jackets and other outerwear. Often a jacket or the fleece jacket serves as the middle element of the “three-layer” garment, used by fans of extreme sports (the first layer is thermal underwear, the third – a jacket made of “breathable” membrane fabric).

Footer – knitted cotton fabric. Front side footer resembles a kulirny smooth surface, the seamy side is loop-shaped or with combed out pile. The composition of the canvas is cotton, cotton with the addition of polyester. The density of the canvas is 180-330 g / m2.

Cotton – natural fiber, made from the plant cotton. Cotton fabrics include chintz, calico, satin, poplin, taffeta, thick bike, thin cambric and chiffon, denim.Products from cotton is very durable, it is well tolerated by washing and ironing at high temperatures, absorbs moisture very well. On the other hand, when washing noticeably “shrink”, dry for a long time and wrinkle strongly in the sock. Therefore, to the cotton yarns are often added with lavsan or polyester.

Stretch cotton is dense yet surprisingly lightweight. The addition of elastic fibers prevents it from wrinkling too much. Wide range of colors based on many bright “summer” shades, makes this fabric versatile. In dear variations of cotton-stretch there are moments of “haute couture”, for example, feather blotches. The flexible fabric that emphasizes the lines of the body is the same looks good in seductive tops and romantic dresses. Not talking that cotton is one of the most comfortable materials on a hot day.

Silk – threads of glands silkworm caterpillars. Silk fabrics are lightweight and durable. Silk fortress the thread is equal to the strength of a steel wire of the same diameter.Silk fabrics create by twisting the threads in various ways. This is how crepes, atlas, gas are made, fi, itch, velvet. They absorb moisture well (equal to half of their own weight) and dry very quickly. Moisture from sweat quickly evaporates from the surface silk, but stains may remain. Take them out with alcohol. Silk clothes in the cold it warms, and in the heat it creates a feeling of coolness.

WOOL – non-woven fabric, which is thermally bonded canvas, produced by forming a canvas using card and card converter. This layer passes through a thermal oven where the fiber is lightly fixed. Composition: 70% wool, 30% polyester fibers. web width 220cm. density 150-600 g / m2. Used as insulation for clothing, filler for blankets, mattresses.

Wool – wool fabrics keep warm very well, they get dirty relatively little and wrinkle a little. Modern woolen fabrics are divided into two categories: wool and semi-wool. The first contains 90% woolen thread, and the second is 20-90% wool and lavsan, nylon or viscose.(If the content synthetic fibers exceeds 50%, the fabric appears shine and spools). The addition of lavsan reduces wrinkle of fabric. And viscose increases its wear resistance.

Elastane – very expensive synthetic fiber (spandex) and usually mixed in very small quantities with other fibers (within 2-10%). When stretched, elastane fibers can exceed their original length. After the termination of the loads, the fibers return to their original condition; the latest modifications of elastane have become significantly resistant to sweat, cosmetics, oils, fats, marine and chlorinated water and sunlight; is well erased.

When buying clothes, it is necessary to consider how it will behave when worn and how to handle it. Whether it wrinkles or looks great even with prolonged wear – it all depends on what fibers the fabric is made of.Therefore, we present the main fibers of fabrics, their properties and processing methods. Basically, fibers are divided into natural ones – cotton and flax fibers (of plant origin), wool and silk (fibers of animal origin) – and chemical ones. Chemical fibers are also divided into two groups: cellulose chemical fibers – viscose, acetate, triacetate – from vegetable raw materials (cellulose), and synthetic chemical fibers – polyester, polyamide, polyacryl, etc.

One of the most common fabrics.Almost everyone has T-shirts, blouses, cotton shirts. Cotton clothing is lightweight, soft, pleasant to wear in the heat, as it absorbs moisture well. Cotton almost does not warm, that is, it is an ideal fabric for summer clothes. Cotton is a natural fabric of plant origin, does not cause irritation and allergies. Cotton products are practical, have good strength, and are durable. The blend of linen and cotton fibers with the addition of synthetics is of excellent quality, practically devoid of drawbacks in use.Lack of cotton clothes – easily wrinkled, shrinks when washed, turns yellow in the light.

Leaving: white cotton can be washed at + 95 ° C, color – at + 40 ° C. For washing in the machine for white cotton, you can take a universal washing powder, for colored – special for washing delicate fabrics or without a bleach. Drying cotton fabrics in a tumble dryer can cause severe shrinkage, therefore this type of drying is recommended only for items that have a permission symbol on the label.

This is a knitted fabric with one-sided knitting of fine “braids”. Kulirny surface stretches a little in width and almost does not stretch in length, practically does not wrinkle. Kulirka is considered to be the thinnest knitted cotton fabric; clothes from it are light and airy, allowing the body to breathe and ventilate. Composition – 100% cotton.

This is a dense knitted fabric with a smooth front side and a soft warm fleece on the wrong side. This material is resistant to the appearance of pellets and stretching, serves for a long time and does not change shape over time. The soft footer carefully and gently takes care of the baby’s skin, in the footer clothes your child will be warm and comfortable. Since it is a natural material, it is breathable and allows the skin to breathe. Composition – 100% cotton.

Interlock is a knitted fabric that the baby and his mother will really like. This is a soft fabric, pleasant to the body, widely used for sewing children’s clothes for children under one year old, since it does not irritate the delicate skin of the baby at all. The interlock fabric got its name due to the special weaving of its fibers, they create an inelastic knitted fabric, which can also be brushed.Children’s clothing made of interlock does not deform, does not stretch, but it needs special care.

Care: Delicate machine or hand wash at a temperature not exceeding 40 ° C, otherwise, the fabric may lose its softness, the pattern will fade, pellets may appear

Textile material or a finished product, the structure of which is interconnected loops, in contrast to the fabric, which is formed as a result of the interweaving of two systems of threads located in two mutually perpendicular directions. The knitted fabric is characterized by extensibility, elasticity and softness.

Care: Knitted garments made of cotton, wool, chemical fibers and their mixtures should be washed in warm water up to 40 degrees in soapy water, using mild agents specially designed for washing knitwear.

Terry cloth is a light, soft and pleasant to the touch fabric made from natural fibers of linen, cotton, bamboo. Clothes for children made of terry cloth – and these are overalls, and blouses, and dressing gowns, and pajamas – are easy to wash, remain as fluffy and soft as on the day of purchase for quite a long time.It is hygroscopic, i.e. absorbs moisture well, passes air well, but, at the same time, retains heat well. And the denser the terry, the better its warmth – retaining properties. To improve the quality of terry cloth, because it is known that clothes made from natural terry are very wrinkled, artificial thread is added to the knitted terry cloth.

Fabric composition: natural fibers of flax, cotton, bamboo, sometimes with a small admixture of artificial threads to increase the strength and durability of children’s clothing.

Care: Machine and hand wash at a temperature not exceeding 60 ° C, or any other temperature regime recommended by the manufacturer of children’s clothing on the label. It is not recommended to iron children’s clothes made of terry, it is better to hang them evenly and wait until they are completely dry, then things will remain fluffy for a long time.

It should be noted that cotton is the most popular type of fabric in the world.Cotton fibers are one of the oldest on earth – they were used to make clothes for themselves and their children in ancient India and Egypt. And the Babylonians even more so equated cotton with jewelry, calling it “white gold.”

Today, cotton fabric is the optimal solution for the manufacture of children’s clothing. The material is very soft, durable, natural, and therefore hypoallergenic. In addition, it does not generate static electricity. The main advantage of cotton fabric is its ability to perfectly absorb moisture and not let it back out.Together with its excellent carrying capacity, this makes cotton an ideal garment for all weather conditions. It is not for nothing that in the old days, cotton fabric was first of all sewn underwear for newborns. Breathable, soft and very durable cotton is deservedly popular all over the world.

It must be said that things made of cotton can have different density and texture. This factor allows manufacturers to sew a wide variety of clothing models for children. Lightweight dresses, T-shirts, shirts, underwear and socks, even jeans, are all made from regular cotton, which is an extremely durable fabric. The only thing that the material is afraid of is ironing with a too hot iron. When dry under the influence of high temperature, cotton fibers are destroyed. It is for this reason that manufacturers recommend ironing cotton baby clothes through damp gauze or cloth. A more modern solution to the problem is an iron with a steaming function.

Perhaps the only drawback of cotton is that it shrinks after washing. The people say about this phenomenon that the thing “sat down”.Therefore, when buying clothes for a baby, this factor should be taken into account first.
