20 Best Gift Delivery Services in Singapore for All Events [2021 ]

Are you having a hard time finding the perfect gift for a friend’s birthday? Well, we’re about to make things a lot easier for you with our list of the best gift delivery services in Singapore.

Not only do our picks have an extensive collection of gift items, but they can make sure that your present reaches your friend on time too! You’ll get to know more about them here, along with what customers have to say about them.

Before we start, though, we’ll go over how much Singaporeans typically spend for presents each year to help you prepare your wallet.

How Much Do Singaporeans Spend on Gifts Each Year?

We don’t really think about how much we have to spend on a gift until two or three days before the occasion, so we usually end up getting frustrated because we haven’t saved enough cash to buy a friend a special gift.

There’s no other way around it than preparing yourself for all the possible occasions you’re going to encounter for the year and setting aside money for them piecemeal.

You probably know that there’s no running away from birthdays because all your family and friends have them. According to people we asked, they spend about $10 to $20 for birthday presents for their friends and upwards of $1,000 for family members.

When it comes to weddings, it’s acceptable to go a bit over the budget because not all your closest friends are going to tie the knot in the same year. We found that most people spend around $100 to $300 for wedding presents.

If you’re of the age where your friends are starting to build families, another thing you have to worry about is getting presents for baby showers and their children’s birthdays.

We asked some uncles and aunts and found that they tend to spend around $30 to $50 per child of their friends. It’s a bit higher considering that high-quality, child-safe gifts and toys are more expensive.

If you’re in a relationship or have a special someone, you definitely want to impress them with a romantic gift on Valentine’s day. Even if your relationship doesn’t depend on gifts, it’s nice to receive gifts every now and then.

For this, we found that some people spend as much as $200 for a Valentine’s day present. On occasions like this, we think that there’s no limit to the price, especially if you want to give your significant other a gift that they’ll treasure for many years.

Lastly, the most significant present you’ll give someone happens on Christmas day. We can’t stress enough how important it is to plan early, so draw up a list of names deserving to receive a gift from you as early as now.

During the Christmas season, most items are discounted, so you’d be surprised that you can get a $15-gift that’s not a chocolate bar. Most people spend around

$500 to $1,000 on gifts alone during this season.

Customer Reviews

2.   The Imprint

Do you need budget-friendly gift recommendations in Singapore? In that case, there’s no better online gift store to check out than The Imprint.

For one, it makes every gift stand out by monogramming it with the initials of the recipient, making your present even more special. It customises a bunch of everyday essentials like laptop sleeves, phone cases, cardholders, notebooks, and lanyards, among others.

We like that its gift items can match any type of personality. If you have a friend who loves travelling, then he’d surely want a personalised passport holder, while a sociable and extroverted friend would appreciate a customised phone case.

However, we can’t really recommend The Imprint for last-minute gifts because of the longer production time. It takes about one to four days to customise an item, so make sure to order ahead of time.

In terms of deliveries, customers can choose between free shipping or courier shipping. The former takes about two to nine days, while the latter guarantees that your gift will be delivered in less than three days.

  • Free shipping available
  • Reasonably priced products
  • Discount for first-time customers
  • Longer delivery for free shipping

Customer Reviews

Here’s what a customer had to say about The Imprint:

“Highly recommend purchase from The Imprint. Delivery was within 3 days and the quality was top-notch. The laptop bag was nicely personalised as requested and the texture of the bag was furry and comfy. I recommend choosing the tracked courier method as tracking will be provided via email which is very efficient.

Love the product and the great service.” -RK

For one, its fruit baskets are nothing short of gift worthy as they’re made with fresh fruits and high-quality ingredients.

Every order is prepared on the day of delivery, so there’s a guarantee your present will arrive as if the fruits were just picked.

Its expertise doesn’t end with making amazing fruit baskets, though. Whether it’s a gift hamper or a flower bouquet, the folks at Rainbowly will make sure that your present will match the vibe of the occasion.

Rainbowly’s fruit baskets and chocolate hampers have been called “Instagram-worthy” too, but that’s no surprise given that its artists are trained in the UK. That should give anyone an idea of how presentable its gift items are.

Like our previous pick, Rainbowly has an expensive shipping fee. It delivers islandwide at a flat rate of $20 per address, so make sure your pockets are prepared if you’re sending gifts to more than one person.

Customer Reviews

From the easy ordering process to receiving their orders, Rainbowly is considered one of the best gift delivery services in Singapore. Take a look at what a customer named Viv had to say:

“From ordering online, to making changes to the message, the customer service was fantastic! During delivery they even asked if they can call the recipient directly to check if he is home to receive the item. The final item when delivered is as beautiful as what they had shown on the website. Totally impressed with them and the careful handling of the customer. Highly recommended and definitely going to buy from them again!”

Fenny shared this comment on Google Reviews:

“My 3rd order with Rainbowly and they never fail to impress! Service is great, they are very accommodating. I am so ashamed to say that I may be one of the difficult customers from trying to choose my own colours of wrappers and sprinklers to arranging my preferred time slot for delivery. Their response is always one with the best heart of the customers. My recipients felt so loved with their gifts & the amazing presentation. Highly recommended for people looking for unique gifts that are well designed with good quality berries.”

If you’d rather surprise a friend with a delicious cake instead of a regular gift, Zelle & Elle may be the perfect option for you. It’s a local bakery that specialises in pre-made and customised cakes for all occasions.

First thing you should know about Zelle & Elle is that it’s trusted by luxury brands in Singapore, including Vogue, Gucci, Guerlain Paris, Burberry, and Gucci. That says a lot about the quality of its pastries.

All customised cakes need about two days of preparation, so don’t forget to place your order ahead of time if you don’t want your friend to receive their cake a day after their special day.

The good news is that its pre-made cakes and ready-to-eat cakes can be delivered within the day or as soon as the next business day – which works for those who need last-minute gift ideas.

Aside from cakes, other sweets that Zelle & Elle sells are tarts, cupcakes, brownies, and cookies. There are pastries suited for people of all diets as well, including vegetarians and diabetics.

Our only problem with Zelle & Elle is the shipping rate, which starts at $10. We can’t completely fault them for it, though, considering  delivering cakes requires extra care to prevent them from getting damaged – and so far, it hasn’t failed in this area.

Another thing we like about A Better Florist is that it can make flower arrangements for any occasion, whether it’s a friend’s birthday or your parents’ anniversary. You can have the flower bouquets and hampers personalised as well!

When it comes to speed to delivery, A Better Florist is the one to beat. It can deliver your present safely and securely to any spot in Singapore in no more than 90 minutes, faster than what most local florists can do.

Customer Reviews

A Better Florist has been featured on various media publications such as Forbes, Yahoo, The Strait Times, Venture Beat, and many more. These recognitions prove that they are consistent in proving high-quality products and services. Joanna had a very wonderful experience and left this positive review on the official website:

“ A few weeks ago I received a truly gorgeous A Better Florist bouquet which also lasted very well. I was so pleased that I subsequently ordered a bouquet for my mother. She said they were absolutely beautiful.”

As most people say, it’s the thought that counts which is exactly true. Just the fact that you remembered to give them a gift and even have it personalised and delivered, is enough to let them feel that you appreciate and love them.

If you’re looking for the perfect gift for your bibliophile friends, then look no further than KayithJ. Instead of the traditional book accessories, it carries handcrafted book sleeves in various whimsical designs, some of which feature iconic cartoon characters.

These book sleeves are not only fun to look at, but functional as well. They’re waterproof and can fit standard books or reading devices depending on the size chosen.

Aside from handcrafted book sleeves and bookmarks, KayithJ sells tote bags as well. If you have bibliophile friends, you’d know that most of them prefer canvas tote bags over backpacks and shoulder bags.

Much like their special product, these tote bags come in fun designs and are waterproof. Plus, they offer enough space to fit in productivity essentials like books, laptops, planners, notebooks, and pens.

Other everyday items that can be purchased from KayithJ includes enamel pins, wall art, throw pillows, and even face masks. It’s a small craft store, so it doesn’t carry an extensive range of products, but we like that all of its products are useful.

KayithJ ships to almost every corner of Singapore, free of charge! It uses local courier services, though, so we suggest placing your three to four days ahead to make sure it arrives on your friend’s special day.

  • Handcrafted items

  • Worldwide shipping
  • Small store, so limited selection of items

FAQs about Gift Delivery Services in Singapore Can a gift be delivered to a school, church, hospital, or even office?

Yes! Most gift stores in Singapore deliver to almost every corner in Singapore, including non-residential spaces.
However, you have to provide the complete details of the recipient, such as their whole name, contact number, and floor building. If it’s a hospital, don’t forget to include the recipient’s hospital building and floor number.
If you’re sending it to a school, make sure that the class section of the recipient is included.

Can my gift be delivered on a Sunday or a public holiday?

You can definitely have your gift delivered on Sunday, but you have to find a gift store that operates from Monday to Sunday, including public holidays.
If you place an order on a Saturday, it will be processed and shipped out on the next business day, which is Monday.
Based on our list, only a few gift stores in Singapore can deliver on Sundays and public holidays, unless there’s a special occasion like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or Christmas.

What if the recipient isn’t available when the gift arrives?

In case this happens, the delivery rider will call the recipient to inform them that their gift has arrived or ask whether they’re at home to receive the gift. If the recipient doesn’t answer, the gift may be left with a neighbour or the office receptionist.
This is why it’s important to provide the complete details of the recipient when placing an order, so the item can be safely delivered or left with someone in case no one is around to receive it.

What if my gift arrives damaged?

Most gift stores in Singapore follow this protocol in case the recipient gets a damaged gift:
First, you have to take a photo of the damaged gift and its receipt as proof. These are required when you file a damage claim against any store in Singapore.
If the gift store approves your claim, you can either be provided with a gift replacement or a full refund for it.
However, not all gift stores in Singapore entertain damage claims, so you may want to check their store policies before confirming your orders.

And that’s it for our picks for the best gift delivery services in Singapore. If you’re in a rush to send a gift to a friend, don’t hesitate to call any of these gift stores!

If you know other gift stores in Singapore that should’ve been included here, tell us their names so we can check if they’re worthy of being featured here.

Do you want to surprise a friend with a delicious cake too? Well, we have you covered with our list of the best cake delivery services in Singapore.

The Best Gifts for 11-Year-Olds for 2021

Like the bassist in Spinal Tap, your kid has turned it up to 11. Finding age-appropriate gifts for 11-year-old boys and girl can be one long, compounded exercise in frustration — while toddlers are engaged by problem-solving of almost any kind, older kids have their own well-developed interests to consider. The best toys for 11-year-olds, who are caught in that sometimes-tricky spot between little kid and adolescent, should acknowledge that they’re morphing into independent people with their own pursuits and developing social lives.

That makes finding the right gift a challenge — in part because the best birthday gift ideas will be dependent on the specific interests of the 11-year-old in question. Some cling to childhood and some blossom quite suddenly into full tweendom. Most, however, swing wildly back and forth between mature and immature behaviors — and remain more than happy to play with a good toy.

Related: Gift Ideas for 10-Year-Olds

Our favorite toys for 11-year-olds encourage the development of their critical thinking and social skills. Yes, devices are fine. It’s the way of the world. But sometimes (okay, as often as possible), it’s a good idea to leave the devices behind and get kids out in the world and doing something that involves real-world interactions with actual people. Here are the coolest, most developmentally appropriate toys and gifts that the 11-year-old in your life will love.

The Best Toys for 11-Year-Olds

If you’re struggling to get your tween to look up from her phone, this kit should do the trick. Kids hand-draw whatever they want, and then turn the drawings into video games. How? They snap a pic of the drawing, and then play an animated version of it on a phone or tablet.

Ryze makes very expensive drones. But here’s a beginner one that’s great for kids. First off, it shoots incredible photos and videos and has a maximum flight time of 13 minutes. Kids can share videos to social media from their smartphones. Its two antennas make video transmission extra stable. And it performs a ton of tricks.

Part STEM challenge, part classic brain-twister, this smart cube lets players learn how to solve the cube via the app, and track their electronic cube progress. They get stats to help them improve their solve times, and they can battle it out with other gamers online. The cube levels up as the player improves his or her performance. Meaning, a toy that never gets old (or boring).

This awesome building kit is made up of laser-cut wood parts that kids put together the moon buggy and Mars rover. And each one is solar-powered, so all they need is a little sun to get things moving.

If your 11-year-old can focus and follow basic directions, he or she can easily use this creator pen to make 3D drawings that jump off the page. It’s insanely easy to use: Just plug it in, insert the plastic, wait for the pen to heat up, and start extruding. The plastic does get warm, but we’re confident kids in fifth grade can understand that concept.

If your kid dreams of one day working for Pixar…well, this kit should get him or her started. They can use anything they have on hand to create animated films, be it Legos, paper, clay, blocks, what have you. And the kit includes an HD USB camera with microphone, a mini stage with background and ‘green screen’; and stop motion software with time-lapse features, sound effects and backdrops. And, scene.

Robotics sounds boring. It’s not. And there’s no better way to prove that than with this kit, which has tweens building and programming robots. They use sensors, motors, a core controller, and hundreds of snap-together building pieces to assemble ten different robots. And then, they make the robots do their bidding using an app.

Through screen-free coding charms, kids learn about algorithms, encryption, puzzling, sequencing, and variables. How, you might wonder? By making 10 keychain charms. They choose from 18 designs, and code 15 keychains using fuse beads. The kit includes 2,000 fuse beads, a pegboard, a tweezer, reusable iron sheets, 15 key chain clips, and 15 oval hooks.

It may be a minute before self-driving cars are a reality for humans, but meanwhile, this utterly amazing robot car fills in the gap. Kids learn all about artificial intelligence (AI) by training Zumi to navigate any environment; the more she learns, the more adept she becomes at finding her way around. The very clear lesson platform walks kids through writing code. Oh and this cute little vehicle has a built-in 720p camera for object tracking and facial detection. There’s a 60 minute battery life per charge.

NatGeo’s kits are best in class. This one is no exception. Kids choose between 45 experiments and learn to build and erupt a volcano, create a geyser, launch a rocket, and cause crazy chemical reactions. Everything can be done using household items.

You probably held out as long as you could, but your kid now has a phone. So he or she needs earbuds. But kids misplace everything, and these come with built-in Tile technology so you’ll know where they are. Plus, they have 24 hours of battery life.

If your tween is crochet-curious, this is the best kit to get. It’s cute, accessible, and not remotely intimidating. Kids can program this app-enabled robot ball to roll along whatever path they set for it. But it’s much more than that. A wonderful coding toy for older kids, this one is equipped with a gyroscope, accelerometer, and colorful LED lights. You program it using the app, drawing on your screen, using drag and drop coding blocks, or writing JavaScript. Plus, kids can use the Sphero Mini as a game controller for arcade-style games in the Play app. It has one hour of play time.

Sick of nagging your tween to clean the room? And is your tween sick of your nagging? Solve the issue (or at least try to resolve it) with this magical reusable white board. You simply attach the film to an actual, regular white board. Write on the film. Then, digitize whatever is written. And erase and reuse. It’s a nice and fun way to open communication channels, and it’s a smarter way for your tween to get a message across: Stay out of my room.

Back before we had the Oculus or the Xbox or the Switch, we had the basic Nintendo set, in all its glory. The thing made history and retains a true retro flair. And it comes to life with this 2,646-piece model, which is an ’80s-style TV displaying the classic Super Mario game.

This extremely popular electronics exploration kit comes with everything kids need to learn about electricity and circuits. In terms of play time for the price, this toy is an excellent value. It’s also just a really clever toy, with components labeled as they would be in a physics textbook’s circuit diagrams and the ability to add even more to the more than 30 included modules. That includes working models of a photo sensor, a flashing light, and a siren with an adjustable volume. Best of all, these click together and the instructions are easy to follow.

Speaking of lights, these change colors, are remote-controlled, and have clips so your tween can hang photos and other stuff that means something.

This dual-scope microscope, from the makers of real scientific tools, lets kids zoom in on either prepared slides or solid objects, such as insect wings or coins, and study them at 400X magnification. The microscope is lightweight and can be used both inside in the “lab” and outside mid-adventure.

A great toy means kids never run out of ideas, or get bored. Like this toy, which lets kids build and rebuild endless robotic creations with a single kit. The Electric Motors Catalyst gives kids an introduction to electronics, but it’s also ceaselessly generative: Kids can use their hands to build anything they can think up by using the motors, wires, and battery pack, without limit or instruction.

Either your kid already has a phone, or is constantly using yours to take pictures. Let them print them up fast and easy with this handy Fujifilm printer. Kids can easily edit and print photos from your (or their) smartphone.

Not only is this Bluetooth speaker water-resistant, which is pretty obvious. But it can be immersed in up to three feet of water and come out swinging. Your tween will love it and might even be encouraged to bathe. More often.

Traditionally, this symbol wards off bad vibes. Something anyone can appreciate. These earrings are made from either external 14K gold or rhodium plated with internal sterling silver. Because each stud is sold individually, you can mix and match.

It’s charm school. No, really. Kids get 249 charms, as well as pins and pencils, to create three chain bracelets, 16 stretch bracelets, six pencil toppers, three pins, and a chain necklace. It’s crafting and design, next level.

Tweens love anything personalized. And this case delivers. Made from bio-degradable PU, it has an anti-sleep function and camera fold. Choose from a slew of fonts and colors to add nicknames, monograms, and words to make each case utterly unique. Like your kid.

Kids who have maybe possibly outgrown Legos will dig these intricate building blocks. They’re from designer James Paulius and the challenge isn’t just to create a livable space, but to do so without having everything come tumbling down.

One of the coolest guitars we’ve ever doth seen, this one is a real six-string and has a corresponding app that helps teach tweens to play, for real. The body is made of basswood and the strings are made of steel.

By age 11, kids are really starting to take care of their skin, and create a skin care regimen. This unthreatening and colorful set makes it easy to set up a routine that can last a lifetime. There’s a papaya-based cleanser, lemon honey AHA pads, and a cooling gel moisturizer. This particular brand stands out because it excludes 1,300+ dubious ingredients banned by the EU from its products.

Bubble tea is divine. And this kit lets kids make their own. There are two flavors of tea — classic black and rooibos chai — as well as tapioca pearls, and two reusable stainless steel straws. Just add milk.

Gamers, rejoice: This exceptionally comfortable headset, with passive noise cancellation, has immersive sound, a detachable, noise-cancelling microphone, and is compatible with the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices.

From the classic Ravensburger line of GraviTrax toys, a starter set to get the uninitiated on the right track. Modular and interactive, without using a single electron of plug-in power, gravity does all the work here, once kids and parents have designed and built their own elaborate marble runs. Lets kids explore physics, kinetics, and magnetism while racing marbles and having fun trying to engineer faster and wilder tracks. More than 100 pieces and 18 different construction elements, so there’s plenty to keep enterprising kids busy.

What 11-year-old doesn’t want to command an army of insects to crawl all over and conquer their opponent’s hive? A boardless board game that kids can take anywhere — fit together tough, octagonal tiles emblazoned with soldier ants, grasshoppers, spiders, and beetles to capture your opponent’s queen bee. This is basically bug chess, a great strategy-building game for tweens that’s also indestructible. Perfect for road trips and family vacations. Kids can build up their swarm with expansion sets.

Devices are great. Devices are fine. But an old-school high-quality art set? That’s divine. Little else builds creativity like putting pens and pencils to paper. Kids can do that and much more with this set, which includes 24 colored pencils, 24 oil pastels, 24 watercolor cakes, 60 wax crayons, three mixing trays, two drawing pencils, two paintbrushes, sharpener, ruler, eraser, plus multiple drawing pads.

Turn a pretend spa day into a secret science project. This kit will please even a picky tween. Kids use the kit to create DIY bath and body treatments, from a refreshing facial mask to soothing mermaid shimmer gel and relaxing bubble bath bonbons. The recipes are simple and mostly call for ingredients you have around the house. A great lesson in making things from scratch and seeing how ingredients come together.

90,000 Look into the Asian showcase or go to the city of the future

Today they like to remember Singapore when they talk about the development of the economy, about attracting investments, about observance of laws. Say, half a century ago there was a continuous poor, even had to import fresh water, and now it is a city-state, located in the ten richest countries in the world. We will not find out the economic and political background of what happened, but we can see how and how modern Singapore lives. Moreover, more than 10 million tourists visit Singapore every year.

Robert Lowe

Singapore is one of the most energetic metropolises in the world, where several Asian cultures have combined. Hence its uniqueness, originality and originality. And contrast. Old buildings, temples, churches and mosques are adjacent to modern skyscrapers. And it is not for nothing that it is called the showcase of Asia.

Michaela Loheit

But, the beginning, and maybe the end of the journey lies through the Changi airport.Service and services have made it worldwide popular. This airport has received more than 400 certificates as “the best airport in the world”. So nowhere else was the transit or waiting for the flight more enjoyable than in Changi. There is a butterfly garden, where almost a thousand of these Lepidoptera live. You can walk through the Cactus Garden, Sunflower Garden or Orchid Garden, look at the ponds with Japanese carp. Who said fish don’t understand anything? Nonsense! Local individuals are very fond of tourists. Cinemas, MTV music stands, entertainment centers are interesting for both children and adults.Tired on the way? To services of tourists there are transit halls with relaxation. A great option is to head to the rooftop pool of a local transit hotel for $ 14. Next on the list are branded stores, restaurants that will delight even the most fastidious gourmets. If the transit connection provides for several hours at the airport, then you can and should go on free excursions around Singapore.
And now you can go out into the city. And then – who has a soul for what.

PROSarah Ackerman

About daily bread.
Sinagurans are real Epicureans, delicious food is their strong point. And cook and taste. And do not be surprised if the question “How are you?” you will be asked “Have you had dinner already?” The local cuisine has absorbed the traditions of the West and the East, it is unique and surprisingly tasty. Created in 1960, the popular chili crab dish in a thick tomato and pepper gravy has become the hallmark of Singapore. The list of the best local dishes includes Hainanese rice with chicken, shrimp noodles, pork rib soup, laksa soup, saté – marinated in a variety of spices and grilled kebabs, roti prata, fish tamarind curry, rendang beef. A Singaporean lunch is a real delight.

PRODavid Camerer

Main Attractions
After a hearty lunch, you can go to places that are on the must see list of every tourist who comes to Singapore. Sentosa – 15 minutes drive from the city center. The most romantic transport is the cable car. A resort island with clean beaches, first-class attractions, water sports, the Universal Studios park with 24 cool attractions and countless entertainment options, the Song of the Sea water show, the only slide in Southeast Asia reminiscent of sleigh rides and go-karting.The world’s largest Ferris wheel gives you the opportunity to see the iconic and historical sights along the Singapore River from a bird’s eye view in 37 minutes of “flight”. If you wish, you can even order a Singapore Sling cocktail for 69 local dollars in the booth. The area “Little India”, being the Indian enclave of Singapore, will amaze and surprise with exotic sights, rich aromas and enchanting harmony of sounds. There is a whole labyrinth of shops, stalls, jewelry workshops on these streets.Further, our path lies in the Arab quarter, where the palace of the royal nobility is located. The largest mosque in Singapore is also located here. Now Chinatown is on the way – an area of old houses, teahouses, skyscrapers, souvenir shops. Marina Bay is one of the most modern attractions in Singapore. And in five minutes from it the Gardens by the Bay are located – on 100 hectares there is a modern “superpark”, which contains more than a quarter of a million rare plants. To list entertainments and interesting places to visit in Singapore is a thankless task. And it will take more than one hour.

PRODavid Berkowitz

The night away
After excursion walks and the onset of darkness, the time for incendiary parties comes. Nightclubs, rooftop lounges attract with music, entertainment, incredible cocktails in tall glasses and pineapple slices. If after a day’s walks there is at least a little bit of strength left, you should not neglect this – the new route will be aimed at one more conquest of the Lion City. The most prestigious are Pangea and Avalon, which are located in Marina Bay Sands. They are located on the water in a transparent pavilion of complex shape. Up to a thousand people come here per night, and all in order to listen to the best DJs, musicians, to watch dancers from all over the world. You can listen to good rhythms and really “light up” in the Zouk club, which is recognized as one of the best clubs in the world. The two-story Helipad bar is located on the helipad and offers a beautiful view from the roof of a skyscraper to the city at night. And in the evening you can go bowling, walk along the river, look into local pubs, sit in a mini-cafe.

It’s never boring here.
Singapore is willing to include business representatives in their plans. And not only for the sake of vacation, but also for the sake of business meetings, concluding contracts, searching for partners, visiting exhibitions. But even if you are far from business, there are exhibitions worth visiting. Painfully spectacular and interesting. For example, Art Stage is the leading Asian art fair, which is being held for the sixth time this year. She is extremely popular with gallery owners, artists, collectors. Singapore is famous for its variety of holidays and festivals – Chinese New Year, Mosaic Music Festival, culinary extravaganza where the most famous chefs from all over the world gather, Hungry Ghost Festival, Singapore Jewelry Festival, Marina Bay Countdown – a huge party that takes over the whole city, on the eve of the New Year, numerous grand sales, etc. There will be an opportunity – do not miss the chance to come to Singapore in the fall for the Formula 1 race. The whistle of brakes, the noise of engines, enthusiastic exclamations of the audience merge into an incredible cacophony of sounds, the heart is leaping feverishly. Singapore went to the decision of organizing the race in an extraordinary way, as well as to everything – the race takes place at night, but as bright as day, everything is flooded with light. Another specificity is that almost 70% of the route runs along city streets. And when the race was held in such conditions for the first time in Singapore, and it was in 2008, the TV screens had more than 110 million viewers.

Michael Gethen

In Singapore, as in that Greece, there is everything. It is enough to walk along the shopping street Orchad Road to be convinced of this statement. It is the most popular shopping destination with endless rows of luxury boutiques, great shops that are always in demand for fans to wander between the stalls. By the way, some shops deserve admiration not only in terms of assortment or prices, but also as interesting architectural structures. For example, Luis Vuitton Maison Island – a boutique located right on the water, respectively, its entire interior is inspired by the nautical theme. The largest shopping mall Vivo City – the quirky design of the Japanese architect Toyo prevents the gray matter in the head from stagnating. Shopaholics’ dreams are said to come to life at Marina Square, with more than 300 locations, including low-cost brand stores and luxury brand boutiques. The best place to buy souvenirs and mementos is Chinatown. Choices for gifts are classic Singaporean tea or chan mixes such as Gentleman’s Tea or Singapore Moon, a versatile healing oil that is used for dizziness, headaches, stomach pains, rheumatic pains, muscle cramps, etc.It is worth paying attention to the Singaporean shawls – an exclusive brand of environmentally friendly shawls depicting flora, fauna, fragments of history and art.

Gnaw Granite Science
Singapore is a city where you can get a decent education. Educational institutions enter the Far Eastern market, which offer both language programs for schoolchildren. So are business courses for adults. There are academic programs. You can learn not only English, but also Chinese. The Government of Singapore believes that “Educated people are the future of any country” and in accordance with this principle strongly supports the education system at all levels. Therefore, no low quality and no fraud, everything is top notch. Singapore – the city of the future also applies to education. The local universities are included in various top rankings of world universities. Why is it still worth choosing to study in this city-state? There are several arguments: high quality of education; adequate cost of education; the cost of living for a student is significantly lower than in Western countries; for students of economic and financial specialties in Singapore there is an excellent opportunity to do an internship, and if they are lucky, they can also be employed by leading international enterprises.

MDIS – Management Development Institute of Singapore, Singapore

This summer I flew to Singapore with a group from Vladivostok (although I myself am from Khabarovsk), we were accompanied by a wonderful group leader from Students International Maria Anischenko. We traveled for a month from 06/28/14 to 07/28/14, studied at MDIS University, and lived on the campus at the university. A little about training. Upon arrival, we had a test to determine the level of knowledge of the English language. The next day, we were able to see our results, and were assigned to groups. Each group is assigned to one teacher. English lessons were from 8:30 in the morning and ended at 15:30, all breaks were 20 minutes long and from 11:30 to 12:30 – lunch. The main rule in the classroom is to speak ONLY English, even between Russian students, and if you follow this rule, by the end of the trip you start thinking in English! Saturday, Sunday – days off.At the end of the training, there were two final tests and certificates. About Singapore: incredible cleanliness and safety! This is probably the first and most important thing to say about Singapore. Second, there are very sympathetic and kind people living in Singapore. For example, on the first day, I decided to look around and find the nearest metro station, asked a similar one, and he walked me right to the station itself! Third, Singapore is one example of an ultra-modern metropolis that is one of the nodes of modern civilization. If you are a shopper, then you will definitely like it here! And also Singapore combines Chinese, Malay, Anglo-Saxon and Indian cultures, hence monuments, architecture, etc. everything is very mixed! You can find sights of various eras and cultures here. And fourth, Singapore is like a large marvelous garden, buried in palm trees, flowers and tropical greenery, which is very pleasing to the eye. And finally, about the trip itself and the group as a whole. There were 25 of us, or rather, 24 and a group leader, but all 25 became friends and became like a family.First, the campus brought us closer together, since we were constantly together. Secondly, I think we need to say thanks to our group leader Maria. The fact is that excursions were provided for by the program only for the weekend, and on weekdays after school everyone had to go wherever they wanted, someone could stay on campus, but Maria, every evening, offered us to go to a variety of places. She looked for parks, cinemas and took us to different places every night. And if not for these walks, perhaps we would have taken a long look at each other, puzzled over where to go and how to spend the evening. And in conclusion I will say … When we said goodbye, everyone cried! Almost a month has passed, and we are all still texting, talking on the phone, waiting for each other to visit and dreaming of returning to Singapore.

MDIS – Management Development Institute of Singapore, Singapore

Review of the head of a group of schoolchildren from Vladivostok and Primorsky Krai who studied English in Singapore at the Management Development Institute of Singapore: It is no secret that the attitude towards the quality of teaching English in the countries of Southeast Asia has been very suspicious for a long time … Many doubted its quality.Despite the fact that English is recognized as the official language of communication in some of the countries of the region, not every local resident can speak fluently, and sometimes even understand, English, especially when a 13-year-old Russian student asks “How much is coca-cola” , while its broken pronunciation and the same grammar will not be understood by every teacher. I can safely say that our trip completely refuted this belief and confirmed that Asians can understand, speak and teach English if these Asians are residents of Singapore! The summer English program on the campus of the Management and Development Institute of Singapore, which was attended by a group of children under my leadership, has a number of features. In my opinion, the most important of them is the intensity of the classes: children studied from 8.30 to 15.30 with a lunch break, which is quite a lot for summer group programs. After writing the test on the first Monday of the program, the children were divided into levels according to their language skills. I would like to express special gratitude to MDIS for the selection of teachers for the summer program: during the month of my stay on campus, I did not hear a single bad comment from children about my teachers; almost all of which, by the way, were of the Caucasian race.Even on days when some of the guys did not want to go to school at all, because “pouring rain, we will not survive”, “my throat hurts,” “my heel hurts,” “I burned out,” “I watched football at three in the morning and I didn’t get enough sleep, ”one of the main motivations was meeting with the teachers. As a rule, before lunchtime, lessons had a game form aimed at developing communication skills, in the afternoon – writing practice, exercises to develop vocabulary and grammar. The next feature is living in a residence on campus with MDIS students, which allows you to plunge into the academic atmosphere and student life of a higher educational institution.Residential hostel MDIS is located on the same territory with educational buildings and consists of two buildings – male and female parts, the passage to the building of the opposite sex is prohibited and monitored by security guards using cameras. Girls and boys lived in rooms of two. There is a cafeteria on the campus, which presents the cuisines of different countries, including European ones, there are soups, a department with fruits and fresh juices. The guys could choose their own meals to their liking, no one was left hungry (those who stayed could use the services of a convenience store located on campus, where there is always something to eat).Another, in my opinion, the most unusual and useful feature of our program – for which special thanks to the representatives of MDIS – seminars prepared by the departments of the university, the purpose of which was to familiarize the participants of the summer language program with the main areas of study at the institute. It sounds pretty serious, but in fact we did useful, scientifically proven, and fun, practically proven, things: we modeled clothes at the department of design and fashion, made 3-D heroes jump at the IT department, mastered the art of barista at the department of tourism and hospitality management , were a scientist at the Department of Biotechnology. The excursion program in Singapore can be praised endlessly! The beauty of the city can be described as accurately as possible in two phrases, they are also one of the basic principles of the country’s development – “not a garden city, but a city in a garden” and “Asian miracle”. Despite the fact that the area of Singapore is quite small (more than 3 times less than the area of Moscow), the city boasts huge parks, a botanical garden of indescribable beauty, one of the best zoo in the world, a whole island of entertainment Sentosa, on the territory of which is the Universal Studios amusement park and many other attractions, for which it is worth flying to the ends of the earth in hot and distant Singapore.

For all the time I studied in three countries, and my parents entered into contracts with different companies, different cities of Russia. Therefore, I can say for sure that the Dalintour firm in Krasnokamensk and their partner Student International are the most reliable firms in Russia! My training in Singapore was top notch and with a great group leader! The group leader is a very responsible and organized person! It was a pleasure to spend time with her. After all, she always took us to very interesting places in Singapore, was interested in our studies! She always helped us with everyday problems in any situation. I can say for sure that teaching English at MDIS Singapore is the most effective school I have been to before! Even compared to the UK! After all, everyone says that in England you can learn to speak excellent English, but, frankly, you can earn a lot of complexes there! And in Singapore, MDIS teachers, on the contrary, try to make you feel free, not shy.And this is great! Recommend this company and training at MDIS. The best trip of my whole life! Katya Akimenko. This summer we visited the amazing country of Singapore with the aim of learning English. Our trip lasted three weeks, which seemed not enough to practice enough language skills and see more interesting places, which cannot be done by visiting this country. Singapore is truly a country of many different cultures and nationalities. There are a lot of tourist attractions here, so we didn’t have to sit in our rooms for a day. And we lived on the territory of the MDIS University, where our lessons took place every day. The living rooms are designed for 2 people, and despite their seeming small size at first glance, the two of us had enough space. Also on the territory of the university there was a food court, where various dishes of Pan-Asian and European cuisine, a large selection of fruits and refreshing drinks were presented to our choice. The only thing we really lacked was homemade Russian food. Special attention should be paid to the lessons for which we came to Singapore. Upon arrival, all students wrote an entrance test and were divided into 4 groups according to the level of language proficiency. It so happened that 4 teachers managed to work with our group in 3 weeks. And they all made a great impression that they managed to rally and make us all work together. The lessons, of course, were different from what we are used to in our school: we did a lot of creative and creative tasks, sometimes we played, and of course we worked in textbooks. The teachers managed to create a more relaxed than a business atmosphere, when everyone could express their opinion or make any suggestions. We also went with the class to the cinema and on an excursion to the museum. I was also pleased that the university offered us a visit to workshops at various faculties of MDIS, where we tried ourselves as a programmer, bartender, engineer, fashion designer, TV presenter and other professions.Even despite the long school day (school from 8:30 to 15:30 and the workshop from 16:00 to 17:30), this almost always aroused great interest in us and we easily attended both lessons and additional classes. Of the big minuses, we can single out the fact that in addition to groups from Russia, only students from Kazakhstan and Laos studied at the same time with us. Because of this, in the classroom, we habitually spoke to each other in Russian too much, although if we had foreign classmates, we would have practiced English more by communicating with them.In general, the trip left only positive emotions. In addition to practicing the language, we managed to see many chic places in Singapore and visit the main attractions, we made a huge number of new acquaintances and made new friends and just had a wonderful time!

My impressions of the summer language courses MDIS Singapore.I am pleased with our trip to Singapore for 3 weeks. We were housed in a really beautiful modern campus. There are many educational buildings on the territory, which are named after scientists and philosophers. We were accommodated in a 14-storey dormitory building, 2 people per room. On the 2nd floor in the open air, we found a garden overlooking a huge fountain. From time to time we gathered there with friends after class and had a great time. In terms of food, MDIS provides a buffet, but you have to pay for each meal separately. You can find food for different tastes – the food court has cuisines from different countries. I liked Italian food – spaghetti, nuggets, pizza, etc. There are three outdoor pools with different depths within a 3-minute walk from the hostel ($ 0.5 per student). In terms of study, I liked the workshops (additional classes in various subjects) on business, biotechnology, engineering, etc. the most. They were also conducted in English. In these classes, the teachers communicated with us with interest, perceived our opinion, answered questions and were always friendly and smiling.I liked the English lessons too. We were assigned to groups, I got a cool teacher – she taught quite interestingly every day for as much as 6 hours of English. It seems to me that learning English helped me to overcome shyness in dealing with foreigners. During the lessons, since the teacher was English-speaking and did not understand Russian at all, I had to find a common language on all issues. I also talked to passers-by on the streets of Singapore during walks and excursions. On the downside, there are temperature problems in the classroom, because the air conditioner is located in the back of the classroom – so those in front were hot and those in the back were cold. I liked the excursion program. The coolest thing, on Sentosa, we went to various attractions, for example, the Egyptian pyramid (like a roller coaster, but in a closed room) and so on. I also liked buying gifts for my relatives – in Singapore there is a store where all the goods are for $ 2 (like in Japan the “100?” Store).Everything was interesting and informative. I visited Singapore for the first time.

I am studying for my Fashion Design and Marketing degree program. Why did I choose MDIS? This was a fairly straightforward solution. Since childhood, I have seen my mother come up with outfits for herself, me and my sister, make patterns, cut and sew. Since then, fashion has become my passion. I was fortunate to have received my Master’s degree in Economics before coming to Singapore. But at this stage in my life, I want to study fashion and practice English in Singapore. In addition, the quality of education in Singapore is very high, and its cost is much more affordable, and this makes the fulfillment of my dream a reality. To be honest, the program exceeds all my expectations. When I went here to study, I thought that I would receive basic theoretical knowledge in order to continue my studies in Russia. However, in just one semester, I learned to draw from scratch, make professional technical drawings, presentations of collections and portfolios, create patterns and sew. Our teachers have extensive experience in the fashion industry and share their knowledge with us. I like the teaching method, when the theory is necessarily worked out in practice. Before coming here, I was a little worried whether I could study in another language, whether I would find a common language with my classmates. However, the atmosphere is so comfortable, most of the teachers are also foreigners, so I really like the mixing of cultures and languages. Moreover, my school constantly collaborates with well-known companies, giving students the opportunity to create designs for them. In particular, our class was creating a collection of bags for Bata and I won! I was also given the opportunity to meet with the president of Dolce & Gabbana in the Asian region and ask him questions that interest me.I really like the conditions in which we study. This is a large design studio, equipped with modern industrial equipment, and cheerful friendly classmates. Since there are many students from different countries in the class, this is additional knowledge about culture, language and customs. All of this is definitely much more than what I expected, and I am very glad that I chose MDIS! Studying gives me a lot of knowledge about the world of fashion. We study the history of fashion, trends, learn to understand and analyze a lot of different information.Fashion is not only what we wear, by and large it is everything that surrounds us every day. The way I now look at the world is different from my previous vision. Our class has collaborated with one of the largest manufacturers of shoes and bags – the Bata company. I realized that when creating collections, you need to think not only about what you like, but also about your client, calculate the cost of production, understand who you are focusing on. So far, I am just taking my first steps in the fashion world. But I already know how to draw sketches, make patterns, sew, so I want to start with a design assistant. I haven’t looked for a job yet as it takes a lot of time and effort to study. I hope that winning the design and portfolio competition I started building will help me find my place in the fashion world. Thanks to Students International, who advised me on MDIS and organized the process of my admission and obtaining a visa!

This summer I was in Singapore to study English.Students International recommended Management Development Institute of Singapore – MDIS. The campus is huge and very nice with a comfortable hostel and a spacious food court with good variety of .dishes and what I liked very much is swimming pool in two minutes walk. MDIS pays a lot of attention to a quality of education. The English classes were very interesting and my teacher was great! Even though classes lasted for 6 hours I didn’t feel bored or tired. After classes we had workshops which, in my opinion, were very useful as they showed us the opportunities of different professions.I’m so happy I’m going to MDIS after leaving school.

(Head of a group of schoolchildren from Khabarovsk) Summer 2017a small group of children made an exciting and educational trip to one of the most amazing and beautiful countries in the world, Singapore. They were to spend a whole month in Singapore at the MDIS institute, learning English, getting to know the culture of the country and just having fun. The training program involved 6-hour language learning 5 days a week, using various techniques, modern systems and teaching methods. In order for the training program and the process itself to be as effective as possible, at the very beginning the children were tested for their general knowledge of the language, in order to adequately determine the level. Thus, the children fell into different groups, mixing with children from other countries. It is forbidden to speak your own language during lessons. If you want to talk – speak up in English! At the master classes, of which there were a total of 8 for the course of study, the guys were able to feel like real students. These faculties present themselves in this way, giving the children the opportunity to decide on their future profession. Acquaintance with biomedicine, television and radio communications, engineering, business, design, psychology, computer programming and cooking helped to plunge into the real environment of real professionals. The guys lived there on the campus in a hostel for students. These are quite modern buildings, with 2-bed rooms. Boys and girls live in different buildings and visiting by persons of the opposite sex is prohibited by the rules. In general, there is a whole set of rules for living there, which creates safety and comfort. But those who break the rules face punishment in the form of fines or reprimands. There is good free Wi-Fi throughout the campus, which makes it possible to communicate with each other without restrictions. And in general, in a country with high advanced technologies, the Wi-Fi system is present in all institutions, and often without a password. So it is not necessary to take a local SIM card, it is quite possible to get by with an almost ubiquitous Internet access system available. When it comes to food, there is also a varied selection on campus where you can eat quite inexpensively. Local cuisine offers a wide range of dishes from Chinese, Korean, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Malay and some other cultures, including European ones.Of course, summer days were not only filled with study days. The weekend was full of interesting excursions and entertainment. This is a trip to one of the world famous amusement parks Universal Studio, and a water park, and a science and technology center, and their famous zoo with an interesting night safari. Yes, it was great to ride a mini “tram” around the zoo and see animals in an artificially created wild environment, with special lighting that recreates the moonlight. And the walk around the tourist island of Sentosa was remembered for visiting a 3D gallery, a wax museum, an aquarium, going karting, and watching a unique evening laser show.Generally in Singapore in the evening there are free shows on the Sentosa waterfront, such as The Crane Dance and an unforgettable laser show in the Marina Bay area. Both shows are simply striking in their beauty and scale, it is really worth seeing. The Botanical and Orchid Gardens in Singapore are perfect for a family weekend, picnic and play badminton, or simply lie on the huge lawns. Singapore is truly a unique country. Here you can see all the modern achievements of science and technology, there is something to see and what to admire.A comfortable and safe country with almost zero crime rate, since everything is monitored and checked. I cannot but mention the local population. People met, mostly benevolent, decent, ready to help, show, tell. This is a multinational country, on the streets you can hear people speaking different languages. But the common and official language here is English, the so-called “Si-English”. So people with different levels of language training can find themselves an interlocutor. In terms of weather, in addition to tropical heat and humidity, tropical rain can be encountered. So the umbrella and the right shoes come first. All public places and all public transport are equipped with air conditioning, the sharp contrast of heat and cold for some can cause undesirable consequences. It’s especially cold in movie theaters. There are no mass-market pharmacies in Singapore, as we are used to. Medicines are sold only with a doctor’s prescription, and more often they are issued by the doctor himself. The medicine is quite expensive. In pharmaceutical and cosmetic stores such as the Guardian and Watsons, simple honey can be found. preparations and cosmetics. Going to this country, you should familiarize yourself with the local legal order, what is good and what is bad. There are a number of penalties for chewing gum, drinking beverages, eating on public transport, smoking in the wrong place, etc.

Courier express delivery of letters, parcels, goods to and from Singapore.Express tariffs in 24 hours, and economic delivery is 30% cheaper due to direct contracts with airlines

Globally, there are two options to pack yourself or entrust packaging to us .

If you pack yourself , you must follow the rules.

1. Packing must be strong and withstand air and road shaking, cargo planes are prone to turbulence just like passenger planes, and the quality of the road surface sometimes upsets not only in Russia, but also abroad.
2. There should be no empty space in the box, tube, box. All free space should be occupied with bubble wrap, air capsules, special plastic or foam crumbs.
3. According to the regulations of most airlines, the box must be in another box of a larger size, and the distance from the wall is at least 3 cm, this distance must be covered with soft material that creates a safe buffer.
4. The entire box along the stiffening ribs, and it is better to glue the whole box with transparent tape, but note that this must be done after the courier checks the contents.
5. There should not be any extraneous labels from transport or logistics companies on the box, otherwise the robot tape will remove the shipment, as it can scan someone else’s tracking number or bar code.
6. The waybill and accompanying documents must lie both inside the shipment and outside for quick access by customs and inspectors.
7. We strongly recommend to place special stickers on all sides, if the shipment is fragile or cannot be turned over, inside the glass, in which case it can be processed on a special tape with great care.
8. On all sides, glue the delivery address and recipient’s phone number onto the scotch tape.
9. Pack well and with love, assuming that the box must withstand a fall from one meter. Of course, no one will do this on purpose, but we still recommend that you make a package at the rate of “one meter”.

If entrust packaging to us , then any packaging is available: 17 types of cardboard boxes, 7 types of cardboard envelopes, 7 types of plastic bags for small items, 4 types of bubble wrap, tubes of different sizes, containers for alcohol …If you need special packaging, notify us in advance and the courier will bring everything you need. In the warehouse, order in advance a special packaging made of wood and metal, the production time is one working day.
The cost of packaging is negotiated individually depending on the client’s requirements, sometimes when sending to other countries we give the packaging as a gift.

4 days in Singapore is too little to see and understand, but too much… for one video 🙂 Delaying as much as possible the moment when it will still be necessary to sit down for editing this unimaginable jumble of frames that I did there, in the meantime we came to the conclusion that it would not be possible to fit the story about Singapore into one video, no matter how try.

So today in front of you is the first video guide of THREE! In it I will talk a little about the modern, futuristic Singapore-record holder, such as we are used to seeing it in photographs and on TV.

Perhaps, getting to the entertainment island of Sentosa was one of the main desires during my trip.Probably too much impressed by Disneyland or Universal Studios in America. The latter, by the way, is also on Sentosa! And given that Singapore does not like to do something that would not be included in the Guinness Book of Records and did not surpass all analogues that existed before, this place simply had to become my personal paradise. Of course, half a day for such a huge amusement park is too little, but the main thing is that they were there at all, right? We visited the Oceanarium, took a ride on the cable car (which is beautiful in itself, and when the cabin “floats” over the water park – it is somehow indescribable!), Looked at the main island from the height of the giant Merlion itself (a fish with a lion’s head is a symbol of Singapore ) and even got ice cream as a gift 🙂

About the Marina Bay area, famous for its “Avatar trees” and, of course, the very hotel with a panoramic rooftop pool (by the way, the hotel has the coolest view of Singapore!), you can read in one of the previous publications.

The wonderful Elya Aleksekina helped me to shoot this video (seriously, the best guide I have ever had!). She patiently repeated the facts, held the camera. In general, friends, when you are in Singapore – only to her! Here is Eli’s mail: [email protected] . In the meantime, try to find it in the video, in the shots about the evening light show 🙂

New Years in Singapore or the revelations of Santa Claus

Hello friends!

How are you feeling? New Year’s? Do you want to know how New Year’s characters themselves celebrate the New Year, for example Santa Claus ? It turns out that he is not even averse to to meet him in a hot country and under palm trees ! Let’s read Viktor Baskakov’s article about his New Year in fabulous Singapore, and then your mood will definitely become festive! The word to the Author.

Tour to Singapore: how to make money for a heavenly vacation

Spielberg accidentally saw a provincial actor in Moscow: “God! What a type! What is your profession?” – “Actor”. – “This is destiny! In the new film, I need a Russian … I invite you to Hollywood. We pay Brad Pitt $ 20 million, and you, as a newbie, only $ 1 million. Do you agree? ” – “Still would!” – “Fine! Then from December 25 – filming. ” – “Uh, no! .. I have – YOLKI! ..”

Artists always called winter holidays: “New Year’s Chess”.God, how many round dances I had, how many riddles I made, how many gifts I gave away! From how many drunken peasants on the street, trying to pull off my beard, I fought back with a staff, like a spear Ilya Muromets, gratefully recalling the Slavic squad “Lynx”, which taught me the Pskov “Kopeyny school”. In the Year of the Ox, I was photographed on the Bull, in the year of the Horse – on the most humble mare of the Ulyanovsk hippodrome. I was consoled only by the absence of the Dragon and the Tiger on the Volga.

Working hours of Santa Claus: three Children’s Christmas trees in the Palace of Culture: at 10, 12, 14 hours.

But, after spending fifty Christmas trees, I could afford not only Egyptian and Turkish hotels (for three weeks), but even any “five” hotels in the world (at least for a couple of days). And this time, in February, all the funds I received from the grateful parents of “gifted” children, I drove into an expensive trip around the country, which I had only heard about earlier. Listen to you too … For the first time in the history of the blog, I ask you to start reading my story, having included the song in advance (of course, not “A Christmas tree was born in the forest”) – Tango “Magnolia” … Under the bewitching voice of Alexander Vertinsky.

In banana-lemon Singapore: the journey of Russian Santa Claus

It was more profitable to fly to Singapore from Thailand along the route: Bangkok – Singapore – Kuala Lumpur. (Euro then cost – 43 rubles).

Arrival at Changi airport … Singapore! .. Heat – 30 degrees (always). Right there, at the airport, unobtrusively and in a timely manner, they offer baseball caps with a built-in visor … A FAN on a battery. Hearing about the arrival of the flight, the Chinese seller consults with a piece of paper, where the appeal is written in different languages. The most hurried eight passengers, wearing T-shirts with the words “RUSSIA” and “USSR”, cheerfully shouted: “Hello! 25 Singapore dollars “. Eight in a hurry, without bargaining, greedily bought goods …

I, a little behind and came up alone. The Chinese man gave me a sharp look, like a policeman. But … I was wearing a T-shirt with the words “Copenhagen” (and the flight from Denmark, no matter how he listened, did not seem to be announced).I, remembering the Taiwanese guide Ping Houm, my Teacher in “TON” Chinese, in an impeccable “Cantonese” dialect, pronounced a purely F-sharp, 3rd tone, greeting: “NIHAO! .. Hello!” And, taking the “fan” cap by the visor, already in a tone lower: “Yao duo shao quian? ..” (How much does it cost?)

Looking back, the Chinese whispered: “SHI …” (Ten!). I, like one of my acquaintances Abram, exhaled indignantly: “Oooo! “The seller waved his hand respectfully, switching to English:” Okay, five dollars! “. Having put on a baseball cap, I nevertheless ended the dialogue in Chinese with a second tone: “Sese !…. Thanks!” I pressed the button, and the spicy air of Singapore went straight to my nose through the hole in the visor. And I, just on the way out, remembered that my reproachful “Oo-oo-oo! “In Chinese and, fortunately, meant exactly the number” Five “.

On the roof of a neighboring building, a huge lion bared its stone fangs, which gave the name to the city. In Malay and Sanskrit SINGA (Sinha) means “Lion” and Pur means “city”. In Singapore, as well as in China, the New Year’s “ches” should have been going on. But I have not seen either Santa Claus or reindeer teams.

The guide Weiming who met us explained that in European style, the Holiday of December 31, Singaporeans also met, and now, in February – THEIR New Year – the Black Water Snake. Cobras made of pure gold looked at tourists from the windows of jewelry stores and from the walls of buildings … Oh-oh, Buildings! .. Katya, who has visited the edge of Hollywood, will understand me. Skyscrapers! .. This is the main thing that surprises Singapore! But … these are not American, mostly “regular” parallelepipeds, but curved, or smoothed, or even without corners, works of architects – feng shuists.

“Fen – Shui” (“Wind and Water”). This is their Teaching, this is their Icon! Before settling in, a Singaporean brings “Mister Fen” to any apartment, and he shows WHERE to put the bed, and where the TV is … Zakhar, a member of our delegation who is dissatisfied with something, muttered: “Let them teach his wife to cook cabbage soup! .. Maybe they will show also how can I … (out of respect for the readers of the blog, I am continuing the speech “mix it up!”). But he still proudly thought to himself: “How are we, Russians, far removed from the Singaporeans! We really won’t put a bed in the middle of the room. “

Our Guide with genuine black envy declared that the salaries of the masters of “Fen – Shui” are ZAO CLOUD!

While waiting for the bus, the tourists surrounded the souvenir seller, an amazingly beautiful Chinese woman. The main souvenir depicts “Merlion” – “Poluryba-Polulev”. After waiting for my compatriots to be “packed”, I alone approached Surya, as it was written on her badge. Using the same “Cantonese” tactics as at the airport (see text above), I bought a souvenir (here it is in the palm of my hand) for only a quarter of the previously agreed amount. Now black envy seized the whole group … And Surya smiled like the ever-open Singaporean sun. Weiming, by the way, explained that the name of the lovely girl means “Sun”! (What do you call the yacht …).

By bus I managed to get on the second, “open” floor. I not only saw, but also heard and breathed in the magical air of the miracle city of the 22nd century! .. The city of the Future, but – such a real one! The most New Year’s melody was pouring everywhere from unknown loudspeakers: “Vivaldi. Seasons.SUMMER”. Yes, no more, no less … Whoever wants to watch and listen, I will send a Video … I was more “filmmaking” than photographing. And now I am writing a story, turning on Vivaldi and putting lime, cardamom, cinnamon, star anise (star anise), tamarind and a dozen more spices next to me, which my son Ivan, a passionate traveler and culinary specialist, put next to me, to create a complete entourage and enter into memory , in the image and in the era ”.

By the way, Vertinsky wrote a song about Singapore, having never visited it himself. And my compatriots (meticulous, like some of our Blogs) hastened to note that lemons and bananas do not seem to grow in “banana-lemon Singapore”. I personally confirm that I touched the bananas myself on the branch, they are, however, small, not as big as in our stores, but delicious! Lemon, I agree, did not see. Lime was. But! Singaporeans can grow anything if they want! The Great Durian is also growing among them (you know how many prohibitive signs are there so that he is not brought into hotels or other places). The guide, at the bus stop in front of the Raffles Hotel, near the stall of a street fruit vendor, showed us how to peel the intricately cut fruits: longan, rambutan, pamelo, putusan, prum, chico, guava, mango and even Dragon Fruit (“Okay, that not Horses! – Zakhar muttered).

In February, as Moscow reported, classes were canceled due to frost. And here, near the statue of the giant “Fat Dove”), as elsewhere in the world, during recess, local schoolchildren were galloping: white top – dark bottom.Seeing such fun, Zakhar the commentator interrupted again: “Still, always in any month – 30 degrees. No “second shoes”, felt boots or sheepskin coats for you! .. ”By the way, schoolchildren have uniform uniforms! .. White top – dark bottom – white sneakers. “Not that our people are like the Makhnovists! Everything is different! ” – Zakhar completely dispersed.

But then he was interrupted by the information of the guide: “Here it is – the oldest“ Raffles Hotel ”. The cheapest room is $ 700 per day. ” By the color of Zakhar’s face, I understood that such prices are self-indulgence!… The guide, seeing that we were exhausted from the heat, took the whole group to the Long Bar of the hotel and recommended the Singapore Sling cocktail.
– Then you will understand Vertinsky, – Weimin intrigued.

They took it. They took a sip … And, indeed: something “banana-lemon-mango” …
– Look, how dirty they are! – Zakhar nudged me with his elbow. – And they said, in Singapore – cleanliness! ” At some tables, visitors were shelling peanuts and shells … thrown under the table. But the guide explained: “This is only a“ feature ”of Long Bara. And if you try to just spit out the gum or litter it on the street, you will pay … 1000 dollars. “

Singapore is the safest city in the world

Recently, in my story about Taiwan, I mentioned the downright painful attitude of Taiwanese to sorting garbage. But … Singaporeans! .. They outdid everyone! .. And to the name “Lion City” was soon added another: “City of PENALTIES”. (For my “gypsy” hat, I specially bought a “sticky” with drawings for especially stupid ones: what shouldn’t be done in Singapore)! .. You can’t litter! Smoking is allowed only near special bins. Forget the chewing gum! But all these are “flowers”!

For some crimes in Singapore, STICKING (on bare buttocks) is provided.(Zakhar gasped when the guide announced thirty strikes for violating the TERM OF STAY in the country). And not with rods, but with “special” canes “for corporal punishment.” The length of a rattan stick made from a palm stem is 1 meter 20 cm. They are sold in any (!) Store (thinner – for whipping children, they are allowed to do this). Theft, homosexuality, pornography, drunk driving are serious crimes (up to 10 years).

Since 1965 – the declaration of independence in the country, mafia groups have been liquidated (the verdict was passed even on the basis of the testimony of only three witnesses). Then, according to the same scheme, they took up … the communists. Now – for the terrorists … The salaries of judges were raised to a million dollars. Corruption was simply “burned out” … Murder, kidnapping with the use of weapons and drug dealing are punishable by death (by hanging). And this small, poor country has made a giant leap towards the highest standard of living since 1965.

Singapore: see and eat

Weiming took us to the “Fingers” – five hotels depicting the fingers of the left hand. The thumb is shorter – 17 floors, and the rest – 45.

Then we visited the “Fountain of Wealth” (which was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest in the world in terms of water flow). The guide timed the time so that we were in time for the “water touching session.” The huge bronze ring was turned off, and we went to the center of the fountain in order to make a wish, through “ablution”, to wait for its fulfillment.

Past the building of the Theater, which looks like a durian, we drove onto the bridge, and Weimin, like a circus barker, solemnly raised his voice:
– The most famous, newest symbol of Singapore – “Marina Bay Sands”.Hotel and casino on the shore ”. Here it is – this Ship, raised on the roofs of three two-hundred-meter towers at once. From afar, palms of a blossoming park and the famous swimming pool are visible on the “deck” of the ship.

Before lunch, the Guide raised our appetite with statistics: Forbes magazine published a rating of the Quality of national cuisines. The first is Japanese. Singaporean is second! Scientists have tested the effect of local food on health, longevity and physical fitness in general. Singaporeans live an average of 82 years. They don’t have any thick ones at all. We were looking in the crowd on purpose, well, no! The basis of the dishes is rice, vegetables, seafood. I also tried Chinese food here (I will copy the names from the brought menu: Wanton Mee – fried noodles with meat and dumplings with shrimps). The only dish WITHOUT RICE. I hate rice all my life, even though I have tried cool Uzbek pilaf and Taiwanese roast, but … For me, there is nothing better than mashed potatoes for a side dish! Indian cuisine (Murtabak – Indian cakes with lamb. Hooray, no rice!). And Malay cuisine (Satay – miniature skewers on bamboo sticks. With great difficulty, I persuaded to replace the side dish rice with potatoes. Meat – lamb, pork and … some still unfamiliar, but tasty animal, I was afraid to clarify. You know less …).

By the way, Zakhar showed off and ordered “Steak from marbled beef.” He heard in Penza that it was delicious. Weimin was very surprised, but asked the waiter to bring an order that was NOT Listed on the menu. The dish was carried to Zakhara, like the Emperor in a palanquin – with singing, sparklers and rattles. The dude was enjoying the fame … I managed to take a picture of the dish.

The whole table followed the gourmet’s facial expressions. He was frankly delighted with the yummy. And (what a shame!) He clearly did not pretend! .. He cut off a piece to his wife, and she also groaned with pleasure. We felt inferior … until the moment the invoice was submitted. Having looked “like a goat on a poster” at the form, Zakhar squealed indecently: “What? .. 86 American dollars (!) For a piece of beef!” and, in addition, knocked bamboo sauce over his white “planter” pants. (And our inferiority has disappeared somewhere, giving way to … deeply hidden philanthropy).

Weiming changed the route of the excursion, taking us to a Buddhist temple. He put Zakhara closer to the incense and herbal incense burners. Our whimsical companion left there … (No, no, not to another world! .. And to nirvana, where lotuses, mangoes and free steaks).

Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur

Santa Claus’s journey included four days in Singapore and two in Malaysia. You know how, until now, carefully, I keep a ticket with these magic words: Singapore – Kuala Lumpur, experiencing a feeling close to the then gastronomic euphoria of Zakhar with a “marble” bite !….

And now – a new miracle in my life. Kuala Lumpur … International airport from two terminals. LCCT was written on my ticket.

The main terminal building was at most a few hundred meters across the runway. But we passed the control, took the luggage and “flooded” (Zakhar’s words) by bus … 20 kilometers along the bypass road to the main building, where we have already passed registration with the airline. Our new Guide – Rafa explained that this is a temporary difficulty.

And now – we are on the bus again, I am again on the second floor. The capital is 60 kilometers away. Rafa made us happy, saying that his name means “happy”, so there will be no traffic jams on the road. Zakhar shamelessly inquired: “And if you are happy, why do you work as a Guide?” Laughing, Rafa wisely replied that only because of such funny tourists. Zakhar added in an initial tone:
– As for the “traffic jams” on the road, it is probably better to ask the driver. Is he also “Happy?”
– Our driver’s name is Jerry! ”
– American or what? ”
– No, this is an ancient Malay name.Jerry means “Ruler with an iron spear.” (We were waiting with fear for the next comment by Zakhar, but he prudently kept silent, having received an elbow poke in advance from his wife).

And I imperceptibly nodded to the guide in the direction of a small room in the corner of the bus. There, behind a screen, he took out his trusty Dadmorozov costume from his bag. Rafa showed me his thumb. I quickly got dressed, tied up my beard, took the bag with gifts and whispered in the guide’s ear how he should announce a surprise.

Imagine an outlandish picture: a bus with enthusiastic tourists rushes across a distant Green country. The guide announces that the New Year will now appear according to the Eastern Calendar, but since there are Russians here, the symbol must also be Russian. “Friends, let’s create a fairy tale! .. Let’s shout together:“ Grandfather Frost, ay! .. ”After the call of distrustful compatriots, I appeared from behind the screen:
“ Take cover warmly, take care of your ears, nose, –
Walks – wanders along the road Good Grandfather …
(Non-coherent chorus): … FROST! ..

You know, for 40 years of “de-frost” I was always greeted with applause, laughter, enthusiastic screams, but here – for the first time in my practice – … with tears and an unrestrained roar !…. The women saw their Russian grandfather! .. I had to quickly bring everyone to their senses: I hugged Zakhar, wiped his tears with a red mitten and said:
– Well, why are you crying, boy Zakhar? And I brought you marble meat as a present. ” The laughter was hysterical … Then the tears dried up and began, as Sergeant Major Trunov used to say, “applause turning into kicks!” Jerry “turned on” Kalinka … Beer cans clapped and let out foam jets. Zakhar, in a fit of unspeakable generosity, took out a bundle of roach from his bag (but to collect scales he pushed a wicker urn closer).

Our two-story chariot, swaying with emotion, swept like a New Year’s ghost along a perfectly smooth road. I gave away souvenirs and other New Year’s tinsel. The police saluted the Russian Santa Claus, receiving cockerels on a stick for this … The family minibuses overtaking us enthusiastically “beeped” … But, of course, I got the froth of Success! Near our hotel, Rafa asked me not to take off my costume for another five minutes, and in the image of Santa Claus go to congratulate the receptionists – his old acquaintances.Miniature maids fainted, narrow-eyed security guards instantly acquired a “European” eye shape … The Harry Potter bookseller gave me the “Monstrous Book of Monsters” from the 5th book “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban”.

KVN in the elevator

I breathed a sigh of relief only in the elevator. The grateful “boy” Zakhar brought in my luggage as well, loading his wife Lida with his bags.

On the 17th floor, the elevator is briefly stuck. In addition to the three of us, there was a tall Malay, right as tall as me.He looked at Santa Claus not frightened, like Malaysians, but like a Russian … Then he asked:
– Excuse me, will you be at the hotel until evening or will you leave?
– Ha, fellow countryman! – leaned out Zakhar. – From Uzbekistan? ..
– No, I’m from here. Doctor Intan … I studied for five years in Moscow – at RUDN University. And so, in an hour we are going to the room. Meeting fellow students …
– And in their KVN team, could we see you?
– Could … We, however, were in the second line-up (singing and dancing).
– Why did you ask me where I will be?
– You know, how great it would be if Santa Claus came to us on this day, as in Moscow! I would pay! (Zakhar enthusiastically nudged me with his elbow).- Intan, we are only for two days and the excursions are scheduled. Right now we are going to your famous Twin Towers … We will be back late …

– Oh, Petronas Towers? It’s a pity … (He became sad).
Lida turned out to be wiser than the men: “But you can do to make everything work out. You said you are a KVN player? Take Victor’s costume, you are the same height and in an hour arrange a surprise in the room for your friends! Leave the costume at the reception! “
– Great idea, Madame! Let me kiss your hand …
Zakhar for some reason asked:

– Do you give a lot for theft?

Ethan understood the background of the question and answered brilliantly, like a KVN-shik:
– Thirty sticks. But I will save both the Santa Claus costume and my buttocks.

Deuce is a lucky number

In the bus, Rafa bombarded us with numbers: “Malaysia is in the 1st place in the production of electronic chips and household air conditioners … We are the largest oil exporters … And – here it is! Look ahead: the tallest twin towers are 452 meters. The piles are driven to a depth of 100 meters. This is the largest concrete foundation in the world! .. 88 floors. This is a tribute to Buddhists. They have 8 – the number that brings good luck. We enthusiastically photographed the silvery hulk.Yes, there is no SUCH anywhere in the world.

Our women, remembering their birthdays, began to be interested in other numbers. Rafa wisely replied, “You will not remember everything. At the end of the excursion, I will distribute calendars, it is written there. But … the Lucky Number is “Two”.
– It’s good that our fifth-grader son doesn’t know this! – announced Zakhar. Everyone laughed, and Jerry, dashingly turned around, took us to the 88 turtles.

Pond with 88 red-eared turtles. Do you want them to share longevity with you or, for example, your Grandfather? Come, pay, a ritual is held, during which a hieroglyph is written on the turtle’s shell – the name of the One for whom you are asking. That’s all! Go home safely! Grandfather will receive his pension for another twenty years.

– What cute turtles! – Lida was moved. But Rafa showed her to the scars adorning the hands of the uncle conducting the Ritual. Red-eared turtles are predatory, they bite great!

– Oh, Zakhar summed up the excursion. – This Ritualist himself will not live here for long!

In the restaurant, all the tourists took pictures near the Bear in a doorman’s suit. The inscription “I am on duty. Don’t touch me, ”nobody cared. And here, at the table, I again remembered Thailand. The main dish on the menu is the famous spicy and sour soup “Tom-Yam”.

– Rafa, I tried this soup with chicken, with coconut milk, and here, look – shrimp and other animals.
– Yes. With seafood. I’ll write you a recipe for Tom Yam pasta, you need garlic, chili peppers, vegetable oil, sugar, lemon juice …

… The guide’s culinary delights were interrupted by a deafening volley. The sky outside the window was colored with outlandish bouquets of fireworks. The whole EAST celebrated the New Year in an oriental way.

Dear readers of Sochifornia, I wish you a Happy New Year! I wish you Happiness, Health, new exciting travels!

The history of the appearance of the “Mystery Box” or in our “Surprise Boxing”.

The first so-called gift Surprise Box appeared in the American city of Seattle, on one of the city’s sites for the exchange and sale of things. The main essence of this mystery boxing was that a person put together things that he no longer needed in one box, they could be really necessary and good things, but he simply did not use them. In order to sell faster and faster, he set the total price for several goods and sold all this in a closed box, into which he threw a few more useless items, as a kind of bonus to the buyer. In his ad on the site, he indicated that there are both known and unknown goods inside the box, which aroused the interest of potential customers. Later, he realized that he could not specify at all what goods were in his box, but for example just write “sets of things for the house” and put the total amount. After such a successful experiment, quite a few Americans began to sell their belongings in closed boxes.

The most interesting thing is that this option of selling your things in boxes did not take root in the CIS countries. Most likely, our mentality is radically different from the American one, and the financial situation of foreign friends is also much better, which cannot be ignored.

Surprise Boxes and Surprise Gift Pickers, is it a trend in Ukraine?
