How To Apply Powder Foundation?

Explained below are the two ways to apply the powder foundation.

  1. Beauty sponge: One way to apply foundation is with the beauty sponge or a beauty blender. Powder foundations mostly come with their customized beauty sponges in the compact case itself. You can also use your damp beauty blender to apply the powder foundation. Just press the sponge to the powder, collect the required product, and apply directly to face.
  2. Powder brush: The type of brush you use to apply foundation depends on the coverage you are seeking. If you are looking for full coverage, opt for a thick foundation brush or a rounded kabuki brush. If you want less coverage, go for a slimmer brush with fewer bristles.

How To Choose The Right Texture?

The texture of the foundation you choose should depend on your skin type. It could usually be powder, cream, or liquid. Within powder foundation, there are two options: pressed powder and mineral powder.

Pressed powder is usually the best option for touch-ups. But when used without a moisturizer on your skin, it can be quiet drying as it is meant to absorb excess oil. Mineral powder foundation or loose powder is extremely light on the skin and does not clog pores. However, it also tends to absorb excess oil.

So, whichever powder you decide to use, ensure that your skin is well-moisturized and that you are using a hydrating primer before applying the powder for the right texture of the skin. Make sure you check the ingredients and also do a patch test before you buy it to prevent any allergic reactions. As far as possible, pick one that has natural ingredients if your skin is both dry and sensitive.

The 6 Best Foundations For Dry Skin

As long as you’re prepping your skin correctly and wearing the right products, keeping your dry skin comfortable underneath a layer of foundation shouldn’t be all that difficult. First up: The best foundations for dry skin, which usually come in the form of liquids and creams, and are always infused with some sort of hydrating ingredient, such as hyaluronic acid or squalane.

Just as important as which type of foundation you use is how you prep your skin. If you apply foundation right after cleansing your face without using any moisturizer or primer first, your makeup is probably going to look patchy and flaky. So before putting on foundation (or concealer, or any sort of base makeup), start out with a hydrating serum, then, put your moisturizer on top, followed by sunscreen. (You can also choose to use a two-in-one SPF moisturizer, of course.) Primer is optional, but if you notice you have very dry, uneven skin, it may be beneficial to apply a thin layer before moving onto the foundation step. Just be sure to give your skin time to settle between each layer of product (particularly after putting on sunscreen), otherwise your makeup may pill.

Choosing the right foundation is essential, of course — so scroll on to shop six of the best foundations to keep your skin looking and feeling great all day long.

1. Best Foundation Under $5

For less than $5, you can’t do much better than Maybelline’s cult-classic Fit Me foundation. There are actually two foundations in the line — Matte + Poreless (ideal for oily skin) and Dewy + Smooth, which is a much better choice for dryness-prone skin. It’s formulated with vitamin E and glycerin to give it a moisturizing feel, and — just like its name says — leaves behind a smooth, dewy finish with a hint of luminosity. This has SPF 18 for an added boost of sun protection, but you’ll still need to layer on a proper sunscreen first to get the daily derm-recommended dose of SPF 35 or more.

2. Best Foundation Serum

This foundation from L’Oreal feels more like a serum than makeup — it has a light, silky feel and is made with hyaluronic acid to hydrate and plump up your skin. It’ll never look patchy or cakey, and it blends into skin seamlessly with just your fingers. Better yet? This has an SPF of 50, so it may cover all of your a.m. skin care bases in just one step.

3. Another Great, Affordable Foundation You May Like

e.l.f.’s popular Flawless Finish Foundation is another great choice for people with dry skin, though it should work nicely on any skin type, thanks to its lightweight, oil-free formula. Designed to produce a semi-matte finish, it’s rich in glycerin to provide grease-free moisture to thirsty skin, while silicones like dimethicone contribute to its super-smooth feel. Note that while there are only 20 shades listed on this page, you can find more here.

4. Best Liquid Foundation For Glowy, Luminous Skin

Moving onto the prestige beauty products, first up is Anastasia Beverly Hills Luminous Foundation. This lightweight liquid foundation gives your skin a luminous, medium-coverage finish (hence its name), but it doesn’t feel heavy or look cakey. It’s fluid and easy to blend, but once you set it with powder or spray, the water-resistant formula will not budge. Another nice feature? It comes in 50 shades classified by undertone, which makes it easy to find your perfect match online.

5. Best Liquid Foundation With Antioxidants

Exa Beauty’s High Fidelity Foundation is formulated with all sorts of beneficial nutrients, which makes it feel like a makeup/skin care hybrid. To soothe and hydrate dry skin, the formula uses hyaluronic acid and maqui berry, while antioxidants — courtesy of microalgae and other botanically derived extracts — help shield your skin from damage-causing environmental aggressors. This has a really nourishing feel, thanks to ingredients like aloe juice, glycerin, and several plant-derived oils, and it leaves behind a satin-y finish. Slather on a light layer to subtly even out your complexion, or build it up for even more coverage.

6. Best Foundation Compact

If you prefer a foundation compact that you can easily apply on the go, you’ll love Cover FX’s Total Cover Cream Foundation. The formula is enriched with antioxidants to help keep your skin protected from environmental damage, while squalane and glycerin give it a smooth, moisturizing feel. It also contains something called phytosphingosine, a naturally occurring lipid that can help soothe redness and promote generally stronger skin. Though this creamy foundation will work beautifully on dry skin that’s been primed and moisturized, it’s also a solid choice for oily or combination skin, as the formula is oil-free.

Also Consider

Get your dry skin perfectly prepped for foundation with First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Hyaluronic Hydrating Primer. It creates a smooth, plump, even base (while simultaneously providing long-term hydrating benefits) so your makeup glides on without pilling or developing flaky patches. In addition to hydrating hyaluronic acid, it also contains soothing colloidal oatmeal (great for dry skin that’s prone to redness or irritation) and micro-pearls to give your face a lit-from-within glow.

15 of the Best Foundations for Dry Skin to Try This Winter

Finding the best foundation for dry skin is a top priority in the winter months. This is a time when skin tends to itch, crack, and break more than usual—especially for those with sensitive skin. “Winter is a tough time for people who suffer from dry skin. Harsh cold weather, combined with dry ‘heated’ air can make normal routines of daily showers one more complicating factor in keeping skin supple,” says dermatologist Paula Bourelly, MD of Olney Dermatology.

But beyond doubling down on our hydrating face masks and thicker face and body creams, adopting a foundation for dry skin is also a game-changer. “Having a proper skincare routine that’s very hydrating and finishing it off with a hydrating foundation adds longevity and a more flexible wearable finish that ages best over time,” makeup artist Marcelo Gutierrez says. “Keeping the skin fresh and moisturized keeps your glam stretchy, luminous and effervescent.” Gutierrez reaches for Pat McGrath’s Skin Fetish foundation “for its serum-like texture and healthy finish.”

Below, find 15 additional options to help you find the best foundation for dry skin for this winter—and beyond, because why not be extra dewy and moisturized all year-round?

The 21 Best Foundations for Mature Skin in 2021 That Don’t Crease or Pill

Regardless of age, your perfect foundation is likely one that does a pretty great job camouflaging your unique skin concerns while giving you a flawless finish. However, there comes a time where you might want to enlist in one of the best foundations for mature skin the market has to offer. We’re here to guide you on the best options that address things like fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven texture — you know, all naturally occurring things that happen when you live long enough to acquire infinite experience and wisdom.

As you grow older, your complexion gains texture, but that’s nothing to fret about. You just need to know what you’re dealing with when choosing what makeup products to buy. “Fine — or not so fine — lines and larger pores can make foundation look mask-like at best and incredibly unflattering at the worst,” explains makeup artist Fiona Stiles. “Finding a [hydrating] foundation that melts into the skin is paramount for looking fresh. Anything too heavy will settle into lines and do the opposite of what you’re looking for.”

Makeup artist Tony Tulve recommends choosing liquid foundations, as they “act more like a second skin” and leaning into the “less is more” philosophy when it comes to application. (You’ll see what we mean when you read through this list.)

Once you’ve landed on your dream formula, the key is to only dot foundation in the areas you need coverage the most, instead of slathering it on all over, which makeup artist Nick Barose says can read as “severe.” Tulve suggests tapping the product in with your fingers, blending outwards as needed, and using minimal powder — as it can emphasize lines and texture, the very things you’re probably trying to downplay.

Now that you’ve gotten the low-down, we present to you 21 of the best foundations for mature skin, hand-picked from experienced makeup artists. Most of these options are spiked with moisture-boosting ingredients that never result in cakey finishes and are ideal for enhancing the innate beauty of older skin.

15 Best Foundations for Dry Skin 2021

When your skin is so dry that it snows more than, well, nature, applying makeup to mask it can actually draw more attention to the flakes and scaly patches. Before you know it, that radiant glow you were striving for ends up resembling fine grit sandpaper.

Bottom line: “It’s difficult to create the appearance of a smooth surface on a textured surface—whether it be painting a wall, your nails, icing a cake, or putting foundation on your skin,” says Dana Rae Ashburn, New York-based makeup artist and founder of ABLE Cosmetics.

The cause of your dry skin could be as obvious as the winter weather—when the humidity level drops, the loss of moisture in the air (combined with the frigid temps) can rob the skin of moisture, says Debra Jaliman, M.D., NYC-based board-certified dermatologist and author of Skin Rules. Or, the cause could be subtler, such as your penchant for taking super-hot showers (the hot water and steam can strip the skin of its natural oils), getting a little too happy at happy hour (alcohol dehydrates the skin and dilates blood vessels, causing redness), or eating too many salty foods on the regular (which steals water from your body, including your skin).

Ideally, you could go makeup-free and let your moisturizer do its thing—but not everyone is blessed with a perfectly even complexion. That’s where a full-coverage, moisturizing foundation comes in.

How to choose the best full-coverage foundation for dry skin

Avoid matte products: “These foundations typically contain oil-absorbing ingredients like silicone and talc, which can make dry skin look even drier, worsen dry patches, and feel tight and uncomfortable on your skin,” says celebrity makeup artist Michanna Murphy. (That goes double for powder foundations.) You’ll stand a better chance of your foundation not caking and settling into dry patches by choosing one with a creamier finish.

Steer clear of salicylic acid: This ingredient does acne-prone skin a solid by sopping up excess oil. For those with a case of the flakes, however, it will dry out your skin even more, says Dr. Jaliman. Instead, look for hydrating ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, dimethicone, and vitamin E.

Look for hydration-centric lingo: Foundations that have serum, oil, or hydrating in the name are indicate that they’ll offer up some added moisture to your skin, says Ashburn. Other keywords to look for include radiant, dewy, illuminating, glow, and water. Because dry, dehydrated skin has a tendency to absorb newly applied foundation and leave your face a patchy mess, says Murphy, an extra dose of hydration from your makeup can help keep flakes at bay for that much longer.

Skip the scents: It can be difficult to find a foundation without fragrance in it, but stick to unscented varieties if you can. Fragrance in your foundation means that it also contains alcohol, which can lead to more dryness, says MŌDA Brush executive makeup artist Dominique Lerma.

Now that you’re armed with the necessary intel to find the perfect full-coverage foundation for dry skin, check out the super-hydrating options below to get started.

SEA Water Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15

This vegan, cruelty-free foundation is super liquidy—meaning it feels weightless on the skin for a radiant, buildable coverage. The formula includes a special algae and marine flower combo that helps to smooth and soften skin, while nourishing vitamin E gives the formula more of a slip.

Tinted Face Oil

The formula behind this face oil-foundation fusion combines several all-natural ingredients (avocado, jojoba, and rosehip, to name a few) into a deeply hydrating elixir, says Murphy. Because it’s highly pigmented, you won’t have to use a lot of product to get the coverage you need—and best of all, it will last all day.

Future Skin Foundation

Chantecaille
nordstrom.com

$58.50

Chantecaille’s Future Skin is an oil-free, lightweight gel foundation that’s composed of 60% charged water, which transfers moisture into the skin. The formula contains natural botanicals, such as aloe, chamomile, and arnica, making it a perfect choice to calm and soothe irritated or sensitive skin.

The best way to apply foundation if you have dry skin

Proper prep before applying foundation is paramount if you’re dealing with dry, flaky skin, says Ashburn.

Smooth things out: Use a gentle face exfoliator to buff away dead skin, leaving a smoother surface to work with. Then, opt for an oil cleanser so that your scrubbing doesn’t strip your skin further, and follow up with a super-hydrating moisturizer. (Check out these amazing moisturizers for dry skin for an ideal base.)

Mist away: Ashburn recommends using a hydrating mist before, during, and after each layer of makeup to amp up glow.

Prime the skin: “Using a hydrating primer will help to moisturize skin, as well as act as a barrier, prohibiting your skin from absorbing the newly applied foundation,” says Murphy. The result? Longer wear and a smoother finish. (We love this hydrating primer from First Aid Beauty because it’s noncomedogenic and fragrance-free.)

Choose the right tools: Finally, when you apply your foundation, use a damp sponge, says Ashburn, like this one from Beauty Blender. The water will help to evenly distribute the product, pressing it into your skin rather than it laying on top, which can make your skin look dry.

If using a makeup brush is more your style, avoid using circular motions, says Murphy. Use downward or stippling motions to build coverage instead, especially on dry areas.

Liquid vs. Compact Foundation

Liquid vs. Compact Foundation

For someone who has been using liquid foundation their entire life, I’m a little bias when it comes to this topic. As I look through some of my old pictures on social media, one thing comes to mind, “I wish I had set this with some powder”. I look so shiny in all my pics, mostly because I love natural dewy make up. At first this was the trend, glowing dewy skin achieved easily with a tinted moisturizer like the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. I still love using this for every day, but thanks to the popularity of selfies and social media, women everywhere are changing their make up to what will photograph well as opposed to what looks better in person.

Consider your skin tone of course. Sometimes it’s just something you are used to. For dry skin, powder foundation just looks heavy and shows lines. If you really want a powdery look, make sure you are exfoliating and hydrating your skin with a moisturizer and by drinking plenty of water. Speaking of selfies, take one. Wait about an hour after you have worn your make up, since make up usually adjusts slowly according to your skin. Then check to see if your face is shiny or looks too matte. I have noticed that sometimes when I wear a liquid foundation my skin almost “eats” my makeup. It looks flawless at home and then I look in the mirror a few hours later and I look shiny again. If I was asked years ago to choose, I would have said liquid foundation all the way, but now I like them to wear them together. A foundation as a base and then a powder over it. As far as a compact foundation, it’s almost like a blend of both. I do love those for touch ups, but overall I feel like it’s too thick for me. The perfect foundation is like a pair of jeans, you really have to try samples of a few to see what works best for you and your skin.

Liquid foundations are available for oily skin too. Along with an oil-free primer this can look just as great as a powder but as a general rule, people with oily skin tones should go for the powder foundations. There are different types of powders depending on coverage. A very popular one is the MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation; this is a favorite among women of all ages and comes in numerous shades.

If you have sensitive skin like me, mineral powder is a better option. I easily turn red or start breaking out from many products, When I tried mineral powders, I felt like it was gentler and didn’t feel as heavy as a regular powder foundation. However, I have to admit that the coverage is not as heavy. Last night I was testing out some face oils and had to rush out for dinner. I usually put on liquid foundation but my face was so oily from all the hydrating products I used, so I decided to give this powder foundation look a shot. To my surprise it really soaked up all the oil and just made my skin look flawless. It also was so much easier to take off. Usually, I feel like foundation seeps into my pores and as much as I wash my face, there is always some make up lingering on my skin. Chantecaille Protection Naturelle Powder SPF 46 is a super light mineral powder and comes with a brush that makes it so easy for touch ups. I also love the Cle de Peau Translucent Loose Powder because it comes with this puff that I use to press in the product. This is great if you have large pores around the nose area and it’s sheer, so it works with any skin tone.

Don’t be overwhelmed with the options. Explain your skin concerns to your beauty consultant because most brands break down their clients into different groups. Go to the counter knowing your skin tone, Oily, Dry or Combination.  A good way to figure this out is when you come out of the shower. Does your skin feel tight? Then most likely you are on the drier side. Most of the time if you have oily skin, you’ll know it just by looking in the mirror when you wake up. Make sure your products aren’t making your skin super dry, or oily either.

As far as coverage, you also need to know if you want a Light, Medium or Full coverage. Medium is usually the safest way to go. What type of finish do you want? Dewy, Satin, Matte? If you don’t know the answers it’s ok to experiment. Once you have found what you love, finding the right shade is the next challenge. Ask questions. Find out if it lasts all day, especially if you have an event. Overall, try to find something that is almost custom made for all your needs. Good Luck!

Should You Use Powder or Liquid Foundation?

Foundation is a foolproof way to mask imperfections and get flawless coverage, so it’s no surprise that this beauty staple is a hot commodity in the makeup world. But with so many different formats of foundation battling it out for space on your vanity, particularly liquid vs. powder, it can be hard to settle on the right formula for you. Dry skin types might want to opt for a more hydrating, liquid formula while oily skin types might prefer powder formulas. Keep reading as we give you the lowdown on foundation powder vs. liquid foundation so you can decide which formula to stock your beauty arsenal with.

What Is a Powder Foundation?

For those who prefer lightweight makeup, powder foundation is just the ticket. This type of formula is all about giving your skin a natural look with a soft touch. Thanks to the weightless feel of today’s powders, you’ll be able to provide your skin with breathable and buildable coverage that will go the distance. We also recommend powder foundation for those who have oily skin. It will help your skin look fresh, matte and shine-free throughout the day. We love the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Up to 24H Fresh Wear in a Powder for buildable, full coverage or the  L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Compact Makeup and Age Perfect Makeup Creamy Powder Foundation with Minerals for more sheer coverage.

What Is Liquid Foundation?

Known as a tried-and-true makeup essential, liquid foundation is an excellent option for those who love a seamless blend that disguises imperfections. You can also choose liquid formulas that have anywhere from light to full coverage, depending on your desired look. The finish is also up to you—whether you want a glowy visage or a matte beauty look. We also recommend a hydrating liquid foundation formula for dry skin types. opt for a water-based formula like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible 24HR Fresh Wear Foundation which will give you a radiant finish. If you want a little more coverage to conceal acne or uneven texture, try the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation.

Powder vs. Liquid Foundation — Which Should I Use?

Believe it or not, when it comes to the foundation powder vs. liquid foundation debate, there isn’t one real winner. It’s all about your personal preference and skin type. Powder foundations feel more lightweight on the skin, will keep you matte and have buildable to full coverage. It’s also incredibly user-friendly to apply with a makeup brush or makeup sponge (the L’Oréal Paris Up to 24HR Fresh Wear in a Powder comes with its own compact sponge and mirror!), and can be touched up throughout the day with no fuss. Powder foundation also doesn’t need too much blending, which is a plus for makeup rookies!

On the other hand, liquid foundation has its own share of benefits. While powder foundations can be full-coverage, it takes a few layers to get there, while liquid pretty much conceals blemishes or uneven texture with one swipe of the product. It’s also very hydrating which can keep cracks or flakiness at bay and you can use any tool to apply it — makeup brushes, fingers or a blender.

How to choose foundation and powder

Only a few have perfect skin, so foundation and powder should be in any woman’s cosmetic bag. It is the basis for a flawless and natural make-up. But how to choose them correctly so that they not only give the skin a radiant look, but also rejuvenate it? WANT reveals the secrets of an impeccable tone.

Modern foundations usually contain a complex of moisturizers that trap moisture on the skin’s surface. For this purpose, aloe vera gel, hyaluronic acid, chamomile and calendula extract are most often used. By the way, the extracts of the listed plants contribute to the rapid healing of microcracks, since the regenerative function of the skin works more actively with sufficient moisture.

The foundation gives the skin a velvety, even color and performs many more useful functions. But in order for the foundation to serve as the main assistant, you first need to choose it correctly, and then apply it to the skin.It is worth noting that with normal skin and the absence of significant defects on it, you can use moisturizing and toning fluid creams that barely stain the skin.

HOW TO APPLY FOUNDATION CREAM

When the cream is very liquid, it is “hammered” into the skin by lightly tapping the pads of the fingers and then, moving horizontally, the texture is “shifted” to the edges of the face. As a result, skin imperfections are perfectly masked, and the foundation is not visible at all. A light layer of transparent powder or a few touches of the brush with a minimum of its compact variety is enough to set the tone on the skin.

If you want to make the layer denser, for example, for evening make-up, then the sponge for applying the tone must be dry. A dense masking effect is provided by a foundation in the form of a pencil, for example, Sophistick from Guerlain, under which it is good to hide dilated capillaries on the face. At the same time, the cream must be applied to the entire face with a brush or sponge, and only touch up the makeup with the pencil itself.

A very interesting effect is obtained by mixing two shades of foundation. To do this, get the tones of one cosmetic company. It should be applied as follows: temples, cheekbones, chin, wings of the nose are darker tone, the rest is lighter in tone. Draw a thin vertical strip in a light tone in the middle of the nose, this will make it narrower and more aristocratic.

HOW TO CHOOSE FOUNDATION CREAM

For oily skin, a non-greasy liquid or long-lasting foundation is preferred. On top of it “for fidelity” you can apply a thin layer of loose powder.

For combination skin, a liquid foundation, such as Le nu vous va si bien “smart” cream from Bourjois or Gabriella Salvete, is a tinted cream with a tanning effect.

A gentle moisturizing day cream with olive oil – for all skin types. “Problematic” skin feels even better under it. Dust areas with increased fat release with loose powder – in a brush, like in Libre comme L’air from Bourjois.

Tinted creams with a moisturizing effect are suitable for dry skin, they look more natural on the face. If the skin is dry, it is better to use a creamy foundation that also contains emollient oils, such as the Shiseido Fluid Foundation. It should be applied with a damp sponge so as not to accentuate wrinkles. For dry skin, you should use not loose, but compact powder with a silky texture, such as Pastel Teint, Bourjois.

In order for the foundation not to look like a mask on the face, you need to precisely match its color. Before buying, apply a stroke to your cheek – its color should match the color of your skin, while slightly yellowish tones are suitable for skin of any shade (as a rule, these are odd numbers). When choosing creams and powders, keep in mind that their shade should be lighter than your skin tone, and do not use foundation, the shade of which is very different from your complexion.

The main principle of choosing tonal means is as follows: the better the skin, the more even its color by nature, the lighter, transparent and liquid the foundation should be.If the skin is acne prone, with obvious defects, you should give preference to a dense texture and apply such a product with hammering movements

HOW TO APPLY EYE CREAM

Rules for applying foundation on the eyelids

First, the skin must be moisturized with a cream; if it is very oily, then wait until it is absorbed, or blot it with a napkin. It is easier to apply foundation on a moisturizer – it fits better.

Motions on the cheek should always be from top to bottom, as if smoothing, thereby you will not let the gun on your face stand on end (this is called the peach effect).

Make sure to rinse off the foundation at night, and after cleansing your face, apply a nourishing cream.

If the foundation is correctly selected, then it makes no sense to apply it on the neck; the main thing is that the border is well shaded.

Applying tonal means only 10-15 minutes after applying the day moisturizer, otherwise the makeup will “float”.

If you apply makeup under artificial lighting, keep in mind that the overhead light source casts harsh shadows and the color of the walls can alter the shades of the makeup.Evenly lit white walls and light fixtures (better than daylight) on both sides of the mirror are ideal.

When applying makeup, take into account the nature of the lighting in the place where you are going. In the warm, yellow light of lamps or candles, the base color can be cooler, more pinkish, and even greyish. Cold fluorescent lighting suggests a warm golden tint.

HOW TO APPLY MAKEUP BASE

“Bases” for makeup (they are also foundations, tone correctors) appeared only ten years ago.Makeup artists advise using them in cases where you need a more effective masking of any skin imperfections that conventional tonal means cannot provide. After cleansing your face, apply a suitable cream (preferably moisturizing, but if the skin is very dry, then bold). Blot the cream off with a paper towel. The concealer spreads evenly over a thin layer of cream and lasts longer.

The base can now be applied. This should be done in very small portions. It is best to put some of the product on the back of the hand and take it from there with your fingertips, spreading it over the face (except for compact products that are applied not with your fingers, but with a sponge).

For a high-quality result, it is much more effective to apply several thin layers than one thick one. After applying the base, use the fingertips to spread it more thoroughly over the face with a sponge. The sponge is gently pressed against the skin, making light rotational movements. Particularly carefully rub the transitions to the neck and base of the hair.

HOW TO MAINTAIN THE QUALITY OF FOUNDATION CREAM

To maintain the quality of your foundation, follow these simple tips:

• Store in a cool, dark place.

• Do not expose to sudden changes in temperature.

• From the glass form, the cream should be taken with a stick or a special spoon, without touching it with your fingers to avoid oxidative reaction.

• Wash the compact foundation “sponge” once a week and leave to dry to prevent the growth of fungus or bacteria.

• If the foundation has changed its original tone – an unpleasant odor has appeared or the fats contained in the cream have been released, it’s time to throw it away.

• Never mix foundation from different brands, it can be simply dangerous for the skin.

HOW TO USE POWDER CORRECTLY

Powder is used by almost all women, with its help you can mask minor defects, areas of discoloration, remove excessive shine. The powder consists of natural kaolin, calcium carbonate, talc and ground silk, as well as nourishing collagens and light oils. Powdered skin becomes matte and velvety.

The compact powder sets the base layer under the make-up, removes the oily sheen from the skin surface, giving the face an even matte complexion. Powder comes in two flavors: compact double action and loose powder, loose powder is easier to use in the makeup process, and compact powder is very convenient for correcting makeup.

When choosing a powder, consider the natural skin tone and the color of the foundation you are using. The tone of the powder can match the tone of the skin and the base, or it can be slightly darker or lighter. The unmistakable color option is transparent (colorless) powder, it can be used in any case. If you use tinted powder, then its color should be as close as possible to the color of the base.

Before you powder your face with fully completed makeup or just covered with cream, be sure to remove the oily shine by blotting your face with a paper towel. To make the powder lay down evenly, take it in small portions, slightly shaking the puff or blowing on the brush. Especially carefully powder the T-shaped area: forehead, nose and chin.

For sensitive, easily inflamed, rash-prone skin, there are special powders with anti-inflammatory additives. It is better in such cases to use disposable cotton swabs rather than a puff or a brush.

WHAT TREATS OF POWDER TO BE SAFE

It is better not to experiment with colored powders (unless, of course, you are going to the carnival).Lilac, green, hot pink and yellow-orange shades are used by professional makeup artists to create a special effect and require special skill to handle. Care should be taken and powder containing gold and silver glitter should not be applied to the middle of the face. Gloss can be appropriate on the temples, cheekbones, neckline and arms, and only in evening lighting. Special care must be taken when using dark powder. It is not recommended to powder the area around the eyes with it, where there may be crow’s feet.

FASHION TRENDS

Today, in order to create makeup that matches fashion trends, it is impossible to do without a good foundation. But it’s not enough just to find the right product, you still need to learn how to apply it. Make-up artists insist: in cosmetic “camouflage” the skin should appear perfectly even and absolutely clean – the way even the most flawless young skin does not look.

However, if your face does not suffer from such “troubles” as dull color, peeling or redness, you should still please yourself with some of the tonal novelties.”Unreal smoothness” and “unearthly radiance” of the skin – this is what cosmetics manufacturers are striving for today.

Sun Glare

A few years ago, experts strongly advised: in order to avoid the occurrence of abrupt transitions, do not use base creams whose shades are darker than the natural skin color. Today it has ceased to be relevant due to the light, non-greasy textures of tinting cosmetics. But if you are still afraid to apply a dark tone all over your face, then you can just do a few strokes: on the cheekbones, in the middle of the forehead, on the tip of the nose and on the chin – where the sun “colors” the skin in the first place.

Reflected light

Having bought a foundation, presented to you by the seller as an excellent concealer, do not be surprised if you find in a jar an almost transparent emulsion with a light coral or beige tint. By introducing reflective particles (microscopic “lenses”) into the cream, which scatter light rays, manufacturers manage to solve several problems at once.

They remove dark circles around the eyes and give the skin a soft glow, which makes it appear healthier and younger; create an optical illusion – unevenness of the skin relief, fine wrinkles and enlarged pores become less noticeable. And because of the tiny beams of light scattered over the surface of the face, the difference between the natural skin tone and the shade of the foundation is smoothed out.

And one more important nuance: these creams allow you to spend less time on shading the tone, but at the same time you can be sure that no one will guess about its presence on your face. Cosmetics creators are happy to experiment with various additives that diffuse light.Photochromic pigments, silk proteins, nylon “pearls” or microprisms – the presence of such ingredients in the formulation of the cream testifies in its favor.
