Unsurprisingly, Christmas is the busiest time of year at Royal Mail. And with so many parcels and letters flowing through our warehouse, we always need a few thousand extra hands! Every year over the holiday season, temporary flexible workers from all walks of life help us to get everything where it needs to go.

£11.40 p/h (days) to £13.70 p/h (nights).


 


Most sites offer a range of shifts, so finding one that suits you should be simple. Typical shift patterns include:


 


  • Lates: Monday to Friday, hours between 14:00 and 22:00
  • Nights: Monday to Friday, 22:30 – 06:00
  • Weekends: Saturday & Sunday, day shifts between 08:00 and 20:00; Saturday only, 16:00 – 22:00 or 06:00 – 20:00

As a Mail Sorter, you’ll be unloading mail and parcels from our vans, moving them through our warehouses and ensuring that they arrive at their destination safely. During a single shift, you could sort over a million items with your team! It’s a very important role so flexibility, commitment and enthusiasm are key.

  • You will have a list of product groups and or suppliers that you will be responsible for

  • Merchandising and stock exit plans

General duties

  • Creating visual and inspirational displays to help sell products
  • General shop floor maintenance and housekeeping
  • Assisting customers with advice and carry to car
  • Merchandising stock and any other duties required by the Department Manager
  • Follow guidelines on action points following reports and floor-walks
  • Print and put out POS material in the relevant areas
  • Be able to identify slow moving stock and action

Deputy Duties

  • Deputise for the Department Manager during holidays and days off.
  • Communicate any issues or concerns to the CREM or CAT Manager
  • Organise the plant team with weekly and daily tasks
  • Update the team on instructions and guidelines from the BD Head Office.
