Cheon song yi style: 5 Things You Need to Copy Cheon Song Yi’s Fashion – fashion & social media

5 Things You Need to Copy Cheon Song Yi’s Fashion – fashion & social media

I just re-watched Korean TV series <<You Who Came From The Star>> and fall in love with Cheon Song Yi again. I love her style as well as personality. If you haven’t watched the movie and don’t know who she is, here’s the clue for you

Video by yuldoriFMVs

Song Yi is known for her blunt character. Also, she believes that she is every man’s type. Everything changes when she meets her stoic neighbor, Do Min Joon. She soon develops feelings for him and tries to make him fall for her.

When acting Song Yi’s role, Jun Ji Hyun has donned in a lot of pretty clothes. Here’s the transformation you need to be like Cheon Song Yi.

1. A nice overcoat or cape

She loves coats. Well, yeah, it’s winter so it’s understandable that she has a bevy of outerwear at her disposal. While she occasionally forays into wearing capes with geometric prints, she is more often seen in more sensible solid-colored double-breasted and trench coats.

Coat suggestion:

For the office a chic black cropped version will add instant cool points to your classic white shirt and navy cropped trouser combo. And for the slightly warmer months, a cape worn over a basic tee or breton with jeans and trainers can look effortlessly cool.

2. A cute mini flare or pleated skirt:

Despite her occasionally knee-high boots over skinny jeans and leather jacket ensembles, Cheon Song Yi is a girly girl on most days. She wears skirts a LOT – pleated and flared, particularly. She often wears them with a chic blazer but you can also see her wearing it with bomber jackets.

I keep laughing when looking at this picture, seeing her duck face. She’s overly competitive.

3. A pair of black skinny jean

4. A boxy top or sweater:

Cheon Song Yi knows how to be comfortable. But she certainly doesn’t abandon all semblance of style because, well, she’s Cheon Song Yi and she wouldn’t be caught dead looking like crap! So her solution? A boxy top that looks as rad as it looks comfortable.

5. A cute headband or head wrap

If you haven’t noticed Cheon Song Yi’s penchant for this accessory, you should go re-watch the whole drama. She’s crazy for these accessories and she would often ante up her home outfits with a nifty head wrap or a cute pearly headband.

Suggested Headband:

|Fashion to Any Leaves & Chains Headband, $16.00

If you have these items in your closet, you are ready to create a Cheon Song Yi-inspired ensemble!

Watch Korean Dramas, Become Instantly Chic

My introduction to K-dramas was My Love From Another Star, the epic and insanely popular saga that details what happens when a 400-year-old alien and a 28-year-old actress fall in love (it’s complicated). The show sucked me in. The plot was just fantastical enough to make it a proper soap opera, but never veered into outright silly territory. The heroine had that same kind of nuance too—Cheong Song Yi (played by the very dewy Jeon Ji Hyun) managed to be a literal drama queen who was also somehow so relatable. But what truly hooked me was the fashion. Song Yi’s character never failed to wear a capital-O Outfit. Her wardrobe was packed with Sandro, Gucci, Celiné, Chanel, Prada—name a covetable designer, and she had all the best pieces. Each ensemble was perfect, down to the tiniest detail, like an oversized-pearl ring or tiny Swarvoski-studded clutch. These were the kind of trendsetting TV-character style signatures the likes of which I hadn’t seen since Carrie Bradshaw’s nameplate necklace or Blair Waldorf’s headbands. This really went to for the whole cast, too. I couldn’t get over how everyone on My Love From Another Star just looked, well, just looked so freakin’ nice all the time.

This stood out to me when I visited Korea too. Even weekend outfits of leggings and sneakers were still topped with a nice coat—people looked casual, but there was no way they were on their way to the gym. This was such a stark contrast to my life in America, where dressing shitty was almost a point of pride. Most of my countrymen dress as if we’re in the midst of the Great Slob Rebellion. We’ve taken casualness to extremes—I’ll never forget seeing my aunt wear yoga pants and flip-flops to her own nephew’s wedding.

My own style transgressions were never this bad, but I did spend a lot of my life thinking my disheveled appearance meant I was laid back and low maintenance, even progressive. I thought my unbrushed hair said “I reject mainstream female beauty standards” rather than “I overslept.” I hoped the scuffed motorcycle boots I paired with a party dress read as “style rebel” instead of “does not own nice shoes.” Minding the details, spending time studying one’s own appearance—these were the time-wasters of the pretentious and superficial, and I had better things to do (or so I thought). Had I taken a more honest look at my reasoning, I would have seen that it all came down to effort. Effort that I was just too lazy to put in. Contrast this with Cheong Song Yi who even with a burst appendix managed to throw on Givenchy and lipstick before heading to the hospital. Extreme? Yes, but you’ve got to admire her dedication.

Some of my favorite of Song Yi’s outfits were what she wore when she was just home alone in slippers. After a few episodes, I started to realize these were her “house clothes.” Sure, they were Gucci and DKNY, and her sleepwear was Paul & Joe, but the lesson I learned stood regardless: Different spaces require different clothes. This was a total 180 from my usual approach, which tended to involve cooking and napping in whatever I’d worn to work, stomping around the house in street shoes, and sleeping in old T-shirts and leggings (the same stuff I wore to the gym). This left me always wondering why my nice dresses had stains and snags, why I couldn’t ever find anything when it was time to work out (or go to bed), and why my floors were always so dirty.

So, when I hit the last episode of the saga, and knew I would miss Song Yi’s wardrobe, I decided it was time to get some house clothes of my own. I bought a pair of fuzzy slippers and some pajamas that would look incredibly silly if I ever tried to wear them to Pilates. And while I’m still sure I won’t bother with the Givenchy (er…Gap?) if I’m ever hit with appendicitis, I’m proud to say that I do now give my appearance a little more thought, and effort, when leaving the house for non-emergency occasions.

10 K-Dramas To Watch For The Fashion

K-dramas (South Korean TV dramas) have really taken over online platform services. They enthrall audiences with their riveting storylines of drama and romance. One may not notice that they’ve stayed up until the early hours binge-watching a series. Korean dramas create a unique combination of themes and stories that work beyond what anyone imagined in a show.

Besides the incredible storylines and actors, K-dramas also have another aspect that fans love. The fashion! Some of the shows main or supporting characters dazzle on-screen with out of this world outfits that make anyone envious. It’s a fun part of K-dramas that also sticks with the audience.

10 Tomorrow With You (2017)

Tomorrow With You debuted in 2017. It revolves around the CEO of a real estate company who is able to travel through time using a subway. He marries his wife, Song Ma-rin (Shin Min-a) to avoid a future fate.

The real winner here is the fashion in the K-drama. Specifically with Ma-rin. Her style is a variation of looks ranging from bright office wear to more laid back graphic prints. Fans can remember here long jean skirt overalls paired with a maroon polka dot shirt.

9 Search: WWW (2019)

This K-drama is about three fierce and professional women in a competitive webtoons industry. Besides the business competition, Bae Ta-mi (Im Soo-jung), Cha Hyeon (Lee Da-hee) and Song Ga-kyeong (Jeon Hye-jin) often out win in each other in fashion.

A lot of the looks in the show are extreme, bold and eye-catching. Mixed with workplace fashion, these women add some fun bright colors to the mix. The show’s fashion is so inspirational that there are web pages dedicated to finding the exact clothing items. A lot of them come straight from the runway.

8 Her Private Life (2019)

Her Private Life is a fun show for dedicated K-Pop fans. Sung Deok-mi (Park Min-young) is a talented art curator who harbors an embarrassing secret. She a fanatic fan of a K-Pop group but must keep it hidden to keep her job. Also from her new boss and possibly a new love.

The show makes work attire look more fun. Doek-mi has a powerful yet sweet aura in her pristine business suits which she switches up with some bright colors. On days off, she opts for more feminine and soft pieces in neutral colors. Her new boss, Ryan Gold (Kim Jae-wook) also has some tricks up his sleeve in simple outfits with clean cuts and statement pieces.

7 My Love From The Star (2013)

My Love from The Star is another slightly older K-drama, but it dazzled fans not only for the story but for the leading character’s insane fashion sense. The show has an interesting twist on love. An alien lands on Earth, and 400 years later, falls in love in the modern era with an actress.

Cheon Song-yi (Jun Ji-hyun) had fans clamoring to see what outfit she would wear next. They often included designer pieces. Song-yo wasn’t afraid to mix and match different patterns and textures. Fans loved her bold look in a scene wearing a brown leather skirt and a detailed leather jacket.

6 The King: Eternal Monarch (2020)

Netflix released The King: Eternal Monarch earlier on in 2020 and fans are raving about it. It’s hard to pick one specific character with the best fashion sense. Also, seeing as the show takes place in two parallel worlds. Lee Gon (Lee Min-ho) really showed his royal status as king in ornate and embroidered jackets. He then switched into overcoats and a fashionable sweater. Clothing that involved a lot of Valentino.

Jung Tae-eul (Kim Go-eun) kept her fashion more practical and warm in oversized coats and neutral colors. Jo Eun-seob/Jo Yeong (Woo Do-hwan) switched from colorful sweaters and hoodies, to clean-lined suits and ornate jackets. The prime minister dressed professionally yet also excessively in reds, ornate accessories, and dresses.

5 Itaewon Class (2020)

When it comes to fashion, Itaewon Class‘ breakout star can be found in the female lead role.  Jo Yi-seo (Kim Da-mi) is the manger of a restaurant owned by an ex-convict hoping to change his life around. Don’t expect Yi-seo’s style to be highly feminine or colorful.

She’s on the other end of the scope and has a more tough look. Fans often see her in black mixed with some lighter neutrals. Her favorite? Using statement leather pieces. She mixes leather coats with a simple one-colored shirt and silver accessories. On some occasions, she offsets the black with a bright green, red or brown.

4 Tempted (2018)

Tempted is chock-full of incredible fashion by the main cast. The drama of a love built on lies only adds more to the fashion. Three best friends are so caught up int heir glamorous lifestyles that they make a bet with someone’s heart. The luxury life they live surely shines through in expensive fashion pieces.

The one character who falls victim to their bet has a style of her own. Deposit the difference in social classes, her style is up to par with the rich. It involves layering pieces, patterned jackets or cute accessories. For example, her yellow crop jacket, skirt paired with a french beret.

3 Crash Landing On You (2019)

It’s hard not to talk about Crash Landing on You, especially when talking about fashion. The series gained immense recognition but fans also fell in love with the outfits worn. There are so many incredible outfits worn by the main character Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin) that are striking, bold and chic.

RELATED: 15 K-Dramas To Watch If You Loved Crash Landing On You

She’s not the only one, her love interest Jeong-hyeok Ri (Hyun Bin) also dazzles in his uniform and in civilian clothes. The supporting characters are also high up on the fashionable scale.

2 Hotel Del Luna (2019)

Hotel Del Luna borders between love, the supernatural and drama. Above all, it enthralled audiences with the main star’s fashion sense. Jang Man-wol (Lee Ji-eun) is the owner of Hotel del Luna and can be a bit over the top with her outfits.

Then again, she is a bit moody from being the owner of the hotel for 1300 years. What better way to add some fun with unique wardrobe choices that stand out. Her outfits are a detail of the show that really made it fun to watch as it matches her personality.

1 It’s Okay To Not Be Okay (2020)

Ko Moon-young (Seo Ye-ji) gives some serious wardrobe envy in It’s Okay To Not Be Okay. Moon-young is a children’s book writer with a lack of empathy due to her traumatic childhood. Its explained that her vibrant and outlandish clothing is her form of protection.

Her outfits also made jaws drop with how amazing they looked. Her ruffled layered shirt dress combined with a leather corset is runway-worthy. Not to mention her all-black suit jacket dress with thigh-high stocking and heels. Not only is the storyline thrilling, a bit psychological and a fun watch, but Moon-young’s ensembles scream high-end fashion.

Realistic version of Cheon Song Yi! Han Yese debuted with a new hairstyle, black hair and red lips look like a beautiful girl in a comic

Korean female artists are very concerned about the maintenance of their appearance. They are clearly past the age of girls but still look like little girls. Many female artists are like this. Among them, Han Yese, who is now 40 years old, is a very representative one.

Take a photo with Sunmi, who is a teenager younger than me. There is no age difference at all. It looks like a girl of the same age. I have to sigh, O’Neill maintenance is simply too good. Now Han Yese has also opened a YouTube channel, where he can share his daily life, including beauty makeup, outfits, food, etc. You can watch it if you don’t follow it, hurry up and pay attention to it.

After reading her sharing, you will think that someone can be so good-looking, which is inseparable from her usual maintenance and exercise and attitude towards life. Every appearance of Han Yese is very amazing, with a variety of styles, and any style can be controlled very well. He is simply a fashion all-rounder.

Recently, comic bangs are very popular, and Han Yise has not missed this fashion trend. He also cut the same comic bangs. Han Yeseul, who has changed her haircut, looks like a beautiful girl from the comics. This hairstyle is also very picky. Han Yese has a very small face, so it will not look very rustic if you match this hairstyle with thick bangs and black long straight hair. If you don’t have a small face like her, then don’t try this easily. If you don’t get the haircut, you will become Sadako.

In order to match this hairstyle, Han Yese’s makeup is also very carefully matched. The first is the base makeup. The matte matte finish matches the whole look, which is more advanced. In the eye makeup part, eyeliner is still the focus. You must know that Han Yese’s eyeliner is the life of her makeup, and the cat eye liner shows her charm very well. A touch of red lips injects soul into the whole makeup, which looks more elegant and noble. The clothes of

are also very characteristic. Han Yiseul likes all kinds of floral skirts very much. Of course, she is also very suitable for this kind of skirts, which can well highlight her body proportions, and more importantly, it can reduce the age and increase the girlishness. For the purpose, the yellow skirt is very springy, the palace-style puff sleeves and the black embroidered neckline design all show the charm of the skirt very well. Netizens have expressed their desire to Get the same beautiful skirt. The look of this dress

is also very good-looking. First of all, the color matching is very bright and colorful printing, which really puts spring on the body. The skirt is a style design that modifies the figure. The top is a classic palace style half sleeve. The square neckline well highlights Han Yese’s neckline. The hem is a fluffy version, which looks more cute and playful. The lower part of the

skirt is a one-step skirt style, and the slim-fit design shows Han Yiseul’s beautiful legs. The whole suit skirt is a very test of body proportions, and Han Yese digests them very well. This comic bangs hairstyle and sexy and feminine makeup are also very extra points.

This look is full of sexy femininity. First of all, the skirt is matched with a polka dot skirt, and the half-high neckline design has a sense of abstinence. The waist waist design is used to highlight the waist-to-body ratio. With flying eyeliner and red lips and black hair, Han Ye Seul who is carrying the cake looks feminine.

Before changing his hair style, Han Yese had a romantic mid-point curly hair style, which is also a very fashionable and elegant hairstyle. Romantic curly hair with a floral skirt is also quite beautiful. This skirt is a relatively simple and elegant print, and the large-area print design highlights the girlishness, and the long skirt can modify the body proportions. Han Yese who looked back and smiled was too attractive.

Han Yiseul, who stood by the bridge, showed a signature smile to the camera, as if the surrounding scenery was eclipsed, her eyes were attracted by her, O’Neill is really a national treasure-level beauty.

90,000 Eternal Executioner The President of South Korea turned it into a first world country. But he went down in history as a tyrant and dictator: Politics: World:

North Korea is devastation, hunger and dictatorship, and South Korea is a paradise with Samsung, K-pop and democracy. This is approximately how people brought up on anti-Kimov propaganda reason. Meanwhile, the reality is much more complicated and interesting. Especially for, the famous Russian Koreanist Konstantin Asmolov wrote a series of articles about the history of the Korean Peninsula and two states that were once one whole. Last time we talked about how in 1980s South Korea, one dictatorship was replaced by another, and the protesters were crushed with tanks. This time, we will talk about how President Jong Doo Hwan created his own cult and dealt with dissent, while at the same time befriending the United States and improving the country’s image.

So, the Fifth Republic of South Korea was created on the blood of the participants in the uprising in Gwangju, and from the point of view of the movement for democratization it became even worse than the Fourth. The level of repression in her was almost the same, and in terms of personal qualities, its president, Jung Doo Hwan, significantly fell short of his predecessor Park Chung Hee.

Historian Bruce Cumings considers Jung Doo Hwan to be the most unpopular Korean ruler. If Park Chung Hee’s simplicity and modesty were not feigned, then Jeong was known as a stubborn and arrogant person, and his family became involved in a whole series of scandals. In addition, Pak’s coup was bloodless, and Chon was responsible for the Gwangju massacre. And even when the first Yusin in the last years of the existence of the system began to change noticeably for the worse, he was still perceived ambiguously, then the second at the end of the reign had practically no well-wishers.As, however, in the beginning: the historian Michael Brin cites as an example a frequent situation when at ceremonial receptions during the president’s speeches, the majority of those present went about their business and actually ignored the speaker.

How North Korea tried to build paradise and condemned its people to poverty

Lieutenant Principle

Like South Korea replaced one dictator with another: he crushed people with tanks, but was pardoned

A way out to improve the image of Chon Doo Hwan was found in copying his predecessor. Like Pak, Chon strove to present himself as the “father of the nation,” a strict but just ruler, and a role model. At the same time, he took into account the mistakes of the murdered dictator and feared the growth of anti-government sentiments, and therefore opposed his leadership style to the authoritarian regime of Park and positioned his power as socially oriented.

This was manifested in the renaming of the ruling party from the Democratic Republican to the Democratic Justice Party (DPS), as well as in the proclamation of the slogan “Justice Society”, which was to become the country. The ideological program of the DPS was painted in pseudo-liberal tones and was drawn up taking into account the borrowed concepts of Western political science. It put forward five main goals: the need to establish a Koreanized democracy, prosperity, justice, nationalism and unification.

In addition, under Chong, the slogan of New Korea appeared, picked up by subsequent presidents, and a set of measures began to be implemented aimed at a radical change in the country’s image in the eyes of the international community. Korea was to appear not as an Asian Nigeria, which it was under the very first president, Syngman Rhee, and not “our son of a bitch”, which it was under Park, but a prosperous country, which follows approximately the same path as Japan.

However, it was more of a facade color. Chong echoed Park’s ideas about the specificity of “national democracy” and the immaturity of South Korean society, unable to accept democracy in its purest form. The postulates of Korean antiquity returned to state myths, moreover, in the interpretation of those religious teachings of the early 20th century that remind Russian native believers both by mysterious sources, similar in reliability to the Veles Book, and by other statements about the greatness of Ancient Korea.

So, already the beginning of the 1980s was marked by a new outburst of interest in the figure of Tangun – the mythological founder of the Korean people, a descendant of a heavenly spirit and a bear, whose historicity is not so much the level of Prince Kyi how much the King of Peas. However, in August 1981, the National Assembly decided to revise the content of the Korean antiquity sections of the Korean history textbooks. After discussion, a number of changes were made to the content of school manuals, the most important of which were statements about the historicity of Tangun, and patriotic historians even managed to find the names of its commanders or the texts of battle songs of that time.

Anti-Japaneseism and the fight against “distortions of history” also remained part of the ideology. In 1983, in response to more Japanese history textbooks that justified annexation, the South Korean government launched a fundraising campaign. The Korean Independence Memorial Museum was built and opened on them in 1987. Its exhibit, which the author witnessed in 1990, was a notable example of nationalist propaganda – including colorful dioramas depicting the torture of Korean patriots or the signature of the class “Japanese police brutally killed Koreans during peaceful demonstrations with this saber. ” It was also of symbolic significance that in 1986 the building of the Korean General Government was renovated and turned into the State Museum.

True, in 1983, Japan provided Korea with a loan of $ 4 billion, amounting to 10 percent of the country’s external debt, and Chon Doo Hwan made his first official visit to a neighboring country, where he met with the emperor. However, he still did not apologize for the colonial period.

The Korean president did not avoid attempts to mythologize himself. According to Jung Geum Sang’s book Jung Doo Hwan – A Man of Destiny, translated into English in 1982, his birth was accompanied by mystical circumstances, including a vision of his mother before giving birth.Since 1983, the state security began to require representatives of the print media to have at least one photo of Jung Doo Hwan in every issue of a newspaper or magazine.

And one of the comedians, who tried to parody the president’s behavior and his characteristic bald head, was denied the right to appear on television.

Similar attempts to create a cult of his own were combined with the unsightly lifestyle of Chon’s family members. Although he himself was not overly corrupt, his older brother Jung Ki-Hwan, and the younger brother of his wife Lee Chang Suk, and the wife herself were mired in bribes and other economic crimes. She was subsequently accused of embezzling 42 million won (about $ 50,000) from the budget of the newly created New Generation Education Association, which received large government subsidies. As a rule, corruption was expressed in the embezzlement of the budgets of humanitarian organizations (the minimum was for charity, the rest was put in their pockets), the granting of monopoly rights to “their” corporation for highly profitable supplies, or the direct “protection” of a particular industry with a large police rank.

Lack of legitimacy led to the merger of the military-bureaucratic elite with financial-industrial groups. An indication of this was the Political Foundations Act, passed in December 1980. He allowed the party to create a “financial support group” that included collective and individual members. This is how a whole series of foundations appeared, like the presidential Ilkhe Fund, which formally emerged to collect donations for humanitarian purposes and was a large financial structure.

A similar situation was with human rights, where formally relaxations took place. In 1982, the conditions for foreign travel were relaxed and all travel restrictions were lifted, which previously closely resembled the approval of a foreign business trip to the USSR.And for students of junior high and senior secondary schools, the obligatory wearing of uniforms was canceled.

It is also believed that Jung Doo Hwan tried to divert public attention from troubling domestic politics through sporting events or films featuring daring sex scenes unthinkable in the 1970s. The dictator wanted the audience to gather in cinemas, not in squares for anti-government speeches, and have fun without thinking about the political situation. As a result, in the 1980s, a flurry of low-quality erotic films was released, which, however, gathered lines in cinemas. So, the 1982 hit “Madame Ema” was at the box office for four months, it was watched by more than 310 thousand people, and he spawned a total of 13 sequels.

With the same purpose, a boom in professional sports was organized. In 1982, the Korean Baseball League was founded – this sport is still one of the most popular in the country. This was followed by the Professional Football League, followed by the basketball league and the traditional shirim wrestling.

Interestingly, in the spirit of the anti-Japanese trend, critics of the regime argue that such a policy was either dictated to Chon by secret advisers from Japan, or copied the US policy in Japan after 1945.And even the idea to host the Olympic Games in Seoul was suggested by a former Japanese military man named Ryuzo Sejima in June 1980.

In fact, Chung Doo Hwan’s rule was marked by more serious violations of democratic norms than Park’s. The most striking example – the red color of a car or a tie was perceived as an allusion to communist views and could become a reason for investigation.

Under Chong, Kim Dae Chung, Park’s main opponent who had a reputation as a staunch dissident, was again sentenced to death.Under pressure from the public, the death penalty was first changed to life imprisonment, and later – to a 12-year term. However, some time later, in 1982, he was allowed to leave for treatment in the United States, in fact, sent into exile.

In February 1985, Kim Dae-jung returned home with an American delegation. In this way, they hoped to save him from an assassination attempt, but it did not help: a group of Korean security officials in identical raincoats literally pushed a path towards him with their fists, laid the Americans face down on the ground and dragged Kim and his wife into the car.He brought him under house arrest.

In the mid-1980s, the number of police units dedicated to breaking up demonstrations increased to 150,000 people. At the same time, among businessmen, the largest income tax was paid by the owner of a chemical company, which had the exclusive right to supply tear gas for the needs of the police. Jung Doo Hwan also created a special police squad called “White Bone”, composed mainly of martial artists, who cut into the ranks of the strikers, breaking heads and acting as strikebreakers.

Separately, we note the Decree on extraordinary measures to combat public evil, adopted in August 1980, the three types of which were declared violence, drugs and fraud. Young people detained on suspicion of such activities could be sent to “re-education” with subsequent forced labor virtually without trial.

were arrested as part of the “destruction of public evils”.

Two thirds of them – 37 thousand politically unreliable persons – went through the so-called “educational centers” (in Korean – samcheon kyoyukte).Modeled after army recruit camps, they are designed to beat rebellious spirits out of youth through a combination of constant beatings, strenuous exercise, malnutrition and intense brainwashing. The prisoners were tortured and ill-treated, as a result of which at least 54 people were killed – no one knows the exact number of victims of these political “purges”.

It was believed that together with the political ones, hooligan elements were sent there for re-education, who were supposedly “reforged” there. But the question of the extent to which the fight against youth crime served as a screen for reprisals against representatives of opposition-minded youth still needs to be studied and analyzed: it seems that under the conditions of the rigid totalitarian system that Park Chung Hee created, crime should not have developed.

The censorship was such that the publications were forced to merge or be closed. In addition, newspapers were not allowed to keep their own correspondents in other cities and were forced to rely only on government-controlled news agencies. In 1982, reading between the lines was as widespread in South Korea as it was in the Soviet Union. The news on the back page of the Korea Herald about the arrest of two students for distributing leaflets meant there was a big demonstration. At the same time, people were afraid to talk on the phone about what was happening in the country, as they were sure that their conversations were being tapped.

This policy of Chon Doo Hwan often provoked opposition from the United States. As a result of American pressure, Chon decided to abolish a number of unpopular measures, primarily martial law, and also turned a blind eye to the emigration of the dissatisfied – 35 thousand Koreans a year left for America as a rich free country.Although this second wave of emigration to America (the first was in pre-colonial and colonial times) began during the reign of Park Chung-hee, significantly more people left under Chon.

In general, compared to Lee and Park, Jung was a much more pro-American president. In 1983, US President Ronald Reagan paid a visit to South Korea. The very fact of this trip already indicated that the Republic of Korea was not the last in the strategic plans of the United States. During the talks, the American leader reaffirmed the US commitment to Korean security. They also expressed readiness to retain American troops in South Korea and increase their combat capabilities.

At the same time, the intensification of joint military exercises between the United States and the Republic of Kazakhstan was observed. The centerpiece was the now annual Team Spirit maneuvers, which were first held in 1976.Then they lasted 11 days, and 46 thousand soldiers took part in them. In 1983, 200 thousand soldiers were involved in the exercises, of which 70 thousand were Americans. A year later, the total number increased to 207 thousand soldiers, and the maneuvers became an important stage in the development of the strategy of Washington and Seoul to deliver a preemptive strike against the DPRK. In 1986, almost 219 thousand people took part in Team Spirit, of which 139. 5 thousand were South Koreans.

The presence of 40,000 troops in South Korea cost the United States $ 2 billion a year. The Seoul regime, in turn, volunteered to provide an additional $ 1.2 billion a year.

At the same time, the alliance of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United States was strengthened by two events in the fall of 1983. This is an attempt to assassinate Jung Doo Hwan during his visit to Burma and the incident with a South Korean plane shot down by a Soviet missile, after which Reagan called the USSR an “evil empire.”

There are enough dark spots in the history of the downed Boeing. For example, when the plane disappeared, the first reaction of the Korean press for some reason was information that a peaceful passenger airliner was intercepted for no apparent reason by Soviet military aircraft and forcibly landed at a military airfield on Sakhalin.Information about his death appeared only a few days later.

However, in 1993, Russian President Boris Yeltsin handed over to Seoul the data of the black box from the downed plane. It followed from them that the Boeing had deviated from the course due to a series of navigational errors, and the ship’s crew did not know until the last minute that they had flown into foreign territory.

Soviet troops took such a demonstrative violation for espionage and shot down the liner. Realizing the mistake, they concealed this fact for some time, declaring that the plane “retired towards the sea.”

In other words, the tragic incident looks like a series of mistakes on both sides, and not as the result of someone else’s malicious intent. Although it is rather difficult to imagine that a team of experienced pilots first laid the wrong course in the navigation system, and then ignored any information that the plane was flying in the wrong direction.

Moreover, this was the second similar case. In 1976, due to a similar error, a South Korean passenger plane turned almost 180 degrees and, having taken off from Paris, flew to Karelia instead of Alaska, where it was shot down and landed. Who in their right mind and strong memory would believe in such a coincidence?

The planned and actual routes of the downed South Korean aircraft

In addition, the movement in Soviet airspace almost coincided with the route of American reconnaissance aircraft, which flew there more than once and, in poor visibility, could be confused with this model of a civilian aircraft. Finally, the destruction of a civilian aircraft turned out to be very appropriate against the background of the exacerbation of the Cold War and coincided with the first attempts of representatives of the USSR and the Republic of Kazakhstan to establish some kind of dialogue that could be forgotten after the incident. These facts can be easily assembled into a version in which it is not a mistake, but a crime, and the deliberate sending of the plane to certain death.

The assassination attempt in Burma took place on October 9, 1983. The bomb exploded during a visit by a South Korean government delegation to the Aung San memorial at the sacred temple complex. This happened just at the moment when North Korean leader Kim Il Sung met with Deng Xiaoping in China in search of options for a diplomatic breakthrough in relations with the United States.

As a result of the terrorist attack, 17 people were killed, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and another 14 people were injured. Chon Doo Hwan miraculously survived – the delegation was quite representative (the visit was not only to Burma, but throughout South Asia), and his car was at the tail of the procession, while the perpetrators of the terrorist act went off when the doors were opened first. The memorial itself was also seriously damaged, despite the fact that only one of the three bombs mounted on the roof exploded.

The saboteurs were caught two days later: one was killed during the arrest, the other two tried unsuccessfully to commit suicide. One of them, Captain Kang Min Chol, agreed to cooperate with the investigation. He admitted that he was an employee of the special services of North Korea, illegally entered the country aboard a dry cargo ship and received everything necessary for a terrorist attack in one of the buildings of the DPRK embassy.

After the terrorist attack, Washington held back Seoul from a violent retaliation against Pyongyang. However, here one cannot but mention inter-Korean relations. For Rhee Seung Man, only external forces were to blame for the split of the country, while the people of the DPRK were deceived by the insidious ideas of the Comintern. Park Chung Hee also denied the legitimacy of the North Korean regime, but considered economic development to be the main way to win the confrontation between the two Koreas, and under Chung Doo Hwan, a realistic and pragmatic approach prevailed.

The emphasis was on international integration, the division of the country was perceived as a fact in which one should not look for the right and the wrong.

Geopolitical interests were positioned as something more important than “blood interests”, and unification was positioned as a step that would deprive Korea of external dependence. At the same time, violent methods were rejected, and the inter-Korean problem was perceived as an internal affair of the country, a kind of specificity of a divided nation.

It is clear that the unification was still perceived as an inevitable absorption of the North by the South, and the North Korean regime as a dangerous chaos. Nevertheless, Pyongyang was already considered a possible target for diplomatic cooperation. In fact, Seoul’s program was based on consolidating the status quo, creating a favorable atmosphere and gradual contacts in the cultural and economic spheres. Ideally, this should have led to the beginning of a dialogue aimed at achieving mutual understanding, stability and security on the Korean Peninsula – the issues of unification were relegated to the background.

In February 1981, Seoul openly proposed the idea of an inter-Korean summit. The authorities appealed to the UN Secretary General with a request to assist in establishing contacts between the two Koreas, as well as in the possible admission of both Koreas or South Korea alone to the UN.In an interview with Time magazine in April of the same year, Jung Doo Hwan actually put forward the idea of cross-recognition: first, the United States must persuade China to recognize South Korea and help it join the UN, and then America recognizes the DPRK. At the same time, the North and South were almost equal in the number of countries that recognized them: 100 and 113, respectively, by August 1980. At the same time, 61 states have established diplomatic relations with both Koreas.

Combining militarization, the strengthening of the Washington-Tokyo-Seoul tripartite alliance and demonstrative peace proposals, in 1981-1982 South Korea began to put forward political demands. In particular, she proposed a “plan for national reconciliation and democratic unification.” It envisaged the establishment of liaison missions in Pyongyang and Seoul and the drafting of a constitution for a unified Korea, in accordance with which general elections would be held and a unified government was formed.

The DPRK refused to this, putting forward deliberately unacceptable conditions, up to the demand for Chong’s public recognition of his crimes and an apology. At the same time, North Korean leader Kim Il Sung said that if the country goes to negotiations with the South, it will mean the recognition of the South Korean regime and the consolidation of the split.

The North Korean side continued to insist on the implementation of the utopian program put forward in October 1980 to create a confederation of North and South – the so-called “Democratic Confederative Republic of Korea” as one state with two systems. However, the exchange of proposals did not end with anything.

In 1983, against the background of further development of Sino-American relations, North Korea proposed the idea of a trilateral Korean-American meeting. However, it was then that the explosion in Rangoon occurred, and the proof of the DPRK’s involvement not only canceled out the Chinese diplomatic initiative, but also threw US-North Korean relations back so much that the general tension was comparable to the state after the Korean War.

In this regard, some historians, including Bruce Cumings, seriously question whether Kim Il Sung was really involved in this explosion. In his opinion, this could have been the initiative of another person, and the subsequent personnel reshuffle in the DPRK speaks precisely of this.Anti-Pyongyang-minded South Korean authors are trying to blame Kim Jong Il for what happened, and a number of leftists see a connection between this incident and the tragedy with the downed South Korean Boeing. In their opinion, we are talking about a series of provocations in order to surely disrupt the emerging dialogue, and the customers were certain circles within the Republic of Korea or American “hawks”.

However, most experts note that the evidence supporting the involvement of North Korea in this terrorist attack is quite convincing. Moreover, such actions were an extreme surprise for the government of Burma, which maintained rather favorable relations with the North, which were then severed.

Nevertheless, although the DPRK media openly called Jong Doo Hwan a “bloodthirsty” and a “freak” (in the Russian-language magazine “Korea Today” a whole series of articles appeared under this heading), the degree of exacerbation somewhat decreased. And on September 20, 1985 in Seoul and Pyongyang, the first meeting of representatives of separated families was held: more than 150 people had the opportunity to communicate for four days and three nights.

In conclusion, it is worth mentioning the economy of the Fifth Republic. On the one hand, Chon seemed to have “collected the whipped cream under Park,” on the other hand, it was during his reign that the Republic of Korea reached such a level when they began to perceive it as a state not of the third, but of the first world.

During his reign, the country’s trade balance stabilized, the North finally yielded to the South in terms of economic development, inflation was defeated, real wages of workers and employees increased, and the GNP of 1987 amounted to 3 thousand dollars per person. However, these advances were not the result of Jung Doo Hwan’s own policies, but rather the legacy of Park Chung Hee’s system. A number of favorable circumstances also helped – the fall in the dollar exchange rate and the decline in oil prices – which generally stimulated the growth of the electronics and automotive industries.

South Korean athletes next to the Olympic flame in 1988

Although the Olympic Games-1988, which took place after his departure, finally highlighted Kazakhstan’s breakthrough into the first world, the decision to hold the Olympics in the country was made back in 1981, under Chon.In addition, in 1986 South Korea also hosted the Asian Games.

The economy in the Republic of Korea remained the economy of chaebol – groups of formally independent firms controlled by certain families. The share of 10 large enterprises in the gross national product increased from 33 percent in 1979 to 54 percent in 1989.

Five-year plans also continued, but now they were called plans for economic and social development, which was supposed to emphasize concern for the people. In parallel with them, other long-term programs were developed. So, in 1982, a program for the modernization of the armed forces began, as a result of which the South finally broke away from the North in military-technical terms, and in 1987 the Ministry of Science and Technology began implementing a 15-year plan for scientific and technological development. At the same time, color television appeared in the country.

The course of establishing informal relations with the countries of the socialist camp also continued. For example, the volume of unofficial indirect trade between South Korea and China amounted to more than $ 300 million in 1980, that is, about the same as with the USSR.

Import liberalization affected not only industrial products, but also agricultural products – the policy of opening the internal market created favorable conditions for large enterprises, but caused a strong blow to agriculture due to the import of cheap products into the country from abroad. The time has come when imported products took up a large share of the South Korean’s dinner table.

Because of this, the rural population declined rapidly, and most of the peasants who left were turned into wage laborers in industry or services. Although the official sources of the Republic of Kazakhstan interpret this as the creation of 2.8 million new jobs, in reality, such problems as the sharp differentiation of society into the poor and the rich, contradictions between the city and the countryside, as well as between the regions, have become aggravated.

Another consequence of liberalization was the increase in debt.By the end of 1985, South Korea’s external debt amounted to $ 46.8 billion, the country for this indicator was in fourth place in the world.

However, certain economic and foreign policy successes could not change the image of Chong Doo Hwan as the executioner of Gwangju. In addition, a generational change took place in the protest movement, and the new youth could no longer imagine the devastation of the times of the First-Second Republics. However, about how the student movement looked and how, largely thanks to him, Chon’s plans for a second term fell through in the next article.

During the week we had 317 944 people who viewed 2. 26 million pages .

Korean News

China News

The next piece of news is much nicer: “Yuan Hong and Zhang Xin Yi in a romantic photo shoot for ELLE. ” News prepared by Amya.

I don’t know about you, but I have been completely delighted with the music releases all week, so I decided to make them a separate topic in this review. There is a lot of information about popular artists and groups such as EXO, BTS, GOT7 and it is not difficult to find it. But the world of Asian music is much wider, and it’s nice to see Drama Coon introduce us to it. Previously, such releases appeared only occasionally (for example, read about indie rock bands). Now this topic seems to like the releasers themselves and they more often began to indulge with “tasty” music news. Let me remind you of some of them:
– “Chun Sung An is a guy who mesmerizes with his violin playing”: his covers are distinguished by the staging of music videos, so Son Ana is a pleasure not only to listen to, but also to watch.By the way, he not only plays the violin, but also sings and dances (see the next news).
– “BgA, are they a new K-pop group?”: It all started with bloggers’ fun, and a pretty good video came out.
– “J-black N Pink is a Korean dancer with a unique style”: no comment)) just watch the video and be amazed at his talent.
– “Wang Li Hom wins with his voice”: This release reveals a little about the Chinese-American singer-songwriter, producer, actor and director.
– “Zhang Wei became the favorite in the Voice of China TV competition”: perhaps your country is also hosting this competition.Find out who won the hearts of audiences in China.
– “Verbal Jint Bilingual Rhymes”: How much do you know about Korean turnips, their history and development? The article follows Verbal Jint, the artist who turned the Korean rap industry upside down.

Korean and Chinese music videos

And again on the first BTS, this time featuring the music video “Save Me”, Jessica’s debut music video “Fly” and “Love Me The Same” received a lot of attention. MONSTA X’s “All In” video is another popular new release. The Chinese group is back with a song about friendship, watch ioband’s music video “Without you”.

123 dramas, 12 films, 41 shows have been updated and added. Popular Dramas:
1. “Devil’s Beauty” / Beast’s Beauty (Watch)
2. “Entertainer” / “Entertainer” (watch)
3. “Mirror of the Witch” (Watch) Cast: Handsome Jun Ki (biography) still leads the top leading actors. But the 2nd and 3rd places came as a surprise to me.The new James Reid biography has received a lot of attention from our users. Nam Goong Min (biography), who plays “ Devil’s Beauty ” in third place.

Korea Photosets

And what articles, perhaps not included in the review, did you pay attention to? What dramas do you watch and what music do you like the most?
