Bed Bath & Beyond remodeled its New York City flagship store
Bed Bath & Beyond’s flagship store in New York City, located at 620 6th Avenue.

On Thursday morning, Bed Bath & Beyond will officially swing open the doors of its newly remodeled flagship location in New York City.
For nearly three decades, the roughly 92,000-square-foot location on 6th Avenue in the Chelsea neighborhood sat mostly untouched. Fixtures became dated. Merchandise was piled higher and higher to the ceiling. Signage was dark, and the lower level felt akin to a dungeon, Chief Executive Mark Tritton remarked during a media tour of the shop this week.
The remodeled space looks nothing like it did before. Come Thursday morning, shoppers will be greeted by open windows next to a cafe area, a first-of-its-kind SodaStream bar, wider aisles, less merchandise, new brands — including an array of Bed Bath & Beyond’s own — and bright, modern branding.
It’s one of the first of 450 Bed Bath & Beyond locations that will receive a makeover in the next three years. A key part of Tritton’s turnaround strategy is investing roughly $250 million in the refreshes to win new customers and keep existing ones coming back for more.
The Chelsea location now features a sprawling health-and-wellness area, which the retailer says drives frequent visits to its stores and helps to build bigger and more profitable baskets.
“This is truly emblematic of the remodels we’ll be doing across the next three years,” Tritton said. “But there’ll be nothing quite like this Chelsea store.”
The store used to be cluttered with merchandise piled high to the ceiling.

The Chelsea location also offers a space for Bed Bath & Beyond’s private-label brands to shine. This is core to Tritton’s turnaround scheme. He’s taking a page from the playbook at big-box rival Target, where he previously served as chief merchant and helped to develop a number of successful in-house brands from scratch.
Bed Bath & Beyond is planning to roll out at least eight in-house brands in fiscal 2021, and more than 10 over the next three years. Some that have launched in recent months include a line for storage containers called Squared Away; a bath brand known as Haven; and a line of home goods under the Bee & Willow moniker.
According to Joe Hartsig, chief merchandising officer at Bed Bath & Beyond, the company culled back on merchandise in certain categories, like travel, that hadn’t been selling as well in the past in this Chelsea location, in order to make room for more bedding and bath merchandise.
Cutting back on stocked inventory also gave Bed Bath & Beyond a chance to declutter and organize inventory by brand, by price point, and sometimes by color, he said.
“We know it’s hard to shop at our stores,” Hartsig said during the store tour with Tritton. “So we’ve really tried to make it easier to navigate the aisles … the wider aisles are very clean. The presentation is very tight.”
Customers in this store will also be able to use a new scan-and-buy feature that was recently launched in Bed Bath & Beyond’s mobile app, whereby shoppers can bypass the checkout line and pay in store from their phones.
Here’s a first look inside.

A space at the front of the store will rotate with seasonal merchandise. It’s currently devoted to back-to-college goods.

A first-of-its-kind SodaStream station will be staffed for customers to design their own flavored sparkling water drinks.

Customers can also shop mattresses and pillows from a pint-sized Casper store within this store.

Google Store Chelsea goodies: Opening hours, merch, more
The first permanent Google Store opened just this morning, and the company has provided some more details on logistics, such as opening hours for the Chelsea location and how shopping works.
The store’s opening hours
Google Store Chelsea is located at 76 9th Ave, New York, NY 10011 and opens from 6 p. m. 10 to 20 ET Monday to Saturday, while it closes a little earlier at 19 on Sunday.
COVID security protocols
Google explains that employees will wear masks, perform regular self-temperature checks and clean the store every day. This is in addition to currently limiting the capacity of the store and handing out masks and disinfectant. In return, visitors are asked to wear the mask, use hand sanitizer and “shop six feet apart.”
Merch and inventory
Google refers to “exclusive brand” that will not be available online. This includes a tote bag, basketball, hats with Chrome Dino and ‘G’ logo, t-shirts and more. Otherwise, the company says it will “carry every product and model currently available in the online Google Store”, although “colorways are subject to availability.”
When it comes to phones, “the Pixel carrier options available online can also be selected in-store.” This includes unlocked models and Google Fi.
Google One benefits
One of the better benefits of Google One is the 10% refund on Google Store purchases if you subscribe to the 2 TB storage plan. You get the same Google One credits on in-store purchases.
Purchasing and picking up in store
There are no traditional cash registers in the Google Store Chelsea. Each employee can check you out on a mobile device. When you order online, you have the option “pick up in store”:
You will be notified when your order is ready and receive a QR code. Bring the code during your store visit, show it to all employees, and they will give you your order.
Dogs
Last but not least, the Google Store Chelsea is dog friendly in true Doogler fashion:
Yes! We look forward to meeting your furry friends and will have free treats available.

A look inside Google’s first store, opening in NYC’s Chelsea neighborhood tomorrow – TechCrunch
There have been plenty of pop-ups over the years, but tomorrow Google’s first store opens in NYC’s Chelsea neighborhood. The brick-and-mortar model finds the company joining peers like Apple, Microsoft, Samsung and even Amazon, all of whom have a retail presence in Manhattan, including several just around the corner from Google’s new digs.
The new space, which opens tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. local time, fills 5,000 square feet of selling space in Google’s big, pricey West Side real estate investment. The retail location was previously occupied by a Post Office and Starbucks, which vacated the premises once their leases expired under their new corporate landlord.

The store’s layout is designed to be experiential, highlighting the company’s growing hardware portfolio along with select third-party partners. Essentially it’s a way for the company to get Pixel phones, Home offerings, Stadia, WearOS and the newest addition to the hardware portfolio, Fitbit devices, in front of tourists and locals.
“We really used the pop-ups over the last several years to get a better sense of what are customer expectations for what we can uniquely deliver at Google,” VP Jason Rosenthal said during a press preview week. We’ve taken learnings from our 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 pop-ups and really fed that learning into what we’re opening[ … ] in Chelsea.”
Due to pandemic restrictions, the preview was virtual. While it’s open to the public this week, the company will be maintaining the standard safety precautions, as the city deals with (knock on wood) the tail end of the pandemic.
And while COVID-19 almost certainly slowed the planned opening, Google promises that things will be in full force starting tomorrow. This follows several weeks of piloting, wherein the store’s 50 or so staffers were put through their paces, while the company put the finishing touches on the experience. Prior to this, Google built a full-size store mockup in a hangar space in Mountain View to test out ideas.
Image Credits: Google and Paul Warchol
In addition to product screens and dioramas lining the 17-foot windows, the company filled the store with “sandboxes” — effectively scenarios like a living room, not dissimilar to what you might find in a large furniture store — albeit better lit. There’s also a gaming area for playing Stadia and a soundproof spot for testing out various Home/Nest products.
Like Apple’s Store, customers can bring in for repair broken devices like Pixels. The company says it’s growing the number of devices that can be repaired on-site, while certain issues, like a broken screen, should be able to be fixed same day.
It seems likely that the store is a pilot in and of itself, with further plans to open additional locations in the U.S. and, perhaps, international markets where the company sells hardware. For now, however, Google won’t discuss the subject beyond tomorrow’s opening in Chelsea.

Chelsea Pharmaceutical Garden, history, description, photos, opening hours, ticket price
Chelsea Physic Garden is a small botanical garden in the center of London. In the 18th-19th centuries, medicinal plants were grown here for the pharmacists’ guild.
The garden was opened by the guild of pharmacists in 1673 and , and it became the second botanical garden in London. It was planned to grow the plants necessary for the preparation of pharmaceutical potions here, but after several decades the problem of lack of funding was revealed. The situation was saved by Isaac Newton’s successor at the post of the Royal Society of Science, Hans Sloan, who bought the garden’s lands and handed them over to the society of pharmacists for a symbolic fee of five pounds a year. Since then, for almost three hundred years, the garden remained a closed place for visitors, until in 1983 it opened its doors not only for botanists and pharmacists, but also for all other flora lovers.
The Apothecary Garden performed an important scientific function – since the 18th century, it cultivated the exchange of seeds with other botanical societies and researchers. In particular, it was from here that cotton seeds came to American Georgia and became an indirect cause of slavery on the plantations of the South.
The area of the garden is small – only about one and a half hectares, it is surrounded by a high brick wall and due to this it remains a relatively little-known place even for native Londoners. However, the wall has another purpose: it protects many delicate plants in the garden from the wind and accumulates heat from the sun and passing cars. Usually in winter the temperature in the garden is on average several degrees higher than in the rest of London, and this made it possible to grow here the most northerly olive, pomegranate and grapefruit trees in Europe.
A walk along the paths of the garden promises to be very rich in impressions – saving space, several species of plants were planted here on every square meter.Among them there are many herbs and berries known to us – such as blueberries or yarrow, but there are also flowers that are unusual for the Pharmaceutical Garden, which were also used to make medicines, cosmetics and perfumes. However, it is better not to tear anything, since the secret duties of pharmacists in the old days also included the manufacture of poisons, and the raw materials for them also grew in the Pharmacy Garden.
Chelsea Apothecary Garden is not only an educational place, but also very beautiful. There are shady alleys with benches and statues, as well as a lovely pond, near which a special rocky garden has been grown. The soil to simulate the rock was made from broken bricks and fragments of Icelandic lava. If you wish, you can visit the local cafe and souvenir shop.

Finding out what kind of shoes can be found in the multi-brand NO ONE store this season. In this review – ankle boots, chelsea, combat boots, sneakers and trainers, boots with chunky soles
In a world where the concepts of work and leisure are mixed and blurred, the term “work-life balance” is becoming more and more relevant. This also applies to fashion: we no longer want to divide our wardrobe into categories “for work” and “for leisure” – we need things that are equally appropriate and comfortable in the office, at dinners with friends and at the cinema after a working day, and also on walks. on the weekend. We found just such a versatile shoe from the new collections in the NO ONE multibrand network.
Laconic ankle boots
If you had to choose only one ankle boots for the fall, it would be them – calm colors, laconic design and comfortable heels. These can be worn even with strict suits, even with dresses, even with jeans and sweaters. If you already have universal ankle boots in your wardrobe, brighten up the season with accent options: in a beautiful burgundy shade, like in Fabi, or with an unusual heel, like in a pair of Vic Matie. They do not contradict the business style at all; rather, on the contrary, they pleasantly diversify it.

Chelsea
Traditional English boots can be loved at least for the elastic on the side, thanks to which it is much more comfortable to put on shoes than with lacing.Classic Chelsea options suit everyone, no matter what you have on your calendar today – a business meeting or a brunch with friends. Recently, brands have been experimenting with silhouettes: Chelsea are put on a massive sole, as in the case of the Principe di Bologna model, or they change the shape of the nose, as in Marsell. But even in the updated form, the boots are still practical.

Combat boots
The so-called “army” lace-up boots have long been a universal option for the city – in rough shoes, especially in bad weather, and you really feel like a fighter ready to fight puddles and slush from September to April.Boots from the collections of Fratelli Rossetti, Fabi and other NO ONE brands can bring almost any office item to life: add a sweater or blank shirt, A-line skirt or trousers with arrows – and you get a perfect illustration of a modern business style.

Sneakers and trainers in soothing colors
Free interpretation of business style is becoming more and more popular in modern companies. The main thing is not a conventional set of things from a suit and specific shoes, but an assembled look. For office shoes with a relaxed dress code, choose sneakers or sneakers in soothing colors that can be worn with a business suit. Who knows, maybe they’ll push you to go hiking after a day’s work. In this case, we advise you to pay attention to the models insulated with fur, such as Doucal’s and Premiata have.

Chunky sole boots
Boots, hikers or chelsea – today almost all autumn-winter models can be found on exaggeratedly thick soles. We are only for: they look very modern – this time. Two – in such boots with a rubberized toe, as on the Principe di Bologna model, you can safely walk through the puddles. And three – on ice, the grooved outsole will provide good traction.

These and other models of footwear and accessories can be purchased in the NO ONE boutique chain, as well as on the official noone website.ru.
