What are the best 3D printers?
Based on our extensive evaluations and hours of testing of more than a dozen models in different price ranges, we recommend the Monoprice Voxel as the best 3D printer for anyone on a budget. It produces good-looking prints at speeds you’d expect from more expensive models. Monoprice also makes our best budget 3D printer, the Delta Mini V2, which is easier to find these days than the also excellent XYZ da Vinci Nano.
We also like the 3Doodler Create Plus pen as a tool to help teenagers and hobbyists create their own 3D objects. Those looking to print in a variety of materials should turn to the LulzBot Mini 2 if you can still find that model.
As for SLA printers, the Form 3 ($3,499) from FormLabs is ideal for professionals who need a dependable 3D printer and who won’t blink at the printer’s high price tag. If you’d like to pay less for your SLA printer, check out the Peopoly Phenom, which at less than $2,000, is almost half the cost of the Form 3.

If you’re looking to get started in 3D printing, the Monoprice Voxel 3D printer is a great choice, as it delivers high-quality prints without costing you a fortune.
Novices will particularly appreciate the heated print base on the Voxel, which means more reliable prints when you use materials like ABS. The top of the print bed slides out, too, and it’s bendable, so removing prints is a snap. We also like the fact that the Voxel is enclosed, an important consideration if you’re planning on using a 3D printer in a home or classroom.
The MP Voxel is speedy, producing prints in times we usually see from more expensive devices. We were also impressed with the quality of prints, which accurately recreated details and captured natural, smooth curves in our testing. You may run into some minor frustrations with setup, but once it’s up and running, the MP Voxel is the best 3D printer for people who want to experience 3D printing for the first time.

How do you follow up the best resin printer around? Build something even better, which is what Formlabs has done with its new Form 3 3D printer. You’ll get a slightly larger print area than you did with the Form 2, but the real change in this new version is the Form 3’s redesigned optics engine. The laser and optics are located in a sealed package that makes the printer more reliable since it keeps out dust that might block the path of the laser.
We certainly saw that reliability when testing the Form 3, as none of our prints failed — a first for us. We also appreciate the use of Low Force Stereolithography, which means that the Form 3 uses less force when working with the hardened layers of a print in progress.
At a starting price of $3,499, the Form 3 is not an inexpensive 3D printer, though if you don’t need the new features, Formlabs sells refurbished versions of the Form 2 for around $1,000 less. (Your best bet for buying the Form 3 or Form 2 is to go directly to the Formlabs website.) Artists, designers and professionals who do a lot of 3D printing won’t mind the price, as they’ll appreciate the time saved by the dependable Form 3.

To get started in 3D printing for less than $200, look no further than the Monoprice Delta Mini V2. It’s an affordable printer that’s still fully featured a delivers excellent print quality for the price.
You’ll make some compromises like a small build volume, even compared to other budget 3D printers like the da Vinci Nano. But you do get support for a wide variety of materials, with the Monoprice Delta Mini V2 able to handle PLA, ABS and other materials. You don’t often see this kind of flexibility in an entry-level device.
It’s hard to beat the value of the Monoprice Delta Mini V2, especially for people just getting started in 3D printing.

This updated version of the LulzBot Mini doesn’t miss a step when it comes to replicating what made the original such a great 3D printer. Once again, you get a printer that’s flexible enough to handle different materials at an affordable price tag if you’re ready to step up from models aimed at beginners.
But the LulzBot Mini 2 outdoes its predecessor by giving you a larger print area to work with and a new, more flexible printhead capable of handling even more materials. Our testing revealed that the Mini 2 churns out prints faster than the original with quality remaining high on the finished product.
You may have to hunt down the LulzBot Mini 2 and finding it for a price around its original $1,500 cost may be a challenge, as the printer is in short supply. It remains available at 3D printer retailer Dynamism for $1,495. That’s a better price than we’ve seen at other retailers, suggesting supplies for this older printer may be running low.

5. XYZ da Vinci Nano
A bargain 3D printer if you can find it

With the Monoprice Delta Mini V2 3D printer now available, the da Vinci Nano from XYZprinting can no longer boast that it’s the best inexpensive 3D printer around. Still, it’s a good bargain, if you can find the da Vinci Nano for around $200. (That may take some doing, as the printer is in seemingly short supply these days.)
The da Vinci is relatively compact, about the size of a bread maker, but it has a generous-for-its size build area of 4.7 inches on all sides. (That’s bigger than what Monoprice’s budget printer offers.) There’s a door to close off the print area and block out some of the noise from printing, but be aware that opening the door doesn’t stop the printing process.
The da Vinci Nano is no speed demon — other best 3D printers produce objects in much less time — but the prints it produced in our testing were of very good quality. The software that accompanies this 3D printer is also easy to use, another reason why we recommend the da Vinci Nano for classroom settings. A wireless version — the da Vinci Nano w — is available at the XYZprinting site for $159.

6. Polaroid PlaySmart

The brand that made its name with cameras that can instantly produce photos is now doing the same with 3D printing. The Polaroid PlaySmart is one of the best 3D printers to get if you’re looking for a beginner-friendly device that also produces good-looking prints relatively fast.
In our testing, this Polaroid 3D printer churned out prints much faster than comparably priced devices. The output looks good, too — details are clean and smooth, and we had very few problems with our test prints. We also like that the Polaroid PlaySmart can work with different types of materials, and you’re not locked in to buying your printing material from the manufacturer.
These days, you can find a Polaroid PlaySmart for just a little bit more than the da Vinci Nano — and sometimes the same price when there’s a sale on Polaroid’s 3D printer. That makes it a good option if you’re looking to get started in 3D printing. The PlaySmart takes a lot of the waiting out of 3D printing process, and we think you’ll be pleased with the results.

If you want to take 3D printing into your own hands, we recommend, the 3Doodler Create Plus. This handheld pen lets you create 3D objects as easily as you would with a standard pen and paper.
We like the 3Doodler Create Plus because it’s easy to hold and it supports a variety of materials. Less expensive options like the Polaroid Play 3D Pen restrict you to PLA, so you get greater flexibility with the 3Doodler Create Plus. You’ll also find hundreds of stencils from 3Doodler that can help you design toys, animal models and other architectural designs. There’s a $19.99 kit that features additional nozzles for changing the layer size and texture of your model.
3D pens typically attract younger users, and the size and simple controls of the 3Doodler Create Plus is the right size for tiny hands. You’ll find yourself reloading the pen frequently, as the 3Doodler Create Plus uses shorter filaments, but overall this is a very good experience for people who want to find a creative way to design small objects.

8. Peopoly Phenom

SLA printers can be pricey, but Peopoly is doing its part to knock that cost down. With the Peopoly Phenom, you can get an SLA printer that’s capable of working with a wide variety of resins for less than $2,000. And you don’t even have to sacrifice on print speed or quality as the Phenom produces excellent 3D prints.
You will need to be fairly comfortable with 3D printing, though as the Peopoly Phenom has its share of quirks that require a lot of tweaking and some patience. There’s no Wi-Fi connectivity, for example, and creating a print involves a few manual steps. Printing can be pretty noisy and there’s a slight chemical smell, so you’ll want to have a dedicated space for this printer in your workshop. (And set aside a lot of space — the Peopoly Phenom is a very big printer.)
Still, if you’re a 3D printing veteran, you’ll appreciate the lower overall cost of the Peopoly Phenom. And the expanded build area means you’ll be able to create prints that simply aren’t possible on some of the other best 3D printers. The Phenom is available directly from Peopoly for $1,999.

9. Toybox 3D Printer
A fun printer for creating your own toys

There are more sophisticated 3D printers out there than the Toybox 3D Printer. But as an introduction to 3D printing, this device will appeal to young makers looking to flex their creative muscle. And they’ll get to produce toys as part of the bargain!
Using the Toybox 3D Printer, you can create small toys — you’re limited to prints that are around 3 inches on each side. The controls are simple to operate, and printer maker Make.Toys includes a selection of free toy templates that you can use to get started. You’re also able to modify designs or even upload your own, adding to the creativity that this printer can spark.
Kids shouldn’t use the printer unsupervised, as it’s too easy to touch the hot printhead or one of the other moving parts. Because the Toybox’s printing bed isn’t head, sometimes prints can be difficult to remove. Nevertheless, we were charmed by this printer and how quickly it produced good quality prints. If you’d like to experience Toybox for yourself, you can buy a starter kit directly from Make.Toys that includes the printer and a selection of materials; the Toybox has also popped up at some retailers’ sites.

How to choose the best 3D printer for you
Not sure how to decide which 3D printer is right for you? Here are a few things to consider when shopping for a printer.
Printer type: There are two main types of 3D printers: FFF (fused filament fabrication) and SLA (stereo lithography). FFF printers — which also cover FFM (fused filament manufacturing) and FDM (fused deposition modeling) devices — work by melting a plastic filament in a moving printhead to form the model. SLA printers use an ultraviolet (UV) laser to solidify a resin, focusing the laser to form the solid model. FFF printers are generally cheaper, simpler and easier to use, although SLA models like the Peopoly Phenom are lowering the price.
In addition to 3D printers, there are also 3D pens that hobbyists can use to create models using plastic filament. These are handheld devices that usually cost $100 or less, so they’re another low-cost way to give a kind of 3D printing a try.
Printing materials: Whichever type of printer you choose, pay attention to the type of material it uses when printing. The filament material used by FFF printers is available in several different materials, such as PLA (a brittle, biodegradable material), ABS (the same plastic used in Lego blocks), nylon, TPE (a soft, rubberlike material) and HDPE (a light, tough polystyrene). Many of these materials, particularly PLA and ABS, are available in a huge range of colors. Filaments come in two sizes: 1.75 mm and 3 mm, which are not interchangeable.
SLA printers have fewer options than their FFF counterparts, but printers like those from FormLabs can use resins that produce models ranging from very rigid to flexible and rubbery. The best 3D printers can use a wide range of materials, each of which comes with its own strengths and weaknesses. (HDPE, for example, is light and tough, but not suitable for food use, while nylon is food-safe.)
Note that some printers only allow the use of approved materials or materials produced by the same company that made the printer. In that sense, those types of 3D printers are like more traditional paper printers: The manufacturers sell the hardware cheaply and then make money back on the consumables. (One of the best 3D printers for people on a budget, the da Vinci Mini, only works with PLA filament from manufacturer XYZprinting, for example; on the bright side, XYZ’s filament costs about the same as most third-party materials.) Other 3D printers place no restrictions on the type or origin of the material.
Print volume: All printers have limits on the size of the 3D print they can produce. That limit is defined by the size of the print bed and how far the printer can move the printhead. This is usually measured in cubic inches, but you should also pay attention to each of the individual dimensions, which determine the maximum size 3D print the device can create.
Print speed and quality: 3D printing is a slow business, and at present, there’s no way to get around this. You should expect a 3- to 4-inch model to typically take between 6 and 12 hours to print, depending on the print quality you select. That’s because of the way 3D printing works: The print is constructed in layers. The thicker these layers are, the quicker the print is produced but the lower the print quality is, as the layers become more visible. So, there is a trade-off between print speed and print quality.
The best 3D printers will allow you to determine which way you want to go with this, producing prints quickly or more slowly but at higher quality. The best printers offer a wide range of quality settings, from fast (but low quality) to slow (but high quality).
Price: The best 3D printers don’t have to cost a lot, though the ones used by professional designers and creators who print at heavy volumes will certainly put a big dent in your budget. (Both the Ultimaker 3 and Formlabs Form 3 cost upward of $3,000, for example.) But you can find very capable 3D printers for around $1,000, and prices are even lower for machines aimed at novices, educators and home printing enthusiasts. Prices for entry-level 3D printers are now below $300, and some of the best 3D printers now cost less than $200.
While online retailers like Amazon offer different 3D printer options, some 3D printer makers only make their products available through their own websites, so don’t be shy about shopping around.
How we test 3D printers
When we review a 3D printer, we set up each model, noting how long it takes from the time to remove the printer from its packaging to calibrating the printer so that it’s ready to use. We also take note of any special set-up instructions.
We look at what kind of materials a 3D printer supports and whether the manufacturer requires you to only use materials they sell.
When its time to test the printer, we have three different test models — a miniature statue of Rodin’s Thinker, a complex set of planetary gears that incorporate interlocking parts, and a geometric sculpture to see well the printer can reproduce sharp edges and points. In addition to evaluating the quality and detail of each print, we also time how fast the printer works at various speeds, from draft mode to the highest-quality setting.
We also consider the software that a printer uses and the different ways you can control prints, whether it’s from a computer or via a control panel on the 3D printer itself.

3D Print Everything was born in April 2017 with the purchase of my first printer and a dream to be self-employed. Part of the spark that brought me to 3D printing for a profit was a quote I got from a 3D print shop that seemed so high the only option for me was to learn how to print and with that offer 3D printing services to people at a more affordable price! I began 2019 with 7 printers and by the end of that year we had 20+ active printers, multiple resller agreements for 3D printers, A quality industrial portable 3D Scanner, and more B2B connections that allow us to offer even more services.
2020 Was looking to be a strong year for promoting/ booths, events and growing the business, as we all know March 2020 was about to change how everyone viewed the present and future!
3D Printing saw a huge surge in the early months of Covid-19, With people in their homes off work, health concerned individuals, and entrepreneurs the spark of learning how to 3d Print to save the world was off! Face masks, ear savers, door knob pullers were produced by us and by the tens of thousands of others around the world. In the shortage of medical supplies Makers stepped up to fill the gap. Our Facebook group “3D Print Everything for Profit” grew from 5,000 members to 13,000 members in 3 months with vetting people so many were turned away if they didnt answer.
In the following months as big businesses started back up with social distancing in-place our local b2b 3D printing saw a massive uptick.
In the middle of all this we also started up the production of 3D Printer Filament Under the name Dragon Print.

3D Printing in the Denver Public Library ideaLABs
We’ve made some changes to the way we offer 3D printing!
We’re excited to let you (yes, you!) get more hands-on with the printers and run your print job yourself. This does mean we are no longer running a print queue or accepting submissions for printing – but now you will have the chance to run the entire process yourself, from design to finished print.
Use of the 3D printer is by reservation – please drop in or call the branch to reserve time. You will need a Denver Public Library card to make a reservation in advance. The maximum time you can reserve is two hours. We ask that people only make one reservation per week so as many people as possible can use the printers. Please read the full 3D Printer Policy below for details. We also have an FAQ below that for general questions about 3D printing.
Every ideaLAB has at least one Lulzbot printer. Visit your neighborhood lab to learn more! Please note that the ideaLAB at the Central Library will remain closed due to on-going renovations to the building.
Denver Public Library ideaLAB 3D Printer Policies
As the ideaLBs reopen, the use of tools may look somewhat different than in the past. One of the big changes we’re making is to give customers more of a hands-on experience using the 3D printer.
In order to help you use the 3D printer successfully (and safely), we ask that you read through the following policies:
- Please try to read through the 3D Printing Guide before your first visit if you can.
- Use of the 3D printer is by reservation only. For the present, a reservation gives you the right to use the printer for two hours, once per week. We ask that families and groups not make multiple or back-to-back reservations under different accounts – that makes it much harder for other people to get access to the 3D printers.
- Please know that if you don’t show up within 10 minutes of your reservation time, the system will automatically cancel it.
- If the printer is broken when you have a reservation, we’ll do our best to let you know ahead of time, but sometimes that may not be possible.
- You must check in with ideaLAB staff before using the machines so you can get the material you’re using approved by lab staff and get the 3D printer toolkit. We want to make sure everyone is safe and that you’re comfortable with the equipment.
- We’re sorry, but you can’t bring in your own filament. We want to keep jams and fumes to a minimum for everyone. We will provide free PLA+ filament, but we can’t change out colors for each customer nor guarantee you a specific color.
- We’ll give you some basic troubleshooting tips, but if something goes wrong, please don’t do anything that involves disassembling printer hardware. Doing so will result in loss of privileges to use the machine. Please let us know if a problem pops up and we’ll help!
- Things happen. Occasionally extruders will jam, beds will get scorched, and minor disasters will occur – these are understandable, and part of the process of learning how to use the printer, and will not affect your ability to reserve and use the machines. If you do something intentionally dangerous or that we’ve asked you not to do – using unapproved filament, removing parts from the machines, etc. – you will lose your privilege to use the machines..
- DPL printers can not be used to print out any weapons (if it’s for cosplay, talk to staff and we’ll try to figure it out). Outside of that, most things should be fine, but the Library retains the right to refuse any print request for any reason.
- Set-up and clean-up time is part of your 2 hour reservation, so please plan accordingly! Please finish your 3D printing jobs at least 10 minutes before the session ends so you can clean up materials and station. Jobs can not be left running overnight or past the end of your 2 hour reservation.

What can be printed?
All printing is done with PLA, a bioplastic made of corn. It might get a little melty if you leave it on your car dashboard, and you may not want to use it to make shelving mounts for your prize kettlebell collection. It’s possible to make your model a little bit stronger by making it’s walls thicker or requesting more infill. Ask us about it and we’ll try to help you out. But if the piece you’re printing is really mission critical in some way, use it at your own risk.
What cannot be printed?
Due to demand and limited resources, we can’t print any job that will take over two hours. If you have something you’d like to print that will take longer than that, we’re happy to help you try to figure out how to break up your model into smaller jobs, scale your print, or point you to one of the many paid 3D printing services. We also will not print out any weapons. Outside of that, most things should be fine, but the Library retains the right to refuse any print request for any reason.

Create a file
- You can download an object file from a site like Thingiverse, Bld3r or use some of the lab’s free modeling software like Tinkercad, Blender or SketchUp to make your own designs.
- Export your object as a .stl or .obj file. Need help? Just ask!
Make your reservation
- Reserve time by coming by the branch, calling, or come into the ideaLAB during our open hours. You can reserve up to two hours on the machine.
Print out your creation
If it’s your first time in the lab using a printer (even if you’ve used a printer before), please budget a half hour of your first reservation for an orientation with a staff member. They’ll run through the basics on the machine and get you started.

It has already been 4 months since I have a new printer from Perm from the Show-Design company in my studio. More precisely, this is the second device, but let’s take it in order.
I started printing more than a year ago and I need a printer to make very specific tools of my own design – these are low and not very complex geometrically products made of PLA plastic.
My first printer was and is still the Moscow MZ3D-360, with which I will involuntarily compare my new device.
The photo shows the first device that came to me in June.
There is already Maestro’s review on 3dToday, but let me repeat myself in something, here is my personal opinion.
The first thing that catches your eye and arouses admiration is the packaging. The printer arrived in a solid plywood cube, inside of which there were foam mats, covered with film, which gives the printer complete safety, and at the same time there are no annoying pieces of electrified foam.The printer, as many have noticed, is visually similar to Picasso Designer, but apparently it just coincided.
The printer’s kit is standard, but I want to note as a person with an artistic education that a palette knife is not the most convenient tool.
Much more convenient is the stainless steel scraper like that of the MZ3D – it is more comfortable, sharper and wider.
But I was very pleased that the spare nozzle was with a bit for unscrewing with a screwdriver or by hand – the other day I changed the nozzle and it was convenient – without keys, like in MZ3D, which, probably, are made of plasticine and no longer hold the thermoblock, as it breaks off the hex key notch instantly.Very soft metal at the keys.
I was very pleased that the plastic on the coil is hidden inside the case and closed with a lid with magnets. Comfortable. However, there are two drawbacks at once associated with refueling plastic:
- The printer has a filament sensor. When overcoming it while loading, you have to try to push the thread through without breaking it. This is difficult on a new reel, as the reel just strives to spin. Straighten, slightly bending the tip of the plastic – a must!
- The long loading tube path approaches the head at a 90 degree angle.I did a lot to refuel, but by frequently bending the plastic to the limit – fortunately, with a slow bend, the PLA does not burst, but only squeezes. I do not print with flexes or keramo. however, this can be problematic for them.
So, the plastic is filled in and you can test the seal.
I’ve tried a lot of slicers, but Slic3r works best for my tasks. It builds the paths of movement of the head on my models as logically as possible, allows you to quickly make changes, and since I have a Mac Book Pro, I calmly cut everything both at home on the W10 and in the studio on a Mac.
The printing profiles that I had been perfecting for months on MZ3D did not fit here at all and I want to express my special gratitude to the guys from Show-Design for the standard Mac profiles prepared for me for Slic3r. For the standard program (doped RepeaterHost) does not work on it – it is only for Windows.
I would especially like to mention the G28 command in the code. Each G28 at the start of printing leads to the next calibration of the table. And at the end (as it is in the Slic3r slicer code) – it leads to dire consequences:
The printer finishes printing and the code tells him – and calibrate the table again.And he obediently goes to move the table, breaking everything in its path. Stepper motors are trying to tilt the table to reach the nozzle, but I’m sorry – the 80mm part is in the way. In short, check the print end code!
I always print remotely from a computer, from a flash drive.
The printer has one knob and display. All control goes just by pressing and turning the knob. On Maestro’s first printer, the knob was ‘click-free’ when turned, and I flew by a million times. Then it turned out that it depends on the supplier of the parts.That with clicks is, and then – no. We use what we have installed. Not very good. But thanks to Dmitry Shumkov, the representative of the manufacturing plant, who replaced this penny part for me on the first device during his visit. And the visit was for this reason.
The printer is equipped with a table calibration system. It is currently not disabled and each time before printing the printer calibrates the table.
After 4 months, I want to declare responsibly that it is sick and tired, well, seriously! I understand perfectly well that the table should be level, but it is always calibrated before printing and.always different.
Everything is cool in theory – a denzo sensor, three attachment points, stepper motors at 2 out of 3 corners. And there is the only explanation that I have not yet tested in practice – what if I have a crooked glass.
However, I still have a skewed table. Is always.
That is, one corner is slightly raised, and the other diagonally is failed. Because of this, when printing the first layer, I have no extrusion somewhere and the filament sensor is triggered (like the filament does not move, check it!), And on the other hand, the plastic does not gag, but the plastic ‘fits’, and on the 2-3rd layer everything flies off wonderfully from the table.and went to reel.
I tried to put various flat objects under the glass, I twisted the glass, but I could not get a perfect print. The bottom line is that I always stand next to the printer until the end of the first layer printing. And this is my time !!
In the menu there is a fine calibration of the table level – Z-offset with a step of 0.01 mm, and, dear reader, I had to move it from -0.20 to +0.15. which is insanely large, considering that I don’t print huge details and the first layer of 0.25 is huge for me.
Sometimes the entire thickness of the part can be 0.3 mm in three layers of 0.1. and if in MZ3D I can set the layer height to 0.05 and it will print everything, then there is a failure.
This corner, for example, has failed.
In the MZ3D-360, the table setting is done manually using a primitive assistant in the driver and 4 wings with springs. Simple, but damn it, I calibrate the table once a quarter (4 times a year) and print every day without problems with the first layer, where there are never any dips and distortions (and this is with a moving table!).
These were flowers.
Berries went on continuous printing. That is, loading the printer on 3-4 tables one after another without turning off the printer and with periodic replacement of plastic with other colors.
On the one hand, such requirements should not be impossible for a device costing more than 100k, but as it turned out, there are some nuances here.
In endless correspondence with representatives of the plant, who I want to pay tribute, patiently withstood my onslaught, a jamb was sounded when, when replacing plastic, in rare cases, the printer lost its orientation in space and could not continue printing, but for me it became a system.It even happened that the head banged against the front glass (door) !!
It got to the point that I could not put the printer on for a long print, for example, at night. The printer started to blow off the head. That is, he began to jerk her for no reason, moving diagonally, and then the print went according to the program, but in a different place.
Here’s the simplest example. Diagonal lines are the head ripping process. on the first layer!
That is, when printing, the printer was held only by the dimensions of the frame.If not for them, he would have left for the next room.
The printer put a point in its destiny itself. One morning he did not come out of the self-test mode.
As the manufacturer later wrote to me, the stepper motor connector spontaneously came off in my head.
As a result. my printer was replaced and the same, but completely new device arrived. But they left me the same glass and guts as from the first printer. Well, so as not to complete again.
By the way, about glass.It is not hardened like that of the MZ3D-360, and after 4 months of careful use, it has the worst scratches. The Moscow printer is almost one and a half years old and not a single one. And how I was scratching the surface with a scraper.
I, joyful, have been using the new printer for a couple of days. Until his head was blown off. And after a while I again noticed problems with adjusting the table. I grieved, and decided to look for the problem. The main question was – is it in ‘hardware’ or ‘software’?
Through weekly dances around the printer, I found out that the problem of head breaking is purely software.Now, I turn the printer off and on every time before printing. That is, I reboot his brains. And for a long time I have not had a single breakdown. This is progress !!
There is only one problem left to solve – with the table.
And wait, suddenly the brain software developers will add at least part of the functionality that is in the MZ3D-360, namely:
- Adjust print speed – accelerate or decelerate.
- Temperature control of the table and extruder.
- Filament feed adjustment – press more or less.
- Displays the height of the layer currently being printed (this is important to me).

Further tests of various plastics began – fortunately there is a heated table and you can see all the delights in comparison with a table without heating.It just used to stop many plastics from testing, not wanting to mess around with increasing adhesion, spending a lot of time on it. There and then the printer was just for testing, so it was possible to get ridiculous.
What has already been tested:
ABS – no comment. Prints well. The adhesion is excellent. By the way, I use 3D varnish everywhere, which immediately removes half of the headaches with sticking tape and other bumps.
Neylon. It prints fine.But adhesion is the same problem as on a cold table. Maybe a little better. Very moody stuff.
Any Bronze, PC, etc. prints without problems.
Next came the soft plastics – Flex from REC. The result is great!
It’s not even about adhesion, which is excellent (in principle, I have quite good on a cold table), but the fact that there are no plugs in the extruder. Those who have printed with flexible materials know that they sometimes create such hemorrhoids when working …
Flexible extruder works fine.I had no problems at a speed of 25-30 mm / s. You can most likely print faster. The design of the extruder is very good in this regard.
But I had an order and I decided not to tempt fate. We are talking about “rounds” at the top – gaskets for industrial equipment. Not sold separately – consumable. The cost of a part where 4 such rings are used from 9tr and wait 1.5-2 months because of the hillock.
I also tested the NS-19 on it. It is simpler than ABS, so there were no problems at all.
PLA from REC – prints fine. The details were small – 20 * 5mm, so I had to print at a low speed.
By the way, again, clear proof of the demand for 3D printing. Peugeot turn switch tips. Not sold separately. And the whole assembly stands like an airplane.

Slightly aesthetically strains the bundle of wires leading from the extruder. We need to somehow solve this problem.
Minus two – when you pause or stop printing yourself – printing just stops. I’m already used to the fact that my extruder moves to the side in both situations and allows me to work with an unprinted model. This is especially true for the pause. What’s the use of a pause if I can’t get to the model itself because of the extruder?
Of course, maybe this moment is interesting only to me, with my experiments. But this is solved by small changes in the firmware. On my Gefesh, right after receiving, when I updated to the latest version, everything appeared.
That was a pleasant surprise. The printer, upon first inspection, leaves the impression of a solid product made of metal. But its appearance in comparison with others is rather modest. Maybe because of the size.
Nothing squeaks, does not fall off. Soundly made, but without “zest”. Perhaps because of this, he is underestimated.
Well and … There are no expectations from him for super results. Imagine my surprise that I was wrong. That is, it seems to be a modest, small printer, but it prints VERY decently.And most importantly, without dancing with a tambourine.
The speed for such a scheme is quite normal – it produces 60-80mmsec without loss of quality. I haven’t overclocked it to the maximum yet, we’ll see.

Developers, I can offer a number of improvements:
1. It is very inconvenient to go through 3 menu levels to lower the table, this is a frequently required operation, add such an item to the main menu and it will be much more convenient, and even better, so the limit switches are available for pressing with a finger, the agenda a counter, that for example, when you press the Z end switch when the printer is NOT WORKING, the printer will lower the table to the lowest position and it will be super convenient in my opinion, of course.
2. the motor heats up, the gear is iron and transfers heat well to the bar, and if it is soft and loses strength after 40 degrees, then this is not good, make the drive gear ceramic and this problem will go away forever.
3. the printer “does not see” emergency situations: a part has fallen, a filament has gnawed, a sticking has occurred – as a result, you have to sit next to it for hours and days, nevertheless, your printer can track this problem, and even partially correct it, and even without additional expensive sensors – it will be enough if you start monitoring the current in the motors. an overload of the platform motors has occurred (it means that something has fallen and interferes with the movement) – stop. Fell on the current on the extruder motor (it means either the part fell and the nozzle works into a void, or the gear gnawed through the bar) – stop, there is no point in continuing.Also, if the current begins to grow (the situation preceding the sticking) – reduce the flow rate and temperature by a couple of percent.
Thus, without significant costs with these improvements, your product can become simply unbeatable and have no competitors for a very long time.
