Black smart shirt: Men’s Formal Shirts | Smart Shirts

19 Best Black T-Shirts For Men That Will Give You an Instant Hit of Cool

If the best plain white tee is the Pete Sampras of the menswear world—well-rounded, even-mannered, a preeminent champion—then the best black t-shirt for men is Andre Agassi. Black tees are sexier, sleeker, more direct. You wear a white T-shirt because it’s easy and goes with everything; you pull on a black one when you want to feel good. They give off Danny Zuko-y bad boy vibes with a leather jacket, bring an assassin-like precision to a black or navy suit, and just generally look smart and modern on their own. You are never underdressed in a black T-shirt. And that’s why it’s important to find the very best black t-shirt for your tastes and needs—which, as it happens, is exactly what we’re about to help you do.

The Best Soft Black T-Shirt

Sunspel classic cotton T-shirt

If hand-feel is your number one criteria, then Sunspel’s signature model is your runaway winner. All of the tees on this list are varying degrees of soft, but this one is competing with newborn lambs and kitten bellies in that department. It’s cut from a crisp, luxurious long staple supima cotton that drapes gracefully across your torso and feels like wearing a cool breeze. In post-pandemic times—for better or worse—it’s the kind of shirt that just *looks* so comfy, strangers will be compelled to come up to you and ask if they can touch it.

The Best Heavy-Duty Black T-Shirt

Noah oversized heavyweight pocket tee

You’ll never have to fear a saggy collar or clingy torso in one Noah’s new heavyweight tees. They’re as brawny and substantial as it gets, built from a rugby-jersey-esque 8.5 oz jersey that’s designed to outlast a heavy day’s wear and endless rounds in the washing machine. Add to that a roomy, comfortable fit and a handful of bang-on details—like a perfectly-sized pocket and a locker loop on the rear—and you’ve got yourself a tee that’s ready for whatever the spring throws your way.

The Best Affordable Black T-shirt

Uniqlo U crew neck short-sleeve T-shirt (was $15, now 33% off)

Uniqlo U is a menswear cheat code, and these T-shirts are its crown jewel. Clocking in at just $15 bucks a pop, Christophe Lemaire’s signature crewnecks have all the hallmarks of a tee four or five times the price: thick and weighty, boxy and crisp, a total standout even in the most basic colors of all.

The Best Modern Black T-Shirt

Buck Mason pima curved hem tee

There aren’t a ton of ways to innovate on a T-shirt. You can fool around with the fit, experiment with fabrics, stretch and reshape the neckline, maybe cut a few unfortunate holes into the body. Californian basics purveyor Buck Mason chose a subtler route: they gave the hemline an attractive curve. That one small change has the effect of making an otherwise classic crewneck tee—with a trimmer cut and a top-shelf pima cotton knit—feel subliminally, almost imperceptibly new.

The Best Oversized Black T-Shirt

John Elliott Anti-Expo tee

Usually, calling something “rough around the edges” is a bad thing. But it’s the main selling point of this tee from John Elliott: the sleeves and hem have been left unfinished, lending the shirt a raw and punkish edge (literally). Beyond that mild swerve, all the typical attention to detail and quality that earned Elliott one of our Best New Menswear Designer honours back in ‘16 are still very much present—it’s got a very-right-now oversized fit tailored from a just-right medium weight fabric.

The Best Ultra-Luxe Black T-Shirt

Celine T-shirt in silk jersey

Sometimes you shell out extra for a designer T-shirt, and then feel a little bummed when it doesn’t seem all that different from the Hanes three-pack you already owned. You’ll never have that problem with Celine’s signature tees: the moment you slip one on, you can tell an inordinate amount of thought went into getting it just so. The entire thing is cut from pure silk, which is breezy enough for the dog days of summer, feels like absolute heaven, and drapes against your chest in the most flattering way possible. And, because this is a Hedi Slimane joint, the silhouette is as razor sharp as it gets: trim and tailored through the body, with a slightly scoopier neck and higher-cut sleeves for an instant hit of rock god cool.

The Best Eco-Friendly Black T-Shirt

Everybody.World recycled cotton Trash tee

Feels like everywhere you look these days, brands of all sizes—from the tiniest underground streetwear brands to the oldest European fashion houses—are rushing to develop sustainable practices, often in the form of T-shirts purportedly made from recycled materials. But nobody does ’em better than the originators: LA’s Everybody.World, who launched their signature Trash tees back in 2017. The brainchild of American Apparel alums Iris Alonzo and Carolina Crespo, the shirts are crafted using the leftover cotton scraps from factory floors, but look and feel like the furthest thing from garbage. Instead, they’re buttery soft and perfectly roomy, the kind of tees you’d want to buy even without the added satisfaction of a clear conscience.

Six More Black Tees We Love

Comfort Colors short sleeve tee

Comfort Colors’ extra-soft tees are beloved for their, you know, colors. But they’re pretty darn great in black, too.

Alex Mill standard pocket tee in slub cotton

Looking for a black T-shirt that’s not quite so pristine and pitch black? Alex Mill’s slubby, texture-rich tees are the way to go.

GQ 8-Ball T-Shirt

Two tattooable graphics printed on GQ editors’ favorite T-shirt blank. (Seriously—we wear ’em every day.)

Everlane premium-weight crew

So rock solid, it comes backed by a year-long warranty.

Kirkland Signature crew neck tee (6-pack)

Stop sleeping on Kirkland, folks. These tees are big, beefy, and clock in at less than $4 a pop.

Velva Sheen cotton-jersey T-shirts (2-pack)

Cut boxy through the body with shorter, bicep-popping sleeves—the way guys like Brando used to wear ‘em.

3sixteen heavyweight pocket T-shirt (2-pack)

We’ve personally put these hardy, American-made beauts through the ringer for years—and they still look and fit as great as they did on Day One.

Gap classic T-shirt (was $20, now 55% off)

You probably own a couple of these already, and have done for as long as you can remember. We’re just here to reaffirm that that was a good decision.

Dickies short sleeve heavyweight crew neck pocket tee

We spend a lot of time around here praising Dickies’s hardwearing work pants, and not nearly enough celebrating their equally tough, affordable workwear tees.

Mott & Bow “Carlton” heavyweight pocket tee

Sometimes beefier tees can feel as stiff and rough as cardboard, but this heavyweight champ is soft to the touch.

Reigning Champ T-shirt (2-pack)

Thanks to the reinforced collars and cuffs, these tees will almost always come out of the wash looking virtually the same as they went in.

Hanro Living short sleeve crew neck tee

Lightweight, a little slouchy, and smooth as silk.

Hexoskin’s smart shirt feels nice, but can’t tell a step from a curl

History is littered with stories of companies that share a deep rivalry, yet are based a stone’s throw away from each other. For instance, the drive between Apple’s and Google’s respective headquarters is less than 15 minutes; Adidas and Puma have factories situated on either side of the Aurach; and Samsung and LG are less than an hour away from each other in Seoul. It may surprise you to learn that Quebec is another hotbed of tech rivalry, housing smart-clothing pioneers OMsignal and Hexoskin. Last week, I squeezed myself into the former’s shirt, and now it’s time to risk my dignity (and my dinner) by wearing the latter for your entertainment.

Gallery: Hexoskin hands-on | 10 Photos

Gallery: Hexoskin hands-on | 10 Photos

Both companies are producing sleeveless shirts with contact pads on the inside that touch your skin, while a black Bluetooth unit attaches on the outside. The similarities, however, end there, since the Hexoskin is made from spandex (okay, Carvico’s Revolutional, textile nerds) and, in addition to being a compression garment, has two straps that you can tighten around the sensor regions. Where the OMsignal was reasonably thick, the Hexoskin is wafer-thin, to the point where you certainly won’t be wearing this outdoors without a T-shirt or sweater on top.

The sensor itself is roughly the size of a Zippo lighter and, rather than using pushpins to connect it to the shirt, there’s an odd, stick-shaped proprietary connector that slides through the hardware. You then have to tuck the unit away in a pouch on the right-hand side of the shirt before you can start exercising. There’s a similar USB-proprietary cable in the packaging for you to use when charging the unit, too. Aside from the slot up top, there’s a single, large button used to activate Bluetooth pairing, along with three LEDs — one for battery life, one for if the unit is recording your vital statistics and a third showing the status of your connection. As for battery life, the promised time is more than 14 hours of training life and more than 150 hours with “standalone recording,” enabling you to wear this to track your sleep. I’ll update this more when I’ve been able to give that feature some more stringent testing.

Open the app and you’ll be asked what activity you’re up to today, with a selection of preset choices available. The list is much longer than I had expected, including not just the usual stuff like running and biking, but also meditation, weight training and even Zombie for those who can’t bring themselves to make any more effort. The software monitors your heart rate, breathing volume, breathing rate, activity and sleep, although like the OMsignal app, you’ll have to paw across to another page to find your activity and calorie information. It’s odd because the app itself has so much negative space, it’d be easy to place all of this data on the same screen. This minor gripe aside, the app is significantly more polished and, for want of a better phrase, better looking than its immediate rival. You can also do a little more with it, since you can use your phone’s GPS to map your routes when you’re out and about. It transpires, however, that whatever algorithms are being used to run the Hexoskin’s calculations aren’t particularly good at error-finding. I did some weight lifting (with my feet shoulder-width apart) and all of a sudden, the step count began to rise every time I moved my arms.

On the downside, the app is a lot slower to refresh than the OMsignal, and I often had to wait several minutes before it worked out that my heart rate had increased while exercising. Then there’s the fact that there’s no fitness test, meaning it’s tough for you to get a base level of fitness that you can then improve upon. In fact, much like OMsignal, there’s no coaching or social component to the app either, and while some may feel the latter only appeals to the narcissistic or lonely — I happen to think that sharing your stats is beneficial, especially if you’re working with a professional trainer, and also because the competition may spur you on.

A Hexoskin starter kit is priced at $399 CAD (around $350), but I’m not entirely sure where the extra money goes compared to the $249 OMsignal. I mean, the app is much prettier and well-designed; the shirt itself is more comfortable; and it’s made out of fancy fabric, which I assume costs more. Beyond that, however, I don’t feel there’s much difference between the two options, since neither offers a compelling product that I’d feel comfortable recommending to you all.

We’re currently at the point where smart clothes are so new that companies are throwing stuff against the wall and seeing what sticks. The two products I’ve tested over the last few days show that there is promise in this particular area and it certainly won’t be long before someone cracks this particular code. For now, Hexoskin and OMsignal aren’t pieces of consumer technology for the mainstream, and I hope time and experience will help both companies improve their products. I’m sincerely hoping both work on their software, since both have enormous potential that is, as yet, unrealized. Of course, professional athletes and trainers who need all the data they can get their hands on — and have the money to spend on bleeding-edge technology — will certainly find something useful here. For everyone else, however, I’d say it’s probably best to wait until the second generation.

Ralph Lauren’s ‘smart’ shirt is the ultimate preppy tech

Ralph Lauren’s sensor-laden shirts are finally coming to the masses — provided the masses are willing to cough up $295 for a workout shirt.

At a preview event today in New York City, the lifestyle brand revealed pricing and availability for its long-in-the-works PoloTech apparel, made in collaboration with Montreal-based tech startup OmSignal. The “second-skin” fabric workout shirt has silver fibers woven directly into the fabric and a small, sensor-filled black box that snaps into the shirt near the rib cage, to track biometric stats like steps taken, heart rate, breathing depth, and energy exertion.

Ralph Lauren first showed off the biometric shirt at last year’s US Open tennis tournament, using ball boys as its lab rats. One top-ranking player, Marcos Giron, wore the smart shirt during practice as well.

Since then other biometric shirts have popped up, including ones that use micro-EMG sensors to measure muscle effort, made by a Redwood City-based company called Athos. (Earlier this year I reviewed a pair of Athos pants, as did The Verge‘s Ben Popper.) OmSignal, the company that partnered with Ralph Lauren for the PoloTech Shirt, sells its connected compression shirts separately — although both the PoloTech shirts and OmSignal’s own shirts are only available for men.

But David Lauren, executive vice president for advertising, marketing, and communications at Ralph Lauren, said in an interview that women’s smart shirts are on the way. The company is working on making more casual connected apparel — such a polo shirt that could be worn all day, not just during exercise. And Lauren said a smart suit was not out of the realm of possibilities. (I just cannot even, with this level of Bluetooth-connected Americana.)

As you might expect, there’s a Ralph Lauren mobile app that syncs data from the PoloTech shirt. It’s iOS-only at launch and currently doesn’t integrate with other third-party fitness applications.

Still, the aim with the app is to offer real-time analysis and workout suggestions based on the biometrics you’re showing, which means Ralph Lauren is at least aware of one key problem with connected health and fitness devices: there are many that can track what you do, but not as many that tell you what to do next.

The PoloTech shirt goes on sale starting next Thursday, and in case you missed this earlier: it costs $295.

For a smart-casual look that works just as easy in the office as it does after hours, match your blue jeans with a neutral long sleeve shirt, such as crisp white, dark navy or black. Switch it up after work or the weekend with some fun printed shirts such a floral, paisley and geometric.

Can shirt sleeves be shortened?

Polo Tech – smart sports jersey that syncs with iPhone and iPad

The famous fashion house Ralph Lauren presented an unusual accessory for active people. Tennis player and several ball fights from the U.S. Open will try on the Polo Tech nylon shirt. At first glance, an ordinary accessory measures key indicators of health and fitness, and then reports the indicators to the iOS device.

Ralph Lauren calls itself the first luxury lifestyle brand in the smartwear market. The company is testing its debut garment, the Polo Tech smart shirt, at the US Open. Sensors are sewn into the Polo Tech fabric that allows you to read biological and physiological information.

The New York-based company has not only released an unusual polo shirt with sensors, but also tried to make this garment as modern as possible. Polo Tech is made in “smooth black” colors, in the upper part there is a yellow Polo Player logo.Ralph Lauren assures that the owner of Polo Tech will almost immediately feel his polo as a “second skin”, the level of comfort and the ability to move is simply limitless.

The smart shirt was created in collaboration with OMsignal . In May of this year, OMSignal presented a T-shirt technology that reads various health indicators. A team of expert neurologists, sports physicians and engineers work for Canadians, and it was through their efforts that the “smart shirt” appeared. It is not only the ability to collect data that makes it smart, but also to send it to a smartphone, for example, an Apple iPhone.

The shirt Polo Tech has a whole set of sensors that read the indicators of heart rate, respiration (frequency and depth), activity, steps taken, calories burned and changes in heart rate. The data is transferred to a small “black box” (held on the T-shirt with a clip). The “black box” sends data to the proprietary application Polo Tech for iOS via Bluetooth 4.0.

In May OMsignal said that the “black box” will last for 30 hours of continuous operation, then it should be charged from the mains. There are no sources of electricity in the shirts themselves. Can they be washed? Yes! The “black box” is protected from water, sweat and light rain. However, it is not recommended to swim with it.

The honor of testing new shirts fell to several ball-fights and the tennis debut of the U.S. Open Marcos Chiron . Chiron will wear Polo Tech during training so he can learn more about his biometrics (fitness, breathing) and make his tennis game even better.

Ralph Lauren is confident that their product will not be exclusively niche, Polo Tech will become a part of the lives of millions of ordinary people. The smart shirt is slated to launch in 2015. At first, the smart jersey will only be sold in the United States.

White shirt: Alena Gudkova – L’officiel

My coolest management experience before “Courage” was Forum, where I was a marketing director. I have never worked in this field , and the position was high. I felt my importance, that I was already an adult, responsible girl and that something important was entrusted to me.

Speaking about events, the most instructive experience I had with Kartina (Sergey Nekleva) at his event agency S * EVENT. I organized a millionaire company event in Barcelona. At that time I had only one year of experience. Because of this, I have not yet been involved in projects. I was entrusted with organizing the event in Barcelona, because I am the only one on the team who spoke English and was free.

I’m 23 years old, I’m in Barcelona, I have a lot of money with me, I’m doing an event for bankers. Everything is in my hands, I am all so important … In fact, everything turned out not very cool and I was very tired. I even got threats from clients because the devil knows what was going on there. I was very worried. It was a closed project, I can’t talk about it now. Well this party didn’t work out because it was a radical and very democratic concept from Amsterdam, sold to “undemocratic” clients.

The main achievements of “Courage” for five years are the trust of strangers, friendship with them, great partners and receiving cool gifts. For example, Vera Brezhneva and the elevator she paid for. Monobank, which said: “We only want to help you” – and has raised more than 17 million hryvnia for charity in two years. It is a great achievement that “Courage” has such a reputation when people come and say: “Hello, paint the elevator, here’s 500 thousand hryvnia for you”.

We are often called a charitable project. But we are a commercial project with a charitable focus. It’s just that we donate a lot of money to charity, and everyone has such an association. But we also make money. If they hadn’t given, they would have had more.

Our most significant and noticeable victory to people – gold statuette “Effie” for the project “Be Anyone”.

The coolest thing about Kurazh is the team, its backbone and internal processes. Nowadays “Courage” is complex and at the same time simple. Simple – in the organization, because the internal processes have been worked out.

The hardest and easiest thing to do with a team is the people. Find an approach to all. And find an approach to yourself. Try not to think subjectively.

Teamwork is difficult for me. I am very sensitive and deeply worried about everything. I take the slightest conflicts personally. At the cost of gray hair and a very mature face over the past five years.

There was a severe catharsis at the end of last year.I just stopped moving, I had a lumbar spasm. I wore a corset for a month and was really very scared. I am 34 years old, I cannot walk. And I thought, “Oh, so this is how it works.” These are the signs. And I realized that the body is an asset that needs to be protected.

I took care of myself this year. And, of course, I started with the head. I reconsidered how I perceive situations, became more honest with myself and with employees. I just realized that not all people can get the desired result. Has ceased to be nervous, has caught Zen.

We have no rules in our work, there are values by which I select a team. And there is a black list. This is stealing, gossip, laziness and deception. We focus on it when we move, work and make some cardinal decisions. If something happens to a person within the framework of the black list, and it happens not by chance, but consciously, then we say goodbye right away, because these are destructive things.

I always try to select people for a team, because there is already a backbone. At the interview, I look to see if the person will work with the team, whether he will join the story at all or not.

I would like Ukraine to officially donate more than 4% of your annual profit, which is not taxed, to charity. I also understand that this is impossible, because there are very few people who honestly want to do this. But there are a lot of people who will start using it for other purposes. This is very insulting and annoying. It turns out that if you want to buy some kind of apparatus for a hospital for 2 million, you have to pay the state 400 thousand more taxes from above. It’s not fair at all. This is demotivation. It would be good to have a committee to consider such issues individually.

It is also important to change the approach to charity. I am often asked by acquaintances or foundations: “How can I get to you so that you can give us all the money?” I say: “Look, in order for us to give you all the money, you need to give something too. At least to your own fund.” Because the job for most of the foundations is to be an intermediary between the people who bring the money and those who should receive it.This option does not suit me. I need a proactive fund that generates cool content, invests not only in buying a device, but also in telling about it in an interesting way and forming a new culture. Cool examples – Maria Artemenko, Olga Kudinenko, “Tablets”, “Dobrodiyiv Club”, “Dobro.UA”.

The attitude towards charity in the country is changing. But my Ukraine is completely different. I don’t understand at all when they say that Ukraine is terrible, bad, all the goons around. Thanks to “Courage” there is no such feeling. My whole Ukraine is very beautiful and developing. I really believe in all the people around me. People come to “Courage”, I look at them and think: “Oh, this is Ukraine, so super in general.”

Those who come to “Courage” like how we do charity with a no drama approach. We used to collect crumbs compared to what we have now.

In April, we launched a project with Bitch Life to raise money for security packages for the homeless.2400 bags of food and hygiene products were given to the homeless. We collected 360 thousand hryvnia in less than a day. That’s the power of the community.

In quarantine, I cooked borscht, fought with my husband, fought with the child, then put up with everyone. In general, for me, specifically, quarantine has become a very painful and very cool period. In general, I am really grateful for this year. Because if there was no quarantine, perhaps many of the issues, the discussion and solution of which I delayed, I simply would not have discussed or decided. For example, she would not solve many issues in a relationship with her husband. When you close at home, you understand: the relationship should either be super cool, or it shouldn’t be.

I have never been so long with my son, he is four years old. I’m a working mother from day one. Let’s go to “Courage” – here’s a nanny for you, here’s a sissy, you go for a walk in the park, I’ll be here on the platform. During the quarantine, the first month was difficult. We needed to make friends, adapt to each other. Over time, we found a common language and began to understand each other.

I was impressed by the book “Essentialism. The Path to Simplicity”. This is the second time I reread it. It has become a kind of bible for the modern world, it clearly and clearly tells about what to pay attention to and what not. This means how to learn to distinguish what is noise for you, and what is important.

For example, what is important to me in a relationship? I want to keep my family together. And every time the demons start throwing you from side to side, I remember what the target was. If it changes, its ok too, but just don’t kid yourself.

With a child, I had a goal for him to grow up next to us, to become more independent. And it worked.

I set many priorities for myself because there was a lot of time. I was able to scan my whole life.

I started to take care of my health. We started to eat healthy. We now have a food system that is completely suitable for our family.

I also realized that you need to value people. You need to be softer. Don’t destroy anyone. For some it was more noticeable, for someone less noticeable who works well.

I just said, “I don’t want to get sick anymore because you are doing a bad job. I just better say goodbye to you, but you will not destroy yourself or me.” And you know, somehow cheered up in general, super. No one has said goodbye since that moment.

We do not perform “Courage” during quarantine. Now our agency runs the pages of my husband’s business – food delivery GudFood. And a couple more projects that are close in spirit. There are no other plans yet. In general, I realized that I do not want to breed mediocrity. Therefore, now I am in a state of analyzing the ongoing work. That is, today on the GudFood page, which we started on May 1, there are already almost 12 thousand organic subscribers. I believe that this is a mega success and a mega case. This inspires me and inspires our entire team, of course. But let’s see.

Actually, I don’t want to work anymore. Physically, I don’t want to work anymore. Globally, I have an ambition to do some other cool social project. Connect it with ecology, plant a forest, for example. I really love the Carpathians.

Our new home is an incredible feeling. First, this is the most beautiful house I have been to. Really. We “kicked it out”. We built a house 30 seconds away, on a neighboring plot from where we lived. Every day they saw how it was built: from clearing the site to Sasha’s grilled dinner.

I love so much to stay on my own. This is such a rare luxury for me. I love to drink wine, lie on the couch and watch a movie about Annie Leibovitz. I really like to read a book in a hammock, take cover and fall asleep.

I like to go to a massage. Honestly, lately, when I’m in silence, I want silence. Well, I’ve already missed my girlfriends very much, I haven’t seen anyone just like that for a long time. Chat girly to discuss everyone.

Matvey I always give some advice. Speak for yourself, do not judge others. Sometimes it happens to him: “But she is naughty.” I stop him right away. Speak for yourself. Only speak for yourself.

Do not take someone else’s and do not bother people. Do not bother people – this is generally the most important thing. I am now teaching him that the more you are adaptive, the more your emotional intelligence will be developed so that you do not impose on people and do not interfere with them with your opinion, with your occupation, or something else. Just try to be cool. Try to be a normal person.

What advice would he give me? “Mom, let me play the guitar and you dance.” He always says to me: “Dance.” And still very often he says to me: “Either look at the phone, or drive the car.” This is super strict advice. If we are driving through the village and I need to call Sasha, my son starts to turn on a loud siren and just shout: “Stop, stop, put down the phone.” That is, his dad taught him so, knowing that I could be a sinner in this. Here. Cool advice really.

He also says to me: “Mommy, I’m your son, so you can kiss me as much as you want. All of my life”.

This whole year has been a torture of uncertainty. It seems to me that the next one will be easier. Smart people already understand that nothing will return to normal. It is important to be adaptable and flexible.

Now I’m in such a melancholic mood and I’m listening to Strykalo. I discovered the Moon for myself in the fall, although she often trades with us and somehow even performed. But for some reason I never listened attentively, but here I listened to her. I really like her lyrics, I really like that she is so strange, so totally extraordinary. I really like her song “Fata Morgana” – in general, the club is so cool. And Dorn, of course. Is always. Dorn always. Renaissance now. Well, in general, Matvey loves Dorn very much, we listen to Dorn. I try to instill in him a taste for great music right away. That is, he never listened to children’s songs at all, for example. Well, somehow it’s not fun for me myself.

I actually have favorite artists – “DakhaBrakha”, GusGus. I love this music. But now such a mood.

I also like to listen to electronic music and live live of our residents from “Courage” every day.

Review of the series “Magnachello”: a bold project that not everyone will like

13:31, 16.08.2021

On August 16, TNT starts a black comedy that will outrage or charm book lovers.

Magnachello is an experiment in every sense.Firstly, this is a regional TV series – it was invented in Buryatia and filmed there by local director ( Zhargal Badmatsyrenov ) and artists. Secondly, the plot. The main character is a maniac, and the crimes he is committing are prohibitively cruel and disgusting: severed heads, suspended corpses, blood – all this the viewer will see in the frame. And for many, I think it will cause a reaction of rejection. More recently, heated discussions on the topic of a strange telemode on serial killers flared up in social networks. I remember that Ksenia Sobchak was strongly criticized for her interview with the Skopinsky maniac. And in this sense, TNT, which decided to put “Manyachello” on the air at 20:00, of course, is sliding on thin ice. On the other hand, no one has canceled the black comedy genre. And if you once liked, say, “Four Rooms” or the recent film “Dad, Die!”, Then the new TNT project is for you.

To be honest, it is not devoid of grace and originality. The action takes place in the Buryat village of Sosnovka, in which the unspeakable luxury of nature contrasts with the wretchedness of life and customs of local residents. Creepy margins – drinking and mocking the great and mighty Russian language – they can piss out any intelligent person, and if this person is with a traumatized psyche, then it’s not far from murder. The maniac is introduced to us right away – this is a morgue worker Timofey, who speaks exclusively literary. A book reader and bibliophile, who knows the classics by heart, as well as everything connected with the life and work of great writers, he goes crazy because they do not understand him in Sosnovka. And he begins to kill people, but every crime furnishes artistically – as an illustration of a classic work.

Vladimir Bartashevich starring in the TV series “Manyachello”

Electrician Timofey cuts off the head and puts it on the rails, previously, like Annushka, spilling oil on them.He hits the old money-giver right in the head with a 19th-century ax. A local rapper (read a poet) is hung up on a rope in a hotel, appealing to the circumstances of Sergei Yesenin’s death. And two young men, dressed in medieval clothes, are killed the way Shakespeare would have dealt with them in Romeo and Juliet.

But no matter how much soul and imagination Timofey put into his art villainy, the local police are not able to consider the meaning of his messages and references – three prohibitively stupid and uneducated representatives of the investigative bodies are involved in criminal cases, who do not even see in the series of terrible murders that shake the village , series. And then from the “center” a specialist is sent to Sosnovka – the investigator Olga. A beautiful and clever woman (TV presenter of the Buryat television Asya Kasyanova ), well-read and erudite, she immediately deciphers literary motives in crimes. But the police ridicule her and in every way obstruct her activities. But Timofey falls in love with Olga – it seems that in this educated girl he finally found a kindred spirit! Almost forgetting about his own safety, he begins to help her investigate cases …

Magnachello is a witty parody of serial killer projects.Have you noticed how in each of these the authors are trying to find reasons for the childhood of maniacs? So Timofei also turns out to be traumatized: raised by an overprotective librarian mother, who forbade him to communicate with the “rabble” and locked him in the room until he read all of Prishvin, he grew up a sociopath, snob and misanthrope. Many more detective cliches are ridiculed in “Magnachello”. For example, Timofey lives with a woman who is forcibly held in slavery by being chained. But she suffers from Stockholm Syndrome and is ready to wash blood-stained shirts and offer her ideas for criminal installations. In some places the series resembles Lars von Trier’s film “The House That Jack Built” – there is the same monstrous mixture of villainous and aesthetic. In some places – all these series in which the investigations are conducted by strict and intelligent women. There are a lot of misogynistic jokes in the project – and I suppose that many will not like it either. On the other hand, there are several brightly spelled colorful characters (insane sculptor, no less insane medical examiner), as well as a scattering of witticisms.

Not all actors play equally well, someone squeezes and grimaces. But there are directly noticeable works – for example, the actor of the Ulan-Ude theater Vladimir Bartashevich , playing the role of Timofey, is a wonderful find that will decorate any project – from dramatic to comedy. Buryat flavor, dialect, faces, of course, give the series a zest. TNT, representing for many years the Caucasian and Permian (“Real Boys”) humor, expands the boundaries and does the right thing – in the mixing of cultures, our wealth, including comedy. Well, the most daring people on our TV ventured to produce such an atypical series – Valery Fedorovich and Evgeny Nikishov , who admit that they are unlikely to ever promote projects about maniacs, but here they could not pass by the “nuclear combination of Buryat realities, great Russian literature and humor “.
