Beyonce’s 2015 Met Gala Dress Gets A Must See Prom Redesign By Missouri Teen — PHOTOS

Remember Beyoncé’s 2015 Met Gala dress? The sheer gown was a custom Givenchy creation, sprinkled with jewels and gems. Bey wore her long, golden locks in a genie-like side pony. It was a supremely unforgettable red carpet look. Beyonce’s 2015 Met Gala dress was recreated by Missouri teen India Ross for prom, according to HelloGiggles, and it is just as stunning as the luxe original.

Ross, who is 18 and a budding fashionista, partnered with local designer Toi Hall, BuzzFeed reports. Together, they created an age-appropriate and gorgeous prom look inspired by Bey. That sort of ambition is what makes it so stunning. This is no arts and crafts project. This is serious fashion passion. Bustle has reached out to Ross for comment on her prom dress inspiration.

Ross, who plans to study fashion at college in the fall and eventually hopes to open her own boutique in St. Louis, according to BuzzFeed, seems to have used a less sheer, beige-hued material for the shell of the dress. Ultimately, Ross looked elegant and grown up. While she was copying Beyonce’s look, right down to that high pony, she owned it. She is proof that you can take celeb style inspo and translate it effectively.

Observe Ross and her Internet-slaying dress.

It’s lovely without being too see-through. It was probably the most unique dress at her prom.

Ross looks phenom and she looks like she knows it. These photos convey maj confidence, as they should.

Back on track.

Here’s a final look at the source of Ross’ inspo.

Clearly, Ross has a gift and she owned her Beyspiration. Here are 10 other Beyonce red carpet dresses from through the years that Ross could have totally replicated for prom. Or maybe she can tinker with these designs next time. She has the eye and the talent.

1. Met Gala 2014

Beyonce’s sheer, black Givenchy dress with a deep V in the front could be re-vamped for prom.

2. Met Gala 2012

Dimitrios Kambouris/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

Beyonce seems to have two Met Gala “signatures” and they are Givenchy gowns that have a sheer element. Her 2012 gown, with the purple, dip-dyed hem, would avail itself of a prom level revamp.

3. Grammys 2015

Jason Merritt/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

Black is a fashion-y color that many may not associate with a youthful event like prom. But throw those rules out the window. If you’re gonna go for it with Bey inspo for prom, then go for it. This lacy Proenza Schouler is “prommable.”

4. Grammys 2008

This silver and ice blue confection is insanely prom appropriate.

5. Oscars 2007

Frazer Harrison/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

The singer slayed this mint green, Armani Prive gown at the 2007 Oscars. It’s simple with pretty embellishment and a budding designer like Ross could go to town during the recreation process and perhaps add her own modern flourishes?

Life Is But A Dream Premiere 2013

This gilded, glittering Elie Saab column dress is another frock worthy of a prom translation. It’s ladylike.

7. MTV VMAs 2014

Jason Merritt/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

This long-sleeved and beaded Nicolas Jerban dress is deceptively simple. It’s so flattering and I’d love to see a creative teen like Ross get her hands on it.

8. MTV VMAs 2005

Evan Agostini/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

Silver sparkle! This thin strapped silver gown, which Beyonce rocked at the 2005 MTV VMAs, is way deserving of a prom edit.

9. MTV VMAs 2015

Jason Merritt/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

This maroon, clingy and curve-hugging Zuhair Murad dress in a column shape is unique. Ross didn’t play it safe in replicating the 2015 Met Gala look. Therefore, this dress would be a daring choice to “promify” because it’s somewhat simple and not too, too frilly, which prom frocks can often be!

10. AMAs 2007

At the 2007 American Music Awards, Beyonce poured her curves into a golden, strapless, fishtail frock. I bet Ross could totally have her way with this mermaid design, too.

Beyoncé always makes a statement at the Met Gala, but her 2015 look—you know, the nude Givenchy with crystals placed just so—made a lasting impression on one St. Louis teen. Mashable and several other outlets shared photos posted by a one Ms. India Ross, whose prom dress saluted her style icon.

Ross knew that she needed something sparkling and nude after seeing Bey’s famous look. So, she tapped a local designer, Toi Hall, to create a similar style. The pair spent months crafting a bejeweled gown.

The look ultimately went for $800, but that’s a small price to pay for going viral. The 18-year-old landed an interview in US Weekly, and remarked: “I never thought that taking pictures at my prom would just blow up overnight.”

But, on her own Instagram page Ross made one thing known. “Let’s make this clear I do not think I’m Beyoncé but she’s my inspiration […] I still look so god damn fine in my Walmart,” she wrote in an Instagram caption. In summation: Ross doesn’t always wear $800 dresses.

But when she does, she slays.

In 2015, Beyonce made everyone’s jaws drop when she showed up to the Met Gala in a sequin Givenchy “naked” dress, rocking an epically high ponytail. It was seriously stunning. A year later and we’re all still drooling over it.

India Ross, a high school senior from St. Louis, loved it too, and chose Bey’s dress as inspo for her prom this year. And she NAILED it.

Because this is the ~Internet~,  India has received some hate for her look, with some people saying that her dress looked like a “cheap knock-off” and not exactly like Beyonce’s because Bey’s was “more see-through.

” Well, yeah, but it’s called inspiration! It’s not like she was going to buy the Givenchy dress for prom.

India herself took to Insta to address the hate, saying: “The fact that people think I let ignorance ruin me, let’s make this clear, I do not think I’m Beyoncé but she’s my inspiration. I think somebody is confused on an inspiration. Just because she has on a #Givenchy dress [doesn’t] mean [I’m] supposed to have a million dollar dress on. I still look so god damn fine in my Walmart, eBay, Michaels, cheap looking #givenchy dress 😘👑🐝 #islay I sure hell did a good job. Give credit when due #crownus #blackmagic And you’re never [going to] find a pony NAILED as mine #prom2k16 please save all your negative comments off my page 💗”

SO WELL SAID. We bet Beyonce totally approves.

UPDATE, May 17, 2016: The ponytail was courtesy of hairstylist Teddi Jennings, and the dress was designed by Toi Hall of Toi Box Couture.

Beyonce Met Gala Dress: High School Girl Recreates For Prom

There’s only one way to describe Beyoncé fan India Ross’ prom dress: flawless. The 18-year-old St. Louis, Missouri high school student created a DIY version of the

Lemonade singer’s sheer and jewel-encrusted Givenchy gown for the 2015 Met Gala and it basically won the Internet.

Ross told Cosmopolitan that she wanted to make a dress that would help her channel Queen Bey. “When I gave my designer my money I said, ‘Can you make me feel like I’m Beyoncé?’” Ross said. “And that’s what she did.”

To create her viral sensation of a dress, Ross and a local designer, Toi Hall, worked together to recreate the gown using materials from stores like Walmart and Michael’s; she later completed the look with the same high ponytail that Bey rocked on the Met Gala red carpet.

Ross also told Cosmo that she has ambitions to work in the fashion industry and would like to open her own business and become a celebrity stylist.

Beyonce Homecoming documentary: Why do her clothes go from yellow to pink? | Films | Entertainment

Beyonce’s Homecoming documentary on Netflix follows her incredible rehearsal process for her iconic 2018 Coachella performance. Queen Bee made five costume changes, all of which were custom-made by Balmain’s Olivier Rousting. Her outfit changes even went so far as to change her nail polish colour. One item of clothing viewers can’t get their head around is the jumper she wore for songs such as Crazy in Love, Formation, and Freedom. Thankfully, there is more Beyonce content to come on Netflix, after she signed a three-project deal with the global streaming service.

Why do Beyonce’s clothes go from yellow to pink in the Homecoming documentary?

Beyonce’s clothes do not change colour in the Homecoming documentary on Netflix.

The two-hour long film documents her intensive rehearsal process before her big comeback show at Coachella music festival 2018 – also known as Beychella – following a two-year break from the spotlight.

Coachella took place over two weekends in April 2018, with Beyonce headlining both weekends.

Although the set, choreography and the costumes were very similar over both weekends, Beyonce distinctively wore two different coloured jumpers across the two performances.

On the first weekend, she wore a bright yellow jumper and the second weekend wore the same jumper but in hot pink.

The front of both jumpers had the logo ‘BAK’ written on the front.

The A was replaced by the Greek sign for Delta, which means change.

Beyonce never did clarify what BAK actually meant but fans were quick to offer some explanations.

B is the first letter of her name, the Delta symbol is the fourth letter of the alphabet which all Beyonce fans will know that four is her favourite number.

K is also the first letter of her maiden name, Knowles.

Others noticed the logo’s similarities to HBCU sorority houses who use Greek letters, so Beyonce may have made her own sorority house for the performance.

HBCU stands for Historically Black Colleges and Universities that were established before the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for African-American students.

In Greek, this would mean her sorority house would be called Beta Delta Kappa.

Beyonce’s backing band also had the same logo printed on their bright yellow outfits.

The singer paired both jumpers with a pair of high-waisted light blue denim jeans and Christian Louboutin knee-high boots with sparkly tassels.

Beyonce’s set included a lot of her old hits and performances of her latest album Lemonade, which addressed the cheating scandal surrounding her husband Jay Z.

The 37-year-old was the first Black woman to ever headline Coachella and her performance celebrated HBCUs, feminism, activism and the African-American community.

The yellow outfits were significant as they resembled a half time show at any historically black college and university.

Speaking in the documentary, Beyonce spoke about how she met with Rousteing several times to create her costumes with references to African-American culture.

Wearing the hoodie, Beyonce honoured black culture in her performance, playing an excerpt from Maclom X’s 1962 ‘Who Taught You to Hate Yourself speech’ and also sang Lift Every Voice and Sing, which is considered the black national anthem in America.

Beyonce also sampled Nina Simone’s ‘Lilac Wine’ whilst wearing the jumper.

Last year, you could purchase the hoodie itself with all proceeds going to the United Negro College Fund.

Following the release of the documentary on Netflix this month, this week Beyonce released a live album titled Homecoming and made her 2016 lemonade available on Spotify and Apple Music.

Beyoncé at the 2016CFDA Awards.

Beyoncé was awarded the Fashion Icon award at the 2016 CFDA Awards, which are pretty much the Oscars of the fashion world.

The actress/singer/entrepreneur made a surprise appearance at the event to receive the award, and gave a heartfelt acceptance speech. In it, she spoke about the influence fashion has had on her life, dating back to when her grandmother picked up work as a seamstress so she could afford to send Beyoncé’s mother to Catholic school.

Beyoncé also talked about her mother’s outsized impact on her career through fashion. After countless design houses refused to dress Destiny’s Child, “My mother and my Uncle Jonny designed all of our first costumes and made each piece by hand…individually sewing hundreds of crystals and pearls…putting so much passion and love into every small detail,” the singer said.

And it wasn’t just those early outfits. “My mother designed my wedding dress, the dress I wore when I won my first Grammy,” Beyoncé said.

Read the full acceptance speech below (via CFDA):

Thank you Diane. It’s such an honor to receive this award from you.

You know, as long as I can remember, fashion has been a part of my life. It’s effect on me actually started before I was born.

My grandmother was a seamstress. My grandparents didn’t have much money and couldn’t afford my mother’s Catholic School. So my grandmother sewed clothes for the priests and nuns, and uniforms for the students, in exchange for my mother’s education.

She then passed this gift down to my mother and taught her how to sew.

When we were starting out in Destiny’s Child, high-end labels didn’t want to dress four black country girls. We couldn’t afford designer dresses. My mom was rejected from every showroom in New York.

But like my grandmother, she used her talent and creativity to give her children their dreams. My mother and my Uncle Jonny designed all of our first costumes and made each piece by hand…individually sewing hundreds of crystals and pearls…putting so much passion and love into every small detail. And when I wore these clothes onstage, I felt like I had an extra suit of armor. It was so much deeper than any brand name…my mother and my uncle and my grandmother were with me…I couldn’t fail.

My mother designed my wedding dress, the dress I wore when I won my first Grammy…the list goes on and on…

This to me is the true power and potential of fashion. It’s a tool for finding your own identity, expression, and strength. It transcends style and is a time capsule of our greatest milestones.

So to my mother, my uncle, and my Grandma, I just want to say thank you.

Thank you for showing me that having a presence is more than the clothes you wear or your physical beauty. Thank you for showing me how to never take no for an answer. Thank you for showing me how to take risks, work hard, and live life on my own terms.

And I want to say thank you to every designer that works tirelessly to make people feel like they can write their own story. You are fairy godmothers, magicians, sculptures…sometimes even therapists.

I encourage you to not forget this power that you have or take it lightly. We have an opportunity to contribute to a society where any girl can look at a billboard or a magazine cover and see her reflection. Soul has no color, no shape, no form…just like all of your work, it goes so far beyond what the eye can see. You have the power to change perception, to inspire and empower…to show people how to embrace their complications and flaws to see the true beauty and strength that’s inside all of us.

Thank you.

The history of the Grammy: how the images of the stars changed on the red carpet

On the night of January 29, the winners of the 2018 Grammy Awards will be announced. Like all ceremonies, this one is also remembered not only by the laureates, bright moments and scandals, but also by the carpet path on which celebrities, before taking a seat in the hall, pose for photographers and show their images – bright, stylish, sometimes too extravagant, and sometimes even too frank.SPLETNIK.RU decided to remember how the Grammy nominees looked at their first and last music awards.

Taylor Swift: 2008 and 2016

In 2008, Taylor Swift was 19 years old. However, the singer’s outfit was quite consistent with her age and could well be suitable for a prom. In general, her whole image turned out to be very romantic – in a lilac dress to the floor and with curled hair, Taylor looked like a Barbie doll.

In 2016, we saw a completely different Taylor – stylish, sexy and even a little cheeky.Wearing a short top and a skirt with a large slit, she not only showed that she had matured noticeably, but also showed her athletic figure to the envy of many.

Lady Gaga: 2010 and 2017

The appearance of Lady Gaga at such events was always accompanied by shocking and extraordinary outfits. Has her style changed in any way since the first Grammy Awards? Probably not. Unless last year her image turned out to be too frank and, in the opinion of many, also tasteless.

Beyonce: 2004 and 2017

Beyoncé, the owner of beautiful hips and curvaceous forms, always knew how to competently pay attention to her merits. In 2004, she chose a long golden dress that accentuated her feminine figure, and in 2017 she came to the Grammy while pregnant and did not give up the tight outfit. The dress embroidered with red sequins became one of the brightest outfits of that evening.

Rihanna: 2007 and 2017

Fashion critics are also waiting for the appearance of this star on the red carpet with great interest – which outfit Rihanna chooses is perhaps no less intriguing than who will be the winner. Of course, she is a great fashionista, she always follows trends, however, there were also fashion failures in her career. In 2007, the singer came to the ceremony in a green flowing dress to the floor, complementing her look with a lot of accessories. And last year, the star appeared on the red carpet of the award in an orange top and black fluffy skirt.

Selena Gomez: 2011 and 2016

This American singer has practically not changed in five years: the same elegant dress, except this time brighter, loose hair and impeccable appearance.Modestly and tastefully – this is about her.

Jennifer Lopez: 1999 and 2017

In 1999, J. Lo opted for a golden mini dress with a slit at the thigh, and in 2017, a long lilac dress. However, and this time she again showed her hips – dresses with cuts (and cutouts too), the star respects very much.

Adele: 2009 and 2017

Since her first appearance at the Grammy, Adele’s style has changed slightly. She has become more elegant and noticeably thinner. And, it seems, in eight years, the singer also changed her makeup artist – instead of her hair, as if hastily tucked into a ponytail, she showed a beautiful high hairstyle.

Miley Cyrus: 2008 and 2015

What a transformation! Having repainted from brunette to blonde and made a short haircut, Miley Cyrus clearly made a very right decision – now she looks much more stylish and modern. And the dress she showed in 2015 clearly indicates that her taste has changed a lot, and for the better.

Katy Perry: 2009 and 2017

This is exactly the case when “before” was better. In 2009, Katy Perry was a brunette and opted for a pink dress with a large flower at the waist. The image turned out to be very gentle and sweet. But last year, blonde Perry showed off a rather strange outfit, appearing at the ceremony in a dress, the top of which was made in the form of a shiny elongated blouse, and the bottom was a cascading feather skirt.

Nicki Minaj: 2011 and 2015

Apparently, in 2011, the animal print was very popular with Nicki Minaj – she came to the ceremony in leopard leggings, a dress and even gloves. And having complemented the image with bright makeup and original fleece, she definitely became one of the most shockingly dressed stars of the award. The image shown by the singer in 2015 was very different from her debut appearance at the Grammy black dress with a deep neckline , slicked hair and discreet makeup this time looked much more appropriate.

Madonna: 1999 and 2017

In 1999, Madonna clearly went to the gym too often – her biceps would probably be the envy of many men. However, judging by the fact that the singer came to the ceremony in a white T-shirt, which only emphasized her muscles, she was proud of her sporting successes. Lilac loose trousers gave her a little femininity. In 2017, she shocked the public with her weird and revealing Givenchy outfit when she showed off her buttocks.

Britney Spears: 2000 and 2017

In 2000, Britney Spears loved white and elegant luxury. For 17 years, her style has undergone significant changes – last year she came to the ceremony in a short translucent dress.

Justin Bieber: 2010 and 2016

This Canadian singer has grown not only professionally in six years. Justin Bieber did a good job on his appearance. Changing his teenage hairstyle for a stylish men’s haircut and becoming blond, Bieber appeared at the 2016 Grammy Awards in a total black look and looked very stylish.

Mariah Carey: 1991 and 2006

The velvet short black dress that Mariah Carey wore at the 1991 Grammy Awards doesn’t look old-fashioned 27 years later.Modest and elegant, it looked great on the singer. Alas, in 2006 she could no longer afford such outfits and came to the ceremony in a dress to the floor.

Cher : 1974 and 2008

Cher’s outfit, shown by her at the Grammy ceremony in 1974, looked more like a beach one – she wore a transparent cape over a white bikini. And in order to add a little solemnity to the image, the star decorated her outfit and hair with large brooches in the form of butterflies. The dress she wore to the 2008 Grammy was no less strange – the swamp-colored outfit and the cape with large holes on top of it looked rather ridiculous.

Whitney Houston: 1986 and 2009

In 1986, Whitney Houston opted for a rather simple and not quite formal turquoise dress, which can be worn in everyday life. And in 2009 she appeared at the Grammy in a very beautiful long dress in blue and white and looked just perfect.

Kanye West: 2005 and 2015

The elegant white suit that Kanye wore to the 2005 Grammy Awards ten years later changed to a glamorous velvet outfit. By the way, he refused the shirt altogether and put the jacket on his naked body.

Justin Timberlake: 2002 and 2013

In 2002, Justin Timberlake was still quite young, and therefore the image he showed at the Grammy was very childish. In 2013, he already knew a lot about fashion and came to the ceremony in an elegant suit, shirt and bow tie.

Gwen Stefani: 1997 and 2015

In 1997, Gwen Stefani was apparently inspired by Asian culture – she came to the ceremony in a dress that closely resembles a kimono. And in 2015, she chose a black jumpsuit with a corset of an unusual cut.

Kylie Minogue: 2003 and 2007

The images of Kylie Minogue, shown to her at the Grammy in 2003 and 2007, turned out to be quite romantic.Natural makeup, delicate colors and styles of dresses, as well as a constant smile on her face are the distinctive features of Kylie’s style.
