Best tinted moisturiser for dry skin: Best tinted moisturisers | 15 top formulas to try this summer

Best tinted moisturisers | 15 top formulas to try this summer

In the current climate, the contents of our make-up bags are undeniably shifting – and tinted moisturisers look set to become a cornerstone.

As we look ahead to a diary of intimate gatherings and low-key events, a full face of foundation feels stifling – there is little place for heavy formulas or complex techniques in our newly reduced make-up routines. What’s more, as the lines between skincare and make-up continue to blur, everything on our shrinking shelves must offer multi-faceted benefits: now, a foundation that offers little more than a mask seems old fashioned.

This shift in thinking has opened the floor to a new school of tinted moisturisers: hybrid products that offer pollution shields, sun protection and skin-conditioning benefits alongside a veil of unifying, brightening coverage – not to mention, crucially, skin that still looks like skin.

Here, see the Bazaar team’s top tinted moisturisers for a lighter look – and a lighter make-up bag.

The best tinted moisturisers for all skin types and tones

Golden Cell Rejuvenating Priming Moisturizer

Victoria Beckham Beauty

Victoria Beckham’s stellar cell-boosting moisturiser now comes in a tinted version, and it delivers the most beautifully radiant finish. The suits-all bronze pigment is glowy, rather than glittery, so you’re left with a unified and luminous complexion.

Even better, Augustinus Bader’s revolutionary cell-rejuvenating complex means your skin will look better the more you wear it.

Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30/PA+++

A cult classic, Nars’ tinted moisturiser is now available in a wider range of shades. It boasts SPF30 alongside protective antioxidants, and provides significant coverage without caking.

An all-round winner.

Skin Paradise Tinted Moisturiser

L’Oreal Paris

This water-based formula is loaded with glycerin to deliver the most dewy, mega-hydrated finish. It’s ideal for those no make-up days, and comes with a pleasingly small price tag, too. The pigment will warm your complexion, but coverage is minimal, so pair it with a good concealer.

BFF SPF 30 Cream

Trinny London

Trinny Woodall’s phenomenally popular BFF cream is loved for its multitasking powers: this single product acts as your moisturiser, sun protection and skin tint.

The cream appears white at first pump, but transforms on application as the encapsulated pigments burst, creating bright, dewy coverage that never settles into fine lines or pores.

Perfecting Skin Tint

Glossier £20

Embodying the Glossier philosophy, this light-as-water skin perfector delivers ‘you, but better’ skin in seconds. Coverage is, of course, minimal, but if you’re after hydration as well as a visible glow boost, look no further.

Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+

IT Cosmetics

There are several reasons why people rave about this cult hero. Firstly, there’s the coverage: high enough to convert even the most loyal foundation users, yet never dry or cakey. Then, there’s the wide-reaching shade range. And finally, proper broad-spectrum SPF50 protection: leagues ahead of the token SPF usually found in make-up.

If you’re prone to congestion, consider the Oil-Free Matte iteration, and if you like a luminous, lightly glimmering effect, opt for the Illumination formula.

Dewy Skin Glass Glow Tint

Ciaté London

Ciaté may be a brand with glitter in its DNA, but it knows exactly what women want to wear right now. The latest addition to its excellent Dewy collection, this skin tint delivers significant coverage (more than most tinted moisturisers) alongside deep hydration and a sublime glow that truly lasts all day. Consider it ‘glass’ skin in a tube.

Radiate Beauty Balm SPF15

If you’re after that luminous, just-had-a-facial effect, nothing comes closer than this under-the-radar gem. The balmy formula feels instantly refreshing on skin, but delivers light coverage that’ll disguise imperfections and skim over dark circles with ease.

Don’t rest on the SPF15 (you’ll still need a higher-factor sunscreen beneath), but when it comes to a glowing finish, this one wins.

Super Healthy Skin™ Sheer Tinted Oil-Free SPF20

Beauty Pie

One of many brilliant base products from Beauty Pie, this tinted moisturiser is designed with oily and breakout-prone complexions in mind, and hydrates without feeling heavy.

It’s sheer enough to keep freckles on show, yet radiant enough to disguise dark circles: the perfect balance.

Tinted Moisturiser Oil Free Natural Skin Perfector

Laura Mercier

New launches might be arriving at an increasing speed, but this long-loved classic remains one of the best.

Loved for years (and recently repackaged) Laura Mercier’s oil-free tinted moisturiser will control shine and oil production while unifying the skin and boosting radiance. It’s an effortless, one-and-done choice for easy make-up days.

Just Skin Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15

A truly luxe option, Chantecaille’s tinted moisturiser is boosted with plant-derived antioxidants and moisture-grabbing humectants to keep skin feeling supple all day long. The coverage is just heavy enough to mask redness and dark circles: simply call on a concealer to cover any blemishes, and you’ll have mastered that coveted ‘no make-up’ look.

Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturiser

Not just for sensitive skin, this one is an all-round winner. The lightweight gel-cream boosts hydration without calling on oils (ideal for the easily congested), while the 20-strong shade range fully hits the mark. There’s even SPF30 to keep you protected during the day.

Sheer Healthy Glow Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30

Best for oilier skin, Chanel’s classic Les Beiges tinted moisturiser contains mineral pigments and blurring powders to absorb oil and unify the complexion.

Millennialskin On-the-Glow Tinted Moisturiser

Dolce & Gabbana

This is the most luminous and lightweight product in Dolce & Gabbana’s complexion portfolio, and it’s definitely one to try. The coverage is moderate, and the radiant finish makes skin look bright and glowing. It even contains SPF 30.

Stripped Nude Skin Tint

Kevyn Aucoin

Kevyn Aucoin’s latest launch really taps into the demand for glossy, glass-like skin. Stripped Nude Skin Tint has an extra-light, almost gel-like texture that doesn’t dry or settle, instead imparting a light-reflecting glow that lasts all day.  It won’t cover angry blemishes, but it will skim over pigmentation and rough texture, leaving skin looking even.

13 Best Tinted Moisturisers 2021

Photo-Illustration: Courtesy of the retailer.

The perfect tinted moisturiser should hide blemishes, pigmentation, and acne scars, as well as provide hydration and SPF. But with so many to choose from — including CC and BB creams, which are part of the same beauty family — and a wide range of price points, finding the right product can be a challenge.

Use a tinted moisturiser if you’re looking for lighter coverage than a foundation and extra hydration, although most also contain ingredients to tackle other skin concerns such as wrinkles and fine lines. BB (beauty balm) creams are for those who suffer from blemishes and spots, as they aim to reduce and hide redness, and offer more coverage than a tinted moisturiser. CC (colour-correcting) creams are for anyone with hyperpigmentation or dark spots, as they work to even out your skin tone.

To help, we spoke to eight experts, ranging from makeup artists to dermatologists, to get their tinted moisturiser recommendations. Here are their top picks, including the best vegan offering and the best one for sensitive skin.

Four of our expert panel recommend Laura Mercier as their go-to brand for tinted moisturisers. The Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturiser has been a kit staple for years for international makeup artist duo Pamela and Andrea. “If you’re looking for a lightweight, hydrating tinted moisturiser that looks like real skin, then this is the one. It blurs imperfections and doesn’t sit in lines or attach itself onto dry skin.” Consultant dermatologist and author of The Skincare Bible, Dr. Anjali Mahto agrees and also recommends this one for its SPF 20 sun protection. “Finding the perfect tinted moisturiser depends on your skin type because not one size fits all,” she explains. “Dry, sensitive and oily skin types all need different skin care.” It comes in 15 shades, too, making it easy to find one to match your skin tone.

Meanwhile, New York–based makeup artist and beauty influencer Jezz Hill likes the Laura Mercier natural skin perfector with SPF 30. She’s a fan “for its wide range of shades and skin-care properties” and says that “it’s great for dry skin, although it works wonderfully on all skin types, and leaves a natural dewy finish. ” Emily Wood, a London-based makeup artist and influencer, also says it gives “a healthy glow with a perfect amount of sheer coverage.” This one comes in 20 shades, from Petal to Cacao.

London fashion and lifestyle blogger Kristabel Plummer discovered NARS when she couldn’t find a BB cream to match her skin tone. “I had to find cleverly worded alternatives,” she explains. The NARS pure radiant tinted moisturiser “feels like you’re barely wearing anything. I love this for lazy makeup days, infrequent British heatwaves and quickly evening out my skin tone.” Mahto, who has used NARS products for years, adds that it “provides a great level of coverage for acne and pigmentation.” She also emphasises why it’s important to have SPF in your moisturiser: “We know that sun exposure is responsible for around 80 percent of the factors we associate with premature skin ageing — think fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation. ” The oil-free formula gives a dewy finish, while also including hydrating botanical ingredients to give your skin a well-deserved boost.

Kristabel also recommends the NARS velvet matte skin tint, as it helps to “reduce shine, especially on sunny days, without making you look like you’re caked in product.” She adds: “I’ve received so many compliments on Instagram stories when wearing this, plus it contains a much-needed SPF of 30. I wear the shade Polynesia and, although it appears darker at first glance, somehow it blends seamlessly into my skin tone.”

If you can afford to spend (a lot) more, celebrity facialist and skin-care expert Michaella Bolder (whose clients include Nick Grimshaw, Dame Helen Mirren, and Frankie Bridge, to name a few) recommends luxury beauty brand La Mer’s tinted moisturiser. This lightweight formula gives a long-lasting luminous finish and helps protect skin against pollution and sun damage. She notes that “oily and combination skin should opt for an oil-free solution, while dry skin would benefit from a richer consistency. Mature skin needs a mineral base or powder form.” She singles out the ingredients of algae and seaweed, as well as the brand’s “miracle” broth, which means it’s packed with skin-care benefits and essential vitamins that “hydrate and balance the skin while giving it even coverage.” The shade range is disappointing (only five) but it is suitable for all skin types.

Michaella also offers a budget-friendly alternative from The Ordinary. This serum foundation “is a fantastic and super-affordable liquid that, when chosen in the light form, acts as a matte, tinted moisturiser, which is great for all skin types,” explains Bolder. “There are no particular skin-care benefits but there are a large selection of colours to suit most, if not all, skin tones.” There are 21 shades available and the serum formula also means it doesn’t sit in fine lines or look cakey.

“We love Glossier for all of the amazing skin-care benefits packed into each product. This one is hypoallergenic, non-settling, nonirritating, paraben-free, fragrance-free and cruelty-free”, say Pamela and Andrea. “It gives you that no-makeup makeup look and you’re left with a youthful, dewy finish that will enhance your natural colouring.” The shade range is inclusive too, add the makeup artists — there are 12 shades to pick from.

Both makeup artists Gina Blondell and Emily Wood agree that NYX’s skin veil gives a beautiful satin finish, while also keeping skin hydrated for up to eight hours. “If you’re after affordable medium-coverage tinted moisturiser, this one is for you,” explains Gina. “The vegan formula is buildable and effective at evening out skin tone and hiding blemishes.” She recommends it to anyone who usually prefers full coverage but is looking for a slightly more natural-looking option. “The breathable formula works on all complexions and is also well-suited to anyone with sensitive or problematic skin, as it is noncomedogenic.” Ingredients include soothing cucumber extract and aloe vera, while applying with a brush or blending with a sponge gives best results. Wood also champions the “12 forgiving shades that have been formulated to accommodate a wide range of skin tones.”

Blondel says Pür’s tinted moisturiser “offers a light coverage and leaves the skin feeling soft and supple, thanks to the ingredients of aloe vera and chamomile. ” It’s not just a tinted moisturiser though, as it works as a primer and contains SPF, which makes it ideal for holidays and weekends away when you don’t want to weigh down your suitcase with multiple products. Vitamin E and retinol also help tackle fine lines and wrinkles. Gina recommends it for dry skin but the sheer finish means any skin type will look radiant using it.

This one’s pricey but Hill recommends it for anyone with sensitive skin, as it’s free from parabens, fragrances, and other chemicals while also containing SPF. It’s excellent at smoothing the appearance of lines and wrinkles with its sheer coverage, too. Blondell also recommends it for sensitive skin and says, “Its smooth, velvet-like finish is infused with lots of dreamy natural ingredients like honeysuckle, thyme and butterfly bush extract to give anti-pollution benefits. ” The makeup artist adds: “This is a great product for anyone living in the city and I always recommend it to clients, particularly those with normal to oily complexions. It leaves the skin without any residue and evens out the tone of skin whilst covering any light blemishes.”

Tropic’s ethos is to create sustainably sourced and cruelty-free products that are made from natural ingredients where possible. And Hill recommends its sheer foundation for adding “a hint of glowy goodness to your skin.” She adds: “Tropic is continually exploring ways to become more sustainable, from the ingredients that go into its products to the packaging that houses them. All products are 100 per cent vegan, too.”

22 Best Tinted Moisturizers To Buy In 2021 For a Natural Glow

With the no makeup-makeup look back in the spotlight, there’s never been a better time to give one of the best tinted moisturizers a try. Much lighter than foundation—and more low-maintenance too, since they’re a cinch to apply—the best tinted moisturizers offer just enough coverage to even out your skin tone without opting for a full face of makeup. Consider them an easy way to get a glow.

“Tinted moisturizer is a great alternative for people who don’t want to wear foundation or just want something light and airy on the skin,” explains Nour Agha, a YSL Beauty National Makeup Artist. The moisturizer-first, coverage-second approach can really do wonders for taking your skin from red, dull, or uneven to looking like you tried (without having to actually do much). It’s a multi-tasking wonder worker that blurs blemishes and makes skin have a really natural-looking radiance.

But, there’s more to look for in a tinted moisturizer than just flawless coverage. Sejal Shah, M.D., a dermatologist practicing in New York City, says you should also look for antioxidants to counter any environmental damage, SPF to protect against the sun, hyaluronic acid to plump up skin, glycerin to moisturize, and niacinamide to reduce pore size. And PSA: If you’re someone with a darker skin tone, you should always go for tinted moisturizer shades that have beige or golden undertones.

Need a little help shopping? Ahead, find the best tinted moisturizers according to makeup artists and editors.

The 21 Best Tinted Moisturisers For Every Skin Type

If you can count on one hand the number of times you’ve worn heavy-duty foundation this year, know that you’re not alone. But now that summer is on the horizon and the world is (whisper it) starting to open up, it’s likely you might want some sort of glow-inducing coverage – even if you’re only venturing to your local park, rather than a Balearic beach.

Enter, the tinted moisturiser. As you know, this beauty buy is a multi-tasking wonder that offers a low-maintenance approach to your everyday make-up look. Right now, the sheer formulas are spiking in popularity: According to data from Google Trends, UK searches for the term are currently the highest they’ve ever been.

The reason? Their hydration-first, coverage-second ethos means you can quickly blur blemishes, banish dullness or hide unevenness whilst still letting your skin breathe. Think of these as more of a ‘glowdation’, if you will.

Just more thing. There’s more to look for in a tinted moisturiser than just coverage. Specific ingredients will quell specific skincare concerns, such as niacinamide to reduce pore size, hyaluronic acid to plump and SPF to ward off UV rays. (Not that this means you can scrimp on your actual SPF – you still need it. Soz.)

Need a little help shopping? Scroll on to find the best tinted moisturisers for your skin type.

Is BB cream or tinted moisturiser better?

This depends on what you’re after. A BB (beauty balm) cream is a mix of more ingredients – think: primer, SPF, perhaps anti-ageing elements. A tinted moisturiser tends to offer more in way of coverage and hydration.

Which is the best tinted moisturiser?

There are heaps of top-quality tinted moisturisers out there. The best for you is going to depend on your specific skincare goals and skin type.

Scroll on for the WH edit of the one to use, depending on what you’re after.

1. Best overall tinted moisturiser

Excelling for long-lasting coverage and brimming with a host of impressive skincare benefits this all-in-one provides all the coverage and hydration you would ever need in one tube. You can use it daily as a tinted moisturizer or as part of a more layered foundation routine.

The best tinted moisturiser for mature skin

Created specifically for mature skin types, the formula glides across skin to smooth out any fine (or not so fine) lines. A potent dose of antioxidants helps to stop skin damage in its tracks so that your complexion looks more even and brighter over time.

Estée Lauder DayWear Sheer Tint Release Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Moisturiser SPF15, 50ml

Estée Lauder

3. The best tinted moisturiser for a subtle tint

This is about as lightweight as it gets, so is perfect for days when you want to achieve a barely-there, ‘more skin, less makeup’ look. Basically, it’s meant to let your freckles shine through.

Perfecting Skin Tint

The best tinted moisturiser for stressed skin

This has become something of a cult product in a really short space of time. The reason? It’s packed with a stress-busting ingredient called neurophroline that works to tackle the short and long-term effects of cortisol, a stress hormone that can wreak havoc on your skin. An added dose of hyaluronic acid also provides long-lasting hydration that plumps and smooths for a dewy finish.

19 Best Tinted Moisturisers 2021 For Light, Glowy Coverage

Nothing screams health like fresh, dewy skin – and the easiest way to achieve that glowy look is with a tinted moisturiser. After spending much of the past 18 months with bare faces, more of us are catching onto the no-makeup makeup vibe of late, and a lightweight, hydrating tinted moisturiser fits the bill.

A tinted moisturiser’s main job is to hydrate and provide coverage of any blemishes. As the name suggests, it’s a day cream and foundation hybrid. Suitable for most skin types, tinted moisturisers are designed to hit that “in-between” spot between your regular moisturiser and a full-coverage foundation – similar to a CC cream or BB cream. If you look at it from another perspective, it’s a skin boosting moisturiser that just so happens to even out your complexion with a beautiful hint of colour. Think of your tinted moisturiser as a best-of-both-worlds crowd pleaser.

The best foundations out there for all levels of coverage and skin types

But within the same category, there are plenty of options so that you can find a formula that fits your skin type and your favourite makeup look. Tinted moisturisers are a sliding scale: some offer more coverage; some offer more high-tech skincare.

Some contain SPF30 for sun protection, some contain hyaluronic acid for the hydration of dry skin and others are good for sensitive skin. Elsewhere, you’ll find tinted moisturisers with vitamin C or tinted moisturisers with collagen to aid in anti-ageing. The Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Tinted Moisturiser has spf15 plus nourishing ingredients to serve up a plump, radiant finish – making it great for mature skin – while the Clarins Hydra Quench Tinted Moisturiser contains a hyaluronic acid complex and katafray bark extract which work together to leave your skin soft, supple and smooth.

And while they’re breezy, the pigment pay-off can be surprisingly good. You can ace a barely-there wash of sheer warmth with a lotion like Chanel’s Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint, which does nothing more than even out skin tone with a hint of water-based coverage. Alternatively, you can dial up your coverage for cancelling out redness and low-core spots with Kevyn Aucoin’s Stripped Nude Skin Tint or the oil-free Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser. For areas that need more coverage, there’s always concealer.

The 15 best concealers for erasing blemishes and brightening under-eyes

Whichever tinted moisturiser you choose, these far-from-matte products are perfect for those of us who don’t like heavy coverage. In celebration of these moisturising, brightening, sun protection-serving, antioxidant-packed wonder products, we’ve curated an edit of tinted moisturiser bestsellers to add to your wishlist, from the likes of NARS, Charlotte Tilbury, Bareminerals, Clinique, it Cosmetics and Bobbi Brown. 90,000 rating of the 17 best tools, how to choose and how to use

Properties of foundations for dry skin

You will immediately recognize dry skin: it is thin, vulnerable, often dull due to lack of moisture, prone to early formation of wrinkles. The lack of a hydrolipid layer is to blame for these features – in dry skin, it does not reliably retain moisture. So not only cosmetics for daily care, but also make-up products for dry skin are needed with a moisturizing effect.

The foundation is applied to the face for the whole day, which means that it should not only give the skin a beautiful shade and radiance, but also take care of it.

In addition to toning and masking imperfections, the ideal foundation for dry skin should have at least two other functions.

    • Humidification

Restoring moisture level and fixing it in the skin is a task for powerful moisturizing ingredients, so either read the composition on the product label carefully, or choose a cushion or BB cream right away. They imply quality hydration.

    • Power supply

If the skin suffers so much from dryness that it has changed its healthy shade to a pale grayish, most likely, it will not hurt a foundation for very dry skin – with nourishing oils in the composition.Such products are oily to the touch, but they do not leave an oily sheen.

Rating of the best foundation for the face

In our rating of tonal creams for dry skin, we have included products in different formats.

    BB and CC creams

Secret of Perfection Moisturizing BB-Face Cream, SPF 15, Garnier

“The requirements for a BB cream for dry skin must be special. The main thing to pay attention to is high-quality and effective moisturizing ingredients, including hyaluronic acid and glycerin. ”

Provides a make-up and care product at the same time as it nourishes the skin with moisture, brightens it with Vitamin C and protects it from UV rays throughout the day.

BB C’est Magic 5-in-1 face cream. Skin perfection “, L’Oréal Paris

The multifunctionality of the cream lies in its moisturizing, antioxidant, protective (SPF 20), leveling and toning properties. And all this – with a very light texture that melts into the skin and literally merges with it. Components: fig extract, vitamin E, panthenol, glycerin.

Moisturizing BB Cream for Face Dream Satin BB, Maybelline

BB Cream 8-in-1 for all skin types with SPF 30 hides imperfections, merges with skin tone and cares for it all day long. Contains glycerin, aloe, chamomile.

CC C’est Magic tonal color correcting cream, L’Oréal Paris

Lightweight coverage and light touch-up combined with powerful and long-lasting (24 hours) hydration. It also supports the skin’s UV protection with SPF 20 and has antioxidant benefits. Suitable for all skin types.

    Rosaliac CC Creme, La Roche-Posay

Foundation Alliance Perfect. Perfect fusion “, leveling, moisturizing, L’Oréal Paris

Tinted Moisturizer Skin Feels Good, Lancôme

Foundation with caring functions: moisturizing, nourishing and protection (SPF 23). By the way, it increases the level of skin hydration by more than 50% after 5 days of use. Not without moisture catchers – glycerin and hyaluronic acid.

Toning moisturizer for sensitive skin Toleriane Sensitive Le Teint, La Roche-Posay

This product easily combines two functions – it provides a sufficient toning effect and cares for the skin, soothes it and strengthens the protective barrier.

“A very pleasant cream, light, airy, evens and unifies skin tone, creates a translucent coating that looks natural. And the caring properties are beyond praise, with this cream the skin does not know any worries all day – calm, moisturized, radiant. Can be recommended as a good foundation for dry skin every day. True, in summer on sunny days you will have to apply Sanskrin on top – the product does not provide UV protection. ”

Correcting tonal fluid for concealing any skin imperfections Dermablend, Vichy

Thanks to its high pigment content, it carefully conceals everything that needs to be hidden, from pimples and scars to age spots and post-acne. At the same time, it has a light texture and is invisible on the skin.

    Miracle Cushion Compact Fluid, Lancôme

Cushion perfectly moisturizes the skin, instantly gives it a beautiful fresh tone, provides natural coverage.Protects from ultraviolet radiation. The compact package is convenient to carry in your purse to touch up your makeup throughout the day. Contains moisturizing glycerin.

How to choose a foundation for dry skin

“Dry skin often flakes, has many fine grooves,” says Alexandra Grebenyuk, make-up artist, training manager of Lancôme brand.- Capillaries often shine through it. Another problem is the lack of natural radiance. ” The foundation should neutralize all these imperfections. So how do you choose a foundation for dry skin?

Foundation for dry skin should have a moisturizing effect. © iStock

    Pay attention to the texture

The texture of the foundation for dry skin should be light, almost weightless, and pliable. This will allow it to distribute well and literally merge with the skin. These requirements are met by cushons, fluids and essences.

“Even if you need to ideally even out the tone for an evening out, it is better to layer a light product in several stages than to use a thick foundation,” advises Alexandra Grebenyuk.

Look for a shiny (satin) finish

Radiance is a must for dry skin. This “inner” glow will give it a well-groomed moisturized look. And shimmery particles and light-scattering pigments will help to visually level the relief.

Back to the table of contents

Composition of foundation for dry skin

In the richness of beneficial ingredients, modern foundations are quite capable of competing with skin care products. In particular, in foundations for dry skin, you will definitely find some of these substances, if not all at once.

    1. 1

Hydrofixers (glycerin, hyaluronic acid, aloe) – are responsible for increasing the level of moisture in the skin. And they also work on its smoothness, because the better the skin is hydrated, the better it is insured against the appearance of wrinkles.

    2. 2

Natural oils (apricot kernel, shea butter) provide softening, nourishment and ultimately radiance to the skin.

    3. 3

Vitamin E also contributes to the radiance of the skin, and also works as an antioxidant: it fights free radicals and thereby slows down aging.

    4. 4

Thermal water – a source of minerals and trace elements.

    5. 5

UV Filters are indispensable in foundations with a light texture that will come in handy in the summer. SPF prevents premature aging, prevents pigmentation.

    6. 6

Mineral, light-scattering, colored pigments give the foundation, and therefore the skin, the necessary shade and even out the complexion.

Back to the table of contents

    Application rules

“All movements when creating makeup should be neat and thoughtful,” says Alexandra Grebenyuk. And shares professional secrets and life hacks.

    1. 1

Foundation for dry, flaky skin is applied with smoothing movements from the center of the face to the periphery with a flat brush .

    2. 2

Alternatively use sponge (eg beauty blender). Distribute the product by pressing the sponge firmly against the skin. This will make the skin surface perfectly flat.

    3. 3

Another simple tip to create an even tone on dry skin: Before applying foundation, lightly dampen the sponge with water. The cream will be distributed in the thinnest layer, and the makeup will be as natural as possible.

    4. 4

Fine wrinkles often appear on dry skin. The double-bristled brush – duofiber will perfectly cope with their disguise. Its villi (most often two-colored) are sharpened by a laser, so it turns the cream into a weightless veil, distributes it in an even layer and, as it were, “polishes” the skin surface. In this case, the consumption of the cream is about three times less than usual.

Back to the table of contents

The principle of seasonality in the use of a foundation for dry skin

Use SPF and Moisturizing Foundation in Summer © iStock

The first thing any type of skin will need in sunny weather is UV protection as a prevention of photoaging, so do not compromise and leave only SPF tonal products in your cosmetic bag.

Now sunscreen filters are included in the formulas of many foundation products, especially BB and CC creams, as well as cushons.

And of course, do not forget that a foundation for dry skin should moisturize it.

“In the cold season, dry skin will need a foundation with the function of enhanced nutrition,” says Alexandra Grebenyuk. It will help preserve the hydrolipid mantle and protect the skin from the effects of aggressive environmental factors:

    • sharp temperature drops;

    • dry air in rooms with central heating;

    • frosty winds.

In cold weather Alexandra recommends adding a drop of cosmetic oil to the foundation. And of course, do not forget to thoroughly cleanse and moisturize your skin before applying makeup.

Once or twice a week, it is worth using exfoliating agents – then the skin will be even and retain the ability to renew itself, and the tone will lie flawlessly.

Back to the table of contents

Rules for dry skin make-up removal

In order to guarantee to remove the foundation from dry skin and at the same time not to deprive it of its comfort, it is better to carry out the cleansing procedure in several stages.

    1. 1

Warm up some milk for makeup remover or cleansing cream in your palms.

    2. 2

Spread the product over the face, avoiding the eye area. Instead of cream and milk, you can use micellar water, micellar gel, and hydrophilic oil.

    3. 3

Massage the skin with light circular movements, moving from the center of the face to the periphery, – this way the product will more effectively dissolve decorative cosmetics.

    4. 4

Remove residual cleaning agent with a cotton pad.

    5. 5

Wash with a mild product: mousse or special cream for washing dry skin.

Back to the table of contents 90,000 Foundation for dry skin: TOP 11 best moisturizing tones

    Anastasia Miretskaya

Knowing how to choose the right foundation is a real art.The shade should match the skin tone perfectly, the texture should mask imperfections, but not clog the pores. And when dryness, flaking and wrinkles on the skin are added to these conditions, the mission seems almost impossible.

Dry skin lacks moisture, which the hydrolipid layer does not hold well enough. Usually it is thin, dull, early begins to become covered with mimic wrinkles. In winter, redness, peeling and itching occur on dry skin. And even daily nutritional care does not always work out. That is why it is worth paying special attention to the choice of a foundation that we wear all day. Which foundation is right for dry skin?

A good foundation for dry skin should have moisturizing properties and hide its imperfections. Below are the main aspects to be guided by when choosing a tone.

First of all, you need to pay attention to the composition, especially if you want to choose a budget foundation for dry skin. A good foundation should contain:

    hyaluronic acid or glycerin, which increase the level of moisture in the skin and retain it;

    • UV filters – protect the skin from ultraviolet rays, moisture loss and premature aging;
    • natural oils – nourish the skin and eliminate flaking;
    • vitamins C or E – improve complexion and work as antioxidants;
    • reflective particles – will give the skin a healthy glow and glow, create a visual effect of a beautiful complexion.
    • Be careful when choosing a foundation with natural extracts in the composition – they can provoke allergies.

Foundation for dry skin should have caring properties – to nourish and moisturize the skin. It is also necessary that he hide the imperfections inherent in this type: thin capillaries, dull complexion, peeling, redness.

For those with dry skin, it is better to avoid the dense and oily texture of the foundation. A thick foundation for dry skin can accentuate flaking.Choose a foundation for very dry, flaky skin, cushion or liquid fluids and apply them in several layers. It’s also best to choose a lightweight foundation for dry skin with a radiant finish. It will give the face a beautiful glow and visually hide dryness.

In winter, it is better to replace the moisturizing foundation for dry and sensitive skin with a nourishing one, for example, with oils. The fact is that moisturizers tend to crystallize in the cold, from which dry skin suffers even more.

How to choose the perfect foundation shade for dry skin? If you have an earthy complexion, choose an orange pigmented dry skin toner. For pale skin, peach shades are suitable. To hide redness, you need a cool color with an olive undertone.

The dry skin tone is best tested not on the wrist, as is customary, but on the jawline. Be sure to pay attention to how the shade looks in artificial, natural and combined lighting. The main rule is that the foundation should not differ from your complexion by more than one tone.

Even the best and most durable foundation requires a special approach. The most famous application methods have been listed.

With a sponge, you can easily apply the foundation on dry skin: by wetting it in water before use, the texture is evenly distributed and lies in a thin layer, without emphasizing peeling. Apply the product to the skin gently without rubbing it hard.

If flaking is a concern, use a flat tone brush and apply with gentle, smoothing strokes. And to mask fine wrinkles, a duofiber double-bristled brush is suitable. It distributes the foundation for dry skin in a thin layer, as if covering imperfections, providing an even coverage. It is better to use brushes with synthetic bristles, as allergies can occur to natural fur.

In case your skin is too sensitive and the use of tools is uncomfortable, you can apply a moisturizing foundation for dry skin with your fingers. Before makeup, you need to thoroughly disinfect your hands so as not to infect either the skin or into a tube or jar with foundation. For normal and problem skin, it is still better to use makeup accessories.

    Tinted creams: beauty review

Foundations are an absolute must-have for creating flawless makeup. If you imagine a face in the form of a canvas, then a foundation is a ground, a base, on the quality of application of which the whole picture depends. Therefore, it is natural that foundations have rather heavy textures, and many women do not use them, fearing the “mask effect” – it seems to them that the skin “does not breathe.”This is especially felt in the spring-summer period.

In the warm season, experts recommend to abandon dense foundation and switch to light textures, mattifying and moisturizing, not clogging pores.

And women with combination and oily skin are generally advised to switch from foundation to powder. However, the problem is that the powder is not able to mask skin imperfections well.

And then cosmetics manufacturers came to the aid of women, having come up with this, in fact, ingenious, simultaneously moisturizing and toning agent – a cream with a tone.

Cream with a tinted effect, or tinted moisturizer, is an indispensable tool for the spring-summer period, when the high temperature of the air makes the use of an ordinary foundation uncomfortable. I want lighter, weightless textures and a minimum of layers cosmetics on the face.

Many people confuse tinting creams with foundations and self-tanning products, especially long-term self-tanners. To understand what a tinted moisturizer is, remember the favorite trick of professional makeup artists – mixing moisturizer and foundation.

Cream with toning effect – in fact, a normal moisturizing day cream, but containing a small amount of tone, that is, this is a 2 in 1 remedy. Agree, a convenient thing for a vacation when you don’t want to overload your luggage with unnecessary jars and bubbles! presents to your attention a review of toning creams. the best foundation for winter – Beauty – Home

The right tone: the best foundation for winter The textures and compositions of the “winter” and “summer” creams are quite different . And tonal means are no exception. The “weightless” tone, which was not felt at all on the skin in the heat, in the cold will turn out to be too light. But the tonal stick, with which the skin is completely uncomfortable in summer, is often the most suitable for winter, especially if the skin does not differ in high oily content.

    Wintering for leather

For cold weather, tonal means are ideal not on water, but on an oil or silicone base . In addition, in winter, the activity of the sebaceous glands decreases, and the skin can temporarily turn from oily to combined, from combined to normal, from normal to dry, and dry to very dry. Add to this the traditional winter problem of dehydration of the skin (and according to European dermatologists it is familiar to 8 women out of 10) – and it becomes clear that the foundation in winter should be completely different. And to answer the question for yourself: “Which foundation is best for winter?” , it is important to understand what properties it should have.

    For active humidification

The more we moisturize our skin during the winter heating season, the better. Therefore, tonal products with hyaluronic acid, marine collagen or lecithin are the same must have for the cold season as well as for the hot one. The only difference is that winter formulas should be more saturated in composition , and textures – thicker, and in some cases – and dense.Translucent fluid creams and tinting gels will come in handy later, closer to mid-spring. And do not worry that excess moisturizing ingredients will lead to hypothermia of the skin in the cold. Thanks to modern technologies of double and triple emulsification (that is, mixing the fat and water phase of cosmetics to obtain a homogeneous emulsion), they are all absorbed in a maximum of 15 minutes. So this interval is quite enough between makeup and going out. But with matting foundation , whose action is based on reducing the production of sebum, now you need to be quite careful. They may contain components that will dry the skin – and this is now useless.

    Vitamins and oils

It is good if vitamins (especially fat-soluble and B-groups, which strengthen the hydro-lipid barrier of the skin), amino acids, vegetable oils or essential fatty acids Omega-3 and Omega-6 in winter contain not only means for basic skin care, but also tonal. And to think that only dry or normal skin now needs these ingredients is a delusion. As well as the fact that such creams are completely unsuitable for oily and, especially, problem skin. The words “non comedogenic”, that is, “does not clog pores” and oil free, do not have to be synonymous. Much depends on the concentration of oils: if it is small, then usually such products are non-comedogenic, and at the same time provide the skin with the necessary nutrition. In addition, there are non-comedogenic vegetable oils that are great for oily skin, such as sesame (aka sesame), olive, and grape seed.

    Tonal veil from bad weather

This is what a good foundation can be called . Pigments of any foundation, by themselves, provide it with certain protective properties, protect the skin from cold and wind. It is also good if the winter foundation contains silicone and cellulose polymers (they also make the texture of the cream “silky” and delicate), natural oils and vegetable waxes. The latter are especially important in formulas for dry skin as they provide good protection.
