12 Beauty World Food Centre Stalls, Including Pink Candy With Al Fresco Dining, Ye Tang Chendol And Big Boys Sizzling Hotplate With Cornflakes Chicken

”Beauty World, cha cha cha…”

Opened during 1984, Beauty World Centre is a privately-owned shopping complex and residential development located at Upper Bukit Timah Road.

Beauty World Food Centre is one of the unusual privately-owned opened-air hawker centres, located at the 4th level of this building, though it is sometimes overshadowed by Bukit Timah Food Centre nearby.

I noted that there is a good mix of some stalls which has been through the decades; alongside couple of new finds such as BIG BOYS Sizzling Hotplate (selling Cornflake Chicken and Mentaiko Fries), Burger House, Ye Tang Chendol and Kopifellas.

With about 40 stalls there, here are some of the 12 to check out:

Top One Handmade Noodles
Beauty World Food Centre #04-44, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177
Tel: +65 98576126
Opening Hours: 11am – 7pm (Mon – Tues, Thurs – Sun), Closed Wed

Around since 1989, this is one of the few Ban Mian stalls where you can have rather varied permutations, to have your own personalized bowl by picking out the type of noodles and soup with a choice from many delectable ingredients.

Noodles wise, choose from mee hoon kway, you mian (thin noodles), ban mian (flat noodles), mee suah, bee hoon, Hong Kong mee, and cintan mee (egg noodles).

Four choices of bases are available – soup, tom yum, hot & spicy, and dry; to be paired with ingredients of fresh prawn, meat balls, sliced fish, fish maw or abalone.

A bowl without the luxurious ingredients is priced at $4 or $5.

Most people would opt for the dry version which is dribbled with a generous serving of dark sauce.

I had the soup version, which I found to be in between – not too rich or mild, but still flavourful.

BUT, the real magic to me, is that killer chilli sauce which is very shiok to have. Just a little can make a whole lot of difference.

Penang Home Made Beef Ball 槟城自制牛肉丸
Beauty World Food Centre #04-43, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177
Opening Hours: 10am – 7pm (Fri – Wed), Closed Thurs

Interesting. While there are beef noodles stalls around Singapore, you don’t find something that is labelled with “Penang”.

What you get are springy homemade beef balls noodle soups.

On the menu are Beef Ball Noodle Soup, Mixed Beef Noodle Soup, Braised Brisket Noodle or Rice, Wet Beef Horfun, and Beef Fried Rice. Every item on the menu in this stall is priced at $5.

While I cannot tell for sure how “Penang” this was, the Beef Brisket Noodles was QQ-springy, matched with the brisket that was well-braised and in scrumptious brown sauce. Quite an under-rated stall.

Jin Li Satay Bee Hoon 锦利沙爹米粉
Beauty World Food Centre #04-04, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177

Tel: +65 91546406
Opening Hours: 11am – 8pm (Thurs – Tues), Closed Wed

Jin Li Satay Bee Hoon is one of the food legends in Beauty World Food Centre with over 35 years of experience of serving the finest Satay Bee Hoon.

And good Satay Bee Hoon is getting so much harder to find in Singapore due to the complexity in preparing the dish and demand.

There are three serving sizes of Satay Bee Hoon ($4, $5, $6, takeaway $5, $6, $8).

A plate comes with a variety of ingredients like lean pork slices, kang kong, tau pok, cuttlefish, prawn and cockles. (You can inform the stall person if you want to opt out of any ingredients.)

The secret of the irresistible Satay Bee Hoon at this stall lies in the satay gravy, with the bee hoon drenched in complex flavours with a rich and satisfying taste.

One thing you may note is that peanut sauce is nutty, yet smooth and creamy all at the same time, with a light fragrance.

Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle Rice 香港玫瑰油鸡面饭
Beauty World Food Centre #04-51, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177
Tel: +65 6221 1668
Opening Hours: 8:30am – 6pm (Mon – Sun)

This stall has a relatively long queue, known for succulent Soya Sauce Chicken with hor fun, rice or noodles of your choice.

Operated by a mother-daughter team, be prepared to wait a while during peak hours.

They also serve Dumpling Noodles, Shredded Chicken with Mushroom Horfun, Wanton Noodle, Char Siew Rice and Beef Brisket Noodle. You will find Chee Cheong Fun, Yam Cake and Glutinous Rice too.

Each noodle or rice plate is priced from $3.00 to $5.50.

I got their Soya Sauce Chicken Noodles with drumstick ($4), with fleshy and tender chicken thigh with springy noodles in a slightly sweet and savoury sauce. If you have some stomach room, add some of those shui jiao dumplings.

Buta Kin
Beauty World Food Centre #04-28, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177
Tel: +65 8661 6028
Opening Hours: 11:30am – 8:30pm (Tues – Sun), Closed Mon

Buta Kin is one of those unusual stalls specialising in Japanese cuisine and tonkotsu ramen at a hawker centre.

There is a wide selection of dishes, with combinations of ramen/udon and other curry dishes, such as the Special Tonkotsu Ramen ($7.50), Tonkotsu Vegetable Udon ($5), Ebi Fry Curry Rice ($6), and Tonkatsu Chicken Curry Rice ($6.50).

Also look out for specials such as Black King Ramen and Curry Ramen.

All affordably priced as ramen can get quite pricey if you order at eateries elsewhere.

Get the Special Tonkotsu Ramen ($7.50) included with char siu slice, nori, black fungus, boiled egg and more, piping hot with light milky pork-bone broth.

Feng Ji Shu Shi Char Kway Teow 豐記熟食炒粿條
Beauty World Food Centre #04-45, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177
Opening Hours: 12pm – 7:30pm (Mon – Sun)

Uncle Tan Lip Hong has over 30 years of experience in frying up Char Kway Teow.

A plate ($4, $5) contains wok-fried kway teow (flat rice noodles) are combined with mee (round yellow noodles) with bean sprouts, egg, fresh cockles, deep fried lard fried with dark soya sauce.

It had the old-school taste with wok-hei, but perhaps some would coming expect a more moist and eggy version.

Hong Wen Mutton Soup 红炆羊肉汤
Beauty World Food Centre #04-20, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177
Tel: +65 9889 8948
Opening Hours: 11am – 3:30pm (Mon – Sun)

Not many places sell Mutton Soup anymore, as customers may not like that gamey taste and particular smell.

There are four items here: Mutton Stomach Soup, Mutton Soup, Mutton Tendon Soup and Mixed Mutton Soup. Prices have risen considerably though, to $8, $10, or $15 per portion.

The main thing that sets this Teochew and Hainanese styles apart is the stronger herbal flavour and they do not include deep fried bean curd taupok.

You Peng Mian Jiao Zi Guan
Beauty World Food Centre #04-23, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177
Tel: +65 6463 5608
Opening Hours: 10:30am – 9pm (Mon – Sun)

You will find a great variety of Chinese Shanghainese delights at this stall. Fulfill your cravings for Xiao Long Bao, Dan Dan Noodles, Guo Tie and Jiao Zi, to even Egg & Tomato Noodles, Dan Dan Noodles, Sour & Spicy Soup and Fried Pancakes.

The queue is not that long during early hours, and everything is fresh and handmade at the stall.

However, prices are considered comparatively on the higher side (for hawker centres), with Fried Dumplings priced at $7. 50 (for 10 pieces), Xiao Long Bao at $8, Dumpling Noodles at $5.

The Xiao Long Bao ($8) had skin that was slightly on the doughy and thicker side, though it was filled with sweet tasting broth.

Frozen dumplings are available for sale as well.

Burger House
Beauty World Food Centre #04-42, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177
Tel: +65 9753 7859
Opening Hours: 11am – 5pm (Mon – Sun)

Hambaobao may be closed, but there is a new burger stall called “Burger House” just opened in April 2020. Yes, during the challenging “Circuit Breaker” period.

Selection includes Beef Burger ($7.90), Chicken Burger ($6.20), Mushroom Burger ($6.90), Nuggets ($3 for 6 pieces), Truffle Fries ($4.50) and Cheese Fries ($3.90).

Add $2 for additional ala carte fries and lemonade drink ($2.00) to complete the set.

The burger patties are made from quality beef from New Zealand, all hand-made in store.

While the beef patty was rather tasty, I thought that it needed a less generic-tasting bun or sauce of some kind to better differentiate this with a number of burger stalls that are sprouting out in Singapore.

Still a value-for-money Western food stall.

Pink Candy
Beauty World Food Centre #04-60, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177
Opening Hours: 10:30am – 2:30pm, 5pm – 9pm (Mon, Wed – Sun), Closed Tues

Pink Candy which specialises in Korean dishes and kimchi, gained quite a sizable following after viral social media posts.

What is special is you can dine at the al fresco garden area, with a rooftop view across the nearby Bukit Timah area and can get quite cooling at night.

Opened by Helena Kim, the stall serves up home-style Korean dishes such as Bibimbap ($8.90), Ginseng Chicken ($8.90), Spicy Rice Cake ($8.90), Pancake ($14.90), Kimchi Fried Rice ($8.90), Cold Noodles ($9.90), Jjajang Noodles ($8.90) to Army Stew ($24.90).

Get the recommended Chicken Wings ($14.90 for 9 pieces) available in original, soy sauce or spicy sauce. For its price, I thought it was decently crispy and juicy, though I wished the meat was more marinated within.

I would suggest coming off peak because they can get short-handed (especially during the weekends) and wait can be long.

Big Boys Sizzling Hotplate
Beauty World Food Centre #04-25, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177
Opening Hours: 11:30am – 8:30pm (Tues – Sun), Closed Mon

This is a Western food stall unlike the usual, serving plates of big portions with interesting offerings.

Opened by an ex-chef from The Ritz Carlton, dishes included Air-Flown Australian Sirloin Steak ($13.90), Sizzle Mix Grilled Platter ($13.90), Black Pepper Chicken Chop ($6.90), Teriyaki Chicken Chop ($7.20), Mentaiko Grilled Salmon Fillet ($13.90), to Classic Batter Fish ($7.90).

The one special dish to try here is the Signature Cornflakes Chicken ($7.90). You read it right. The chicken came with crunchy cornflake crusted outer layer, while the meat remain succulent and juicy. Worthy to mention was its Mentaiko Fries.

Ye Tang Chendol
Beauty World Food Centre #04-26, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177
Tel: +65 9099 2289
Opening Hours: 11am – 8pm (Wed – Sun), Closed Mon, Tues

Ye Tang Chendol is a relatively new Cendol stall opened just before the challenging “Circuit Breaker period”. The stall has received quite positive online reviews so far.

The classic bowl with attap chee is priced at $2.00, while you can opt for other options such as Red Bean Chendol ($2.50), Corn Chendol ($2.50) and popular D24 Durian Chendol ($3.80).

What drew me was the fragrant, freshly-made green chendol jelly made with pandan leaves; while the red kidney beans (not the usual red bean used) were quite soft and sweet.

Beauty World Food Centre #04-67, 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, Singapore 588177
Tel: +65 8801 5209
Opening Hours: 8am – 6:30pm (Mon – Sun)

Kopifellas first opened at Timbre+ and has opened another stall at Beauty World, serving traditional and modern beverages at a hawker stall.

Its Kopi ($1.20 onwards) is made with coffee beans are grinded and brewed on the spot to bring out the best flavour; and they also serve up Black and White Cold Brew ($3.50, $4.50).

For coffee is not your think, under the “Caffeine Phobic” and “Teaholic” sections, there are other refreshing beverages of Honey Lemon, Earl Grey Milk Tea, Lychee Tea, Lime Tea, Honey Milk Tea, Honey Oolong Tea and even Thai Milk Tea.

Hip drinks at inexpensive prices (compared to the usual BBT stores).

Beauty World Centre : State of Buildings

Beauty World Centre with Beauty World Plaza to its left (Photo credit: Eugene Tan)

Beauty World Centre got its name from the market that once stood opposite. Formerly the Tai Tong Ah (Da Dong Ya) Amusement Park, it was converted into a market after the Japanese Occupation, when its popularity declined. This new market, Beauty World, was named for the daughter of Mr Giam, one of its owners. It also adopted the name “World” in allusion to its history as an amusement park. This was in reference to the other “Worlds”, including Great World and Happy World. As Beauty World, the open-air market once housed 166 stalls, stages for shows, and even hostess services – inspiring Michael Chiang and Dick Lee’s 1988 eponymous musical.

In its time, the market was plagued by bouts of fire, with two major incidences occurring in the late 1970s. By September 1975, the government acquired the land on which Beauty World Park stood, and talks to relocate the tenants began.

Construction of the Beauty World Centre across Upper Bukit Timah Road completed in 1983 and many notable retailers from Beauty World moved in. These included Grassland Book Store, several toy stores, and medicine halls.

The air-conditioned complex was designed as a 5-storey shopping centre and a 20-storey residential block. Separate entrances were provided for the shopping centre and residential tower which comprised of approximately 11,450m2 of commercial floor space and 80 units of 3-bedroom apartments.

To provide better ventilation for the food centre on the 4th floor, the building utilises an open-air concept. With kiosks and restaurants located around landscaped courtyards, the space on this floor feels different from the rest of the building, although its congenial environment remains.

The barrel-vault skylights above the central atrium space are another defining feature. To meet heat penetration standards of the time, bronze–tinted polycarbonate sheets were used as a cover, which gave the Centre’s interior its distinctive sheen.

Notably, Beauty World Centre was designed and built by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) before being acquired by Pidemco Land in 1989. Ownership of the building was then transferred again in 1998. It was a landmark transaction at close to $80 million, and the building was sold to 194 individual residents and tenants through the Beauty World Centre Merchants Association.

21 Beauty World Food Gems Including DIY Okonomiyaki, Cheap XLB And More

Beauty World food gems

Having been a Hillview resident for the past 20 years, I’ve come to discover a good number of things to eat around the vicinity. Separated by one MRT stop, Beauty World is my go-to spot for delicious grub at any time of the day. Here are some Beauty World food places that are worth travelling down for.

1. Ajiya Okonomiyaki

Over at Ajiya Okonomiyaki, you can get the best of both worlds by cooking and eating your own okonomiyaki. The okonomiyaki at Ajiya comes in four different types, though we recommend Meat Lovers ($16+) and Ajiya’s Combo ($17+). If you are not confident in your cooking skills, you can always get the staff to help you. The exterior of the okonomiyaki is grilled till crispy and brown, whereas the interior is relatively softer. Besides okonomiyaki, Ajiya offers other grub such as Potato Cheese Mentai ($10+) – dishes I would highly recommend as well.

Check out our full review on Ajiya Okonomiyaki!

Address: 104 Jalan Jurong Kechil, Singapore 598603
Opening hours: Tue-Sun 12pm to 3pm, 5:30pm to 10pm

2. Top 1 Home Made Noodle

Found within Beauty World Food Centre is Top 1 Home Made Noodles. Although this stall has existed for a very long time, its standards never once dropped. Their Ban Mian Soup ($3) is always served piping hot, and comes with a generous amount of meatballs and braised mushrooms. With an additional $0.50, you can opt to get the dry version—noodles tossed in dark soya sauce. If you are one who loves a fiery kick in your food, feel free to request for their spicy chilli to be added into your dry ban mian.

Address: 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, #04-44, Beauty World Centre, Singapore 588177
Opening hours: Thurs-Tue 10:30am to 8:30pm
Tel: 9648 2426

3. Jew Kit Hainanese Chicken Rice

I used to get my chicken rice fix at either Five Star Chicken Rice or Boon Tong Kee at Beauty World—that was, until I discovered Jew Kit Hainanese Chicken Rice. What sets their Steamed Chicken ($18 for half, $35 for whole) apart from the rest is the distinct layer of jelly-like fats between the skin and meat, making the pieces silkier and more succulent. Their chicken is drizzled with sesame oil, and the meat is both tender and juicy.

Address: 170 Upper Bukit Timah Road, #B1-16/17/18, Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, Singapore 588179
Opening hours: Daily 10:15am to 9pm
Tel: 6463 2637

4. Pink Candy

Located in the rooftop of Beauty World Centre is Pink Candy, an al fresco, rooftop Korean hawker stall. The owner herself is Korean, and has been in F&B in Singapore for years now, with the goal of bringing “homemade-style Korean food” to our city. With that, she serves a broad, affordable variety of Korean dishes, from house-made fresh kimchi ($4), to fried chicken, in flavours like Soy Sauce, Original, or Spicy Sauce ($13. 90 for nine pieces). When dine-in is permitted, the stall also offers K-barbeque.

Address: 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, #04-60, Beauty World Centre, Singapore 588177
Opening hours: Wed-Mon 10:30am-2:30pm, 5pm to 9pm

5. Mong Kok Dim Sum

I often head to Mong Kok Dim Sum for supper whenever a wave of hunger hits me in the middle of the night. Though Mong Kok Dim Sum is well-known for their dim sum such as Custard Bun ($4.20), Spinach Dumplings ($4.20), and Xiao Long Bao ($4), it’s their other dishes that make me go back for more. Their Beef Hor Fun ($6) gives off a smoky charred flavour, as it had been touched by the breath of the wok. In addition, their La La Beehoon ($12), which is not on the menu, has a broth similar to the taste of sliced fish bee hoon.

Address: 8 Cheong Chin Nam Road, Singapore 599733
Opening hours: Sun 11am to 12am, Mon-Thurs 12pm to 12am, Fri-Sat 11:30am to 12:30am
Tel: 8686 8829

6. Nonya Delicatessen

Nonya Delicatessen is a humble stall specialising in Peranakan cuisine. I’ve been eating their ever-so-scrumptious Mee Siam ($5.50) and Laksa ($5.50) since I was a kid. The former contains a broth that is both light and refreshing, whereas the latter has just the right amount of coconut milk added into it. Besides their noodle dishes, Nonya Delicatessen also offers my all-time favourite Nasi Kunyit ($7.50). The yellow basmati rice has a strong ginger fragrance, and the huge tender chicken leg that comes with it is doused in a lemak curry sauce.

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit, #B1-K69, Bukit Timah Plaza, Singapore 588996
Opening hours: Daily 11am to 8pm
Tel: 6469 1166

7. Revelry

Revelry is one of the few cafes based along the stretch of Lorong Kilat. They specialise in both sweet and savoury waffles and is most well-known for their Chicken & Waffles ($19). The batter of the juicy chicken thigh was done just right, while the buttery waffle is crispy on the outside, yet soft and fluffy on the inside. Revelry’s other classics include their Signature Burffle ($19), beef patties sandwiched in between two Belgian waffles, and On Cloud Nine ($16), a waffle topped with blue cotton candy surrounding a scoop of ice-cream and a few pieces of marshmallows.

Address: 21 Lorong Kilat, #01-22, Singapore 598123
Opening hours: Mon-Thur 10am to 8pm, Fri 10am to 9pm, Sat 9am to 9pm, Sun 9am to 8pm
Tel: 9278 0466

8. G7 Sin Ma Claypot Live Frog

A popular supper place at Beauty World is G7 Sin Ma Claypot Live Frog, which specialises in Frog Leg Porridge ($30 for four frogs and one claypot of porridge). The frog meat is not only tender, but also flavourful from soaking up the dark soya sauce gravy it’s cooked in. Customers can have the choice to spice up their gravy with chilli. The porridge is thick, but slightly bland; throw in some dark soya sauce gravy to give it a boost in flavour!

Address: 5 Cheong Chin Nam Road, Singapore 599730
Opening hours: Daily 10am to 3am
Tel: 6467 7317

9. FlagWhite

Nestled along Jalan Jurong Kechil, FlagWhite has emerged as the preferred hideaway for a lazy weekend brunch. Their minimalist interior and floor-to-ceiling windows invite plenty of natural lighting, creating a cosy space for you to chill with a cuppa.

Pair their unique brews up with one of their Western-style mains, including our personal favourite—the Chicken Parmigiana ($15).  A reliable duo of gouda and mozzarella cheese marries superbly with the tomato concasse, empowering the breaded chicken with sweet and savoury undertones.

Address: 106 Jalan Jurong Kechil, Singapore 598604
Opening hours: Wed-Fri, Mon 10am to 9pm, Sat-Sun 9am to 9pm

10. BIG BOYS Sizzling

True to their name, BIG BOYS Sizzling at Beauty World Food Centre churns up an array of Western mains with hulking portions that leave one sizzling with excitement. And with a former Ritz-Carlton chef helming the kitchen, you can be pretty confident about the quality of their dishes. Encased in a shatteringly crispy crust, their well-executed Cornflake Chicken ($7.90) unfurls in a potent medley of savoury and buttery flavours. Ridiculously sinful, yes; but also lip-smackingly addictive.

Address: 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, #04-25, Beauty World Food Centre, Singapore 588177
Opening hours: Tue-Sun 11:30am to 8:30pm
Tel: 9383 7475

11. You Peng Noodle Dumpling House

We all have that one stall to return to for a cheap and delicious plate of xiao long bao. For me, that spot would be You Peng Noodle Dumpling House. Not only are their Shanghai Fresh Meat Juicy Buns painstakingly prepared from scratch daily, but they are also priced affordably at $8 for 10 pieces. The lightest pressure exerted on these bad boys unleashes a glorious cascade of meaty broth, leaving your tongue reeling from its flavourful punch.

Address: 44 Upper Bukit Timah Road, #04-23, Beauty World Centre, Singapore 588177
Opening hours: Daily 10:30am to 9pm

12.  Liu San Ge

Liu San Ge offers Taiwanese bites reminiscent of foodie tours through Taipei.  Their signatures include their Braised Pork Rice ($7.30), aka lu rou fan, as well as their selection of pancakes. These morsels are available in Onion ($8) and Chive ($7) flavours, both of which see crispy batter meet aromatic filling.

Address: 1 Jalan Anak Bukit, #01-09, Bukit Timah Plaza, Singapore 588996
Opening hours: Daily 11am to 9pm
Tel: 6463 1833

13. Joo Seng Teochew Porridge

Opening their doors till four in the morning, Joo Seng Teochew Porridge stands as an alternative supper haunt for those living around Bukit Timah. Drizzled with a dash of braised sauce, their warm bowls of porridge offer a much-needed pick-me-up after a seemingly endless day. And with a bevy of steamed, braised, stir-fried, and stewed items to pair your porridge with, there’s def’ something for everyone here.

Address: 14 Cheong Chin Nam Road, Singapore 599738
Opening hours: Daily 9:30am to 4am
Tel: 6463 0768

14. Joomak Korean Restaurant

If Bukit Timah was Singapore’s mini Koreatown, then Beauty World would rest at its centre. A legion of Korean restaurants dot this neighbourhood, including the perennially popular Joomak Korean Restaurant

From Seafood Stew ($40+) to Army Stew ($10+), this crowd-pleaser serves up a mean selection of Korean dishes that would easily find its place in the restaurants of Insadong. The crowning glory is their Seafood Pancake ($20+). Fluffy without being overly airy, this pillowy pancake leaves a seafood-like sweetness that lingers on the tongue.

Address: 144 Upper Bukit Timah Road, #04-01, Beauty World Centre, Singapore 588177
Opening hours: Tue-Sun 12pm to 3pm, 6pm to 10pm
Tel: 6466 7871

15. The Signature Patisserie

While most fans flock towards The Signature Patisserie for fluffy muffins, others return for the lesser-known—yet equally impressive—selection at their cafe. Whether it’s the The Breakfast Burger ($16++) or The French Toast ($16), their menu comfortably matches up to the expectations set by their signature muffins. Lunchtime dining is also available, to which you can order tortilla pizzas, pasta, and sides to offer you a midday pick-me-up.

Address: 21 Lorong Kilat, #01-01, Sun Court, Singapore 598123
Opening hours:Tue-Sun 9am to 3:30pm
Tel: 6463 0919

16. Micasa Kitchen & Bar

Mention Spanish food and you’ll probably think of refreshing jugs of sangria and huge pans of paella – all cooked up by a tender-hearted grandmother. Micasa Kitchen & Bar got all of these details down pat, relaxing you from the get-go with their quaint and homespun interior.

Couple this homely ambience with a plethora of well-executed dishes and you’ll probably understand the hype behind this unassuming eatery. Take their Seafood Paella (from $30), which arrives with generous servings of mussels, prawns, and chorizo. While the seafood injects a crustacean richness to the paella, a smattering of raisins brings a much-needed balance with bursts of fruity sweetness.

Address: 102C Jalan Jurong Kechil, #01-01, Singapore 598602
Opening hours: Wed-Mon 11:30am to 1:30pm, 5:30pm to 8:30pm
Tel: 6463 0263

17. Al-Azhar Eating Restaurant

Al-Azhar Eating Restaurant is a familiar name for Westies; many of us have probably dragged ourselves there in the wee hours to satisfy our supper cravings. With more than 100 different mains and sides on their menu, it’s probably difficult to single out a particular dish, but most fans swear by their Butter Chicken Masala ($8). Rich, slightly sweet, and oh-so-creamy, this full-bodied masala simply invites you to mop it up with a plate of Garlic Naan ($3.20).

Address: 11 Cheong Chin Nam Road, Singapore 599736
Opening hours: Daily 24 hours
Tel: 6466 5052

18. Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle Rice

Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle Rice may not have a Michelin star to their name, but their Soya Sauce Chicken Noodle ($4) tastes just as good as those dished up by Liao Fan Hawker Chan. Flavoured with rose wine, soy sauce, and various herbs, the meat carries hints of sweetness to its umami-rich sauce. Their meticulous preparation also ensures that the chicken packs a tender and succulent bite, supplying a delightful contrast of texture against the springy noodles.

People’s Park Centre & Beauty World Centre among 16 new locations visited by infectious Covid-19 cases – Mothership.SG

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed 33 new cases of Covid-19 in Singapore on May 29, 2021.

The total number of cases in Singapore is now 62,003.

23 of the cases are locally transmitted.

Among the locally transmitted cases, 19 are linked to previous cases. The remaining four cases are unlinked.

There are also 10 imported cases, who had already been placed on Stay-Home Notice upon arrival in Singapore.

Five of the imported cases are returning Singaporeans or Singapore Permanent Residents (PRs).

Amongst the new cases today, 13 are asymptomatic, and were detected from MOH’s proactive screening and surveillance, while 20 were symptomatic.

New locations as of May 29

MOH regularly updates a list of public places visited by confirmed Covid-19 cases for more than 30 minutes when they were infectious.

There are 16 new locations added to the list on May 29, including the following shopping malls:

  • Beauty World Thai Massage at Beauty World Centre
  • Vivocity
  • People’s Park Centre

And four supermarkets:

  • FairPrice Finest at Bukit Timah Plaza
  • Sheng Siong Supermarket at 108 McNair Road
  • NTUC FairPrice at 30 Bendemeer Road
  • Giant at 256 Bangkit Road

The new locations have been highlighted in the list below.

Those who had been identified as close contacts of confirmed cases would already have been notified by MOH.

As a precautionary measure, persons who had been at these locations during the specified timings should monitor their health closely for 14 days from their date of visit.

They should see a doctor promptly if they develop symptoms of acute respiratory infection (such as cough, sore throat and runny nose), as well as fever and loss of taste or smell, and inform the doctor of their exposure history.

Individuals may access the SafeEntry Location Matching Self-Check service via the TraceTogether App, SingPass Mobile, or this website to check whether they were at these locations during the specified timings, based on their own SafeEntry records.

There is no need to avoid places where confirmed cases of Covid-19 have been, said MOH.

The National Environment Agency will engage the management of affected premises to provide guidance on cleaning and disinfection.

Miro Art studio (Beauty World Centre) • Art School for Kids @ Upper Bukit Timah

Miro Art studio is an art school for kids in Singapore. It was established with a mission of ensuring that our student artists to enjoy learning about creativity and have fun with art! Our programs include children’s art & craft, drawing & painting class, activity & workshop program, school holiday program, education trips and creative kids’ party for toddlers. If you are thinking about how to let your child learn to be creative, then think Miro. We help your children utilize their holiday in the best way possible – by enjoying art, learning new skills such as drawing and painting and nurturing their creativity and ability to express their emotions and attitudes through art. Every day and throughout the week we have something exciting and fun for kids.

Our programs are organized according to age groups. We do this because art has a specific intention for each age group. For instance, at a younger age – 3 to 5 years, the intention is to inspire art in their minds through songs and cartoons, while for 10-12 year-olds we are aiming at building their drawing and painting skills, art and painting vocabulary and expression of individual creativity. Besides, the inspiration of a 2-year-old is different from that of a 10-year-old, and so are their expression, skill, and tools of the trade.

With time, we noted that our services were not just popular among children of age 12 and below. Some adults that are passionate about art, drawing, dance and painting had passed up the opportunity to get these skills at a tender age. So we designed a class for adults and those who are past junior high school. We have seen people enjoy their beginner classes even as adults. It feels good when you finally realize what makes you happy in life and make a choice to follow through. We ensure that we give you all the support you need while letting you explore new avenues in art.

Hawker Stall At Beauty World Centre Sells Gourmet Hamburgers At Just $5 Each

Ham Bao Bao-1

Located at the fourth floor of an old school hawker at Beauty World Centre, Ham Bao Bao serves hand crafted burgers at affordable prices. Helmed by a young couple in their 20s, the stall has a modernised edge which sets them apart from the older stalls in the food centre.

Although their menu is only limited to 5 burger choices, their gourmet offerings are of a certain calibre as they command snaking long queues as soon as the stall opens during lunch time. Expect to find homely touches to the burgers, which are passionately made from the buns to the condiments, right down to the patty.

Ham Bao Bao-2

Served on takeaway paper packaging and metal trays, all their burgers including The Classic Beef ($5), has a toothpick in the middle to prevent the burger from falling apart when bitten into. You can even use the paper to avoid getting your hands dirty. For a regular beef burger, this was simple yet delicious.

We ordered a side of Fairy Fries ($1) to go with it. Unlike most fast food joints that utilise frozen fries, they hand cut their fries into what resembles ultra thin potato wedge slices. With its crispy exterior and just the right amount of salt sprinkled over it, this was pretty damn addictive as an add-on. I’d say it’s worth paying an extra dollar for.

Ham Bao Bao-3

The beef patty was notably crisp on the outside and had a nice seasoning with hints of herbs embedded within. This comes with the usual suspects of cheese, pickles, lettuce and their very own homemade tomato sauce.

If you are unsure about the more unconventional options on the menu, this simple burger should suffice.

Ham Bao Bao-4

The Spice Pulled Pork ($5) was definitely my favourite. Not only did the pulled pork shoulder have a hint of spice but it was also grilled to a crisp tenderness, which went really well with the cheese. The only thing I didn’t particularly enjoy was the coleslaw dressing that kind of overwhelmed the pork.

Ham Bao Bao-5

Another thing to note about their buns is that they are all toasted on a pan, resulting in a crisp interior, while retaining a soft texture on top.

Story continues

Ham Bao Bao-6

I was excited at the prospect of trying their Crispy Pork Belly ($5) as I’ve never had that burger combination before. And well, it definitely lived up to its name, with its skin being crispy giving a loud crunch upon each bite.

Ham Bao Bao-7

The thick slabs of pork belly are drenched in Hoisin sauce and English mustard before being topped off with fresh Japanese cucumber slices. While I liked that they were generous with their pork, I found the taste of the mustard to be too strong. Perhaps, they could have toned it down a bit.

Other than that, the pork was perfectly tender and the burger came together very nicely with the crunchy cucumbers.

Ham Bao Bao-8

As the only fish burger on the menu, That Dory Fish ($5) is sure to satisfy those who prefer having a fillet and might even surprise those who don’t usually opt for it. Marinated with a homemade tartar sauce, the slab of broiled dory fish is infused with grilled pepper and has a nice charred taste to it.

It may not make for a wholesome burger on its own but with the added zucchini, red peppers and cheese toppings, there was good mix of different textures that gave it a flavourful bite overall.

Ham Bao Bao-9

The Ayam Buah Keluak ($5) burger may not look like much, but it is definitely something you don’t see every day. Essentially, a minced chicken patty marinated with rempah and a buah keluak sauce, it was an unusual twist on the hugely popular Peranakan dish.

Although I wasn’t a huge fan of this personally, I can see why its unique taste would appeal to some people. The darkly delicious patty was undeniably juicy when paired with the Nyonya-styled chap chye vegetables.

Ham Bao Bao-10

The flavour of the buah keluak was well-balanced and went well with the braised cabbage and bits of black fungus. In fact, it was just right and did not mask the flavour of the chicken at all.

Ham Bao Bao-11

To ensure the highest quality possible, all their patties and sauces are said to be handmade. The fact that they put in a lot of hard work into making their burgers is evident when you taste the burger firsthand.

For those with a big appetite, I would recommend that you order more than one burger as the portion size might not fill you up. As a big eater myself, I was thoroughly satisfied after sampling every available option on the menu.

So if you don’t mind the hawker heat and the ridiculously long queues, make a trip down to Ham Bao Bao for their reasonably priced gourmet burgers. Their burgers are most definitely a better alternative to those from the usual fast food chains. Less manufactured and 100% real.

Expected damage: $5 per pax

Salon of the Embassy of Beauty in Moscow (Tverskaya metro station)

I have been visiting the Embassy of Beauty Center for a long time, then I stopped, and when I found them on Instagram I started calling. I talked on the phone with a girl, probably a manager or an administrator, and she advised first to consult with a beautician, and then order. I consulted by phone. Beautician Natalya helped me in the selection of Biologic cosmetics. She advised me on my questions what I want, picked it up.Natalia is very pleasant to talk to, she spent almost the whole day with me until we stopped at something.

I contacted the center for the selection of cosmetics that would suit me. I got what I wanted: pleasant sensations from the procedure itself, thanks to the excellent quality of cosmetics and the professionalism of the master Anna, who knows the products very well. Anna is sociable and pleasant to talk to. This center was recommended to me. The cosmetology center itself pleases with its cleanliness and friendly staff. I really liked it.

In this center I purchased professional cosmetics, I liked the communication with the seller and consultants, I was provided with recommendations, they were sociable, attentive, there was no imposition of additional services, at the moment I am testing cosmetics, it is difficult for me, additional time is needed to evaluate result, also consult a beautician. The center has a large assortment of cosmetics for any customer, the lockers are full, I was pleased with the visit!

Was at the Happiness for Hair service.I liked everything, took it on time, got the desired result. The master worked well, with high quality, professionally, his name, unfortunately, I do not remember, I was given the necessary recommendations for hair care. Prices are average, I chose this center as it is close to home. Service is good, clean and comfortable, always welcome.

The salon is beautiful not only for its dazzling interiors, but also for its classy specialists! Yesterday I had a face procedure at the beautician Natalia. Excellent result! Thanks.I will now regularly visit the Embassy of Beauty.

Completed the lpg alliance course on face and neck. I liked the effect very much. The skin was noticeably tightened, it became even, smooth and radiant. And I was very pleased with the tightening of the second chin. Made at the Embassy of Beauty. A good alternative to plastic is obtained. I will immediately warn you the question – after the procedure 2 months have passed, and the effect is still holding.

We did our daughter’s hair at the prom, I liked everything. The hair was styled very beautifully, the hair was kept the next day. They gave me a good styling. In general, we were satisfied)

Passed a massage course on a new LPG Alliance device, before that she had already taken a massage on the previous generation device. There is something to compare. The effect is visible immediately, and the condition even improved, apparently there are a lot of stagnant places, and massage normalized them.

90,000 Beauty of Islam3 – World Center for the Converted Shi’a

Another proof of the universality and beauty of Islam is the establishment for believers to consult among themselves in all their worldly and religious affairs.Any reasonable person would agree that advice is the main reason for getting the best results and achieving your desired goals. Advice, in any society, has always been a way to achieve benefits. The more society comprehends useful knowledge, the more it becomes convinced of the need to consult. Muslims never ceased to be prosperous as long as they practiced this principle. When they deviated from it, there began a decline and loss in religious and worldly affairs in the flesh to the present state, and if they returned to counsel in their affairs, they would certainly succeed.

The merit of Islam is that it is sent down to regulate worldly and religious affairs, taking into account the needs of the soul and body. In the Holy Quran and the life teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, the need to take care of these two foundations is often mentioned, and the fact that each of them supports the other. Thus, Allah Almighty created His slaves to worship Him and observe His rights, endowing them with food for this and diversifying the ways of achieving it and ways of life, so that people would facilitate their worship and maintain their inner and outer world. Not commanding to take care of only one soul, forgetting the body. He also forbade immersion in pleasures and passions, however, to strengthen the heart and soul. And this is explained by the example of the fact that the Creator arranged science, religion and power as constituent parts that support each other. In this way, religion and science support the power on which laws and government are built. And government is limited to science and religion, which is wisdom and the direct path, as well as success. And if religion joins together with power, supporting each other, the affairs of society begin to improve and prosper. And if one of the components is missing, the order is violated, disgust and hostility arise in society and people’s affairs go wrong. This is due to the fact that no matter how far science has gone in its development, no matter what new knowledge is discovered, they do not contradict the Koran and Sharia. Because the Sharia does not proclaim anything unthinkable to people, on the contrary, it calls people to what every sane person recognizes as useful.

This is the best proof that the law of Allah is universal and valid for any place and time.If a person begins to observe the events taking place around him and in the universe, begins to study the world around him, he will see that everything that happens is described in the Holy Scriptures, and corresponds to the sent down Sharia.

All this because Sharia does not contradict common sense and science, which is the best proof of the universality of Islam. These brief statements are clarified through the observation of the processes taking place in the universe, as well as social events that are fully consistent with religion.Through the study of the surrounding world, it becomes clear that Sharia is an explanation for everything that exists and contains information about everything.

If we look at the Islamic military discoveries, we see their extraordinary compared to the discoveries of past communities. We will see the rise of Islam while its enemies have united against it, violently opposing it. All the greatness of Islam is the result of its unifying principle, which manifested itself in the cohesion of the Arab peninsula while it was fragmented. Then discoveries began to spread throughout the earth, spreading to the greatest civilizations of that time: Persian and Roman. They were discovered by the power of faith and religion, as well as with the help of Allah and His support, so that Islam spread from east to west. These facts are rightfully considered miraculous signs of Allah and clear evidence of the truth of the prophecy of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Therefore, people enter Islam in large groups, consciously and without coercion, feeling complete satisfaction with this religion.Anyone who ponders this religion will understand that it is true and a lie, no matter how sophisticated it is, will not harm Islam. Any sane person would agree with this statement.

Unfortunately, today there are many people whose hatred of faith pushes to splash out the accumulated hostility and support the enemies of religion. They invented a lie about Islam, interpreting its extraordinary spread of purely material reasons, justifying their conclusions by the weakness of the Persian and Roman empires and the strength of the Arabs. This assertion alone is sufficient to make it inconsistent. At the time, the Arabs did not have the strength to withstand even the weakest power, let alone the greatest and strongest empires of the time. So that the Koran and a just religion took the place of the laws of those oppressors, and everyone who is just, who wants the truth, accepted it voluntarily and with respect.

Tips from around the World

One of the most effective secrets we have learned from our South American sisters is beauty sleep, also known as siesta. This custom originated in Spain, but migrated across the ocean. There is no better way to raise energy levels and achieve a fresh blush than a short afternoon nap that girls in Costa Rica, Ecuador and Mexico allow themselves to.

Mexico’s ideals of beauty also have an impact on North America as For decades, the peoples of Latinos, Chola and Chicano moved freely across the border of the continents. This influence continues today, but has been visibly transformed by the Xican movement, which challenges the established archetypes of Latin American beauty. This includes an analysis of traditional beauty concepts and how limiting they can be. But despite this, most women from the Xikan movement are eager to reveal the heritage of their culture, including through the use of traditional motives and images that emphasize their voluminous, dense hair. The girls from this movement in their images often pay tribute to the real icon Frida Kahlo, who was inspired by the appearance of women from the Teuntapek matriarchal community.

American women south of the equator prefer long, wavy and voluminous hair, often with naturally sun-bleached highlights. If you are wondering what the most fashionable image of Ipanema Beach looks like, just look at Gisele Bundchen and other Victoria’s Secret angels from Brazil – Adriana Lima and others.Since the climate in Brazil is very humid, antifreeze treatments, moisturizing shampoos and conditioners are of particular value for local girls.

Bicycle therapy, also known as candle cutting, redefines the stereotype of fiery Latin American beauty. The technique, popularized all over the world by Brazilian models and their enviable shock of hair, allows you to eliminate split ends without losing length, simply by burning them. If suddenly this method seems a little intimidating to you, enter into your regimen an effective treatment to prevent split hair at the ends.

90,000 clinic of modern cosmetology, beauty and health center in Izhevsk 08/13/2021

Constantly repeating the importance of sun protection, we forget about hair🤕 although the scalp and strands suffer from harmful ultraviolet radiation no less… How UV rays work on hair❓ As a reminder, there are three types of UV rays: UVA, UVB and UVC ✔️UVC rays are very short light waves that are trapped by the atmosphere, so they don’t reach Earth and pose no danger to us ✔️UVA rays – long wavelengths of UV radiation, 95% of which reaches the Earth. They are present in our lives every day and all year round, acting in any weather, in any climatic zone. Therefore, UVA rays can cause harm, penetrating deep into the skin and hair through clouds, windows, clothes.UVA – rays have a powerful drying effect, literally “evaporating” the structural protein-keratin (of which the hair consists of 70%), water, lipids, trace elements and breaking down protein bonds. Hair becomes dry, brittle, brittle. Free radicals are formed in the cuticular layer under the influence of UVB rays, leading to irreversible changes in the structure💣 ✔️UVB – rays are medium wavelengths of UV radiation. Only 5 percent of them reach the Earth’s surface, partially absorbed by clouds and the ozone layer.UVB rays are most active from 10 am to 4 pm. Although they do not pass through clouds and windows, these rays are more powerful than UVA and cause abnormal mutations in skin cells as well as destruction of the hair’s pigment melanin.
